The Local Market

Instead of us walking through the front doors at the market, a whole bunch of us were forced to enter the market, riding on a conveyer belt, where all the garbage   including the rotten meat was disposed of.

When I got off, I complained of the stench, to the folks behind the customer service  and the cashier counters (who were the owners, the cashiers and who were also all older caucasian men.

One said, "Get used it girl, this is how it's got to be." I said, "No we don't have to be treated this way, we demand respect as women and as human beings!!"

He went to the back and got out his rifle. He said "Well maybe this will teach you to keep your mouth shut."

A middle aged caucasian woman screamed,  "Run he's got a gun."

I ran down the organic produce section.

Across the cold meat section.

Ran into a male employee restroom.

It smelled like a dirty mop and urine in there.

He was right behind me running as fast as he could with his rifle in hand.

I was able to lock the restroom door behind me. 

But there was a slot at the bottom of the door.

Sorta like a mail slot.

But I think it was more like an air vent.

I tried to make it as far inside the restroom as I could.

But he stuck his arms and hands, stretched them through the air vent, as if he were Plastic Man.

But before he could grab me, I screamed as loud as I could.

And then I woke up.

I quickly grabbed my phone from my makeshift night stand and checked if the numbers had changed.

They hadn't.

Just waiting it out.

(MY HAPPY FACE : ALHAMDULILLAH) . . Dalam hidup, bayak sekali sebenarnya momen-momen bahagia yang hinggap dalam hari-hati kita. Namun, sayangnya kita tidak sadar bahwa kita sering kali bahagia. Kegagalan sedikit langsung memenuhi ruang emosi kita dengan kesedihan. Hingga kita lupa bahwa terlalu banyak kebahagiaan yang kita lalui, terlewatkan begitu saja. . . Hari ini saya berterimakasih dengan kakak-kakak Guru Bumi yang telah mendokumentasikan ekspresi saya ketika mendongeng. Mostly, ekspresi yang tertangkap adalah ekspresi kebahagiaan. Di kenyataannya pun, I'm really happy this afternoon. . . Bertemu bocah-bocah pintar yang entah dikasih makan apa sama emaknya umur 3 tahun sudah begitu sangat curious, kritis, dan charming. Bocah-bocah yang membuat kegiatan mendongeng jadi sangat interaktif karena mereka kebanyakan tanyanya hahaha. . . Selalu bahagia melihat anak-anak yang tertawa, ingin tahu, dan bercanda. Mungkin itulah mengapa anak disebut "qurrota aini", penyejuk mata bagi orang disekitarnya. Thank you kids, for being me happy today :D . .
