Just to be clear, my issue with people is not that some dislike Strange New Worlds, or the Witcher. But I do think some people take canon too seriously. And often times even misunderstand canon to the point of it being their subjective interpretation of it.
Like, the issues I've seen spouted with these two shows are hardly ever objective and when they are... it's just really not that big of a deal... like, you don't have to dedicate your life to something you dislike. Maybe this is just cause I grew up with comic books, but... it's just really not worth your time to complain about something as trivial as shows.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag, @andordean
Tagging @room-on-broom @cassiopeiasara @tiffanyachings @nellectronic and whomever else wants to do it!
1. How many works do you have on A03?
Ninety five.
2. What's your total A03 word count?
1,840,502 (and counting...)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently? The Witcher. I do have a few other WIPs for other fandoms but we'll see if they ever see the light of day. Previous fandoms include The Worst Witch 2019, Criminal Minds, plus a few one-shots in a few other fandoms. But those are the big ones.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Pearl Diving (hells yeah the Lesbians win again), A Night with the Queen, Veiled Truths, Chaos Thy Name is Circe, Survival Skills.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Almost always...mainly because I feel extremely guilty if I don't (so if you have ever commented and didn't get a reply in return, don't worry. I still remember. It haunts me.) but also because I genuinely love geeking out with fellow fans. I legitimately have made some amazing friends (and also met the love of my life!) through conversations that started simply through fic comments.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oof...I definitely went through an angst phase so there are plenty of contenders. The Hunter's Remorse (24), Cassandra's Lament, The Unknown Known (both Battlestar Galactica), Walking Dictionary (Criminal Minds), Heart to Ashes to Stone (Game of Thrones), Long May We Reign (Reign), and Orbis Incognitus (The Walking Dead)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All That Glitters, Veiled Truths, Monstrous, pretty much anything I've written since about 2018ish.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
oh god. once, yes. in the Criminal Minds fandom. Granted, I pulled a surprise cliffhanger that, looking back, I would have breadcrumbed more--but I got SO MANY PEOPLE on ffnet screaming at me and generally being abusive because I *dared* to put a character in danger. it genuinely upset me so much that I stopped writing for a long time.
9. Do you write smut?
Absofuckinglutely.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I think once or twice? But I'm more of an AU kinda gal.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. But I did have someone lift very specific ideas from my fic (i.e. an AU where a certain character was given a very specific nickname and occupation, which another author then took and used in their own AU), and ngl, it made me feel hella weird. For the record, I wouldn't have minded it if they had simply put in the author's notes: "hey this idea was inspired by Mim, in her fic xyz". I didn't need them to come formally ask for permission or anything like that. But to see it in the wild and see readers commenting on their "originality" really put me off that writer as a person tbh (granted they're sus af for entirely other (worse) reasons too so this only solidified my feelings).
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of. I have had readers who weren't fluent in English run my fics through translators for Arabic and French, which I thought was hella cool.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I don't think so? Honestly don't remember.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
God. ALL TIME? Idk. I do love me a dynamic of "A thinks they're unlovable and B is the most patient and loving person alive", so definitely ships like Hackle and Cal/Eist are my top faves.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Some of my old Criminal Minds stuff.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterization.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Pridefulness over my characterization. And also...I am a fucking calathea of mental health and creativity. Everything must be *just so* or I cannot write. No messy house, no loud noises, no stress, no sickness, no dishes in the sink, no work emails to answer, NADA. Otherwise we shrivel up and die. Fun stuff.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I have, and knowing my insane ass, I most likely will again. Sometimes it's just fun. But ya gotta actually know the language and be 1000% certain about what you're saying.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh god. I think it was Cats. Yes. The musical.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
This is like asking a mother which child is her favorite 😅 I have a different relationship with each story, and love them each equally but in totally different ways. I will say that my favorites to re-read for comfort myself are: All That Glitters, Veiled Truths, Monstrous, and A Night with the Queen.

❛ i didn’t ask to get made. ❜ (From Tian)
Red lips press into a sharp line, violet eyes flashing as she stares over at him, his statement summoning strange shadows to come rushing over the curves of her face as she considers him. The sorceress has no quarrels with her destiny: she seizes it by the throat and bends it to her whims, shapes it into what she wishes- what she desires; she was never given a choice, either: she, too, had been shaped into a weapon from first she came into the world, but she does not deign fight the course of her fate, the webs and tangles of the destiny meant for her: she is a witch, she is: a sorceress through and through, powerful daughter of Chaos. She chooses to receive this gift that has been lain at her feet and mold it into what she needs; she does not understand why he can't plainly see that he, too, does not have to run from his own shadow: that no matter how hard he fights his destiny, no matter how hard he tries to outran it, no matter how great the distance he puts between himself and the truth, nothing will change; he'll always be what he's meant to be. Whether or not he grovels on his knees, mourning that which had been violently ripped away from him, or choose to weaponize his power, his nature will remain: he is a witcher. A weapon borne of magic and steel: nothing can touch him, and yet he chooses to lament the loss of a life long dead and gone. She cannot truly feel sympathy for him; and yet... "I know." she assures him, cold, bright eyes shimmering with purple fire as she tears her gaze away from the witcher, feeling that strange emotion he has managed to bring forth inside of her, gnaw at her stomach. The sorceress cannot help the sharp sigh that soon parts her lips. "but you are what you are. You are a witcher." brimming with ancient blood and power is left unsaid; instead, she says, "-not some blind, rabid dog biting everything that moves." be proud of your kind and choose to use your strengths to your benefit, witcher; goes unuttered, too; but that does not make it any less true. The sorceress glances back at him from under a mass of black, thick lashes. The fire in her eyes blazes brighter as she stares, sensing the storm of emotions roaring deep inside of him. She does not pry.

Jaskier’s brows furrowed as his eyes lingered on the Witcher. His words sunk in deep, cutting at the open wound he tried so hard to sow back closed. How dare the Wolf speak of broke hearts when he was the one who had committed the heinous crime towards him. His words felt like a challenge and Jaskier, desperate has he was to prove him wrong, gladfully accepted.
He turned his attention to his lute that rested on the wooden table behind him, his newly healed fingertips grazing across the coarse string. He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. If it was not for the witch and her recently restored powers, Jaskier would still be a miserable bard with no song from the muses to guide him home. If only she had the power to take away his reoccurring nightmares...perhaps then he could sleep just a tad bit better.
Jaskier took the lute into his hand and climbed the bench before sitting on the table. His eyes glanced at Geralt before returning to his instrument, pressing his fingers on the fret and his other hand along the main wooden body. He strung a chord, a test to hear if his lute need retuning but its beautiful sound echoed harmoniously across the empty hall.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes before gliding his fingers effortlessly across the string. A somber melody sung through his lute and began to fill every corner of the hall, its slow tempo confirming to Geralt that the song was a indeed lament after all.
Jaskier continued playing the tune for a few lingering moments until his lips finally parted:
I hear you're alive, how disappointing... I've also survived, no thanks to you Did I not bring you some glee Mister "oh! oh-look-at-me"? Now I'll burn all the memories of you.
Geralt’s lips let out a deep sigh as he lowered his guilt-ridden gaze towards the table. He refused to give the bard the satisfactory of his glum expression for he knew the song was about him. The words stung like claws ripping at his chest, digging their nails in deeper with each passing strike. Either way he forced himself to listen as the anguished bard pressed on.
All those lonely miles that you ride Now you'll walk with no one by your side Did you ever even care With your swords and your stupid hair? Now watch me laugh as I burn all the memories of you.
What for do you yearn? It's the point of no return After everything we did, we saw You turned your back on me What for do you yearn? Watch that butcher burn.
Geralt’s eyes glanced up at Jaskier, his antagonised gaze glaring back at him. He restrained himself from looking away but it was easier said than done for Jaskier’s grey eyes pulled him in closer, the melodic tune ringing louder.
At the end of my days when I'm through No word that I've written will ring quite as true as "burn!" Burn, butcher, burn! Burn, butcher, burn! Burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn... Watch me burn all the memories of you.
Silence creep into the halls like the shadows that lurked beneath the candle lights. A chill prickled against Geralt’s skin as he watched Jaskier stare back at him, his chest rising and falling with each breath. He did not say a word for he did not know what to say. For what words could comfort him expect the words he sung from his sorrowful, blue lips.
Jaskier waited for something to utter from the White Wolf’s mouth. A whimper, a loathsome bite, anything. But he heard nothing at all.
A scoff escaped his lips as his eyes lingered on Geralt. It was foolish of him to expect anything less from the Witcher for he was the same man who left him alone on the top of the mountain with nothing but his fraigle heart to guide him down the steep path. Perhaps it is true what they say about these monsters from Kaer Morhen...They feel nothing.
And with not a damned thing left to say, Jaskier took his lute and hopped off the table before storming out of the hall. Geralt twisted his lips, his eyes wincing at the sound of the door slamming against the wall. He watched as the candles shivered at the unexpected gust of wind that came their way before returning to a wilful ember. He took one last look at the them before placing his folded arms on the table in front of him, his head resting against his muscled skin. The lament replayed in his head over and over again. The words piercing deeper and deeper with each breathe. But he listened and listened until his eyes finally closed shut.

idk, just imagining Yennefer learning about Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove.  About how her training involved her getting to know lords, counts, earls, and other politicians and aristocrats. About how shite a lot of them are. Especially to the poorest souls that live on their lands.
How she one day hears the discussion of the Pankratz family and the whole Viscount ordeal of that Julian fellow. How it’s good that he’s not there anymore. How it would have been a mess for the economy or state of things. For said viscount was an artist...yet not one easily persuaded or manipulated. With the fervor to fight back against those he didn’t like...against those who didn’t think the matters of the farmers and the starving and the sick mattered as much as those who simply wanted balls and parties to show off their new jewels and toys.
Just thinking about Yennefer understanding the sacrifice Jaskier’s made in choosing to be Jaskier while having his heart heavy with guilt and not being able to forget those who were once in the care of Julian.
As Viscount Julian is discounted, and Jaskier isn’t always taken seriously...she sees how important the Sandpiper really is and where the roots really come from. Not that she didn’t believe him when he explained it to her in that tavern...but she learned how much deeper those roots ran.
There are moments when he shifts between who he was, who he is, who he is trying to be. And I think Yennefer can see those chances easiest than anyone else. Or maybe she’s the only one looking.
So when she calls him Sandpiper in front of Witchers, she’s not just being cute and teasing...she knows that’s the mentality he’s in. When he’s sad and lamenting, living with regret of the responsibility he’s shaken have caused dismay to the towns people he would walk among, she calls him back with a soft ‘Julek.’(I might be spelling this wrong, I’m sorry if I am). Usually calling him Bard as he calls her Witch. But then there are those moments when there’s peace momentarily around them, and their tiredness catches up, and she calls him by his name ‘Jaskier’.
