Sonic Sophistication: Crafted Production and Collaborations
One of the album’s strengths lies in its polished production. Collaborating with industry peers, Bnxn delivers tracks like “Pidgin & English” and “Sweet Tea” with finesse. The meticulous engineering ensures a seamless fusion of beats and emotions, creating a cohesive listening experience. While these tracks may not redefine musical boundaries, they certainly exemplify Bnxn’s attention to sonic detail.
Exploring Familiar Themes: Love, Loss, and Personal Struggles
‘Sincerely Benson’ explores themes that are commonplace in the music industry—love, loss, and personal growth. While Bnxn handles these themes with sincerity, there is a lack of innovative perspective. In “Regret,” featuring 2Baba, Bnxn addresses personal responsibility in relationships, a theme explored by many artists before him. Similarly, “Pidgin & English” delves into the complexities of love but fails to offer a fresh take on the subject matter.
Conclusion: A Step Towards Depth in Afrobeats
‘Sincerely Benson’ is a step in the right direction for Bnxn and for Afrobeats in general. While it may not shatter existing molds, it does contribute to the genre’s gradual evolution. Bnxn’s commitment to injecting substance into his music is commendable, even though the execution falls short of groundbreaking. The album’s strength lies in its subtlety, appealing to listeners seeking a familiar yet refined Afrobeats experience.
In essence, ‘Sincerely Benson’ is a testament to Bnxn’s growth as an artist and his willingness to navigate the realms of depth within Afrobeats. While it may not be a game-changer, it is undoubtedly a noteworthy chapter in his musical journey, marking a subtle shift in the dynamics of the genre.

Nigerian rapper/singer Olamide, full name Olamide Adedeji, is back with his second album for 2020; the first being 999 and his 11th studio album, Carpe diem since 2011, both have been released with the help of EMPIRE distribution, a joint venture deal he announced early this year via his twitter. Being relevant in the music industry for as long as Olamide has shown, has plenty to do with knowing how to reach your listeners both new and old. As an artist whose music has largely been based in Nigeria, even smaller – Lagos, ‘energy’ is one thing that is mostly peculiar and evident in Olamide’s projects. Both 2020 projects have shown Olamide loose that ‘energy’ to the way his music is engineered. Working with producers and music executives outside Nigeria has allowed Olaminde and his crew to give more attention to not just his lyrics but his audio engineering. Olamide uses his latest 12 track album, Carpe diem, to extend his reach across the borders of Nigeria with the help of his prodigy, Fireboy DML and other notable features. The album whose tracks were mostly produced by P.Prime offers a ‘vibeful’ 38 minutes; which gives the album that important replay value in todays’ streaming atmosphere. If the album is to be very successful it would be largely as a result of his features, producers and his willingness to reach a larger gathering of fans around the world. If not on first listen or placed in relation to his other projects, this album may not become viral READ FULL ARTICLE AT LINK IN BIO @olamide @fireboydml @pprimeofficial @ybnlmafiafamily @ybnl_natoin #ybnl #olamide #afropop #rap #rapmusic #nigerianoap #nigerianmusic #sound #audiomack #boomplay #billboard #coolfmlagos #thebeatfm #hotfm #music #musiclovers #musik #beats #beatsproduers https://www.instagram.com/p/CGj160wj4GX/?igshid=722ahsxocvnc

THE THEME The album is a blend of different topics with love music taking the lead. Normally this set of topic sentence makes the project scattered. But the lyricism and delivery is professional and cool. Darey who is majorly a Ballad and Folk music maker had to allow himself express himself in popular Afropop Alternate sound. In the first song titled “Wild West”, he sings about the scarcity of true love. Setting the tune of the music in a groovy beat, he tells his lover that it was hard for him to find love with her because gifts like her are scarce. He uses the song to proclaim his love for her siting the fact that his heart have been broken by so many ladies. The song is a good curtain raiser for any album. The position of the song on the playlist is decisive because it allows people who do not really know Darey to be stuck with the EP. “Jah Guide Me” is a song which have already been released as a single. In this song he sings about skipping all the traps of the enemy and making his mark in life. He pleads with God to help him defeat his obstacles and hindrance. This plea he makes to God is to show people who are waiting to see his downfall, that he serves God and his son Jesus. The song which is made with pure Afrobeats is dominated with the shekere, congas and horn instruments.  The world has been experiencing one of the most unstable years in recent history. 2020 has been that year most people will like to forget in a hurry because of the negative issues. This year has seen nations go after each other as in the case of the United States of America and Iran. It has seen racism at the highest order. It has seen police brutality and finally the mother of them all “Corona Virus”. In situations like this we all have been taken unaware and the natural nature of human which is survival is often activated. What this entails is that our love capacity is often reduced and replaced with hate and anxiety. What David Guettta creates with the multiple award winner Sia is just what the world needs. Let’s love is a song that reminds everyone to love. Although the song is a romantic love music, the ending part of the chorus which is used as the intro has a definite message for the world. It tells the world to love and show up for each other to be able to break the obstacle that come their way. The song which is not the usual David Guetta song that is dominated with lots of EDM and rock music element is a mid tempo disco song that could have two effects at the same time. The song can make one sit down and mediate on the lyrics or can make one dance to the disco sound. It might not sell a lot of records but the message behind the song is a classic one. The song is an unusual song because although it was produced with two verse, the lyrics of the first and second verse are the same. Although it can be regarded as laziness on the part of Sia and David Guetta, the truth is that the song does not need much. Sia has sang over ten global hit songs which makes writing two verses, a bridge and hook for a song child’s play. But this song does not need many words to make it thick. Songs like this are used for conventions and rallies. The African musical black diamond released an EP over the weekend and after listening to the high RnB influenced Afropop project; one cannot help but wonder how Wande Coal lost his place. Some months back Wizkids tweeted a single from Wande and stated that “we rise by lifting others”. The problem a follower of Wande Coal’s music from his Bumper to Bumper days will be having is wondering why Wizkid has to be rising a once shine black Diamond like Wande. The way Wande fell in terms of popularity after his defection from Mavin Records is somewhat painful. Wande Coal was one of those artist that had a very raw talent that could not be questioned and he proved it again in this EP. One can easily blame it on his investment in promotion firms or the lack of PR firms in giving him good service. However his fall from the popular circle and not enjoying same popularity like he did in the mid-2000s is really disappointing. His lyrics are captivating, his delivery is dope and the way he glides with the beat is just something that normally everybody is supposed to get crazy about. The seven track extended play project has some of the best songs when one is rating EP. This EP could comfortably compete with Omah Lay’s Get Layd EP. His originality to his fuji music influenced Afropop is dope as can be heard in the Pheelz produced “Naughty girl”. Furthermore his RnB influence in “Again” is also applaud-able. THE THEME The songs in the album are built around the struggles of a woman trying to stay afloat in life. Katy Perry uses her pop, Electronic dance music and RnB songs to tell different life stories. The first song in the album is titled “Never really over”. The song talks about a relationship that she has with her ex-lover. According to her they have spent two years apart and kissed goodbye. But to her surprise it has been two years and they still exchange text. Although she claimed the relationship was a total mess, she admits that it was the best relationship she ever had. She finishes off by declaring that she needs therapy to help her get over loving her ex. According to her the relationship she thought was over was not really over. “Teary Eyes” is a song that motivate people who are heartbroken because of an emotional issues. She tells them to dance and forget their story. She admonishes them to keep dancing with the teary eyes because they will soon overcome that heart break and move on. In another motivation song titled “Resilient”, she uses her life and some very dope poetry to tell people that she is resilient. In one of her soul soaking words, she tells tell people that just like a plant, people tried to poison the water that she uses to water herself. She claimed that they also built a wall over her so that she does not see the sunlight. But declares that because she is resilient that she broke through from the cracks on the wall and made it. “Not the End of the World” is a motivational song for the failing and one hindered by life circumstances. She tell everyone going through a rough patch that what they are facing is not the end of the world but a rout to better life. In 2019 when Patoranking released his Wilmer album, it was clear he lacked the understanding of what it means to release an album. The album was filled with songs that could have been hit songs if they were released as separate projects. That affected the album because songs like “Lege lege” and the spoken poetry in the album was a total miss. It could turn off the energy of any listener. Also the album concealed Patoranking’s area of strength which was dance hall Reggae genre. There was all types of genre in that album and that affected listeners because they did not know the man they were listening to. In this album titled “Three”, Patoranking went back to the drawing board and it is evident in the twelve songs on the project. The sound mood of the album was the same from the start to finish. Although the lyrical theme different for some songs, he made more of love songs. If this album does better than Wilmer, one will not be surprised by it exploits. The reason for the above assumption is: Patoranking kept his sound simple and close to the reggae tune. Even when the beat is not a Jamaican influenced sound, he uses the Jamaican influenced vocals to deliver his vocal. Working with some of the best hands in Africa from Sauti Sol, Flavour, to Tiwa Savage, Patoranking was very careful in putting round pegs in round hole. The album is a real proper Nigerian/African project which could go place. Although it may just saturate in Africa, the album is definitely a total upgrade from Wilmer Album. If well promoted, at least five songs could become international songs. Tiwa Savage and her new album can not be criticized negatively by anybody. Usually I don’t start a review with such a very good sentence. But the Afrobeats queen from Nigeria made me do so. Normally when an album is released, what we at cillacritic lookout for is the first the message, the second thing we look out for is the unity in sound. Before we look at the vibe. In this album, there are songs that passes some real message of women acting and reacting to love. In terms of unity in sound, Tiwa Savage made an album of sounds from Nigeria which are Afropop and Afrobeats. She did not switch her sound to soul, EDM, pop, RnB or Hiphop. She stayed with either the ponpon beat, alt sound, or the Fela Afrobeats sound. She kept her sound clean and true to herself. In terms of Vibe, from when she started releasing the singles from Attention, Dangerous Love to Temptations, it was clear that Tiwa had the album which could compete with Ceeza Milli’s Diamond in the Rough album. Every song was a banga or a Gbedu like Nigerians will call it. This album is her best big project since she became a force in the Nigerian grown sound. I sincerely wish she can promote this album the way it should be. In an album of twelve tracks, she has not less than six hit songs which is epic. Her work with Cracker Fallom, Lonond(LDN), Black Jezzy, Speroach and some other new age producers in Nigeria really payed off. Her intelligent features which includes Samsmith, Stefflon Don, Davido, Naira Marley, Hamzaa and Dice Ailes was just paid off. They seemed to blend with her energy and that is rare to have. This album is her blessing, I sincerely wish it has the kind of airplay and international promotion it will need to be appreciated globally @tiwasavage @davidoofficial @samsmith @londonbeats #tiwasavage #tiwasavagefans #afropop #afrobeats #nigerianmusic #africanmusic #lagosmusic #lagos #diceailies #blackjezzy #crackerbeats #coolfmlagos #thebeatfm #hotfm #jam #sound #africanwomen #lovemusic #love #album #12tracks #world https://www.instagram.com/p/CEkHm8tgYe7/?igshid=1msbu0v7pq74p

THE MESSAGE The song is about the way rappers claim to be tough guys dissing their selves. They pretend to suck up all the verbal punches they throw in diss track in public but go back home to cry. Drake uses this song to tell the world that many of this rappers who diss each other and laugh in public often go home and cry later. Because they are human, they tend to always keep a straight face in public but when they get home, they digest the bad words and many a time, they cry. Drake Laugh now Cry later Review The song opens up with Drake taking the chorus. He refers to these haters who diss him as ladies. Addressing them as ladies he states sometimes they cry and laugh. He tells her to slow down the fight against him. In a switch of event he claims that after being mouthy like a lady that he and his crew went to visit the lady but found out that her hood was deserted like a ghost town. Because they were scared of what he (Drake) and his team were planning to do. The first verse has Drake ask where are all this people who think they can diss anybody and go free. Stating that he is not usually paid enough to react or reply to people who beef him. Throwing shots at a rapper who he does not really like who maybe probably dissed him, he declares that he cannot even listen to that in a club. He claims that anytime he as to reply anybody then it has to be his victory lap because they are not worth the waste of bars. He talks about people claiming he snapped at the club but which was not because he see them attack him. Miley is a free bird and this song she made speaks the mind of many ladies who broke up with their lovers because of excessive protection. Around the world today, there are many women who are in romantic and marriage relationships where they feel caged. There are ladies who feel like they are not achieving their potentials because of their relationships. Miley and her producers have just released a record for people in those relationships or are already out of those unhealthy relationships. The song is a pop song with a lot of groove in it and can easily become anybody’s new best song. A really good pop jam from her this time. THE MESSAGE Miley Cyrus uses the song to tell a lover of hers who who she just broke up with that she is a free woman. She opens up the song by telling a short story of how their break up started. She claimed that she and her lover where out partying and it was getting late into midnight. According to her, her lover told her to be going home not noticing that she was really having a good time. Detailing how long she has been without catching such fun in a long time, she claimed that he has always stopped her indirectly from catching fun because they are always together. She finishes up by claiming that it was under that midnight sky that she took her freedom. In the chorus, she declares that she was born to run and be free. She adds that she does not belong to any one including her lover. She claims that she could fight the devil with the fire (motivation) in her lungs. She declares that she does not need to be loved by her lover. In other words she is not at the mercy of her lover’s love and care. She finishes off the chorus by claiming that she only lives for the moment with zero care about the future. Hence she does not need to be loved by him. THE THEME The six track EP is made of song of different topic sentence. The first song on the EP has Terry make a call on his fan and supporter to rep him by shouting “Halle”. The song which is titled “Halle” is used to appreciate long standing fans of his craft. Stating that he has always been on his own grind in the industry, he claims to have been kept by the grace of God. He claims that many people do not mess with him because they could end up with gunshots for cheap issues. Finishing up the song, he claims that he is not in any competition with anybody for spots. Hence he is grateful to God and his fans. He promises that he will never disappoint his fans who believe in his music and craft. Majorbangz fuses Afropop to Hiphop to create a beat and a song titled “Feeling fly”. Terry Apala talks about feeling fly and partying to the roof. He raps about being rich and hustling hard to make money. Furthermore he claims that it is only when one is rich that one knows whether he/she is a born again Christian or not. Talking about his designer cloths, rich meals and luxury cars, he brags about not being moved by situation because he is mad rich. “Maruwa” is a song that talks about the love that exist between most tricycle riders and their wives. Maruwa is the term used to qualify commercial tricycles in Nigeria. It is usually rode by people living in the slums of Lagos and are relatively poor. Apala uses the song to celebrate the kind of love that exist between love birds in those slum. He marvels at the way they find themselves in such poor state but find a way to make love happen. He talks about some being homeless but still fall in love and start a family-all from the proceeds of daily transporting of passengers in their tricycle. He raps about how kids are raised in this poor state but turn out good. He marvels at the type of bond that could make people still love in such bad living situations. And tags it Maruwa love. Nasty C Palm trees Review African Rap is a niche that is not really explored by many people because of the ever popular Afropop sound. That is why when a Rapper like Nasty C get recognition by the rap community in America, it is seen as a win for the Africa. Nasty C unlike other African MCs like Sarkodie, MI, Ice Prince and a host of others tapped into his hit season to build a very strong international base. It is true that he was favored by the musical landscape in recent times because of the ease in social networking and sales of music. But the work done underground by Nasty and his advisers cannot be over emphasized. They kept his sound pure and built bridges between Africa and America. Nasty C is relatively known in Atlanta Georgia. And when it comes to Hiphop music, Atlanta is like the hub of Rap music. In this song titled “Palm trees”, Nasty C does not rap about something special. His message is the same like what other rappers in the world do. Normally songs like these are not supposed to become international hits but because it is Nasty C, it has to become a hit.  This song will have a very limited play in Africa because of the sound and the lack of original message. The song is not bad for hiphop but lacks that street credibility to become a classic.
