10 BLs That Shook Me

Let's get the rough ones out of the way first, shall we?

1 2gether

Green. One of the most egregious reps for punching down humor against femmes in BL (and there sure are a lot out there). Seriously GMMTV? Must you?

At the time we all watched this because there wasn't anything else to watch, and it's been a long time since I bothered with a rewatch, but Green is one of the reasons I just can't with this series.

I'm not knocking the actor, but the character and how the other characters behave around him, and the director with regard to this aspect of the plot and portrayal was rough going.

What shook me was how casually homophobic 2g was. It was just so odd to watch a gay romance gloss over and degrade queerness. I was like, wait, aren't they supposed to me on our side?

(Ah, the before times.)

2 Fish Upon the Sky

Shall we address the head wrap in the room? This BL has some of the most shockingly racist content I've seen in a long time. Also punching down humor. I fast forwarded through it and I still don't want to think about it. GMMTV should be throughly ashamed of themselves... Again. I was shook, but in a bad way.

Okay, now for the ones that shook me in a good way.

3 Until We Meet Again

I watched this early in my Thai BL journey (while it was airing) and I had no idea what to expect. Frankly, you could watch it now and still not know. It's just very unusual for a Thai BL.

The plot twist about how they each ended up reborn. Just so brilliant. I still can't get over it. So simple. SO CLEVER. So punishing for the families.

Fantastic!

4 Secret Crush On You

This one kinda shook me all along but that Daisy & Touch scene. It lives on in my head rent free forever. Just because it was so beautifully sweet and genuine and kindly towards a femme character.

I still don't like this BL.

But I love that scene in it.

5 My Beautiful Man

I went on a JOURNEY with this show. Mostly because I didn't think Japan had it in them to land something this complex. But they managed it beautifully by not shying away from the delicious messy ugliness of it all.

Possibly the greatest final episode in all BL.

And from Japan. Usually so bad at endings.

I remain gobsmacked.

6 Unknown

I shouldn't have been shooketh by this one but I really was.

The style of it while staying so down home and gritty.

How old school Chinese BL it felt yet it still managed to be very modern BL about it.

The execution and quality of the acting.

How it was aired (available in YouTube?! we NEVER get that from Taiwan!)

Also the pair branding. We haven't gotten this level of pair brand from the leads in a Taiwanese BL since SamYu.

I'm was absolutely riveted by everything about this show and its production.

I loved seeing it. I hope we get more BLs like this from Taiwan as a result.

But I ALSO hope they realize that a big factor in the popularity and the success of this show was in distribution.

It's what's for dinner.

Along with the stepbrother trope.

KOREA'S SUPRISES

I watch a lot of Kdramas as well as BL, and have done for a really long time. I'm riveted by Hallyu, from an entertainment industry perspective (what I wouldn't do to get my hands on some of their proprietary data). I also listen to a ton of Kpop.

Therefore, Korea dominates the P'ABL gets shooketh list because I had (and have) more expectations firmly in place around Korea's media product sfyle than anyone elses. Even before they started to make a big play into the BL scene.

My favorite BLs from Korea, like Semantic Error and Light on Me are EXACTLY what I expect from them, manufactured perfection. But I was also shook more times by Korea than other BL nations because I had such rigid expectations.

7 Color Rush

Yeah yeah. But it starred an idol. It started out pretty and stiff and everything I was expecting and then the concept hit me up side the head and I never recovered from the CLEVER of this show. I'm not used to my Kdramas or my BL being this high concept and SMART about their sanitized perfection.

8 Blueming

What with the 8th Sense and others since, Blueming seems to have been somewhat forgotten about. But at the time, I was shook by the down home grit of this show. By the actual pain from the characters. By the higher heat concept. By Korea actually going THERE.

And then these babies came along...

9 The 8th Sense

I just didn't think Korea had it in them. Yes, I realize now that it was a bit navel gazey, and we were weighted heavily towards the seme and his pain. I would have liked a better balance between the leads, but that's in retrospect.

At the time I couldn't believe it. A KBL dealing with mental health?

And can we talk about those sex scenes? How insanely comfortable the actors were with each other? How easy in each other's personal space? I've not seen anything else quite like that from Korea. It's super rare. I had assumed they, culturally, just didn't do casual intimacy, or if they did, it wasn't allowed on screen.

Of course now I know the CAN do it, I want more.

10 Love for Love's Sake

Okay, lots to unpack with this one. A genuine isakai BL, in the original sense of the term. The death twist didn't shake me up, but the execution, acting, open gayness, and a couple other things did. Enough to make me still think on this show with fond surprise and affection, despite its undercurrent of darkness.

Gods, Agatha is such a diabolical cunt. Never did I think I'd ever love someone more than Wanda, but she's now my new favorite bitch of the MCU. Kathryn Hahn really knocked it out of the park with this one! Her line delivery is just impeccable, and she is marvelous at playing out the bloodthirsty sociopath that you can't help but sympathize with. Like, she knows what she's about and she's not ashamed of it.

I'mma talk about Agatha All Along real quick cause it's late at night and I just finished the show in a sleepy haze and I need to get all these thoughts out while I battle another insomnia episode. So SPOILERS!

I was shooketh to find out that the witches road never even existed and was never real. The original ballad was based on a song her and her son made up while traveling, and it twisted into the ballad of the Witches Road over time. But other young witches believed the ballad to be a real tale, so they came to Agatha and wanted her to guide them down the road. So, she turned the ballad into a bait to lure other witches into a trap and steal their powers. This is how Agatha became a legend as the "only known survivor of the Witches Road". Of course she's the only survivor of the road! She made it the fuck up and then murdered everyone!

Agatha was bitching to Rio about her tormenting her the entire time and making her life a living hell. I was so confused on why Agatha would say this or why Rio would be sticking so closely to Agatha this entire time since her son's death. But that's because Rio has been following Agatha for centuries down the "Witches Road" because Agatha was dropping bodies left and right. And Agatha hated this because she sees Rio as responsible for taking her son, but Rio was just doing her job. Hells, Rio even did Agatha a massive favor by allowing Nicholas to live at all and giving Agatha at least some time with her son. And the little moment Agatha and Rio have where Rio says "as long as I get my bodies" is because there has always been bodies during the "Witches Road" and it is what Rio is expecting of Agatha. Rio only gets directly involved with this one because Billy "broke the rules" and cheated death and she is here to collect him specifically.

It's of no wonder why Agatha seems so erratic and winging it during all of the trials because there has never been trials. The Witches Road has never been real. She gets so frustrated at the beginning trial and yells at the witches to blast her because that is how it has always played out, until it didn't and the road actually revealed itself. She clocked Billy really early on because she realized that he used his mother's powers, induced unnecessary suffering, and killed people to get what he wanted (even if he didn't know that was what he was doing).

The Witches Road only became real because Billy made it real using his reality bending powers. He made the same mistake Wanda did and conjured it into existence because he wanted it to be real so bad. He wanted answers and to find out how to get Tommy back. That is what he expected at the end of the road and it's what he got. And like Wanda, Agatha helped him figure out how to get Tommy and get him what he has wanted. And Billy unintentionally got 3 people killed in the process. But he also helped Jen unbind herself and get her powers back.

And also, Lady Death is now in the MCU!!!! She's literally one of the most, if not the most powerful entity in the entire Marvel creation. She cannot die, cannot be killed, and cannot be injured. And Aubrey Plaza is just *chef's kiss*. She managed to leave such a massive impact by doing very little. I could not have imagined any one better and I'm actually surprised it took so long for her to make her way into the MCU. I would be severely disappointed if this was the last time we ever saw Aubrey Plaza as Lady Death. I know we're gonna see Billy, hopefully we see Tommy, but I need Rio Vidal.

I initially thought Disney was gonna pull the rug out from us and this show was just gonna be another queerbait. But the evil lesbian witches actually kissed, even if it was the kiss of death.

Macaque likes Ruthlessness because he's an emo little stinker.

Sandy likes Open Arms (of course).

Tang and Red Son like Warrior of the Mind.

Pigsy really thinks the monkeys should take Luck Runs Out to heart.

Mei likes Keep Your friends close (a fun bop that belies danger underneath, just like her).

I have to be careful binging a new muscial (or in this case Saga) cus I end up playing each song on loop for hours. Opinions might change once the full and finished versions of later sagas are released.

Im imagining the gang likely sees/listens to Epic on the reccomendation of MK (who's currently on a Greek Mythology hyperfixation), and he gets them all to watch the full play - maybe in the future as a irl performance or film.

"Legendary" is SUCH an MK song. Both him and Telemachus growing up with the stories of someone dear to them and wanting to replicate their success. I could also see him really liking "Warrior of the Mind" with the theme of "some nobody" gaining the favor of a god (reminds you of anyone?) + SWK is infamously the personification of The Mind in Jttw so its a bonus. MK is smiling evily whenever a harsh plot twist occurs and his fam are shocked silent. >:3

Sun Wukong feels targeted personally with how many of the Epic songs remind him of his past. Ofc he starts crying halfway through "Horse and the Infant", and is inconsolable during "Just A Man" - verbally yelling "NO!" at the end. And like Nezha and Sandy is *silent* during Posideon's songs. Is super jazzed during the triumphant Ithaca Saga though! And feels mega catharic during "King" when Odysseus proves that he still rules to the suitors! He tries his best to hide how much the muscial is affecting him.

Macaque is a canon theatre Nerd - so he's already listened to the musical multiple times, but he's uber excited to see the live performance (and secretly bond with his found fam). Is rocking out during "Ruthlessness" and "Done For" in particular, so much so that he's fidgeting and dancing within his seat. He also vibes with "No Longer You" as someone with powers of prophecy. Is really amazed how much Wukong gets into the musical, but in retrospect understands *why*. Him and Wukong accidentally share a glance during "Would You Fall In Love With Me Again" and it gets a little awkward afterwards.

Mei is similarly excited to see anything with her bestie, so she tried her best not hear/see any spoilers ("it's a centuries' old story Mei" "Ssssh!! Dont tell me!"). She was shooketh by how hard the muscial goes. "Keep Your Friends Close" is her fave based on beat alone. She gets delightedly scared and amazed by consistent horse imagery used with Posideon (shameless link to my fave Animatic of "Ruthlessness").

Tang loves himself some historical and mythological adaptations, and is estatic that MK has given him an excuse to go see one! He's not as familar with Hellenic mytholgy as he is with Hindu-Chinese, but he knows enough lore to make the pog-champ face at every foreshadowing/reference. "Warrior of the Mind" really gets to him as a song about valuing your smarts. He also feels really empathetic for Calypso.

Pigsy only went cus Tang begged him. He feels super lost by the deep Greek lore he's missing, but he can get Odysseus's whole thing with trying to get home - but he def identifies more with Eurylochus. "Luck Runs Out" proves this to him. Later on he feels that the second-in-command was justified in having the soldiers rebel against Odysseus after so many losses (who wouldn't after losing all their friends?). Audibly gasps at the end of "Just A Man" - cus who would just do that!? Is a little freaked out by Circe turning the Athenian's into pigs - Eurylochus is depicted as partly-transformed, played by a pig-demon actor who was in super convincing human makeup in the previous sagas. He also gets protective feelings by-proxy seeing Telemachus's situation since the prince reminds him of MK. Is surprised by how much he likes the musical!

Sandy feels betrayed. This isn't like Disney Hercules at all! He does really enjoy Polites message in "Open Arms" and the later moments when the hopeful soldier's outlook is proven correct. He's a little overwhelmed at points though - he get eerily quiet during Posideon's scenes. He sobs joyfully when Odysseus finally makes it home and reunites with his family! :')

Because of this really good animatic/almost child-like depiction of Aelous by gigi; I can def see "Keep Your Friends Close" being Nezha's fave. It reminds Nezha of when he was far more carefree + has a solid lesson on about trust/"forbidden fruit". He also enjoys the more march-like tune of "Survive". He does however, freeze when he listens to Posideon's songs "Ruthlessness" and "Get in the Water" - he has been on the bad end of a sea god before and is quietly shtting himself for Odysseus.

Red Son goes in feeling like he could have stayed at home listening to the musical on his phone while working on a car instead. He is however blown away by the heavy themes and performances, especially "Warrior of the Mind" and Telemachus's situation - a prince forced to grow up fatherless and protecting his mother from suitors due to his dad pissing off a higher power? Hello?? Accidentally shrieks "YES!!!" when Athena becomes Telemachus's mentor/friend after "Little Wolf".

Princess Iron Fan I could see loving any song including Penelope (she empathizes with the Queen's situation hard), but unexpectedly enjoys "Keep Your Friends Close" - she's a fellow Wind Goddess at her core. It also reminds her of her not-so-little-anymore nephew.

DBK on the flip side loves the heavier songs like "Polyphemus" and "Ruthlessness". This man is a Posedion apologist. He does feels bad for Odysseus by the end though - man just wants to get back to his wife and kid dammit!

Bonus: The Spider Gang are watching the bootleg and Spider Queen agrees with Circe's whole girlboss attitude especially "Puppeteer". Scorpion Queen is Calypso in "Not Sorry For Loving You".

Bendy Bites 9: Healing Kisses

Posting this in honor of the anon requesting fluff instead of angst 😘

WARNING: TOOTH-ROTTING FLUFF. YOUR TEETH WILL BE GONE AFTER READING THIS

Quick disclaimer: All of this is platonic. Please, please, please don't make this weird.

Okay, this is inspired by an ask I answered here that talks a bunch about real world injuries vs ink machine injuries. I'm not gonna repeat everything I talked about here, so go read it if you're interested in those implications, the anon had some pretty good thoughts. Then @tiredtrashpanda had an amazing idea and thus this Bendy Bites was inspired.

SO

In the ink world, injuries can be healed either through sped-up passive healing (Henry in BATIM) or through eating (Audrey in BATDR). Obviously, that's not a thing in the real world.

The first time Bendy sees Audrey get hurt in the real world, he brings her some food. She's like, "Bud, that is super sweet but that's not how the world works anymore," and explains it.

Bendy is rather shooketh at first but accepts it considering that this world is a lot less dangerous than the ink world. He moves on and doesn't even consider that this "new" form of injury/natural healing thing could apply to him.

Then, Bendy gets hurt. Maybe he trips on some stairs and cuts his knee. The Keepers proved he can't die and will recover from any injury (even if he might get twisted in the process) but let's just say for the sake of fluff that in the real world his healing factor is still much better than the average person's but relatively slowed compared to when he is in the real world.

So, when the cut on his knee doesn't heal after more than a minute, he freaks out. He thinks he's dying and Audrey has to explain again that injuries don't get magically healed overnight: healing takes time. She bandages his booboo and gives it a lil' kiss. Then, the next day it's her turn to be baffled because the injury is completely gone and she has to revise her statement about magical healing because he thinks that her kiss is the reason he healed so quickly.

Fast forward and he "knows" that kissing an injury won't make it heal faster, but he was so convinced that the power of sibling love healed him the first time he was hurt that it's turned into a full-blown superstition.

Now, every time he gets any sort of scratch/bruise/injury, he asks (or demands if he's in his Ink Demon form) for Audrey to give it a kiss. She is usually happy to oblige unless she's busy and it's something small, or if it's in a weird place.

Audrey: I am not kissing your foot.

The Ink Demon, after running through a particularly nasty patch of bristles and cutting his ankle: BUT IT HURRRRTS

He probably wouldn't say it like but it makes me laugh so whatever

Bendy is learning how to be a person from Audrey, right? So now, whenever she gets hurt, he offers to give it a kiss. He doesn't have lips in either form, so it's more like he's tapping his face against her bandages but it's the thought that counts, right? I guess his toon form can change the shape of his mouth but I doubt he's got a kissy-face option.

Btw, I use the word "offers" lightly. Bendy is stubborn and loves his sister, so if she ever refuses his healing kisses he throws a fit. If he's in his toon form at the time of injury, he'll use every trick in the book to try to guilt Audrey into letting him kiss her ouchie better. If he's in his Ink Demon form he argues with her until she either gives in or he gives up and just mopes for the rest of the day.

Bendy: WHY DO YOU REFUSE MY BLESSING OF HEALING?

Audrey: It's just a papercut

Bendy: I CAN MAKE IT BETTER

Audrey: How many times do I have to explain that's not how that works?

Bendy: IT IS AT LEAST WORTH AN ATTEMPT

Audrey: I'm fine.

Bendy, sulking in a corner: WHEN DID I LOSE YOUR TRUST?

Audrey: When you ate my birthday cake

Bendy: I SPARED YOU A SLICE

Audrey: Yes, I should be so grateful that I got one slice of my gourmet cake that everyone in the office chipped in to deliver to my house as a special birthday surprise.

Bendy: EXACTLY

Audrey: That was sarcasm.

And so forth...

Side note: her coworkers ordered the cake to her house so that she would get some positive associations with home and stop staying so late.

If he's particularly worried about an injury of hers and Audrey is feeling particularly stubborn about not getting a get-better kiss, he'll give her a hug instead (most likely in his toon form so it's less suspicious).

How do characters fall in love with their enemy realistically? Which isn't love at first sight!

And how do idiots characters keep falling and falling into the hellhole sticky situation that is love with your enemy?

Okay so first thing first, just to be clear. I am far from a "writer" so I don't have any experience myself 💀

I'm more of a reader though, to me there's a lot of ways to bring someone to fall in love with their enemy [again, idk much] but if I were to read a book, I'd love to read something like this :

A hates B, like a lot. Literally wants to kill B. B can either hate A back or just playfully hates A back. And then usually there's a third person in the story, someone who sort of breaks the line between good and evil, straight up..all the dark things you could imagine. Twisted, sick, psychopath which I'll call C.

1. C can either wipe everything away which made A and B in a forced proximity (working together to save something) because A is bad but they still have morals/they do the bad things because of a good reason/their ideology. They work together-> becomes close and fall in love

2. C can still be all the above (sick, twisted, psychopath) but add a little bit of ✨charm✨, a little bit of ✨manipulation✨, a truly cunning antagonists suggesting A or B to work with them. Let's say C is working with A now -> B fights two people -> B loses -> C and A wins -> A still wants to kill B but C refuses so C simply turns B into their "pet" or "slave" -> A and C rules the world/anything -> B is not in a good place (tortured? Assaulted? Maybe C has some sick fantasies that A doesn't know of?) -> maybe everyone/some group is looking for B and A hears the rumors -> A scoffs (still hating B) -> A hears that B does something small but good and interesting? Like turns out B would always go to the animal shelter to volunteer or play with the orphanage, charity and what not -> A got a bit piqued of the real "B" Because all A know is the B that B shows to A, the B with ambition and annoyingly good fighting skills and a stubborn righteousness (bcs before this, A never really cared or was interested in B's personal life, just seeing B as an obstacle) -> A gets curious and asks C/finds B themselves -> A finds B -> B is really really down(sad)either dying and what not ->

Now this can either go two way again,

B being so low that they answer anything A asks -> A pities B and becomes soft-> A saves B -> turns out C bad -> A and B defeats C and fell in love in the process.

or ORRR ORRRRR (this is the one I love 😁)

B is dying BUT B is still stubborn and defiant -> A still thinks B is annoying but maybe has a bit of pity and curiosity so A asks B what C did -> ever since B got defeated, B kind of grows a hate for A (and of course, hates C more) but answers anyway...bcs A is forcing B to- -> A shooketh, A was like "holy shit...C did what?", B just stays quiet, not wanting to talk to C and also B is like "yeah, why do you care?" -> A kinds of zips it, but inside, A had a small awakening. Maybe A thought C was someone above, not knowing about this and now is doubting C. -> A goes to find out more while B is still sad and prisoned -> Turns out all B said was true, A's awakening became bigger -> A plots a plan (so this is kind of like evil vs evil but we're trying to make the less evil win) -> maybe B helped? Maybe didn't? Doesn't matter, point is A wins and C is defeated -> A rules now, maybe even sort of owns B in a "you're free to do whatever you want but you're mine (because I saved you) " kind of way/ made a deal with B so now B and A lives peacefully with each other -> BUT THIS TIME B REALLY REALLY REALLY HATES A remembering all the time before C came, A doesn't really care about it -> B kind of stays away from A, ignoring and giving A the cold shoulder -> A becomes annoyed with this attitude and decides to talk about it to B -> they fight, drama, B breaks down, A sighs and is like "..fine, im sorry. I can't stand you ignoring me like this, what do you have in mind?" -> they make a deal -> a bit more freedom for B, maybe B now just works for A with some conditions from B (B doesn't kill or anything) -> they now really do live in peace but still a bit awkward -> B finds someone, a new enemy? A new villain? disguises as a good person. B doesn't know and was leaning to that person's comfort -> A notices and tells B -> B stubborn and defiant -> A is like "fine, do whatever you want" But A had a really bad feeling in their gut, as if they just can't let that happen but acts ignorant on the outside (this, I think I where the romance starts) -> B goes to a date with the person but oh no! A was right all along! Was B going to die? That can't be! B is strong! -> But nope lol, the person turns to be stronger -> A comes out of nowhere (Jk, they've been watching from the bushes) and saves B -> B half heartedly thanked A -> A sighs and was like "look, just let me take care of you alright? You're an idiot and you're too reckless for your own good" -> B is defiant and in denial, "You? I can handle myself. I'm fine" but in the end agrees with A..still half heartedly -> A is in a close proximity with B? B lives with A now? JKJK this is so unrealistic, maybe a new enemy. Doesn't have to be C, idk -> B's in a life threatening situation -> A saves B and almost dies, giving B their last words -> B was like "no no no, please. I'm sorry. I love you, come back. Come back to me, I'm so sorry" And cried cradling A in their arms-> A shocked, and was like "B loves A?" but they were dying so they just smiled and was going to accept their death -> THEIR LAST KISS????? (Bonus) -> A gods miracle happened / if you want it to be really realistic then maybe A can be saved logically..somehow. -> A and B hugs each other, kiss again bcs why not, happy ending, lives happily ever after with B loving A the fullest and A loving B too but also being so apologetic for trying to kill B in the past, just straight up on their knees worshipping B with love, realizing how much they love B and could even go a bit possessive about B cause they're just naturally selfish. I hope Jimin was in his savage era on Jk's day. Hope he watched some of these episodes back and was like you know what, you kinda were being an unnecessary pain in my Jibooty. Hope he just gave him a bro pat and was like Happy bday bro and ignored him the rest of the day. Jk sitting there waiting for his predictable annual Jimin bday post he's gotten use to and it doesn't come. Remember how Jk said his bday sucked last year to a reporter & said he didn't get traditional soup And we find out Jimin said he called JK, he probably didn't see him in person & that is why it sucked. Jungkook loves and I don't have a problem with the way he loves. Like let's not get it twisted. He probably loves hard between the two. But loving someone and relating with someone are two different things.

And I feel that's were many people lose the plot when it comes to those two.

Jimin is extremely brilliant and relating to people. He has all the right emotional skills to relate with people. I'm just gonna say Jungkook is a bit lacking in that department so he can come off as aloof to some people.

But that doesn't in no way shape or form negate the love they each have for the other. Like I have no doubt on my mind Jimin and Jungkook love eachother.

And I know Jimin is confident in Jungkook's love towards them and more importantly he's confident in his own emotional skills to help them relate well in their relationship.

And listen, my guy, Jimin will choose his dynamic with Jungkook and perhaps has more confidence in the potential of a successful relationship with Jungkook than he has in Taehyung for example.

He's willing to forgive and Jungkook is willing to be told what he needs to do no matter how stubborn he may be.

I've learned and grown so much from their dynamic and in a perfect world I want to be like Jimin but right now Jungkook is where am at and if I sink low I'm a Taehyung 💀

I want to be so good at relating with people, not react impulsively, not let people's shit stirr up my own shit like people dont understand just how much Jimin brings to the table.

But I've a been a Jimin and I tell it's exhausting

So... It seems I'm at the last reading update... I actually didn't plan to cram so much into one post, but I got really into reading for a day or two, and then managed to get to the last 50ish pages and said fuck it. I'm not gonna say much except that I didn't expect for it to be that bloody, then at the end got so used to it that I had no other choice to just close the book and think to myself "Well. This happened." I will be writing a concise review as I do with each book I read, but I'm just gonna say I loved it very much. (This is, of course, a big understatement, but yeah... I'll gush about it in my review.) SPOILER WARNING! (Like always.)

Without further ado, my thoughts:

I might have been unbothered by the first two deaths, but I sure as hell am not ok after the end of Act 3. Was all that really necessary?? 😭😭

Yooo that scene when Gideon forces Harrow to siphon from her again is??? Hhhhhh... Made me feel a few things. Here's a graphic rendition:

I'm glad Harrow is banning Gideon from seeing Dulcinea. And the thing she mentions about the keys - she's right, it really doesn't make sense. It stuck out to me before, but I just forgot to comment on it. In any case, it's extremely suspicious. Protesilaus is also probably missing because of a distinct reason, related to his adept. Wouldn't be surprised if the Seventh is the one going around killing people.

Of course Silas turned out to be a little weasel. But at least Colum has some dignity.

Oh yeah, Corona is definitely not a necromancer.

Ok, but why am I not surprised that Harrow is the one who had her fingers in Protesilaus's disappearance? Honestly, she's the second most suspicious person in the mansion, but I love her, so I don't care.

First plot twist I have not expected. At all. I'm shooketh, as one might say.

Oooh, but the big revelation was good! It was just a matter of time, so my reaction was more like "Ah! Finally!", than :O (Future me talking here: I'm not entirely sure what this is referring to? I'd guess it was about the Locked Tomb.)

Stuff just kept happening and people just kept dying. Didn't even get the chance to write it all out, and another one was on the floor. Anyway... WHAT THE FUCK.

Honestly, I thought stuff would get all tangled up and I would lose my footing, as I heard most people do. (Or will, in the next book.) So I'm just glad I could follow along quite nicely. It all made sense in the end, even the stuff about Dulcinea. I wasn't too surprised she's the culprit, I'm just surprised how she's the culprit.

"I can't conceive of a universe without you in it." Again, Muir going straight for the jugular. I know she likes to kill off her characters, but she doesn't need to kill of her readers as well.

Ok, you know what. I knew there would be no happy ending. We all knew Harrow couldn't become Lyctor without Gideon dying. So, I am not surprised it happened. But I am also NOT OKAY.

Man, I love Harrow. I love her in the epilogue. I love her in the last chapter. I love how much she cares, how much she always cared. And I love how her relationship with Gideon evolved over time. Ugh. Uuughhh!

Ok, yeah... This was an experience. I'll be ordering Harrow soon and.... Yeah. I'm (not) prepared for more heartbreak.
