May I pretty please request an emergency medicine doctor!reader x Hotch blurb? I’d love to see both of them in careers that are difficult, yet despite that they still manage to be together because they understand each other so much. Maybe something with the rest of the team as well if it’s possible 🫶🏼🥹
Emily used to think Hotch would never be happy again. She’d drive him home after work, pick him up in the mornings, and she’d think about how miserable he was, the kind of misery that hooks you in its grip, has you turning to wine or whiskey just to keep breathing.
She thought for sure he’d buckle. When Hayley died, he’d have to. How could you not? But he kept going and proved she should’ve had more faith in him, becoming the father Jack deserves, and, surprisingly, your partner.
“You’re squeezing me too tight,” you mumble, just loud enough for Emily and the others to hear you where Hotch hugs you a few feet from the dinner table. “Why are you trying to break my back?”
“I haven’t seen you in three weeks.”
“Eighteen days is not three weeks.”
“It might as well be.” Hotch peels away from you to give you a once over. Emily’s half jealousy and half fondness, seeing him love someone so obviously. “Are you hungry? I ordered for you.”
“Super hungry. Do I smell like antiseptic?”
“No, just soap.”
“Well, that’s not much better.”
Hotch puts his arm behind your back and guides you to the table. The team squeeze out hellos between mouthfuls and you take your place at Hotch’s side behind a steaming plate. You’re as ravenous as the rest of them after your long shift; Morgan can hardly get a word out of you for the first ten minutes, though he tries, and you attempt to be polite. Emily nudges him until he gets the hint to stop.
“Here,” Hotch says, putting a heaping of his food onto your plate with a large spoon.
“Stop.” You attack his spoon with a fork.
“It’s fine, you like it more than I do.”
“Don’t care. You need your energy. I’m going to make you carry me up the stairs home.”
He’s unintimidated. “Ah.”
“Ah,” you echo. “You sound so doubtful.”
Hotch looks like he might try to keep flirting with you, but he gives in quickly, betraying how much he’s missed you with a hand slipping under the table. Emily sees his fingers curl over your knee, averting her gaze with a feigned sip of coke.
She can deduce the silent question you ask one another about anyways.
“We’ll have dessert,” you say. We won’t skip out early. “What are you having, Dr. Reid?”
Hotch orders you three different things, which you eat fast.
“They’re not feeding you at the hospital?” Rossi asks.
“Three emergency transfers in twelve hours,” you explain, slouching now into Hotch’s side, one slow inch at a time. “I didn’t have time for much.”
“That’s not healthy,” Hotch murmurs in concern.
“I’m sure I can ask any of your friends about your eating habits and find a similar schedule,” you brush him off, raising your gaze to Emily, then Morgan, then Rossi and Reid. Everyone smiles the same way. Hotch is caught, and his laugh jostles your shoulder.
“Have you ever heard the saying, ‘do as I say, and not as I do?’” he asks.
God, Emily thinks with a huff of a laugh she can’t contain, get a room.
“He likes that one,” Spencer says.
“I don’t doubt it.” You lift your lips to his jaw and press a peck to the line of it. One, then two. “Maybe that’s why we've lasted as long as we have. Mutual disregard for our wellbeing.”
“And a great deal of care for each other,” Rossi says, nodding sagely. “This is why my marriages never last.”
“Is that why?” Spencer asks.
“You’ve gotten to be quite the lark.”
“Lark,” Hotch whispers to you. Emily, sitting at his other side, might be the only one who hears, the others distracted by Spencer and Rossi’s ensuing squabble.
“Scoundrel,” you agree.
“How’s your head now?”
“It’s gonna be a hundred percent better if you give me that,” you say, pointing hopefully at his full drink.
He doesn’t hesitate to press it into your hand. Emily would never suspect you hadn’t seen one another for weeks; you move and he follows. You rub your cheek against his shoulder. He touches his nose to your hair, his eyes shuttering closed for one stolen, blissful second. “Missed you,” he says under his breath.
Emily looks away with a smile. Hotch isn’t hopelessly miserable anymore.

Stolen Glances
Author’s note: reposting my old work on this side blog! Let me know if you’d like to read a specific one. Thank you for reading!
Warning: alcohol and drinking mentioned
Five days. That wasn’t even a full week. It should be relatively simple. You and your friends were going to spend a few days at the Fern Ridge Reservoir in a luxury home that Justin had rented out for the group. Everyone had their own rooms, the house was massive and you’d get to relax off the grid and recharge your batteries. There was relatively nothing to complain about.
“So…are you going to tell Justin you’re into him yet or just keep torturing yourself?” Your friend Bree asks, snapping you out of your daydream, carrying her bags to the car. The two of you had flown into Oregon from LA and were driving to the lake with Charlie and Tate, two of Justin’s friends that had really become like family to you in the last few years.
“She’s more likely to admit her feelings when she’s dead.” Tate scoffs while grabbing your backpack and shoving it in the trunk. “I want to have faith in you kid but, I just don’t know if you’ve got it in you right now.”
Charlie walks out of his house and hands you your water bottle, “you can tell him when you’re ready. Don’t listen to them, they're just impatient. Like five year olds who keep asking their mom to buy them McDonald’s on the way home.”
You simply nodded, staring daggers at your friends after Charlie came in and defended you. He hopped in the driver’s seat while Bree and Tate sat in the back. Looking out the window, you let your mind roam, both excited and nervous for what this little trip had in store.
It really wasn’t your fault, falling for him was like waking up on the couch with the tv on and not even remembering that you fell asleep. One day he was a good friend, a friend who you met years ago when he was a rookie living in a frat house in Costa Mesa. Then, somewhere along the way you fell for his unwavering kindness and his sense of humor. Or maybe it was the way the corner of his mouth tilts up sometimes in a side grin. Or his ability to always look like he just rolled out of bed but somehow still looked extremely put together. Everything about Justin, especially the little things, made you want him more. You just couldn’t bring yourself to tell him that. Admitting your feelings would just complicate things. And what if he didn’t even feel the same way? The thought of listening to him let you down easy while trying to spare you the embarrassment really just made you want to crawl into a hole on the side of the road and never come out.
So yes, long story short, these so-called “feelings?” You had no choice but to take them to the grave.
“Can we just have a nice relaxing weekend and enjoy ourselves? We can leave the drama and whatever else for when we get back to California, please.”
They simply nodded and you caught Tate and Bree sharing a look but you didn’t want to even think about what that could mean for you, instead deciding to focus on the scenery for another 20 minutes before the house came into view. Charlie started honking as soon as he pulled into the driveway and Gabe came running out, pulling you in for a hug.
“Hey neighbor.” He mutters out, giving you a squeeze.
“We haven’t lived next to each other in four years, Gabe.”
“Best year of my life honestly. I don’t think I’ve had more junk food…ever.”
Bree comes up behind the two of you and gets a hug of her own. “That’s because you and Nabers here kept suggesting pizza and ice cream nights. When y/n told me some NFL guys moved in next door I thought we’d be seeing more vegetables and less Oreos but it really was the best time.”
The guys unloaded all the bags from the car while you and Bree caught up with Gabe’s girlfriend Jordan. She informed you that Justin had gone out to get groceries with one of her good friends that she brought with her.
“Katie just thinks Justin is the sweetest thing ever so I figured why not introduce them. I’m tired of watching her drool over his old Instagram pictures. Hoping to play Cupid this weekend.” She jokes and you force out a small laugh, feeling your stomach turn at what this girl could possibly look like.
An hour later Bree rushes into your room and closes the door behind her after everyone has finally met and introduced themselves. “I know you said no drama but—”
“Nope, I don’t wanna hear it,” you interrupt her while you unpack your bag. “We are in a freaking mansion, on the water. Let’s focus on that!”
“Or…” she sits on the bed, completely interrupting your flow. “We could just acknowledge the fact that she took the room right next to Justin’s after knowing him for approximately two seconds. And she looks like the second coming of Candice Swanepoel. I mean, it’s kind of unfair,” she huffs.
You shake your head with a laugh. “She’s gorgeous, it’s pretty unreal. And definitely unfair. But we are going to focus on other things like having fun, enjoying the weather and spending quality time with our friends. Maybe have a couple strawberry margaritas with sugar on the rim. And we will be nice to Katie, even if she does look like an OG Victoria secret model before SavagexFenty kicked them to the curb. We will be welcoming and nice.”
She looks up at the ceiling like she can’t hear you and then back at you to face your pointed look, warning her to be on her best behavior. “Fine. I will be nice to Candice Jr.”
“Thank you.” You roll your eyes and pat her on the back.
Justin suggested riding jet skis which sounded amazing until Katie said she’d just finished touching up her makeup. Bree was about to make a snide comment but you elbowed her in the side before she could get the words out. Gabe and Jordan were taking a nap and Charlie was on the phone with one of the parents of the high school team he was coaching so you, Bree, Tate and Justin headed out after changing into your swimsuits.
Everyone found a life jacket that fit them just right and you hopped onto the back of Justin’s jet ski.
“Please promise me you won’t drive this thing like a grandma. I’m here for a good time, not a long time.” You joke, grabbing onto his waist. His laugh vibrates against you and you bite back a smile. He takes off and the two of you bounce against the water leaving you holding on for dear life. After a few minutes, you get used to it and it honestly feels freeing, just you and him out on the open water, taking a tour of the homes that are a little ways away until he stops at a man made cave, far away from any prying eyes.
“What are you doing?” You ask, feeling your heartbeat in your ears. Even in the shade, the reflection of the water hitting his eyes made you feel insane. And you couldn’t stop looking at him if you tried, not that you were trying very hard in the first place.
“Have you ever driven a jet ski before?” You shake your head no and he motions for you to switch spots with him. He leans over you to show you where the on switch is and how to work the speed and the brake, curving his hands over yours on the handles.
The smile that is threatening to take over your face is too much, so you settle for a joke. “You, Justin Herbert, giving up…control? This is a moment in history.”
“Just drive,” his cheeks heat up, turning a light shade of pink, “and try to get us back to the house in one piece, please.” You may or may not have driven as fast as you could with a few extra turns just to feel his body against yours for a little bit longer.
Although the afternoon was a victory, the evening brought you right back to reality. Katie had practically been glued to his side ever since you came back to the house. She sat next to him at dinner and practically jumped into the loveseat after he sat down for movie night. You resisted the urge to roll your eyes and walked into the kitchen to grab some kettle corn, taking your time in the kitchen before eventually making your way back to your seat. Luckily it was a movie you’d seen a dozen times so you weren’t missing anything. If anything, the movie in front of you was nothing compared to the horror film to your right, so Charlie cracked a joke to get you out of your head. Justin was so focused on watching his friend make you laugh that he didn’t even realize that Katie had fallen asleep on his shoulder, holding onto his arm like it was her personal body pillow. You caught a glimpse of the domestic scene that looked straight out of a romcom and it almost made you want to call it a night right then and there. But you sat through it and watched some random girl cozy up to the man you’d had serious feelings for…for the last year.
The next morning, you woke up later than usual. Truth was, you hadn’t gotten much sleep since you were thinking about Justin and Katie all night and you needed something else to focus on. You walked into the bathroom you were sharing with Bree to brush your teeth and get ready for the day.
When you swung the door open you froze, staring for a brief moment before covering your eyes. “Um—I’m so sorry I had no idea you were in here! Why, why are you in here? Doesn’t the master bedroom have a bathroom attached?”
Justin quickly covered up, grabbing his towel and wrapping it around his waist. “Bree liked the mirror in my bathroom so I let her use it. I thought the door was locked, how did you get in?”
“The lock is broken, Bree didn’t tell you that?”
He lets out a nervous laugh, “she may have neglected to mention that.” You were going to kill her.
“I’m gonna—I’m gonna go. So sorry again for the—you know what? I’m just gonna leave and we can act like this didn’t happen.” You close the door before he can utter a word and you head back to your room, silently praying that no one finds out about this.
He couldn’t take it anymore. You were avoiding him like the plague the entire day. Since the morning you’d hardly looked at him, even when he pulled you aside to assure you that your little encounter this morning, although awkward, was totally fine. He even sat through watching you and Charlie go tubing together and share a pizza at lunch, but his final straw was when he saw you taking a nap together in Charlie’s bed with the tv playing. The two of you had always been close but the quarterback couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that something more was going on and he didn’t like it. This trip was supposed to be about him getting to spend some quality time with you before training camp and Charlie knew that. Nothing was going according to plan and Justin knew he had to do something about it.
He rushed to get ready for dinner and let out a sigh of relief when he found you in the kitchen. “I know it’s none of my business but, is there something going on with you and Charlie?”
You took a big breath, not exactly ready to have this conversation and yet here you were. “No,” you state blankly, “there’s nothing going on between Charlie and I.”
“Then what’s going on? You’ve barely said two words to me all day so there has to be a problem.” Justin knew he had no right to be jealous, especially of one of his best friends but something was just nagging at him to keep asking questions. It was like word vomit and he couldn’t stop.
“Why are we even talking about this right now? It’s really not a big deal Justin, seriously, just let it go please.”
He clearly wasn’t having your attempts to dodge him. “No! I'm not going to let it go until you tell me. I mean, if this is about this morning I thought we handled that.” You don’t miss the subtle clench in his jaw. His patience is quickly running out and you really don’t get why this has him so worked up. Possibly because you’re so focused on your own rollercoaster of emotions.
“It’s not about this morning!” You blurt out. He was backing you into a corner, literally.
His pleading eyes were begging you to talk to him. “Then what is it about?”
“You! It’s about you. How I feel about you is a problem. It is THE problem, okay?” You shake your head, mentally shutting down at the look on his face. There it was, that horrible look you wished you’d never see…pity. Honestly? It looked worse in real life than it ever had in your nightmares and the sigh he gave you afterwards was just the icing on the humiliation cake.
“Y/n, I—”
“Are you guys ready to head out for dinner?” Gabe pops his head in, catching an immediate whiff of the uncomfortable air in the room. “Uh sorry. Was I interrupting something?”
“No.” You fold your arms across your chest, creating a physical and emotional barrier between the two of you.
“Yes,” Justin says at the same time, furrowing his eyebrows and giving you a sideways glance, his gaze softening at your watery eyes.
“You didn’t interrupt anything,” you huff out with a sniff, after a quick swipe under your eye you step around the man who was whispering for you to wait. You ignored him and kept moving your way out of the house, sliding into the car without turning back. Charlie took one look at you and asked if everything was okay but you really weren’t sure how to answer. How you were really feeling would surely bring you to tears and you really didn’t feel like crying in a car full of people.
That evening, your phone lit up as you sat motionless in your bed, contemplating going home the next morning. Of course it was a text from Justin.
I know you’re awake, I can’t sleep either. Can we please talk?
You texted him back a simple “fine” and there were two tiny knocks on your door less than a minute later. He was probably standing outside your room door when he texted.
“We didn’t get to finish our conversation earlier.” His voice is even deeper due to the exhaustion. You didn’t even think that was possible.
“I said everything I needed to,” you say with a casual shrug.
“Well good because I need you to listen,” Justin closes the door behind him and takes in a breath. “You’re one of my best friends…”
“Oh god please. You don’t have to let me down gently. I’m a big girl I can—”
“I’m not done. And I’m not—I’m not letting you down gently. I’m not letting you down at all. You have been one of the most consistently good things in my life and somewhere along the way you became a lot more than consistency. You’ve become somewhat of a necessity, an essential part of my life that I don’t think I can or want to live without.” He sighs, running a hand over his face with a sigh and you just stand there, limbs shaking in anticipation, waiting for him to get to his main point.
Justin closes his eyes, visibly collecting himself and his thoughts. “What I’m trying to say is that you aren’t the only one with feelings here. And that your feelings? They aren’t a problem.”
“You—you mean that you share the…you like me too?” You laugh a little, in complete disbelief.
He steps toward you, nodding with a smile of his own. “I really like you.”
“Wait…but what about Cand—Katie? She’s gorgeous, fun and is super into you. Plus she looks borderline perfect in the morning from what I gathered. I’m pretty sure I drool in my sleep sometimes and I have eye boogers.”
That really sends him over the edge and he covers his mouth to stifle a laugh. “It’s a good thing I love eye boogers, they’re my favorite.”
You smack his chest at the playful joke and his energy pulls you in, pressing your bodies together like magnets. And right there you feel like a kid again, standing next to your crush with your heart racing. He leans down and his lips brush against yours and he asks if this is okay, causing you to nod because obviously you want this with him, and more. Your lips fit together seamlessly and he tilts your head up by lightly cupping your face, running his thumb across the length of your jaw while deepening the kiss. Your entire body is covered in goosebumps even though the kiss is so soft and gentle. He pulls away slightly, pecking your lips after he takes a second as to not rush into things too quickly, waiting too long to ruin the moment. Pure bliss coats all of his senses as he begins peppering your face with more feathery kisses, silently willing himself to always remember the softness of your skin and how amazing it feels to finally be this close.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to do that,” the grin he’s sporting is taking over his entire being and before you can respond he’s kissing you again. You happily oblige, smiling against his lips with a satisfied hum.
The next morning you were pretty sure you were still smiling. You woke up feeling super comfortable, turning around to catch a glimpse of him, thinking about pinching yourself to make sure this was real. He looks so peaceful, his clothed chest moving up and down rhythmically, a slight pout on his face. You can’t help but run your fingers through his hair, smiling to yourself once again when he begins to stir in his sleep. With his eyes still closed, he pulls you into his arms, lazily kissing you like he’s been doing this for years.
“Good morning,” he whispers, his eyes finally open, looking alert and bright.
“Good morning, I cannot believe you practically tackled me first thing in the morning. I probably have morning breath.”
“You don’t and even if you did, I wouldn’t care. And you don’t have eye boogers or drool on your face, you look really good first thing in the morning. The most incredible sight to wake up to.” You want to kiss him again but you decide it’s best to hold off, leaning over to check the time on his phone. “It’s 5am, you should probably head back to your room before everyone wakes up and this turns into a CIA interrogation.”
He chuckles, kissing your forehead before he gets up to stretch out his limbs. “We have all the time in the world to figure this out when we get back to LA, keeping this between us is probably our best bet for now. I do not want to hear all of Tate’s questions. And Gabe would be even worse, he’s been telling me to do this for years.”
You tilt your head towards him and whisper yell, “you’ve thought about this for years and didn’t say anything?”
“Yeah, you’re not the only one who was helplessly pining over someone and refused to say anything about their feelings out of fear of rejection. I was scared too. And now I’m not. Now, I’m going to head back to my bed and count down the minutes until I get to kiss you again.”
You shake your head, laying back down ready for your second round of sleep. “You’re a dork.”
“I am. And that is your favorite thing about me. Get some sleep, I’ll see you in a few hours.”
Waking up again around 8:30, you realize that skipping out on dinner last night has come back to haunt you. Gingerly walking down the stairs as to not wake anyone up, you tip toe into the kitchen quietly, only to find Katie already up and pouring a glass of orange juice.
“Good morning,” she sings, looking bright and cheery. Maybe in another life she was Giselle from Enchanted because she could definitely be some sort of Disney princess. “I’m so glad you’re awake because I need some advice. Do you think Justin would want pancakes or waffles? I wanna surprise him with this breakfast tray and I just want everything to look right you know? So what do you think?”
I think his tongue was practically down my throat last night and he’d probably want to have me for breakfast but I can’t say any of that. “Um let’s see. Definitely pancakes and skip out on the orange juice cause he’ll probably want some coffee.” As painful as it is to help her, you know this small sacrifice will pay off. You’ve basically already got the guy, there’s no use in rubbing it in the poor girl’s face when you won’t be seeing her anymore two days from now.
Katie nods excitedly, prepping her pancake batter and thanking you several times. You settle for a bagel with cream cheese and head back upstairs to get ready for the day. The afternoon isn’t very eventful, you realize that the guys had already left for a fishing expedition earlier in the morning so Katie’s breakfast was cold by the time Justin got back. He looked at you hesitantly, waiting for you to nod your head before he thanked her and tossed the food in the microwave. Jordan suggested the group go out to a bar/club that night since you and Bree had been mentioning these famous strawberry margaritas since the day you arrived.
The music was loud as soon as you walked in. Gabe ordered the first round of drinks and you snuck out of the booth to reapply some mascara while the other girls browsed the marg menu. A knock on the door startles you into dropping your makeup in the sink.
“Occupied!” You yell out.
“It’s me.” Smiling to yourself at the familiar voice, you lock the door behind you when Justin walks in.
“Hi.”
Your face is in his hands with the mascara long forgotten as he softly says “c’mere,” leaning down to capture your lips with your back still against the door. He tastes like the shot of Don Julio you all just took and a little bit of mint. Your hand is in his hair again, pulling it ever so slightly so you are still as close to him as humanly possible without standing on your toes. Justin knows you both have to be back soon before anyone notices but the thought of your body not being practically glued to his makes him really want to go home. The kiss today is sloppier than last night, there’s more urgency, more fire. Neither of you thought it could get better but your hands are all over each other, your arms struggling to wrap itself around his bicep and at some point he had a handful of your ass. Not that you were complaining.
The kiss leaves you breathless, letting out a soft laugh as you pat him on the chest. “We should stop. I don’t want to but, we have to unfortunately.”
His lips curl into a small frown, almost a pout and you are seconds away from kissing him again. “I know. You should go first and I’ll be right out. Definitely need to splash some cold water on my face or something, I need a minute.”
Nodding your head in understanding, you step out to give him some space, but not before he grabs your hand and kisses the inside of your wrist.
An hour later you’re two margs and two shots in. Katie has been hanging all over Justin as soon as he got back from the bathroom and it’s taking everything in you to prevent yourself from yelling at her to get her hands off of him. And bless his heart he really is trying to keep his distance, catching your eye with an apologetic look every time she finds her way next to him again but it’s really getting exhausting.
“We should go dance!” Bree exclaims, snapping you out of your jealous rage. You nod immediately, desperate to look at anything other than what is happening at your table.
🎶H-O-T-T-O-G-O
Snap and clap and touch your toes
Raise your hands, now body roll
Dance it out, you're hot to go
H-O-T-T-O-G-O
Snap and clap and touch your toes
Raise your hands, now body roll
H-O-T-T-O-G-O🎶
You found yourself singing your heart out with not only Bree but some guys that also knew every word to the song. Getting lost in the moment and also not being remotely close to being sober you danced, letting him grab your hand and spin you around as Chappell Roan continued to play.
“I’m Matt,” the stranger tells you when the song is finished.
You hold your hand out, “y/n. You’re not a bad duet partner Matt.”
“You’re not so bad yourself,” he laughs, still holding onto you.
An awkward silences washes over the moment when you begin to sober up a bit and pull your hand back. “I need to grab some water, excuse me.”
“Hello! Earth to y/n! That guy was cute and totally into you. What the hell is your problem?” Bree lectures you as you sit at the bar.
He’s cute but he’s not Justin, you think to yourself. “I just needed a drink that was a lot of dancing and it’s hot out there.”
Your excuse is pointless because you feel a presence behind you. “Can I get three waters please?”
Bree looks at Matt, thanking him and grabbing her water bottle to give you some privacy. He settles in the bar stool next to you and slides the water in your direction. “Are you from here? Because I’d remember a face like that walking around.”
The sentiment would usually make you feel good but now you just wished a certain someone was giving you flirty compliments. “I’m only here for a few more days unfortunately. Then it’s back to real life.”
“Well maybe I could convince you to come back? Make this some sort of regular thing? Us seeing each other?”
Back at the table, Justin was staring daggers at the bar area. As soon as Bree sat down without you, Tate asked where you were.
“Attagirl.” The football player heard his friend say and he moved around in his seat to get release the building tension in his shoulders. Katie was next to him saying something but all he could focus on was how close this guy was sitting next to you. Did the chairs really need to be that close?
“Bro, Justin.“ Charlie snaps in his face.
“What?” His tone was a bit more aggressive and irate than he intended but he couldn’t help it.
“If you hold that bottle any tighter you’re gonna shatter the glass man.”
He hadn’t even noticed he was treating the Nectarine Premiere bottle like it was a stress ball. The man slid it away from him on the table, turning his gaze back to the bar. You were laughing at something the guy was saying and the way the guy was looking at you was eating him alive.
Katie placed her hand on his thigh and kept going with her story that she’d been telling. Justin couldn’t take it anymore.
He plucked her hand off of him and got up when he saw you and the guy heading outside. “Excuse me.” The group watched him take several long strides until he was out the door.
Matt looks up with his mouth open as soon as Justin comes into view. “Dude, you’re Justin Herbert! I’m a huge fan man I bought your jersey last year. Wear it every Sunday.”
“It’s uh—it’s nice to meet you…”
“Oh it’s Matt.”
“Matt,” he says slowly trying to get rid of the bitterness in his voice but it doesn’t go unnoticed by you. Matt is too busy being a fanboy to see that anything is wrong. They take a selfie and Justin sends him on his way, the fan now too excited to have remembered he was trying to get your number.
Justin blows out a breath, staring at you until he hears you laugh. “This isn’t funny,” he groans.
“On the contrary, it’s hilarious. I’ve had to deal with it for the last three days. You didn’t even last an hour before running over here and putting a stop to it.”
“I didn’t run,” he counters, “I walked—very quickly. Not my fault I have long legs.”
You take a sip of your water. “Sure. Now how are you going to get yourself out of this? We said we weren’t going to tell them until we talked about what this is.”
“We did say that but I know what this is. I want to be with you. I want to kiss you, hold your hand, dance with you. I want…I want us to be together. That was the whole point of this trip.”
Furrowing your eyebrows, you urge him to explain. “I told Charlie I was ready. Planned this entire getaway to have one last trip before camp but I also didn’t want to leave again without telling you how I feel. What better place to tell someone you love them than at the lake?”
“You love me?”
He grabs your hand, feeling a sudden need for you to anchor him to the ground. “I love everything about you. I’m just sorry it took me this long to tell you the truth.”
“Better late than never. I love you too, a lot.”
He smiles again, a weight lifted off of him that he’d been carrying for quite some time. Justin is so happy that he doesn’t think he’s capable of words right now.
“Come here,” you tell him and he immediately closes any distance between you.
You give him a slow kiss, knowing you have all the time in the world to get to be with him.
Until a knock on the window startles you apart.
“I FREAKING KNEW IT!” Bree yells.
“Finally.” Charlie says shaking his head.
Justin rests his forehead against yours, too far gone to even care about PDA. He’d deal with the consequences later. “Do we have to go back in there and answer all their questions?”
“I think I’m gonna need one more kiss before we go,” you whisper.
Your brand new boyfriend nods in excitement, leaning in immediately. “Yes ma’am.”

request: reader and jamie have been in a relationship for maybe 5 or 6 months and reader hasn’t said anything but the girls Jamie follows on instagram really bother her. she doesn’t want to seem controlling because of her past relationships but she is trying to find a way to bring it up to him. so one day she is feeling a little more insecure and Jamie is trying to figure out what’s wrong and she finally snaps and tells him. like she would say “you haven’t unfollowed any girls on the gram since we started dating and it makes me feel horrible about myself”
word count: 1.1k
you knew it was an awful idea even before you decided to scroll through your boyfriends instagram following. it was a bad idea for multiple reasons actually - mainly your own body image issues. however, you had seen what seemed like all the tiktoks in existence about men and their instagram usage pre and post relationship. also, it didn’t help that you kept getting recommended videos of girls' devastating reactions to scrolling through their favourite hockey players following.
when you first clicked on jamies following list, you thought it wouldn't have been so bad.
Blondes.
Boobs.
Brunettes.
Canadian University Girls?
you went into a completely unwarranted deep dive because really, jamie had never given you any reasons to doubt his faithfulness and yet… you were a half-tub deep into your litre of mint chocolate ice cream with grey’s anatomy playing distractedly in the background.
with jamie gone on a roadie, you had time to push all of your feelings of distrust and discomfort to the back of your mind. you had been in this position before, and with yours and jamies relationship so fresh you didn’t want to say anything. last time you had brought your insecurities up with your ex boyfriend, you had been yelled at and called controlling - which you would rather not relive. even though jamie was much nicer than your ex, you were still having trouble trying to find a way to safely bring the topic up, so you dropped it.
a week later and jamie had gotten back from his trip, completely exhausted but wanting to spend time with you nonetheless, you had tried your best to forget all about his following list.
“how’s my girl been?” jamie smiles at you sweetly before wrapping you into a hug. the two of you rock back and forth for a moment.
“oh you know… the usual,” you shrug, silently loving the glint in jamie’s eyes. he was so pretty.
jamie brings you back into another hug and presses a soft kiss to your temple. “oh i forgot, trevor wants to know if we’ll go out with him tonight,”
“go out where?”
“some new restaurant downtown,” jamie shrugs carelessly as all men do. “do you wanna go?”
you think about it for a moment, did you really want to go out with trevor? ultimately though, you decide that going out would be the perfect distraction you needed. plus, the extra time with your boyfriend might help reassure yourself about your relationship.
wrong. three hours later you were dressed, ready, and sat uncomfortably between your boyfriend and his best friend. their friends sat across from you, all of whom were single and making comments on all the girls that walked past your table. their comments weren’t out of the ordinary, but you couldn’t help but wonder if jamie felt the same way as his friends. if like his following suggested - he liked appreciating other girls more than he let on.
“now she’s hot”
“you should go ask her for her number! look at her ass,”
“i think i just saw a goddess…”
“i’d let her dog walk me,”
with each comment you shrunk into yourself, suddenly feeling very self-conscious of your body and your outfit choice. jamie was quick to notice of course, leaning into you and whispering, “are you okay?”
when you nodded your head in response, jamie only frowned.
when everyone’s food arrives and you were still acting off, jamie questions you again, “no seriously… what’s wrong?”
you smooth the sleeves of your top, “i don’t want to get into it here,”
“what?”
“jamie, please just drop it”
things were tense between the two of you for the rest of the night and instead of trying to work through things, you simply order another drink at the restaurant. by the time jamie drops you off at your apartment you were tipsy.
“can you tell me what’s wrong now?” were the first words out of jamie’s mouth when you locked the door behind him.
“no,” you respond quickly.
jamie was rightfully confused. “yn…”
you pretend you don’t hear him. “do you want something to drink?”
“no! I want you to tell me what's wrong with you!” jamie was clearly frustrated and tired of your refusal to talk.
you whip around towards him - still tipsy and upset. “you want to know what's bothering me?” you start, to which jamie nods enthusiastically. “you’re bothering me!”
“what did i do…?”
he was so oblivious sometimes. “i know i shouldn't have looked through your instagram followings but i can't unsee what i saw! all the girls…. i feel sick about myself,”
jamie tries to speak but you interrupt him, “and i don’t want to be controlling and force you to unfollow them but… i just feel so awful and ugly and like… you have so many options out there that you’re probably interested in and-”
“okay wait,” jamie finally interjects. he inches closer to you, his mind still reeling from how fast you were speaking. “first of all, i don’t look at other girls,” you scoff but jamie keeps talking. “and if my following was upsetting you, you could've just told me instead of bottling up your feelings and getting upset with me”
“i use instagram like, once a year and i honestly don't look at my following list it’s from so long ago. so, if you want me to unfollow the people that make you uncomfortable than i one hundred percent will” jamie continues, stepping closer to you and grabbing ahold of your hands.
“i’m sorry,” you whisper, sad and confused all at once. you hadn’t meant to blow up all at once, but your past relationships would have never been this kind to you and so you were unsure of how to react. you were almost positive that you were being controlling and you suddenly felt sick. “i didn’t mean it-”
“yes you did,” jamie’s voice is soft now, his hands comfortingly trailing patterns up and down your arms. “and by the way, i think you're the most beautiful girl that i’ve ever laid eyes on. i’m sorry for making you feel bad. i don’t want anybody else,”
“i don’t want anybody else either,” you breathe a sigh of relief and wrap your arms around your boyfriend.
the next time you check instagram is when you get a notification that your boyfriend had posted a picture “for the first time in awhile”. the pictures are sweet shots of the two of you, taken by trevor whose presence you can never evade. you get curious again though, clicking on your boyfriends profile only to see that his following had significantly decreased.

Hi! I absolutely loveeeee your writing!!! Hopefully you’re still doing requests hehe…
Maybe reader and Hoshina were childhood bffs and then the reader’s family sent her abroad (maybe to serve in another county’s defense force???) but now she’s back in Japan and assigned to the Third Division. And ofc they still make an amazing team and know each other by heart and maybeeeee some feelings start to rise now that they’re adults and all that???
HELLO I'm so happy you love my writing! Of COURSE I'm still doing requests, I'm having too much fun with everyone's prompts so thank you for sending me more suggestions!
No Matter The Distance
You were dreaming of Soshiro again. This time you recalled the memory of when you were eight and you'd tripped and scraped your knees so he carried you home on his back. You were such a crybaby back then. You nearly soaked his shoulder, sobbing from the pain. He sang to you the whole way home so you'd focus on his voice and not your bleeding knees. He surprisingly sang rather well.
"Sing to me again." You mumbled in your sleep as you rolled over onto your side. "I like when you sing... to me..."
When you woke up in the morning, he was neither singing to you nor carrying you, in fact, he wasn't even in the same country as you. It was a rude awakening every time and you still hadn't gotten used to it.
You knew it was naive of you to cling to memories from your past, but when you relived them every night it didn't seem so long ago. But now that you counted, it had been about six years since you'd seen him. You'd known each other since preschool and you'd parted ways when you both turned 18. Your parents thought you'd make a better life for yourself in America so you were shipped overseas, never to see his smiling face again.
You wondered if he dreamed about you too. You wondered if he was even the same person you remembered. It'd been over half a decade- a lot could change. You hoped he was still the same. You knew that was naive too.
You try to quit sulking and you finish getting ready for work. You clock in at 0800 and report for duty. You are surprised to find that your commanding officer has been waiting for you to arrive. She takes in the sight of you as if it's the last time she'll see you. Then she smiles. "Good morning Vice Captain."
You nod to her. "Cap'n. Mornin'. What're all the long looks for?"
Her weight shifts and she clears her throat. "Well, it seems the General has made an alliance with the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force and as a show of good faith, he's sending one of our best soldiers to their side."
You raise an eyebrow. "The Director General himself? Who could be important enough from our team that he'd send so far across the seas?"
She coughs.
OH.
"Maybe, I don't know, the youngest female to make Vice Captain in the shortest amount of time? Maybe someone with, I don't know, Japanese background?"
Yup.
You can't decide if you're honored, nervous, scared, or excited. You haven't been back home in so long. Will it still be the same? The same restaurants, the same stores, the same people. Will they still be waiting for you?
"You fly out at 1200."
Your brows furrow. "You're giving me 4 hours to pack up all my things and say goodbye to everyone? That's ridiculous."
She nods sympathetically. "I know. But he wants to get this show on the road, it seems."
You sigh. "Alright. I'll head back to my place, please assemble the squad before I go so I can give everyone my best wishes."
You pack up your entire apartment in two hours. You have less things than you thought you did. You guess that some small subconscious part of you kept you from collecting too many things that would keep you grounded here. Maybe you always knew you'd return home.
It takes even less time to say bye to everyone. You're ready to ship out in just under three hours and the pilot shrugs, saying you're his only passenger anyway and he can afford to leave early. The Director General lent you his private plane after all.
You can't do anything about your nerves so you make the best of this trip, ordering lavish foods while you read. Your favorite book is one that Soshiro bought for you and the ink from the personal message he wrote on the inside of the front cover is so faded from you constantly rubbing your thumb over it nostalgically.
Soshiro. You'll be there soon.
You sleep through most of the flight. You dream about him again, to no one's surprise at this point.
This time you're both 17, you both snuck out of training together to attend a typical high school party. You were in agreement that the two of you wanted one normal high school experience before you both went off and joined the Defense Force and became stiff, disciplined officers. Of course, you'd tease Soshiro that you couldn't see him ever being stiff or disciplined.
Anyway, you'd been playing spin the bottle and Soshiro's spin landed on you and the both of you ended up in a closet together.
"Well this is a stupid game." He grumbled as he searched for the light to the closet. He would never make you do anything against your will and he found it ridiculous that that's exactly what this game was made for.
But you didn't find it ridiculous. You found it lucky. Your heart was beating loudly in your chest. You grabbed his hand before it reached the light switch and you kissed him in the dark.
He hesitated and then he kissed you back, gently pressing you up against the wall.
When someone knocked on the door seven minutes later, he locked the door and stayed in there with you until he was ready to leave. He must've known if the two of you stepped outside, you'd both go back to acting like nothing happened. Like you had plenty of time to figure out these messy feelings of yours. But neither of you could predict that you wouldn't even be in the same country as him a month later, so you both kept ducking the topic and pushing your feelings for each other down. And then it was too late.
Six years too late, you thought to yourself as your eyes fluttered open. The plane was descending. You were arriving in Japan as last.
You wondered who you'd be serving under and if Soshiro would be in the same platoon. The JAKDF had several divisions, it wasn't guaranteed that you'd even be in the same one as him. You'd been told that the position of Vice Captain had been recently opened at one of the Divisions and you were there to fill that spot. You'd do your best to fill the shoes of whoever came before you and make your team back in America proud.
As you step out of the plane you're greeted by your new teammates in the Third Division. Your eyes scan the crowd and they finally find the person they're looking for.
Your breath catches in your throat and you freeze on the last step of the plane.
He holds a hand out to you to help you down all the way.
"Welcome to the Third Division. I'm Captain Hoshina."
You take his hand and step down the last stair. You don't let go of his hand even when he's introducing you to the troops. You think this might be you dreaming about him again and you don't dare let go just in case.
He doesn't seem to mind. He keeps a firm grip on you and when you've finally greeted everyone he tells them he needs to discuss more matters with you privately.
The two of you enter his office and he closes the door behind him. Before you can speak, he's wrapped you up in a warm hug. "Vice Captain, huh? Impressive." He whispers, still holding you close.
You close your eyes and just soak in his voice. "Not as impressive as you- Captain Hoshina. And here I always thought I'd beat you to Captain when we were kids."
He chuckles and the familiar rumble of his laughter makes your heart skip several beats. He releases you from his arms so he can get a good look at you, but he still holds your hands tight in his. "I really never thought I'd see you again. And look at you now. Gorgeous as ever."
You blush. "Still cheeky I see."
He grins widely. "Still me. Always."
You're relieved. He doesn't seem to have changed at all, just gotten a little taller. And a little more... you gulp, a lot more muscular. You didn't realize it when he was holding you close because you were so focused on the way he smelled and the way he sounded. But now that you were getting a full view of him, you could see the efforts of his training peeking through his shirt. You blush deeper. Thank god he's a little dense and doesn't notice. He's just excited to see you again, he doesn't care if you're flushed or not.
"Hey- dinner on me later? We can go to that diner we liked." He nudges your arm.
You smile. "Yeah? I'm game, especially if you're buying."
He walks you to your room and then leaves you alone to unpack your things. You wish he wouldn't go but you know he has a division to run.
"Captain." You say to yourself, shaking your head. You hoped he would be in the same division as you, but you never could've imagined he'd be working this closely with you. You'll have to pay a visit to the shrine later and thank the gods.
You finish unpacking and you meet Soshiro for dinner in the cutest outfit you can find. You wonder if he'll notice.
He notices.
"So you don't wear the combat suit 24/7?" He teases.
You roll your eyes thinking he's not going to say anything else but then he looks away for a moment.
"You, um... you look real good."
You wonder where his confidence from earlier went. He can get away with calling you gorgeous but now here he is making the word "good" look difficult. You almost laugh.
He opens the door to the restaurant for you and then when you're led to a table, he pulls the chair out for you. You don't remember him being such a gentleman but he was still a teenager last time you saw him. It seems he has grown some after all.
As you eat dinner, you fall back into old rhythms- you steal food off of his plate and he does the same to yours. You even sword fight him with your chopsticks and he laughs the same familiar laugh that you love so much.
Then the drinks start to hit harder and the air seems to change between the two of you.
"So listen..." He starts, cautiously. He seems to get caught up in his own thoughts because he doesn't finish his sentence.
"I'm listening." You nudge him.
He gives you a small, pinched smile. "I don't know how to say this actually." He admits.
You wonder if he's thinking what you're thinking, but it's been so long you can't be sure. "You can say anything to me, you know that." You try to reassure him so that he continues.
He sighs. "Do you... remember going to a party? Back in high school?"
Ah. So he is thinking the same thing as you. You nod slowly.
He clears his throat uncomfortably. "Do you... remember what happened at that... party?"
You nod again, your cheeks starting to heat up at the thought of that mind-blowing kiss.
"It's just... we never... we never talked about it. And then you were just gone- just like that. And I know it's stupid to be bringing it up again so many years later, but you're the exact same as you've always been and I'm the same as I've always been and I just thought..." He trails off.
"You just thought...?" You lean in, hoping to god he finishes his sentence.
"I just thought... maybe now we could... talk about it? If-if you wanted."
"Okay, what do you have to say about it?"
He laughs at that. "Boy, you really don't make this easy do you? You never have."
"Sorry. I'll go first then, okay?"
He nods and waits for you to speak.
"I regretted it for six years."
He winces.
You backtrack. "Wait, sorry that's not how it was supposed to come out. Now you're making this hard."
You both laugh. Then he takes your hand.
"I think what you meant to say was you regretted leaving it the way we did?"
You nod. You're glad he's still able to understand you so well even after all these years.
"I do too. I thought, god, if I could just get one chance to tell her how I felt I'd do it. And now you're here and I'm stumbling over my words. But I need to say this. Because I can't wait another six years for you to find out that I love you. Because I love you. Always did, and still do."
You start to cry before you even realize it's happening. He immediately rushes over to your side of the table to brush the tears away.
"Hey, hey, did I say something wrong? Tell me. What's going on in that beautiful mind of yours?"
You can't figure out how to put the words together properly so you kiss him. He kisses you back more intensely than he did back then and you wish you can just freeze time so he can keep kissing you like this. Then he pulls away.
"You know, love, I like the way you're thinking but you still haven't given me an official answer."
You laugh. "I love you too- I should think it was obvious."
"Some of us only have half the brain that you do and need verbal confirmation."
"You got that right." You tease.
He wraps you up tight in his arms.
"So does this make us boyfriend-girlfriend?" He asks in his best "high schooler" voice, grinning like an idiot from ear to ear.
You roll your eyes. "Take me to the prom and we'll see about that."
He laughs. "Just let me date you already damnit."
You kiss him again.
"Was that a yes?"
You nod.
"Okay, again, I'm just checking."

Hi, I wanted to write ghoul’s night out antics, so here it is. This is pointless, they’re just being chaotic.
It’s late, the ghouls are all different degrees of drunk, it’s getting harder to maintain their glamor up in the dim light of the bar, and Swiss and Ifrit can’t keep their hands off of each other.
They’re probably the drunkest out of the little group that decided to go get drinks in town this otherwise boring Thursday night, and it shows.
Swiss has a hand in Ifrit’s back pocket, an impressive fit given the vacuum sealed black jeans he’s wearing, groping the fire ghoul’s ass without any shame whatsoever. Ifrit isn’t much better, two hands shoved under Swiss’ shirt, roaming unsubtly on warm skin.
They’re swaying clumsily to the music, so close their foreheads keep knocking together, giggling and blushing in between heated kisses.
« Too much tongue, » Mist comments idly from her chair, spinning her beer bottle in her hands, « why do they always put too much tongue ? »
Rain shrugs on the stool next to her.
« Swiss likes it messy. »
« And Alpha taught Ifrit, » Pebble adds in a snigger that gets cut short when Alpha kicks his chair already kept in a precarious balance on two legs, sending Pebble sprawling on the floor.
Dew silences them with an annoyed hush, invested in the two ghouls all over themselves a few feet away.
Swiss is mouthing at Ifrit’s neck now, the fire ghoul melting against him, hips canting up and knocking against Swiss’.
« Fritter’s getting worked up, » Aether chuckles, rubbing circles in the back of Dew’s hand.
« Bet his tail would be wagging if he were unglamored, » Pebble hums, still rubbing his elbow with a glare in Alpha’s direction, only looking away when the fire ghoul grins feral at him.
« ´s cute, » Mist huffs. She tilts her head back to down the rest of her bottle, gently knocking knees with Rain.
It is, in a way. At least until Ifrit scrambles for Swiss’ waist, pushing their hips together again. They rearrange themselves, heads on each other’s shoulders, in what could be a way to accommodate the slower romantic music, if not for the way their hips relentlessly grind together.
They’re too drunk for subtlety, and what little costumers are still hanging around couldn’t miss what’s going on even if they tried to.
With a snort, Dew slouches against Aether, drumming his fingers on the arm the quint wrapped around his shoulders.
« Should we separate them, for decency’s sake, or wait and see how far they’ll go ? »
« C’mon, puddle, we all know you like the second option better, » Mist points out. She tries to take another swing from her bottle, only to to be reminded it’s empty. Aether hands her his, still half full, which she returns with a nod after a long sip.
The unmistakable sound of a half choked moan reaches their too keen to be human ears, Ifrit visibly biting his lip raw to keep some semblance of silence.
« Never been a quiet one, Ifrit. He’s gonna embarrass himself before the end of the song, I’m calling it, » Alpha huffs, now manspreading the day away next to Pebble, who, surprisingly, doesn’t protest.
Rain shakes his head, throwing his long legs on Dew’s lap.
« Nah, I have faith in him. He’ll hold on for two songs. »
« Oh you’re on, tadpole. »
With all their staring at Swiss and Ifrit, everyone misses Alpha’s hand slipping under the jacket thrown on Pebble’s lap, the way the earth ghoul tenses, a muscle twitching in his jaw, before he seemingly helplessly give in, legs parting slightly more.
Everyone but Mist, who sinks more comfortably in her seat to wait for when they’ll inevitably get kicked out.
Who’s fault it will be is yet to be determined.
#Hehehhehe#i don’t really know what this is but here you go#this is the kind of fun pointless stuff I like to write when I’m having a bit of a writting block#helps me get my motivation and inspiration back#swiss ghoul#ifrit ghoul#mist ghoulette#alpha ghoul#pebble ghoul#dewdrop ghoul#rain ghoul#aether ghoul#nameless ghouls#the band ghost

Don’t Leave Me.
~AGED UP Neteyam x Na’vi reader
~Angst, fluff?
~Proofread?-no
~Summary-Y/n grew up in a home with conditional love.
***
Your parents didn't love each other. Everyone believed they did, it was all a facade it seems you were the only one to notice. You noticed first when you were seven it was after you saw your friend's parents kiss. “Why don’t you kiss mama?” you asked your father as he got you ready for bed.
“Your mother is not faithful honey,” he smiled as he pets your head, “she brings special friends here who daddy don't like,” you frowned, “but it’s okay because daddy has friends as well,” you titled your head, “why?”
“That doesn't concern you, now you can't tell anyone about her friends,” you nodded, “good because if you did me and mama could get into a lot of trouble and they’d take you away,” you shook your head as you hugged, ‘i don't wanna live!”
“You won’t pretty baby, just make sure not to say anything,” you nodded as he laid you down to sleep. At the time, you didn't understand what he meant by special friends but as you become older you caught on.
“Honey come to meet my friend!” your mother dragged you to meet an older man. He smiled at you which made you uncomfortable, “don't be rude say hi,” your mother faked a laugh, “hi,” you gave a small wave.
The man just laughed before pulling your mom away, your father barely touched your mother the way this man did, “honey you can't tell daddy my friend came over,” your mother stumbled to where you sat, “why?”
She laughed before rolling, “because he’d get so mad and you don't want to see us fight?” you just looked at your feet, “your father has so many standards you know,” she made you look at her, “right before we had you we were so in love, he loved me,” she stood up walking a little way in front of you.
“But after you, he became distant he barely even held you so I confronted him,” her voice broke as she spoke, “he told me he could barely stare at me because I was ugly and that having you was a mistake,” tears swelled in your eyes, “if you ever wonder why we don't love each other it's because of you, [Y/n].”
You shook your head, “daddy loves me,” you sobbed as your mother grabbed your chin, “and he loved me too, till you came now he can't even look at me,” she threw you on the floor. “You were the worst thing to happen to me.” with that she left you crying on the floor.
She’d say cruel things like that to you all the time, she’d always make remarks about your body, or how you should act if you expect to find a mate, and the older you became the harsher her words.
But outside, it was a different story. Your parents hugged, and they laughed together it was almost like they were two different people, “smile,” your mother whispered in your ears while pinching you. You smiled, you had no other choice your father may have looked happy to everyone else but you could tell he wanted to leave.
He wasn't a party person that was your mother, your father enjoyed spending time with small groups of people. You took after him in this aspect.
At these parties, you never knew where he’d go. He would be there in the beginning and then disappear till it was time to go. One time you wandered away from the party, it was boring and the Sully kids weren't there.
You kept walking till you heard laughter, you followed it then you saw it. A woman sat on your father's lap, she kissed him to which he gladly accepted. You stepped back which made a loud sound causing everyone's heads to turn. You sprinted back not caring to look back to see if your father would try to explain himself.
“I’m not feeling well,” you tapped your mother's shoulder as she spoke with her friends, “you can head back it's okay,” you walked home and cried yourself to sleep. That day you learned what a special friend really was.
If there were to be a ranking system, your family would fall closely under the Sullys.
You played with the Sully kids here and there, but they were far too busy as you all grew up to play with anyone as they were stuck with chores or “duties.” But that didn't stop the attraction you felt for Neteyam. You were scared to get into a relationship with him.
What if he fell out of love with you? What if he decided one day he wanted a special friend? All these thoughts clogged your head so you never did much about your crush.
The fear of ending up as your parents haunted you, unhappy and forced to live with someone who hates your guts.
“Hey [Y/n]!” you smiled and waved, “Hello Neteyam!” he was so nice. He always made time out of his day to talk with you. If you were ever in a group setting, he took extra steps to make you were heard and alright. Your heart couldn't help but beat faster because of him.
You wanted to be with him, but how would you know if he was faithful to you? What ifs flagged your mind it became to the point you couldn't do your chores. “She’s so lazy it's actually shocking she’s even mine,” your mother snickers with her friends.
You just ignored her, there was no point in speaking up she’d just attack you more. You prayed to Ewya that one day you’d be taken away from this place you called home, you prayed and you prayed. But it felt like you weren't being answered.
“Just make a move on her already,” Lo’ak groaned as Neteyam stared at you. “She’s always in her own world I don't even think she’ll say yes.” Neteyam has loved you since forever and it felt like you barely even looked his way. “You won't know till you try.”
His brother was right, but he didn't know how to approach you. You always had something to do, and he didn't want to just pop the question. You’d obviously say no, and he didn't want to scare you off.
He has never felt like this for someone before. The feeling that you want to spend every waking moment with them, that you want to see them with your children happy and playing together all these feelings were new to him.
So, he decided to take it slow. He slowly started inserting himself into your schedule, you had to help carry boxes? Don't worry Neteyam does too! This way he is able to get close to you but also not make it seem weird or awkward.
His plan worked the two of you became close, constantly having inside jokes, always around each other it was all working out perfect for him.
If you were scared before you were now petrified. The more time you spent with Neteyam the more you felt yourself falling in love with him. It was upsetting because you believed you had the same fate as your mother.
“We all end up like our parents,” it was a phrase thrown around so easily and for some, it might've been a blessing but for you it sounded like a curse.
To end up as that woman sounded like hell, so if you had to die alone to avoid that outcome, you would.
It was a hard pill to chew, give up happiness but you didn't know what else to do, “you know I pity your mate,” your mother laughed as she ate, “he must be drunk the day you two get together.”
You had enough of her bullying, her degrading words, she was your mother she was supposed to uplift you and make you feel safe and wanted and she has done the opposite.
You looked at her teary-eyed, “why do you hate me so much,” it was becoming too much, her words, her everything you could only take so much. “Oh, you always rub it in my face how i’m going to die alone or how I look, if it isn't one thing it's another why?” she only looked at you.
She walked over to you before smacking you across the face, “I don't know who you think you're raising your voice at because it's not me.” you held your cheek before running out.
You were fed up if that was even the right term to express your anger. You stomped across the forest before you stumbled upon the person you wanted to avoid, Neteyam.
“[Y/n]! I haven't seen you in forever!” he smiled as he ushered you closer, “we saw each other this morning,” you faked a smile, “which was ages ago!”
You laughed, it was genuine though he had this thing where he could light a room up. You wish you had a fraction of his happiness. You knew of his hardships, you understood why he was so mature even though you two were barely twenty.
“What's on your pretty little mind?” He smiled at you as he watched the stars you giggled, “why are you out here so late?”
The boy shrugged, “just wanted to see the stars,” you nodded at his answer, “I probably should head back,” Neteyam did not want to leave.
He wanted to rest here with you and talk but he promised his parents he’d watch over his sister.
A panic overcame you, it was instant and you didn't know why. Your heart rate picked up, “you should stay longer and watch the sky!”
He wasn't your mate, but you just felt this pull that he needed to be here with you. You couldn't explain lit in words.
He smiled looking at them, “I’d love to but I have to,” an excuse. Your mother always had one right before she left to see her friends.
What if Neteyam had a special friend and you spent too much time thinking if you wanted to be with him? “Are you sure? I bet they wouldn't notice if you were gone for ten minutes.”
Neteyam smiled that you wanted to hang out, I want to believe-,” you cut him off, “I can cook,” his head turned to look at you, “what?”
“I can cook, clean, heal, and hunt,” you stood up looking at him, “I can sew, I can carry heavy weights, and-,” he stopped you, “why are you saying this?”
Your eyes welled up, he did have someone else it didn't matter what you had or what you could do, “I can do anything you ask of me Neteyam,” you sobbed as he pulled you into a hug, “please, please don't leave me!”
His eyes widen, “[Y/n], I promise I’d never leave you,” he didn't know where this came from, “I like you, I’d never dream of hurting you.”
He went to go pick up your face and when he touched you, your face winced. He moved your face a little letting your cheek hit the sun. A bruise appeared and Neteyam’s eyes became hooded, he didn't care that he had to watch his sister. He wanted to know who would raise their hand to hit you.
“Who hit you?” you backed up a little touching your cheek, “it was nothing I-,” Neteyam came closer grabbed your hand, and kissed it, “I don't want to ask you again.”
You looked at him, he looked different not the warm boy you saw just minutes ago, “[Y/n], who the fuck hit you?”
***
Heyyyy!! Guys I ain't be able to write till Saturday :( but if I can find time I’ll definitely try! Hope you enjoy love you all!!!!

The colonel daughter (3)
The past and future had been reunited once again after many years apart, and not on the way of reunion that many others had pictured. Right now everyone had been brought back but there was many, things need to be discussed as things were not normal at all. There was so much that need to be unpacked that had effected many lives, from fifteen years ago and longer as well.
y/n " we are almost there a bit kore walking but we will be there"
lyle " thanks for letting us come with you"
y/n " you are all my family and friends I was not going to leave you all out there"
Quaritch " we will make sure to pull our weight around the village"
y/n " we will get to that later on but right now we need to make sure, everything good with the kids and you all as well"
Z dog " thanks y/n"
spider " mom are we sure that sempu will be okay with them coming to the village, even most of the clan will not be happy about it"
y/n " yes that might be the faith but we will discuss it out my son" spider had nodded his head as the group kept on walking and walking, after a bit of climbing here and there the group was almost there.
Lyle " wait what if the RDA tacks us"
y/n " you all will be safe it seems like the rda didn't use anything to track you all"
Quaritch " so it seems like we were their lab rats and anything else they gave us we ditched along time ago"
lo'ak " if need the humans had step up some things stopping track, and it seems like the great mother cut off the rda as well" quaritch had nodded his head at what he had been told, as the group had kept on walking and walking. When they soon saw some light getting everyone attention.
tuk " we are home"
y/n " yes we are baby girl now come on let get there because I have a feeling, your fathers are worried enough right now"
Walker " what if they don't let us come inside the village"
lopez " yes we all know the RDA is not everyone number one fan"
y/n " it will be okay we will bring to speak with my husband and mo'at and then we shall see what happens next, but no harm shall come" The recoms had nodded their heads as they soon followed you and the kids towards the village, and it didn't take them long enough to go unnoticed as some warriors had seen them. Soon enough everyone else had been told of what was going on, as many navi had gather around to see what was going on.
neytiro " ma y/n children you are finally home we were about to come looking for you all"
y/n " no need to worry we are finally home"
Jake " is everything okay we had been told lo'ak and kiri had left home with tuk, and hadn't come home so you and the boys went to go find them"
y/n " yes we had went to go find them and we did as you can clearly see, but there were some others with the kids when we had reunited with them"
mo'at " who are these others are they other navi from other clans"
y/n " well no mo'at they are people from the past"
Jake " what are you talking about y/n"
norm " we came when we had been told y/n and the kids had return, what with everyone right now"
?????? " hello Jake sully it has been a while hasn't it" the crowds attention had soon turn to the recoms standing there, the soliders from the dead had come back to life once again.
Jake " quaritch and his team"
neytiro " how are you all alive you dead all those years ago"
y/n " neytiro no the kids had ran into them when they were out, it seems like the rda has used avatar to bring those from the dead back alive"
neytiro " kids get over here not stand near them for your safety"
lo'ak " when tuk had fallen from the tree they help her up, they mean us no harm"
neytiro " why did you bring them here after what the rda has done to our people"
y/n " I was not going to leave them out there for the rda to use them as puppets"
mo'at " y/n is right it will be wrong to them out there but let see more" mo'at had brought out her knife and walked towards, the recoms and poke them each.
lopez " well that hurt it good to know pain still a thing"
neteyam " she is testing to see if it true"
mo'at " many years ago the sky people warriors had been our enemies, but it seems like they have been given a second chance in life to either see our ways or stay with the evil force from above"
max " so you are telling us the rda had brought you all back alive"
quaritch " yes they had told us my daughter had been killed, due to the navi and that we need to bring in the leaders of the navi rebellion against the rda"
Jake " so quaritch you are going to bring us in and take us away from our family and the clan ... have the rda come here and ruin all our lives again"
Z dog " wait hold up so these kids here are your kids"
Jake " yes"
neytiro " they are my children as well"
Z dog " they are also y/n kids as well making you three a couple, aka your her husbands"
neytiro " yes we are do you have a problem with that"
Z dog " nope just asking for some clarification that all"
mo'at " Jake sully and y/n had come here many years ago, to learn but are you all willing to learn as well we have taught many sky people as you can see and have been told" the recoms had looked and saw grace old them standing in the village, and soon looked at you and Jake.
quaritch " yes we are willing to learn we know the mistakes we have, made in the past can't be forgive right away but we hope you will give us a chance"
mo'at " I think it will be great opportunity Jake and neytiro what do you, all have to say about this"
Jake " even due we all have our own relationships with each other for myself and grace team. but maybe we can give this a chance"
norm " yes it will be good and we can get medical checks up properly"
max " we all so need the allies we can get at the moment"
Jake " remember this doesn't fully take back what the rda has done to avatar team, and anyone else who didn't follow the rda agenda"
lyle " thank you"
y/n " neytiro"
neytiro " they can stay as my mother has deemed it right, and if the great mother has let them get this far maybe she has given them another chance as well"
quaritch " thank you"
neytiro " if any of you try anything that will harm my family or the clan, it will be the last thing you do in this life and if you come back I will make you all pay again and again" neytiro showed his teeth and hissed at them.
spider " sempu"
neytiro " I'm being as nice as I can be to them after what they have done, and others here think the same I'm not alone"
mo'at " my people we have new guests who will be staying with us, they will learn our ways and we shall see if they use this second chance right or wrong in the end"
Jake " there are some homes you all can stay in that will be good"
quaritch " thank you" It was easy to tell this will be not an easy situation, but you had shown your father and your friends where they will be staying. As the kids had been taken home by their fathers and all the other families had returned to their homes.
y/n " this home will be big enough for you all to share, until you decide if you which to live in your own homes once you settle in and make new lives"
lopez " thank you"
y/n " your welcome"
quaritch " it seems like your husbands don't like us very much"
y/n " yes what had happened fifteen years ago had effected everyone"
quaritch " I and my team understand"
lyle " so we are going to be watched closely"
y/n " yes you are and it going to be a challenge are you all ready for that"
mansk " we are ready for anything you know us so well"
y/n " yes I do I will leave you all to get settled for the night and see you in the morning"
quaritch " yes and y/n it good to see you again my daughter"
y/n " it good to see you again dad and my friends as well" you had hugged your dad and friends goodnight, as you soon left heading back home. To see your mates and kids gather around for dinner making you smile.
tuk " mama you are home"
y/n " yes I'm I had to make sure our guests had gotten squared in"
lo'ak " will we be seeing them tomorrow mom"
y/n " yes we can see them tomorrow as they will be starting their lesson"
neteyam " who will be teaching them"
neytiro " I and Jake had been told by your grandmother we will be the teachers"
Jake " there will be others as well to help teach them"
spider " can we help see that they are family"
neytiro " no you shall not help them we and your mother, along with other adults will deal with that matter"
y/n " neytiro"
neytiro " I know what you and my mother will say so we can give it a try, but if anything happens the kids are no longer involved until it safe or at all" the family had ate dinner and the kids had went to bed after at, while the parent stayed awake.
neytiro " ma y/n"
y/n " yes I know your true feelings about you matter and I won't make you change them as you have all right to feel that way"
neytiro " thank you ma y/n but how are you dealing with this whole situation"
y/n " well I'm happy they are back but I hope there no sad ending coming"
Jake " we will be here for you throughout this whole process, now I will be explaining to your father why I disobey his orders on staying away from you"
y/n " oh Jake"
Jake " what I love you and I will defend that as well"
neytiro " I as well ma y/n now come on let retire to bed" you and your mates had went off to bed in hopes for a brand new day in the morning to come for them all. As this journey will not be easy for anyone and it will make them, all think about the past and process where they are all right now.

Prompt: “I feel like I can breathe better with you around.”
Song: I’ll Keep You Safe – Sleeping At Last
For Reader x Tolya please?
So, I'm a /little/ obsessed with TMA, and honestly that might show a little in this one because I just had THOUGHTS and I went okay let's apply that to Tolya for bestie.
If It's You Or The World, I Am Still Choosing You - Tolya Yul Bataar
Content Warnings: Canon Compliant Threat And Violence. Discussions Of Sacrifice, Death, Bereavement And Loss. Not Beta/Proof Read.
The look on Alina's face says more than you ever wanted to know. To Alina, Mal is the only consistent, the only thing that kept her moving when she felt she could not go on, they were each other's home, each others compass, the place the other was only ever trying to come back to. And now Alina was faced with the most awful choice, the place she had sworn to protect, the people she had sworn to protect, the fight she has been fighting day and night, the justice and the revenge she sought, it came at a price. She knew it would. Baghra had always said it would. But this price, this price was steeper than she thought it would ever be. She was willing to die for her cause, but Mal's life being held as the cost of winning, the cost of survival against the evil she wanted gone, that had her doing something she hadn't thought she was still able to do until now: she is hesitating.
The words that everyone is saying aren't passing into your mind, you're overwhelmed, and if you feel like this you can only imagine how Alina is feeling, and that dread wraps its way around your throat and you feel like the life is being choked right out of you. Tolya's hand gently taps against your arm and you don't even look at him to nod, and he is walking beside you gently, as you both exist the room.
The air is cold, and the brisk nature of it all starts a reset. "Can I help?" Tolya asks.
“I feel like I can breathe better with you around.” It's not a new admission, you're sure you've told him this a million times, and you will tell him a million more, more than likely. For everything in your life can be chaos, and Tolya he is always your north star. Has been from the day you met.
You sink into the stone floor and lean your back against the outer wall, and Tolya leans down and sits beside you, not saying a word, but those golden eyes watching you reminds you of what knocked you breathless to begin with. That price.
Any other price, you would pay it. The only cost that would be too much, is him. If you could never see him again, but you knew he was alive and well, you could live with that, you could make peace with that. But to know the only way to save everyone, was for him to die. That's too much for most, and it would be too much for you. So no, not any small part of you envied Alina and the bargain she has to strike with the Saints. If you still believed it was between her and the Saints. The amplifiers makes things muddy, they're creations from true magic, not the Small Science and true magic... it's wild, and the price is always too high. This price feels too high.
"Nothing is fair," you say, just above the sounds of your heavy breathing, "not even in love and war. Especially in love and war."
"Your empathy," he says, offering a hand, "that's what's caused this?"
"I couldn't," you tell him honestly, "I could not do what is needed of Alina, to part with the person who means the most to me, for the sake of everything, I know that is selfish, but I couldn't do it."
"It's a tall ask," Tolya admits, you do not ask him where he stands, you shy away from too much analysis of faith when it comes to the Saints. Not because you're scared of the answers Tolya might give you, but because you're scared to put him on the spot, and to see what answers he might give himself.
"I would choose you," you admit, knowing he probably already knows it, but knowing you need to tell him anyway. "I would choose you and I wouldn't even allow myself a moments doubt in the matter. How could I? Because this war, this fight, it's for freedom, it's for love and life and what is right, and my life is better for you being in it. This place is better for the moments you spend in it, and I could not take you out of this world in the name of saving it, that would not be saving this place, it would be worse for the loss of you."
"And you are willing to die for it," Tolya states.
"Aren't you?"
"I am," he says. "We all are."
"But death and sacrifice are not the same," you say, "I would not choose to die, but to die I am willing, and yet to lose you is to lose something bigger than the war."
"You may value me too highly," Tolya says, wrapping an arm around you. "But I guess that makes us both fools. For if I lose you to win the war, the war would not have been won for me."

Male Ronal X Fem Metkayina Reader Final
Part 1, Part 2
You indulged yourself with Ron'ek the night before because if he was lying, at least you enjoyed yourself with him, and you could always fight him or avoid him. You wondered what happened with Yira'vo and Ranari. You hoped they got together or something; they would make a really good couple and would have beautiful children. When you left the Marui, you had a weird feeling in your stomach but ignored it as you made your way to breakfast; breakfast with the clan didn't always happen, but when organized by the Olo'eyktan, it did. You walked along the beach and kept getting looks which you found weird but ignored. If they were going to be weird, you would ignore everyone. You didn't need that this early.
"Who does she think she is, going after the Olo'eyktan." You picked up on what they said, which meant Toni'va told everyone and anyone who would listen to her lies. Great. Fantastic.
"As if he would go after someone like her." You weren't sure about that, especially since his head was between your legs as an apology. You liked that apology. You had to keep a smirk from playing on your lips but lost when Yira came running at you and took a leap of faith, knowing you would catch her.
"MA Y/N, I HAVE GREAT THINGS TO TELL YOU! WONDERFUL EVENTS!" She wrapped her arms and legs tightly around you like she always does and had her mouth by your ear to whisper whatever she needed to tell you. Before she could speak, you turned your head, covering your mouth to whisper near her ear.
"Does it have to do with Ranari?" She gasped and nodded rapidly before explaining in detail what had happened and how they had both enjoyed themselves and ended up bonding.
"NO WAY THAT HAPPENED!" You almost threw her if not for her tight grip on you, expecting the excited attempted toss. You didn't care who was watching as you walked slowly to the breakfast place on the inland part of the beach so the few clan members couldn't eavesdrop.
"Yes, it did! We saw what happened with you and Toni'va and how Ron'ek took you away..." She trailed off, giving you a knowing smirk, and you couldn't hide the blush, and your tail wagged in embarrassment when she yelled.
"YES! YES! I KNEW IT! HE WAS RIGHT! I WAS RIGHT!" You had to shush her despite the giggling, and you both took a tumble from giggling so much. She finally let you go as you both stood up, and she grabbed your hands, jumping up and down in place, and you couldn't help the smile. "Tell me! Tell me now!" You were about to but were interrupted.
"Tell you what?" You both turned to see Ranari there, grinning from ear to ear. Oh, this was perfect. You let go of Yira, and Ranari wasted no time grabbing her by the waist and kissing her cheek, which had you jumping up and down and clapping your hands in excitement.
"Please, kiss her in front of Ivete. Ivete has a crush on you and thought you would choose her and treat Yira mean. Please, for the love of Eywa, kiss Yira in front of that whore." Yira started slapping your arm in excitement and laughing.
"You're so evil; that's why I love you, Tsumke!" She hugged you tightly and turned back to face Ranari, who was watching the two of you with a content smile. The straggling clan members were the parents and elders who smiled at the three of you. "Her and Ron'ek had their own fun last night as well." You rolled your eyes playfully but couldn't stop smiling. Ranari pulled you in for a tight hug and rubbed your back.
"I'm so happy. He's liked you for so long but was always too nervous to approach you. I'm glad you finally have each other. Is he going to announce it during breakfast?" You were stunned that he liked you, and if his best friend confirms it...
"Now I know you are lying." You jumped and turned around to see Toni'va with her friends. Her nose was still swollen, and you smirked. "It's a shame that you would lie to her, knowing I am the one he wants. I am to be Tsahik, and I am to be his mate, and once we bond under the eyes of Eywa, I'll be sure to banish you." She said it so matter of factly that you both stared at each other tensely and laughed in her face. She looked offended and hissed at you, but you didn't hiss back.
"We will see about that, Toni'va, or did you forget that the only ones who can make that decision are Olo'eyktans, and he will not banish me." She clenched her fist and swung at you, but you caught it, held it, and leaned forward to get in her face. "Temper, temper, my sweet. It is not befitting of you." You pulled back and shoved her to get space between the two of you, and you stepped back to be beside Ranari and Yari. She hissed at you again and stomped away to breakfast, and you waited until she was out of sight for the three of you to start walking.
"She's going to be so disappointed." You nodded.
"Of course she is; she's going to cry, she's going to hiss and scream at me, try to fight me, but that is her fault for believing lies instead of going to the source and finding the truth." Nothing else was said as you slowed down, allowing them to make an entrance together, and you stood outside listening to the gasps and whispers, followed by hurrying footsteps. You stepped aside just in time to avoid a crying Ivete; you only felt slightly bad for her because she never was crazy for him, but you can't help how someone feels. You took a breath and entered, half the conversation stopping, and you glared at the half under Toni'va's thumb. How stupid and naive.
"Look who decided to show up." You sighed and were going to continue walking but paused at the call of your name. You looked up to see Ron'ek grinning ear to ear and staring at you.
"Come here, ma Y/N." Uproar. You expected the shrill shriek from Toni'va as you smiled and made your way to Ron'ek. You waved at your gawking parents and Ron'eks parents, who were just as stunned. Once you were in his vicinity, he pulled you down to sit next to him, and he pecked you on the lips, making you grin ear to ear at him. He actually did it.
"IT'S HER! I LOST TO HER!? WHY?" Ron'ek looked up at the people for the first time and locked eyes with a fuming Toni'va, who had tears in her eyes.
"You could never compete where you don't compare." He ate some breakfast, never breaking eye contact with her. "I did not choose you; I never will. I do not know why you and everyone else here thought I would. The one I want as my mate and Tsahik is Y/N. Not you, Toni'va." It was silent as tears rolled down her face, and she hissed angrily, threw her food, and disappeared, some of her friends following behind her. The rest of the clan stayed, silently watching everything unfold.
"Wow." You were in awe that he did it; he put her and the rest of the clan in their place. This was it; he really chose you. He cleared his throat to garner everyone's attention. You met Yira's eye to see she was smiling hard enough to split her face open, with Ranari mimicking her.
"Y/N will be my mate and my Tsahik. Whoever does not like it or approve of it must get over it. I have chosen her, and she has chosen me. We will begin preparations for the ceremony." And that was it. He had spoken, cleared the air, and made it known you were his and his only. This was all surreal, and you would have to thank Eywa for blessing you. He turned, this time facing you, and leaned down, smiling softly to whisper in your ear.
"Oel ngati kameie, nga yawne lu oer ma Tsahik." You were shocked, meeting his eyes to notice his pupils had grown in size the longer he stared at you. He loved you, and he saw you. As you smiled back at him, you knew your eyes looked the same.
"Oel ngati kameie, nga yawne lu oer ma Olo'eyktan."

I know it was short, but this was so cute, fluffy, and sweet. I made myself giggle and swing my feet. Let me know what you think!

Wash Day
Joel Miller x Layla (plus size OFC)
Fanfiction (all ages)
Masterlist / A03 link / Joel Miller Masterlist / Drops of Sugar Series
Summary: Layla has decided to wash her hair at home today since everyone is out, but she does end up receiving some excellent help.
Warnings: Just fluff and possible badly written southern accent
Notes: I do not look forward to washing my hair but I also don’t feel like paying salon prices. I was very self-indulgent with this. I want Joel Miller to do my hair while he talks to me. 🥰 Like that’s all. Not much. 🤣 I am also convinced that he knows how to care for hair. I saw Sarah's hair. That's all I'mma say. 😏
This is in the same vein as my two part Sugar stories with the same OFC. @legendary-pink-dot gave me a good idea for hair related stories 😝
Sugar part one (I’m your fool Sugar)
Sugar part two (Let me at them Nylons)
Today was a good day for it, Layla decided. It was a Saturday; Joel was working with Tommy on a contracting job that was running into overtime based on their client’s changing tastes. Sarah was out for a good portion for the day due to soccer and then she planned to study at a friend’s house afterward.
The woman stood in front of her mirror and combed out her hair. It wasn’t particularly long, past her shoulders when blown out, but it was extremely thick and sucked up moisture like a sponge, leaving it constantly dry. She removed her night gown and strode into the bathroom and looked to gather her hair products from the little caddy Joel had set up for her. Layla used to keep them under the sink but Joel said he they should be more accessible for her and bought the caddy while he had been out and attempted to organize her hair supplies. She chuckled, reminded of how he always rubs the back of his neck when he isn’t sure about something and she pulled him in for a kiss, reminded yet again at how observant he is.
The water from the shower felt good as she wet her hair and massaged her scalp, repeating the process while shampooing her hair and washing it out after. She let the water flow over her shoulders after applying the conditioner and washing her body. This was the main issue with doing her own hair sometimes, the strain on her shoulders from trying to care for all it, especially the back which she has difficulty reaching. After rising everything off, she stepped out of the shower and towel dried her hair, then wrapped it so the bathroom floor wouldn’t be completely drenched.
The front door closed downstairs; someone had just come home. Maybe Sarah had come early, was the soccer game canceled? She slipped on a simple sleeveless sundress; she didn’t have time for underwear. Heavy steps made their way up the stairs.
No not Sarah.
“Joel, what are you doing home honey?” Layla asked, sitting on the bed, going through her after wash hair supplies box she kept in the closet. Joel stood in the doorway, happy to see her in just a towel on her head. Layla chuckled, “Keep starting Joel. I’m not starting anything while this hair is wet though. I’ll be fit to be tied if it dries and knots up.” The contractor smiled and stood before her and kissed her forehead.
“Wouldn’t dream of it darlin’ looks like I’m rubbing off on ya. Me and my sayin’s.” He grinned. Really, they complemented each other well, Layla had become relaxed her speech some and even picked up a few of Joel’s phrases. Joel had in turn and relaxed slightly, not taking everything so seriously. He looked through her hair box. “Which order you use these in sugar? I can help. Did Sarah’s hair for a bit before Tommy married Maria and Sarah turned her back on her dad.” Layla giggled, Joel would view it that way, she nodded and handed him the detangling spray and a comb.
“I take it you know how to section it out. I have a lot of hair Miller as you well know. I’d like to keep most of it if you don’t mind.” She looked up at him smiling. This was a lot of faith she had in him, she trusted a select few with her hair outside of herself, her hairdresser and her mother, Joel was going to be the fourth if did well. Joel nodded and spayed her hair; he looked in her hair box and found some clips to help divide her hair as he separated it into eight sections. He pointed to the leather chair, and she moved as it was closer to the outlet. Plugging in the hair dryer, he then sprayed the heat protectant on it. Layla sat still she had been anxious but she hadn’t needed to tell him anything, Joel started drying, section by section. The heat and Joel’s large hands running her hair made her sigh. Her feet patted the floor, she was feeling chilled below her shoulders, but it was fine she could deal with a little cold as an exchange for someone else doing her hair.
The Texan smirked as he looked down, more than halfway done with drying, he was also spraying some leave in conditioner after he finished drying. Just on the ends, he knew he would need the grease for her scalp in a bit. After he finished the eight sections, he went over all her hair with the dryer one final time. “Well shit girl, I still got it.” Joel exclaimed, nodding to himself, admiring his work. Layla tipped her chin up to peer at Joel, she laughed.
“I guess you do Joel, but it’s not like you to leave a job unfinished love.” She reached up to grab his hand and pulled it to her lips, kissing the back of it. It smelled like the guava spray he had just used on her hair. “You’re almost done Miller.” Joel leaned down and kissed her cheek.
“S’alright sugar. I got ya.” Joel put down the dryer and reluctantly pulled his hand back. Lalya brought her chin back down and faced forward. The older Miller brother spooned out a handful of a green hair food, commonly called grease. It didn’t feel too dissimilar grease that Joel used on his tools, he rubbed it between his palms and start kneading her scalp, beginning at the back of her head, and working his way up. The sensation made Layla’s toes curl a bit, his strong fingers massaging the warm flesh beneath her hair, his thumbs worked toward the middle of her head while his other fingers spread outward to the fringes near her ears.
“God bless those hands of yours Joel Miller.” The woman moaned, taking hold of the arm rests of the hair and dug her fingers into the chair, her feet arched as she pressed the balls of her feet into the wooden floor. Joel watched as she was relishing the massage. A soft smile came upon his face. Of course, he loved watching as his love appeared to be getting aroused, but more than that, she was sharing more of herself with him. He knew that they came from very different backgrounds, it was moments like this where they bridged their gaps with their shared experiences. His hands worked his way to the top of her head, and he tied her hair in her usual updo as she preferred it off her neck. Joel wiped the excess spray and grease from her shoulders and neck and touched his lips to her neck. He then used the same town to get the grease off his hands.
“Yer all set Layla honey. Ya gonna recommend me?” He asked coyly, she stood and walked over to the mirror, appraising his work though her head felt ten times better than it usually did. Sugar whipped around, making her dress spin with her, and pointed at Joel, curling her finger to tell him to come hither. He put the supplies back in the box and did as she ruffled his curly brown locks, she leaned up to his nose, then his cheek and then his lips, lingering for a minute, Joel wrapped and arm around her wide waist, squeezing her as he did whenever she was near.
“No. Unless it’s Sarah, I don’t want you doing anyone else’s hair. I’m greedy when it comes to you Joel.” Her hand landed on the pocket of shirt, feeling his heartbeat as she laid her cheek on his chest. “Thank you, I’ve never had a man do my hair before. You have any openings in about two, three weeks tops?” She asked playfully looking up at him, her wide smile, made Joel’s frown at her initial no disappear. He tried not to smile as well, but he knew how infectious it was, the crinkles around his eyes gave him away already.
“I reckon I can make it work in two weeks. I’mma need a deposit from ya though Sugar.” His booming laugh filled the empty house with its echo, another ritual began at the Miller home.

Reuploading Chapter 5! Changed a lot about it! Gave it more thought! Here!
Percy felt sick to his stomach, looking at his shoulder, gushing with blood. His eyes darted up at Luke. What had he done to these kids that they'd turn out like this?
Luke looked at Leo in horror. He opened his mouth like he was gonna say something, but it's like he didn't know what to say.
Then, of course, there was Nico. He looked like he was about to cry. "Leo, please. Don't hurt him."
Leo gripped the knife tighter. "He let your sister die, why shouldn't I hurt him?"
Percy swallowed thickly. It was true, he hadn't been fast enough, strong enough. He should've protected her. He should've been the one to die. This was only fair.
Nico took Leo's hand in his own. "I... I don't want him to get hurt. Please, I..." He got choked up, and broke down in front of his best friend.
Leo opened his arms and let Nico fall into them. "It's the only way, Nico. We both know it. It's the only way for us to win."
Nico hated this. He wished there was a way to leave without going back to the gods. To try and topple them over without relying on the titans. He knew they'd be trading one set of dictators for another if they kept on like this.
Leo held him tighter. "Besides, it's not like he'll let us live."
That angered Percy more than anything, and he spoke through the pain.
"You really think... I'm heartless enough to kill you two?" He asked. "You're just kids. And Nico..." He sighed. "... Nico, all I've ever wanted was to protect you. I'm sorry I failed."
Nico was torn, and confused, and just wished he didn't have to choose.
Luke stepped forward. "I guess we're not that different, then." Luke held out a hand, offering it to Percy.
Don't do this. Please. You're my most valuable asset.
"So you finally admit it." Luke admitted under his breath. "You're powerless without me."
You'll regret this insolence, boy! I'll make your life hell!
Percy took his hand and pulled himself up. "... Does this mean you're coming back?"
Luke thought for a moment. He didn't want to face Chiron again, didn't want to be expected to admit he was wrong, to suck up to the olympians. But if that's what it took to ensure these kids' safety...
"... Fine." He brought Percy over to the cot Leo had been laying in, fixing up his arm.
This better be a trap. You better be spying.
Leo glared up at Luke. "So you're just gonna let him back into our lives when he screwed everyone over!?" His hands balled into fists by his sides. "You're a joke."
He's right.
Luke cut a length of bandage. "He's right. It's safer over there. Better food, real beds and wooden structures instead of tents. And an actual medbay instead of just letting you fend for yourselves when you're sick or hurt."
"Is that it?" Percy asked. "You're not coming back because you've realized you're wrong?"
Luke shrugged. "You actually take care of each other over there. The whole reason I left is because I was sick of the gods leaving us to fend for ourselves, but we do the same thing here. Survival of the fittest and all that."
Percy nodded thoughtfully, watching the bandage wrap around his arm. He still didn't trust Luke, but he was willing to do whatever got these kids to safety. Percy wondered why the other kid, Leo, look so hurt and watched as he stormed out in anger, Nico following him. They just noticed Faith at the tent looking confused and scared.
-------
"Leo what's wrong?" Nico asked following him close behind.
" 'What's wrong?!' We're watching our leader turn against us, that's what!"
"They hurt you. You passed out, he's protecting us."
" 'Protecting us'?! What?! Like Agnus?!" Leo yelled and Nico glared. Agnus is a guy they trusted. They became friends and he used them, framed them for drug use.
"That's different." Nico said, sounding like he was going to cry again.
"Oh, it's different! It's always different!" Leo yelled and Nico glared harder. He didn't know what that meant but he could tell he heard it a lot. Maybe he said it a lot. And he did. He's trusted over and over and over and they all ended up with him heartbroken. And he had that same feeling with Luke now. He's not ignoring it again.
"We can. Trust him." Leo had smoke coming from his arms but neither noticed.
"No! You can trust him! How am I supposed to trust a guy who used kids?!"
"He saved my life! He just saved yours!"
"He probably only did it because he felt obligated to!"
"He's been taking care of us!"
"Just like everyone else here! You think we're special?!"
"Woah woah woah boys!" Faith said running to them. She didn't hear anything they said except the last few sentences. And she saw the smoke coming from Leo. His arms, legs, hair. She heard commotion over here with swords and came over as fast as she could when she heard them arguing. She took a breath.
"Nico? Why don't you go see Luke? I need to talk with Leo." Nico stormed off to the tent wiping his tears and kicking rocks on the way as cracks showed up in the ground under his feet. Faith looked back at Leo and sat in front of him.
"What?" He asked holding back tears. She pat the spot in front of her and he rolled his eyes but did what she said in an angrier way, knees to his chest, picking at the grass next to him.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Bullshit."
"Nothing!" He yelled and she sat quietly in concern. She waited until he was calmed down just a bit. The smoke clearing with each piece of grass he ripped out of the ground.
"You know I'd never hurt you. Right? You can talk to me." She said and it was a few seconds before Leo sighed.
"I met dad."
"Oh! Really? When?"
"In my dream." She smiled.
"Was I right?" And he laughed a little. "Yeah you were right. It's 'Hephy'." He used finger quotes and frowned, wiping his tears and she frowned with him. She debated asking about the smoke but decided against it. Focus on helping him relax.
"What happened?"
"He watched. My entire life he watched and did nothing." He hugged his legs tighter. "And now Luke is leaving and you guys saw the smoke and I might have just ruined mine and Nicos friendship." He was crying at this point.
"I fucking stabbed someone, Faith! What is wrong with me?!" He yelled then hid his head in his knees.
"Mi Tía tenía razón. Soy el diablo (My aunt was right. I am the devil)." He cried and she didn't know what he said but she knew what to say about the other things. He started to calm himself down.
"Hun, there is nothing wrong with you. You learned something horrible and reacted. Also you and Nico just had an arguement. That happens sometimes. Friends have arguements. You just need to apologize and make up for it however you can." She assured and he wiped his tears taking deep breaths. Then she thought about the other things she saw, things he mentioned.
"What about the smoke?"
"It's not just smoke. It's fire. I hate it. I have no control over it and get too worked up about something and I always end up hurting someone."
"So you don't use it?"
"What if I lose control again?"
"Leo, it's better to use it more. The more you use it, the more practice you have with it. Learn to control it so you don't hurt the good people when you do use it."
"How?"
"I can look in my archives. Maybe I can find something there." Leo made a face of disgust.
"Boring."
"You read."
"Fantasy books, ma'am. With action and adventure. Not text books." He said and she rolled her eyes with a smile as he laughed. Especially at ma'am. Being Trans was really hard here. People respected her but only when they knew it was her. Anyone who didn't know her just immediately thought she was a guy. Short hair (all the woman had to cut their hair short due to the lack of supplies they had) taller, more muscular than a woman. She didn't have any satisfaction of any HRT or surgeries due to her family kicking her out as soon as she said those words, so her voice sounded "manly" too. Leo understood. He told her about being born a girl when she told him.
She shook her head knowing she was getting off topic. Then thought about the last thing he said.
"One more thing Leo." She asked and he raised a brow. "What do you mean by Luke is leaving?" He told her what happened since he woke up and she stared in heartbreak.
"I'll uh... I'll talk to him and we can come up with something." She said when he finished explaining.
"Come on. Let's go check on Nico first. Then bed time. It's getting late." He nodded and stood up before hugging her. Wrapping his arms around her shoulders - as she was still sitting down - which surprised her. He didn't let anyone else but Nico touch him unless they needed to. This means he trusted her. She smiled and hugged back. They lasted for about a minute before walking back to the tent, Leo ignoring the voice in the back of his head.

Jack - Scream
The scream was what sent Jack sprinting down the hallway. Aggressive shouts and confrontational yelling were the norm after class hours, especially on the halls the professors patrolled less. This scream sounded much higher in pitch than normal. Jack's instincts pictured only one person capable of making that sound on campus.
He turned the corner of the hall and scanned the area. He rushed to where Yuu stood just outside class 1-D. “Yuu! Are you—?”
The scream sounded again at the exact same moment Yuu turned to him. He blinked in confusion when it became obvious the sound hadn’t come from her. Yuu blinked back at him. “What’s up, Jack?”
Jack rubbed the back of his ear. “Uh. Well. Who’s that screaming?”
Yuu’s face lit up in obvious amusement. “You heard that? It’s nothing serious. Just Sebek—.”
“It’s beautiful!”
Sebek’s voice was unmistakable. Yuu stepped aside to give Jack room to lean around the doorframe. Sebek circled one of the desks at the back of the classroom. Asher stood a little off to the side, his face flushed with genuine pleasure. “You really think so? I wasn’t so sure I could get all the tiny details you wanted, but I did my best!”
Sebek straightened, and a haughty smirk spread across his face. “Of course, nothing can fully live up to the majesty and grace of the real Malleus, but your art has merit. I can see why Malleus commissioned you to refurbish the glass vases throughout Diasomnia Dorm. Malleus wouldn’t trust just anyone to fulfill a task for him.”
Asher kept beaming. He shot a quick glance at the doorway and shot them a thumbs up. Yuu returned the gesture, leading Jack to assume Asher had asked Yuu to stop by his classroom. “Asher worked really hard on the sculpture, Sebek. You should recommend him around the dorm for more commissions.”
Asher’s eyes slightly widened like he hadn’t expected Yuu to market him in such a way. Sebek chuckled, completely missing Asher’s sudden nervousness. “Of course! I would recommend anyone who Malleus approves. Everyone in the dorm would be beside themselves to have such a faithful replica of Malleus’s greatness!”
Sebek very carefully picked up the small statue from the desk. Each step he took towards the door was carefully calculated. Jack's ears flared when he got his first good view of the sculpture. It looked almost like crystal with wisps of neon green in the center that made it easy for his eyes to identify the translucent figure.
Jack shot a wide grin at Asher. “That’s pretty good work, Ash! I didn’t know you could shape glass to look like that.”
Asher beamed, his pleasure returning. “You should come see some of my other sculptures then! I keep them in the art room where I usually host the Glass Art Club.”
Jack nodded, liking the idea. Sebek made a shooing motion with his chin while he protectively clutched his new art piece. “Move aside! I must show this masterpiece to—.”
“Out of the way!”
“Get back here, Grim!”
Grim sprinted through Sebek’s legs with a howl of laughter. Ace shouted moments before his shoulder rammed into Sebek’s arm. Sebek fumbled to protect the glass sculpture in his arms. It slipped beneath his elbow.
The shatter of glass against the floor was almost as piercing as the scream that emitted from Sebek. Jack covered his ears, eyes wide at the decibel Sebek managed to reach. Even Yuu winced. “Oh, no...”
“HOW DARE YOU DESTROY MY MASTERPIECE OF MALLEUS!”
Ace noticeably winced, but there was an unmistakable scowl on his face. “Maybe if you had watched where you were stepping, it wouldn’t have happened.”
“I SHOULD WATCH WHERE I AM STEPPING? RUNNING IN THE HALLS IS EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN!”
Seeing he wasn’t going to outdo Sebek, Ace wisely started in the direction Grim had disappeared. “People in the hallway have the right of way!”
“I WILL SHOW YOU THE RIGHT OF WAY!”
Ace’s eyes widened before he took off down the hall. Sebek began chasing him even after scolding Ace for running in the halls. Yuu sighed but didn’t make a move to stop them. She crouched and reached out as if to gather the glass. She thought better of it after carefully picking up one of the larger pieces between her fingers. “I’m sorry, Asher. You spent so long on this.”
Asher sighed and joined them to crouch beside Yuu. “It’s fine. That’s the biggest downside to glass art: there’s always a chance of it shattering. I guess I’m more upset for Sebek. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look that happy except around the real Malleus.”
Jack rubbed the back of his neck. “Maybe you can make it again?”
“I probably could,” Asher agreed. He recited a simple spell and gathered the glass shards into a small ball to hover over his hand. Him and Yuu stood. “It won’t be exactly the same though.”
“I don’t think it needs to be the same,” Yuu argued. She pointed at the ball of glass. “I think now that you know you can do that, you should push yourself to keep doing it. Sebek is the only one who cares if it’s perfect, and you’ve already gotten his approval.”
Asher nodded. “You’re right! I’m going to take this back to the art classroom, so I can work on it later. Thanks, Yuu!”
Yuu waved after Asher when he left them. She waited until he completely vanished before releasing a heavy sigh. “Well, I guess I better track down Grim and figure out what he’s in trouble for now.”
Jack scoffed. “What about Ace?”
“He dug his own hole.” Jack scoffed again but couldn’t hide his grin. Yuu squinted up at him. “By the way, we need to talk about you thinking it was me screaming earlier.”
Jack rubbed the back of his neck and glanced all around them. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“My scream isn’t that loud.”
“I never said I thought it was you.”
Yuu huffed but didn’t push him. Jack made a mental note to pay more attention to Yuu’s vocal range. Despite her being the only girl on campus, it didn’t mean she was the only one who’s voice could pitch so high.

A true home(The hobbit Fanfic)
Chapter 13
Third Pov
Radagast appeared out of the forest on his sled. He got the orcs attention as they chased after him on their wargs. The company waited a bit before running into the large vast field. Gandalf was leading them to who knows where. The girls stuck near Bilbo to make sure he was safe. They made sure to stay out of sight using the rocks and boulders as cover. The girls were struggling to keep up, mainly because they are completely unfit. Renee almost fell but Kili caught her, helping her up. He grabbed her hand to make sure she didn't fall behind. Fili did the same with Kate who was struggling as well.
Lilith's Pov
We kept running. I was near the front with Thorin when he stopped. I noticed Radagast coming a bit closer. I was worried the orcs would spot us but they were so focused on Radagast that they didn't even notice.
"Stay together."
Gandalf said with a grave expression. We turned and continued running. I looked to make sure my sisters were alright. I sighed in relief that Fili and Kili were with them. Bilbo was also keeping up so I focused on running. We ran until we got to a large boulder. I could hear the orcs as they moved closer. Ori ran past me, almost getting spotted.
"Ori, No!"
Thorin pulled him back by his collar just in time. I grabbed and pulled him next to me. He looked at me and nodded. I smiled at him in reassurance.
"Come on. Quickly."
"Where are you leading us?"
Gandalf didn't say anything. I knew we were going to Rivendell. If Thorin knew he'd be pissed. We all ran until we noticed the orcs closer. We ran to hide behind a huge boulder. I was between Bilbo and Dwalin. Renee was in front of me next to Thorin. My guess is to shoot the son of a bitch above us. We heard the warg snarl above us. We held our breaths. I reached for Bilbo's hand, squeezing it tightly. Thorin then looked at Kili, nodding towards his bow before turning to Renee and doing the same thing. Renee and Kili looked at each other, giving silent confirmation. They both quietly drew their arrows. They then ran out, shooting. Renee shot the orc and Kili the warg. Renee shot it again, seeing the horn in its hand. The rest of the dwarves killed them but unfortunately not quietly. It alerted the others, causing them to stop chasing Radagast and turn in the direction of the noise. Gandalf stepped out and realised that they caught on to us. My sisters and I looked at each other. We knew what was about to happen.
"Move. Run."
We all ran, following after Gandalf. My sisters were near me which I was very grateful for. The orcs got closer and closer.
"There they are."
"This way quickly."
We kept following Gandalf. Eventually, they surrounded us. I took out my axe and Kate took out her sword. We got closer together. I made sure Bilbo was behind me.
'They're coming."
"Kili, Renee shoot them."
"We're surrounded."
Kili and Renee started shooting. I moved closer to the rest of the group.
"Where's Gandalf?"
"He's abandoned us."
"No, he hasn't. I refuse to believe he'd just leave us. Have faith, mister Dwalin."
Kate kept looking ahead at the orcs but she made a point. Ori used his slingshot but it didn't do much.
"Hold your ground."
Thorin unsheathed his new sword and got into position. I stayed close to him. Something telling me that I had to. Anyway back to our life-or-death situation. Renee kept shooting and moved closer to Kili.
"This way, you fools."
I turned to see Gandalf behind a boulder. I sighed in relief. I knew that the old man wouldn't leave us. Soon everyone started running for the tunnel. I stood near the entrance. I had to make sure everyone was safe. Kate went down after Balin. So one down, one to go. I noticed one of the wargs coming this way, heading towards Thorin. I ran in front of him. I felt something inside me burst. Like something awoke. I put my hands out. Vines wrapped around warg, strangling it. I pushed until I knew when it was dead. My hands fell to the side, blood trickling down my nose. I felt completely worn out. I almost fell but Thorin caught me, pulling me to his chest. I didn't protest because I felt so safe in his arms. Thorin looked at me with concern before passing me to Fili. I looked up and noticed that Kili and Renee were still out there. I couldn't let anything happen to them. Thorin noticed as well.
'Kili, Renee. Run"
They ran towards me, Renee saw me and ran to me. I just gave her a look of reassurance but she knew something wasn't right. Fili held me as we went down together. Kili and Renee came down with Thorin following after us. I sighed. Everyone was safe. My father and sisters were safe. I managed to stand up and walked to Kate who immediately brought me in for a hug. Renee and Bilbo joined us. Then we heard a horn. We all looked up. We moved towards Gandalf who looked at us. Renee gave him a bit of a side hug.
"I knew you wouldn't abandon us."
Gandalf returned the hug, smiling at us before turning his attention to the body that rolled down into the hole. It was an orc with an arrow sticking out. Gandalf poked it to make sure it was dead, which it was. Thorin walked around it, pulling the arrow out.
"Elves."
He threw it on the floor, angrily before looking at Gandalf.
"I cannot see where the pathway leads. Do we follow it or not?"
"Follow it, of course."
"I think that would be wise."
Renee's Pov
We walked along the path, squeezing through the tight gaps. I stayed near Lilith. I was worried about her. I've never seen her like this. Hopefully, it's nothing too serious. I should also thank Thorin and Fili for looking after her. I have no idea how long we've been walking but I do know I want to sleep for a year. My legs are like jelly. I can't even feel them. Kate slowed her walking when she noticed me groan. She put her arm behind my back just in case my legs gave out. As we got closer I could feel so much power. It washed over me, making all my worries slowly disappear. We finally made it to the end of the tunnel and walked to the end.
We all walked to the edge, looking at the beautiful city before us. Papa walked next to us and Lilith leaned her head on his shoulder.
"The Valley of Imladris. In the common tongue, it is known by another name."
"Rivendell." The girls and I smiled as Bilbo looked in amazement.
"Here lies the Last Homely House East of the Sea." I smiled at my sisters. I couldn't wait to explore this place.
"This was your plan all along. Seek refuge with our enemy." And Thorin went back to his brooding. I swear he's worse than me when I'm on my period. Fuckling jackass.
"You have no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. The only ill will to be found in this valley is that which you bring yourself."
"You think the elves will give our quest their blessing? They will try to stop us."
Of course, they will. But we have questions that need to be answered. If we are to be successful, this will need to be handled with tact and respect. And no small degree of charm, which is why you will leave the talking to me... and possibly Renee and Katherine."
I tried not to laugh at Lilith's face. I turned to Thorin.
"Look, do you want that map read or not? Put your pride aside for once. Listen to Gandalf. He knows what he's doing." Thorin looked at me with a glare. I literally couldn't care less making me stare at him with a bored expression. Gandalf gave me a smile and wink, making me grin. We made our way down and walked along the bridge. My sisters, Bilbo and I looked around at the beauty of this place. It was like a dream. Absolutely beautiful. We made it to the entrance and noticed an elf walking our way. Lindir was walking down the stairs, a hand behind his back. I got excited. I've always wanted to meet an elf and now I can. I can't wait to meet Lord Elrond. The dwarves were talking amongst themselves. Fili and Kili came to stand by us.
"Mithrandir."
"Ah, Lindir."
"We heard you had crossed into the valley."
"I must speak with Lord Elrond."
"My lord Elrond is not here."
"Not here. Where is he?"
All of a sudden we heard a horn and horses galloping on the bridge. I turned to get a better look but the girls and I were pulled into the middle of the dwarves.
"Close ranks."
I was irritated. Trust them to be overdramatic. I wanted to push my way through but Lilith gave me a look. I groaned in annoyance and just stood there. The horses had surrounded us. As the horses stopped, the dwarves lowered their defences a little, making me pull my sisters out of the circle. I turned and saw Lord Elrond on his horse.
"Gandalf."
"Lord Elrond, My friend. Where have you been?"
"We've been hunting a pack of orcs that came up from the South. We slew a number near the hidden pass."
He walked to Gandalf, hugging him. He then holds up a weapon, probably one of the orcs that he killed.
"Strange for orcs to come so close to our borders. Something or someone has drawn them near."
"Ah, that may have been us." Gandalf turns to the company. The girls and I moved closer to him. Thorin steps forward. Lord Elrond seemed to know who he was.
" Welcome Thorin, Son of Thrain."
"I do not believe we have met."
'You have your grandfather's bearing. I knew Thror when he ruled under the mountain."
"Indeed he made no mention of you."
The girls and face palmed, sighing. Why must he always make everything so difficult? Fucking Asshole. We shook our heads in annoyance at Thorin's comment. Lord Elrond turned towards us.
"And who are you?"
"I'm Renee Griffin, that is Katherine Baggins but you can call her Kate and this angry Pomeranian is Lilith Everdeen. Nice to meet you, my lord. By the way, Nice place you got here. I'll definitely come here when I need a vacation."
"Thank you, my lady. It is a pleasure to meet you as well."
We smiled at him. Unlike some people, we have actual manners and don't insult the people who saved us because of race. Lord Elrond turned to the group of dwarves.
"Light the fires, bring forth the wine. We must feed our guests."
The dwarves grew bellicose and gripped their weapons uneasily. Gloin jumped forward, raising his axe.
"What is he saying? Does he offer us insults?"
Lilith facepalmed as she turned to the group.
"No you fucking imbeciles, he's offering you food, And I don't know about you but my sisters and I are hungry as fuck."
My sisters just rolled their eyes at the dwarves' antics. The dwarves circled up, discussing with one another in low whispers. Gloin turned back to Elrond, disgruntled.
"Well, in that case, lead on."
We followed lord Elrond. He gave my sisters and me a room to share. We put our stuff down. It felt so nice to know we would sleep in actual beds tonight. We asked one of the aids where the bathes were. We got our toiletries and some simple spare clothes and followed her. We then got undressed and into the nice, soothing water.
"This is so nice. We haven't had a bath since we started this fucking quest. I can finally die happy."
We got cleaned up, washed our hair and got dressed in some clean clothes. We got our stuff and walked back to our room. When we got back, we decided to rest a bit before dinner. We cuddled together on the bed. Thank God it was big enough to fit all three of us. We fell asleep. I have never felt so peaceful. I'm definitely coming here for vacation.

Jim chuckled finding it hilarious someone else thought Wally was a child. "Not the first time it has happened. But seriously, he's always just been wally. Calling him by his actual name is just weird." Given that everyone in this family had a nickname and no one ever went by their first names. "Oh, he's been changed for the better. You've brought back his faith in people. He's always had it with us but that doesn't count since we've known him since we were kids. You gave him a reason to believe that someone wasn't at all bad. He never wanted to open up to someone because he thought they were all like his father."
"It's complicated. We didn't have an easy relationship story. Wally actually had a huge helping hand in our relationship. The beginning of it. Mel and I were friends first, our younger siblings had found their crushes and we were left being the third wheels. Or chaperones depending on who you ask. I always thought she was cute and she had such a warm and inviting laugh. I didn't spring into action only because I didn't want to get into a relationship. Wasn't truly looking for one. But, simple answer is after we spent the night together. It didn't feel weird like it should have. It felt right. Like we had just come together at the right moment. It was right. Now, don't get it wrong, I was a complete idiot afterwards and how she didn't disregard me after that is beyond me. But, Wally went up to bat for me when he didn't have to." Especially since at that time Annie was well on her way to being born. "I guess it helped that we were friends first. The foundation was already there you know. Having our first child soon after that was an added bonus to figuring our shit out. It wasn't a hinderence like it would have been if it had been anyone else. We've been together ever since. It seems like a long time but that's because we know each other too well so we project it's been longer than it has been."
He sighed and wiped his eyes. "That's why I know what you and Wally have is gonna be just fine. I know relationships can be scary but you've already done the scary part. Befriend each other. That's like the first step to peeling one layer of yourself to be exposed." Jim laughed, always the quiet one of the family. He mostly kept to himself except when around family gatherings. "It's a good pond." he nudged her shoulder gently. "I believe the one I saw you with had a red cover. Might have been magenta but it had a ribbon on it. I only saw the profile. So this could just be on in a million books out there." Being an avid reader he smiled and nodded. "I am huge book lover. I don't read as much between the extra shifts at the hospital and teaching Annie a few lessons before she starts school in another two weeks. God, I am going to miss having her home when she's at school." As a parent he knew this was a rite of passage but it still baffled him that he had a school aged daughter. "But I've got a solid collection going. This may be a dumb question but you are too?"
"Funny story that," Elizabeth laughed remembering the day Charlie and Anna met Wally. "My best friend thought the same about Wally when my godson went back home and told them he had a new friend. When they meet Wally, they were surprised, to say the least. They also were also glad that he didn't turn out to be some creeper. So you guys share that in common."
She held up two fingers on her right hand, "That's all I ever do, be brutally honest at times. Scouts honor." Making a mental note about learning a good peach cobbler pie recipe, she moved and nodded as to let him know that she was listening to what he was saying only to be met with another wave of emotions that she didn't know how to react. One moment they had been talking about Dolly, the next it was about how Wally's life had changed that day they met. A small piece of her felt guilty, knowing that he had always known what had taken her a long time to figure out. The statement also had her think over just how much she had changed too. Wally had changed her life in a way she didn't think possible. "I think we both changed each other, I know he changed me for the better. I hope I didn't change him for the worse."
She was taking in everything Jim was saying, glad to be able to talk to someone freely about how she felt about everything. With Charlie and Anna it was easy, she left and came like the breeze whenever she felt like it, no need to stick around when she wasn't needed. This was different. She wanted to be here. She wanted to get to know them all, but there would always be that piece of her that told her she didn't deserve it. That she didn't fit in and that they all deserved better but listening to him talk about what he had seen between the two of them, just made her happy. There was a time where being read so well by someone would be a death sentence to her, a grave mistake, but this observation just made her glad that everyone could see how much she did care.
"When did you two realize there was something more between you?" As always, she would never miss out in hearing a good story especially about her boyfriends family who never disappointed with a good one. "At least I'm in good company in this pond." Nodding in agreement, she followed his lead, getting up to purchase the couple of items she had her mind on. "Which one?" She asked generally curious about which book he had seen in her hand. In the last couple of weeks she had began to carry two books around when she had her bag with her. One that her therapist had suggested and a fiction novel for when she needed a break from all the real world things that were occurring. "You a big reader?"
#hewitt |▪︎main▪︎|#pls 😭 you're such a fave#out of anyone for her to open up with its the one she got the most in common with 🤣🤣🤣

A/N: I wrote this series back in 2012 and used OCs and over the top writing style for arguments. Whoops. Lmao it’s pretty decent though, so I hope you enjoy!

Aron’s POV
The weekend, I thought it would never get here. Finally Baekho would be back and I could confront the other with his behavior. Not that his behavior was bad, it was just he was acting crazy. He was doing things without regard to Ren's feelings, and our reputation. He needed his intervention for sure. I sat anxiously on the couch, watching the door, jerking and twitching at every noise that echoed through the house.
"Aron."
I jumped, glancing back as Ren stood behind the couch. "What is it Rennie?" I asked.
"I'm going to gather the others. There's something I need to talk to everyone about." Ren said and sighed.
"Okay. Do you want to wait? Baekho is going to be home soon." I reminded him. He looked a bit upset at the mention of the other. I knew why, and I wish I would have kept my mouth shut, but maybe whatever the other was going to say would help clear up the issues between the two of them.
"I guess. I'll get them gathered, but if he's not here by then, I'm just going to tell you all and be on my way." Ren said. I nodded and watched him leave to gather Minhyun and JR, wherever they were in the house. We were all gathered and Ren was getting ready to tell us what he wanted to say when the door to our dorm opened and luggage was dropped.
"I'm back!"
We all sat there, watching as Baekho came in, grinning happily at us. "Hey guys. I'm back." he announced again.
"We heard you the first time." Minhyun said and smiled slightly. "Welcome back. How was your trip?" he asked.
"It was amazing!" Baekho said as he came and sat, wiggling himself between me and Minhyun. "The vacation was great; the challenges were hard but entertaining." His head nodded with each thing he said, as if verifying to himself that it was a good trip. "And Uee noona and I have gotten really close. In fact, she asked me out on a date outside of the show."
I raised a brow at that. I was happy for Baekho, but at the same time, that's not something I wanted to hear. He was ruining everything. If he keeps this up, our group is going to be torn apart. Well maybe not torn apart completely, but nearly.
"That's wonderful Baekho-hyung." Minhyun said and patted his shoulder.
"So, what have you guys been up to since I've been gone?"
"Well Aron-" Ren cut Minhyun off.
"I have something to say." Ren said firmly, avoiding staring at Baekho.
"What is it Rennie?" I asked.
"Well...I've thought about this a lot and I've decided that I'm leaving."
"Oh? So you have another place you're going to live at? Or back with your parents?" JR asked.
"No. I'm leaving...the group." Ren said and sighed softly.
"What? But you can't!" Minhyun said.
"I'm sorry. I thought about this a lot and...It’s my decision. I've already let manager-hyung know. My things are already packed and in the car." he said.
"When did you do all this?" I was confused.
"While everyone was just...wherever." Ren said and shrugged. "I'm leaving now." he said. "I'm sorry for this, but I have to do this."
"Why?" Minhyun asked. Ren looked up at him and frowned.
"You know why." Ren answered. He turned and walked off then. We all sat in stunned silence as the door of the dorm opened and closed. I don't know how long we sat there, but it seemed like an eternity. Finally, I came back to my senses and turned to Baekho, frowning.
"This is all your fault."
~*~*~
Minhyun’s POV
“You know why.” I did know why. But I never thought he would actually leave. I knew Ren was hurting with everything that was going on with Baekho, but I never thought he would honestly leave. I thought maybe, with Aron’s little intervention plan, that we could get Baekho to see what he was doing to Ren. And if anything, at least get the other to be a bit more discrete with his relationship.
But apparently that wasn’t going to happen. Instead, the male decided to waltz in and announce he had a date with Uee noona. Not that I hold anything against Baekho or Uee noona, she’s innocent in this whole thing and he’s just plain blind. Still…I just wish it didn’t have to come to this.
“This is all your fault.” I turned, listening as Aron blamed Baekho for Ren’s departure. The other gave such a confused expression on his face. He really couldn’t understand what was going on. I sighed and patted Baekho’s shoulder.
“Aron, he doesn’t know.” I reminded.
“Well he should.” Aron snapped before standing and leaving.
“What? What don’t I know? What did I miss?” Baekho asked, turning to me for answers. I sighed and shook my head.
“Hyung…Ren really likes you.”
“I know. We’re best friends.” Baekho said. “This is why I don’t understand.”
“No hyung, Ren likes you.” I said once more. When I got the same ‘I know, duh’ look, I sighed. “His feelings for you are more than just friendship. He loves you.” I finally spelled it out for him. I have to say that blond hair dye suits Baekho’s personality perfectly.
“Loves me?” he asked in disbelief.
“Yes. And because of this show and your relationship, it’s hurting him so much that he just can’t stand to be here.” I answered.
“I’m the reason he left? No…I’m not the reason he left.” Baekho protested. “That makes no sense.”
“Sure it does. When your heart longs for someone so much and you can’t have them, it can be unbearable that you just run away.” I tried to explain.
“That’s bullshit.” Baekho said and I was taken aback by his words. “If that were true, you would have left when JR acted like an asshole.”
“Hey!” JR protested and sighed. “I’m staying out of this.” He said and got up, leaving us alone.
“Not everyone acts like that Baekho. People react differently to heartbreak.”
“It’s not heartbreak!” Baekho nearly shouted. “Ren’s just being a big baby. He’s just jealous that I’m dating Uee noona and he’s not. I always knew he was jealous of me and would try and bring me down.” He said.
“You’re such an idiot!” I shouted at him and stood, glaring. “I don’t know if you and JR share the same brain cells, but you’re utterly ridiculous. You’re so blinded by your stupidity that you haven’t noticed the pain and hurt you’ve put Ren through! You’re a fucking jerk!” I snapped. I turned and stormed out of there before I could say anything more. It was bad enough we were losing Ren; we didn’t need any more loss. Maybe we could salvage what was broken, but I highly doubt it.
“Yah! Don’t you talk to me like that Hwang Minhyun! Learn some manners!” Baekho shouted after me. I felt the urge to go back and start screaming at him about manners, but I refrained myself. Instead, I thought maybe I would go and try and stop Ren from leaving. Putting on my shoes, I left the dorm, running downstairs.
But when I got outside, the van and his things were gone. Ren was gone.
