-just in general i feel like the player isn't the only one controlling kris... like yes the player forced kris to do what happened in the snowgrave route but AT THE SAME TIME idk it feels like there's someone else too. just because of the terrifying voice i suppose. and also the jerky movement kris does every time they get their soul out? unless there's another reason for it... maybe getting your soul out means you walk weird lol

Kris Dreamurr head cannons

- They are near mute. They still choose to speak here and there but near as much their friends do. There have been many many many people that assumed them to be completely mute only to be shocked when they did speak.

- They have Pica. Witch is why they eat moss like they did. They just feel so compelled to consume moss. Moss zombie.

- They put bugs in their mouth. Not spiders or bees but harmless bugs. They don’t eat them just hold the bugs in their mouth. Everyone hates it.

- They have an odd habit of rubbing their own stomach when anxious. Nervous habit but everyone always thinks they have an upset stomach. Ralsei makes them a lot of calming tea for upset stomachs. They never tell Ralsei the truth because they like the tea.

- They are a weird calm chaotic mix. They are expressionless and creepy but they have a seriously strange sense of humor. Their humor is also something that takes a little time to show through.

- Their class dosent exactly hate Kris they just think they are weird. They try to engage them but its difficult to tell if they are being a jackass or not.

- Kris has social media and uses it regularly. They shockingly have a lot of followers because their content is so weird yet funny. Pictures of weird shit theyve doodled, different fungi they’ve picked, pictures of animals with hats drawn on them, actually funny memes, and pictures of them in generally weird places like sitting in the sink, planking over the tub, under the sofa, balancing on top of an opened door.

- They do these things because they think its funny, they don’t care much if others think its funny. They also wont do it on cue when someone wants them to. People have come up to them with a camera wanting them to do something for them and they just leave.

- Shockingly cuddly. They really do like being scooped up and held tight.

- They like being in the dark. They creep around in the dark like a creature all the time constantly scaring the shit out of others.

- They can speak goat. Its a language in the Dreamurr house so they picked it up. They are scary good at it managing to sound exactly like a goat. They don’t do it in public it draws too much attention.

- It shocked the ever loving hell out of Susie when Kris started bleating like a goat at Ralsei, she thought that Kris had already snapped. Ralsei was taken aback but he responded in the same manor. Susie just watched them making goat sounds at each other for 10 minutes trying to figure out if she's being pranked.

- They allow being carried, dragged, thrown, squeezed or hugged tight enough it hurts. They are really weird about pain. They don't complain about pain they just deal with it wordlessly.

- Susie always carries Kris around like a football under her arm. She picks them up by one arm up to her face so she doesn't have to bend down to hear them. She holds them up to their ear like a phone all the time so they can whisper and murmur into her ear.

- Their voice is very low and smooth, they keep it real quiet as much as they can often needing to lean in close to gently speak into ears. Its kind of creepy but one gets used to it after a little bit.

- Its impossible to gender their voice its a mixture of male and female.

- They love soda. Like a lot!. They are not aloud to have soda during the week however so they are nearly going feral for it by Friday.

- Sometimes Susie hooks Kris up with some secret soda during the week because they legit has almost withdrawal symptoms and it scares her seeing the look in their eyes sometimes.

- They really scared Susie once when they dropped their soda. They just stood there their fingers clawed in rage where the can used to be, they started shaking and baring their teeth. Susie quickly gave them her soda out of fear Kris would snap or implode.

- They stick their tounge out when they stretch. Noelle has so many pictures of it.

- They become irrationally angry when shown Tootsie Rolls. Pictures or the real thing they just get angry enough to stomp their foot and leave in a huff its bizarre.

- They were chased by a hoard of cats once. They were just trying to eat lunch outside but ended up back inside with the cats watching them from outside. That so far is the first time their class saw their eyes because of just how fast they were booking it.

- They are little! very small! roughly 5 ' 4 in height and quiet light.

- They have very tired eyes. They are tried and have bags under them but are lemon shaped witch can look a little bit creepy. They actually have bug eyes, meaning their eyes look far too big for their face kind of like Rami Malak. They are a pinkish shade of red almost a salmon color.

- Susie hates their eyes so they pull their hair back and stare at Susie to mess with her. They've master the art of not blinking for a long time so it just even more creepy

- They can't really see all that well. They've had their eyes checked and have found that they will be partly blind by age 37.

- Kris's eyes are also very sensitive to light. It's something about the color. They can hardly handle the lights in the school and stores.

- Distance sight is based on motion for them. Susie could stand clear at one end of the hallway and Kris at the other end. She sands perfectly still and Kris cannot see her or will not know she's there.

- One would think that Susie would be used for interrogation but its Kris. Kris is real creepy and unpredictable, they can easily get someone to talk

First impression

"Frisk but older." (me being an absolute dumbass before even playing the game) "Odd, fictional characters always put stuff on their room, not Kris, how strange." And seeing the birdcage in the morning I went "I bet they'd like playing in the mud, idk why but they like the dirt."

Impression now

I feel like I know a lot about them and not at the same time. They're going through a lot of stuff and seem pretty lonely. It's not something they particularly mind but it still makes them stand out. I don't know.

And yet it's still clear they care so much about people, the friend's they've made... God I love them.

Favorite moment

Oh man, it's hard to tell since so much of it is Our Choice instead of theirs. However, I love the trash orb interactions inmensely. They put the contents of a room on top of their head, balance it like a pro, and you know what? If you call Toriel before walking on her and Alphys talking, they straight up tell her they made a trash orb akjdhakjdsak it's only after Alphys says they're "normal" that Kris chooses to say that instead.

Idea for a story

Kris and the red soul attempting to commmunicate in odd ways, Kris reopening closed fountains to see what's up with those places, and maybe see the consequences of closing fountains and taking the Darkners that reside in there.

Unpopular opinion

Kris has good social skills but they just like to annoy people on purpose. They know damn well how to ACT when facing any enemy, and they are good with coming up with excuses or communicating interest or disinterest with their tone, they just choose to act a little creepy because it's funny.

Favorite relationship

Their friendhsip with Susie!!!!!!! I personally took some time to like Susie, because of her actions before entering the dark world. However that's changed, especially since we've seen more of the story, and I just LOVE the way Kris and Susie seem to vibe together so well. Besides, I trully believe she's the hero of Deltarune, and I think if anyone would notice something's up with Kris and find a way to help them, it's her.

Favorite headcanon

This was really difficult to choose, but I think they're the type of child that learned to walk on their hands, standing upside down and then did it everywhere. If they could climb walls they would. Anyways, that's why they have such good balance. They'd make a decent gymnast, but they don't have that same energy or time anymore.

The day was finally here!

Toriel packed the basket with care while simultaneously calming her own nerves. Why was she even nervous? It wasn't like this was the first time she had been on a date with anyone since the divorce.

Her face took a rather hard expression as she thought about that. Thinking about Asgore just made her so irritated sometimes. Oh, the divorce had been an easy and amicable one, but...old irritations seemed to be working their way out the longer they were out of a relationship. She never wanted to get back together with him. That chapter in her life was over.

"...18 years, though."

The voice made her jump as she looked over at Kris who was slinking their way around the doorway.

"What was that, sweety?"

"You and...Dad were married for 18 years, almost exactly." There was no real feeling in their words, but their red eyes betrayed a kind of deep emotion. Sadness? Bitterness? Hopelessness? It was almost unreadable.

"That's right." Toriel said as she closed the picnic basket.

"And now you're on a date?"

"Just a picnic with Sans."

"...he gives me the creeps."

"He says much the same about you."

Kris blinked and opened the fridge taking some leftover chocolate pie out. They said nothing, but just fixed themselves a slice and went to the table and sat down with it.

"... Any plans today?"

"...hanging out with Susie."

"Oh? I'm so glad that you have a friend, Kris." Toriel said as she gently ruffled their hair and kissed the top of their head. "Be good today, alright."

Kris nodded, a mouthful of pie keeping them from answering. They swallowed the first bite quickly and said, "...you, too."

Toriel smiled, picked up the basket, "I will." She said as she went out the door to the minivan, placing the basket on the passenger seat and starting it up. She made a y-turn and pulled out of the driveway heading south towards the town proper.

"it'll be fine, Paps. I'm just going on a picnic."

"WITH TORIEL."

"yes."

"ISN'T SHE FROM THE SCHOOL?"

"yes again. if you need anything, just call my cell."

"...OK"

Sans stepped out of the house and locked the door. His brother had been so skittish about this. It wasn't like this was serious or anything. It was JUST lunch.

He took in a deep breath. The flowers were blooming, the birds were singing, on days like today... He shook his head, his left eye going blue for a second before he calmed down. "wrong place...wrong place." He whispered to himself as he rubbed the back of his skull.

Thankfully before he had too much time to contemplate anything, Toriel arrived in her minivan. She moved the basket and rolled down the window.

"hey, can i come in? feeling a little exhausted here."

Toriel chuckled. "Of course. Wouldn't want to leave you parked too long."

Sans' grin got bigger as he slid into the passenger seat. He set a plastic shopping bag on his lap. "yeah, I was afraid you would...drive away before i could see yah today."

"Ah, you seem to have already bested me during our time together today. You might have to be pulled over for speeding."

Sans chuckled at that. "You may be right. I might have just ran a red light already."

Toriel parked at the park and got out, going around and opening the door for Sans and then getting the basket out of the back. Sans followed her to the picnic table. "this was the perfect day for this, Toriel." he said as he helped set everything up.

"Indeed it is."

They settled down and sat at the table that was spread with sandwiches, chips, soda, and pie. There were also napkins and hotdogs, ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, and chili.

They both fixed their plates and began eating. Toriel was quiet for a moment and then began with, "you know...Kris wasn't too happy about this."

Sans looked at the sandwich she had, "oh? they don't like sandwiches?" He joked, though he knew where she was leading with this. He sighed. "yeah, pa-my brother wasn't too keen on it either."

Toriel frowned, chewing and swallowing. "I suppose this makes it awkward then for us to continue with...wherever this is going."

"i dunno." He said, taking a bite of some chips. "do you want to stop right now?"

She smiled and shook her head. "Not really, but I have to take Kris's feelings into account."

"and I have to think about my brother."

They both took a drink of soda at the same time, when a small acorn landed right into the pie with a splat.

"well, that is absolutely nuts." the skeleton said in almost too much of a relieved way.

Toriel laughed, also pleased. "Looks like it may have cracked the tension."

Sans grinned wider and came back with another pun while making a hot dog for himself and her.

She laughed and responded.

In the thick trees across the way, a red eye gleamed and a slingshot was put away before the owner of them slinked away quietly to go join up with a large purple monster.

"Mission Accomplished." They said mysteriously once they encountered her.

"Mission...what? Sometimes you're so weird, Kris."

They said nothing, but hid a small smile as they followed Susie, putting the slingshot in their pocket.

Okay so your like the only other deltarune person I know but I need your input on an idea. Okay so you know how Jevil and Spamton got knowledge on how its all a game from Gaster? What if Ralsei is the same thing. Thats how hes able to make tutorials like that.

I mean, we don’t actually know if Kris is making all the dark worlds, or all of them except Ralsei’s, or just the one we see them making, or what. if you lean towards option b or c then that opens up the possibility that Ralsei’s whole dark world could even be made by Gaster

then there’s the matter of just where the hell did Ralsei’s prophecy come from in the first place?? like what’s the deal with that?

one thing I can think of just off the top of my head is that it seems like Gaster is linked/connected/involved in some way with all the dark worlds, including Ralsei’s, since the Entry 17 garbage noise plays when you try to use the phone in any of them

(plus entry 17 is where “darker yet darker” comes from, and Ralsei mentions his own dark fountain being made of “pure darkness”, as opposed to the other ones which...... aren’t? I guess?)

then there’s the fact that all three of Jevil, Spamton, and Ralsei have information they... really should have no way of knowing??

like you said with the video game aspect, both Ralsei and Jevil mention video game mechanics; with Ralsei it’s partly because he’s the tutorial guy, but there’s also that “who the hell is X” bit in Chapter 1, and then there’s Jevil’s “it’s a simple numbers game, if your HP reaches zero you lose” (very badly paraphrased lol) Jevil also makes a reference to the Queen, who ended up being the main antagonist of Chapter 2, which is just like...... how did he know that?? the computer lab dark world hadn’t even been made yet

I don’t remember Spamton referencing video game stuff (though I could have just forgotten), but he does mysteriously know Kris’s name, and I know lots of people are suspicious of how Ralsei knew Kris and Susie’s names. and I think it’s very plausible that Spamton’s knowledge came from Gaster

then there’s the shadow crystal things that get left behind by each secret boss, which show the light world when you look through them, so Jevil and Spamton may have seen through them also? and you totally could connect this to Ralsei’s mysterious knowledge of the light world

honestly with only two chapters out just about everything is still on the table! that’s why it’s so fun to theorize! this whole post was just me throwing spaghetti at the wall, but look how much spaghetti I found to throw!

Ralsei’s a mysterious guy and pretty much anything could be going on with him at this point, and I think you could do some really interesting things with this theory!

this isnt quite what you asked but heres what's everyone from chapter 1 has been Up To with a little bit of context (and under a read more bc it got LENGTHY):

kris - professional stay at home teen (they live w/ asgore n help run the flower shop sometimes. this decision was entirely bc i dont like toriel). was wrongly diagnosed w Sudden Soul Rejection when they were incredibly young and given an experimental transplanted soul as a replacement. it works for them fine, give or take having to see gaster once a month for checkups. but sometimes the soul makes them skittish n decides they're going to sit in front of the pc and play 30 consecutive hours of a certain simulation game and not even let them drown people in the pool. if it were entirely up to them, they'd be like. passing out on the sofa to documentaries about bigfoot. or practicing cool knife tricks to impress their friends at their next tabletop meetup

- EDITED IN: the soul is kind of their friend. they are wearing a hypothetical get along shirt. most of the time, they agree on actions and things to do. tends to refer to themself + their soul as we/us which originally was just something they did in their head but they kept slipping in speech/text n just became a Thing of how they talk. switches to 'I/Me' whenever smth is wrong.

toriel - head of H0MEWOR1D (H01)'s department of education; kind of lost her roots as a simple math teacher as she was pushed into a lot of power she didn't even really seek out. divorced asgore over some miscommunications in their relationship; also loosely as a result of grief from asriel's death

asgore - the same. runs a lil flower/gift shop. people come in more to talk with him than to buy flowers most of the time, though

asriel Flowey - he's back in flower form, thanks to the government an accident. causes a lot of technology glitches wherever he goes, and wants revenge. isn't sure how to go about it. asriel "died" around 8 years before the story takes place and kris still misses him and refuses to even THINK about even the IDEA of calling someone their sibling after what happened, just in case it somehow happens a second time

susie - more of the same really. she spends most of her time either at grillby's (she's sort of become his assistant n helps with opening/closing. it just happened) or getting into low-stakes trouble w/ kris

noelle - she's in the city's equivalent of college and shes so tired. shes So Abysmally Tired n got kinda pushed 2 follow in her mom's footsteps. she's rarely around anymore except through text or on monsters & mages (dnd) night. (however.........she will come back w/ a long break n hang out w everyone again)

berdly - tbh i didnt even consider berdly when i made the au initially. idk what he's doing. probably in a similar situation to noelle??? canonically got kicked out of the M&M group due to clashes w/ other players but lurks in their group chat to posts memes sometimes

didnt rly think of any other of kris' classmates (+ their families) after ch1 and probably will continue to not, until chs 3-5 come out and i gotta whip up roles and histories for like. a lotta guys all of a sudden. i also forgot about noelle's parents

sans - runs a convenience store that everyone kind of thinks is a front, but also it has really cheap snacks and the local teens make a point of stopping there after school. so essentially, more of the same papyrus - similar to ut. is a very polite and sweet boy but you'll know when he's coming

grillby - he's back. he runs a bar like back in ut but the cozy vibes and weird-for-a-bar hours keep attracting kids who need parents, so half of his menu is comprised of overly sweet mocktails. usually only frequented by monsters

QC - same as usual. has a "rivalry" with grillbz but, theyre besties and have a book club

mettaton - he's real and he's back. he's similar to how he is back in ut w/ his EX body. likes to hang out at grillby's and talk to unsuspecting fans. has a show for everything

napstablook - similar to how they are in ut. helps mtt with making music sometimes. doesn't leave the house too often, but spends a lot of time posting on undernet

undyne - unfortunately. more of the same. she is a cop in the monster district. i am also upset by this but couldn't think of anything better for her

alphys - a doctor studying under dr. gaster in the hopes she'll one day take over his research. she spends most of her time as a nurse with a bigger title, though, and blocks out the weirdness of her job with anime.

gaster - weird guy. H01's top soul researcher and resident House wannabe. trying to manufacture the ultimate soul that can be controlled with simple internal switches, but so far he's only had 1 (very limited) success with a certain human. monsters just melt, and darkners just sorta......get weird... he's onto Something, though.

ralsei - lonely boy with some very strange hobbies. popular on UnderNet for poetry, baking videos, and general cryptid vibe. is the DM for the monsters & mages group (also seems to think everything is actually very fine in H01 when it is very much not)

lancer - about the same. professional Round Boy. lives w/ rouxls full time. follows susie around like a lost puppy and calls himself her "underling."

rouxls - runs a hotel/casino kind of deal where the objective Bad Guys hang out, and usually ends up doing any of the spade king's paperwork.

spade king - mafia godfather. kind of a dick. don't play cards with him

seam - works with the spade king as his right hand cat more or less because they have for a lot of years and are in that 'sunk cost fallacy' zone. thinks of retiring to a quiet life in the monster section of town like, daily

jevil - used to work with the spade king, but got imprisoned for Crimes. got weird after The Accident (separate from asriel's accident)

temmies (all) - dont really get mentioned except offhandedly but they run the monster space station. so far, are the only monsters who have ever been to space.

as far as chapter 2 goes:

yeah i dont have much so far for characters. in the original version of the au i accidentally made darkners as a whole just kinda..... not great? like all sorts of weird organized crime ties n sort of going out of their way to be A Problem to the city (not even in like. a revolution way. in a working against them but with the same goals kinda way). with the whole context it worked At The Time, bc i just had the spade king to look to as a villain, and also in this au the darkners are just trying to survive a world that ultimately was not built for them (that humans think they own, and monsters sort of... seeing this and wondering what it'll mean for them whichever one wins), but w/ new info abt how the dark world works n more guys to work with i want to kind of. edit the vibe a bit. like yea darkners will ultimately do whatever it takes to take over H01, but maybe in a better way than like. idk. all this. it doesnt have to be peaceful or anything it just has to be more adaptable as we meet more kinds of darkners

however yeah i thought up 'queen as some sort of childless mommy blogger/influencer' and that completely revived all memory i had of this au. she should be on mtt's talkshow. also she sells collectible wine glasses w/ her likeness

spamton is another one of gaster's failed soul experiments, but he hasn't melted yet, and seems............fine? sort of. so he hasn't gotten decommissioned yet. he does want to give you malware tho. hot monster singles in your area n all that

Oh the extra stuff I found on the lore run.. man

- Toriel has checked out a book on caring for humans REPEATEDLY years ago (do the six fallen humans exist in DR and if so are they also dead?)

- The bunker at the bottom of town.. Kris has a connection to it. It’s implied they’d been there and, according to the other kids, had done something that warranted labeling them a weenie? Susie also asks if Kris is okay after which implies that whatever their connection to that place is it is Not Good (Are their more humans down there? Are the corpses of the previous children Toriel cared for down there?)

- Kris is an exceptional student, one of the top three even, and the awards lined up on the other side of the room belong to them.. at least according to their dark world equivalent room? In any case if that is their bed or not (both the over world and dark world beds are referred to as “your bed”) they find comfort in Asriel’s side of the room

- SPEAKING OF ASRIEL!! HIS PERSONALIZED ROOM IN QUEEN’S MANSION?? Kris deliberately closes their eyes so the player is unable to see anything and it just makes me think.. they do the same avoidant attic when it comes to viewing the pictures of the children inside the how to care for humans book

- Kris enjoys cartoons! They find comfort in being able to “be a kid” given the fact that they feel immense relief at the where teens can be kids message on the bulletin board/ likewise feeling “drained” when reading cartoon reviews on the same board

- KRIS HAS STUDIED THE OCCULT WITH CATTI?? THEY’VE ALWAYS LIKED MAGIC AND THE LIKE!!! They’ve got how to use magic in their search history, they ask when their horns are gonna grow in and get real attached to stand in horns, they want to fit in with their family so bad it makes my heart ache… this is under the assumption that magic is still used by surface monsters in DR of course!

- It really just sank in that Kris has a Personal knife that Toriel can recognize and they are generally drawn to knives as a whole.. yikes!

- I also noticed that Kris seems to guide the player at points? Reminding us that we can’t let Toriel see them balancing a ball of junk on their head when you spy on her and Alphys’ conversations, pointing out that we need to go back to the dark world Now by passive aggressively stating that the route we’re going down doesn’t lead to the closet

- Kris has emotion in their voice!! They react to things you tell them to say!!! Like being.. concerningly enthusiastic about perishing, and being Real fucking confused when you suggest bringing Ralsei to the town festival thing

- I never realized that based on telling Noelle if Susie likes chalk, she may bring Susie a lunchbox full of it at the end of the school portion of the beginning!
