how you became enemies: niki's got that class clown vibe down PAT. he plays way too many pranks on you, which sets you off. when you two are in the same room, everyone has to deal with your bickering. well, more like niki's verbal teasing and your nagging responses. needless to say, everyone knows your relationship with the prankster and knows by now to leave the room if the two of you are there together.

in truth, niki has a crush on you, but he didn't know how to express it. pulling pranks is his love language 😔💔

how you became lovers: just like one of the hyung line members, he takes it too far one time and actually makes you cry. he feels so bad that he panics and decides to fess up to you.

"maybe if y/n-ssi/hyung/noona wasn't clumsy—ow!" riki starts off, only to get scolded by a small jab from said person.

jay snorts. "deserved," he mumbles.

"i'll get your prada shoes dirty again, hyung." the comment makes the gryffindor close his eyes tightly, as if to calm down his anger, before letting out a deep exhale while riki and the other maknaes guffaw at their group's beloved laughing button.

"i swear, how did you even land in ravenclaw? you should be in slytherin, riki," jake wonders aloud as all of you start to get up from the table.

"world's greatest mysteries," sunghoon comments say as you approach him.

"let's go?" you inquire.

he nods and follows your lead, walking out the great hall and waving goodbye to all your friends. you don't miss the winks made by your eonnies, which makes you roll your eyes as you take your leave.

"to slughorn's office, right?" you inquire while the ravenclaw pushes the grand door open for you.

"yeah," he affirms with his bag over his shoulder.

"oh, do you know where that is?" unlike professor lupin whose office was easily accessible from the classroom, you heard that slughorn's was far, far from the basement, so you had no clue where it is.

"oh, no worries, i go there all the time," the ravenclaw casually says, leading the way.

"really?" you're not sure if you're surprised or not, since he is known as the potions prince, automatically a favorite of slughorn's if not the favorite, but it is somewhat unusual to have such a tightknit relationship with a professor to be able to go to their office all the time. your feet run towards him, following close behind but with some difficulty as his strides are long yet still graceful.

"i'm a part of the slug club," he explains. he glances at you and notices that you're having a somewhat hard time keeping up with him, slowing down as the two of you reach the moving staircase and step onto it.

"ohhh!" you have your epiphany aloud and written all in your expression.

"what did you think i was doing with slughorn all the time?" he chuckles at your agape face once the moving staircase finally stops in front of your of your destination. both of your legs move automatically to climb up the awaiting flights of stairs.

"i don't know," you admit bashfully before turning the teasing onto him. "just thought you were his favorite student, mister potions prince."

"aishh..." sunghoon shyly smiles, his cheeks tinging red. "what can i say? potions is my specialty."

the comment makes you laugh despite the tiny pain in your legs from having climbed a few sets of stairs. "gosh, we're on the third floor right now. how much longer?"

"it's on the sixth floor," he answers.

you groan out. "i shouldn't have asked."

"if you get tired, i can carry you," your fellow fifth-year offers.

"no, no, i can do it!" you immediately respond and try to tough it out, embarrassed at the thought. as you climb up the stairs behind him, your face concentrates into a small pout of endurance.

"cute..." he mutters under his breath.

"what was that?" you ask, panting a little as you catch up to him on the fifth floor.

"nothing," sunghoon quickly covers up. "we're almost there, you're doing good."

"great..!" you gasp out. deciding to pass him and reach the last stair first, you muster up your last bit of strength and dash up the stairs. he makes a surprised "oh!" as the small wind from your burst blows past him. you jump up onto the last step and collapse onto the hallway leading to slughorn's office. "made it!!"

"look at you, they're a runner, they're a trackstar," he jokes.

"but now i don't know if i even have enough energy to make my potion," you laugh.

"ahh, i really have my work cut out for me with you as my partner."

"yah! you said it was okay carrying me!"

"oh, i can?" he purposefully misinterprets, suddenly lifting you up with one hand wrapped around your legs and the other across your shoulders.

you yelp and subconsciously wrap your arms around his neck, unaware of how the action made the two of you become closer. "yah! park sunghoon, this isn't what i meant!"

the ravenclaw fifth year is laughing at first but soon acknowledges your proximity to him, which makes him put you back down to your feet immediately and awkwardly cough the mistake away. "sorry about that," he mumbles, looking away and picking up his pace to the professor's office.

you dust off your uniform with a bit of red on your cheeks. "what's his problem...?" you say to yourself, equally flustered and jogging towards slughorn's door as well. when you meet sunghoon there, it's easy to notice his pink cheeks, but you make no comment on it, knowing your own would be the same. you just simply nod at each other before knocking on the door.

the viewer slides open to reveal slughorn's eyes. "oh! sunghoon, my boy, mx. l/n, you're here for your makeup potion, i see. hang on just a moment, i'll let you in."

with that, the viewer slides back to its original position and the locks on the other side are coming undone. the potions professor is more casual from his usual getup, dressed down to accommodate for the fact that he isn't seeing much of anyone else for the rest of the day. "come in, come in," he says with a wave of his hand. "take a seat first."

as you walk in with sunghoon, you're amazed at the sheer size of this office, sure that lupin could never compare to the 2 luxurious couches that sit in front of the desk facing each other. on the other hand, the ravenclaw could be less intrigued, having been here countless times. he takes a seat on the couch with you parroting him while making sure your eyes don't miss a single detail of the room.

slughorn closes the door behind him before taking out his wand to accio a cabinet towards his students and opening it. "cauldrons and books out, all the ingredients are in the cabinet, but don't touch anything you don't know," he instructs. the two of you nod, following his first steps with some clicks of your school bags and flips of pages.

"alright, even though this isn't our scheduled class time, that doesn't mean you don't have unlimited time: you have the same amount of time as you would in class to be fair to other students," the potions professor continues before giving a smile and an extra wink for sunghoon. "now, off you two go."

glancing over the pages in front of you, you're so quick to your feet that you're in sync with sunghoon, going to grab the familiar ingredients from the open cabinet. upon reaching the storage together, you find yourself reading the labels of various ingredients as you find the necessary ones for the potion. from scarab beetles to phoenix tears to wiggentree bark, there's so much to see you can't help but have your eyes wander: wolfsbane/aconite, unicorn hair—

sunghoon's nudging you with his signature chuckle and breaking you out of your daze. "with that kind of curiosity, you should be a ravenclaw instead."

rolling your eyes and grabbing the last of your ingredients, you stand up from your kneeling position and head over to the makeshift potions station with him. "riki is the one with the house identity crisis, not me."

"doesn't mean you can't have one too."

"touché." the atmosphere is warm and not as stressful as you thought it would be. without a doubt, you're sure it's because of the ravenclaw potions expert next to you, taking a glance at him while repeating the first steps from earlier that day. the potion comes easily, considering you had done most of it already, and before you know it, you were both nearing the end as the navy blue potion starts to boil.

upon seeing enough bubbles, you and sunghoon add the scarab beetles to your respective potions at the same time and swirl your wands clockwise twice, watching at the navy blue starts to turn a deep dark forest green. the both of you turn off the heat and are about to announce your finish to sunghoon, who is working peacefully at his desk, when a melodic knock is heard.

"yes, come in!" slughorn calls, revealing a somewhat straggled lupin. you recall that earlier in the day when you had dada, he hadn't looked as mangled as he did at the moment.

"slughorn, my monthly..." the dada professor starts frantically until he notices the two of you. "oh, l/n, sunghoon, fancy seeing you two here."

"good evening, professor lupin," you greet as sunghoon gives him a nod.

"ah yes, remus, not to worry, i have it ready. just a moment please," slughorn answers as he starts to poke around his desk. "sunghoon, my boy, i have your ingredients too, if you want to get those right now."

"y-yes, professor," sunghoon says.

"potions ingredients? are you practicing on your own?" you ask.

the ravenclaw takes a gulp, watching carefully as lupin takes a wooden box from slughorn, gives the other professor a thanks, and walks out quickly. unnoticed by you, lupin and sunghoon exchange a look as the rugged man takes his exit.

"sunghoon?" you call out to him. his eyes are looking somewhere else, so you're not sure if he dozed off during your question or not.

"oh, sorry," he says with a nervous chuckle. "no, they're for healing potions, for quidditch. but also extra practice, right, professor?"

"yes, yes!" slughorn follows up with a rigid smile, causing you to eye him suspiciously for a moment. "sunghoon is such a swell boy, practicing to be a healer for st. mungo's!"

"you are?" you ask excitedly, your suspicion forgotten. earning a nod from him, you clap lightly. "that's amazing, hoonie!"

"thanks," he replies as he rubs the back of his neck.

"yes, it's as expected of sunghoon, but you must carry on this conversation some other time. it's getting quite late," slughorn rambles. he passes sunghoon a box similar to lupin's, as the potions professor attempts to push the two of you out. you and sunghoon try to pack up your things quickly, seeing as you're being rushed. "i don't want you two getting in trouble now, so it's best to be on your way. excellent work with the potions, i'll have it ready for you next week for part two!" he says, finally getting you out the door and shutting it closed.

"he really wanted us gone, huh?" you mumble mainly to yourself.

"well, it is getting late," sunghoon shrugs off. he checks his watch, and his eyebrows raise. "ah shoot, i don't even have time to walk you to the hufflepuff common room, will you be fine on your own?"

"i should be okay, thanks hoonie," you smile at him as the two of you approach the stairs. "get back safely!"

"you too, y/n."

as you slowly start to make your way down the stairs, you hear hurried footsteps and a whoosh! that spooks you. you turn around quickly, thinking maybe something happened to sunghoon while he was going upstairs, but he's not there. in fact, no one is there.

confused, you wonder if you're starting to just hear things. sunghoon's 'with that kind of curiosity, you should be a ravenclaw instead' sentence repeats itself in your mind, so just this time, you decide to let it go and quickly head off towards the kitchens and your beloved common room.

upon tapping the rhythm that has been engraved into your brain on the barrels, the entrance reveals itself to you. you're out of breath from practically sprinting down the stairs as to not get caught by some early prefects on night duty, but you take a deep breath before crawling through the sloped, earthy tunnel and eventually popping your head out.

the fire is crackling in the fireplace, and sunlight no longer peeks through the circular glass windows. instead, lanterns have been lit, adding to the cozy atmosphere of the bumblebee-colored common room.

"hello, are you a blossom badger?" a kind, whispered voice calls out to you. turning your gaze back to the fireplace, you see jake sitting at the table with some glasses donning his face.

smiling, you crawl out of the entrance and dust your robes off before walking over to him. "may i?" you gesture to the available seat.

"depends, are you a blossom badger?" he tries once more.

"and if i am?"

"then you can take a seat."

"ah, well it just so happens that your guess is correct."

the two of you share quiet laughter as you sit down and get comfortable in the plush seating. "so what have you been up to, jaeyun?"

"oh, nothing much. just writing up that essay for care of magical creatures," the prefect answers.

"oh no! i haven't even started!" you panic and frantically start rummaging around your bag for your textbook and writing materials. "ugh, i've just been so busy all day. not to mention, the fact that i slipped and fell in potions."

"by the way, how are you feeling?" jake quips, pointing to his own head. "concussion and all?"

you pause in your search and wonder. "you know what, it's actually strange. my head doesn't hurt all too much... it only hurt when i first woke up."

jake hums hesitantly at that. "maybe... sunghoon gave you a good healing potion before you woke up?"

"oh! that could be it... i'll have to thank him for that," you say, making a mental note. then, you remember what happened at the stairs just now. gosh, what's up with you and things happening at stairs? "jaeyun-ah..."

"hm?" his gaze is still focused on his creatures paper, quill diligently writing his thoughts.

you ponder how to explain it to him. what if you just heard mrs. norris or something? it's possible, that cat has always been quick on her feet. shaking your head, you decide to let it go and just text sunghoon about it. "ah... never mind."

jake looks up from his paper, eyebrows furrowed at you. "really, blossom, is something wrong?"

you really can't lie to him, huh? for someone you've only been friends with for about a month or so, it seems like jake can already read you. however, this is something you should keep to yourself, so you decide to bring up a different topic.

"do you... want to go to hogsmeade with me next week?"

"next week?" you nod. "october 1st...?"

"you don't have to if you don't want to!" you bring up to try to ease his hesitation. "i just thought... maybe we could get to know each other better...?"

"let's do it then," he says boldly.

you blink at it, wondering where the previous nervousness went. "a-are you sure? like i said, you don't have to if you don't—"

"i want to. i'm sure, blossom," jake reassures with a ruffle of your hair. a sheepish grin peeks out on your face as you shyly nod. "now, maybe you should get started on your essay?"

"merlin's beard..." you grumble and groan before picking up your quill and doing as he advised.

jake smiles at you getting right to work despite your long day, but his frown slowly drops when he thinks about his agreement.

october 1st... the first full moon of the school year. how is he supposed to get through that day?
