Honestly I think half the 616 Steve/Tony Discord developed an emotional attachment to this brain in a jar when we all read Captain America Corps. Because, first off, universes where Tony's life is personally ruined solely because he doesn't meet Steve are the most angsty universes in the multiverse anyway, and also canonically Sad Brain Jar Tony is suicidally depressed, so he's pretty badly off.

He begs everyone he sees to please just kill him already. He asks Superia, which is clearly a request he's made before, from the way he says it:

And then, when the heroes come to take Superia down, he begs Hank to kill him:

We don't actually find out what happens after the good guys win -- it's kind of implied that their universe ceases to exist, but I wasn't about to let that stop me.

So I wanted to see if there was any way I could make poor Sad Brain Jar Tony happy again (or at least on the way to being happy), and I've been kind of thinking about this ever since I read Cap Corps. (Either that or a story where 616 Steve remembers the events of this series, which the end of it hints he might be starting to, and then has to deal with the sheer WTF of knowing that this universe exists, which is happening at a point in time (Heroic Age) when he's not on very good terms with 616 Tony.)

When Veryvincible said I could write a Cap Corps story for her art (I saw it in RBB claims and I was like "oooh, Cap Corps") we figured that it might be cool if I gave him a brand-new body and also a Steve, since the lack of both of those seemed to be two of the major problems in his life.

So, yeah. I was just... hoping everyone would enjoy that. I liked writing it, anyway.

I'm SO sorry to be a weird nerd but re: the euphonium gif it won't rust bc it's silver plated brass, not iron, and while the bubbles may or may not be good for it (dish soap is fine but idk about bubble bath), it actually IS common practice in drum and bugle corps to take one's horn into the shower to clean it (albeit just with water and VERY carefully bc you don't want the felt bits on the valves getting wet). Sorry if this isn't new information sjehwbshgfbdd

Gizka i wanna read ur gendrya fic bc 1) you're excellent 2) arya was my favorite GoT character for the five minutes i tried to be into it. My problem is that I can't sit thru the other 80% of GoT/asoiaf just for that good arya content. How much of canon do I need to consume to understand fic?

tbh not much -- most of my stuff is just from s8 (which LOL i started after not having watched in like 10 years, although i did catch up)! My Main Fic is an AU from 8x5, so if you’re feeling it, 8x1-8x5 would probably be fine. Here is my ultra cool summary of what to know for s8:

-The Night King is the main zombie of an army of zombies that’s out to fuck up humanity as we know it. their first pit stop is Winterfell, where The Whole Gang (-cersei because she was a dick and didn’t want to help) is gathering for a Dramatic Last Stand

-The only thing that kills the zombies is fire, valyrian steel, and dragon glass. Gendry is like. the only dude who knows how to make weapons out of dragon glass, so he’s on his way to Winterfell for the first time to help after helping Jon with some other Zombie Shit. him and arya haven’t seen each other since they were kids  

-Bran Stark is no longer Bran Stark because he’s been possessed by a tripped-out forest god that knows All of History. he’s now called the 3 eyed raven

-Jon’s been named the King of the North and has left the Night’s Watch

-Dany made it to Westeros with her armies and banged Jon on a boat. tyrion and varys are her advisors now and tyrion does a terrible job (cha cha with my bias in there). one of her dragons was killed by the Night King, so he’s got a ZOMBIE DRAGON. she agreed to help winterfell/Jon out if he’d bend the knee and accept her as the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms

-which Sansa is NOT HAPPY ABOUT because she wants an Independent North and thinks Jon’s thinking with his dick. she’s the Political Sibling now. Theon Greyjoy and her Went Through Some Fucking Traumatic Shit together but long story short Theon helped rescue her and is now back on Team Stark and a very sad boi

-Jaime has spent the last 2-3 seasons being a shitty thot but now he is on his way to be a thot for the forces of good

-Arya’s been training for the last (uh....5?) years to be an ultra cool Assassin

-Sandor has murder-adopted Arya after their shared Murder Roadtrip, this remains true even though the last time she saw him she left him to die because brienne FUCKING WRECKED HIM

I also recommend watching 5.8: Hardhome, not because you need to but because it was a really cool battle :D

& as an arya fan you gotta watch 8x3 even if you decide not to watch the rest. you gotta. it’s essential.

hi we have never spoken but i NEEDED to share w you the concept of a dragon age/stony fusion because the idea of incredibly talented and exiled Tevinter mage Tony + tired and serious and Doing His Best leader of the inquisition's fighting forces Steve has been HAUNTING me and you're the only person i know who's into both stony and cullrian

OMG thank you for sharing your idea, I love it!! I can definitely see the shared traits of tony/dorian and steve/cullen!

Imagine smol Steve trying to become a Templar and failing at it because of his weak immune system and numerous diseases, so he becomes a scribe or whatever at Kinloch Hold until it gets raided by demons who use a dark ritual to try and possess him, and either that turns into into big!Steve, or a spirit healer somehow gets rid of his conditions. He still gets PTSD from the whole event, losing everyone he cares for and also himself in a way, and is sent to Kirkwall, but he would starts going rogue a lot sooner than Cullen when his best friend Bucky/Samson gets kicked out for showing kindness to a mage. He doesn’t like bullies, after all, and Meredith is one manipulative bully with glowing blue candies. He helps Hawke as much he can until Kirkwall’s showdown. 

He becomes the Knight-Commander and deals with the situation like a boss, guilty and still plagued by PTSD. That’s when Natasha/Cassandra comes to recruit him for the Inquisiton, and he thinks it’s the right™ thing to do. 

As for Tony, well, he’s got his daddy issues too, so it’d be easy to parallel both of their life experiences, even though I hope Howard never kidnapped his son to attempt a blood ritual on him. Anyway, cue Tony arriving to Haven with striking facial hair and lots of self-confidence, which truly is what makes Steve wary of him at first. He’s learnt in the past than people full of themselves are usually bad people, but he realizes that Tony’s humor and narcissism are to protect himself, just like him always staying professional is a way to try and not befriend anyone is, so he doesn’t lose another friend. But then Tony’s is a tenace witty mage who knows more than spells and good wine.

U probably hear this constantly but I'm legit obsessed w your early canon/70s and 80s era 616 fics like OBSESSED. The way Steve and Tony are always just such good friends above all else and they have each other's backs and are each other's biggest fan there's quite literally nothing better. I remember reading the artist steve one you posted most recently and being like "wow what a sweet and wholesome friendship! What kind and loving sadomasochism!" Like the level of emotional investment I'm guaranteed to have even in the silliest or most pornographic of circumstances is off the wall. I can't tell you how many times I've reread your fic, nobody does it like you

I feel like when I started writing Steve/Tony there weren't a whole lot of early canon fics other than Classicverse and maybe a few identity porn stories; I think Mucca had a sex pollen story set sometime in the 70s, but other than that the majority of 616 Steve/Tony fic was about the runs that were going on at the time people were writing fic, so there wasn't a whole lot of volume 1 anything. I like to think I have contributed to that a little, and I think it's a lot of fun to just pick a random v1 issue and set a story around that. Because you probably wouldn't ever have guessed that, say, there was an IM issue where Tony cosplays as Iron Man at SDCC. But there is!

I'd wanted to write a fic where Steve was an artist for a while because it's one of my favorite eras of v1 and I know fandom has a lot of fun writing about Steve's artistic skills but I felt like there wasn't really a lot of fic about the period of time that Steve was an actual working commercial artist in the comics and that I wanted to make there be some. It's also an interesting time for Tony because it's identity reveal time, and it's after Demon and almost up to the second drinking arc, and "Tony trying to stay sober" is a theme that I think also has a lot of potential. It's the last time that Steve and Tony were on the main team together until v3. So there's a lot going on there to work with in a story.

And then I figured I'd make Steve draw kinky porn, because why not. I like to take completely unbelievable premises ("the ATM eats Steve's paycheck so Steve becomes a pornographer") and play them completely seriously. The plots are silly but the feelings are real! Plus, I enjoy writing really caring kink.

I'm not currently writing v1, alas; my current WIP is not 616 at all, and then after that the v1 that I will be writing is... actually not Steve/Tony... but I do have plenty of early canon ideas rattling around my brain and at least a couple of them are fairly long so hopefully someday the rest of the world will be able to experience them too.

Dude yes it’s R and Guillermo but it’s also fair to warn people about specific shit that happens? I know “cute fishy romance” is a dumb expectation but like that’s honest the way Tumblr has been presenting it and if that’s your only exposure to its advertising or you’ve never seen a Guillermo movie before it’s not unfair to be thrown by some of the more viscerally upsetting aspects of his filmmaking

No, it’s not, but it’s also no one’s fault that you let one social media site be your lens for a movie even though you have the entire internet at your fingertips. Honestly people are just L A Z Y . THey’re LAZY!!!! If they have sensitivities they can look shit up but they don’t, they just let bad shit happen to them so they can be the victim because it’s too much energy to be proactive about the content they consume. ANyway people need to get outside more so they don’t think tumblr monster fandoms are like, a credible frame of reference for a professional cinematic production.
