I saw your notes on this post https://www.tumblr.com/moosethren/717347673558155264?source=share you reblogged and I fully agree with what you said in the notes. Firstly, I am very tired of the Star Wars trope of "man adopts child" (we see this in TCW with Ahsoka, Rebels with Ezra, Mando with Grogu, TBB with Omega, Kenobi with Leia, etc) and seeing how the TBB series' narrative is specifically made for the man adopt child trope hurts the series overall, in my opinion.

As you mentioned in your tags, Hunter has practically no personality aside from, literally, "Omega". People will say that his personality has changed due to the changing times and stress, but how he's shown and displayed in the show canon directly is having a personality designed for the main child character and nothing else. He had zero development and has changed absolutely none at all since TBB season one. His decisions are still made solely for the narrative (going back to Cid's for AZI solely because the writers needed to find a way to have them captured, even though they could have contacted Rex or found a medic literally anywhere else) and for Omega. I am doubtful we will see much development for Hunter that isn't revolving constantly around Omega in season three, let alone with the other men. All of the men are developed for her, rather than for themselves or for the sake of them being expanded upon, which completely shortens their purpose to just existing for the narrative and Omega - which none of them deserve.

I want more from the show than we will ever get, and seeing the TCW Bad Batch turning into "men who adopt children" and losing the joking, brotherly love they displayed in TCW. But that's just my thoughts on it, since I saw your tags and became intrigued to see someone else feeling a similar way as myself.

I still don't even know why AZI is with Cid in the first place, when they could have handed him over to Rex where he'd be useful. They went through all that trouble to save him in S1 (Omega nearly died, Crosshair had a huge thing of saving him and her) and then he ends up a frigging waiter droid at Cid's...

There's so many weird decisions/mistakes that TBB does just because of the honestly poor writing at this rate, cause they seem determined to yeah, have the narrative involve purely her. I don't know why the show isn't just called "Omega". And I get it, she's the person the audience/kids sees stuff through but come on... I expected to watch stuff about the Bad Batch and their relationships with each other, in a show called The Bad Batch. Now it's just a few men following this kid around and letting her decide everything and get them into trouble with no consequences.

(spoilers but I guess you've seen it all) Also because this is getting LONG.

Ever since the end of S2 my interest has plummeted because my fave character was offed after having had a 'full character arc with OMEGA' (since that's clearly all that matters), Hunter's only personality trait is being a 'dad' and I'm not interested in that either. Poor Wrecker has so much potential but it's squandered per usual and Echo's just kinda there, when he seems much happier being with Rex. Crosshair is my second fave but he's gonna be trapped with Omega which means his writing is going to go from really good to well, not that great.

What's worse, there's yet another media that is going towards the same trope atm and I'm frankly losing it. It seems like it's just me and one other who really dislike the trope (and you, which, yay, we're not alone 😂) I could go on about this for ages but I know it's a very unpopular opinion. But it's honestly ruining the show for me. And the trope, which I used to kinda like.

Imagine a show based on an adult sibling dynamic, which we're sorely lacking.

But again I'm the wrong audience for this and shouldn't have expected anything else, and at the moment I don't trust these writers anymore. (plus them killing off the autism rep sits really wrong with me.)

I want to like Omega (even if I'm not a big fan of child characters in the first place) but her writing and the show's direction makes it very difficult.

At the moment I'm re-writing the entire show without her in it and I'm honestly having much more fun making the Batch work together through this ordeal. Sure, I have a few OCs involved but they're not removing the Batch's claws as it were. But since the canon show is kinda just eh to me atm, that's my solution to it, so if anyone's upset about that well... they have a whole show out there to enjoy.

I'm glad for those who do like where the show is going and who love the trope 'cause they're being fed well, but the rest of us, well, some of us are getting salty and that's okay too.

I like to stay close to canon compliant, but it could be pre, during, or post! Honestly as long as they're together and happy.

I did want to add that I will enjoy smut, but I truly want these boyos to be in L.O.V.E. = LOVE. I'm such a sucker for a good story behind any smutty bits that may be included. Smut not required, story preferred. (BUT smut not discouraged AT ALL, I just prefer it to be a part of the bigger story. Set the stage, ya know?)

So excited to hear about Nesta!!! If and only if it works with your story I'd love to see the bat boys in there for 2 reasons:

I had to think about hard limits for a while because I don't have many, if you've delved into my AO3 bookmarks at all you'll see QUITE A RANGE LEMME TELL YOU. I'm typically not a fan of anything that straight up bashes characters, I truly see them all with faults, strengths, and weaknesses. As long as things/opinions are explained within a fic, I'm good with most of it. There are no individual characters I avoid or dislike. I'm not a fan of elriel (I'm mentioning this because it's one of the only things I typically scroll past but not sure it's at all applicable here?) If you're specifically asking about kink ranges, lemme know cuz they're WIDE AND VARIED. If there's anal there must be lubrication of some kind, that's a hard line for me.

As for my favorite color, I've got a lot of teal things, but I'm starting to tend more towards deeper, darker blue-greens and lots of forest greens.

Comfort movie? Oh gods...this question...I'm not sure that I have one. I literally had to go look at my streaming services because I haven't watched many movies recently. I also tend to rewatch TV shows more than movies d/t time constraints. I'm also such a mood watcher/reader/listener that this answer literally changes hourly. I'm a huge fan of Disney's Peter Pan (see: my Azris Peter Pan AU), Beauty and the Beast (OG animation), and Hercules. I don't think I could watch The Prince of Egypt enough in one lifetime. Anastasia is another favorite. I enjoy The Proposal a lot too. White Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie. I'm a huge sucker for movies like "Rush" that are retellings of actual events (and a big F1 fan).

Pride and Prejudice and The Holiday are both great movies that I really enjoy, but haven't watched in a while!!

Just seen Eternals for a second time and I just…LOVE THIS FILM!!

From the first second to the last, I enjoy every minute of it. I love the characters, the relationships, the dynamics, the visuals, the performances. It all connected with me and kept me invested throughout the long runtime. Never, in either showing, did I get bored or become aware of how long I’d been watching - which I did with Dune. Every character was given enough content for me to invest in them and understand them well enough throughout the plot - which isn’t an easy thing to do with a handful of characters - let alone 10. It was the one concern I had before seeing it - Will it balance the ensemble well enough? - and I honestly think it did. While I would obviously love to see more from them - I never felt like I didn’t get enough — which is a sign of success in my book.

Notes with spoilers and no order to them:

First off - Druig is my fave. I knew it from the moment he entered the screen and was very happy to see he didn’t become the villain and/or get killed off. That was a nice surprise - since that’s what always happens to the characters I decide I like. I will accept all the content about him - he is such an interesting character - even more so now I’ve watched it again. There is so much to say about him - though I can’t quite think up what that is in words yet - might have to wait for it’s full release. Though I will say one thing - and I saw someone else say this first and they were absolutely right - Druig isn’t grouchy/grumpy. He’s snarky and blunt about what he thinks/feels - but he’s not grumpy - I’d say Sprite actually fits that category better.

I obviously adore the relationship between Druig and Makkari - it may just be the best live action relationship I’ve ever seen - and I don’t usually get that invested in romantic stuff. I think it’s so compelling because they are using other forms of affection to show their love - like the forehead touches and hugging - rather than just kissing. It feels more refreshing to see other ways of showing affection - and not just in a romantic sense either - because there is so much more to love than just romantic. (I have no idea if that makes any sense). The same can be said about Dane and Sersi - they don’t just kiss each other to show they care for one another - I actually thought their most tender moments were when they embraced. I was definitely rooting for him over Ikaris.

Especially after this second viewing, I am super interested in the relationships Druig has with both Ikaris and Sersi - I wanna find some fic’s exploring those dynamics but haven’t spotted any yet. Druig and ikaris really come across as having that brotherly rivalry because they just can’t see eye to eye. While ikaris is totally focused on Ajak and her leadership, druig is seeing the people of whom he wishes to protect - thanks to his power, he can’t separate himself from their pain which makes him question the logic of their orders. It’s a tumultuous relationship which I wanna see more of - the line which sticks in my head when ikaris tries to kill druig is - “I should have done this five centuries ago.” There’s a lot that can be unpacked in that statement - as well as the impact the attack could have on druig as a survivor of ikaris’s wrath.

Then there’s the contrast of Druig and Sersi’s relationship - where she sees the light in him - has faith in him - even when others treat him like the worst. That’s always a beautiful dynamic to explore - especially with her sharing the connection she has with Druig’s biggest rival, Ikaris. Also I noticed this time in the film that druig is the one who realises Sersi’s strength and potential - before they even leave the Domo, he points out her defeat of the deviant, he knows she has the ability to do what needs to be done - she just doesn’t see it herself yet. When he says he’s “got this”, I think he knows he won’t succeed - especially with Ikaris still out there - but he can buy a bit of time for Sersi to realise the truth. He does go to help her instead or return to the fight - he shows the same faith she always showed in him. (I don’t know if any of that is true - but that’s the reading I got this time.)

Speaking of that moment with Druig in the final fight - while he does knock Sprite out with little remorse - and it is a pretty great moment - he never actually leave her the whole time she down. You can see he’s still there when they all connect to the Unimind and they return together to the beach - which I think shows how he’ll do what’s right to protect - but he still cares enough not to cross that line Ikaris does.

I haven’t seen anyone comment on this as of yet - but it made me love ^ that ^ Drukkari moment even more. Obviously this is a beautiful moment for Druig and Makkari, but the shot I particularly like is where Sprite is perfectly framed by the pair just before they break apart and exit the shot. (Below) The vision of Sprite watching them from afar - seeing the love Druig and Makkari have for one another - the love she has never been able to experience for herself - is truly heartbreaking. She is unable to see past the thing she is denied as it’s constantly plastered in her face by the people around her showing and receiving love. She is longing for connection yet can only find isolation. So in this shot of such compelling love and unity - which is now everywhere - there is such pain and loneliness which remains present but overlooked… like Sprite. It’s a great shot. Makkari is a FORCE! Obviously she was incredible when she fought Ikaris - but you can also see her strength in all the flashbacks too. Every time you’d see Ikaris fighting a Deviant - Makkari wouldn’t be far behind him - and she goes so fast it’s likely she was actually there before him too. She is truly amazing and not someone to mess with.

I really love Kingo and Sprites relationship - it really worked well. Their heart to hearts allowed us to see the vulnerable sides which they hide behind their respective attitudes - Kingo with his outspokenness and Sprite with her snark. They clearly bond the strongest with one another. One of their standout moments for me was in the Amazon fight, Kingo gets thrown through one of the shacks and Sprite refuses to leave him, she tries hiding them with an illusion and when that fails Kingo just throws himself over Sprite to protect her. It’s not a big moment - but I noticed it this time round and it’s stuck with me. I wanna see their adventures with Karun the valet - it’d be fun.

Also Karun is precious

Thena and Gilgamesh were also a perfect pairing - I love the shot of him taking her hand in the introductory fight - he has such respect for her and it set up their bond perfectly. Though I did expect him to get killed off - that’s usually what happens to the caretaker character - so while it hurt like hell - I wasn’t shocked.

Gilgamesh was so pure - the tough guy softy is the best character type - and it’s portrayed brilliantly with his learning about Ajak’s death. The pie falling is quite comical and you don’t know whether to laugh, but then he takes the pan and crumples it like paper and collapses into the chair overwhelmed with grief - you know this is a completely serious and heartbreaking moment - not to be laughed at.

A fun thing I didn’t pick up on the first time was that Druig is nearly always eating something in the scenes he’s in and I love that - it’s a nice little character trait.

The big question I still have though, is can Druig only control the minds of humans, or can he also control the minds of sentient beings - like Eternals and/or Deviants? Thena does say Gilgamesh asked him to put her to sleep once - but I can’t work out if that was just a joke or something he genuinely could do.

Anyway, I’m definitely missing things, but this has gotten really long so I’m gonna call it quits there. I love this film and it’s characters so much - which is something I haven’t felt in a while with an MCU film (certainly not at this level anyway). I mean I actually saw it a second time - which I haven’t done since Endgame - and y’know what, I wouldn’t say no to seeing it again. It was brilliant!

I've been getting into the reverse robins au lately, specifically the tim side of things (the angst is amazing) and since i usually go to you for batboy opinions: any thoughts on this? What do you think of Tim as Red Hood?

I'm not gonna lie, the reverse robin au is the one au I cannot stand in this fandom 💀 the second I see the tag I immediately click out of the fic and move on. I haven't dived too deep into it and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if I learned it wasn't so bad with the right take one it.

But I like the characters and their past all created who they are, changing it and the age order would effect so much of their personality, habits, etc. The RR AU pretends that doesn't really happen? Tim in Jason's position would just be Jason in a different font....if I wanted to read a character like that I'd just read a regular AU.

I understand the premise and I've talked to a mutual about this, it's about putting a character in a new environment to analyze them and see how they change and evolve. For me, it just feels redundant. They're changing into each other at that point.

I'd much rather see a fic exploring Tim going through a Lazarus Pit arc, triggering Jason's PTSD, and the brotherly bond of Jason fighting to get his little brother back because goddamnit he's grown. A fic like that showcases character development so well and would show a lot of Tim's insane manipulative potential.

Dicks whole arc is becoming the Big Brother™ and struggling to live up to that pressure, constantly crumbling behind the scenes, if he's now the youngest??? What then?

Damian's whole thing is coming in so young and demanding to be the heir yet no one taking him seriously because of his age. So now he has to fight tooth and nail to just feel worthy. If he's the oldest and leading heir, that changes a lot.

Suddenly these two completely different characters just swap names and have a little bit of their original personality, but otherwise they just mesh together. I like analyzing characters and anything that changes that isn't my fave.

But honestly, I'd love to hear any other opinions because I genuinely wanna know what I'm missing out on, it's such a huge AU and I wanna know why it's a crowd favorite. So feel free to debate me.

Outer Banks Character Opinions

Because I’m still on an Outer Banks high enjoy these character opinions:

John B: Oh John B, sweet John B, lost little John B. I have serious love for him after everything he’s lost but honestly I don’t really have any particularly strong opinions on him. The trust he puts into his friends and the love he has for them is beautiful. Sometimes it seems like he prioritises Sarah over The Pouges and he can be a little selfish and reckless but with so much on the line and with him only being 16/17 it’s understandable. I really enjoyed the chemistry between John B and Kiara and it seemed like we got all this sweet build up in the first 2 episodes for it to just be tossed aside in favour of John B/Sarah which just personally wasn't my cup of tea. I really hated when John B insinuated Kiara was jealous but I loved the interaction that followed between the two. Overall John B is likeable and damn hot and I just want happiness for him. 

Kiara: An actual angel. Kiara goes against the grain and despite the fact she has all the means and resources to be a Kook she knows she’s a Pouge at heart and places her own happiness above the expectations that others place on her, basically we stan a queen who prioritises self love. Not only that but Kie has ride or die level loyalty to her friends and I mean watching her constantly looking out for John B, not letting her parents influence her opinion on the boys and comforting JJ when she discovered how bad he had it with his dad, ugh be still my beating heart. The writers really did her wrong pairing her with Pope because she clearly had way more chemistry with John B and it seems like there were for sure some unresolved feelings there that just became collateral to the other storylines which is upsetting. She also had mad chemistry with JJ and it kind of felt like we were baited with their potential ship (Kie asking if John B told JJ about the kiss, JJ always talking about how he was attracted to Kie, Kie comforting JJ at his lowest, JJ telling John B they had to choose Kie, Kie sticking up for JJ in front of everyone at the club etc) and then the writers room last minute decided to switch her pairing to Pope who she had zero chemistry with. 

JJ: Sweet baby JJ. The season started with JJ being a bit of a reckless asshole but I feel like almost anyone that watched the full show would defend this sad boy to the death by seasons end. I know I said Kiara had ride or die level loyalty to her friends but I feel like JJ matches her on the same level. His friendship with each member of The Pouges is uniquely special but the way he pushes Pope to stand up for himself whilst also protecting him when shit gets real is just next level endearing. JJ truly sees The Pouges as his family because they’re the only ones he’s ever really had, it’s sad but it’s beautiful. The scene in the hot tub where JJ finally, after carrying this emotional burden with him for who know how long, broke down probably broke me more than any other in the whole 10 episodes, the fact it was Kiara’s arms that he broke down into just made my shipper heart beat a little beat. Plus Heyward and family embracing JJ at the end of the series was so soft and sweet. I think of all the characters I’m most excited to see where JJ’s future lies next season.

Pope: I liked Pope. I know it might not seem like it with how negatively I’ve talked about the Kei/Pope ship but I do like him. Pope is arguably, at least for me, one of the most relatable characters. His struggles with trying to balance having fun with his friends and be there for them whilst also protecting his future and not letting his dad down is maybe the most realistic aspect of this show. Pope’s brotherly bond with JJ is hands down the best friendship on the show. It would be remiss of me not to talk about Pope and Kei and it ultimately comes down to this, this relationship was sloppily put together with a combination of approximately 3 longing looks and a few hints of jealously and I know teenagers are emotional and unpredictable but how Pope can confess his ‘love’ for Kei after yelling at her one episode prior is just insane to me.  Like I mentioned in my other post, the casting for this show was superb and Pope is no exception, I have to believe there was no chemistry test between these two though because they had little chemistry and made no sense, a simple case of bad story telling.  

Sarah: From the moment we saw Sarah chasing off birds to protect mice I knew I was going to grow to love her. Sarah is complicated and endearing, her need to push people away is close to home and I really enjoyed seeing her relationship with Kiara develop back into somewhat of a friendship. Sarah and Kei running around the Crane house was my fave. Again I don’t really know if I like Sarah/John B, they just seemed to rushed to me and I really really didn’t enjoy the whole “I’d rather die than be without you” thing, considering these characters are meant to be 16/17 that really irritated me. I know a lot of people will disagree with me on that but yeah not my fave. I also don’t know how much I love Sarah being part of The Core 4 Pouge crew but I’m interested to see how that develops if we get another season.

Could Jason and Chris Kent have become friends? I know nothing about Chris or the comics from Jason's Robin era. I heard that Chris is the erased eldest son of Superman? I'm intrigued, but that means even the children of the biggest superheroes ever can be erased?

Ugh, I love Chris Kent and miss him (the pre-Flashpoint version of his character) a ton. And y’know, there are a couple ways you could manuever him and Jason into a friendship, though I don’t think they ever met in continuity. I don’t know how well they would have gotten along if you just went with the versions of the characters that both existed at approximately the same time, but they do actually have a decent amount in common, like with some tweaks it could work. Ironically, character wise they probably would have gotten along really well when Jason was Robin, but continuity wise, Chris didn’t even debut until after UTRH, though he rapidly aged from a young kid to a young adult after just a couple of years.

But lemme back up a bit because Chris is, umm, complicated.

SO. Christopher Kent was born Lor-Zod, the son of General Zod and Ursa, while they were held captive in the Phantom Zone. They were abusive asshats to him, and he’s not a fan. But for some reason which had to do with blah blah blah invasion plot blah blah, Zod made a spaceship from inside the Phantom Zone that he sent Chris to Earth in, because due to being born while in the Zone, Chris was actually able to take physical form, unlike the Kryptonians trapped there as a prison.

When Chris crashed on Earth, he was taken by a government agency aimed at monitoring extraterrestial ‘threats’ and treated as such. Cue Clark finding out that there was another Kryptonian on Earth, he was a kid, and he was being treated as a prisoner and it was like, See Clark Run. See Clark Mad. See Clark Raze The Department of Extraterrestial Affairs From The Earth With His Searing Hot Eyebeams Of Rage and Also Destruction.

And then Clark took Chris home to the Kent farm, and eventually he and Lois ended up adopting Chris and raising him as their own. Lois was the one who gave him his Earth name of Chris, which he’s always been shown to vastly prefer over his birth name just like he can’t stand his birth parents, as they are abusive asshats. He used to call Lois “Mama Lois.” It was adorable.

There’s a lot of back and forth about calling him Clark and Lois’ adopted son versus foster son, depending on various wikis and even issues, but its the same kinda thing that happens with all the Batkids at various points, and like, I remember issues that actually called Ma and Pa Kent Clark’s foster parents, so just do what I do and groan and sigh and accept that DC habitually employs writers and editors who just flat out don’t understand how fostering and adoption works. And its not that there’s anything wrong or lesser about fostering, and its absolutely the better way to go for some, its just foster son and adopted son are not remotely interchangeable, they are two different things, and DC has GOT to stop playing take-backsies with adoption, like just don’t do that, don’t make that a thing.

Anyway, for awhile it was Clark, Lois and Chris and they were quite happy together. Chris existed well before Jon Kent and they were never raised as Kents at the same time, unfortunately, and he did have some cute scenes with Conner, though this was mostly when Conner was characterized as seeing Clark more as an older brother and never really raised by him. (Similar to YJ-verse, but I have a lot of issues with that in YJ-verse because of HOW that played out, that I don’t have in pre-Flashpoint comics, where it felt a little more natural for Clark and Conner to have a brotherly relationship, mostly due to the fact that I don’t recall Conner ever expressing a want for the relationship to be otherwise in the comics, and having a strong bond with Ma and Pa Kent himself. I could be wrong here though as I skipped a lot of Conner’s writing when Geoff Johns is behind the wheel because I just....really miss 90s Kon-El who was practically a totally different character BUT I DIGRESS).

 But then because comics gotta comics, eventually Zod escaped from the Phantom Zone to fuck all that up, and invaded Earth because he’s like I’m Zod and invading Earth is like, my entire personality, its the only move I’ve got in the deck, what do you want from me. And Luthor eventually cooperated with the heroes to stop the invasion by configuring some sort of cosmic vaccuum cleaner to suck all the Kryptonians with a connection to the Phantom Zone back into the Phantom Zone, but then this didn’t seal the Zone up again once all the invaders were back in and Chris realized its because even though he was just born there, he was technically connected to the Zone too and it wouldn’t close up again as long as he was outside it. So he sacrificed himself to save his father (Clark took quite a beating from Zod in this) and the world and dove into the Phantom Zone, which sealed up behind him.

BUT he was saved at the last second (and without anyone else knowing for awhile) by someone named Thara. She was the security chief of Kandor, and she took Chris to protect him from the revenge of the Phantom Zoners who would have blamed him for their re-imprisonment. And off-page, during the years between Chris getting sacrificing himself to seal the Phantom Zone before his reapparance, Chris had a comic-book style growth spurt uncannily like the one Jon Kent got when Bendis started writing him, resulting in an uncannily similar dynamic between Chris and Clark and Lois when they reunited as Bendis wrote Jon having with Clark and Lois when they reunited. Why do I emphasize this, is it because I think Bendis is overhyped and I’ll never stop complaining about how all his biggest story beats are blatantly just recycled story beats from less well-known writers and characters, no that can’t be it, must be something else.

Anyway, Chris eventually returns to Earth, now a teenager, and now going by Nightwing while Thara went by Flamebird. This was around the time Bruce was lost in time and Dick was Batman, and there was never like, any crossover. Which sucked because Dick would’ve been fine with it as Chris had more of a claim to the name than even him (it wasn’t like with the Nightwings in the Ric Grayson arc, who became Nightwing BECAUSE of Dick’s persona, but rather that Chris and Thara were basing their personas purely on their own Kryptonian myths and what they represented to the Kandorians who were now living on Earth at the time. Totally different situation). But really it was just missed opportunities, IMO, as I think Chris and Dick also would have gotten along really well and their paths just never really crossed.

Somewhere in there Chris got another random growth spurt and ended up in his early 20s, he and Thara ended up in a relationship which was not my fave cuz of all the aging shenanigans but whatevs, Chris kept having random aging growth spurts which had Lois really worried about him and she tried to get the hero version of Dr. Light (Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi) to help him thinking maybe it had something to do with light or radiation, but they never really got around to trying to fix it because Lois’ douchebag dad General Lane showed up and tried to capture Chris, and he and Thara fled. And then they ran into Supergirl, who at first tried to kill Thara because she hated her because Kandorian Backstory I honestly do not remember, but then Chris revealed himself and was like Kara, its me, we’re cousins, and then they had adventures with Kara for a time, then there was this whole thing where Thara and Chris were both briefly possessed by and then merged with the actual Kryptonian gods/entities of Nightwing and Flamebird and then the entities left them and were like okay, we’re all done with whatever that was, as you were.

Chris thwarted his evil birth parents again, blew up some stuff, there was more Phantom Zone shenanigans and then General Lane and Lex Luthor turned the sun red to try and kill all Kryptonians, Thara fixed it by sacrificing herself, Chris tried to join her but then the Nightwing entity hijacked him and was like nope, and then not long after, Chris sacrificed himself again to push Zod back into the Phantom Zone AGAIN (seriously, it was like they were on a loop at this point, ugh) and he ended up in the Zone himself, but for real this time....and for some reason that turned him back into the age he should’ve been if he’d been aging normally this whole time, and the last we saw of Chris, he was like ten years old and in the Phantom Zone and being helped by Mon-El, and then the New 52 happened and rebooted everything and wherever that was going no longer mattered.

And then New 52 Lor-Zod showed up at one point as like, Zod’s loyal little son-minion, and DC has never shown a hint of intending to pursue an actual Chris Kent storyline in the New 52, and I hate that lots and lots because its like lol, this character was an abuse survivor in his original incarnation and you guys were like, lol no big deal, we’ll just make Zod the exact same asshat he’s always been but now this version of his son is just like him and likes it, why would that be a problem. WHATEVER.

Basically, New 52 Chris Kent doesn’t exist, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Which is a fucking shame, because Chris and Jon Kent as brothers being raised together WITHOUT ANY WEIRD AGING SHENANIGANS with their cousin once removed, Kara, and their older sorta brother sorta uncle Conner could have been like. So great.

So anyway. There’s LOTS of directions you can take Chris, and he’s really a great character. If you’re aiming to make him friends with Jason specifically, my go-to there would be to just have the events that led Chris to Earth originally just....happen a lot earlier in the continuity of your story. So have Chris arrive on Earth and be adopted by Clark and Lois roughly around the same time Jason steals the tires off the Bat-mobile, and you’re pretty much in business.

(BUT if you do go this route, keep in mind that Jason died before the Death of Superman storyline, which is where Kon-El debuted, so even if Kon/Conner’s still older than Chris here, Chris would already be an established part of Clark and Lois’ family by the time Kon-El arrives on the scene, which would change dynamics there, not just between Chris and Kon/Conner, but potentially between Kon/Conner and Clark and Lois as well).

OR you can keep Chris’ arrival as happening roughly when it did in canon (2006 was the year he debuted), and just have him do a little aging up, like, as a treat, and so be his older self when Jason returns and starts interacting with the cape community again, with their first interactions being when they’re both young adults who for completely different reasons missed out on large chunks of childhood. There’s some potentially interesting angles to explore there too.

Just depends on which way you want to go with that.

(PS, I think aging up is an overused trope most of the time in comics anyway, but its not so much aging Chris rapidly to a teenager and then young adult that I had an issue with, so much as doing it largely to put him in a relationship with someone who first met him when they were already an adult and he was ten. Its the initial age gap being an established part of the overall dynamic with an eventual love interest thats the issue, not that an age gap existed before two characters ever met - if for all other intents and purposes - their dynamic treats them as if they both were effectively always around the same age).

This may be hella predictable of me but I'd like the WWDITS movie for the fandom ask thing

the first character i ever fell in love with: well not love but honestly? the first time I watched the movie I liked Viago best. (Surprising for me, I know.) I liked Deacon a lot from the start but it took me a couple watches to fall for him.  a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: I don’t think I really have one?? Tell me more about your thoughts on the goodest dads — Thancred and Urianger.

I have sat on this one for a bit because maaaaaaaan…

You asked for it, under the cut.

All the way back in ARR, we have glimpses of Thancred poking at Urianger at times; over the linkpearl when Urianger is left to flustering ask what a woman looks like has to do with anything, and of course the scene when Moenbryda comes in and the teasing our fave librarian gets then.

On the more serious side, it’s Thancred who is certain to draw Urianger out and have him rejoin the group in the wake of event of “Soul Surrender.”

I have a fic series on Thancred’s friendship with Y’shtola, but now I wish I’d focused more on Thancred’s broship with Urianger (though I started following a really good series on Ao3 that is just that).

One of the things I adore about Shadowbringers is its focus on the Scions, particularly some of their interpersonal relationships. The Leveilleurs are at Peak Sibling Antics, and I would argue so are Thancred and Urianger, if in a different way than their younger colleagues.

Mileage may vary of course, and I encourage all those wearing shipper goggles–and have seen far more of what used to be a rarepair in fics in general. But I tend to read things platonically between the older Scions, for the most part (I ship Papalymo and Original Yda, cuz gods know that man’s head wasn’t on straight when he took over looking after Lyse and agreed to her own grief-stricken plan, but his relationship with her was very much taking care of a younger sister).

We know Thancred and Ryne visited Urianger often during the three years since Urianger got to the First and Thancred rescued kiddo from Eulmore. We know Urianger dotes on Ryne, giving her books and magical tutoring–and the comfort he wished Thancred would show the girl, when she needed it.

For the record, I don’t think Thancred was a terrible guardian–he’s the one she begs to stop Vauthry when that wrongness upsets all her senses, and Thancred’s still the person Ryne is most concerned about after the sin eater attack on Lakeland, and her major conflict the entire time is that she doesn’t know how he feels about her, sending her mixed signals where he approves of her (”that’s my girl” with headpat) and other times being upset–honestly, while his scolding her post-rescue was harsh, it came from an understandable place of upset on his part, too; she was almost taken back to Eulmore and he couldn’t have gotten her out again, and now Ran’jit was on their trail. Because she had a childish impulse fed by his own indecision.

But if he were actually cruel or abusive–and that’s not at all in Thancred’s nature–the more confident Ryne of post-MSQ wouldn’t put up with him. She also might have confided more to the WoL and other Scions–or Urianger would have picked it up. And likely, he nudged Thancred more than a few times over the last couple years, knowing exactly in what ways and how far he could push his friend.

Also, Thancred being a responsible guardian for Ryne gives Urianger room to be the teaser now, and I have loved every moment of him poking Thancred back, after years of putting up with rogue antics. It really felt good-natured-brotherly, the kind of teasing one can only do with a best friend one loves like a sibling. Y’shtola can be just a touch too sharp, and the twins are too young to really be on the same wavelengths–and have each other besides–so the older trio of Archons, who’ve known one another for well over 20 years now (since Urianger was a kid, really, and Y’shtola and Thancred teens themselves) have their own dynamic. But lemme tell ya, I have been the friend who remembers all the crap a buddy did while drunk, and Urianger’s ability to pinpoint specific names and moments to make Thancred squirm and cringe made me giggle. Because that is a thing best friends do outta love and a healthy amount of criticism without censoring.

Thancred obviously loved Ryne the entire time–even if Emet-Selch, ironically, was the only one to call it out. If Thancred could have kept both Minfilia and Ryne he would in a heartbeat, but his trepidation came from influencing Ryne the “wrong way”, and part of him maybe hoping for a miracle. Urianger, meanwhile, was plagued by guilt, being the instigator of Minfilia’s horrible predicament, as well as having to keep certain truths from his dearest friends for years on end. Part of his doting on Ryne may be finding ways to make up for what “he did” to Minfilia and how the child’s future might turn out.

There’s probably more but this ramble is already long and I should just write more fics about it, honestly.

I am looking forward to the next tier Eden for more exchanges like the one we got at the end of the last tier, where they compared what traits Ryne picked up from each of them over time–though in acknowledgment they may have to leave her behind when they go back to the Source.

My solution, of course, is to bring her along, but hey.

707: Which Mystic Messenger character is your favorite and do you have any headcanons for them?

YOOSUNG. I hesitated for a while between him, Jaehee and Vanderwood, but I after replaying his route I had to just admit it: Yoosung is the best and I love him. He’s the most relatable character to me and one of the best written characters and I just wish the main plot wouldn’t sidestep his involvement so much because he has so much potential if you just put him in there a bit more. (wtf was he even doing during Secret-Endings, come on)

As for headcanons… my main headcanon is that, in Secret Endings (a version where maybe things go a bit differently… aka he doesn’t suddenly stop caring about anything once Rika shows up and actually asks questions…) Jumin takes over the RFA after V’s death, but Yoosung trains under him to succeed him. I genuinely don’t think that Jumin WANTS to be the leader of the organization and only took the lead out of obligation, and I’m sure Yoosung has the interest, passion and drive to do it, he just needs the right guidance until he can take care of things himself. Also, though I don’t think it’s confirmed, the way things go between him and V in Yoosung’s route always gave me the impression that V was planning on giving rein to Yoosung soon now that they’d made up, so that he could focus on Mint Eye and Rika. Basically kind of a mix between SE and Yoosung’s route where Yoosung grows enough as a person and has enough dedication to take over. I think he’d honestly do a great job and change things for the better (and with actual good intentions unlike Rika).

(Also, it gives me the Jumin/Yoosung big brother/little brother dynamic I crave + a hint of V/Yoosung brotherly dynamic, so yay)

No seriously, I’m multi-shipper trash, unless it’s a big notp (aka Yoosung x Jumin, Yoosung x V, choicest or anything with Rika) you can draw me cute fanart of anything and I’ll give you the thumbs up. But my personal faves:

Yoosung x Zen (they were the first ship I got for this fandom and arguably my favourite, and oh boy did V’s route FEED ME)

Jaehee x Jumin (my second ship and one I stand behind the most; my only frustration is that it would either take them FOREVER to get together or a close-death experience. But both are good tropes)

Jaehee x Saeyoung (this started as a total crackship and now it’s one of my favourites, I have fic ideas for it, I need content of it, please give me more of my rarepair)

I remember feeling chills go up my spine in EP1 when he first appeared. Like holy crap. Lemme talk about this for a second.

You see Klaus talk to seemingly no one. Then he starts saying stuff like “we’re hungry”. Diego doesn’t even point it out.

And then what the hell, who the actual hell is that in the back-seat, what?

He’s quiet and dismissive, and Klaus can’t seem to get his attention.

Until he does.

And then you see who he is, AND THE SHOW SLAPS “(deceased)” ON YOU AND YOU GET EVEN MORE CHILLS. BECAUSE CRAP, THAT’S BEN, FROM THE STATUE.

I knew from that moment that whoever Ben was, I was going to like their arc. Going into episode two, I was expecting some dark-edgy theme, but then.

He sasses Klaus.

And I’m laughing now. I’m laughing because this is not what I expected at all, and they have such a good dynamic.

… But this isn’t the moment I knew Ben was my favorite.

With every episode I watched, my favorite changed. First it was Vanya, then Luther, then Klaus, Allison, Diego, then Klaus again. And I just spent a good amount of the show just not knowing who my favorite character was.

But the more of Ben we got to see, the more my love for him grew. I can’t pinpoint the exact moment he surpassed everyone else in the scale, but I do know that by the time that final scene in EP10 happened, I had no doubt Ben was my fave.

LOOK AT THIS THING. The moment he is manifested, the shock on his siblings’ faces, AND THE WAY HE AND KLAUS LOOK AT EACH OTHER IN THE END. OH MY GOD. I CRIED MY EYES OUT.

BEN HARGREEVES IS MY COMFORT-CHARACTER.

His friendship with Klaus is a huge reason why I love him so much. They have such a great dynamic, okay?

They don’t need to put on an act around each other. The whole point is that they need and love one another. Honestly, with the rapidly increasing amount of romantic relatonships in the media, it was so nice to see some platonic-brotherly love. 

I guess it’s because after seeing the overall image of his character, it hit home. Yes, he had ten lines. But he manages to do so much with them.

Everyone seems to love him, even though they do not know him. He’s a memory. He’s not the main subject of a conversation, but once he is brought up, everyone has an opinion (usually positive) about him, but they don’t know he’s there.

He’s eager to talk to those he loves, but he literally can’t. He has one close friend and has no shame whatsoever around him. It’s his comfort zone.

He’s that one friend that’s always there for you, and doesn’t leave your side even though they know you’re wrong. He’s encouraging, sassy, and you will absolutely manage to piss him off, but will he leave? No. He will not.

… I could talk hours about this, but it’s already a long post. I’ve never related to a character so much before, and I just love Ben so much.

TL;DR: Yes, it was the “WHEEE” scene.

A Most Holy Man is on. Knowing what we know now about Chuck, everything has a different significance. Genuine believers on this show now seem like suckers. That priest praying, and they guys meeting up with him. It was all just Chuck fucking with them. Of course, the writers back in season 13 were very very likely not thinking at all about how season 14 was going to end, but it does put a different spin on things.

I dont know any more about s15 than anyone does, but one thing I do know... is we dont know everything thats going on. I for one havent written Chuck of as a bad guy bastard. No, hes not as cool as he used to be and there are probably reasons for that. I mean easy enough, he might be salty at the Winchesters for knowing everything they do and still not trusting him? Or maybe the fact that he’s no longer separated from Amara that theyre kind of cancelling each other out? Who knows? I know none of us know how a season is going to go before it starts. 

Now I dont see genuine believers being suckers. Not in real life nor in the show. In both cases (Im really sorry if I get sounding preachy, Im honestly trying not to) We (believers) know there is predestination, and also free will.  Like, here is what God wants and will happen, and we (people) make choices throughout our lives to follow what we are supposed to do vs what we want to do.  God’s path or our own, and they can run side by side and not get too far away from each other, or really go in opposing directions and ultimately it’s up to us. Okay... That’s what it feels like to me is happening with the boys. Chuck pretty much told them that, if they want to fight Leviathans or BMOL fine, but when it comes to such things as these (the Apocolypse and such) he has to step in. I believe they bros will reconcile with God by the end of the series. It doesnt make any sense to me to have a show that is a constant battle of good vs evil to make good literally non-existant. I dont think a show that focuses on the love of 2 brothers is also gonna be known as the show that made God evil and the heroes killed him, or made Satan the good guy.

Now Chuck isnt getting a free pass from me... no way... he’s not being straight with the boys and not really giving them answers. Theyve had the harshest lives ever and I REALLY hope he rewards them greatly for their hard work and suffering.  We do have Jareds words that if the show ends the way its planned, the Winchesters will have at least a little more peace than what they're starting the season with.

I watched the episode too, one of my faves from s13. The boys are SO brotherly and Sam is just so adorably cranky LOL, I like Father Luca, kinda wish hed come back and give them some support.

BTS Members as the Sons of Feanor

OH MY GOSH WHAT THE HECK

so @thelonelybrilliance just showed up late to the Silmarillion and new to BTS and she decided to break my brain by tagging me and @abadpoetwithdreams asking us if we could match up the 7 members of BTS with the 7 sons of Feanor. May she never ask such a question again because I have spent about 6 hours total writing this rant essay that is somewhere of abouts 3500 words. I don’t have the self-control to stop myself from things like this, I love Tolkien and BTS too much

anyway here is a very long and rambling post that was partially composed in my head in the shower and is now just stream of consciousness

(Disclaimer: The members of BTS are beautiful souls and this post is in no way saying that they are as murderous as my problematic faves the sons of Feanor)

ok so the only thing I know for ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN is that Namjoon is Maedhros. if you know anything at all about BTS and the Feanorians, the reasons are obvious:

1. Namjoon is the tallest, and Maedhros is literally called Maedhros the Tall.

2. Maedhros has a lot of names but he was called Maitimo by his mom which means “beautiful” or “well-shaped one” and such an appellation is perfect for Namjoon (ok let’s be real the name could fit every single member of BTS but whatever)

3. (and most important!) never was there a more harried elf trying to keep his brothers in line and alive and not cut to pieces by some justifiably insulted cousin or Sindarin. Maedhros is the mom, the dad, the king, the leader, the eldest bro. “Guys, can we NOT be rude to the sons of Finarfin, can we NOT start a war among the Noldor when we still have Morgoth just across the way” I’m pretty sure he would also lose his passport multiple times if Middle-earth had such things, because his brothers are hard enough to keep track of. while Namjoon may not be the eldest in years, everything else matches up too perfectly. He is the leader of BTS, the spokesman, the one who encourages the other members to step up and speak, helps them with their English (even when he judges them for their dumb mistakes lol), is literally SO DONE with his bros all the time but loves them so freaking much. He is the planner, the peace-maker, yet also has fire in his veins and has seen a lot of darkness and suffering and survived to become even stronger. So too with Namjoon

(caveat: if BTS were Feanorians, and Namjoon captured by Morgoth himself, there is no freaking way they wouldn’t have done SOMETHING to rescue their fearless leader. Jin and Jungkook would storm Thangorodrim fists swinging, followed by Jimin and J-Hope, fierce like you’ve never seen them, and Taehyung would Luthien Tinuviel Morgoth centuries early, or Yoongi would simply glare at Morgoth till he shrank down into a puddle of trembling goo. Don’t laugh at me you know I’m right)

moving on

I have maybe two choices for Maglor? One is Jin, but that might partially be because everyone always talks about how Namjoon and Jin are the mom and dad or dad and mom of BTS. and Maglor is always paired in my head with Maedhros as the other parental figure of the Feanorian bros, though that might be because of how he and Maedhros look after Elrond and Elros. Of course, I love Jin’s singing and I will never ever ever be over “Epiphany”, so I am way cool with making Jin Maglor as far as the music thing goes

All this said, I am not sure if this is the best fit overall. Jin is the King of Chaos in BTS, and I wouldn’t name Maglor as such...also I think I might have another Feanorian for Jin, but I’ll get to that later (spoilers, it’s...Curufin??!) (oh no, I just realized I might have one other argument for Jin being Maglor: “I use other people to make myself happy. I make myself smile by making others smile.” Like, that could be a good quote for Maglor potentially, if you want to relate it to his music, or his care for Elrond and Elros……..but I’m still thinking Curufin for Jin. Stay tuned)

So anyway my other option for Maglor would be...oh heck no I have two other options. No wait THREE. What the HECK. ok let me figure this out. The options are J-Hope, Yoongi, and Jimin. I’m not even sure why yet so let’s find out. (sidenote: if Maedhros did not exist Namjoon the song-writer would be Maglor, as the greatest poet and bard)

1.  J-Hope as Maglor: I don’t know, I had reasons but they are escaping me. Maglor is said to have had a gentler temperament than his brothers and I would say J-Hope has a very soft sunshine heart. I guess one thing is that Maglor was left to hold everybody together when Maedhros was captured by Morgoth, and if Namjoon was ever hung on a cliff for an indeterminate amount of time or whatever equals that in our world, J-Hope would step up. I keep seeing things about how he supports the other members when they are having tough times, giving them encouragement and food and love. He leads them in practicing dance choreography all the time, and if I remember I am pretty sure Namjoon actually stated that Hoseok would make a good group leader. 

Also one time Namjoon was talking about Hobi (oh shoot, should J-Hope of the many names be Maedhros of the many names? Lol maybe in that one universe where Namjoon is Maglor, then Hobi could could be Maedhros) Namjoon says that J-Hope is like water (where did Maglor toss his Silmaril again hmm?) and puts people at ease. Well idk about other people but Maglor seems to have put Elrond and Elros at ease because even after that whole Kinslaying thing “love grew between them as little might be thought.” I too would probably come to love J-Hope no matter the past between us. He is just that sweet and soft-hearted

2.  Yoongi as Maglor: ok honestly I really really actually want Yoongi for Caranthir, more on that later. However I also like Yoongi as Maglor because it is unexpected, yet certain things just feel right. I keep thinking about Yoongi’s “First Love” where he raps about how his PIANO was his first love (GOSH ISN’T THAT THE SWEETEST THING EVER) also in Lee Sora’s “Song Request” he raps this: “I’m happiness to someone and the soul to another / A lullaby to someone and at times a noise / I’ll be with you at your birth and your end / Remember we’re always together anywhere / I’ll always console your life / So just lean on me and rest sometimes” and LOOK I JUST DIED TYPING THIS but what I am getting at is music is burnt into Yoongi’s soul as I think it is Maglor’s, and Yoongi really is very soft and loving and also one time Namjoon said that Yoongi “makes me ponder about what kind of person I am” and Maglor several times is a voice of reason and very much tries to dissuade Maedhros from going after the Silmarils one last time. Idk it could work (but also...CARANTHIR) (BUT ALSO OMG YOONGI’S VOICE MURDERS ME WHEN HE RAPS AND HIS PASSION WOW AND NOW I AM PICTURING MODERN DAY MAGLOR RAPPING  OBLIQUELY ABOUT HIS FAMILY AND PAST AND PAIN UGGGGGGGHHHH

3.  Who was my other choice? Right, Jimin. Why did I say Jimin?? ? i don’t remember, dang it

Ok I think it is definitely time to do Caranthir.

As previously stated, I love Yoongi as Caranthir. I have my reasons personally I think they are very good reasons :D Ok Caranthir is WOW ok I am OFFENDED because I just went to double-check something on wikipedia and I typed Caranthir into the Google search engine and the first three results were all about this Caranthir dude from the Witcher, and while that game seems very interesting I am UPSET for Yoongi’s I mean Caranthir the Dark’s sake.

Caranthir the Dark. What a name. I mean it might just be a reference to his father-name of Morifinwe and to his hair, but he is also described as being the harshest and quickest to anger. Yoongi, bless his soul and his actually very soft and squishy heart, is well known for: being unbothered by BTS general antics, for being the one to sit back and watch everyone else do dumb stuff (like when they were all dancing to MIC drop and he just walks away from them, or when they are all acting like kids jumping in the pool and he just watches with a smile on his face while drinking a glass of wine and look to me Caranthir is the one Feanorian who doesn’t pair up with anyone in particular, like we have Maedhros and Maglor, Celegorm and Curufin, Amrod and Amras, but Caranthir is the one who goes off and lives separate from them and

GOSH now I sound so dumb because I am NOT trying to say that Caranthir doesn’t love his bros or that Yoongi is a loner that is NOT what I am saying, agh I mean Caranthir is great (minus, you know, the kin-slayings the Feanorians sadly fall into) and even befriends Haleth’s people and protects them, t’s just this weird categorizing thing in my head, that Caranthir is the crusty brother, and while he loves his bros to DEATH and they him, the majority of his bros are sliiiiightly afraid of him, in a brotherly way, like how the members are with Yoongi! Like just recently oh what was it, they were on a BTS Run episode and someone had to splash or otherwise give Yoongi a penalty and right away everyone was like NAMJOON YOU DO IT. turning to the leader hyung because they don’t want Yoongi to be mad at them

Of course now I am remembering that one post of gifs demonstrating how Jungkook is the only one who can bother Yoongi without dying lol except NOW I am picturing Amrod the youngest Feanorian* being the only one who can bother Caranthir and then the ensuing PAIN because Amrod Umbarto (thanks for THAT name, Mom) perishes (in certain canon) in flames at the Burning of the Ships and wowwww no I do not need any of this pain

*SIDENOTE: AMROD IS THE YOUNGEST IN CERTAIN CANON WHICH CONFUSES THINGS A HECK OF A LOT SEE THE AMROD AND AMRAS SECTION BELOW

I’m pretty sure I have never rambled so much in my life and also pretty sure I have way too many parentheses and not all of them are closed oops

Anyway, imagine Caranthir as the brother you are afraid of but would die for and who would die for you if anyone looks at you wrong, the brother with the wry acerbic wit, but who LITERALLY LIGHTS UP THE UNIVERSE WITH HIS SMILE AND ALSO DOESN’T EXPRESS HIS LOVE ALOUD AS OFTEN AS SOME OF YOUR BROTHERS DO BUT

HE SECRETLY LOVES PHYSICAL CONTACT AT TIMES AND ALSO SECRETLY LOVES PIGGY-BACK RIDES EVEN THO HE PROFESSES TO HATE THEM AND GIVES OUT WISE LIFE ADVICE TO HIS BROS AND HIS PEOPLE AND IS SUCH A SOFTIE FOR HIS BROS AND OCCASIONALLY SENDS ONE OF HIS BABY BROS LONG LETTERS WITH A SIMPLE “I LOVE YOU” AT THE END THAT HAS CELEGORM OR AMROD CRYING FOR TEN MINUTES (HAHAHA GUESS WHO I THINK TAEHYUNG WOULD BE)

Also someone has to be the best cook of the Feanorians and it might as well be Caranthir

….apparently I’m not done with Caranthir, because “the Dark” also makes me think of a dark horse, or at least something happening that is unexpected, and that reminds me of that interview where dad/mom/interpreter Namjoon was like yeah none of the other members can speak English, and then Yoongi just out of NOWHERE speaks a line of great English and Namjoon was like ….guess I was wrong

I do not have very clear thoughts about who the rest of the members are so let’s just go with my brain and hope it makes some good connections

Let’s do Celegorm since I just mentioned him

Celegorm could be either Taehyung or….Jin? :? Merrr idk. Let’s examine

I think the main reason why I jump at the option of Tae for Celegorm is because of Tae’s love for his dog Yeontan, or Tan, and of course Celegorm is the master of Huan, and they had a very special relationship for ages until Celegorm f---ed up. Seriously, you want to see something cute? Look up Tae’s Vlive that is entirely focused on his lil pupper (what am I saying look up ANYTHING about Tae and you will find something cute)

On the other hand Jin could be Celegorm because Celegorm is known as the Fair and if you don’t know by now that Jin is World Wide Handsome I don’t know how I can help you

OMG WAIT I JUST THOUGHT OF OTHER REASONS WHY JIN COULD BE CELEGORM! So Celegorm’s father-name is Turcafinwë, which basically means “strong in body” and Jin has got those broad shoulders (gosh they are so broad). Also, Celegorm’s mother-name is Tyelkormo, or “hasty riser,” referring to his quick temper and habit of leaping when angered. And this doesn’t perfectly relate but the amount of times I have seen Jin yelling or just being wild in general or even just pretending to be mad makes me think of this. Also there was one time idk what was even going on but Jin was struggling to pronounce Bangtansonyeon-dan (SAME) and saying it was too long and difficult and J-Hope was teasing him and Namjoon told him not to get mad since he had been calling himself a fairy and shouldn’t be mad as such, and Jin was like hey I can be a mad fairy if I want lol

See now I am just confused because now I am looking back at Jin as Maglor and I might like that better? WHY IS THIS SO HARD

Speaking of Jin, and Celegorm, why on EARTH was I thinking of Jin for Curufin? Ugggh see my problem is I ran out of time last night and so I am finishing the essay some 20 hours later and I kNOW that when I was saying Jin should be Curufin I had a better reason then their names rhyme. Heck, I could make that same argument for Jimin as Curufin.

Except I also have a second and better argument for Jimin as Curufin, at least under the circumstance where Taehyung is Celegorm. Look, all the BTS members are really close with each other, and you can literally argue all day about who is closer to who (a really pointless waste of time in my opinion I mean why argue when you can just melt over them all being sweet and funny and kind and teasing with each other) but anyway all that aside one thing I love in particular is how sweet Jimin and Taehyung often are with each other, holding hands and comforting each other and being on teams in competitions *starts laughing at the memory of them being complete disasters that one cooking show* and anyway Celegorm and Curufin seem pretty inseparable, running around causing all kinds of trouble (guys sTOP). Jimin and Taehyung have called themselves soulmates, so it makes sense to have them be part of a duo

Not that Taehyung would engage in a kidnapping stunt like Celegorm did, but the point is, Jimin, the precious bby, has Tae’s back

Jimin: “Taehyung is the happiest when he is with me” aww

This has nothing to do with the point of this post but I just need to stop here and say that Jimin is so freaking talented I was just looking up some gifsets of him and obviously his singing is angelic but also OMGGG his dancing!!!

Ok, jumping back slightly, I guess one way Jin could be Curufin is if Jungkook is Celegorm, because I could see those beautiful dorks running around causing all kinds of trouble, except I really have no reason to have Jungkook be Celegorm, especially since he is very much Amras in my head for reasons

OOOH NO I also thought of a way in which Jungkook could be--wait for it--cURUFIN. WHY AM I LIKE THIS

You see, Curufin was his dad’s favorite son and thus Feanor gave his favorite son the exact same father-name Feanor had, Curufinwë, and Curufin is the only son who chose to use his father-name over his mother-name if I recall, and anyway all meaning he probably loved his dad a lot and was proud of his name, and this makes me think of how Namjoon gave Jungkook the title of the Golden Maknae and of how freaking much Jungkook looks up to and respects Namjoon (look while Namjoon is a hyung, he is also a dad figure, so he may as well be Feanor and Maedhros both)

I guess if Jungkook were Curufin, Jin could go back to being Celegorm

Aaaaggggh you do not know how much hair I have pulled out this is taking a lot of brainwork

FINALLY AT THE LAST TWO

We now present my exceedingly confused ramblings regarding the twins Amrod and Amras. Before we begin, let me SHAKE MY FIST AT TOLKIEN FOR MAKING THIS ESSAY EVEN MORE CONFUSING TO WRITE

See, I had Jungkook all set up in my head as Amras, the youngest son according to the Silmarillion. Jungkook is the maknae, the baby, and all the members DOTE on him and he loves them and respects them and pesters them and it’s great, so yeah Jungkook has to be Amras the baby of the Feanorians. I would then put Taehyung as Amrod, the just barely older bby who the other members also adore and protect. Jungkook and Taehyung are SO FREAKING CUTE whenever they are doing stuff together, whether it is singing or hugging or holding each other on their backs while they singing. When they goof off together or pester each other, they are the most precious, must dorkiest dorks to ever be my faves. Hence why I pair them together in my head as Amrod and Amras, at least the times when I am not pairing Tae with Jimin or Jungkook with Jin. Amrad and Amras seem as inseparable as Celegorm and Curufin, and they go off and live in some beautiful wild part of the land and basically stick to hunting and staying out of everyone’s business until they get reminded they took a stupid oath

EXCEPT then Tolkien has one alternate writing where the youngest is actually AMROD and Amrod dies at the burning of the ships because Feanor doesn’t know how to count his kids I guess (Namjoon you lost something again) (sorry that is a terrible joke) (but is it made slightly better by the fact that while Namjoon is apparently Feanor he is much more Maedhros, who was against the burning of the ships and did not participate?) so like this is where I started to get my third headache (exacerbated by the fact that I haven’t eaten dinner yet and it is 9 pm what is wrong with me) because then I have to make Jungkook Amrod and Taehyung Amras. It’s such a trial having to write both their names next to both Feanorians

On the other hand, an interesting thing to think about is that in this alternate writing, Amras was so aggrieved by his brother’s death that he called out Feanor--Feanor!--for being so dumb as to A. call or let his wife call their youngest by the name of Umbarto (the Fated) and then to B. accidentally let him perish in a fire that FEANOR started because he had a grudge (and I think Tolkien wrote that that Amrod was possibly sleeping on the ships because he was upset with Feanor for the terrible deeds he was committing, so like, double way to go Feanor)

I am really tired and hungry my head hurts

What am I missing?

I like Taehyung and Jungkook best for Amrod and Amras a lot BUT if I were doing one of the other options above, I could see having the follow lineup:

Jin=Celegorm, Jungkook= Curufin, Jimin=Amrod, Taehyung=Amras

In this instance, I could see Jimin and Tae as either Amrod or Amras no matter which one is older. Taehyung could definitely be the bby and do his own thing but could also be the brother who mourns his brother and calls out Feanor. Actually though Jimin while being young and precious gives me more of an older brother vibe than Taehyung does, so I guess I would have Jimin be the elder of the twins. Yes, that makes more sense

UGH but wait if I put Jimin and Tae as Curufin and Celegorm, I could put Jungkook back as youngest bby Amrod or Amras, but would Jin fit into the older twin role? Maaaaybe, if you just think about Jungkook and Jin heading off by themselves and goofing off...I don’t like it as much though
