Thank you for my spot on the tour and for my copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. 𝗠𝗬 π—₯π—˜π—©π—œπ—˜π—ͺ The Mirror Man was published in Sweden in 2020 and translated to English by Alice Menzies. When I joined the blog tour for The Mirror Man I didn’t know there had already been seven books in the Joona Linna series. Obviously the characters are well established, each with their own well developed personalities, but the authors had filled in the gaps and provided enough background that this worked perfectly well as a standalone novel. The story was thrilling, often gruesome, and utterly compelling. It is the sort of book that makes you pause once in a while to fully assimilate what you’ve just read. Perhaps the book should come with a few trigger warnings as some of the content was pretty dark and violent. I will not go into further detail about the story, to avoid ruining anyone’s enjoyment. Overall, I found this to be a very well written, imaginative, and original book, which I am happy to recommend to any reader of Nordic Noir, and suspenseful psychological thrillers. I gave The Mirror Man, by Lars Kepler, four stars, and look forward to reading the whole series. My blog tour review with additional author and book info is live note. π—Ÿπ—Άπ—»π—Έ 𝗢𝗻 𝗕𝗢𝗼 #ad #gifted #themirrorman #larskepler #zaffre #randomthingstours #nordicnoir #psychologicalthriller #booklover #bookstagrammers #johnsbookshelf #bookstabloggers #bookreader #blogtour #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookshelf #bookaddict #igreads #bookblog #readabook #johnsbookshelfblogs #bookaholic #fortheloveofbooks #goodreadschallenge2022 #bookpost #blogpost #johnsbookshelfreviews (at Southampton, England, U.K.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeYFHTngQ_9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hope you’re warm and toasty on this holiday Monday. The Mirror Man is the 8th Joona Linna book in the series from Lars Kepler. "17-year-old Jenny Lind is abducted in broad daylight. She is taken to an isolated farm where she is held captive in cages with other girls. They are punished for every little mistake and their families are threatened if they try to escape. Five years later Jenny is found murdered in a public park. Joona ties her death to a previous suicide. When another girl goes missing Joona is sure there is a serial killer at work and he finds himself in a race to save them." This is my 2nd Kepler book and I'm learning that they write some scary bad guys. This one cages teenage girls and carries a machete for punishment. This is a police procedural but it doesn't overwhelm the reader by jumping from lead to lead. The story goes back-and-forth from Joona's investigation to the farm where the girl's are held captive. The story is fast-paced and intense. I was not a fan of the plot twist. Kepler makes it work but I prefer a different resolution. Another great story from Lars Kepler. Thanks to @aaknopf and @netgalley for the advanced copy. #themirrorman #larskepler #aaknopf #netgalley #ARC #bookreview #nordicnoir #nordiccrimefiction #crimebythebook #translatedfiction #newrelease #bookstagram #bookshelves #booknerd #bookhoarder #bookworm #sodacityreads #bookish #bookreview #hardcover #bookcover #bookhaul #literarycrimefiction #goodreads #homelibrary #fiction #domesticthriller #crimefiction #thriller https://www.instagram.com/p/CY1aoWmrIMb/?utm_medium=tumblr

What if you could walk away from your life for a year with no repercussions (or so you think), get paid $10 million, and then return to your life as if you had never been gone? That is the deal Jeremiah Adams makes in The Mirror Man by Jane Gilmartin. The book is a page-turner both in the look at its ethical issues and in the specifics of Jeremiah's story. Without a spoiler, I will say that I love the ending! At that point, I wish the book kept going to see what happens next to all the characters. A sequel perhaps? I would read it.
