Like every Brazilian musician, I've always been passionate about #chôro. I love everything about it: the happy-party spirit, how the melodies relate to the title of the songs, the history behind this music style, but most importantly, its endless arranging possibilities. My fellow 'Mateadora' and good friend @elsanilssonmusic and I did a spin on #BichoCarpinteiro, one of my favorite chôros, composed by #ÂngeloReale. Originally, it was supposed to be a #maxixe for accordion with basic chords. Elsita and I did a little reharm, and played it as a 'funkfied' #baião. Super fun :) . 🎥@butterhu . I sometimes get asked about my #compositionprocess. Honestly, I never know how to answer these questions. . I don't have a specific process or 'formula.' . When I'm writing a new song, I try to stay away from the bass; my goal is not to write things that 'fit under my left hand,' but to come up with melodies that make me happy. . While doing some #summercleaning , I just found sketches of 2 songs that I wrote for my band, #TheMateadors. . I don't really know how I got into the final 'draft' - which is the 'chart' that I handed to my #bandmates [@elsanilssonmusic + @jeffmclaughlinmusic + #LautaroBurgos ], but what I can tell you the way it begins is that I get inspired by a human being or something- in this case, two soccer players. Then, I try to figure out how this #inspiration sounds in my head. I try to 'hear' a melody inside my head. After that, I go on the piano, and I try to find the chords matching this idea against the #melody. . This can be a long and #painful process. I'll do many rewrites. Once I think that I might have that chord melody thing worked out [in relation to the 'main inspiration'], then I try to hear a groove and a bassline. . I try as much as I can to stay away from my main instrument. . Every composer has a different process and modus operandi.
