i keep thinking about chris’s “i tried complaining once, it didn’t work” line and also how he’s super witty and funny and perceptive and also A Teenager and how that all would influence the way he navigates a world that isn’t always accessible to him…

just imagining post-ladder-truck-crush-injury buck and chris both using crutches while buck is still getting used to things suddenly being inaccessible to him and getting like, little zingers of insights and life lessons from his best friend’s kid while out and about. chris showing him how he gets up and down the tall curbs when a sidewalk is blocked off unexpectedly, and very loudly and often proclaiming his distain for the “fuck-you” steps (the 1-2 tiny steps at the front doors of houses and buildings that immediately make that entrance no longer accessible)

like buck researches a couple of easy activities for them to try while he’s is still healing and tired and is looking into the establishment’s accessibility accommodations, and hey! the place says on the website that they’re wheelchair friendly! that usually covers his and chris’s bases, so they should be good to go. but when they get there it turns out that, while there IS an accessible entrance with a “ramp”, it’s actually the cargo loading zone that’s literally on the other side of the building which would require them to walk a couple of extra blocks up and back down the street on the other side. obviously they can still get in, but buck feels awful because that’s not what he wanted out of his preparedness. chris just tells him “it’s okay, it happens a lot actually”, and buck is even MORE sad about it, but chris just conspiratorially adds “this is my favorite kind” and starts making his way towards the set of like, idk eight stairs at the front of this building. buck is obviously confused and looks at eddie who just shakes his head fondly, sighs and says “yeah, he does this sometimes” before encouraging buck to follow. when buck finally reaches chris, he’s balancing his crutches on the first stair and turns to buck to whisper “now we get to make them feel bad about it” and proceeds to very feebly, very slowly—and buck has seen chris rough and tumble and rocket his way through things that could (and do) trip him up, this is the most dramatic act of put-upon helplessness buck has EVER seen from this kid—make his way up the stairs. he even sticks his bottom lip out into a little pout for good measure. one of the staff sees them through the glass doors and comes out to tell them about the “ramp” in the back of the building, and before buck can even think of what to say in response, chris is just telling them, very sadly, that he “wouldn’t be able to walk that far without getting too tired 😔😔😔” and continues his hammed-up, sad, slow trek up the stairs while a very harried staff member kind of hovers, not knowing what to do.

buck has to bite his cheek to keep himself from laughing at chris’ act, and then again at the face the staff member makes when they catch sight of buck too, as he begins very dutifully following chris’s lead, eddie in their wake.

A friend of ours may be doing a lil PBP VTM game and we MAY play (you never know how these things pan out) and we have two different duo concepts for it! Bear in mind these are rough concepts and not 100% fleshed out. The first concept is our favorite but because it's our friend's first time ST-ing we probably won't be doing it because it's a little complicated: Sixthplaneteer would be a Toreador former successful author who was psychologically tortured and molded by their Sire to believe they are their own protagonist character. Fully believe they're some Supernatural-following gumshoe detective and their own created universe is THE real world. Follows the tropes, believes in everything and nothing all at once. My character would be a Malkavian who begins to "hear the Narrator" when she first wakes up from her own Embrace, and so is "fully aware they're a book character" and is afraid of unravelling the narrative so she follows along with the Toreador who she also fully believes is THE book character. She knows it's all fake but the show must go on for the sake of their reality! The second concept is much more straightforward and better for a first timer campaign. We would be playing clans we assigned the other because we believe we would ACTUALLY be warmly Embraced by them: Sixthplaneteer would be playing a Toreador priest who is struggling with the confirmation of faith and yet the spurring of God's love due to being turned. Very into the aesthetics of his church of course. I am playing a rough and tumble Brujah who has like zero respect for the padre here and we're butting heads while having to work together. I'm still working on a good mold to put them in but I'll definitely be playing a guy this go-around! Planeteer and I don't normally IN-PLAY play couples (Nyth and Noa become best friends but that's also due to quiet PBP servers) but we got the chemistry so we thought it'd be spicy to play these two.... >_> Very excited I hope it happens!!

and then they grow apart and estranged and bakugou thinks he can finally outrun this clawing feeling deep in his gut that he doesn't want to recognize by going to UA and leaving deku in the dust - only to have deku follow him there too, and sit right behind him in class, and the physical proximity tortures katsuki by tempting him with what he used to have

and he just yearns for them to touch

to brush shoulders, to bump knees, even if it's on accident it still counts to katsuki. and he hates it and hates himself for wanting it and the entire time he's mentally abusing himself for this weak and needy part of himself

deku wants it just as badly.

bestie you GET IT cause like I kinda talk about this in a different ask I haven’t posted yet about all my random bkdk headcanons but bakugou’s love languages are words of affirmation (if done in the right way and I can expand more on this later if wanted) and physical touch.

And like he doesn’t know this growing up. Love languages are like… the last thing on this kids mind so he doesn’t really understand why, when he’s feeling stressed or needing a little extra bravery as a kid, holding onto tiny baby izuku’s hand makes him breath easier or ruffling izuku's hair even as he teases him for how curly it is makes him have a bundle of warmth in his chest for the rest of the day. And even as rough as bakugou can be as kids, izuku never shy's away from it, is never scared of it because he can feel the underlying affection in bakugou's actions. Which is why it then HURTS so much when his favorite person in the whole world finally gets his quirk and he’s expecting a tackled hug to the ground, expecting a high five and his hair being ruffled, and instead he is being shoved to the ground and laughed at. And izuku can feel that this time it’s different because the underlying affection those actions used to hold are gone.

Everytime after that when bakugou touches him its not nice, its not affectionate, it actually hurts and is mean and bakugou is laughing at him, but not in a loving teasing way, but in a cruel way. kacchan is being cruel. And bakugou doesn’t know why he does it at first, it actually makes him feel sick because everytime he pushes izuku away, shoves him down, it makes him feel like he’s burning himself on an oven but for some reason he can’t stop doing it. The bundle of warmth in his chest slowly turning into a rock of resentment that he hates. Hates himself for it and hates deku for it too because maybe if he’d stop coming around, bakugou would stop hurting him. Which is why when he’s tumbling off a log and the only person to check up on him, to try and help him up is deku, it just sets him off. Because he so badly wants to take the hand being offered but he’s only five, he’s confused and angry and he keeps hurting the one person that seems to actually care and he doesn’t understand why he slaps the hand away when he so desperately wants to take it. Doesn’t understand why he shoves deku down into the water, leaving him there all on his own. Doesn’t understand why walking away makes him want to throw up. Doesn’t understand why deku won’t stop shoving in his face the one thing he’s not allowed to have. Doesn’t understand why or when izuku became deku.

And so izuku gets it, stays out of bakugou's way and all the while desperately misses the rough affection he used to get from his best friend. Time moves on, they go through middle school and they make it to UA, and izuku understands why him going to UA would make bakugou mad, but he doesn’t understand why, after all the effort he goes through to stay out of his way, he still finds a way to get his hands on izuku. Either shoving him out of the way with his shoulder or punching him in the arm or slapping his hands out of the way when he’s in the middle of an assignment. He doesn’t get it. Because yes, bakugou is an asshole to pretty much everyone, but he’s a more hands-on asshole with izuku and he just doesn’t get it. And izuku will never admit this to anyone but he can’t seem to be too mad or upset about the shoving or the punching or the slapping because for some twisted reason it eases an ache in his chest everytime bakugou touches him, eases the longing he has for his best friends affection.

What he doesn’t realize is it eases the same ache in bakugou's chest since the first time he started being cruel to izuku, because as much as it physically hurts him to hurt izuku, he is so very selfish and believes the that pain is worth it to be able to breathe just a little bit easier.

(and not that izuku would ever doubt the truthfulness of what kacchan says to him, but he knew without a doubt that bakugous apology was real and genuine because as he was collapsing on the ground, the way bakugou caught him when he fell held all the affection they’d both been missing for years.)

My Favorite ROP Characters as Crystals

I needed something fun and low-stakes to keep my mind off Real Life Things, so here are the crystals I associate with some of my favorite Rings of Power characters 💎💍💎

Adar, Celebrimbor, Annatar, Mirdania, Elrond, Galadriel, & Gil-Galad under the cut.

🖤Adar🖤 Black Tourmaline

Black Tourmaline is one of the most protective crystals. Black Tourmaline has a Mohs hardness of 7-7.5 so it is fairly resistant to scratching. Unlike Uruks, you can put Black Tourmaline in the sun, but extreme heat or temperature changes can damage it. Metaphysically along with protection it is said to purify and transmute negative energy in the auric field and in the environment. Physically, it has high iron levels so it’s also highly magnetic, which tracks because regardless of how other characters feel about it, no one can ever seem to get out of being in close proximity to this Uruk. The downside of Black Tourmaline in my experience is that it can be a little too grounding on the root chakra so if you’re in a bad place it can pull you down even further until you’re just sort of obsessed over safety and physical resources. And if there’s one guy that needs to get out of his root chakra from time to time, it’s Adar. (If you’re giving me the side eye emoji guy 😏 thinking about Adar’s root chakra, you know very well that’s not what I meant. Also, let’s be friends.) It doesn’t help that I think Nenya looks a lot like raw Blue Celestite which has a very high vibe crown chakra energy, and the little time he had with it was enough to knock some clarity into Adar. So, yeah, he needs all the high vibes he can get, but he’s still more of a root guy overall. The rough/raw form of Black Tourmaline is pretty much Adar’s aesthetic to a T, honestly his sword has the same texture on parts of it. But the crystal can also be polished and is often made into jewelry so you can carry its protective properties with you. Which for someone who apparently hasn’t changed clothes in like three thousand years, a pendant would probably be right up his alley.

[I almost picked Black Obsidian for being volcanic glass and also possessing protective qualities, but it was just a lil too shiny so the tourmaline won.]

🍯Celebrimbor🍯 Honey Calcite

All right, look, calcite is one of the most common minerals on earth and it comes in such a variety of vibrant colors (a lot of them look like candy) that they have been given an array of trade names related to food, but when it comes to Honey Calcite (also called Golden or Amber calcite) I’ll give it a pass. You look at this crystal and it just looks like honey and all the connotations that come with it: sweet, comforting, warming, joyous. Which are all the things I think about when I see Celebrimbor. Metaphysically this crystal contains properties befitting the greatest of Elven smiths: creativity, willpower, strength, confidence, resilience, clarity, and focus, among others. Physically, though, you have to be more careful with Honey Calcite than other stones. It comes in at only a 3 on the Mohs scale of hardness so it is susceptible to scratching and you shouldn’t leave it in the sun or put it in water. It can be and is carved but only when handling it properly. Raw and tumbled forms of this crystal are pretty widely available. All in all I think this describes Celebrimbor pretty well. He’s open and eager to share, grow, and learn. He is strong, focused, and driven. But his weaknesses and fears over his familial past become flimsy containers for his principles and ideals. Rather than focus on his end though, I prefer to think of the time when he built up his craft. Those years no doubt were industrious, warm, joyous, and creative in many different ways. Things we all hope to return to when times of darkness fall upon us. Things that Celebrimbor’s story gives us.

✨Annatar✨ Pyrite

I know, I know, it’s kind of low hanging fruit to attribute literal FOOL’S GOLD to Annatar, but it’s much more than that. What other crystal befitting this “Lord of Gifts” other than the pinnacle of the nature museum gift shop that is pyrite. Like, yes, the other colorful smooth tumble stones are pretty and did stuff to my brain but those dense sparkling chunks of gold were what my eight-year-old heart truly longed for and I would have considered crimes at the very least of murder to score a piece or two. And I don’t know what it is about it but as an adult pyrite continues to be one of my favorite crystals. What’s even more, I for some inexplicable reason love tumbled pyrite. Have you seen tumbled pyrite? Not like the polite smooth sort, I’m talking the feral kind with all the little craters and pockets. I saw a meme once that said whoever was the first to decide to tumble pyrite should be sent to jail forever, and it’s true but also, I love it? My tumbled piece of pyrite is probably my favorite in my collection. How? Why? I don’t know. It attracts and it repels. It manifests and it reflects bad stuff away. All my chakras sing for this stupid stone. It’s so dense, it gives me everything I want. Pyrite is only a 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness which isn’t bad, but it’s not great, either. Pyrite does tend to be brittle and breaks/powders easily. Even though the natural cubic formations are largely the most interesting and prized, that hasn’t stopped people from carving the material into any and every shape you could want (even the audacity that is tumbled) or to use it in jewelry. So, yes, Annatar is pyrite. I hope someone lobs a piece of it at his head then kisses it better.

🤍Mirdania🤍 Stilbite

The energy of this crystal is compassionate and calming. Metaphysically it is used in matters of emotions and can help with understanding dreams. Overall it has a very nourishing and peaceful energy. Physically, Stilbite rates 3.5-4 on the Mohs scale of hardness, so it is a fairly soft stone. However it is not as fragile as some other softer crystals. You can briefly get it wet or place it in the sun without damaging it. Naturally the crystal forms in clusters but it can be polished. Clusters/raw pieces, tumbles, and palm stones are popular. The peachy, gleamy color of this crystal is what made me think of Mirdania at first, but the other properties of the stone fit well, too. She is nourishing in her relationships but she is strong and driven in her forge work. She stands up in her own way when she feels like action needs to be taken. Her softness isn’t fragile, necessarily, but it can be taken advantage of. Overall I think she values trust and harmony. This stone is also associated with wisdom, truth, and enlightenment. Certainly all traits Celebrimbor would have valued in her work as one of his smiths. And not to come off like Creepy Annatar, here, but I think this stone greatly matches her gentle beauty. **Does NOT reach out to touch her hair**

💙Elrond💙 Lazulite

Lazulite isn’t a super well known crystal, but polished pieces of it are fairly easy to find and purchase. It has a darker purply blue color with speckles that look like a dreamy, cloudy night sky. Physically it has a Mohs hardness rating of 5.5-6.5 so it can be susceptible to scratching from harder materials. Brief encounters with water or sunlight will not damage it. When I first got my piece of Lazulite, I immediately associated it with Elrond, because of the likeness it has to stars and the night sky, but also in the measured wisdom this crystal exudes. Metaphysically this stone holds psychic properties most apropos for an elf known for his gift of foresight: intuition, interdimensional communication, transformation, channeling, clairvoyance, and attunement to higher realms. Elrond always struck me as a very third eye centered person, overthinking things most of the time but only because his intuition about what it right tends to be met with backlash. The ability to fight and stand up for himself while also caring deeply for others has been quite a journey for him and is where his wisdom becomes derived from in his later years. That’s the vibe I get from Lazulite. The sky may be vast, dark, and overwhelming, but you can still look to it for guidance, light, and connecting the dots. You’ll get there in the end, and if you’re mindful, you can remain as kind as summer while you do it.

💛Galadriel💛 Rutilated Quartz / Rutile

Rutilated Quartz is when needle-like inclusions of goldish to copper hues grow within quartz. For Galadriel, I most associate the type that have gold inclusions within a super Clear Quartz. These are also known as Angel Hair Quartz, and even though it’s more of a LOTR thing in which she gifts Gimli her hair, I associate all eras of Galadriel with this crystal. As one of the most powerful and fair of all elves, Rutilated Quartz also looks magical and otherworldly, and high quality pieces are nothing short of dazzling. The sharp, spiky look of some more aggressive Rutile is a great illustration of her sharp skills as a warrior, and veer away from being particularly beautiful into being downright scary. Clear Quartz is said metaphysically to be an amplifier of energy, so it gives a boost and enhancement to any other crystal you pair it with. (Glares at Sauron.) Rutilated Quartz rates 6-7.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness, so it is pretty durable. The list of metaphysical properties of Rutilated Quartz is vast and far too many to list, but most of the properties are action oriented and powerful. This is not a restful crystal, this is a get !@#$ done and make things happen crystal. Even if that means sometimes you stab first and think later. Overall I think this crystal perfectly encapsulates the Lady of Light in all her complexities and brightness.

💜Gil-Galad💜Amethyst

Now before you get all uppity that I didn’t choose a gold or yellow crystal… 1) I’ll get to that… and 2) you cannot say he exudes solar plexus sunshine energy. He may be adorned in gold lamé but in his soul he is tired and he is Done.

First off, the reigning royalty of the crystal world is Amethyst. There’s probably not a single crystal collector who doesn’t have at least one piece of Amethyst. Every beginner set of tumbled stones includes an Amethyst because that’s The Law. Perhaps because of this, everyone thinks Amethyst can Do It All. And let’s be honest, Amethyst also thinks it can Do It All. It cannot, but it is still constantly thrown into every imaginable situation, and, well. She does her best (gender neutral). Metaphysically Amethyst is known for everything from physical healing to spiritual and psychic properties. On the Mohs scale, Amethyst comes in at a 7. One thing to be wary of is that Amethyst will fade in the sun. However, it is safe to put in water.

When Amethyst, typically purple in color, is heated it turns into Citrine which is yellow. (Very complementary as the opposite of purple on the color wheel is yellow.) Natural Citrine that has been mined from the ground tends to be a darker, brownish yellow, while Amethyst mined then heat-treated to turn into Citrine is a brighter more lemon looking yellow. There is a lot of heat-treated Citrine on the market. It’s not a “fake” crystal, but it was treated to change the color. If you want the natural “real” Citrine, you’ll have to do a little investigating but once you know what you’re looking for, it’s fairly easy to spot the difference. There are examples of crystals where part of the stone has turned into yellow Citrine but part of the stone remains purple Amethyst and these are called Ametrine.

All of that to say, our High King has had to be put under a lot of pressure to be this golden and under all that heat he’s just an overworked, broody but beautiful little gem. Still, he carries on. Highly coveted but does anyone really appreciate who he genuinely is?! Give this elf a break, a hug, a back rub. Just don’t leave him out in the sun for too long.

Last post of the summer!! If you can’t already tell, the neo trio has my heart in a chokehold (/pos/silly), so I decided to draw them as if they were in highschool lmfao

There’s a ramble below this btw— (potential spoilers, oops)

Okay I’m done hiding my epithet obsession behind the tons of audio recordings dedicated to my rambling saved to my phone. Here is everything I love about my sweet pookie bears—

I like their whole group’s dynamic sm, especially since they’re all drastically different in style and attitude, but they all balance each other out really well

Feenie is literally me— tons of book smarts but struggles with street smarts (and no, ztreet zmartz for kidz doesn’t count 😭). She’s also so dramatic and kind and her entire personality is so hilarious to read and listen to. Also I’m very pleased to say that I can do a pretty decent impression of her (mainly because her intro in the gold collection video is one of my favorite things to quote ever. literally, i’ve been saying it non-stop all day because its just that fun to say aloud).

Trixie has all the confidence I wish I had— she acknowledges how not all confidence is genuine, and yet she uses her rough and tumble energy to support and defend her friends. Her whole obsession with the occult is so cool, and I really hope that Jello uses her abilities to gateway into her potentially finding out what her epithet is— I also love how Feenie has an alarm to switch their pronouns, that was really funny. (I have an OC who’s inspired by her lmao)

AND OF COURSE, MOLLY-WOLLY-DOODLE-ALL-THE-WAY! She balances her friend group out so well with her chill personality. While all three of them are anxious at times, I love how Molly isn’t afraid to come up with a plan, even if it involves putting herself in danger to protect everyone else. She reminds me of myself at her age, as I used to struggle with being a people pleaser who struggled to insert myself and defend my beliefs. I love her whole gateway to becoming more assertive in the show and how she used that to save the people she cares about (including Lori, in a way).

If I knew how to draw Lizard Wizard Shades, I would, but I can’t. I’d also ramble about him for twice as long, but it’d make more sense with the content of the post if I had drawn him too, so I’ll save that for another day. :3

im really endeared by your concepts for re_rise, i was unsatisfied by return of the mammilians and you’ve put together a really sound story! about to say what i’ve taken from it, so sorry if there’s some innacuracy…

my favorite part off the bat is switching the splatoon for deep cut. imo they’ve been the unquestionable good guys for way too long. plus accidentally working against an oblivious/aimless squidbeak splatoon who’s goal is just to get their gramps back, when youve been investigating grizzco and alterna all game is just a refreshing and well contrasting take on a story. it feels like acknowledgment for the previous campaigns story flaws (being it’s in-general non seriousness!!!)

i always felt deep cut always had the potential to be a bunch of very cool and laid back mentors. they just seemed experienced in what they do, and working alongside them sounds VERY cool for a 14 or so year old cephalokid. (additionally, thered be a break in formula by not making the new kid an agent, rather a personal member of deep cuts heist squad. WAY cooler!!!) always felt their dialogue and personalities are pretty exaggerated when they’re on-air, so seeing what they’re like without an audience sounds more than interesting. if that’s the route you go, itd be another way to set them apart from the previous idol bands, who are always their authentic entertainer-type selves when cameras are on. in that case, what would they be like? what things would they feel like talking about? how different would they really act? all things you can answer if you want. but that was my love letter! thanks for writing up such cool concepts, and making such amazing designs. i even made little analyses on them for the color choice… this is long enough already though. tldr thank you!!! 🩷

So I totally agree with you about the idea of the player character not being an agent for once…even though I still technically call them Neo/New Agent 3. ^^; I just couldn’t think of my own thing to call them; I feel like such a huge break away from the series’ convention is something that should be determined by the canon…and probably will be soon if my predictions about Splatoon 4 turn out to be correct. ;)

I guess it would be cute if Deep Cut gave them a funky nickname instead, like ‘Shark-bait’ or something. Although that would work better if they all had nicknames for each other; like true alter-egos for their bandit work…I would like that~.

Anyway, as for the main question: tbh I didn’t really put much thought into how Deep Cut’s personalities might change…but that’s mostly because I felt a ton of added depth would be inevitable, by the simple act of elevating them from roadblocks to actual characters you can interact with. ^^; So this is basically what I would do:

-Shiver kinda has a ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’ girlboss thing going on (I think?? Tbh for a series as campy as Splatoon, her characterization is really weak…) so I think her alter-ego should have a more grounded, ‘wise mentor’ persona. Like, she can still trash-talk you and keep that ruthless attitude that she has, but here we’d supplement that with real teaching moments and positive affirmation to show why people should really be drawn to her.

-Meanwhile, Frye has this hyper-cute yet ‘rough-and-tumble’ personality, so I think her alter-ego should be more laid-back and relaxed. This way she can keep her positive demeanor; she’ll just express it in a different way, maybe showing the audience more of her mature and sensitive side. 

-Last but not least, Big Man is characterized as a typical airhead, with hints of a responsible ‘parent friend’ (eugh) underneath…so I would let him be more serious as a bandit, maybe even a little edgy. Of course, seeing as he’s a giant manta ray with an (owo) face, ‘edgy’ is probably still gonna come off as comedic for him, but I think that’s fine as long as he has actual moments of gravity to ground them. I want him to feel like a real ‘senpai’ for the player character, not just a funny mascot…y’know, occasionally commanding the respect that you’d think a ‘parent friend’ would have.

and i dunno but benjamin gives you vibes that his bathroom would be clean and so you...go for it

you couldnt have shame if they paid you so you're just out here causally breaking into fucking tijuana's biggest drug dealer's room

going in to take a shower, showering you know and then as you come out with like a robe wrapped around yourself and drying yout hair, benjamin is entering the room

and there's just this moment where benjamin is looking at you like with like a what the fuck but like amused face

and you're like "look, where else did you want me to go? i'm def not fucking showering in ramon's shower"

and benjamin is like "hm i don't know maybe???? the freaking guest bathroom"

and you laughing him off the face of the planet

and okay imagine he has like documents laying around his room because he wakes up in the middle of the night and worries about bus iness stuff because that's him

anyways you saw it and you idk just have this knack for business or math and you just walk up past him brushing against him and kiss his cheek and are like "thanks for sharing the bathroom with me, and if you raise the tax 1.5 percent over 6 months you'll cover that cost" you note motioning your head towards the document and walking away AHHH

I got this part out of the opening scene of the chapter, but I have to warn you that I am yet to review or edit anything, so it might change a little bit yet.

"I was wondering when you'd come out."

Caroline sighs. Of course, Kol would know she was there. She wonders what it means that he didn't tell the others. Maybe he was trying to spare her, or maybe he just didn't want her presence to overshadow a moment that should be entirely about Davina. Either way, she's grateful.

"I almost didn't. Wasn't sure I should even be here, to be honest."

"Where are your loyal wardens?" he asks flatly. "Don't tell me they're so overcome with guilt after condemning an innocent girl to hell that they couldn't indulge in a bit of gloom. It's their favorite kind of party."

"Klaus wanted to come," Caroline admits. "But I told him not to. Didn't think it would be wise."

Kol huffs out a weak snort. "Since when does he care about being wise?"

"He doesn't," she replies. "But I do."

"Right. And he always listens to you." He pauses. "It must be nice to have family who gives a damn about what you think."

Caroline's jaw sets. She lets her eyes focus on the elegantly carved letters of Davina's name on the headstone. It's beautiful, but rough. Not a lot of details, no quotes or messages about her being a good friend, a loving girlfriend. Feels hurried. Unfinished. Less than she deserved.

"I hated Davina when she tried to Klaus," she says after a moment, words tumbling out of her mouth without consent before she can give them a second thought. "I didn't hate, hate her. Not really. But in that moment, while she was there screaming her spell from the top of her lungs, saying that he'd lived long enough… I hated her then. She didn't really care whether he survived that whole thing or not. She wanted to get you back and she was willing to sacrifice whatever it took to do it."

"What are you on about?" Kol turns to her, a sharp edge to his voice. "Nik didn't die."

"Because Marcel betrayed her, and Stefan and I let an unstoppable huntress with a magic stone loose in the city to create enough diversion that could have backfired in so many ways, just so we could stop it. And then I killed Aya with my bare hands before she could have the chance to try again, and took back the white oak bullet she was going to use to test the effectiveness of Davina's de-linking spell,” she lists. “If that sounds like a too long and complicated combination, it's because it was. It took a village for Klaus to get out of that place alive, and if any of those things had failed, he wouldn't be here right now. And even then, Davina still managed to break his sire line, which made him vulnerable, including to Lucien, who was then free to threaten him and everyone else at will, because his life was no longer tethered to Klaus'." Kol's expression darkens. If looks could kill, Caroline would probably drop dead right there and then. But still, she keeps going. "She knew what she was doing, she knew the consequences, and she didn't care because getting you back meant more to her than Klaus' life."

"I wonder why," Kol hisses. "You talk as if Nik hadn't given her extraordinarily strong reasons to have such disregard for his well-being."

"I'm not questioning that, Kol. Klaus is… Klaus. Whenever someone tells me they hate him, I just assume they have a good reason. It's usually the case. She did, too. But that's beside the point. What I'm saying is that she made a choice that night, and I’m sure it wasn’t an easy one, if not for Klaus, then for everyone else who stood to lose if she failed, including Marcel. We're all put in impossible positions sometimes, and we have to make choices that we might regret for the rest of eternity."

"That's brilliant," he says, lips twisted into an awful smile. "I expected that kind of bollocks from Elijah, but I thought you, of all people, would not try to defend the indefensible."

"I'm not defending it. And I understand your anger, Kol. I really do. Better than I wish, actually. I never wanted Davina to get hurt or to pay for what she did. I don't think she deserved what happened to her. You trusted your family, and… They let you down," she says, her voice fraying around the edges. "You're right. You should hate us. You, Marcel, Vincent. I would hate us, too. But what I can't stop thinking is that I hope I'm never put in the same position as Elijah and Freya. I hope I never have to find out who I would be willing to sacrifice for my daughter, or for Klaus. I wish I could say that I would do the right thing, but the truth is… I don't know. And I would hate to find out. Because there is no right answer. There's only a guilt that eats away at you, and then living with the consequences of your choice. I mean, yesterday would’ve ended in a funeral either way. If not Davina's, then mine and Klaus'. I'm sure you'd be happy to have her back, and regardless of your feelings for us, you'd feel sorry for your niece. But because of what Elijah and Freya did, I'm here today, and Davina is not. I'm grateful to be alive, but I'm not happy. No one is. I wish it didn't have to be like that."

Caroline swallows around the tight lump in her throat, forcing back the tears threatening to escape. Somehow, she doesn't think she gets to cry over this. Not here. Not in front of Kol.

Kol's jaw clenches, his face scrunched up with an emotion she can't really define.

Caroline hesitates, considers telling him that he will always have a home with them, but decides not to. He doesn't want to hear that right now. Not from her, anyway.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Kol," she says instead, and means it. "I really am."

Then she turns away and leaves him to mourn Davina in peace.

Character ask: The Robber Girl (The Snow Queen)

No one asked me, I just felt like sharing because I've been thinking about this story lately.

Favorite thing about them: How remarkably complex she is for a fairy tale character, especially a little girl. She's introduced as a savage little brat, in total contrast to the gentle, innocent Gerda. Yet from the start Andersen hints at her better nature, as she saves Gerda from being killed (albeit for selfish reasons, to force her to be her playmate), and her eyes are described as melancholy. We realize that she's a product of her upbringing, as we see her vicious drunkard mother and the un-familial way they treat each other. And of course, she eventually proves her inner goodness by becoming a genuine friend to Gerda and letting her go with the Reindeer. Yet she does this without losing any of her rough-and-tumble demeanor. There are very few characters in children's stories quite like her.

Least favorite thing about them: Her habit of casually threatening to kill Gerda in the earlier part of their acquaintance, and the way she teases the Reindeer with her knife and laughs at his terror. Did Andersen need to give her that much of a sadistic streak?

Three things I have in common with them:

*I'm broad-shouldered and have dark eyes.

*I can sometimes be selfish, but compassionate and caring too.

*I love animals.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I'm not a robber.

*I don't sleep with a knife in my hand.

*I don't torture animals for fun.

Favorite line:

This passage as she lets Gerda go, with its blend of rough yet sincere kindness, lingering selfishness, and irreverent humor:

"Here, take back your fur boots, for it's going to be bitter cold. I'll keep your muff, because it's such a pretty one. But your fingers mustn't get cold. Here are my mother's big mittens, which will come right up to your elbows. Pull them on. Now your hands look just like my ugly mother's big paws."

Her words to Kai when she meets him for the first time near the end:

"You're a fine one for gadding about. I'd just like to know whether you deserve to have someone running to the end of the earth for your sake."

From the Faerie Tale Theatre adaptation:

"Fraidy-cats like you give girls a bad name! The forest is no place for sugar and spice and everything nice! If you run with the wolves like me, you gotta be quick as a cricket and brave as a bear!"

"If word gets out I took pity on a city girl, I'll be booted out of the robbers' league for sure!"

brOTP: Gerda.

In crossover-land, I might also like to see her meet Éponine from Les Misérables, since they have a lot in common. Both are the abused daughters of ruthless criminals, both are wild, hardened, amoral girls as a result, both can stand up to a band of armed robbers and get their own way, and both sometimes skirt the edge between "good guy" and "bad guy." Yet both become deeply attached to one of the protagonists, which reveals their capacity for caring and unselfishness, and they both help to bring the story's innocent girl and boy together. Of course there are key differences too. The Robber Girl is a child, while Éponine is a teenager; the Robber Girl is robust, fierce, and aggressive, while Éponine is more frail, ghostly, and whimsical (in the novel, at least – I've seen productions of the musical that played her more like the Robber Girl); and of the aforementioned boy and girl they help to reunite, Éponine is devoted to the boy, while the Robber Girl is devoted to the girl. But I still wonder if Victor Hugo drew just a little inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen in this case.

OTP: Maybe Gerda, if you view Gerda's love for Kai as sibling-like.

nOTP: Her mother, or any of the adult robbers.

Random headcanon: This isn't a rare or original headcanon, but I'll cite it anyway: she's a baby lesbian with a crush on Gerda. Now, I won't pretend this is the only way to read her. She can also be seen as just a lonely, mistreated child desperate for a friend. But in a story written by a bisexual author, she wraps her arm around Gerda's waist as they ride together, insists that Gerda share her bed, sleeps with her arms around Gerda's neck, and playfully insults Kai (her male "rival" for Gerda's affections) when she eventually meets him. Does that seem entirely platonic?

Even Disney seems to have seen it, since when they very loosely adapted the story as Frozen, they made the Robber Girl's counterpart into a male – though Kristoff isn't a criminal, or as wild or initially nasty as the Robber Girl, he's still the gruff, unsociable reindeer-owner who becomes the heroine's unlikely friend and helper – and made him the love interest of Gerda's counterpart Anna.

Unpopular opinion: Her appeal for me isn't because she's "badass." Repeatedly I've seen critics fixate on her feistiness as the reason to like her. But while it is endearing – and I do like that she's not "tamed" in any way, but gets to end the story by leaving her mother and setting out with a stolen horse and pistols to explore the world – that's not what matters most about her. It's that she has all the potential to be a villain, and at first she seems as if she'll be one, yet she feels compassion for Gerda, and as a result, without losing her hard edge or changing too much to believe, she chooses to do good.

Song I associate with them: None in particular.

ask game for Mei & Red Son???

Two characters??? Aight!!!

Starting off with Mei!

Love her. One of my absolute favorite female characters.

People I ship Mei with: Red Son. I like the chemistry the two of them have in a romantic setting, but I have yet to read some good Dragonfruit fics that don't butcher Mei's rough-and-tumble attitude to make her fit the stereotypical female role in a hetero ship.

My non-romantic OTP for Mei: MK. They are ride or die best friends. They are siblings. They are everything a good family is to each other.

I don't think I really have an unpopular opinion about Mei, unless you count I sometimes headcanon her as trans (depending on the fic that is) (is that even an unpopular headcanon tho?)

And one thing I wish they had gone into more detail with Mei is the tension she has with her parents. It was barely even touched on the only episode where we see Mei's parents and I want to know ✨more✨

And now onto the best flame boi (sorry, Kai): Red Son!

He is honestly a very well-rounded character that is hiding behind a two dimensional facade. It's more obvious when you watch the later seasons and then go back to watch the earlier ones. He's putting up a front but Mei and MK are tag teaming to take down his defenses and they are succeeding.

People I ship Red Son with: Mei and MK. Not as Chimerashipping. Just Dragonfruit or Spicynoodles. Poly ships are just not my thing honestly.

My non-romantic OTP for Red Son: Mei, MK, and Macaque. Mei and MK are obvious cuz Traffic Light Trio for the win! As for Macaque, this one might take some explaining. I feel like Macaque and Red Son would get along very well in most aspects, such as learning everything you can about your enemy and using that information to take them down and dealing with powers that can be frightening to yourself/others. (I also think this cuz of this one fic I read a while ago where Macaque was staying with Iron Fan and Red Son instead of being killed during the Journey. No I don't remember the title or the author 😩)

And one thing I wish would happen is seeing Red Son bonding with his parents. We know that at least Red Son and DBK like cooking and I want to see the Bull King and his son working together to make a family meal.

And those are my breakdowns on these two lego characters! Now if you excuse me, imma go invade a certain moot's ask box. >:3

In Sebastian's hands was a warm, yellow and black striped Hufflepuff scarf.  The one that she had worn throughout the fall.  The one that always managed to hide her teasing smiles and blushes.  It smelled of their shared apple tarts and a bit singed at the edges as if one of her Confringo spells was a bit too close for comfort.

It smelled like her. 

He looked up to catch her gaze.  She was leaning with all her weight on one foot with her arms crossed, slightly annoyed at the silly affair.

Sebastian recovered quickly.  He couldn't stop the grin from his face.  He felt like he was back to his old self, just like how he was when the two of them first met.  "Well, well, I was waiting for you to pay me back eventually.  Nice to know that Hufflepuffs have some manners."

She huffed, tired of these games and double-speak.  "You know, if you don't want it, you can always give it back."

"Now hold on,"  Sebastian cut her off, already wrapping it possessively around his neck in intricate woven pattern so tight so she couldn't even separate it from him if he tried.  "I never said I didn't appreciate the gift."

Summary: Ominis tries to be happy for Sebastian and their new friend. Really he's happy that his two favorite people have starting seeing each other.

...It's too bad that he wasn't included.

In which Sebastian and f!MC try repeatedly to ask Ominis out, too bad he's too stubborn to see it.

The three of them tumbled over each other into the broom closet.  Legs tripped on buckets as arms caught themselves on flimsy mops.  Ominis could feel someone's body pressed hard against his.  He flushed, entirely embarrassed to be caught in this situation.

Someone groaned in his ear.  He was glad for the darkness of the broom closet, so that no one could see the hair on his neck raise in attention.

"Well, that's one way of getting his attention."  Sebastian mused.

"Oh, stop it." she huffed, squirming on top of Ominis.  "You thought making out in front of him was a good plan.  Look where that landed us."  Her right sleeve was wet, dripping with…something mysterious.

Someone 's knee pressed against Ominis's ribs.  "Hmm, I don’t know."  There was mischief in Sebastian's tone.  "This would be the perfect time to play Seven Minutes in Bliss.  Who knows what a trio of teenagers could get themselves into."

Ominis had enough.  He was not going to be anywhere close to them when the other two inevitably starting to claw at each other's clothes, leaving him as the awkward bystander.

Summary: The Hero of Hogwarts gets way more drunk than usual at the Slytherin House. Like a decent, loving, chilavious man, Sebastian tries to get her needy, difficult ass back to her dorm.

She's lucky she's too sweet for him to be grumpy about it.

"Sebastian, are you able to escort her back home?"  Natty asked.  "I would do it myself but the Gryffindor tower is the complete opposite end of the castle and-"

"And no one can sneak around at night like Sebastian Sallow."  Sebastian finished for her.  "Of course, I'll make sure she gets tucked into bed."

Natty hovered, a bit nervous.  "She's ah, how you say, not very sober right now."  She hiccuped a bit before giggling madly. "Well, all I can say is, good luck!  She is quite the handful."

Before Sebastian could ask Natty what exactly she meant by that, a very loud presence announced herself. 

"Sebastian!"  The Hufflepuff in question shouted, throwing her hands in the air.  She pushed quite roughly through the crowd, heading straight for the Slytherin in question.  "Sebastian!  Good evening!"

"It is a good evening."  Sebastian agreed, wondering exactly how drunk she was.  "Now, I believe it is my duty to escort a certain someone to their bed."

She deflated like a Shrivelfig. "Oh…okay, see you later then."

It turns out she was very inebriated.  "It's you.  You're the someone I'm escorting to your bed."

"Oh!"  She smiled using all her teeth, then quickly hide them behind her hands giggling madly.  "Why didn't you just say so, silly?  This will be great!"  She shouted over the music.  "It'll just be like our very first night together!"

Several heads turned to look at the pair of them.  Sebastian could hear voices whispering behind them.  The back of his neck turned red.

My older Mixels stuff still gets some likes, but actually I've been going through and redoing all my character renders and making modifications to colors and builds. Basically so my characters can be built in real life. I'm making instructions too.

Why not start with my custom...

Series 10

Since I'm pretending to carry on from where the canon series left off. The only weird thing though... Is that there's one character in series 10 I didn't actually make. A small Lego creator cat poly bag. I just treat them like a Mixel, because when I saw it on the shelf it reminded me of my love for the Mixels series and kicked off the creative storm that would lead to hundreds of Custom characters lol.

The Fluffeez

No one knows where this tribe of animal-like Mixels came from. But they started popping up in the central park of Mixopolis. They're so cute and fluffy though, so no one really questioned it.

Meowzer: (the original cat poly bag) is the street smart leader. While not malicious,he knows how to use his looks and charms to get what he and his tribe need. He also often has to keep his tribe mates out of trouble, which leaves him tired enough for multiple cat naps.

Ruffle: Ruffle is the rough and tumble member of the tribe and the most playful. He seems to be full of boundless energy and is often begging others to play fetch or chase. He sometimes ends up running right into trouble by mistake, which Meowzer has to bail him out of.

Hoppz: Hoppz is shy and skittish. They're easily startled by sudden noises and big looking threats... But if you offer a carrot and are quiet and peaceful, then Hoppz will end up being your best friend.

The Mixies Cousins

Because the Mixies were my favorite tribe from series 7, I figured I'd make a expansion to them. While not a requirement, I tried sticking to the naming scheme of the original tribe.

Tunzy: Tunzy is a cheerful Mixel known to play catchy and bouncy tunes on his piano teeth that captivate others to the point they can't help but dance. This includes Tunzy himself... He's just a bit of a clumsy dancer.

Drumsy: if you ever need a strong beat to march to, then Drumsy is just the Mixel to call. He's always marching around and drumming a steady rhythm. Think you can keep in time to his beat?

Strumzy: Strumzy isn't really one to use his words. This Mite Mixel may not speak, but he can still pluck at your heart strings with his music. He's surprisingly quite expressive when he starts playing music.

The Brutherwoodz

The Brutherwoodz are a mysterious forest dwelling tribe who have just now realized a big city has been built nearby. Thankfully,their neck of the woods has been marked as a nature preservation.

Treelo: the oldest and wisest of the Brutherwoodz, and thus the leader. Though he is also a little lazy. The only reason he started growing apples on his branches was so he wouldn't have to move as often to get food.

Sproutz: this forest Mixel is a bit of a gremlin, gnawing on rocks and rooting for mushrooms in his free time, and really just getting messy the rest of the time. The only thing that really scares him is scissors or other sharp objects.

Brambell: Brambell is a cheeky prankster who likes to climb on trees... Before jumping down to spook unsuspecting people passing by. He finds the reactions priceless, but sometimes his vine fingers get really tangled and that can be pretty annoying.

Bonus: the Nixels get their own render! From left to right, these Nixels come with Ruffle, Tunzy, and Sproutz respectively.

i put my liked songs on shuffle and got halloween party by drumming bird. i think this reminds me of mattkey because of the line "the only thing that scares me now is the goodbyes, and i think about yours a lot", à la the s1 scene where mike visits matt (and himself lol) in matt's apartment? don't exactly have the most concrete reasoning but its true in my heart (and everything ever can be about mattkey /lh)

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they're your favorites.

i'm going to try and pick non-obvious characters for this lol. i contain multitudes and all that

johnny cade from the outsiders: his skittish vulnerability amidst the stereotypical "rough-and-tumble" attitudes of the other greasers was always incredibly relatable to me, + the fact that, despite his hesitations, still bit when he was cornered & needed a way out of the danger.

jojo from newsies!: okay technically this feels a little bit like cheating because he's really just a named ensemble role, but he canonically was raised by nuns and i think the potential of exploring his religious trauma whilst recognizing, for a long time, the church/religion was all he had (before the newsies) is incredibly intriguing + relatable lol

matt woe.begone: okay this one is definitely cheating and i broke my own rule but i've projected on this guy so much he's basically me lol and deserves a place on the list. as i mentioned earlier, the s1 apartment scene with mike basically ruined my life /pos; his actions are so far from being self-preserving while he still maintains a level of fight, and the two don't really make sense in tandem? overall throughout the podcast when we see him he wants to be in the middle of the trouble yet logistically isn't in any position to actually do so lol. i love him
