she shares a name with one of the furies whose role was to avenge by cursing mortals with madness. this is alecto! she bears hundreds of grudges, she has the messiest meanest breakups, she is merciless & cruel to hogwarts students when they misbehave. unceasing anger and unimaginable vanity!

So I’ve watched Christmas Carol Goes Wrong a bunch. And I’ve always just understood and accepted the fact that Sir Derek Jacobi is a famous British actor that I just don’t know because I’m American. And I never had thought to look him up because I just assumed I didn’t know who he was because I didn’t really recognize him.

I just rewatched Nanny McPhee (one of my all time childhood favorite movies) and he’s in it. I didn’t even realize until the credits started and I saw his name. He’s one of Colin Firth’s gay mortician bosses. I just sat and stared at the credits for a good five minutes trying to figure out why I didn’t figure that out before

my parents are away on a little vacation for a couple days and it’s making me realize that a lot of my going-to-bed routine actually depends in little ways on them being home, and them not being home is throwing me all out of wack. like. saying goodnight to them before going upstairs, hearing the murmur of the tv still being on while i brush my teeth, hearing my dad laugh at something that’s happening in the show he’s watching as i lay down in bed, hearing the key turn in the lock as my mom locks the front door for the night. but they’re not here rn and so there’s something missing in the routine and now i’m standing here in front of the sink unable to make myself go to my room to put my pyjamas on bc i just had to turn the lights off downstairs and there is no noise coming from the living room
