I was complaining/making fun of young teenagers who make these edits of kpop idols and at some point my friend was like oh but we weren’t that much better
Ohh no hold up I was very much better
There are few things I’m prideful about but this I am, I was way to fucking aroace for that even if I didn’t know it then
#there’s a lot of different nuances in this as well#like I’m also more annoyed by young bts fans bc when they got popular in the west (and among younger American girls)#their quality in music dropped imo#not necessarily bc of the teenagers but bc of the industry and it’s expectations and what it would take them to be mainstream#compared to their old stuff#so my friend and I make fun of young fans bc it’s a manifestation of that but I would never say that to someone who actually did it#so that’s one part of it#also my childhood and teenage years have been very different than some others on some aspects#and getting crushes (on celebrities or not) has never been a thing for me#and that’s a big part of my identity#and my identity is smt that I meet /will meet resistance agains by society#so every fucking win I can get out of it I treasure#I was cringe and a huge nerd regarding no other stuff#tumble let me edit plz and delete the no in there#but never boybands#also I was on a roll so my rant was just going at it#me#there was a lot of stuff in that interaction#it was overall funny but I also realized there’s some analyzing in it#aroace#queer#aromantic#asexual

while merch is cool in general, i hope sleep token doesn't overdo it. i know the prepare/obtain mails are somewhat of a meme by now, but it can go into the "sellout" direction pretty quickly, if they're not careful. i obviously want them to be able to live off of their music, but i still think it's smarter to make fewer merch drops to not oversaturate people. i think sleep token is very much a quality over quantity project, and i'd like if the merch reflected that too. i don't mind if there are longer periods where we don't hear from them because i want them to focus on their art. a cryptic "prepare" hits so much more when it's about the music and not the 50th merch drop imo.
#no hate to our boys but it's a slippery slope tbh#the graphic novel is cool tho but do we really need like 50 t-shirts#sleep token

i hope you dont mind a question/me ranting bc i desperately need to keep my mess of a mind busyyyyyyyy
what do you think hsr boys' music tastes are (specifically Dan Heng since we all know how i am for that man)? he'd probably listen to the more romantic side of classical music, or just super soft music in general imo
<3
Ooooh I love this question! I included pretty much all of the HSR men.
For Dan Heng, I immediately thought of Lo-Fi music. He likes to have some background noise while working but nothing that would disturbs his thoughts. So Lo-Fi music is the perfect fit for that. The dreamlike and calm sounds are the perfect atmospheric sounds for concentrated work.
I can see Jing Yuan being an Alternative Rock guy. It's music that keeps him awake when he needs it and the songs are just so catchy. I have this picture in my head of him just making breakfast (topless ofc) and singing My Chemical Romance or Fall Out Boy while scrambling eggs.
Blade listens to Metalcore. And he does so with the most straight face ever. Just some quality screams paired with some good vocals definitely get his blood pumping and he can pour his bottled-up emotions fully into the music.
Luka is also a Metalcore/Metal guy. He just seems tough and like someone who loves training. Nothing gives you quite as much of an energy kick like some good heavy guitar riffs and vocals.
Welt without a doubt listens to J/K-Pop. Now, hear me out here! You probably think I'm insane, because you look at him and think "classic". But this man was an animator who has created anime and likes everything surrounding the anime/manga culture. Definitely a J/K-Pop man.
Gepard likes Pop music. Just whatever just comes on the radio that you can casually jam to and gets stuck in your head. He'd find himself humming or quietly singing the songs he likes most every now and then when he's spacing out (incredibly embarrassing to him if anyone hears him). I think he's secretly a Swiftie.
I think Sampo would listen to EDM. Just something energetic with a melodic hook and not too many lyrics that you can groove to. The drops are exhilarating and he is someone who loves the thrill - this applies to his taste in music as well.
Luocha... now he's one I cannot really tell. I think he kind of listens to a bit of everything. Whatever is on he listens to. A mysterious man with a mysterious taste in music.

You know what I love so much about BTS's music is when you've not listened to a song or album for a while and when you do not only are you reminded of how good it is, but also sometimes songs you already like and have heard countless times before you suddenly latch onto unexpectedly. It happens to me often with their music, the latest song for me being Let me know. It just got it's claws into me on my Dark and Wild revisit and I've had it on repeatedly the past few days. I don't know what it is about them or their music that manages to just keep grabbing at you the way it does, maybe it's because their discography is so large and varied, but whatever it is I'm very grateful.
***
That’s the thing about excellent quality: it’s timeless. It doesn’t matter how old their songs are, how much you replay them, or whatever. When you listen to BTS’s music, you know it’s good because it feels incredible.
Your experience with Let Me Know is one I relate to so hard. That song was released in 2014 you know. BTS were really dropping bangers right out the gate. Like, it’s no surprise they blew up the way they did because they just had the best music point blank period.
They still do.
The songs I’ve revisited recently that made me feel similarly to you are:
- Mikrokosmos: Not a bad song at all, but one I usually skip and don’t add to my playlists because it’s not exactly my taste and it often reminds me of BTS concerts and that’s a sore topic for me recently. But I was traveling this past weekend and browsing music on the plane, and saw it then played it on a whim. And man, it hit me again just how good that song is. BTS knows how to make good music and execute it perfectly every time.
- I NEED U (Remix): There’s this view in the fandom that BTS only recently started putting out several remixes, but while they’ve certainly put out more in recent years to match pace with Western practices, they’ve also always kinda been into remixes. And back in my day, the fandom actually made it a point to enjoy the remixes. I Need U remix is one such remix I used to jam out to back then, and while playing some of my older lists recently to prepare for Hobi’s birthday, this song played and the nostalgia hit me like a truck.
- Lost: This is the most underrated song in BTS’s discography. It’s one of the songs where you just have to watch the live performance and see the choreography. It’s just too good. In fact, Lost > The Truth Untold. By a mile. Jungkook’s voice and insane runs in that song are something you just have to experience for yourself.
They dropped that banger 3 years after their debut.
- Go Go: This song is what solidified BTS’s success in 2017. Not DNA imo. Just listen to their voices in this song. Listen to how they sing, how unrefined and passionate it is. They sound like they’re having fun. I forgot about Go Go until a few weeks ago and it’s in my rotation again.
- Fly to my Room: Songs like this is why BTS is on top of the k-pop food chain. Nobody in the entire industry can arrange and pull off a song like this: choir/gospel with a fuckass organ + gutter trap + Hoseok’s verse… like, god. Those whispered harmonies in the final chorus before the crescendo outro. Jimin’s high notes…. It’s just such a serve of a song. They killed it.
- Spinebreaker: Someone asked me recently how the rapline became my bias, if I started with one rapline member then the rest followed, or if it was all at once. I didn’t answer that ask but anon if you’re reading this, the answer is all at once. I’d liked the rapline since debut but I think it was this song that did it for me. All of them on this track are insane. From the moment I heard Joon’s voice at the start I just accepted my fate.
Anyway, thanks for this ask Anon. BTS are so loved because they put their heart and soul into the music they make and it shows. It’s why streaming their stuff has never felt like a chore for me. I look forward to listening to their music every day I wake up. It makes my life better. I’m happy it seems to be at least a bit similar for you too.

Jikook Travel Show + Solo Music Timeline Theory
Alright so I’m slowly losing my mind in the current fandom environment + I think this Jikook drought is starting to mess with my brain so I’m going to share my delusional and increasingly desperate timeline for the Jikook show + their solo music. It’s mostly baseless and probably inaccurate BUT I think it could make a LITTLE sense…
So it looks like they built a mini era for Taehyung and Fri(end)s around the extra content he prepared before enlistment. I actually told someone I thought all the small content drops were building up to a bigger project — AND I WAS RIGHT — so this totally validated my baseless theory and here’s what I’m thinking.
I wonder if they’re going to use the travel show as promotional content for Jikook and build a mini era around it like they did with Fri(end)s. I think this would be an especially good idea considering Jimin mentioned he wasn’t able to prepare as much as he wanted before enlistment. I’m assuming maybe he wasn’t able to film a lot of extra content outside of his music and MV (especially based on iirc THs(?) quality over quantity comment).
But that’s okay! Jikook can’t go on any variety shows to promote but they actually have a whole variety show of their own they could use to promote themselves instead! It would definitely make Jimin and Jungkook trend (at least within the fandom) and put them somewhat in the public eye. I think it’s also the perfect content to bring a portion of ia & casual fans back who would then be able to catch their music announcements easier (which is one of the points of promoting).
BH could be saving the show for a content gap considering it’s not really time sensitive, but I still think it would be smarter of them to make the most out of the show and let it serve multiple purposes and promote Jikook. They don't have a lot to work with, so they should make the most out of every piece of content they have imo.
Point two - I could see them using it for FESTA as well. Obviously Jin returning is going to be the big huge mega amazing FESTA event, but I’m wondering if they’re going to want to have some extra content for ARMYs to consume. It would make it so Jin wouldn’t have the entirety of FESTA resting on his shoulders either. So if they don't have something else already prepared, the travel show would work great.
AFAIK it’s the first proper unit project in CH2 and it’s going to definitely have some OT7 vibes. I’m sure Jikook are going to talk about the group, missing the other members, what they want to do when they’re all back together — stuff like that. The other members might even make cameos (YG talked to them on the phone when they were in NY, I’d be surprised if they didn’t video call TH at some point, and there’s always the possibility that vminkook filmed something together in Jeju).
It’ll probably also be a bit nostalgic for everyone who misses BV and ITS and might have some throwbacks to previous BTS vacations — which is perfect for FESTA month! I think with BTS being ia it would be smart to cater to ARMYs who are probably going to be especially emotional and missing BTS as well as remind those who have started to drift of that bond and partial OT7 dynamic that drew many in to begin with. I think this sort of content has been something ARMYs have been really deprived of so it’s definitely going to be a big deal imho. It’s the most CH1 like content we’re getting so far in CH2.
If they don’t release the show during June, I could still see them dropping the teasers/trailer during FESTA. That alone would bring a lot of excitement and hype and add to the festivities and would be a great time to advertise the show.
Also, Jikook described it as a gift, and FESTA is the perfect time for those so…
If they don’t release it for FESTA (or possibly just tease it) I still think it makes a lot of sense as a summer release for several reasons.
For one, the first part of the show was recorded right when JK released Seven. We know that JK is likely releasing more music this summer so that would actually tie in perfectly. One of my biggest desires for the show is to hear them talk a little bit about their thoughts and feelings on their solos careers (unrealistic I know lmao) but if they reference that at all, it ties even better into new music releases. Especially if they reference or talk about Seven right before JK releases another summer single (or album) around the same time period. It works really well for either of them tbh!
The first half of the show is also going to have summery vibes because of when it was recorded, so releasing during the summer is sort of fitting. This is also the sort of content I think we historically got around summer/fall?
So all of this suggests a possible timeline where we get both Jikook’s music and their show in the same possibly 2-3 month time period around the summer. Fri(end)s only had a two week gap between HOTS so we know they aren’t worried about spacing these projects too far from each other, however I would hope they’d have more sense then to have Jikook’s music overlap or be too close together 😭 I don’t think we could handle the akgae wars if that happened 😭
Anyways, we know for sure that JK is dropping something in the summer based on his comment during his live (he might just have been referencing the show, but I’m pretty sure most of us took it to mean music). But as far as Jimin, we don’t really have any hints about when his music is dropping that I’m aware of unfortunately? But I could see summer making a lot of sense actually!
I can’t remember the exact wording he used but I remember him telling ARMYs that his next release would be something lighter. And during his documentary screening he listed out all the things that he knows ARMYs would like to see from him. I think if he’s going for something lighter that caters more towards ARMYs interests and expectations summer would be a very smart and fitting month to release (and it depends on how he wants to market and promote it — are we going for charts with remixes, or is it going to be just one version no CDs kind of deal — because if it’s the prior, summer would fit better imo).
Anyways, we also do know Jimin filmed something at the hot springs… and I mean… water… wet… hot springs… (shirtless??)... I mean… that could be pretty summery actually right? 🥵
Still he could land in May or September (I don’t think it’s going to be as late as October but possibly. They could tie it into his birthday and if JK released in August it would still fit the travel show theory).
I think this theory also makes sense because the way they were talking in that live before enlistment they sort of made it sound like their content was to tide us over until Jin was back. Obviously there’s no way for the three remaining members to release their projects before Jin returns (nor would that even make a lot of sense to begin with) but if you think of it as them keeping us busy until Jin has time to prepare his album it works actually!
Jin is going to need time to prepare and record his album, MV, and whatever other promotional content he had in mind + probably rest a little. This gives him that time while keeping ARMYs busy, and you know this is just a nice big free gap of time to drop projects whereas when Jin is active (and then JH) it’ll be a bit busier and probably more complicated to organize.
It also would work because JH definitely has plans for when he gets out of the military, so by the time JN1 comes out and has been promoted (maybe he’ll even do a single first and then an album) JH will be back and have had some time to rest and probably prepare whatever he had in mind. Some people have speculated that he might do a mini tour which actually would fit perfectly but I’m not sure how much of a stretch that is. If anyone could do it though, it would be JH!
So yeah, enlisted members all releasing and finishing off their big projects pre-JN1 just makes sense as 2seok will then take over and have the attention on them. I could be wrong, but it kind of fits nicely in my mind lol.
The big question mark is Namjoon because honestly I thought he would be one of the first members to release with the way he was teasing something but now I have no clue. He also said that it was going to have different vibes than indigo iirc so I don't know if he would want to release in the fall/winter months again or if he would actually want to go for a summer release too. I still think the Jikook thing could work even if he releases in summer, it might just shift Jimin to releasing more in the fall.
Anyways, first few months of 2024 we were in Taehyung era, which led into HOTS era which will last until May, which leads into June FESTA and Jin’s return. JK will have an era in the summer, and if we slot minimoni into summer & early fall it would pretty much perfectly cover all of the empty time until JN1 which is followed by JH return and project. I just think it fits nicely.
That still leaves a lot of space in 2025 but I think that would be better for 2seok to cover, and if the JH tour rumors are true that would actually be perfect (please don’t make me wait until 2025 for Jimin 😫).
Like I know this timeline isn’t actually surprising or revolutionary because most people kind of expected all of this to drop in these months lmao because it’s not like there’s actually a ton of time left, but applying some sort of logic around it helped me I guess 😞 All the uncertainty makes it seem like I’m never going to see Jimin again (at least we know JK in the summer) and I need to gaslight myself into having some sort of expectations otherwise every day is too dark.
Hoping some of this is right but don't come @ me if it's not lol 🤡😩
#jikook#jimin#jungkook#just some mad theorizing#because I'm DESPERATE#I want credit if I'm right#and everyone to forget they saw this if I'm wrong#🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️#i got a bit repetitive but I'm too lazy#and emotionally dead inside to edit this lol#hope I'm not missing some info that would invalidate all of this 😳#if anyone else has theories i would like to hear them 😔

okay listen Aziraphale has basically NOTHING in common with Elle Woods aesthetically but besides that minor detail a Legally Blonde (specifically: The Musical au) would be PERFECT for Good Omens/Ineffable Husbands????
And I wanna make a distinction right off the bat - if we went by the movie, Crowley would proooobably be the only one who really fits Elle because she's the only one with a real fish out of water narrative. HOWEVER. Musical!Elle is more overtly like... fish out of water but still with some safety nets (ha) to fall back on, which are highlighted within the story. And meanwhile Emmett gets his own fish out of water story with the specific focus on his comparatively underprivileged background, and when you put those two together, Crowley feels a lot more Emmett to me.
Like, Aziraphale has the two key Elle qualities of a) lots of shit going unexamined because he's never truly lacked power/privilege before, and b) belligerent determination to do the right thing even when people are telling him it will cause him personal detriment. Crowley's whole dynamic with Aziraphale in the Job and Resurrectionist minisodes is basically just Emmett in Chip On My Shoulder if you swap 'navigating the heaven/hell dichotomy' with 'navigating law school.' GABRIEL IS A DEAD RINGER FOR WARNER. THE METATRON WOULD BE CALLAHAN. Serious and Blood In The Water fit them both so well post-s2 I'm just [clutches face] (the reprise for Serious is probably even more fitting for Gabriel than the initial version tbh).
Also, What You Want is just concentrated Aziraphale energy imo - "So! I will get into Harvard, impress Gabriel, win him back, and then marry him! Wait, you really think I need more of a plan than that? Can't I just... charge ahead and do it anyway?" In some ways I think I like this AU because it's effectively Aziraphale walking up to Crowley and going 'god says it's MY turn to be the absolute hot mess'
Beelzebub can a) be Vivian and b) stay together with Gabriel at the end, as a treat for Gabriel (Gabriel still drops out to become a model). This is partly because I find the idea of Beelzebub becoming Aziraphale's personal cheerleader towards the end fuckin delightful. The Brooke thing feels like it would take some finagling but I am confident it can be wrangled into a good shape with the right choice of characters (Harriet Dowling is legitimately a frontrunner right now but I think that could very easily change).
I can think of multiple directions in which to approach the Paulette and Kyle subplot, and honestly multiple couples who would fit if you changed up the surrounding circumstances a bit? I like the idea of Nina and Maggie in a very drifted version, maybe where they both still own their canon businesses, because then TECHNICALLY Nina as the one with the horrible ex would be Paulette, and it would be fun to switch around who is hopelessly pining after who!!
I am also playing around with Delta Nu roles BUT I know in my soul that Muriel is Margot if only because then they get her line like "Keep it positiiiiiive~ As you slap [them] to the floor! :D" Please take a moment to imagine Muriel singing that in full earnestness, it's a delight.
(And having decided this I kind of want the frat boys from the bit in What You Want to just be like... multiple Erics).
These are the edges of the idea, where stitching it together into something coherent starts to get a bit shaky, but at its core is Ineffable Husbands content along such lines as!
Crowley getting Emmett's little moment of delight at the end of Chip On My Shoulder when Aziraphale makes his first successful argument in class! ('Fell' rhymes with 'Elle' we can get some scansion going here with 'little Miss Woods comma Elle' I know it)
For that matter, the "Where are your law books?" bit in Chip On My Shoulder would be extremely funny if Aziraphale's dorm room is just the bookshop in miniature, and then still under all of that the textbooks are plastic wrapped and completely buried and unread becase they simply do not interest him the way an antique bible does.
Aziraphale in the playboy bunny costume and Crowley doing the "What's up?" [excruciating pause] "... Doc?"
The proposal right at the end where Crowley gets the repeated little 'oh my god's!
So many things about Take It Like A Man!
"Swallow your pride for me, just nod yes" is just such an Aziraphale @ Crowley line, generally.
THE CHORUS "Here you'll become what you're supposed to be/You think you can't but you can/Think of the guy you want most to be/Here's your chance to make it..." I will FIGHT people on how much this fits, Aziraphale has always wanted Crowley to have a place where he can inhabit the wants-to-do-good parts of his personality without fear or punishment, which Crowley is convinced he cannot have. This is the same idea!! (And in this AU, a more seamless role in the establishment is... legitimately the best that Aziraphale has the power to offer Crowley, tbh).
"Why can I never say no to her?" is basically just Crowley's canon inner monologue, c'mon.
"That's the best part/The outside is new/But now it reflects what's already in you/Couldn't change that if I wanted to" Again, I am prepared to Fight about this being a brilliant fit.
And then finally with this song, "Don't watch me change!" would have added embarrassed Crowley Noises which is wonderful to think about.
AND!!! The part of this whole stupid concept that so deeply compels me!!!!!
The duet part of the title song from either side of the door!!
"What about love/I never mentioned love/The timing's bad I know/But perhaps if I'd made it more clear/That you belong right here/You wouldn't have to go/Cause you'd know that I'm so much in love"-
AND
"We both know you're worth so much more"
AND
"If you can hear, can I just say/How much I want you to stay"|"It's not up to me..."
AND
[in chorus] "You are the best thing about this place-"
I am going to be thinking about this last one for days.
#Ineffable Husbands#Aziracrow#Good omens#Legally blonde#Legally blonde the musical#Aziraphale#Crowley#Ineffable bureaucracy#muriel#beelzebub#vinylatte#the metatron#gabriel#Also Aziraphale post-breakup with Gabriel doing the whole 'Must we all descend into madness?!' that feels extremely Him#And going back to Chip On My Shoulder AGAIN Aziraphale calling Harvard 'my personal circle of hell' is... extremely on the nose

tuesday again 12/19/2022
shambling along towards the new year
listening
cotton heads by caravan palace. i think this has been on every spotify wrapped playlist ive ever had. soft and comforting in a way that’s hard for me to describe. this has been part of the background music in some of the softest times of my life, winter-warm and safe and solitary noodling around on some project that involves a lot of fiddling with tiny pieces on a desk. spotify
youtube
-
reading
houston thrift stores are, predictably, awash with cowboy western novels. mostly it’s every louis l’amour or zane grey possible (no thanks)
jake logan’s SLOCUM AND THE YELLOWBACK TRAIL is number three hundred and seventy nine in the series, which is quite impressive. i am fascinated when a book attempts to transplant a cowboy into an urban environment so we’ll stick with it for a bit, despite a truly horrible sex scene describing a “rigid pole”. there were no onomatopoeia sex sounds which is both blessing and curse bc the intel SLOCUM gathered during this sex scene seemed like a completely different conversation totally unrelated to the sex he was having. she simply happened to come three times in three pages while telling him everything he needed for Next Location.
-
watching
saw several very beautiful movies in the last two weeks, one of which i liked very much.
youtube
Experiment in Terror (1962, dir. Edwards) has one of my favorite Mancini-composed pieces of music but i had never seen the movie it was from. a neo-noir man with an asthmatic rasp puts pressure on a bank teller and her teen sister to rob the bank by terrorizing them through various means. however, despite successfully playing on a lot of Womanly Fears (unexpected phone calls, driving at night, being alone) the fbi. this is perhaps a bit snide since it is extremely good at keeping the tension up through most of the runtime, the leads all did a good job imo— a letterboxed reviewer pointed out the villain played by Ross Martin has a certain chameleon-like quality from scene to scene and it is really arresting, he pops up in some unexpected places to great effect. a well-shot movie, just a hair longer than i wanted it to be, i don’t think any movie could survive the hype i built up in my head after loving than mancini piece so much, and was not quite the vibe i was looking for on the afternoon i finished it.
dailymotion
in a different noir with an important scene during a baseball game, Stray Dog (1949, dir. Kurosawa). everything you could possibly say about this movie has already been said. mifune is such a fucking joy to watch as a somewhat hapless young cop with a bad case of the scruples. gets his fully loaded pistol pickpocketed on the tram, sending him hither and yon during a brutally hot summer tracking down every bullet. widely available for free. fucking beautiful work of art. deeply annoying when widely acclaimed movies are actually really good
-
playing
nothing new to report, nothing i want to play has been a free epic game lately. very excited that a character ive been waiting for is dropping in genshin on…uhhhhh…tomorrow? she has sunglasses. she has a gunbrella. she can call in heavy cannon bombardment. she’s just so cute
-
making
one of the purposes of the tuesdaypost is to remind myself to expand the selection of things i do and my brain partially feels like sludge bc of the time of year and partially bc i haven’t fucking done anything more complicated than scrambled eggs or cleaning things in like two weeks

i can’t get over how good the new black veil song is but the VIDEO? THE PRODUCTION VALUE? they’ve always had good and interesting music videos especially with andy’s artistic vision and the world-building he’s so dedicated to, but this is an insane jump to the next level. imo the phantom tomorrow was a new chapter in the quality and depth of their music videos but i’ve never seen a video of theirs that’s as… elaborate? detailed? high-quality? as this one HOLY SHIT!
i saw some people saying they were disappointed that there was no album announcement to accompany the new song and i understand that because i can’t remember a time that they’ve dropped a single that wasn’t from an already-announced upcoming album (save for temple of love but that was a) a cover and b) a collab), but considering the depth of the music video, the sweeney todd concept being a realization of one of andy’s defining artistic influences, the robustness of this project that we’ve seen just from the music video and the rollout leading up to it, AND the fact that andy posted a picture of his notebook for the new album a few months back, i can’t imagine that this is a standalone release. it feels way too big to just be for a single… but i could be wrong! we shall see! all i currently care about is that this video gave me andy covered in blood and killing a cop. he did this for me specifically <3
#i know there are so few people who follow me who listen to black veil so this is more just for me#bvb talk

For the choose violence ask game: 8, 9, 10, 11!
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Jake English is the most emotionally intelligent person in Homestuck and everyone who disagrees is wrong.
9. worst part of canon
jesus fuck that's a fucking question and a half, lemme think
10. worst part of fanon
ksdljflksdjfl i don't know how the answer can be anything but vriska, honestly. actually, no. no. i'm gonna say what the fandom did to tavros, basically throwing out his entire character to justify why its actually not that bad that vriska broke his back and then tried to make him apologize to her for being a "cripple" fuck off, leave tavros alone
already answered 11 so uuuuh
worst part of canon..................
........
Like. I logically understand why the Retcon and the accelerated ending of Homestuck happened. I do. I understand that Hussie just needed the story to be over at last, and as a writer, I respect that deeply and it was entirely their right to do it the way they did imo.
however
the actual execution of the Retcon has aged really badly for me.
The one and only part of it I can look at and say I liked was Terezi. I love how Terezi changes the universe by changing herself, and I think it's one of the most powerful and profound moments of the entire story, truly. The way she.... breaks herself and remakes herself into what she has to be to alter the course of reality is staggering.
But.... I have tremendous issues with the actual technical execution. The entirety of Vriskagram leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.
(Which, some people might say "but it's the thing that made davekat canon" and my brother in karkat, davekat was already canon pre-retcon, that was the direction their relationship was going, it wasn't even subtle, i didn't need vriskagram for that)
That Vriska solved the Gamzee issue, fixed Rose's alcoholism, saved Terezi, got ahold of the music boxes to hop around and fix the prototyping, she fixes the Strider problem, and the way she supplants Karkat's entire point in the story honestly is so fucking aggravating. Vriska was a duplicitous turnways manipulator and she's flattened into a bandaid for the entire story. It sucks. It flattens everyone.
And on some level, thematically, it makes sense? She is the Thief of Light, and Light is Agency, so her greatest triumph is stealing the agency from everyone until the spotlight is hers alone and it washes her out. Its a triumph for the Alpha Timeline and its a tragedy for Vriska herself as she loses all of the progress she made as a person.
sighs
And also the fact that... Rose and Dirk never talk, no one defends Jake from Vriska's bullying, the way Jane and Jake's character arcs hard stop and never get resolved, the way the whole Roxy Died thing is just not dealt with-- so many balls get dropped because of the compressed ending, and on a technical level, I feel like the quality of HS post-retcon drops like a rock tossed into a canyon. And the glory of Dirk And Dave's conversation cannot singlehandedly fix that. Esp bc while its the perfect dismount of Dave's character arc, it's not the end of Dirk's. Out of the four alpha kids, only Roxy gets a full arc and it sucks.
DEEP BREATH
yeah that's the worst part of hs

30 days Paradox Live challenge
DAY 14: favorite battle
💿 獄Luck vs 悪漢奴等 (Round 1 - "RAGE")
It couldn't help but be this one, considering it's the stage battle that pits my two favorite groups against each other. When the pairings came out, I seriously hoped that these two would face each other, because the implications were so many and all extremely interesting! (the drama confirmed) We have the interaction between Satsuki and Ryoga, the one between Zen (and by extension, Iori, who is being a very kick-ass leader here) and Hancho, the comedy of the interface between Reo and Kenta…and then, of course, the HokuShion. You will now understand how there couldn't have been a more obvious choice for me. But leaving aside the plot entanglements, it was just the music clash that triggered me so much! As I have already expressed abundantly in previous days, AKYR and GL are the groups whose music is for me absolutely the best. AKYR are part of the 4 bigs, while GL are part of the 4 new groups, so it would be natural to think of AKYR winning hands down. WELL, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. Among the 4 new groups, GL overwhelmingly stood out, imo, with a clearly superior musical quality as well as a strong musical personality. They went at it from the start without sparing themselves, and so it happened in this battle as well. When the two units came out with their respective songs, Fight for Liberty and 大火傷 -License To Kill-, I swear to you that I had a very hard time deciding which one I preferred and consequently couldn't even make clear predictions about the winner! (and the ever-present sense of guilt, "but if I chose GL I would betray AKYR!!!" or "but AKYR slapped, how can I not choose them?!") Of course, AKYR have a very loyal audience on their side, so it was obvious that they would win…but may I say that GL didn't disfigure at all and showed themselves perfectly equal to their opponent? Idk about you, but this battle for me was pure adrenaline. GL's rockin' and aggressive style was perfect to counteract the badassery with which AKYR showed up (and let me say that when AKYR drop songs different from their usual cheerful mood, they can be very fearsome).

i think my honest opinion of the new lc! songs is like. theyre fine. lol. the lyricism is very fun so glad to see that hasnt changed but the sound overall is feeling kind of i dont know safe i guess? the vocals definitely have a smoother more commercial quality than their usual sound imo and i am a little worried this is like. meant to appeal to newer fans by sanding down the rough edges so to speak since from what i understand a lot of the new fanbase was brought over via like much more acoustic-y covers for the most part. not to say that i think theyre selling out or anything bc i dont think that theyve always seemed pretty satisfied with their niche i guess i just definitely think the sound is going to be more in line with what they had going in sick scenes where ive personally always preferred the more manic experimental sort of energy romance is boring brought to the table. but well RiB dropped like 15 fucking years ago now so thats to be expected lmao. but anyway the song list sounds fun and im definitely looking forward to hearing the rest of the album (& this is only my opinion on 2 songs out of 15 lmao) definitely nice to have new music after seven years. jesus christ. preordered the cd which i never do like i always kind of want to hear the music before buying it but im still v excited to hear the rest of it in july 👍

hello! i’ve been going around asking for writing tips for writers i look up to and you’re one of them🙂↕️
do you have any tips? advice? idk, sth you’d tell yourself when you first got started with this account? i’d like to know, since i’m honestly scared to even start😮💨
HIIIIIIIIII!!!!!! SORRY FOR BEING SOO SO LATE WAHHH but hmmmm writing tips..... something i'd tell myself when i was just starting out is just "do whatever" . like write whatever the fuck you want. you don't have to apologize for making a piece self-indulgent bc i think they should all be self-indulgent anyway. you should always write for yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! obviously it's fun when others also like your works but imo it's more important that YOU like them. the thing that makes your writing come alive is you. write what you want, write small things write long things. experiment. have fun with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mm also don't rush yourself. i feel like personally the second i start to force myself into writing it all just goes to shit, like the quality just drops and i can see that it's turning out really bland and just very meh. take your time. ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for inspiration, music and pinterest are your best friends!!!!!! i have many folders and playlists dedicated to certain pieces that i'm working on and whenever i feel like i'm in a slump i just put on the music and try to look for more pics to add to the folder and that really helps me get in the zone. actually watching films is also something that sometimes helps me get some inspiration and motivation, i just try to find a film with a similar topic and then watch that or just have it playing in the background while i write to immerse myself into the story.
things doesn't have to be linear all the time. your pieces don't have to have a proper start and they don't have to have a proper ending. you can write about one situation and just leave it at that . leave the ending open if you want. start the piece in the middle of a conversation. play around with time and with your own style. you don't have to show everything all the time and you can do time jumps. you can literally do whatever. genuinely just please fuck around lmao that's thee best advice imo. write in different styles, yk maybe one piece is more dialogue heavy maybe the other is just descriptions and stuff. you don't have to pick one way to write. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is the best part about writing, this is what made me love it so much. there are no rules.
oh also. fuck around with the lenghts of your sentences. this is a favourite of mine. some sentences just are meant to be longer, sometimes you just want to use commas multiple times, sometimes it just feels right. and some are meant to be short. the flow of your writing depends so much on where you place the commas and the periods and whatever the fuck you call this ; and this - okay. make one word sentences. make a paragraph long sentences. go nuts go wild. PLEASE DO IT IT'S GENUINELY SOOO MUCH FUN
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM i think for now this is all i've got. perhaps it does sound silly when you're just starting out and somebody tells you to "do whatever" but please just trust me on this. the best pieces will be the ones that you not only love the outcome of, but the whole process of making it. please just fuck around play around take your time with everything and experiment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and also. be patient with yourself. and be gentle . i love you<33333333
#OHH YEAHHH PROF. MICKEY IS IN THE HOUSEEE#jkjk i hope this is of ANY help to you lmao#there will be bad writing days and there will be very good writing days#it's great#I PROMISE:3333333333333#friends!!

time to unmute all the dawntrail tags babey
and dump some spoilery overall impressions below the cut ⬇
sorry i'm gonna start off with my major criticisms. first is that i wish the two halves of the story were more smoothly integrated. like if the beginning had more foreshadowing, more snippets of lore that would become important later, that kind of thing… it would just make it a more cohesive whole? and i'd rework zoraal ja to facilitate that, i think, because imo he's got super weak characterization;;;
second... i like wut lamat. i really do. but i think the story suffered for how much it put on her shoulders. it made her carry the whole first half of the expansion practically alone and that's just not something many (maybe any) characters can do. it just got tiring how every time the party splits up we get paired with her. and i get that they wanted to shift focus away from the scions we've already spent 10 years with, but it felt like a bit of a mean trick that they sent us to tural with most of them and then they got almost NO attention (aside from g'raha in zone 6 which i really appreciated), so i think letting us spend just a little more meaningful quality time with them instead of so much with wuk lamat would have been nice on two fronts.
but the positives!!!!!!!!!!! maaaaaannnn i loved the later parts of the story to death. especially zone 6. exquisite vibes, and what unique vibes for a "final dungeon." the krile and erenville stuff was beautiful. the incredible lore drops; i think i'll have to talk about lore separately but WOW.
the IX references (my favorites are Everkeep being the Iifa Tree, and Zoraal Ja pulling a Trance Kuja for his trial fight), the X references (the Pelupelu, and Living Memory being dream Zanarkand!), the surprise Type-0 reference (the living forgetting anyone who's died as "a kindness")… i can always do without the most explicit references (i'd have been happy if they'd just called Alexandria something else tbh), but i truly adore bringing back concepts and themes back in new ways that fit seamlessly into the new game's world, and they did a really great job with that.
and hot damn all of the zones are gorgeous. jaw-dropping, all of them. maybe bar Shaaloani, but even as a "worst" one, Shaaloani is good. i really truly didn't want to leave Canal Town. the music is incredible, no surprises there...
it's 2:36 am and i will stop here i think. but i really did have a good time overall :'3

final thoughts · fall 2022
since i know there're people who like to read my opinions on the different seasons, here you have my thoughts on this (HOLY SHIT OMG WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???????????) season.
akiba meido sensou (7.5/10)
so, i never meant to watch this show. i thought it would be just another CGDCT slice of life where maids do their maid stuff, and they have fun... I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS THO. this series is crazy, like, the first ep starts with a maid being shot in the head like ??????? and then ranko (best girl imo) starts shooting this rival maid group along with a cutsie song like ??????????????? i was both confused and charmed. this anime is such a blast, it's filled with twists and turns, random shit that it's bizarre but it also makes so much sense. i can't fully explain it, you need to watch it.
akuyaku reijou nano de last boss wo kattemimashita (4/10)
dear lord the toxicity here is astronomical. the way i was looking for a hamefura replacement and i ended up getting this... i feel scammed. this was meant to be a fantasy romance story, but it ended up being a contest to see who's the most toxic person in the relationship. between throwing someone out of a flying carriage just to see them cry and almost stabbing someone on the crotch because they want to break off their engagement with you... i don't know who's worse. they totally deserve each other.
blue lock (8.5-8/10)
i cannot decide myself on what rating i should give to it. while i do love bllk and think is one of the best sports series i've ever read, 8-bit's adaptation is... interesting. while i did think the first episode was amazing, the visual level just started dropping. some of the hand-drawn animation looks weird, and the cgi sometimes looks like it has been taken from a mobile game. i have mixed feelings with these series; while it's still fun and interesting, it just doesn't kick me as much in the chest as the manga does. if you wanna start bllk, please read the manga first.
bocchi the rock! (6.5/10)
as i said before, i'm not a big fan of CGDCT, and this series is just that. i was into the music part of the series and bocchi's social phobia (which, as someone who went through it, i think it's a pretty good representation), but it's still not my cup of tea. it bores me at times, and i'm the one to blame. it's not bad, it's just not my thing. if you're into this kinda stuff, i fully recommend it.
boku no hero academia 6 (8/10)
NOW THAT IS A GOOD SEASON. this one's adapting one of (if not the) best arcs in the series and hell yeah i'm hyped. in case someone hasn't started it, i won't spoil anything. i'll just tell you to please not worry about the quality: the art, animation and everything in general is being tretaed with so much thought and love. i'm just so happy to see all of them back!
boku no roboco (4/10)
(at this point, i've only watched two eps. my opinion on the series may change) i know the manga is popular, i know it makes a lot of anime references. i wanted to try giving it a chance and oh lord. first, it's difficult to find. second, it isn't even funny. if i'm not dropping it is because the episodes are short and fuck it. but not because you make a shit tone of anime references means that you're gonna be funny.
c danchi (1/10)
chainsaw man (9/10)
i'll just leave this here and go on with my life.
GUYS. GUYS. IT'S FINALLY HERE. BABE'S FINALLY HERE. AND OH LORD SHE'S LOOKING AMAZING. i've been waiting for this series for so long, (since it first got announced like holy fuck the feels). i have the entire part one on my bookshelf and it brings me so much joy (and tears and trauma and—) to finally see it animated. the animation, the art, the music, the voices— everything is just fantastic, perfect even. the op is a banger and each and every ed is just so good (some better than others imo). i'm so happy mappa were the ones that took the project like omg thanks mappa but fr fr. if i'm not giving it a higher note is because i'm afraid that would be my inner fangirl speaking so yeah. my children look perfect, that's enough for me. and fuck those who complain about the cgi istg—
cool doji danshi (7/10)
just a pretty chill slice of life short series about a bunch of dorks trying to survive in the wild. they're all so relatable and idk what to think about it. babe's also pretty absent-minded, so this is pretty comfy to me... is this how #representation feels like? besides that, there's not much to say about it since it's just... that. they exist, and i'm happy they do.
do it yourself!! (5/10)
how many times have i said i don't like CGDCT series? many times, but i still go and watch them. why? because i'm dumb ig. it's just a series about a bunch of girls doing bricolage, that's pretty much it.
fumetsu no anata e 2 (8/10)
second season of "don't get attached to the cast because they're all going to die". at this rate, i think i'm made of stone because i haven't shead a tear in the entire series. i'm also getting use to the show's formula (introduce new character → make you feel attached to them → kill them), so ig that's also why i don't feel that sad anymore? idk, i do feel sad but not that sad yk. anyway, is as good as the first season so you should give it a try.
fuufu ijou, koibito miman. (6.5/10)
i started not liking the series (the male mc was annoying to me and i felt like he would only see the girls by their "personality"), but i ended up getting attached in some sort of way? it's an easy to watch, funny romcom that, even if it's nothing special, will entertain you for the time being.
kage no jitsuryokusha ni naritakute! (5.5/10)
i like the idea, but not the execution. i mean, kinda. it started being a parody of isekai series, but i feel like isekai is slowly but surely eating the show alive. i'm not that interested on the plot and the ecchi scenes and comments are... something. to give you some example: there was this scene where these girls would pose in ways others could check their breasts better and perceive them as bigger than their opponent's. or maybe the many comments they do about the protagonist's dick being a fricking sword????? umm not thank you.
koukyuu no karasu (7/10)
a historical fantasy shoujo series with interesting plot points and a cute romance?? hell yeah, count me in! each and every character is lovable af and trust me when i tell you you'll never get bored. the art is so cute and comfortable (idk how to explain it), and the romance is just... i just want them to date already, am i asking too much? definitely give it a chance.
mairimashita! iruma-kun 3 (8/10)
new iruma season and the first one i'm watching as it's coming out. the children are back and more chaotic than ever in this new arc (the best one yet, from what i heard). i just can't stress enough how this series makes me feel, how comfy it makes me feel. i've connected with the characters in such a way it just makes me smile every time each and every single one of them just appears on the screen. i'm so excited to see who'll win! (no spoilers please)
mob psycho 100 III (8.5/10)
this isn't the last season. no, i refuse to accept it. even though many characters are getting their closures and all this chaos is going on and every wish of them to have a happy life has turned to ash. this is not the end. and that never happened. no. just. leave me alone.
mushikaburi-hime (6/10)
so, they're trying to bring historical shoujos back and while we did get some interesting results (koukuuu no karasu), we also got series like mushikaburi-hime. the series is about a girl who is obssesed with books and a dude that isn't, but because he likes her he's up to deal with that little trait of hers. and... that's pretty much it. the series revolves around their relationship (which sometimes turns a bit toxic due to the male mc). the female mc hasn't progressed in over ten episodes, she won't progress now. if you're interested, there it is. but it's not a series i would recommend.
renai flops (7/10)
i said it before: i love shitshows. this one seemed to be a parody on ecchi, harem series which caught my eye. i mean, the first ep involves the dog scene which is one of the most bizarre scenes i've seen on any romcom. at first, i was gonna watch it for the laughs from how bad it all was, but then the second half happened and it changed my view on the series. from a parody that makes things absurd on purpose to something else. i would recommend anyone who's interested to watch it and please, do not spoil yourself.
shinobi no itokki (4/10)
this show is about a dude who goes to high school and he gets confessed to by a girl he doesn't know. only that it wasn't a confession but a trap, because that girl was a ninja and was trying to kidnap him. but he's able to runaway because he has all these ninja abilities that his mother forced him to learn and never questioned why. and then his mum tell him they're actually ninjas and now he has to go to this ninja school that's literally a high school building in the middle of nowhere like ????? i thought ninjas were discreet???? except no one cares about the school because then someone (don't ask, don't remember) gets betrayed and blames the dude's clan and shit happens and wth is going on????
spy x family part 2 (8.5/10)
part two of this very wholesome but also very fake family! their shenanigans are as crazy as they were in part one, and we got introduced to our queen, fiona. also, the main fake couple are growing closer due to the mission and i think that's pretty cool now get married for real this time.
tensei shitara ken deshita (6/10)
just your average isekai with better than average animation and a wholesome bond between both leads. besides that, i have no much to say about it. i absolutely adore fran and amanda, but the whole idea of fran being op almost from the start is frustrating. i wanna see her grow, but this left me kinda cold.
urusei yatsura (6.5/10)
many people were hyping this show, and i do understand why. after all, it's pretty rough fighting against nostalgia. still, even though the visuals are so cute and the op and ed are pretty good, it just shows the series it's an old one. the comedy falls flat at times along with some characters, although it's still enjoyable. i don't know if i'll keep on watching the second season, but for now i don't feel like dropping it.
uzaki-chan wa asobitai! ω (6/10)
so, uzaki is back. the first season has never been one of my favorites, but i decided to give the second season a try and watch it as it was coming out and... well, it's uzaki. for some of y'all it may be hilarious, but to me it's just fine. it's boring most of the time, although i do like the idea of the mcs dating (please do so for fuck's sake). if you're into this kind of comedy, you should give it a try.

THREE YOUTUBE VIDEOS I AM LOOKING FOR HELP ME FIND THEM
There are three (unrelated) youtube videos that I've been looking for for many, many years. I have applied the fullest extend of my search engine knowledge to locate these videos and have not been able to do so. If you know of any of these videos or could help me find them, please let me know.
The first video I'm looking for is actually a series, a Minecraft let's play uploaded probably around 2010 or 2011. All I remember is that the uploader had "23" in their username, and at one point in the series planted "twenty trees" outside of their Minecraft house in reference to this fact. I may have gotten some detail wrong, but that's the gist of it—I remember very clearly the phrase "twenty trees" spoken in the uploader's British accent and their repeated reference to it. This would have also been one of the earlier Minecraft let's plays on youtube; IIRC it was obscure enough at this point that the user has to explain the basic gameplay of Minecraft in the first episode, as the audience can't be expected to know.
The second video I'm looking for was also uploaded around 2010 or so (give or take a few years), by a guy talking about studying Latin and Ancient Greek. The guy had several videos about this topic on his channel, and the details I remember are as follows. In one video, he states that he learned Ancient Greek because he read a bad translation of the Iliad or the Odyssey (can't remember which; could have been another Greek or Latin epic maybe) and upon learning how wrong the translator had gotten things, vowed to never read another book in translation again. In another video, he talks about how much his Latin was improved by reading though Lingua Latina by Hans Ørberg, and how it did more for him than any traditional Latin textbook. In another video, he responded to angry comments that had been accusing him of pronouncing Latin wrong because he dropped the 't' in the word 'Latin' when speaking English; he clarified that he never dropped the 't' when speaking Latin itself and that this was just a feature of his particular English dialect. The videos were recorded in an amateurish style in this guy's house, with little editing and not especially good camera or audio equipment. As far as I can remember it wasn't like, grainy or anything, just typical of the era in being essentially very low production quality. Basically just this guy standing in front of a wall in his house talking about language learning. He may also have been studying Sanskrit, idk. I think I initially found him by googling "book like Lingua Latina for Sanskrit" or something to that effect; no such book really exists but he may have had a video discussing the topic? But don't quote me on that, it might be an inaccurate memory.
Ok, the last video I'm looking for is a specific remix of one of the songs from the anime film Your Name, uploaded in 2017 or 2018. This is the most likely of the three to actually have been taken down imo, for copyright reasons. I can't remember which song it was a remix of, maybe Zenzenzense or Nandemonaiya. I think I found it initially in one of youtube's auto-generated playlists after listening to a bunch of the music from that movie. I don't know enough about music theory or whatever to actually describe what the remix was like, but I know that the video had a background image that was fanart of the two main characters looking up at the sky, in which (I think) the comet from the movie was visible. The characters where relatively small and the view of the sky was quite large. I think the fanart was in a slightly more cutesy style than the actual art of the movie, although not to the degree of being chibi or anything.
If any of you happen to know of any of these videos, please let me know! I have been searching and searching!
