The Media Make's Money Off of Fear

MTV sucks. This is my unequivocal opinion. Whatever happened to the music in Music Television? The channel has Succumbed to the virus known as "reality television". In the few instances that it remembers that it is a music channel, only the poppiest of pop songs is played. In the late 90's that would've meant Backstreet Boys, N 'Sync, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera played back to back to back. Now, it's nothing but R&B. The only time that MTV becomes interesting again is at midnight, during the VH1 and Nights shows. It is during these two hours that I get to see videos from any genres but pop.

Five (?) years ago, Myx came on the air, promising to give viewers "only music". And for about a year, it did live up to its tagline. Ninety percent of the time, it showed videos from different shades of the musical spectrum. It got its viewers to face to fact that there is a whole world outside of the "Top 20" territory. It led me to expand my already relatively extensive choices in music. Most of all, the station didn't bother too much about having VJs that knew more about staying cute than music. But just like any other good thing in life, Myx got the boot. The great, wise bosses of the station decided to kill it and resurrect it using the genes of MTV. Thus, nowadays, "Myx" is nothing more than a jologs photocopy of MTV.
