sarah jane spends the majority of her adult life believing her parents abandoned her as a baby leaving her alone in a pram to be adopted by her auntie but it turns out in the end that she was the one who caused the events that led all of that to happen and essentially dropped her baby self off on the doorstep of a new life. something to think about regarding ruby sunday and figures under a hooded black cape. im on to you rtd. the trickster legit sounds like a member of the pantheon. maybe he’s running the tv show

The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith
Okay, yeah, it's the same basic plot as Father's Day, but refined and polished to an absolute gem. Sarah says several times that she should know better, but the emotional impulse is too strong. The fact that she never knew her parents, that she always wondered about them.... combined with the fact that she's now a mother herself. It adds so much more complexity to it. And yes, the whole world is under threat from the Trickster, not just a Time Reaper paradox, but the Doctor isn't there, (despite the lovely police box cameo), and she's alone, having to make that awful decision.
And Sarah's parents are brilliant, figuring it out on their own.

Family Feud Nominations, Who is the Best Doctor Who Family
If I've missed a character out of one of the families let me know (within reason, I imagine all these families are massive in the EU, so prioritise tv or significant characters)
Currently, the only rule is no families may inculde anyone who is even ambiguously The Doctor, it'll get super complicated super fast imo
Any characters, eg River, who can link up multiple different families to create a single massive family unit will be treated on a case by case basis. If it is possible to pick one of the smaller family units that they are a part of to include them in while not including them in any of the others (in a way everyone will agree at least makes sense) they will be included in that family only, otherwise they will not be included
Please bare in mind when you are nominating that I am hoping to keep the number of nominations under 64 to run this as a mini-tournament. This is not a hard rule so if nominations do exceed 64 its not a big deal, just something I'd like everyone to bare in mind

Okay, I’ve been seeing some speculation about this as we’ve gone through the season and I just wanted to put it all together before the finale kicks off.
Spoilers ahead! A lot of it is speculation but there are a few things that are actual spoilers.
The Doctor mentioned the Pantheon (of Discord), of which the Trickster is the only named character that we knew of until Maestro.
As someone pointed out elsewhere, when Ruby is in her trance, she’s humming a song before it switches to the Christmas song. It’s the same as the Trickster’s theme:
Video: https://x.com/reyhickmanmusic/status/1791284401952768212?s=43&t=m10ek-WTV5K8_EK4owpIpA
There was meant to be a storyline in SJA where it was revealed that Sky was actually the Trickster’s daughter, but it never played out because of the show getting canceled. The ‘Thirteenth Floor’ storyline was reworked for another TV show that RTD created, so it’s not impossible that he may have reused some of those elements with Ruby’s background.
The scene in ‘The Devil’s Chord’ is obviously paralleled to the one in ‘Pyramids on Mars’ with something happening in the past causing ripples out to the future, showing a destroyed London. This is also the M.O. of the Trickster, seen most obviously in ‘The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith.’
In fact, the concept of alternative timelines has been a running theme throughout this season.
Tumblr media
In Tales of the TARDIS, we get  the scenes with Clyde and Jo, where the Verron puzzle box is brought up; the very thing that can be used to protect someone from the Trickster. And there was an interview that said:
“Showrunner Russell T Davies has hinted that there is more going on with the Tales of the TARDIS spin-off. Speaking in a recent interview to SFX Magazine, Davies said: “There are bigger plans behind this that we can’t talk about yet. Eventually, [Tales of the TARDIS] will begin to make more sense as the series next year unfolds, you will see. But it’s really a lovely thing to do for the 60th.””
In some of the trailers, there’s a very quick glimpse of the Doctor standing in the Memory TARDIS, with Mel and Ruby behind him.
Tumblr media
Harbinger = Graske?
Next season - Harbinger spotted on a sign at a movie theater
Tumblr media
The scene above with the harbinger sign is coincidentally being filmed on Penarth Pier in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, which is where part of the episode 'Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?' was filmed, specifically the pier scene where Andrea falls and the Trickster shows up for the first time.
I don’t know if this is enough to prove that the Trickster is coming back, but it’s all very interesting. It could be next season as well, depending on how things pan out in the finale

Doctor Who - The Trickster Discourse
While I'm glad everyone is discussing Sarah Jane Adventures after so many years, there's one bit of the discourse around The Trickster that has been bugging me:
Everyone is saying the Trickster was defeated by children. Or by Sarah Jane. And that this makes him a laughable threat. But... he wasn't. And he isn't.
The first time we see him in "Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane", it was Andrea Yates -- the 56 year old, not the 13 year old -- rescinding her agreement that banished him.
The second time, it was the Smiths sacrificing themselves in "The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith".
The third time, in "The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith", it was Peter rescinding his agreement.
Now the kids were a major help in all of these cases - Maria made her father and Andrea aware of the time discrepancy, Rani was able to inform Sarah Jane how the Trickster took over and let slip her name in front of Mrs. Smith, the kids helped the Doctor close the time loop. And Sarah Jane too was not entirely helpless - she convinced Andrea and Peter not to let the Trickster win, and tried to fix her own mistake in "Temptation".
But the ultimate defeat depended on someone letting themselves die tragically, for the sake of Sarah Jane and the world.
Even if we look back at "Turn Left", which was caused by a member of the Trickster's brigade, that took Alternate Donna's death to fix. The Doctor could do nothing. Only if his SJA Series 5 appearance had gone as planned would a child have been the main instrument of defeat, since Sky would have given up her human form.
So if the Trickster were ever to come into the main series of Doctor Who, that is not a light threat. Because no matter what, someone is doomed to die.

What is the Best Doctor Who Story Ever Told?
Hello everybody and welcome to this, frankly ridiculously sized, tournament between not only every televised Doctor Who story, not only the spinoffs, not only a large number of minisodes, but over a 100 audios and dozens of other stories from other corners of the EU.
Now we will have to whittle over 600 stories down to jusst one, that is a lot of matches, a lot of rounds, just a lot, until very late in the game, rounds will be posted across several days. Right now the goal is to post (up to) new matches daily from Sunday to Thursday, with Friday's a day off for my own sake, which in my current plan places the final on the 18th of December (thats right, this'll be out of date before its even over, during round 2 in fact)
You can use this form to submit propaganda for your favourite stories (or anti propaganda for ones you hate). there is a more checkable list of nominations here if you want to know what you can submit propaganda for
without further ado
ROUND 1 (Group Stage)
earlier in the year I ran some polls between televised Doctor Who stories, the top 50% for each Doctor have automatically advanced to Round 2, which is why (a) there are stories missing, and (b) the groups between the remaing stories are a lot deadlier
Every day will have groups from across the Doctor Who Universe, from Classic Who, New Who, TV Spinoffs, and the EU

I recently asserted that Sarah-Jane and the Bannerman Road kids rarely stumble across trouble, trouble comes to fuck with them. I have decided to test if my assertion is true, the numbers are as follows
investigative journalism (characters investigate a company/phenomenom/disappearace/whatever and find aliens): 9/37 stories
an accident (no matter what these characters would have been involved, wrong place wrong time): 5/37 stories
fuck you (antagonists are specifically messing with Sarah-Jane or the Bannerman Road kids, sometimes for the sake of it, sometimes because its part of their plans for world domination): 17/37 stories
fuck you Sarah-Jane (the antagonist wants Sarah): 10/37 stories
fuck you Luke: 3/37 stories
fuck you Clyde: 5/37 stories
fuck you Rani: 5/37 episodes
please note some of the episodes count for multiple categories, obviously every fuck you is targeted, sometimes at multiple people, but sometimes different characters get involved in different ways
also bear in mind I have a better memory of some episodes than others so some may be miscounted
the specific breakdown by story is under the cut
Tumblr media
[ID: graphical representation of the cummulative total of types of inciting incident \end ID]
Series 1 (Invasion of the Bane - The Lost Boy)
Investigative Journalism: 3/6 | Accident: 3/6 | Fuck You: 2/6 | Fuck You Sarah-Jane: 1/6 | Fuck You Luke: 1/6
Invasion of the Bane: Sarah-Jane does investigative journalism, Maria is on a tour of the factory when shit hits the fan (1 investigative journalism, 1 accident)
Revenge of the Slitheen: Slitheen infiltrate the kids new school (accident)
Eye of the Gorgon: investigating ghosts at an old peoples home (investigative journalism)
Warriors of Kudlak: Maria and Sarah-Jane investigate weird weather patterns and disappearances, Clyde and Luke play laser tag at what turns out to be the front for the alien's plans (1 investigative journalism, 1 accident)
Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane: the Trickster causes Sarah-Jane to die as a teenager so a meteor will destroy the Earth (fuck you Sarah-Jane)
The Lost Boy: Slitheen pretend to be Luke's biological parents so they can use his intelligence (fuck you Luke)
Series 2 (The Last Sontaran - Enemy of the Bane)
Investigative Journalism: 3/6 | Fuck You: 4/6 | Fuck You Sarah-Jane: 2/6 | Fuck You Clyde: 2/6 | Fuck You Rani: 1/6
The Last Sontaran: investigating strange lights around a telescope (investigative journalism)
The Day of the Clown: a clown follows Clyde and Rani, they then do investigations, but the clown following is the inciting incident (fuck you Clyde and Rani)
Secrets of the Stars: investigating a guy for who astrology works, his plan would have happened anyway, but the group are interested before that (investigative journalism)
The Mark of the Berserker: this one is difficult to call, ultimately the main antagonist of the episode is Clyde's dad, the episode would have ended a quarter of the way through were it not for Clyde's dad stealing the pendant Rani found, him then getting Clyde to leave with him is what got everyone else involved. Ultimately this one is a combination of Rani investigating why that boy was acting strangely, and Clyde's dad taking Clyde and causing the actual problems (investigative journalism, fuck you Clyde)
The Temptation of Sarah-Jane Smith: the Trickster lays a trap for Sarah-Jane so cause the world to descend into a dystopian hellscape (fuck you Sarah-Jane)
Enemy of the Bane: Miss Wormwood shows back up and asks Sarah-Jane for help, it is a trap but thats how our group get involved (fuck you Sarah-Jane)
Series 3 (Prisoner of the Judoon - The Gift)
Investigative Journalism: 2/6 | Accident: 1/6 | Fuck You: 4/6 | Fuck You Sarah-Jane: 2/6 | Fuck You Luke: 1/6 | Fuck You Clyde: 1/6 | Fuck You Rani: 2/6
Prisoner of the Judoon: Sarah-Jane tracks a pod and they find an alien fugitive (investigative journalism)
The Mad Woman in the Attic: Rani's friend has been emailing her about weird stuff at a themepark local to him, as she is pulled into it by investigation from someone not in the main group, I'm not counting it as investigative journalism (fuck you Rani)
The Wedding of Sarah-Jane Smith: another trap by the Trickster (fuck you Sarah-Jane)
The Eternitiy Trap: this one is tricky, as far as I remember, the group are asked there by some scientist friends, but I don't think it counts as a fuck you deal (investigative journalism, fuck you nobody)
The Mona Lisa's Revenge: the Mona Lisa comes to life while the kids are at the art gallery on a school trip (accident)
The Gift: the Blathereen give the group a gift that turns out to be a bioweapon (fuck you everybody)
Series 4 (The Nightmare Man - Goodbye Sarah-Jane Smith)
Fuck You: 6/6 | Fuck You Sarah-Jane: 4/6 | Fuck You Luke: 1/6 | Fuck You Clyde: 2/6 | Fuck You Rani: 2/6
The Nightmare Man: a being haunts Luke with nightmares (fuck you Luke
The Vault of Secrets: Androvax returns and asks Sarah-Jane for help, its a trick but thats how our group gets involved (fuck you Sarah-Jane)
