Quote
If you use good ingredients, and you don't take any shortcuts, then you can usually cook something very good. Sometimes it is the only worthwhile product you can salvage from a day; what you make to eat. With writing, I find, you can have all the right ingredients, give plenty of time and care, and still get nothing. Also true of love. Cooking, therefore, can keep a person who tries hard sane.

The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel all alone.
—Robin Williams
You... spineless, feces smelling, subhuman pieces of shit. Now, I get why Robin Williams was suddenly trending during the same time that the Team Z/Harvey Weinstein Network was spamming all of those threats against Benedict, and it had happened before. It wasn't to rub it in, about Williams' depression, or SUPPOSED depression. It was because Robin was murdered.
This man was a TREASURE to millions, including myself; demons be damned. He was beautiful, inside AND out. He sold your fucking Muppets, your loveable space aliens, that pedo, Walt Whitman. He even had one of the earliest films to feature a Trans Identified Male.
Still not good enough, eh? I'm livid enough, right now, to want to do all of you some serious fucking damage.

I know fuck all about One Piece (other than there’s waaaaaay too much of it for me to care), so anytime I see something about “Garp” on my dash, I’m picturing Robin Williams in The World According to Garp (1982) and it’s making things a lot funnier.

Sip hears this question and lowers his head, and Lambeaux is conspicuously silent, which means that Tristan has been eaten by the admiral. To be the cabin boy of an unrepentant cannibal is to lie on a platter. Lambeaux sinks into his shoulders. "I need a woman," he says, which is enough to draw a mermaid's attention away from The World According to Garp. "Will you come into the water, sailor?" she sings cooly up to him in gargled, unmoored English, only picking the fish bones from her breasts as an afterthought. "Madam," Lambeaux hollers down at her, "not even if you had a proper quim and were floating in a tub of beef bourguignon."

I was too scared to read Stephen King as a kid (like, literally my first time reading Stephen King was the summer between high school and college, when I read the novella/short-story anthology Stephen King Goes to the Movies, which is not even a particularly scary collection), but honestly a lot of the YA/middle-grade horror I read from ages seven to seventeen fucked me up way more (in a good way) than he ever managed. Maybe that was a function of age, but my suspicion is that Stephen King is actually just too nice most of the time.
#the funny thing is that it was my mom who was like oh you shouldn't read stephen king that stuff is too messed up#lady you were over the moon when i read john irving in third grade#you bought me the joy luck club and are you there god it's me margaret on the same barnes and noble trip#we went to edward mckay's and you were like oh the world according to garp you should read this emily#all the pat conroy#stephen king is not more disturbing than all of them just because sometimes there's a shape-shifting clown monster
