The mantra from the Bhagavad Geeta for Protection - Gita Trishtup Mantra

We know bhagavad Geeta teaches us the best way of life.  It gives us solutions  to different problems of life.  It teaches us ways to connect with Supreme reality  ( The GOD) through karma ( action) , gyana ( wisdom)  and bhakti ( devotion) 

Do you know there is a mantra which is derived from Bhagavat Geeta and is chanted from protection from all kinds of negative and evil forces? 

 Do you know the seer ( rishi) of that mantra is Arjuna himself who is the friend  and disciple of the Supreme lord.

When arjuna envisioned the divine vision of vishvaroopa. ( realizing the whole world as the body of the Supreme God) 

He prayed to that lord with a shloka in trishtup metre , lord vishnu in his universal form (vishvaroopa) is to be meditated while chanting this mantra.

It is the thirty sixth shloka of chapter 11 of bhagavad Geeta.

अर्जुन उवाच | स्थाने हृषीकेश तव प्रकीर्त्या जगत्प्रहृष्यत्यनुरज्यते च | रक्षांसि भीतानि दिशो द्रवन्ति सर्वे नमस्यन्ति च सिद्धसङ्घा: || 36||

arjuna uvācha sthāne hṛiṣhīkeśha tava prakīrtyā jagat prahṛiṣhyaty anurajyate cha rakṣhānsi bhītāni diśho dravanti sarve namasyanti cha siddha-saṅghāḥ

O hṛiṣhīkeśha - the lord of the senses, indeed (it is obvious)  that by the virtue of your glory ( singing your glory)  , the whole world becomes happy and pleased, it enjoys and rejoices, the evil and negative forces scatter to various directions, frightened!, all the accomplished yogis and gloups of ascetics and renounced bow to you in respect and devotion.

This mantra is chanted for protection. it is used in combination with the twelve syllable vasudeva mantra and six syllable sudarshana mantra in rituals of protection by the devotees of of lord vishnu.

the nyasa for the mantra is

arjuna rushih, trishtup chandah vishvaroopadharo vishnurdevataa
