My mom was videocalling me, telling me about wanting to make copies of some of her tarot cards, and was doing a list of stuff she needed to print them.

At some point she was like: Ugh, I'll have to buy special paper, like, 300grs, so I can print them.

Me, being my helpful self: hold on, I'll check something.

*proceeds to grab 8 different notebooks*

My mom: ... *starts cackling hysterically*

Me: what?

She: Oh my god- how can you own so many kind of sheets??? Why would you need one of 300grs?!?! You truly have your own art supply store!

Me: first things first: it's for the watercolors, the others are for the pencils, markers and pastels, gouache-

*My mom continued to lose her shit*

Me, ignoring her: -and most of them are not as thick as the watercolors ones, but works just as well, plus I have some other over there-

*she laughed again when I show her the corner of the printing paper I own*

Me: -I can't remember how thick they are, but they did the trick well enough in college in the printing press.

WIP Wednesday

Thanks for the tag @scribbledquillz! I am still easing back in to writing after my burnout/hiatus, but here is what I've been working over the past few weeks instead c:

The next step on the Fenris scarf is to draw all the tattoos onto the black section with silver Sharpie and then embroider over them. The bottom image is my test piece to make sure this kind of embroidery is something I can do (ignore the variety of stitch types; I wanted to pick one that showed up pretty well and didn't look too messy if I had to turn the work a lot; the one around the border is what it will all look like when done). I found a really really cool yarn to do the embroidered sections with and I'm excited to share that piece when it's all done (but expect it to be a few weeks, because embroidery will take a lot longer than crocheting this did).

I'm pretty happy with it so far! I like the way the favor section turned out and I learned a new stitch for the gauntlet/shoulder bits, which also came out pretty cool. I will take proper, pretty pictures when it's all finished, just like I did with the Cullen scarf, but I didn't have access to the dress form today for this set (so you can enjoy a little section of my library and the pretty table my husband made instead haha).

My nerd is showing! I finished the main story of pokemon scarlet last weekend and I loved Grusha's scarf so I decided to try and make one for myself 😍 Picked up some bulky acrylic Saturday, and started throwing this together 😁 No pattern for this part but I plan on looking up patterns for the pokeball part. Yarn is Premier Serenity in Wine (its more red in person), and Lion Hometown in San Diego Navy. I also bought another Lion Hometown in New York White to the other 1/2 of the pokeball when I get that far.

I was actually thinking about it because he has some knitted sweater he was wearing in the latest pictures, and it's such a cute thought and he looks so adorable 🥺 (although I personally dislike this color but I mean... he would look good even in a potato sack)

But omg you're right, I'm literally trying to google Baekhyun in scarves and all I'm seeing is some random shawls, nothing knitted. SO HE BETTER KEEPS HIS WORD THIS WINTER RIGHT???????

fiber arts really is such an insane category of Things in how it can draw you in. like, 6 or 7 years ago i learnt to crochet and made a few terrible hats and scarves. then i learnt to knit because i wanted to knit a scarf for my friend (now fiance :D). then i realized it should be a woven scarf so i picked up weaving instead, but i still really liked knitting so now i was doing 3 crafts. somewhere along the way i started dyeing yarn as part of my kitchen experiments, and then i was like fuck it i wanna make my own yarn ! and that is where the problems happened. in the span of like 5 years ive acquired like $2000 of various tools (spinning wheel, combs, cards, blending board, several looms, etc), bought dozens of fleeces, and now my bedroom is basically a craft room with a bed, i have wool covering every flat surface in there as well as a huge dresser full of wool and several large drawers full of wool, i meticulously scrape every last bit of avocado out of the peel so i can use it to dye fleece, and i don’t go anywhere (including in my own house) without at least 2 knitting projects and a spindle.

im not complaining or anything, but the rapid shift from ‘guy who does stuff, idk’ to ‘guy who is worryingly obsessed with wool and will infodump at length about medieval sheep husbandry and the history of nettle as a textile if you give him half a chance’ is like. extremely funny to me.
