The ropes binding her hands cuts through her skin,making her flinch whenever the crowd bumped into her. "burn the witch burn the witch" the demanding crowd grew longer and bigger the closer they got to the town square. Thud!..a tomatoe rolls near her feet before she gets pelted with more rotten vegetables. Another knocks into the wound near her forehead, sending a jolt of pain across her head. She slowly lifts her head to look at the people looking at her their faces all twisted with disgust and hate as they look at her like she is a cockroach at their feet. The guards behind her forcefully pushes her away as she stumbles forward. She feels her energy draining as she drags her feet, the long walk from the smelly cage she was locked up in, to the town square had abused her feet with cuts and splinters. Two burly men pull her towards the stake and tie her hands forcefully behind the stake while the crowd cheers. "such a pretty lass" one man says as he runs his rough hand along the side of her face. "keep your hands off her, she might curse you" The village headman says approaching the girl. "so I will ask you one final time, do you accept that you were the one to curse little jesse into his fit of madness? Do you confess to your crimes of bringing sin into our village by selling your soul to the devil" "no… I never did anything like that.." she continues as tears flow down her eyes. "not guilty, you say?" The man laughs. "We know what you did behind the closed doors of the apothecary." The man smirks. "Lee Gahyun, the church has come to decide that you are indeed guilty of opening your heart and soul to the devil. You have brought misfortune to our village and now the only way for your soul to be freed from the clutches of the devil is to have you burn on this stake. We hope that the lord will have mercy and purify your soul" The headman concludes as he gives a signal to the crowd. Some fearfully gather dried twigs and sticks around her feet, while some of the dead children's parents spit at her and slap her" "rot in hell witch" they curse. Burn the witch burn the witch - the chorus of the crowd gets louder and louder as the men carrying the torches reach the towns square. The flames highlight their wicked grins as they make their way towards her. Her cries for help all hidden by the roar of the crowd. She tries for the last time to call for help but her throat is parched and hurts as she shouts again. The smell of burning hay spreads as one by one the townsfolk lay their torches setting the haystacks and sticks ablaze. The flames join each other as they begin a dance, slowly slithering closer and closer to her while towering higher and higher blocking the evil smiles of her townsfolk from her sight. Memories of her mother flood her mind as she is suddenly reminded of her younger brother. She tries to fight against the binds as worry fills her. "What… happened to him,? What would this ruthless killers do to her brother?" Her little remaining strength was no match to the binds. Tears flow down her eyes as she cries silently. No it's not the pain of the fire running above her dress latching into her skin like tentacles, it's the pain of not being able to be there to protect her brother that hurts her. The crackling fire surrounds her, the smoke creating vivid patterns before her eyes as she succumbs into the darkness.

A cloaked figure effortlessly dives through the crowd towards the front row spectators. Their eyes shining with a twisted range of emotions which the cloaked person despised. "What's happening here?" A question that is immediately answered by the announcement made by the village headman. "A witch?" The cloaked figure repeats in disbelief and then mockery. "Yes" a plump woman whispers as she shields her child. "That wench was boiling potions and spells in that wretched apothecary of hers. She was killing our children… poisoning them. I swear…" She rambles as the cloaked figure trembles a bit and clenches their fist. A pained out worldly sound leaves their lips , as the high flames reflect on their darkening pupils. The townsfolk turn to look at the cloaked figure that stands with an arm outstretched towards the sky. "A witch you say? Hmm witness one then you imbeciles" lightning strikes in the distance as the floor trembles beneath their feet. A curious child stretches their palm to catch a large water drop. "Rain?" The child whispers as the grey cloud upon them let's down all it's sorrows. Killing the fires as it hisses, like a snake in pain. Distracted by the rain, none notices the cloaked figure disappear. "Mother" a child points at the stake making everyone look at the half burnt stake, empty except for the burnt marks in the shape of a woman
