REVIEW: The Atomic Bitchwax - Scorpio 🦂 🎸 • Wenn man es nicht wüsste, könnte man es kaum glauben... aber es ist wahr.... 1992! In diesem Jahr formierte sich „The Atomic Bitchwax“, um ihren Sound aus Space-, Psychedelic Rock und Proto-Metal zu verbreiten. Seitdem beglückt die Band ihre Fans regelmäßig mit neuen Alben und ausgedehnten Touren (über 1500 Shows😳). Da sollte man doch meinen, dass so langsam der Lack von der Gitarre platzt und einem die Ideen aus gehen. Falsch gedacht. Auf ihrem 9ten Studio Album klingen die Jungs aus New Jersey genauso frisch, wie eine Newcomer Band, die gerade durchstartet. Fetter Sound, treibende Riffs und lässige Refrains sind auf „Scorpio“ Standard und genauso sexy und gefährlich, wie das Cover Artwork. Hört euch das Gitarren-Solo auf Super Sonic an und ihr wisst was ich meine. Was einem auffällt, dass die ursprüngliche Psychedelic/Space Einflüsse und die damit verbundenen ruhigen Parts der Band verschwunden sind und sich nun auf das Wesentliche konzentriert wird... ordentlich abrocken! Manchmal hat man das Gefühl als ob man ein neues Foo Fighters Album hört. Ähnelt sich Chris Kosnik's Stimme an manchen Stellen doch sehr der Klangfarbe von Dave Grohl (checkt mal den Song "Scorpio" und "Super Sonic"). Was mir persönlich gut gefällt. Mit 37 Minuten liegt das Album wohl im Genre-Durchschnitt und der Hörer bekommt auf 10 Songs die geballte Energy von "The Atomic Bitchwax" zu spüren. ACHTUNG! #nerdattack „The Atomic Bitchwax“ war ursprünglich ein Nebenprojekt von drei Mitgliedern der Band Monster Magnet. Dieses entwickelt sich für Zwei davon als neue Hauptband.
