Overall Impressions and Analysis
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I was skeptical at first, being someone who could honestly care less about sports. What was particularly powerful about this movie was its ability to draw in the audience in and form an emotional bond with the characters. I think that the reason this could happen was because most people can relate to being in high school and being passionate about something. That is all you need connect with this movie.

Narrator
The Heart Of The Game was narrated by Ludacris. This was most likely a marketing strategy to raise awareness for this documentary. Ludacris was a good narrator. Not necessarily an extremely talented or exciting narrator, but I hardly noticed that he was there. His narration fit seamlessly into the story line. Something that I thought was interesting is how, for me, another narrator emerged. Coach Bill Resler acted as an on screen narrator as he explained a lot of the action and backstories to what was going on. He also provided an inside view of the teams emotions.

Major Characters
Coach Bill Resler: Bill Resler was the driving force of this movie. It appears that this movie was originally going to be a documentary focused on solely him. Resler moves the plot of the movie along and almost acts as an informal narrator within the story. Resler’s character is appealing to the audience because of his passion for what he does and his care about the team.
Darnellia Russell: Darnelllia is, in the end the most central character in this documentary. Darnelllia is not in the first part of this movie because it starts when she has not yet entered high school. Once in high school Darnelllia causes a lot of conflict. What makes Darnelllia appealing, I think, is the mounted controversy surrounding her. As audiences we like to watch exciting things, and Darnelllia is definitely exciting.
