The Duchess of Feldsbury's wardrobe has changed much since the 1920s. It is still very fashionable and elegant, but some changes to her hair and style reflect her changing role as a mother and as a duchess, which she has taken a larger role in. It also reflects a more modest look as 1930s fashion took more of a feminine and conservative style, reacting to the flappers of the 20s, and wealthy women emphasized luxury in light of a global depression. I know this is my first lookbook of the 1930s, but hey it's one of my favorites.

Before and After: Darling Walsh

Darling might be my most drastic, but favorite townie makeovers. I really felt like EA dropped the ball on Darling’s appearance. I really am quite proud of how she turned out! I changed her eyes + eyebrows and I think her nose is simply just a nose mask. 

I really wanted to do Darling justice, so I did some research (aka Pinterest) to get some inspiration on how I envisioned her to look. I went with an androgynous style rather than the sporty/tomboy look she originally had. I was so inspired by her that I created a lookbook too - I’ll share it as soon as I get my pictures edited.

I hope you all like her as much as I do because I’m tempted to take her and make her a legacy founder.

As a ward of a duke and duchess, Miranda enjoys finely made clothes, even if they are simpler compared to the couple's children. (Let's be real even if Byron claims to not want the title, he definitely enjoys the benefits and can be subconsciously classist) Her style is more practical than anything, which makes it easier to have fun.

As the paramour of a fashion designer, Francesca always wears the latest styles. Additionally, as a full-time working woman, she prefers practicality over style, and like many modern women of the 1930s, she has added more pants to her wardrobe. While it was still considered scandalous to wear pants in public, Francesca couldn't care less. She's also taken a larger interest in her Hong Konger heritage since the Crash, relearning the language and the culture, dressing as such. As always I aim for a cunty lesbian girlboss look for her lol.

The Duchess of Feldsbury's style stays elegant and modern in light of another global war, and while unlike many women who have given up nylon stockings for the war effort, she draws on lines to support the men on the front line, not because she doesn't have them. Kiera Knightly in Atonement, Heidi Lamar, and Rita Hayworth are the women I've taken inspiration from!

While Giselle does not wear her most extravagant designs, she takes great care in her appearance, both bright and feminine. She has managed to save her fashion house in light of the Great Depression and has begun her foray into costume design for theater and film, her wealthy clientele shifting from aristocrats and heiresses to actresses, singers, and socialites from industrial businesses.
