i haven’t forgotten about spending St Patrick’s Day with Matt btw!

for starters: pregaming at the apartment is a MUST. karen bought so many st paddy’s themed items, like headbands, scarves, tattoos. you name it, she got it.

putting a temporary tattoo on matt’s cheeks because he’s only wearing green and you are determined to get him super festive (including switching his normal red lenses for green ones). you even begged him to put a little shamrock on his chest.

josie’s is a hoot on st patrick’s. green beer, jameson shots to go around for days. first thing josie notices on matt (because most he has done was wear the same green flannel every yeah) is the little tattoos and the giant shamrock on his shirt. and he pulls you close and says, “all thanks to her. she said i wasn’t festive enough and she’s not even irish” to which you poke his side and say to josie, “i think the irish one here should be festive of his heritage”

josie’s is blasting irish music and the drinks start tasting like you can do irish step dance and matt can hear you belly laughing while karen says to matt, “you got a wild one, murdock. she’s a keeper”

Omg yes !! What's this like? Are they crazy with their partying?

They weren’t too crazy, but in the first year, they knew their time was limited together (they were only friends at this point) so they try to make the most out of every waking moment they can.

It’s tame in the first year because they are trying to get used to school and independence, but if Honey has a sorority event she has to go to Quinn is almost always tagging along.

The second year is for sure their last year together before he leaves to start his rookie year and she stays back in Michigan to finish her education so they are soaking up all of those events and parties that he won’t get to be at anymore so things like homecoming or big pregames for sports events and stuff like that she is dragging him to them because they’ll never get those experiences again.

The second year is also the year they get together, so like in the previous year they are attached at the hip, but now with more pda. If they aren’t drunk making out, cutely dancing with one another, or hiding away in the corners of the room and drunk giggling, then they aren’t having any fun!

I also like to picture Honey making them go all out for themed parties, he finds it a little bit embarrassing, but he’ll do anything to see her happy, even if it’s wearing a stupid little green outfit for St Paddy’s Day :)))

Ok SO. First off, he’s said on at least one occasion that he considers Paddy’s Pub to be an Irish catholic bar (it is not). His religion plays a huge part in his character- it shapes a lot of his motivations and is the driving force behind a lot of his character arc. He spends a lot of time trying to reconcile his faith and his sexuality, and spends literally seasons (years in the show) doing that. In season 15, he literally almost became a priest. We see him go to confession and it’s canon that he goes regularly. In Mac day (a day where he got to choose what the gang did) he based the day around the Bible and lectured his friends.

It's a maybe basically canon situation, he's got a ton of Catholic symbolism, and he brands one of the main characters that's trying to kill him and his friends the devil, uses a lot of allegories to Biblical stuff, crosses design, choir themes, etc etc

St. peter’s cross on his back? check. ash wednesday cross on his forehead? check. marks on his hands where stigmata would be? check. talks about judas? check. compared to jesus? check. martyr themes? check. angel and devil themes rolled neatly into one character? check. cathedral is his hangout spot? check. his heart getting stabbed with a metaphysical dagger? check. that’s a swagged up catholic boy right there.

St Patrick's Day Preference

A/N: I do know I have readers from all across the world, so if you're not up on what Saint Patrick's Day is, do click here!

Anwar Kharral: I feel like Anwar's a little but over it. He's gotten into too many scrapes during St. Paddy's day when he and Maxxie move to London. He's older now, more tame, this doesn't mean he won't be wearing green! You won't catch him slipping!

Sonny Kapoor: I feel like he'll make a theme night at the hotel. The Irish guests are more than happy to listen to a power point about St. Patrick and absolutely house some baked potatoes, and are in bed by 9. I feel like Sonny is very popular with the Irish residents at the hotel, and he uses the holiday to pay the affection back.

Neal Sampat: Neal's not really a fan. In his defense, it's New York, and the two of you know it's different here. You guys do last minute grocery runs two days before and make it a point to hole up and not go anywhere on the day. God forbid you do, it's like doing a marathon, some kind of gauntlet. No ma'am, don't call, you guys are at the apartment.

Deon Wilson: He's baby! I feel like maybe the two of you go out early, like at 4-5, have a drink, and get overstimulated and go home (valid). Maybe you guys watch the 2001 Disney Channel Classic "Luck of the Irish" before going to bed.

Sheru “Saroo” Brierley: Saroo likes going out and drinking with his friends! You do too! The both of you aren't exactly marathon-holiday-enjoyers or bar-hoppers (at least not anymore), but if your friend group brings the energy, you guys are there! No green-colored drinks though.

Jay Menha: No ma'am. He's at home. He's in bed by 8. He's got his earplugs in. People celebrating the day are too loud and too touchy, he's not doing that. If he's called in to work a paramedic shift, he'll do it, but he'll be grumpy the whole time!

David Copperfield: In principle, David is a fan of the day. He loves seeing how happy people get to celebrate Ireland and being Irish! This being said, last time he actually went out, he started his evening *in* London, and somehow ended up in Birmingham deli where he came to 48 hours later. He's not gonna do that again.

Joshua Madika: Girl, I feel like he's a little too domestic for this holiday. When he was single and rebounding, maybe, but now his knees hurt, and he's literally got too much money to go out and party with the people! Chances are he's gonna book you both a spa day or something, and ignore it in general.

Sir Gawain: This may sound harsh, but I don't think he know Ireland is a real place. He'll drink, party, the two of you will have a great night out, but he's 100% certain Ireland is made up. He has been there multiple times.

Dr. Chatterjee: I feel like he's a bit cranky on the holiday. He's a doctor first and foremost, so he's really spent too many evenings in the ER pumping stomachs overfilled with green beer. He thinks the history behind it is neat, but he's overall not a big fan.

a post about my bbc ghosts oc because @natequarter made a post that reminded me of him!

His name is Axel "Ace" Spades (he/him). Ace is basically an oc insert because I thought it'd be fun (sorry for being cringe </3 /hj). He's a 26 year old indie (wanna-be) filmmaker who died around the late-2010s (i'm thinking like March 2017?). Ace has a pretty long mullet (think like bon jovi) and it's dyed bright pink. He usually wears the same pair of crust pants that are layered with a bunch of home-made patches. Aside from that he'll wear the first thing he can find in his closet, so his shirt is always clashing badly with his pants. He's not very tall, about 158cm, and he makes no effort to look taller either. Ace died wearing a shirt that says "heavy metal" in a bubbly font that he cut the sleeves off of, his crust pants, kirby-themed socks and a pair of vans that are caked with dirt.

Most people know him as Ace because he thought it'd be cool to go by that on top of his chosen name "Axel", so there's no real cool story behind it. Spades isn't his real last name either, he just thought it'd be even cooler to be known as "Ace Spades", and he didn't want to keep using his father's name. Basically his whole deal is that he grew up in a very protected and controlling family, so he took uni as an excuse to get out of his parents' house and get as distant from them as possible. His upbringing also caused him to be a really big adrenaline junkie, since his big belief is to take whatever chance, pick whatever fight and do whatever pops into his mind "to make up for lost time". His impulses has gotten him into a lot of trouble physically and mentally, and so has actually had quite a few instances where he died for a moment and was resuscitated or just got waay too close to death, which brings me to his death and his ghostly powers.

The idea at the moment is that he died on St Paddy's Day, after a long night of bar hopping and heavy drinking. He built up the bad habit of being a pretty heavy drinker and a chain smoker. Anyway, at one specific bar, Ace almost started a stupid bar fight and got kicked out. In anger, he hopped on his motorcycle and drove up to the more secluded side of the village he happened to be in. His motorcycle broke down suddenly as he was riding, and it happened to break down right in front of the Button House borders (territory?? i'm not sure of the right english word, i apologise). He tried to walk up to the house to ask for help, but keep in mind it's about 2am at this point and Alison and Mike (and most of the ghosts) are asleep. Ace passes out on the driveway before he can even make it up to the front porch. Robin is the one to find his body really early in the morning while he's on a walk. In his excitement, he runs into the house screaming and wakes everyone up, including Ace himself, who gets up off the floor to look down and find his own body lying face down with a small pool of vomit near him. Long story short, he died in Button House territory, became a ghost, Alison and Mike have to deal with the shit he left behind, and he becomes a menace to them just like all the other ghosts <3 Now for his ghostly powers!! Basically, because of the amount of near-death experiences that Ace went through while he was alive, Ace also had Alison's power of seeing ghosts. He was just convinced that he was crazy, though. However, Alison only had one near-death experiences. Ace has had so many, he was able to wave away the ghosts he saw as "a result of some kind of brain damage". So on top of being able to see ghosts, he could also touch them if he tried hard enough. So because of his condition and the stuff he did while living, his "spirit" in a sense is confused about its state and as a result, Ace can interact with the human world normally if he focuses hard enough (e.g. he can move and touch things, he can be heard by the living) BUT he can't touch humans normally most times since it takes so much effort to do it and it generally is just uncomfortable (because y'know he's still a ghost at the end of the day). He also unfortunately can't touch or interact with his ghost friends, and sometimes he can't even speak or hear them, unless he puts in the same amount of focus and effort he needs to interact with the living. He can always see the ghosts, though, so they all found a way to mime what they want when his ghost powers go funky. Sometimes, his spirit is just too confused that he can't control what it does, so there are moments where he tries to walk through a wall but face-plants right into it, or he tries to speak to Mike/Alison and they don't hear anything. Same for when he tries to speak or hear the ghosts. TL;DR, i have a silly bbc ghosts oc insert that i went a bit too creative and silly with when i was thinking of his ghost powers and now his ghost powers (which would sometimes seem like a blessing to the other ghosts) also is a curse.

So here i am, at home drinking rum and diet coke while playing the new Moomin game. All the while wearing a green Guinness themed t shirt because staying in doesn’t mean i can’t be festive

March review!

The big theme of the month was Luna, trying her and then buying her and proceeding to buy all of the purple gear for her

I hung out with the boy a lot and we made and had a lot of colored food. He brought over ube ice cream, I forced upon him my green st paddy’s day cinnamon rolls, and then he brought over ube jam so we could make purple cookies which I then covered in purple sparkle glitter spray because obviously.

Got my hair cut and colored and continued to try and work on my ~wavy hair journey~

I also had a bit of role transition at work and now I’m back working half time on my favorite space craft and getting to help plan a cool observation on it which has been really lovely. The other half of work has not been going as well, I don’t understand that spacecraft as well so the work is harder so I avoid it and then I don’t do as well on it and am generally behind on everything and then still never learn it. But such it goes.

I also started birth control (nuva ring) which is going well minus the fact that I’ve developed some sort of skin rash, eczema thing. Although I’m not entirely sure it’s related, but it came up at the same time and hormone changes can cause skin issues soooo. I also think it partly might just be from irritation from sleeping with boy and being more sweaty and night and the like cuddling friction. I bought some medicated lotion that seems to be helping so hopefully that clears up. Mostly I need to stop to scraping it but I am so bad at that.

Scheduled a gutter cleaning and got some estimates for dry wall repair done but no actual work. Still need to get wc and furnace people. And also deal with my whole yard. It’s a disaster right now. And finish my taxes.

Went to a bunch of masters tryouts and other frisbee things to. Been trying to keep up with weight lifting and running but it’s been hard as I’ve been spending more time riding and playing frisbee.

Slowly but sure working through my 23 goals for 2023 list. Succeeded in buying a horse, gave one birthday card, read three more books, bought plastic drain pipe extenders to complete my buy 11 things off of my to buy list, knocked the go on at least 12 dates this year way out of the park, made progress on photo and data management. Over all a successful month!

Here’s hoping things to continue to go well in April and maybe we can be done with the snow and the cold finally!

𝑆𝑙𝑒𝑒𝑝𝑦 𝑠𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠 This year, St. Paddy’s Day coincides with World Sleep Day, so I’m staying under my green covers (all the puns)—no one can pinch me now muahahaaa! We finally have some sun for like a day & then the storms are back tomorrow, so I'll just be flipping through some of these spring throwbacks until summer. The 2023 theme for World Sleep Day is “Sleep Is Essential for Health'' & my sleep hygiene is something I’m resolved to improve. I’ve worked out the best bedroom setup for me & my partner, but we both struggle with powering down our devices a few hours before bed (& how can I not use my phone or tablet to read in bed?!). It’s probably not great that I feel so bereft if I leave my phone in another room lol, or even just slightly out of reach, so I should probably work on that. A "next-generation" diner with nostalgic 80s and 90s vibes (and gigantic shakes), JoJo's ShakeBar offered a small assortment of themed, drinkable treats for 2023s Easter season.

These included such sweets as Funfetti Baked Hot Chocolate, Peep Show Hot Chocolate, and their "biggie shake" of the holiday, the Peeps and Cream Shake, a peach-flavored shake covered in marshmallow Peeps, cotton candy, and a chocolate egg "nest"!

This Funny Food practically fell into my lap! I was eating at my local JoJo's and they pointed out their Easter offerings, so I *had* to take a pic of the menu for Research Purposes. I didn't end up ordering anything off the special menu, as while the shake sounded fun, I wasn't a huge enough fan of peach to commit to it. Apparently they had a St. Paddy's Day menu as well that I missed- need to track that down at some point!
