“So, you and Yamada…”

The words tumble out of Aizawa’s mouth like a sudden cough, unexpected and unable to be stopped. Kayama’s eyes turn to him and he immediately regrets speaking. The sparkle that comes to her eyes tells him he won’t enjoy this conversation.

“What about me and Hizashi?” she asks him, leaning forward. Her cheek settles onto her propped up hand and her mouth curls, foxlike, as she waits for him to continue.

Hizashi… she speaks his name so casually. So intimately. Aizawa doesn’t want to know, but he has to know. It frustrates him. Reason has nothing to do with his pursuit of this topic, and it leaves him feeling off balance.

“Are you…” he fumbles for a moment, trying not to sound like a teenager in search of silly relationship gossip, even though he feels quite close to that in this moment. “…seeing each other?”

Kayama lets the question sit between them, her eyes gleaming as they stare into his. Discomfort crawls under his skin and Aizawa bites back on his irritation. Very rarely can Kayama get him on the back foot, but when she does, he’s painfully reminded that she also dabbles in the underground, for all her theatrics and flamboyance. When she wants you to squirm, there’s little you can do but wriggle for her.

“If we were,” Kayama says slowly, her head tilting as if she’s peering even deeper into him, “it seems like you’d have some sort of opinion on that, hm?”

Aizawa nearly jolts at being called out so directly. He grits his teeth.

Present Mic and Midnight definitely have jammed out to ABBA together. Like? Dancing Queen and Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) ? They have definitely danced to those songs together, no one can tell me otherwise

Nemuri was the only one Hizashi ever really confided in.

Sometimes, very rarely, he’d go to her on a sleepless night, and she’d use her quirk to help him sleep. He’d rest his head on her lap while she’d quietly sip wine on the couch, Sushi the cat curled up against him.

Now she’s gone and the sleepless nights are much more lonely.
