The College Girl's Guide to Midterms

With the semester being half way done… College students are prepping for midterms. Midterms are exams that test the knowledge of what students have gain in the semester so far. Once you receive your midterms grades it informs you on whether or not you should be improving your habits in the class or continue in the same flow your already in. 

     Like most students studying in general is hard to do especially with the stress of excelling on your midterms. If you are like some people who haven’t been paying attention in your classes till now its not to late to receive a passing grade in the class. Studying is KEY on doing well on your midterms.

5 Tips On Studying for Midterms

Make a midterm schedule

Map out when each midterm is scheduled

Speak Up

Ask your professor for help if you’re not understanding the material

Your professor is not a mind reader, find courage to ask for help. Nothing is wrong with asking for help.

Form a study group

Make flashcards

Exchange each other notes

Turn off your cellphone

Our cellphones are a big distraction with incoming calls and texts

Social media is another one

GET REST

This is the most important tip it is imperative for you to get your sleep.

Without a goodnights rest it will be hard for you to be able to focus.

Hot Reads: The College Girl's Guide On Popular Books To Read For 2018

I don't know about you, but I love reading a good book now and then. Actually, reading was and still is, the reason why I love to write today.  Every college girl should have at least one good book in their bag as they walk around campus. Not only is it fundamental, but it can be  enticing as well. Just being lost in a different world and seeing someone else's through their eyes, can be a very good thing. Everyone wants that chance to escape somewhere, why not escape in a really good book? Here are some books to jot down on your reading list for 2018!

Flight Season- Marie Marquardt

When they knew each other as  strangers. TJ Carvalho witnessed the only moment in Vivi Flannigan's life when she lost control entirely. Now, TJ can't seem to erase that moment from his mind, no matter how hard he tries. Vivi doesn't remember any of it, but she's determined to leave it far behind. And she will.

This Will Be My Undoing- Morgan Jerkins

Jerkin's book is truly a standout must read. She writes about black female sexuality, to sailor moon, or what it means to date a man who "doesn't see color". Her insight help pave new roads in a reader's mind. She tackles a pushing question: What does it mean to be a black woman in the world today?. Still Me- JoJo Moyes

Now if you ever read the book , "Me, Before You" byJojo Moyes, or if you've only seen the movie (like I did) then you can agree how utterly romantic, yet sad it was. If you were that girl to just see the movie version, you have got to take some time to read the trilogy of this series. The book follows Louisa Clarke to New York City to start a new life. She's confident that she can embrace this new adventure and keep her relationship with Ambulance Sam alive, across several thousand miles. Follow Louisa on this journey, as she goes through trials and tribulations, especially dealing with the upper class of New York's high society, and a possible love triangle? So You Want To Talk About Race- Ijeoma Oluo

In this breakout book, Ijeoma Oluo explores the complex reality of today's racial landscape, from white privilege and police brutality, to systemic discrimination and the Black Lives Matter movement. A Message to the Class of 2018 #TheCollegeGirl

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2018 from SIMPSTYLE! The end of the journey is here and its time to start a new chapter in your life. All the stress, struggles, and obstacles you have faced are finally over! From freshmen year to now the road is over and its time to celebrate YOU DID IT! You earned your degree. Now that graduation is over, it probably does not feel real yet that you're done with school. Well for some, you may be going to get your masters, go to law school or medical school. But the best part right now is to unwind and enjoy your summer.

This summer should be your guide to help you achieve what the next steps of the next chapter of your life should encounter. Making goals for yourself is beneficial. Can start off with making a summer goal list or make a monthly goal list.

The list can include a job search, internships, and vacations.

Goals help people stay on track and let them realize on what is important and meaningful for them to achieve. 

You maybe even want to make your list to be on a more personal level.  As either making a goal list on to better yourself. It can be trying to go to bed earlier, drink more water, wake up before noon every day, go to the gym, speak to family members more etc. 

#Collegegirl's use this summer to your advantage making as many memories as possible, don't let a day go by without focusing on your future and career in life.
