âOh, youâll fallâ Thelma replied nonchalantly, as if that was somehow comforting âQuite embarrassingly, probably. And quite painfully at least a few times.â
âAh. Well. â Matthew cleared his throat uncomfortably, the mild sense of impending doom steadily building. âI suppose we best be going then?âÂ
Thelma smiled up at him, a darling sort of smile, the type that lit up half the room, so genuinely happy that Matthew decided whatever happened in the next hour - no matter how disastrous and or embarrassing - it would be worth it for that smile on his sisterâs face.

The Post TLH Children:
Zachary Carstairs:
Zachary is kind of living his best life.
Heâs got a great brother, great sister, plenty of adults who love him, some really weird friends, some normal friends, a world to live in that he loves, and an entire universe to experience.
He gets along pretty well with most people, obviously loves him family a bunch. In his opinion, his brother is the coolest (though heâd never say it out loud.)
Heâs got this deadpan sort of humor that not everyone catches onto, but genuinely means well, and when needed turns the sarcasm off for people he cares about. Heâs very perky and optimistic, if not somewhat distractable.Â
He thought about going into politics, decided that would be too boring. He fully intends to move to Paris, Chicago, Rome or something of the like, and do something INTERESTING. Maybe be a reporter, a designer, or better yet, a food critic.Â
Mismatched socks, purple curtains, watching the sun set on a balcony, standing in solidarity with a crowd, sweet air, great skin, falling in love with life, city apartments, satin shirts, grinning to yourself, coffee with plenty of cream, the taste of grapes, golden handkerchiefs, being proud of your family, smelling like fresh linen, warm hazelnut and eau de cologne.Â
Alexander Lightwood:
Â
Heâs honestly just a pretty nice guy.Â
Blue eyed boy, straight black hair, pretty casual. Very loyal, very protective. He also is a music guy. He prefers band, specializing in brass, specifically tuba. You think the tuba doesnt give him rizz? Wrong, it does. So does the trumpet, but it doesnât spark the same joy as the massive hunk of metal the size of a small child.Â
He can also sing, but doesnt pour his heart into it the way he does for instrument.Â
He really, genuinely, adores Peter, swearing to be his friend when he met him as a tiny little baby. He probably didnât expect to become parabatai, but pretty quickly realized that he got along with Peter better than he got along with anyone else, and enjoys his company like no other. All deeper meanings aside, they just really mesh well.Â
Alexander doesnât have the same obsessiveness Peter does, but heâll come over to the Fairchild house for hours nonetheless. Heâs content to sit in the room and read, draw, study, ect ect while Peter plays the same song thirty eight times.Â
He starts a marching band. A street band, and a pretty damn good one. Peter, much as he isnt a band kid, helps him as much as he can.Â
He runs around London a lot, usually with Peter. Botanical gardens, old graveyards, ancient churches, quaint coffee shops, patches of woods or flowers, he wants to poke around them.Â
Heâs really big on the natural, forest academia type of vibe.
Heâs also got his own anxieties, and some survivorsâ guilt.
He really wants to protect everyone. He never knew Christopher, but he sees how much everyone misses him and is terrified heâs gonna lose someone he loves. When he was little he started having dreams of Peter dying, and theyâve continued for years. Even though Peters is pretty much fine on his own, heâs deathly afraid Peters is gonna get bored of him, or heâs gonna go and get killed.
Heâs still got a scar on his chest from Tatiana; and while itâs never caused him a problem, at times it feels like he survived when he shouldnât have.Â
Everyone older than him went through all this trauma but he just barely slipped past.  What did he do that made him any better? Why did he deserve better? Why did he survive when his bother didnât? Would it have been better if he died? If he had died, would they miss him as much?
Also heâs got a potty mouth. Considering how laid back and friendly he is, itâs a little jarring, but he walks into the room with his friends and swears like a sailor on a hot day.
Promises between friends, steel swords, creeks in the forest, misting rain running off of building, overgrown indoor plants, blueberry skins in your teeth, the scent of wool, protect those you love, falling asleep on your best friends shoulder, taking the stairs, swimming in lakes, walking around when the world is asleep, sharing your soul with one person, missing something you can't remember, running when you could walk, parades, the cacophony of a band, spit on your shoes, oil stains on your jeans, the perfect weight of a broadsword, stone sharpening a blade, warm milk, the scent of the forest, coffee, and wood, hundreds of voices mingling together in public until they are one with the world as the wind.
Peter Fairchild:
He was the last of the triplets to be born, and a surprise to end all surprises. With all the chaos Belials attack on London , Charlotte prenatal visits were mostly just âyep, no oneâs dead in thereâ! So in a twist of fate that could only happen to the London Shadowhunters, bam, screaming baby boy.Â
Peter is super easy going, and joined at the hip with Alexander Lightwood. Theyâve been besties literally since Peter was born. They bounce off each other well, and have spent multiple summers laying in the woods, swimming in lakes, and agonizing over music. Theyâll end up teaching together in a music school eventually.Â
Building on that, the kid is a musical masterpiece. Probably because music is all he does.
Adding on that memory rune, heâs Mozart on steroids. His big three are singing, piano and composing.
His voice is amazing, three octave range, most comfortable in as a low bass. Genuine talent, genuine passion.Â
Piano was his first love, and he started it with Alexander.Â
His goal is composing, which he will eventually get to, and absolutely kick ass at.
All three of the triplets are the spitting image of their dad, itâs basically mini Henry 1# 2# and 3#. They inherited the red hair, freckles, eyes, and autism.. Peter is friendly, casual, so-so social skills, but he does try his best.
Heâs got plenty of curls himself, but he doesnât like to mess with his hair, so he just goes with hats. Particularly herringbone caps, which he wears regardless of being inside or outside.
Also, he really doesnât like getting his clothes wet. He likes to swim, doesnât mind bathing, ect, but he hates the feeling of wet cloth on his skin.
Tweed jackets, flocks of songbirds going up, summer night air, leather shoelaces, piles and piles of sheet music, blinding heat of stage lamps, clapping of a crowd you can not see, the familiarity of piano keys, chopin and mozart, carnations, lapel pins, august days with your best friend, conductors baton slipped up your sleeve, the scent of rosin, valve oil, and pen ink under the smell of almond cologne.
Thelma Fairchild:
Sheâs trying, bless her.
She is dripping with that special brand of autism. She doesnât realize when people are being mean to her, and doesnât know how to tell them to leave her alone. Sheâs just as weird and exuberant as Henry, so sheâs a prime target for the asshats of the shadowhunter world. Sheâs honestly very friendly, but just as lonely.Â
Her poison of choice is dance.
When she was something like five, her mother took her to see a production of the Alice in Wonderland ballet and she fell in love. Sheâs tall for a ballerina, but the height standard for shadow hunter ballerinas is way higher than for mundane ones. The idea is seeing someone whose six foot tall dance en pointe is much more impressive than it is for someone a foot shorter do the same.Â
Thelma, weird as she may be, is a genuinely brilliant dancer. Sheâs downright ethereal, totally willing to work at it 24/7 at it, great musicality, excellent actor, and an amazing storyteller. Sheâs a student at a ballet academy in Idris- arguably the best school in the world, and certainly one of the most challenging.Â
She doesnât love staying one her own, so she usually stays at the family residence in Idris as opposed to in the dorms at her academy. Â
She loves the color yellow, loves her family, is definitely a lesbian and is hopelessly enthralled with life.
Sunlight streaming over wood floors, snow on the steps of massive stone libraries, books and candles, beating in pointe shoes, bobby pins in every drawer, dancing on your own, golden hour, freckles on your arms, standing on a balcony during a thunderstorm, sun faded furniture, poetry, reciting shakespeare to yourself, watching your shadow move, yards and yards of fabric, nooks and crannies, hidden corners, being loved by your family, âYouâre just like your fatherâ, blisters on your ankles, bruises on your knees, bones and angles, alone in a crowd, sweet candies, twirling in flowery courtyards, costumes and dresses, yellow everything, carefully polished jewelry, secrets whispered in candlelight, falling asleep on the floor, the satiny scent of a ballet studio over the scent of beeswax, and something warm and orangey, like wassail or mulled wine, loving the world despite everything it throws at you.Â
Marigold Fairchild:
Mary, Goldie, Mary-goldie, whatever you call her, Marigold is the oldest of the triplets.Â
Her thing is carving. Particularly, marble carving.
Sheâs as obsessive as everyone else in her family and is really good at what she does. Probably because thatâs all she does. She paints her statues, the same way ancient Romans did, though much updated.Â
She uses warlock pigments, fae powders, paints from every corner of the universe, and every piece of art is amazingly realistic. A fully finished statue is identical to an actual person.Â
Her carving studio is a particularly large garden shed, renovated. Originally, it was supposed to be for all the triplets to play in but she took it over. Good luck getting it back.
She likes blue. A lot. When she isnât carving, she looks for color. She loves the ocean, and likes to wander around the coast, the more wild the better. Scotland, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, ect. Her favorite by far is Ireland. The only thing she may like as much as carving or preparing to carve, is probably staring at the Irish coast. The color, the feeling you get, the greenness of it all, what she would give to live under those waves, stand in the surf during a storm, see that color, experience it, live in it. Carving is the closest she gets to that type of living though, you know? Itâs creating a person, freeing a form from its stone prison. Once you finish a carving youâre as familiar with that carving as you could be with any person in the world.
As an artist, she smokes a hookah recreationally. Sheâs the only one of the triplets to smoke, and none of them drink.
Sheâs got a dog, an English setter, named Mary Shelly, Shelly for short. They figured since Matthew named a dog after an author they might as well keep the theme going (It was Matthewâs idea).
Shelly was her sixth birthday gift, for her first rune. Peter got a nice piano (and the old one moved to his room) , Thelma got one of the spare rooms redone to work as a ballet studio.Â
She takes very careful care of her curls. All the triplets have lovely hair, Marigold just uses product, lets it grow, covers it at night, ect. Itâs waist length, 3a, excellent volume, and lowkey intimidating.Â
Cold rain, paint on your forearms, pockets full of things, oversized clothes, nicks on your fingers, heather on the coast, bare feet covered in grass stains, sleet in the morning, tons of cardamom tea, dyed fingertips, sketchbooks, drawing on yourself, callused fingers, sore arms, marble dust sticking on your hair, watching the stars with your one true love, shopping the shadow market searching for new pigments, bitten lips, dog hair stuck on your pants, and the scent of sea salt and stone with an undertone of wildness.

Uh WHERE do I even start???? I love them I love them I love them I love them.Â
The parallels between Henry and Mortmain??? Interesting, untapped, should be talked about. The đsilentđcharacterđarcđ from hating himself to not??? Thatâs good autism rep. Thatâs PERFECT autism rep. On the angsty side should we talk about all the shit he blames himself for? Letâs go back to him accidentally telling Mortmain how a Pyxis works? The fact that heâs really toeing the line between breaking the law and not? The whole clave being awful to him and him just not caring???? Amazing. His friendship with Magnus??? Theyâre like besties???? Cassie can we talk about that??? Because I love them, I love them, I love them. I want to see so much more from before TID. And if Cassie wonât write it then I will â
I claimed the Fairchild twins. Theyâre triplets and I love them. Itâs so much fun.Â
Everyoneâs ready for twins, everyoneâs nervous enough and then boom triplets. Matthew just about fainted. Everyone just about fainted.Â
The irony of wanting girls for so long HAVING the girls and then a random ass boy to finish it off.
Their middle names are Marigold (middle name) Jessamine,Thelma Charlotte, and Peter Lewis. Take the âCharlotte named her kid after herself to the next levelâ. Iâd say itâs fair considering the triplets could not look more different than their mother. They got to tell Jessamine they named their little girl after her. She pretended to be unbothered but she was so touched. After all she did, after all she put them through, they still love her so much they named their baby girl, the baby theyâve wanted for so long, this beautiful, precious baby is named after her. They still see so much good in her they connect their daughter to her forever. Jessie had to take a moment.
Also all Henry and Charlottes boys end up homosexual. Itâs just the vibe. The fruitiness is really.Â
They look so much like their father. Thereâs no âooo the consul must have cheatedâ rumors when you look at them. It would make more sense to whisper that Henry cloned them in a lab. Poor Charlotte had five kids and NONE of them look like her.  Theyâre all taller than her at like. Ten.Â
Theyâre so exhuberant. So passionate. So weird. Every time Matthew tryâs to take them somewhere they take like eight years off his life. âHey lemme just climb onto the side of this bridge, no no no, this is safe, I gotta see that rock, yes Iâll come back aFTER-â.  The shadowhunter world was so not ready for them.
Really I could go on. There is no question I can not answer about any of these guys I love them so much <3<3<3

Do you think any of the next Gen kids have mental health disorders? (Alex, The triplets, etc?) Given the time I imagine undiagnosed but y'know
Well, for one thing, the triplets are autistic, although thatâs more neurological. Theyâre all different flavors of autism sure, but they all have a lot of the really classic ASD signs, even from early childhood.Â
They all handle it a different way, and have varying strengths, weaknesses, sensory issues, social skills, and symptoms, but Henry and Charlotte have no problem handling it, probably because they got the âtism directly from their father LOL.
Alexander has definitely got a bit of OCD. He isnât outwardly anxious, but he deals with this ever present fear that awful things are going to happen to everyone he loves, and the actual bad things that have happened really don't help that fear.
He sometimes feels like he was the one who should have died, since he was so young and people would âmiss him less.â  He also feels bad he doesn't remember his brother, because he really doesn't. Alex was only three when Christopher died, and Anna is really the only sibling he has ever known.Â
His brain gets really stuck on the idea that Peter is going to die, itâs going to be all his fault, and people wonât remember his best friend, and heâll be all alone. Then what will he do??? How would he honor his friend, how would he fill Peterâs brilliant shoes, how would he live with himself? He used to worry that Peter would get bored of him and leave, but he actually calmed that fear down pretty quickly. He really does trust Peter, who is always happy to slowly break down his worries and help soothe them.Â
They spend plenty of time sitting in quiet rooms at night, going through everything Alexander is afraid of, everything he knows isnât true, but he just needs to get out.Â
Heâs got a couple of the classic OCD traits to, opening and closing his door four times before leaving it shut, clicking lights on and off, but itâs not necessarily horrifically intrinsic.Â
Heâs got it pretty well under control in the modern day though. He knows how loved he is, does some meditating, and stays out of situations he knows will stress him out.
#The triplets are just⌠letâs say special#Special in the same way their father is â¨specialâ¨#So Alex fits right in#Tid#tlh#tsc#alexander lightwood#Thanks for the ask#Asks#peter fairchild#thelma fairchild#marigold fairchild

She loves the color yellow, loves her family, and is hopelessly enthralled with life.
Sunlight streaming over wood floors, books and candles, beating in pointe shoes, bobby pins in every drawer, dancing on your own, golden hour, freckles on your arms, sun faded furniture, poetry, reciting Shakespeare to yourself, watching your shadow move, yards and yards of fabric, nooks and crannies, hidden corners, being loved by your family, âYouâre just like your fatherâ, blisters on your ankles, bruises on your knees, bones and angles, alone in a crowd, sweet candies, twirling in courtyards, costumes and dresses, yellow everything, carefully polished jewelry, secrets whispered in candlelight, falling asleep on the floor, the satiny scent of a ballet studio over the scent of beeswax, and something warm and orangey, like wassail or mulled wine, loving the world despite everything it throws at you.Â

Sunlight streaming over polished wood floors, huge libraries, books and candles, beating in pointe shoes, bobby pins in every drawer, dancing on your own, golden hour, freckles on your arms, standing on a balcony during a thunderstorm, sun faded furniture, poetry, reciting shakespeare to yourself, watching your shadow move, yards and yards of fabric, nooks and crannies, hidden corners, being loved by your family, âYouâre just like your fatherâ, blisters on your ankles, bruises on your knees, bones and angles, alone in a crowd, sweet candies, twirling in flowery courtyards, costumes and dresses, yellow everything, carefully polished jewelry, secrets whispered in candlelight, falling asleep on the floor, the satiny scent of a ballet studio over the scent of beeswax, and something warm and orangey, like wassail or mulled wine, loving the world despite everything it throws at you.Â

Sophideon Angsty Rough Draft WIP Snippet
Sophie has a little alone time with her newest niece. It brings up some difficult feelings.
Barbra had been a stern, somewhat unimpressed, little baby, with eyes the color of black tea, and only a little fuzz of dark curls on her head. The little girl in sophie's armâs was smaller, with busy, curious, hazel eyes andÂ
But when the baby shifted, grunting a little in her sleep, then resettled, leaning into Sophieâs chest, the action was so achingly familiar, the sweet scent of a newborn babe so ingrained in her mind, the content, protected little life happy in her arms; she could feel her heart scream.Â
She wished she could have held Barbara that way again, protect her from the world, shield her from what a shadowhunter could not be shielded from. But she could not. Barbara had grown up. She had grown up into a brilliant, beautiful, kind young woman, so very loved, and so very loving. And she had died.Â
All in a moment, everything tangible about her was gone, yanked from the world. Sophieâs daughter, her smile, the sparkle in her eyes, her life and her future, disappearing, alive only in memory.Â
Would this child also be swept away? Would the light that twinkled in her eyes to be snuffed out? One day, would her voice as well cease to ring out, echoing dully in the halls of everyone's mind instead of the wide rooms of the institute? Would she join the lineup of the things they had lost, become a story you feverishly tell the younger children in the family, begging those who had never known her to remember. Remember their sparkle, their smile, remember their love. Leaving their family to beg; Please, remember her like I do.
By the angel, Sophie hoped not.

i should warn everyone ahead of time that if Cassie starts giving the newer Fairchild kids names and personalities, i will be totally disregarding them
#not even kidding haha#look we all know she added them to save her family tree#and frankly i love the characters ive created for that slot#and as much as i do love cassie (dont come at me stans)#but its pretty clear that she doesnt care very much about a lot of her characters#the ones she does care for are good but i'm very concerned she would fill the slot with characters only for progression of other characters#tlh#tsc#tid#thelma fairchild#marigold fairchild#peter fairchild

since i saw your reblog of my reblog, what kind of earrings do you think henry would wear, if he wore them?
Mini hoop earrings! You know, something like these:
Probably in more neutral colors, think gold, brown, silver and black, but heâd be open to brighter or bejeweled pieces. Heâs the type to get them pierced years ago and never really mention it. Matthew will bring up ear piercing when his sisters are about the age to get theirs done and heâs all âmaybe Iâll get mine pierced to be a supportive brotherâ and Henry hits him with âoh, you mean like these?â And Matthew has a little crisis
#Matthew: Why didnât you take me with you???#Henry: oh you werenât born yet#Matthew: âŚWhen exactly did you get them pierced?#Henry: I dunno I was 24 or so? Ask Magnus we went together.#Matthew:#I think about this a lot actually. I even made a meme#I love tiny hoops. Tiny hoops my beloved. I own like thirteen pairs#He would forget to wear them for a decade or so#Youâd think theyâd heal closed but nope#Heâd wear them again later on account of his daughter also loving mini hoops#Thelma and her small jewlery store worth of mini hoops<3#Thanks for the ask!#tid#tsc#tlh#Henry Fairchild#Henry branwell
