Roderich sees a lot of himself in Alfred, despite their differences. They both grew up quickly and had immense power and responsibility thrust upon them from a young age, constantly in the limelight, constantly putting on a persona.
He understands the pain of knowing the same nations who are friendly to your face, hate you behind your back. He understands the fear of making a mistake. He understands the isolation of power best of all

A question for you if you don't mind !
Reading your lovely fic " Two Steps Forward " made me wonder about some things .
Do you think even after learning Reznov also brainwashed him(Alex Mason) for his own revenge , Mason still holds Reznov in high regard? Or is it more complicated how Mason views Reznov? He has both good and bad associations with Reznov.
I want to hear your opinion ^_^
Thank you!
I don't mind at all!
I personally think that Mason still holds Reznov pretty highly, potentially even to the point of not blaming him at all. We know from Black Ops 2 that Mason never fully recovered from the brainwashing, and that he still thinks positively enough about Reznov to believe that Reznov saved him and the folks he was with. Maybe its just because of the brainwashing, because he still feels like Reznov cared for him or that he (Mason) believes he genuinely felt the same as Reznov, but I don't think he would ever really be able to blame Reznov, at least not enough to hate him
For me, the angle of Mason always caring for Reznov in some way is just fun to play around with too! I think its really interesting for character to have such concrete facts about how horrible someone is, and yet still jump through hoops to justify their behavior, especially when it comes to someone as strong and intelligent as Mason

god it's that claudia's journals were always her way of rejecting her purpose being to serve as louis and lestat's marriage-saving baby. there's no such thing as an objective account in this story but hers is the closest we can come, because she has no reason to self-censor despite louis' discomfort with it. her final entry is when she chooses a wholly new life with madeleine over forever having to live alongside and deal with the fallout of louis and lestat. the entire trial is everyone choosing louis over her except for madeleine. and the final memory of her that will be committed to the record is the version where her burnt corpse is dragged back out as collateral between her fathers, one last fucking time

You know, I do believe there were times during the interrogation where Stephen imagined the relationship he ‘could have had’ with Thomas. Perhaps, there were even points where he “forgot” that this was an interrogation that would ultimately end in Thomas’s death, and let his mind wander to old times.
Like times when they worked with Wolsey. This is probably not the first time he’s seen Thomas hold his own in a hot seat; there had to be times when they were younger, working under Wolsey, when he sat and enjoyed seeing Thomas use his lawyer jargon, and run circles and circles around young men who think they could best him. And I mean even after Wolsey died the books, until Stephen is sent to France, they have a decent on-and-off relationship where they work together and occasionally, would spend time together.
But, I just took notice of the way he was looking at Thomas during the interrogation, the way they caught each other’s eye once or twice and held their gaze for just…a moment, as if Stephen was going to see how Thomas could wiggle his way out of this hole. He was amused because he knew Thomas more than anyone in there, longer than anyone in there. There was a time they were friends, a time where an event like this - Thomas using his wit to outsmart people - was just a common thing between them, and Stephen was impressed. But of course, when Norfolk started talking, reality came crashing down and Stephen had to accept that, this fire he enjoyed so much from Thomas, would be put out in less than what? Forty-eight hours? His friend, his enemy, the man he had hated but respected, the man he had in a way been manipulated into hating, who annoyed him so much but also brought him some forms of amusement and excitement would be dead. And he’d never see him again. Thomas was the only one imo who could both handle Stephen and bring out a more complex side of Stephen.

"I wish you would write a fic where"
It looks like Garak has betrayed Julian. To the Cardassians, to whoever. Gotten him arrested or is interrogating him or otherwise has Serious Consequences. Julian doesn't really believe Garak has betrayed him but the rest of DS9 does and tries to convince him it's true.
Garak, ofc, is miserable and stressed.
ooooo see this is a very fun concept
I think id spin it a little bit from your original idea because im picturing something set after In The Pale Moonlight. id really really want to focus on the Sisko and Julian interactions, with their relationship being rocky after ITPM, and with Sisko being especially suspicious of and angry with Garak, it'd be a perfect storm
im picturing Sisko as wanting to protect Julian, blaming himself for the fact that him and Garak even built a rapport to begin with because he encouraged the relationship, and still raw from ITPM. Sisko cares about Julian, and we know he carries guilt for ITPM, id like to explore that manifesting in him going hard against Garak and almost desperately trying to convince Julian that Garak betrayed him. you'd also have the underlying anger and resentment Sisko already feels towards Garak, so this would be the perfect excuse for him to lash out and direct all his anger onto him, and he could pretty easily justify it as him JUST looking out for his officer and friend. hell, I think he'd even convince himself that that's what he's doing. its equal parts his way of trying to mend things with Julian, and him taking the opportunity to have retribution against Garak
and I think Julian would hate it! I think it would actively make things worse between him and Sisko. Julian is coming off of feeling used and betrayed by his commanding officer, and he also literally just dealt with his first encounter with Sloan and Section 31 and being put in a simulation where all his friends believed he was a traitor. this would no doubt be a very triggering event, and I think he would see Sisko's attempts to protect him as Sisko not believing in him and treating him like he's a naive child, ESPECIALLY after what just happened between them in ITPM. I think he'd properly blow up at Sisko. there would be massive fallout they'd have to navigate. id love to explore that
(also if we take ASiT stuff into consideration... Garak says that Julian knows about Sisko assaulting him in ITPM. that would also factor in majorly, and would be DELICIOUS if Julian blew up at Sisko over it, because all he knows of what happened in that episode is Sisko forced him into compromising his morals and that Sisko assaulted Garak)
from a narrative perspective id also keep it ambiguous up until the end whether or not Garak actually did betray Julian. id really want to have people wondering and thinking about it, id want it to be plausible that maybe he did actually do it. everybody's an unreliable narrator here and I am dragging everyone through the meat grinder until we get to the end, and no matter what happens, there would be severe consequences to all dynamics involved. it'd be so fun to write for Garak with this- im making that man be on the verge of a full mental break, just putting him at some of his absolute lowest, and his state would just make it even more confusing
id also want to explore Kira a lot in this one. her dynamic with Julian, and with Garak. I think it'd be soooooo interesting if she started off being fired up and angry and ready to kill Garak herself, only to be the one (along with Odo) probably to be investigating deeper into what happened and becoming uncertain. Kira being the levelheaded one next to Sisko's rage and desperation. Kira grappling with the idea of defending Garak, of all people. god, Odo would be fascinating to explore here, too- Odo and Garak are friends, and Odo has actually been tortured by Garak, and knows what he's capable of
this is something I dont know if id write it but ohhhh do I have ideas

honestly i should rant more about how much i despise gamkar bcs it is shocking how common of a take it is that "karkat was a bad moirail and thats why gamzee broke up with him".
like do yall not remember what gamzee did. karkat was literally afraid for his and all of his friends lives and he had good fucking reason to be! they were getting murdered around him and gamzee contributed about 40% to that. karkat only entered a moirallegiance with him as a last resort, bcs the entire purpose of moirallegiance is for lowbloods to pacify violent highbloods, and thats exactly what he felt he needed to do.
it was a relationship founded on obligation and fear. there was never any love there and that is not karkats fault by any stretch

I'd love to hear about your thoughts about Dave and Voicemail (but no pressure though)! 🩵
YIPPEEE !! [EXPLODES] 💥
Thank you for sending this, I will be rambling now ehe.
since this is my 2nd time attempting to write this answer, I hope my points are coherent enough to follow lol. Pretty long paragraphs so I'm putting them under the cut.
I don't really know where to start, but I could talk about "Sneeze and Thank You" episode, where Voicemail plays a more important role (even tho it didn't talk much lol) rather than just a brief moment showing the Movers having a hard time getting customers. After Dave fixed it, Voicemail thanked him while also teasing (?) him by using the nickname his mom gave him. Dave just laughs it off and gives Voicemail a tap and I just thought that exchange was really cute ahahahaaah and so here we are.
Tumblr media
After that episode, Voicemail makes another appearance in "March of the Movers", where the Movers check their messages. I just,, wanna point out that after saying there were no messages, Voicemail didn't have any sarcastic or rude remark about it. It even cooperated fine enough when the Movers wanted to change the voice message. Made me think that maybe Voicemail was warming up (?) to the Movers, or maybe when Dave fixed up Voicemail, he had also adjusted something that caused it to not be so mean now lol. It felt similar to Knit Knots' case, where he was somewhat enjoying some excitement and got along better with the Movers.
And just like Knit Knots, Voicemail doesn't appear anymore in later seasons. 🥲
Right when their character and bond were growing to be more interesting, they're gone huhu. In this case it's worse 'cause Voicemail barely appears in Season 1 lmao. Well, as a canon-compliant explanation, I'd think Voicemail broke down again but much worse condition? and Dave eventually had to reset it so it could function again, which is why the telephone/answering machine still exists after Season 1, but it doesn't have its voice or personality anymore.
Anyway headcanon time! I like to think they sometimes make conversation to Voicemail other than checking for messages, and since Dave's workbench is closer to the counter (i think?) that Voicemail sits on, he would talk to it more often.
Also this is me with my thick ship lenses on lol but in the marching episode, when Dave suggested to say something extra silly and fun for the message, it was kinda like Voicemail was overdoing it in an attempt to impress Dave hahahahah.
I think I've been reading one too many scenarios of computer/programs growing attached to their user and wanting attention from them, cuz that just basically sums up the headcanons I have for their dynamic. Either Voicemail just appreciating Dave and the Movers more after fixing it, or something in its systems was adjusted when Dave fixed it so it's not constantly berating the guys unprompted anymore.
I don't know, maybe this is sorta like how Warehouse Mouse was close to Smitty but then got along with the other Movers later on. Voicemail got along better with Dave, and he maybe makes sure it doesn't overstep in its words, and eventually got along with the rest of the team. I like to think Voicemail would like getting messages from Nina, and sometime when Nina didn't leave any messages Voicemail would ask her about it. Also, sticky notes! I remember that sometimes people would have a sticky notepad near the telephone, so that they can write whatever note while they were calling. I just think it would be cute if the Movers and Nina would leave sticky notes of reminders or just doodles on Voicemail.
I have thoughts on that one moment in "Power Play" S2 episode when Dave had multiple answering machines similarly colourful like Voicemail, but unfortunately I don't know how to articulate those thoughts into proper sentences lol.
Anyway that's uhh, probably most of my thoughts for now. Saving the more "shippy" thoughts for some other time because I don't know what to think LMAO. Also yeah these are thoughts on canon Voicemail. For human/robot Voicemail, it's kinda more straightforward in that it works at the Idea Warehouse and acts like a coworker that does their job well and gets along fine enough but also have those moments to be annoying for no reason hahah.
Thanks for reading this if you do make it to the end! I've just wanted to gush about Voicemail for a while lol I'm losing my mind over a telephone 👍

I remember a long time ago you mentioned you hadn't really had any ships in campaign 3, which was a little odd for you. I'm wondering if you ever found any relationships romantic or otherwise that you've liked or feel yourself coming around to liking?
I'm still pretty neutral on everything! Most of the dynamics I like aren't really romantic. I am a fan of most of the relationship dynamics from a non-romantic lens for the most part, but when it comes down to romance, there's still stuff missing for me to really feel connected to it. Which is still kind of shocking to me but that's where we are!

( @ryescapades ) CAVE EXPLORING — it’s time to venture deep into the caves with gen, but you have nothing to worry about! narumi’s the strongest- and he boasts about his exploration skills on top of his fighting skills. the one skill he hasn’t mentioned so far is how observant he is of how you’re feeling. “let me carry the ores,” he huffs, emptying your bag for the second time that night. when you give him a look, he ruffles your hair- earning a whine from you in response. “as if i’d let you carry all this,” he says, “let me do the carrying. and the mining. and the fighting.” you notice that he continues to glance over at you every couple seconds, as if worried you’ll get hurt if his attention shifts for any longer.

i hate how the "Laudna just lives to please Imogen" discourse absolutely removes agency and development from both characters, while also completely ignoring 30+ & 10+ years of trauma at the same time.
i don't have the rhetorical might to develop those points in written form, but when i see people saying, with all certainty, how them "don't work together", or how they should separate to "grow"... i die a little inside.
I want to give those people a chance, i hope they don't really believe that after analyzing a 2 year friendship, and 12 DAYS of a formal relationship IN THE MIDDLE of THE END OF THE WORLD is enough to pull those conclusions. But i don't know...
I've seen this same people seething about their relationship since the start of the campaign so... idk
Anyway i trust the players over everything. They are very aware of their character flaws and arcs (even if these people seem to forget that somehow?) so i know i'm in good hands.
But at the same time... ngl, that this keeps happening to the women characters, and to the sapphic relationships specifically, over and over again... it gets a little bit tiring.
