Heya, this is thekrityanwarrior, my blog is gone but I was checking to see what was left. I saw your post about the giveaway and during that time our house flooded and a lot of my physical belongings were destroyed. We had to live in a hotel for a month and yeah. I must not have seen your private messages at that time, but I'm really sorry I let you down, I wanted to do something nice for people but my life got ruined within about 2 hours. Again, I'm sorry.

I only watched the first season of Attack on Titan when it first came out. When did it begin showing anti-semitism prominently? Tbh the first season's story was really interesting, but idk why the full story would go down the road it did.

Chapter 85, when Eren finally gets into his father’s basement. That’s when the ‘plot twist’ is revealed–aka the story behind the entire existence of the Titans, aka where Iseyama’s true colors REALLY begin to shine through. I’m not sure when that was published or when that translated into the anime–I’m guessing second or third season, probably third–but there’s also things as far back as a decade ago hinting at Iseyama’s attitude towards the ‘other’. 

For example, a blog post from 2010 reveals that he based the character of ‘Dot Pixis’ off of the real-life historical figure General Akiyama Yoshifuru. Right down to appearance, even.

Akiyama is considered a hero in Japan, and Iseyama considers him a respectable and admirable figure. 

He was involved in the First Sino-Japanese War, a war that was primarily over influence in Korea. If you don’t know about the history between Japan and Korea, you might think that’s no big deal. But Japan has a long history with the Korean people–you can read about it here, written by an actual Korean person who would obviously be much more familiar with this than I am.

Really, my main area here is the antisemitism, and that’s fairly prevalent. (For those unsure what I’m talking about, here’s my post on the matter.)

I don’t blame people who haven’t gotten far enough into Attack on Titan to know about this. I also don’t blame people who are unfamiliar with the imperialist undertones. I get it; AoT is a pretty fancy show that seems to have some decent writing. I hear the music’s pretty popular, and I’ll admit that the plot’s an interesting one, at least at first. But the secret Eren’s father keeps in his basement isn’t just a secret about the Titans. It’s a secret about Iseyama, and how he really feels about people like me, or really, anyone who fits into that category of ‘other’. He doesn’t even try to hide it.

Honestly, I’m really glad you asked about this. As you can probably tell, it’s kind of a big deal to me. And like I said, I don’t think you’re in the wrong for liking the story as far as you saw it; from what I’m aware the first season doesn’t really have any of that, at least not overtly. 

I don’t know why it went down that road either. Well, I suppose I do; the fact of the matter is that art tells you a lot about the artist, and Iseyama’s beliefs definitely bled through into his work a lot. I wish I could just ignore it, say things like ‘you do you’ and ‘like what you like’, but when it’s something like this, I just can’t. It’s too frightening to overlook, you know?

Sorry for the really long answer; I probably said more than you were looking for. Like I said, this is a really personal subject for me. But I’m glad to talk about it and I’m glad that there are people who don’t just brush off these things. So, thank you. Honest questions like this one restore a little of my faith in humanity.

yeah it’s introduced in a really convoluted and obtuse fashion so if you’re not keeping 100% on top of mementos requests, as most people don’t their first playthrough, you’re probably not going notice it until it’s too late

1.What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

Sooooo I am true neutral when it comes to shipping. I don’t actively invest in any ship whatsoever except for maybe 2. I’m not even that invested in Fluri. I just don’t care that much about shipping (maybe it’s part of being aro and would rather just see brotps) in general… That said I have never understood this ship in the D.Gray-Man Fandom:

Lavi Bookman x  Tykii Mik. I have never understood this. The only reason I think it is exists is the same reason any yaoi pairing for that series exists… immature fangirls don’t realize that not shipping is an option in fics. Yullen, Yavi, and Laven all make sense in that nebulous framing of the ‘I must ship phase’ but even then… I don’t get this ship. I don’t even think these characters would get along that well. I just think young idiot girl were worried the only other option was put him a relationship with Lenalee… (the true otp Komui x Blue Mountain coffee)

Also… almost any ship I’ve read in a fic for Blue Exorcist (it’s about the same as what I wrote above)… Minus RinxYukio cause we all know why that’s a thing… Personally I ship it in the Yukio is a lab accident away from a super villain sense (btws I need to get caught up on the manga last I checked he was sort of fine if that’s changed keep that to yourself)

And for tales Alvin and Elize shipping is just weird to me. Because Elize is not framed as a young adult in any way and yeah she and Alvin have moments together but it’s a wisdom of the child thing.

Asch and Luke… I get physical appeal… But no.

2.Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*

Um, mostly BROTP fluri. I have absolutely nothing against it. I just think aro Yuri is cool and I personally love the idea of people just being that good of friends without this idea that they’re automatically in love. (I also have a really long meta logic reason that basically boils down to while I don’t think they’re a bad couple at all and they’re wonderful together I just think that they’re either over any infatuation by the start of the game or they’ll have broken up on a healthy and calm way in their 30s.)

I more BROTP Eizen and Rokurou but I will ship it

Same logic could be applied to a lot of the best friend scenarios… Nothing against the ships I just like friendship. Like I have nothing against any of these ships and I will ship them if somebody makes me think about it but I mostly don’t care enough for the effort shipping takes.

Lizard People is a heavily antisemitic conspiracy theory from what I understand - specifically bc it ties into the whole ‘jewish people run the world’ gamut and bc it dehumanizes jewish folks as well?

Have you gone to the doctors office physically? You could go there and not leave until they get you the papers you need

I could, but for all the good it would do me, I’d just spend a day somewhere I didn’t want to be. HR has to get it from the doctor, because if I give it to them, there’s still some liability BS under company terms or w/e that I could have forged it. So if I’m not actually ready and get hurt worse, company is liable again.
