Ambessa is not a butch. Canonically she is a bisexual woman who is very feminine. She just also happens to be a warlord. She can be soft and lovable. She loves being a mother. Headcanons are fun but I find it hard to read them, or just fics in general, when they call her a butch. Now I do enjoy some of them, but it’s mainly due to the fact that it seems like people are completely ignoring who she is and labeling her whatever simply because she’s muscular and that’s not ok. Also, whether you know it or not that feeds into stereotypes about Black women. It is that serious. I wish it wasn’t but…we don’t live in that kind of world. Show me her wearing dresses, picking out jewelry, applying makeup, getting her hair done….These are things we know she does from the book and show alone. Imma have to open up my docs cuz we definitely need more fem Ambessa fics out there.🧍🏾‍♀️

Mulan and Legend!! This one was so much fun! I definitely challenged myself with the background, but my favorite scene from the original Disney cartoon was the scene where Mulan's father sits with her on the stone bench beneath the cherry blossoms and encourages her. So, I kinda wanted to honor that in this one!!

I think that Legend would really respect Mulan; not only is she caring, smart, and kind, but she is also super tough and strong and a brave warrior!! She definitely could hold her own as Hero of Courage. So I think that Legend would really listen to her advice and her words of wisdom.

Sooooo I know the LU fandom loves to torture poor Legend, but I wanted to give him a break here 😂 He deserves it for sure!! Also, the pink flowers would perhaps remind him of... someone else, which would be a bittersweet moment for him.

I imagine that in this scene he kinda opens up to her about his own troubles and she encourages him with her own stories of her trials and successes, and how it all worked out in the end!

Okay but it's super interesting how

Din = Power = Ganondorf

Naryu = Wisdom = Zelda

Farore = Courage = Link.

Because Din, in the hylian creation myth, created the physical world. Naryu then created the laws - gravity, time, etc. And Farore finally created life - plants and people.

Din created the body, naryu the mind, Farore the soul.

And the triforce and its wielders so perfectly reflect that.

Ganon is physical power, he is big and intimidating and he breaks things. He is cunning and determined, but that's not what he focuses on. He is might makes right.

Zelda is wisdom and cleverness. She is stall tactics and information and team work. She is a powerful mage with a spine of steel, but that's not how she'll win. She is the pen being mightier than the sword.

Link is courage and persistence. He is the wild card sneaking behind enemy ranks, always moving, plunging into terrifying situations head first. He's a phenomenal fighter with a keen wit, but that's not what will get him through his challenges. He is bravery not being the absence of fear but the triumph over it.

They sit in perfect parallels to each other.

And ganon is reborn through his body - his resurrection is immortality. No matter how low he is cast, as long as he has a body he can claw his way back. He can cling to his power, build it ever higher.

Zelda is reborn through the magic of her bloodline. It's the accumulated knowledge handed down for generations, the unique power she must master, the skills she must develop to survive and get her kingdom out the other side intact. Even her name, the knowledge of herself, is handed down from all the way from the very first. Her ancestors knowledge of her future presence, her stability, is what gives her the edge.

Link is reborn in spirit. He is not bound by flesh or blood. Just like his wanderlust soul he can reappear in any time or place. His variation, his unpredictability, is exactly how he fights. It's what makes him so hard to pin down.

Ganons need to build strength means he can't chase after link. Links impulsiveness means zelda can outwit him. Zeldas stationary predictability means she's an easy target for ganon.

But the other direction?

Fire melts ice, ice redirects lightning, lightning burns fire.

And that's the very essence of the triforce.

#It's little details spread across the games like this that just makes it work so WELL it's SO COOL #They're all great at all parts of the triforce but they CHOOSE to focus on the path most meaningful to them #And that's literally reflected in their unique cycles of reincarnation isn't that just AMAZING #And that's why the team up is so important! If they were all working against each other they'd be locked spinning their wheels #If zelda and ganon teamed up link would immediately die and if link and ganon teamed up zelda would instantly perish #It's the link zelda team up that means ganon is the one who kicks it #Also the elemental thing was cool but they do jump around a bit. Like wind is there half the time #In botk the gerudo have lightning and the goron have fire. Farosh still has lightning tho and dinraal fire #In ss lanaryu was the lightning and faron had water like its all over the place thematically. And that's when it's only 3!#Don't even get me started on the 5/7 lots notankyu #But that's the most common group and it's also thematically accurate #Fire being the only one able to self perpetuate with fuel. Can be banked up again. Ice compresses with time but needs the right environment #Lightning go boom 👍 you can feel the static in the air but you don't know when/where it'll strike and then it's all over #Like fr it's hilarious zelda and ganon are playing the long game and link runs past eats all the pieces and while ganons yelling after him #Zelda checkmates his king. And nobody can prove she wasn't cheating because nobody was looking lmao #Ah the duality of metaphors #ANYWAY isn't that so neat???#Reason no.372 why rhoam was a terrible king he didn't just screw up he did it ✨thematically✨#If link had been allowed to run off and get dirty and if zelda was allowed to study her interest (like post kingdom fall FOR EXAMPLE)#They'd have won (like aoc) but nooooooo. i designed a sheikah outfit for josha like purah and robbie. they gifted it to her, but josha added the depths elements later because no one tells the president what to do.

i wanted to keep it in line with the modern sheikah's sense of style, with some allusions to their past ninja antics, hence the bandages and assassin's creed hood. all the better to slip out of lookout landing undetected. strict parents make sneaky kids, purah!

The silly stupid alien show about ghosts that steal your cock and balls just pulled the most gut wrenching, poignant shit possible and portrayed it so artistically and meaningfully what is even life.

This was MASTERFULLY done. The visual and environmental storytelling, the subtle foreshadowing, and inject those motifs into my fucking BLOOD.

One of the best things about Disco Elysium by far is that it does not fear ugly women. The world is full of ugly men, but ugly women are so hard to come by.

Spar, Alpha-Ø2, Mand’alor the Resurrector.

My take on this super fascinating if somewhat obscure character from Legends! A clone with Jango Fett’s memories, who escaped Kamino to become leader of a faction of Mandalorians.

I’ve been exploring him a lot in my fic, the Prime Override, and I wanted to give him a shot visually. His appearance here is specific to my fic, where his story diverges considerably from Legends, so there are a couple of details that don’t match that of any of the three official illustrations that exist of him. But the changes are intentional! I still hope he’s recognizable 😅

#loz #loz eow #the legend of zelda #echoes of wisdom #zelda #link #josh art tag #this took me waayyyy too long #but ive been meaning to do it for a while since honestly not long after posting my first design for Zelda #i ended up making this new one instead #so the last ref sheet has been outdated for a while #and people still reblog it sometimes!#i really like the new color palette for Zel #the last one just didnt feel as cohesive #also i love giving them brown eyes <3 #like i am absolutely not trying to police how other people draw them or anything. at the end of the day its just eye color #but like #its a slight bummer when so many people give them blue eyes... a majority of links and zeldas have blue eyes (and blond/pale hair)#like the only real exception i can think of is botw/totk zelda having green eyes #and i get that pale hair and blue eyes do look good like they are a good combo #but i want some variety!! and with the toony artstyles u can choose any color and have it not necessarily be incorrect #with toony black eyes i usually go for brown/gray/black for eye color to sorta match the toony look somewhat #but i was also lowkey considering purple for zeldas eyes. cuz i could do anything really since all we have to go off of is toony black eyes #so like im not trying to be mean at all i just think its a missed opportunity to go for blue instead of other more unique options #and honestly blond and brown eyes is an underrated combo they look really good together #but yea so basically anyone who gives them brown eyes (or other unique colors) u r awesome and i appreciate u <3 #but if u use blue thats valid too dont let me stop u if u really do like how they look with blue that isnt what im trying to do here

I didn't know Unique Legend had a colored manhua. I bought a few volumes of the physical manhua, but those weren't colored. Although it stopped updating in 2020, there's like 70 chapters of it free on kuaikan. Definitely going to read it after catching up to the books. It'll be fun to compare it with the old version of Unique Legend that got discontinued and see how much Honglin's art has improved throughout the years...

My biggest hope for the Mighty Nein animated series is that they capture the tone correctly and don't use the same tone for TMN that they used for TLOVM.

I thought the tone in TLOVM was great for Vox Machina, it was littered with Scanlan style adult humor that suited the adult-style comedy/drama very well but I dont think that exact same tone would work well for the Mighty Nein.

Even though TMN had dirty humor, I think it's style of humor was different than TLOVM. Sex scene cut-aways and projectile vomiting, over the top gore and poop humor throwaway gags I don't think would hit the way for TMN as it does in TLOVM even though it exists in TMN.

I think that in the way that TLOVM is framed around Scanlan style humor, I think TMN is framed around Jester humor- which is still dirty, but sillier and a bit more naive and familiar that fits the mature tone of TMN much better than the throwaway humor of TLOVM.

And i'm sure TMN will be gore-y too but sometimes the gore in TLOVM was over the top in a way that detracted from some of the major villain deaths and made them less impactful when compared to some disposable npc whose skull gets exploded in a few scenes prior. What I mean is that I hope it's gore-y where it counts. Like Caleb crushing the guards while storming the sanitarium in rage and vengeance is not as impactful if everyone dies in a similar fashion all the time, if you know what I mean?

Archie had this problem in season 1 I feel.#his sacrifice didn't feel impactful at all. he felt like a throwaway and part of that i feel is because his death didnt feel unique #I think too much gore also starts to feel less realistic in a setting. it feels fine for TLOVM bc I think TLOVM plays with tropes in a way #that works for them and their characters but wont always work for the style of TMN
