#SpiritualSunday: #CorpusChristi Sunday (The Feast of Corpus Christi) The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin: Dies Sanctissimi Corporis et Sanguinis Domini Iesu Christi, lit. 'Day of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ the Lord'), also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, is a Christian liturgical solemnity celebrating the Real Presence of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ in the elements of the Eucharist; it is observed by the Roman Catholic Church, in addition to certain Western Orthodox, Lutheran, and Anglican churches. Two months earlier, the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper is observed on Maundy Thursday in a sombre atmosphere leading to Good Friday. The liturgy on that day also commemorates Christ's washing of the disciples' feet, the institution of the priesthood, and the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. The feast of Corpus Christi was proposed by Saint Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church, to Pope Urban IV, in order to create a feast focused solely on the Holy Eucharist, emphasizing the joy of the Eucharist being the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. At the end of Holy Mass, there is often a procession of the Blessed Sacrament, generally displayed in a monstrance. The procession is followed by the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. A notable Eucharistic procession is that presided over by the Pope each year in Rome, where it begins at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran and passes to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, where it concludes with the aforementioned Benediction. Most people have the natural concept that God is great with glory, honor, and majesty, that He is far above the earth, and that man is a creature who must worship and serve Him respectfully. Although this concept is good, it is a natural human concept; it is not the divine thought. The natural concept is far from God’s intention and is unacceptable to God, because it is not God’s heart’s desire for man. In Genesis God created the heavens and the earth in five days, and He created man on the sixth day. Then He put man in the garden of Eden. The word Eden means pleasure. According to the natural thought, after putting man in the garden of Eden, God should have demanded that man bow down and worship Him. When religion speaks of God, worship and service are involved. But the first thing that the Bible reveals concerning God’s relationship with man is not man worshipping God but God putting man in a garden in front of a tree near a flowing river. God did not speak of having a desire for man to worship and serve Him or for man to do something. What the Bible reveals is completely different from the religious concept. God put man in front of the tree of life with a river next to it. This indicates that man was to eat the fruit of the tree of life and drink of the river. Hence, man’s first responsibility before God is to have a proper attitude toward the tree of life and the river of water of life. Man’s condition before God depends upon how man deals with the tree of life and the river of water of life. #1 Ephesians

Tim and I are starting a new study in the Book of Ephesians.  This is going to be slow and probably a little redundant at times but is necessary for our learning in how to be the church and not just be affiliated with a “church” denomination.

C. I. Scofield said, “In Paul’s writings alone we have the doctrine, position, walk, and destiny of the church.”  In other words, if you took Paul’s epistles out of the Bible you would not find the doctrine for the Body of Christ or the revelation of the mystery of Christ at all, and Ephesians on its own is the greatest revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.  

Once we learn the doctrine of our salvation from the book of Romans, Ephesians will help us to learn our position in Christ, the purpose of the Body of Christ, and practice of our walk in Christ as we minister to others as the church.

The first three chapters of Ephesians describe our riches in Christ dealing with doctrine and the last three chapters describe our responsibility in Christ dealing with our behavior.

It was said of Ephesians that the great subject of this book is the mystery of the revelation of Christ, referred to in Romans 16:25 which had been kept secret since the world began, not made known to the sons of men, hidden in God, never revealed in scripture until  communicated to the Apostle Paul by Christ himself.  This mystery, the church and Jesus Christ as the head, is a heavenly body separate and altogether different from the earthly kingdom which was promised to Israel and will dwell on the earth forever.

EXPERIENCING UNITY 📖 Ephesians 4:1–10 is Paul's compelling description of Christian unity. Every saved believer, regardless of talent or skill, Jew or Gentile, male or female, is saved by the same faith in the same God. Each Christian, therefore, is part of a single, universal family of believers in Jesus Christ. At the same time, God gives different gifts to different people, so that they can serve the many roles needed to accomplish His purposes here on earth. Rather than being concerned about what gifts we might lack, each Christian can rejoice in our unity, and focus on serving God to the best of our ability. Truly understanding saving grace, as Paul explained in prior chapters, is the Christian's first motivation for living a godly life. Here, Paul encourages believers to live in way which honors that gift. In which all saved Christians are part of a single, unified family, part of the ''body'' of Christ. At the same time, different believers are given different talents. Some are called to positions of leadership and authority. All Christians should turn away from the ''old self'' we were prior to being saved.
