in a wild turn of events, the professor teaching the early christianity course im taking was and continues to be the only one treating the election results with any sense of proper gravity
#college#us politics#the way im taking a ccm class on rhetoric and the professor gave a cursory#‘this is why education matters’ speech and proceeded to power on through without mentioning it#meanwhile this old white guy went on a whole diatribe about truth and learning#and keeps connecting what we’re learning to contemporary issues#and it’s not surprising that he’s doing it just to be clear#dude was tying biblical eschatology to the us’s problematic handling of israel’s genocide against palestinians#what’s surprising is how much less my other professors are doing#poor dude’s trying to uphold academic scholarship on christianity in college settings so hard#he keeps bringing up the recent conservative evangelical turn in the scholarship overall#like genuinely i have to respect this dude
