Even if she is the type of person who doesn't want anyone else to have Jamie, or succesful career, or a job that's not up to her to decide. Not entirely, at least.
There are a whole lot of factors & people that can change whatever Jess Moloney is trying to do. She (or her family) might have money but money is not everything. Not anymore. She can buy delusional stans & followers on IG but sooner or later she will run out of money or her delusional stans will get tired of this stupid bullsh*t & will find another person to stan.
Jess Moloney is a lost cause whatever she's plotting to do...
There are a huge amount of information against her. And not just some rumors. Undeniable facts & evidence that can bury her life & her so called career in a blink of an eye.
Even if she's about to drop some news bomb about her & Jamie the vast majority of adequate people will refuse to take her word for it.
For some reason, I'm not worried about whatever Jess is about to do. She's way to unimportant without Jamie. Her words doesn't mean much. As well as her silly attempts to gain some attention on IG by showing off JCB photos & videos without his consent.
I just wish Jamie would find the strength & courage withing himself to break the "Jess Moloney" cycle.
I do think he is a very talented musician, singer & storyteller. And I definitely would want to hear his new music. But as a creative person myself I know how hard it is to create something beautiful & genuine when you're in a toxic devastating exhausting relationships...
So I just wish Jamie would find everything he is or was looking for in Jess WITHIN himself.
I do hope that if she ever does something like that he has enough support behind him because I still really think that if she can't have him she will do whatever she thinks it will take to destroy him, even if it means destroying herself in the process.

i feel my heart saying hi [1.3k |character study| Eddie in suits] {ao3} a/n: this started as 5 times Eddie had a panic attack in a suit, but idk that it ended up being that? *shrugs* you'll notice i did not include The Panic Attack in a Suit™️and i just didnt feel like including it cause i wanted to explore things that haven't happened on screen (yet). this is a weird mish mash of spec, my interpretation of canon, and just plain storytelling ig. title inspired by ring of keys from fun home. (iykyk) spoilers for 5b!
July 1995, El Paso
Eddie is 8 years old the first time he remembers wearing a suit. How his mother tightened his tie around his neck is not the reason he feels like he can’t breathe as he sits in the sweltering summer heat in a house of God. He isn’t sure why it feels that way. But his chest is tight and a tear escapes as he grips the arm of the pew. Maybe it was the overwhelming heat. Maybe it was the thought that he had lost his greatest confidant in his family. His namesake. Even christened him with the nickname Eddie on the day he was born. He had told Eddie that story a million times over. How small he’d been. How he was crying until the moment he was in his Abuelo’s arms. He was going to miss the man he would wait at the window for and run down the driveway to hug just ten seconds sooner. And knowing he would miss that for the rest of his life, hurt.
May 2005, El Paso He’s 18 and Zoey Clearwater is laughing as she pins a boutonniere to his suit after he had slipped an elastic band around her wrist with flowers that matched her dress and his tie and pocket square. She’s a sweet girl but they weren’t dating. She was quiet, read books in the cacophonous cafeteria during lunch, and she was on tech crew for the theatre productions. They had been talking backstage during the spring production of The Wizard of Oz when they both admitted to not having dates for prom. And then she’d kissed him. 30 seconds before he had to go on and sing “If I only had a Heart”. He just smiles and darts to the wings after checking that his makeup hadn’t gotten smeared in the process. They dance and have fun, slow dance too. But throughout the night his chest feels tight. And it culminates as he stares at the stage when it’s announced that Alex Higgins (of course) is Prom King and his perfect cheerleader girlfriend, Julie Standford, as Prom Queen. And he can’t breathe because he should want that with Zoey, and maybe what if he wants it with Alex. Well not Alex cause he’s an asshole but someone like Alex. And he’s not even sure what that means. So he swallows and focuses on trying to dance with Zoey. And he’s so focused on doing that, he doesn’t notice Zoey staring at Julie.
October 2010, El Paso He’s 23 with a baby on the way and 1 week out from shipping out to bootcamp. And he’s standing in a side room of a church in an ill-fitting tuxedo. It had been the best they could do on short notice. He’s fiddling with the cuffs of his shirt, making sure they are sticking out just right. Funnily enough it’s the same church as 15 years ago. His eyes water remembering the 8 year old boy, scared of the rest of his life without his grandfather. At the time he thought that would be the scariest thing he would ever face. But here is, 15 years later, 8 months away from being a father, just over 2 months away from being shipped off to a war that started when he was 14 that he didn’t believe needed to be fought. But he loves Shannon. He does. He’s sure of it. And he loves their kid. So he walks out of the little room and stands at the altar, the priest greeting him. And his heart stutters when Shannon appears at the end of the aisle and smiles at him from underneath her veil. But it’s not the way he thinks it should. Tears sprang to his eyes, because she’s beautiful, because it’s too late to run.
May 2019, Los Angeles He’s 32 at a rooftop restaurant, “I’m not pregnant.” and “I think we should get a divorce.” Ringing in his ears. His hand shaking around his glass and the burn of alcohol running down his throat. And he can’t move as Shannon gets up, squeezes his arm as she leaves. He’d lost everything he was supposed to want. What he had. And his heart is hammering in his chest because he doesn’t know if he’ll ever be able to find it again.
May 2022, Los Angeles He looks up over the dance floor and sees Buck, who has Jee balanced on his hip and is holding Chris’ hand on the other side. He’s smiling. Looking free. His tie still comfortably around his neck, and his sleeves rolled up to just below his elbows. And Hen and Karen, perfectly dressed in white, basking in the love of their family, in their love for each other. And again his heart stutters in his chest, and he’s not sure why. A lump forms in his throat. Oh. he thinks. And it isn’t the realization that he’s in love with Buck. He knew that. Had known that. Since last May, the heat of the LA asphalt mixing with the warmth of the fresh blood radiating up hitting his cheek. Since he sat on a hospital bed, not able to look him in the eye, swallowing the meaning behind “You think you’re expendable, but you’re wrong.” because Buck didn’t need to hear “I love you.” not with Ana and Taylor waiting in his living room. It’s not Oh, “I’m queer as all get out.” Because that surprisingly came after “I’m in love with Buck.” in the green papered walls of Frank’s office. He’d never done things in the conventional order anyway. And this Oh, wasn’t helping that consensus. Because this is Oh “he’s my partner” It’s oh, “you’re a miracle worker” “I had to do it” “I know you did” “I misunderstood the assignment” “And that started with you”. It’s oh “I was never going to find it again, because I made it right here with you.” It’s oh, “I could have this”. And it's so much, he can’t breathe. “Eddie? Are you okay?” May asks him where she’s settled down next to him, her shirley temple glass balanced perfectly in her hands. He just looks at her, eyebrows raised a little. “You’re crying,” she states, explaining her question. He was? He brings a hand to his cheek, and sure enough his fingertips come back wet. He swallows and smiles at May, “Did you ever figure out who you wanted to be?” She asks him. And he lets his eyes travel back to Buck and Chris, “I realized I was already that person. I was just too repressed to know it,” he smiles, and May looks at him eyes wide, “Did you figure it out for yourself?” He just asks her, letting his words speak for themselves. He knew she would understand. “I think so.” “I’ll miss your voice on the radio,” he says, pulling her into a side hug. “I didn’t even say anything!” “Eh, I knew both our days were numbered at dispatch since that day. It burning down only confirmed that.” “So, are you going to tell him?” She asks, taking a sip of her drink. “I think so,” he smiles. His heart hammering in his chest.
September 2025, Los Angeles He’s 38 and standing on a small patch of grass outside a wedding venue. His suit perfectly tailored, sleeves sticking out just right. “Hi,” He hears Buck say behind him, “you can turn around now.” And his heart stutters, but he turns around and he’s breathless as he takes in his future husband. Buck’s suit perfectly compliments his. He takes Buck’s hand and spins him around and Buck returns the favor. They end up with their foreheads touching and just looking at each other. Taking a moment for themselves. “Hi,” he breathes “Hi,” Buck smiles back, “I have something for you.” “Does it have to do with the little basket with flowers in it that’s right there?” Eddie laughs as Buck picks up the boutonniere and pins it to his lapel. And his heart settles as he places a peck on his fiance’s lips.
bonus a/n: if you are curious, yes zoey is queer af too. Eddie runs into them a few months after the wedding and they become friends again, them and their wife become Buck and Eddie's couple friends and they go on double dates <3 (i may one day write about them all but i do not need another wip atm)

I'm getting some new followers, which is awesome! So I thought I'd make an intro post of sorts, since Tumblr destroyed my blog theme (to my knowledge) and I have no means of recovering or restoring it. Hi, I'm Aeo. I'm 28 and I'm married. I have 5 happy children that consist of 3 cats and 2 dogs. I also have pillbugs and roaches. Intentionally. As pets. In a terrarium. XD I like video games and good stories. My favorite things right are Stardew Valley, Morrowind, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Kipo, Steven Universe, Parks and Rec, and of course, a few select characters (mostly pro heroes and a couple of the student characters) from BNHA. My favorite storytelling themes are found family, self sacrifice, redemption stories, and unconditional love. Most of my artwork centers around these themes (as well as hurt/comfort.) I used to work on a webcomic called Animus which has been in and out of hiatus since I was a kid. I want to return to it some day. I run a Patreon and Etsy store as a secondary income for my household, so between my husband and I, we can get by. I also take commissions and participate in zines. Right now I'm producing content for the BNHA fandom. I'm more active in these locations: IG: https://www.instagram.com/aeolian_mode/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/AeolianMode Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@aeolian.mode If you like the stuff I do and want to support me, the best ways are Etsy and Patreon. I don't often open commissions directly because I provide monthly commissions through Patreon, but when I do, I announce it. https://www.etsy.com/shop/OwlbugEmporium https://www.patreon.com/animuscomic
Given recent circumstances in my life, every little bit helps and it enables me to continue to regularly make the fun fandom content that you can see here on my blog, which includes comics, fanfics, and illustrations. Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate your interest in my work!

RIP Lynn Shelton --  A True, True Tragedy
Tumblr media
When is this going to end? I certainly didn’t think I’d be spending any of my time today writing about one of my favorite directors and the fact that she died suddenly at the age of 54. I mean, I just saw her last week on an IG Live with Indiewire with current boyfriend, Marc Maron. They were an absolutely adorable couple who we got to see work together on Netflix’s GLOW and in what will now be Shelton’s final film, Sword of Trust.
Lynn and I go way back, and she’s one of the few filmmakers who I had no problem reaching out to friend on Facebook since I first met her way back on Humpday, when I had a fun interview with her, her regular collaborator Mark Duplass, Josh Leonard and Alycia Delmore, the third part of the odd love triangle in that comedy. I remember we did the interview at the Magnolia offices, where I’ve done many interviews, and it was a fun interview where I took a picture of the four of them before I left.  That year, Humpday was all anyone was talking about at Sundance, and I did finally get to see it there but my real journey learning about Lynn came with her next film, Your Sister’s Sister, once again with Mark, but this time joined by Emily Blunt and Rosemarie Dewitt. I interviewed Lynn and the two actresses, possibly at the Park Regency, but that was after going to not one, not two, but THREE premieres for the movie. The first was at TIFF, the second was at Sundance and the third was at Tribeca.
I spoke to Lynn a third time for her movie Laggies, paired with Keira Knightley, and then again, over the phone, when I was fighting cancer in Ohio in 2013 when she had Touchy Feely, one of her rare scripted dramas, and honestly, not my favorite film. But I did get to see her next movie, Outside In, at TIFF and got to talk to her again at the Orchard offices when that was finally released. By last year, I didn’t have a regular gig to interview her for Sword of Trust, but thankfully, Matt Neglia at Next Best Picture let me run it there.
In between all those movies, Lynn started having quite a bit of success on television with shows like Fresh Off the Boat, and then Netflix’s GLOW (where she first started working with Maron) and her Hulu mini-series, Little Fires Everywhere, something she was very excited about when we spoke last year -- it was the first thing for television she exec. produced and directed about half the episodes. Little Fires Everywhere just aired so it was still very fresh in everyone’s mind, but honestly, I have seen almost all her movies, other than maybe Touchy Feely more than once
I probably owe a lot to Adam Kersh for all the times I got to speak with Lynn over the past ten plus years, as he was publicist on both those movies and then continued to work with her as he went into personal publicity. He knew that I have been a fan of Lynn both as a filmmaker and director and as a person from all the times i’ve talked with her. It definitely had been enough times that by Laggies, she knew me by name, and we actually spoke quite a bit over social media in between official interviews.
I would say the same thing if she was still alive right now, but she had such a wonderful personality that made you feel special that you were allowed to spend time with her, and maybe that came from her time in Seattle, creating her own film scene. Kersh used to have a joke about it when I mentioned how much I love talking to her... he called it “Meltin’ for Shelton” and I could totally see how anyone who met her must have had at least a little bit of a crush on her.
I’ll even go so far as to say that I had been working on a script about my brother coming to get me in Vegas when I got stranded there in 2013 after being diagnosed, and she was the only director on my list to direct it. I had told her about it, and I kept pushing myself to get something finished that she could read because I really wanted her to be involved, whether it be as director or even executive producer. I knew that what she could bring to the table as a filmmaker and storyteller could help make up for my shortcomings and inexperience in writing a narrative feature.
I’m still going to keep writing it, and I have a few ideas of others to direct, but I just don’t think it will be the same without having her thoughts on it... even if she ended up hating it.
I’m really just shocked by how fast her life was taken from us and for her family and loved ones, which honestly, has to be everyone she’s ever meet and worked with. I can’t imagine for a second there being a single person on the planet who had anything but love and respect for her. She was just that kind of person... and then super-talented on top of everything else! I can’t even imagine what Marc Maron is going through, and I hope he’s taking a break for a bit to deal with those feelings. (They spoke about a project they had been working on for many years on that Indiewire IG Live last week, which was something I refused to miss.)
Lynn Shelton was only 54, and she had so much more to offer the world, as a filmmaker, as a storyteller, as a director and as a human being. I know I probably didn’t know her as well as others but to hear that she was taken out so quickly by a “blood disorder”... it’s absolutely devastating. I’m going to try to get through the rest of my day, but this one is very, very tough.
Rest in Peace, Lynn Shelton.. if there is an afterlife, I hope you’re making lots of new friends who will love you as much as your friends down here on earth.
[Note: In general, I hate to use someone’s death to promote my own writing, but I wanted to share some of my interviews, so hopefully you can understand how I feel right now while also learning more about what a fantastic filmmaker and person Lynn was.]

Finished Mukuro, Junko, and my simself. Not perfect, but good enough for now. I’ll likely redo the outfits for myself and Junko later, and once I find an accurately colored uniform set I’ll redo all the uniforms. Until then, there will be 2 uniforms for every student: a brown/black set and a gray/black set. I prefer the brown one for accuracy and vibes, but I cannot find any maxis match uniform sets in the right color for all genders.
Tumblr media
Mukuro and I live in a separate apartment from Junko, who has more money and a nicer place because it fits. At some point I will turn the apartments into dorms and every apartment in San Myshuno will be dorms, some being shared.
(By shared I mean separate dorms built on the same apartment lot.)
Once I fill up all the apartments, I might “make my own” in Newcrest. I don’t know how I will do it, but I want an entire save for just Danganronpa (a non-despair au because I like being happy but I could duplicate it once done and make it closer to canon ig).
I’ll probably grab characters from the mangas or light novels if I can find enough information on them, or some from the DR3 anime (as much as I dislike it and refuse to watch it). If I grab anime-only characters then they will be townies most likely, or live in one of those “apartments” in new crest I make maybe. This save us going to look weird but I look forward to the long term goal.
Tumblr media
I have no clue what I’m going to do with Willow Creek or Oasis Springs. I’ll also be ignoring Forgotten Hollow and Glimmerbrook until I figure out what to do with them. Especially since they are occult-centric. Oh! I just remembered Sulani exists.
Maybe I’ll turn Glimmerbrook into Novoselic? Since it’s widely not important and has few lots. The magic doesn’t fit but we could ignore it since it’s a portal to another realm anyways.
Sulani would make sense for Jabberwock Island then, but if I’m doing an in-school timeline then it wouldn’t be anything but a resort so maybe it doesn’t fit.
I could also try to fit in Towa City, though it wouldn’t make sense in a non-despair AU. Unless that’s where I put a bunch of lots for outings and stick Hope’s Peak Elementary along with the WoH. Then I could maybe play as another character adopting them from their parents! Ooh that would make great storytelling! Maybe Junko could persuade them to run away and then Nagito can find them alone in Towa City and he lets them stay with him? This would be an adult Nagito I suppose, and maybe he moves to Jabberwock with Hajime and some of the sdr2 crew. (Him and Hajime can meet on a field trip gone wrong and they start dating from there.) I imagine Mikan, Gundham, Kazuichi, Nekomaru, Akane, and Mahiru would be there too for starters.
Tumblr media
here’s why they would be there in a non-despair au where a lot of jabberwock and the surrounding islands are known for resorts:
Nagito: his health (fresh air and sunlight to help his body heal)
Hajime: to be with Nagito, take a gap year before university to decide what exactly he wants to do, and find himself
Mikan: a job as a nurse at the resort, helps Nagito with his health, and also an escape so she can heal her mental health too
Gundham: to study the wildlife (He doesn’t stay long and probably moves to see new creatures)
Kazuichi: for that beach life! Actually he works on boats, planes, and any form of transit as a well known mechanic. He’s making connections for work, catching some rays, and getting to see guys and speedos to feed his little gay brain
Nekomaru: to spend time with friends before starting work as a team manager. He and Akane still train on the beach
Akane: she wanted to try someplace new, and maybe if it’s nice and this new gymnastics team that’s located here works out, she can use the money earned to bring her family over here. Wouldn’t growing up on the beach be nice? Plus her friends are here, a bonus!
Mahiru: the islands are beautiful subjects for photos, and seeing people be relaxed and happy would be great for her personal pictures.
Maybe lives there: Teruteru, Imposter
Teruteru could work as a chef at the resort, or live in the Spice District of San Myshuno
Imposter can retire early and be on vacation permanently, spending time with friends and people who care about them for themself. They deserve it <3
People that would visit often are Sonia, H1yoko (if I even make her), Fuyuhiko (owns a villa through the yakuza. Peko can stay with Nazumi to run it while he’s gone. Or Peko comes as bodyguard. He likes to hang with “the boys”)
Peko doesn’t care much for the beach, and Ibuki comes over when she can but has tours pretty often or is busy with music.
I think some of the thh cast would come over too! Since as adults in this universe they could move there or go on vacation there. Aoi would definitely go, Junko would go on vacation or have a villa, and Toko/Syo would take Komaru on vacation there <3
(What if Toko/Syo and Komaru adopt one/some of the woh?)

didn't Brad Bird do cars 3 which if I remember right had this whole "entitled younger generation aspect to it?". Like the dude seems seriously smug about shit like that and him mentioning how they went through the "trouble and effort" to make an an character design for frozone's wife, but didnt use her because she's funnier as a voice is racist as fuck, esp acting like its a big effort to include more black people in a such white ass movie
Cars 3 was Brian Fee, according to Wikipedia— Brad Bird wasn't involved with the franchise at all, but Fee was a storyboard artist on Ratatouille. Though in all honesty, I think a lot of Pixar films have a weird "tone"? Like they all stray towards self-insert narratives that imo don't seem to like try very hard at all to deliver stories FOR children, or there's a certain amount of derision there. Probably not all of them (I haven't watched them all, which is funny bc I've seen almost all the Disney animated films; I find Pixar's storytelling more boring though tbh), but enough to be weird.Brad Bird is undeniably a smug asshole, though, and the whole thing with Frozone's wife remaining offscreen just as a nagging punchline (they didn't even REALLY give her a name— they took Frozone's "Honey, where's my supersuit?" line & said "Her NAME is Honey! :)))" as if that wasn't going to be obvious laziness anyway) is VERY reminiscent of the old Tom & Jerry cartoon episodes where a generic Mammy figure chased Tom around without ever showing her face. Like it is the exact same sort of punchline setup & delivery of an angry Black woman chasing after & scolding the beleaguered main character. And it's also vaguely akin to the Russos' treatment of Sam Wilson in the Captain America films— here's a Black side character for our white main heroes & villain, but he exists in complete goddamn isolation in his personal life. No pictures of family on the wall. No Black friends or romantic partners or kids or relatives. Just one dropped in there like a goddamn Lego. And we're happy to have him! I like Sam Wilson & I like Frozone & I'm happy seeing Black actors get work. But it's weird as shit, especially in fiction, in settings like Washington, DC & ig wherever The Incredibles is set, to write one (1) Black character and drop them into a narrative as if they materialized out of thin air; especially when it's like, all these other (white) characters have coworkers, classmates, peers, neighbors, detailed backstories & established character connections going on… and the Black character(s) don't get that same treatment. The Russos are much better about this than Brad Bird imo, but it's still jarring. Especially to double down on it with this ABW punchline of Frozone's wife, who we've never seen to the point that were this a different kind of franchise, her invisibility as a running joke would lead to, like, Norman Bates comparisons, since we can't tell if she's even really there. It's a hot ass mess & in this, 2018, the year of Black Panther and Beychella, I don't feel like Brad Bird deserves Black millenials' money for this kind of flagrant disrespect.

Back from a long weekend in the forest, without WiFi or cell reception. With sheltering in place + most of my clients pivoting hard to lean into the digital world, these last few months have been insane and I’ve been constantly connected 📲 It felt amazing to just rest, read and fully relax for a few days. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, based on all of your responses after sharing a video of my dog Pip on my IG story, apparently you want me to focus on corgi content instead of cocktails 🤔🐕 Can’t say that I blame you. Swipe for a look at sleepy vacation Pip. 🔊✌🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #highproofpreacher

It’s fri-yay aka time for an 𝐀𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐳! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Instead of dreaming for the day we can get back into some of our favorite restaurants safely (because who knows when that will be)… let’s bring the Friday happy hour cocktails right into our home! After creating recipes for the past 4 months now, there’s a lot to choose from on our website! My personal favorite to celebrate the beginning of the weekend on a hot day is of course the Aperol Spritz. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But on a serious note, I can't believe that 4 months ago COVID lockdown hit in the US and that actually made me really start taking Join Jules seriously. It was the only way to turn a sour situation into a good one I guess. But, I do hope these cocktails have helped cure the oh so missed happy hours and that you look forward to so many more to come… (I'm looking at you 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧)!! Let's just say this, it's only the beginning of Join Jules 𝘞𝘰𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘰! Turn up for Tiki 🍹🥥🍌🍍. It has been blazing hot here on the Mid-Atlantic coast, and all I want to do is crush tropical cocktails. But, honestly, it’s just one of those genres of drinks that always taste better at the bar – usually because I don’t have a pebble ice machine at home (yes, it does matter). . Lately, I’ve been making some Mai Tais with @denizenrum Merchant’s Reserve, @smallhandfoods orgeat, fresh lime, and dry curaçao. That’s as complex as it gets, but it’s well worth it. . 15 Cocktail Influencers You Should Be Following on Instagram
Tumblr media
Since most of us are missing our local bartenders as much as our friends and family during the ongoing pandemic, many of us have taken to our kitchens in an attempt to make our favorite drinks ourselves. But while G&Ts and vodka sodas are great every now and again, where do we turn when we’re craving something a little more complex? Enter: the “drinkstagrammer” — or drinks Instagrammer.
These bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts have made names for themselves by sharing photos of whimsical drinks and helpful tips with their followers. So, at a time when we need inspiration more than ever, VinePair has collected a list of our 15 favorite drinkstagrammers, whom you should follow right now.

⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But on a serious note, I can’t believe that 4 months ago COVID lockdown hit in the US and that actually made me really start taking Join Jules seriously. It was the only way to turn a sour situation into a good one I guess. But, I do hope these cocktails have helped cure the oh so missed happy hours and that you look forward to so many more to come… (I’m looking at you 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧)!! Let’s just say this, it’s only the beginning of Join Jules 𝘞𝘰𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘰!

Back from a long weekend in the forest, without WiFi or cell reception. With sheltering in place + most of my clients pivoting hard to lean into the digital world, these last few months have been insane and I’ve been constantly connected
Tumblr media
It felt amazing to just rest, read and fully relax for a few days. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, based on all of your responses after sharing a video of my dog Pip on my IG story, apparently you want me to focus on corgi content instead of cocktails
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can’t say that I blame you. Swipe for a look at sleepy vacation Pip.

(𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘮 𝘴𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘴… okay okay I'll stop).⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐍𝐨𝐰, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐠𝐨-𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥? 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰!

Turn up for Tiki
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
. That’s as complex as it gets, but it’s well worth it. . Who has some easy tiki cocktails that they have developed at home worth sharing? I’m looking for some new flavors

Instead, rather than being in Leyenda’s backyard mixing up drinks and hanging out with the whole neighborhood, I will just post them on social media. Like this one— featured in my book with link in BIO!—Cereza Picante: With this drink, I wanted to create an exceptionally fruit-forward fall-like sour that highlighted spice and smoke to compliment its fruity notes. The result is what its name advertises: one spicy cherry. 1 oz Jalapeño @siembraspirits Valles blanco tequila 1/2 oz @delmagueymezcal Vida 3/4 oz @cherryheering 3/4 oz lime juice 1/4 oz simple syrup Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. THIRD YEAR SHOW ARTIST STATEMENTS
Christine Alba (@thehappilyeverafter): I started my instagram account nearly six years ago so that I could have a place to document my days with iPhone photos of people, places and things that I love, including playful flatlays of food and objects from nature. I think with patience and careful attention, we can find beauty in simple, ordinary subjects, and I try to capture and share such beautiful simplicity in my photos. I take pride in being able to say that even after all these years, 99.9% the photos I post to instagram are taken and edited on my iPhone.
Kayleigh Ann Archbold (@herheartlaughs) is the owner of Laughing Heart Photography. She was raised in Hewitt, New Jersey but has called Montclair home for the past six years.  She’s a soul-baring wife, artist, photographer, chaser of light, and adventurer. She spends most of her time daydreaming about being a mermaid and traveling this beautiful planet with her husband Jason.
Bobby Bates*
Lauren Bowers*
Alessandra Agabiti Braghelli (@unaromanainamerica): Born in Rome, moved to NJ for love. Mom, lifestyle blogger. Loves Autumn, healthy food, coffee, old fashioned houses. Her happy places are libraries and Wildwood. Wanderlust.
T. J. Brown (@photobyteresa): Mama Bear, Earth child, dedicated steward of the environment, Educator, Biologist in training, Dance Instructor, Writer, SJ native. If you find me under the sun or stars, dancing to a great band, with wild curly hair, and my shoes nowhere to be found, you've caught me in my most lively element.
Theresa Campbell (@tcampbell210) is a hobbyist who loves to travel, take photos, and share them with the Instagram community. She runs several hubs on IG including @just_unitedstates (in its 5th year!) and @just_newjersey.
Rey Caparros*
Meaghan Cross (@ohkichan195): Being able to share my perspective through a lens is fun for me. Others get to share in my experiences and I get to document them to look at them later. More often than not, my friends have come to me to ask if I still have pictures from a particular outing or party; the answer is always yes. I like it for it's documentation purposes and that it's also a form of art I get to experiment with. I've tried painting and drawing, but I've always circled back to photography more often than not. I think it's partially what influenced my job choice; Radiologic Technologist (or X-ray tech for short).
Zevilla Dahliana (@zezefox) is an Outdoor Advocate. She supports positive change within her community by promoting an active lifestyle. She is passionate about the outdoors; you can often find her hiking mountains, kayaking, biking, and snapping photos in between.
Gina Danza (@wildginaa) is an outdoor and food photographer who is always looking for new places. Her mission is the make the outdoors more diverse and healthy.
Craig DeCicco (@macaloin) is a photographer and real estate agent from Jersey City who enjoys shooting landscapes/cityscapes and traveling in his free time. Craig is a published photographer whose work has been exhibited in galleries throughout New York and New Jersey.
Jessica Defabritis (@jessica.def): Photography is such an interpretive art form that is so fun to share. It leaves it up to the viewer to decipher what the story is behind each shot. Whether it be a person experiencing a wonderful new place or a tiny heart shaped leaf in the middle of the woods. You decide why those things matter most as you gaze at them. It's what makes it special, you get to tell a story but only you know the true plot. Making them beautiful to look at is just the fun part.
Keith Drennan (@mrblackthorn) is a photographer from Jersey. He generally focuses on landscape and portrait photography.
Sarah Erbe (@saraherbe3) is a 24 year old from Bay Head, New Jersey. She works in retail as an Assistant Buyer. Her hobbies include photography, traveling, and blogging.
Bart Everts (@bartlehe) is a librarian at the Paul Robeson Library at Rutgers University-Camden and a historian of the Philadelphia region. A native of Collingswood, he now lives in West Philadelphia.
Scott Faytok (@sfaytok78) is a photographer in Central NJ who loves the shore and traveling. His favorite spot is Bay Head. He loves showing off his state.
Jamie Ferrugiaro (@missjamiekaren) is a sort of jack-of-all trades creative who is passionate about the outdoors, traveling, and art. She has lived in Jersey her whole life, and loves the East Coast.
Mike Forgie (@prestonlogan) is a Digital Marketing Specialist. He would love for you to figure out what his username is from.
Olivia Frawley (@livfreddy): I am a mid-20s high school biology and marine biology teacher. I love teaching my students concepts they can both observe and apply when they go out in the real world! In the meantime, I try to capture as much beauty as possible right here in NJ; from the hidden oases in the middle of the woods to fiery sunrises at the beach during fishing season. Maybe we will just let everyone else keep thinking it's "dirty" here - and the beauty can be our little secret.
Jessica Grennen (@Simply_jessg87) was born and raised in New Jersey and has always been the creative type. She likes to think she followed in her dad's love of photography and hasn't stopped since. She’s drawn to nature and architecture mostly, “one being fluid and the other bold, hard lines; my ying and yang I guess you could say.” In the future she would love to start selling her art but for now she is content sharing it with friends and family.
Danielle Grubb*
Michael Guccione (@michaelguccionephoto) spends most of his time photographing at the beach in Monmouth and Ocean counties. He has been a New Jersey resident for 9 years now, and loves showing people how beautiful this state is.
Emily Anne Harber*
Kate Hausman (@Khaus11):I am a Park Naturalist from Ocean County, but I spent the past two years living and working in Stokes State Forest in Sussex County. I've enjoyed documenting the differences between my southern and northern homes, particularly the natural/ecological ones.
Andrea Hayes (@andreas.photos): I believe there is so much beauty to be found in our surroundings, you just have to look for it. That is one of the reasons why I explore New Jersey. The other is that I love photography. Instagram has been a wonderful way to connect both.
Cristal Johnson (@cristalinaj): Mama. Teacher. Sunchaser. Dreamer. The skies, the seas, and the world around me.
Adam K*

He often likes to incorporate nature with a twist of urban style in his photos in light settings. As an artist he strives to create work that will evoke emotions and inspire others.
Matt Marcheski (@mattmarcheski) is a portrait and landscape photographer from the Atlantic City area. Traveling and meeting new people is his thing!
David McGraw Jr. (@ddmcgrawjr): I've worked as a concert and nightclub photographer for the past four years. Having grown up in New Jersey it's been great to come back and take photos, especially during my Jersey Collective week last year (election week in November). I hope to cover emerging music scenes in Newark and Trenton in the future.
Matt Murawinski (@mattmurawinski) is a 20-something nomad-at-heart. Producer for CNN by day and photographer by night (and weekends).
Donovan Myers (@stryfe2103): Storyteller and Wanderer from South Jersey. I've lived in New Jersey since I was 5, but only recently began to discover the hidden wonders of this place. I've spent the last few years wandering the state with camera in hand, discovering parts of this state I never imagined, and trying to tell a bit about these places through my pictures and my stories.
Arati Patel (@aratip05) has a background in Environmental Law and Policy. She has had a passion for the outdoors since she was young. She enjoys discovering small pockets of nature within urban areas and always had an appreciation of how resilient urban ecosystems are. She thinks that Jersey Collective is a wonderful community to help photo enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds have a chance to showcase their talent and the beauty of New Jersey and is thankful for this opportunity.
Natalie Pereira (@rockbeertravel): I have been fascinated with photo documenting my life and the world around me since I got my first LeClic camera in the 80s! I am completely self-taught and just focus on what I see and how I see it. In my professional life, I run a series of artisan markets in Jersey City called Marketplace JC and am lucky enough to be part of a network of artists in artisans in New Jersey.
Corrie Peterson (@upbeatlibrarian): i'm upbeat. i'm a librarian. i'm corrie peterson, just a human animal living alongside the atlantic ocean in new jersey, spending my time growing & stretching, learning & reading, taking walks, swimming laps, writing poems, looking for treasure & making art out of books that nobody else wanted.

David Warner (@davidwarnerphotography) grew up in New Jersey and has called it home all his life.  When he was 12 years old, he had a darkroom in his parents’ basement and was hooked ever since.  Although he does headshots, weddings, and much more, he really loves capturing the history and nature that we have all around us in the Garden State.

That's how 'TEOTWAWKI' kicks off FearTWD's 3x03, in a bit of a complete mindfuck... And since that's exactly how we like our horror, I gotta say that this is exactly what we want from creators Robert Kirkman & Dave Erickson when it comes to this series. S3 started off with a 2-parter, the first of which was a complete mess... It did its job however and quickly moved the pieces and characters of a show that had felt largely displaced since the S2 mid-season finale, when all the characters were quite literally separated and repositioned. Part 2 raised the stakes and showed a new leader emerging to the family forefront. No not Jeremiah Otto (Dayton Callie), tho Jeremiah is quite the enthralling question mark with tension radiating from his being, unmatched to any other current character on the show... The reference belongs to Madison (Kim Dickens) who has grown from meek, frightened wannabe-humanitarian in S1 & S2 to strong, focused, matriarch at the start of S3. Her switch is so refreshing, it reminds me of my favorite aspect of TWD Universe, with the evolution of Carol over the course of 7-Seasons... Without her I'm not sure I'd keep coming back to the show again and again through rough patches of writing and that spacious chapterized-style storytelling that TWD has adopted and clung onto so tightly. FearTWD is no different, it's shown us that it can go up & down and back & forth, but that the viewer should show allegiance, because the reward is greater than the risk... The slow-burn and psychological & sociological heavy emphasis creates compelling television, period. Here we are, and in just 3-episodes it feels like like FTWD has literally leaped across the Grand Canyon. The set-up is REAL. The writers and creators, this episode specifically written by S1 'Revenge' contributor Ryan Scott, have positioned Matriarch vs Patriarch, or at least that's what I'm begging for it to eventually come down to. Nick (Frank Dillane) remains the family wild card, but seems to fall in line under the sudden soft-motherly authoritarian switch Madison has embraced, even attempting to sway Luciana to stay put and stick to the plan that Madison is forming. After all, 'some plan' is better than roaming with 'no plan', Nick should be very well aware of this firsthand. Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) remains her mother's faithful, running off to what her mother thought was a Christian Rock band/teen bible study group. Alicia quickly finds out that Gretchen Trimbol's (Rae Gray) Bible Band is really an angsty get-together that resembles the most normal thing to teen life Alicia has probably seen in years, maybe ever. They smoke bongs and center their group in a basement that oddly resembles the one of 'That 70's Show', placing a zombie head in a birdcage named Jeff in the middle of their teenage pow-wow... Just consider him their post-apocalyptic, living-dead, magic 8-Ball... Only Jeff doesn't tell them their futures, but they do joke and speak for Jeff, which I can see taking a very hard and disturbing left turn. Sure, it's almost relieving and funny in a way for Alicia now, but there's something significantly unsettling about this whole picture. Teenagers can be dangerous, they haven't developed a good sense of empathy yet, which makes them borderline sociopathic... And in this environment, that's a terrifying thought. While the teenagers and Jeremiah Otto gain steam in the 'potential threat' department, Troy (Daniel Sharman) almost seems to be losing his menacing edge... Proving once more that where you start out in the TWD Universe isn't where you necessarily end up. That's not to say that Troy won't have some sort of relapse and engage in a psychotic break, but his almost overkill 'Dudley Do-Right' brother, Jake (Sam Underwood), and the revealing of the boys' now deceased, drunkard mother, Tracy Otto (Emma Caulfield), paints a picture of two boys that withstood damage and went separate ways in terms of psychological consequences. If one is ying and the other is yang, then underneath their surface lies an opposite of their light and dark essences... Meaning, I don't necessarily expect these two to stay in the positions that they currently hold forever. If anything, Jake is far more passionately devoted to his father than Troy. This may actually prove useful to Madison and her clan somewhere down the line. Irony can always be expected and absorbed in the realm of post apocalyptic, psychological horror. Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) is basically on another planet, riding around, searching for someone he shouldn't be... His former associate, Dante (Jason Manuel Olazabal). Strand has been running scheme after scheme since losing his money in Katrina and not all of his financial victims fell for his deep, silky voice and natural charisma like his late partner, Thomas. Dante was basically waiting for the man to show up, clearly excitable and boisterous on his arrival, showing off his ruthless tactics and liquid currency then threatening to throw him over a large dam and then actually throwing him in a cage. Remember folks, if a character doesn't die on screen, then they are most likely still alive. I've heard a lot of talk about Daniel being some kind of mirage, that's clearly not the case. I would have preferred to see some sort of fire damage to Daniel's face or body, though we may see signs of that later, but I guess showing that would immediately ruin the excitement and mystery of Daniel's sudden reappearance. FTWD continues to move into the right direction, now slowly positioning characters into their natural positions instead of tossing them where they need to go as quickly as possible as shown in the S3 opener. There's a lot of talk about ratings, which I have included at the top of the review. While it's true that FTWD has slowly tapered off from a massive start in S1, it's still doing quite well for a show on cable. It remains AMC's 2nd highest rated series on the network. Just because a show doesn't get TWD like numbers, doesn't mean that it isn't successful. It looks to me like FTWD has found its cushion, so to speak, and will most likely waver slightly above & below this current number, barring premieres and finales. Even dropping a few more points in the coveted 18-49 demo will not hurt this series one bit. FearTWD carries on...

What Photos Should You Be Posting On Instagram?
Struggling to determine which photos will perform the best on your Instagram account? To give us insight on some of the best Instagram tips for photographers, we asked four different artists for helpful advice due to their success on the app:
Bella Kotak – Fine Art Photographer
Jason Vinson – Wedding Photographer
Vanessa Joy – Wedding Photographer
James Day – Wedding Photographer
Below you’ll find the answer to what content does best on Instagram. We’ve provided an action step for each question to help you implement these posting procedures. If you missed Part 1 of this article, you can read it here.
What Type of images Will Draw In People’s Attention?
  View this post on Instagram
A post shared by James Day (@jamesdayweddings) on Jan 14, 2019 at 3:28am PST
A lot of what you see on Instagram from professional photographers is trial and error. Some have been in the game long enough to truly understand their audience while others are just throwing up images hoping something will stick. To set yourself apart, tie in a concept or story with each post:
“Start writing notes in your phone. Start with a story, then look for images that back up your stories. Look for images that will get people’s attention – images that won’t be a slow read and that are more likely to grab people’s attention quickly.”  – James Day
Action Step: Find a series of images that tell a story, ideally three so that you can post them in a row. Write out captions that supplement the storytelling of the photo or asks a thought-provoking question. You’ll find that more people will engage with your content and it will increase the likelihood of them commenting.

Can I Post A Mixture Of Personal & Professional?

This is a common question we get asked in our community. There is no right or wrong answer; however, if you run your personal account as your business account, you are bound to aggravate one audience group – either your friends/family or your consumer base. Always keep in mind that if you post something personal, it should still be related to your overall brand persona.
“I try to select photos that stay within my style. I always want to represent my brand clearly and realistically. Remember to always post with intent! Don’t just post pictures because they’re pretty. I outline five major post types here.” – Vanessa Joy
Action Step: For every 10-15 business-related posts, sprinkle in one personal post. Make sure that it still has something to do with your brand and that it falls in line with the personality you’ve created. See Vanessa’s example above where she discusses how meaningful it was to teach at a photography conference for Canon USA.

How Do I Stand Out?
Authenticity and consistency are the two most important things to remember when curating content. If your style is light and airy and all of a sudden you post a dark and moody portrait, you are confusing your followers, as well as your brand image.
“It pays to be different as long as you are consistent with those differences. People want to know what they can expect if they follow you.” – Jason Vinson
Action Step: Figure out what your specialty is and start posting images that fall into that category or style.
Should I Post Multiple From The Same Shoot?

A post shared by Jason Vinson (@vinsonimages_jason) on Oct 31, 2018 at 6:18am PDT
On Instagram, there is such a thing as too much. Use IG Insights to determine when your followers are engaging with your content. After selecting the best days and times, curate your content accordingly so as not to overflow your feed. You don’t want to give away all of your high-performing content too soon.
“I pretty much treat my profile as an evolving portfolio. If I wouldn’t put the image on my website then I won’t post it on my account. I know that my followers like and engage with “epic portraits” more than real moments, so I make sure and spread out the real moments between a few portraits.” – Jason Vinson
Action Step: After you’ve finished editing a shoot, select a group of images that you think will do well on Instagram. Experiment by posting them at your most popular times and compare and contrast to analyze why some did better than others. Perhaps one image performed poorly compared to the others, or maybe one was a completely different style and struck a chord with your audience.
How Do I Get More Visibility On My Posts?

A great way to bring more attention to your new posts is to utilize Instagram Stories. This is also a great tool to share your brand persona and the person behind the lens.
“I’d recommend utilizing Insta stories to share more behind the scenes as that is a great way to share more about the production as well as connect the audience to you as a person.” – Bella Kotak
Action Step: For every post, think of a unique and creative way to draw your followers to see it. You can use features like the question box or the poll to engage them.
Quick Recap – Instagram Tips for Photographers:
Post images that tell a story and use the caption to supplement your message.
Post a mixture of personal and professional images but make sure you have a majority of business-related content that is on-brand.
Figure out what your specialty is and start posting images that fall into that category or style.
Experiment with posting multiple images from one shoot, but make sure to spread them out on your feed.
Utilize IG Stories to help bring eyes to your new posts.

Your review is killing me xD I knew you would love Devour just as much as I did. It was a better comedy then the hangover. Jensen's acting is worth more then 20 Eddie Murphy's. May Chuck bless you for finally watching it. Best line delivery (during the party scene) "Why don't you report him? he does this all the time." ahahahahah! just freaking watch it over & over again till your dizzy. And I liked Alan he has talent.
Alan was an unexpected nice touch that brought some levity to a nonsensical plot.  I just hope Dad didn’t watch the scene of his son and Dominique Swain performing epileptic fits on a chair. The sex scene is the same as the scare scenes, instead of being turn on or being scared off, I laugh at the awkwardness of the execution.  Devour basically dicked around for the bulk of its running time, repeating itself over and over again while not truly moving forward with its story.  “Focus” in your friend!  When watching Jensen I kept thinking, “stop bobbing your head”, “why are you looking up all the time were you told it makes your look shy and young because you’re supposed to be a teenager?” and  “you need more intensity, son, even your name is Gray”.  Gee gawd I’m turning into George Lucas who only gave two directions to his actors in Star Wars, “faster” and “more intense”.   Mark, Carrie, and Harrison were throwing their arms in the air going “how in the hell can we act faster and more intense what does that even mean?”
Tropes are storytelling convention, they’re tools used by creators to express their ideas to the audience.  It is impossible to have a tropeless tale because tropes exist because they work in the storytelling.  Devour had so so so many tropes and still come out confusing, nonsensical, and worst, a boring non-scary horror movie.
Abusive Parents: Mama Satan kills her son’s friends, family and forces him to drink the blood of his adoptive parents.
Anti-Anti Christ: Jake doesn’t wanna join the family Satan business.
Asshole Victim: Dakota kills a married professor who repeatedly sexually harassed her.
Big Bad: Satan who’s behind the game that kill its players.
The big “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”: Jake seeing his adoptive parents hanged together.
Developing Doomed Characters: First half of the movies establishes Jake’s relationships with his friends, family and his boss.
Even Evil Has Standards: Even though he’s the leader of a Satantic cult, Ivan won’t make a human sacrifice.
Faux Affably Evil: mama Satan apologies to Jake for killing his loved ones while insisting he should join her.  Then when Jake refuses, mama Satan grabs the chalice and forcefeeds Jake with the blood of his adoptive parents.
Frame-Up: mama Satan punishes Jake for his refusal to join her by framing him for the murders of his parents.
Friends with Benefits : Jake and Dakota have sex but are not dating.
Speed Sex: Dakota gets on Jake’s lap for few seconds of epileptic thrashing
Mean Boss: Jake’s boss fires him because his nephew needs a job.
A Pupil of Mine Until He Turned to Evil: Ivan taught Adan the dark arts until Kater sacrificed Ivan’s wife to Satan.
Through the Eyes of Madness : In the end, Jake wonders if he really did do the murders and if everything he saw was just in his head.
Villainous Incest: mama Satan takes the form of Marisol to seduce her son, and after revealing the truth she still wants to carry on with him.
You Monster! : Jake is called a monster by the police who thinks he killed his parents and drank their blood.

Michael Imperioli and CRO-MAGS Frontman Harley Flanagan Film “Between Wars” pivots to Vimeo release amidst Global Pandemic.
BETWEEN WARS – Shot in nine days with one camera – A team that worked 15-hour days and nights during a heatwave in Philadelphia and the Bronx- No permits- No insurance- Barely any money to get food for cast and crew. Raw, independent film-making to the core.
“Working with Tom is exactly what independent film-making should be. Hit the ground running, roaming the streets, stealing shots, running, and gunning. It’s as far away from Hollywood as you can get and that’s the way we like it. All passion, inspiration, and fearlessness. Tom is as indomitable and tenacious as they come and that’s what it takes to make a truly independent movie… without a studio, on a shoestring budget, and defying the odds. This one is all heart and a fuck-of-a lot of soul.” –Michael Imperioli (GOODFELLAS; The Sopranos, LINCOLN RHYME: HUNT FOR THE BONE COLLECTOR)
At the height of The Sopranos’ fame, Michael Imperioli read Tom Phillips’ original script, BETWEEN WARS, during a screenwriting workshop at his STUDIO DANTE in NYC. He immediately agreed to come on board.
The screenplay, although optioned by Hollywood, sat on a shelf for nearly 2 years. At the same time, BETWEEN WARS co-writer and friend, Joe Panebianco, was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig’s disease), which he continues to fight to this day. This heartbreaking situation fueled Phillips’ resolve to take the project into his own hands and shoot the film himself.
Inspired by Ed Burns, Guy Ritchie, early Scorsese, Abel Ferrara and Tarantino, true independent filmmaking had always been Phillips’ original vision for BETWEEN WARS, and Panebianco’s illness was the wake-up call he needed to make it happen. Production began in 2019.
Artists, raw actors, veteran actors, musicians, rappers, IG personalities, ex-cons, and the NYC and Philadelphia arts communities all banded together to shoot BETWEEN WARS in extreme conditions with no time and no budget.
“As an artist, I knew breaking rules was imperative for this story,” recounts Phillips. “In fact, the more rules the artists involved wanted to break – the more dynamic the story became. Anyone who came to work on this project learned very quickly that this was a different flow and the players were creating something different. Allowing the actors on set to explore their ideas and use it in a way that would vibrate through the screen into the soul of the audience was the intention.”
The film takes a unique approach in camera technique, led by Emmy-Award winner Director of Photography Alastair Christopher, giving the audience the feeling that they are walking in the characters’ shoes…blurring the line between real life and the fictional lives on-screen. “I want the audience inside the story with our characters: living it, breathing it, feeling it on a level that moves them to rethink their own conditions in life,” says Phillips, who fell in love with the videography in ESPN’s 30 FOR 30 Felipe Lopez Story, found out who shot it and reached out to “Gee Lock” who immediately jumped on board.
Since the beginning, Michael Imperioli stayed loyal to his commitment to the script and plays “Sarge,” Marine-turned PTSD psychologist. Lead, ShaunPaul Costello (“Franny Malloy”) fell in love with the story. He had a Red Weapon camera and tenacity to do it completely independently. “We cast as close to the characters as we could. We wanted real dialogue… people playing themselves or characters they knew well, so they were able to improv and own their roles completely,” says Phillips.
Next on board, Punk Rock/Hard Core music legend Harley Flanagan. Having worked with him and wife Laura Flanagan on other projects, Phillips knew he was “McManus.” “He owned it right from the start,” says Phillips. Harley also came on as music supervisor, with his band Cro-Mags contributing three tracks off their forthcoming 2020 album to be released by Mission Two Entertainment and Arising Empire.
Sean Michael Nugent (“Eddie”) was a friend of a friend. Turns out Phillips’ and Nugent’s fathers both owned neighborhood bars in the Bronx and Yonkers. Sean played Whitey Bulger in the King Pin Series on the History Channel, “so we knew he was Eddie,” says Phillips. “He was once that guy and knew exactly who the character was.”
Dom Chianese Jr. and Phillips met through Instagram and instantly hit it off. The role of “Carlo” was a perfect fit and he had worked with Imperioli on The Sopranos. What could be better?
“Crazy Jimmy”- James Huddleston- was on board from the beginning. Phillips wrote the role specifically for him.
BETWEEN WARS puts an emphasis on very real human conditions, isolated individuals under agonizing circumstances and themes that dive into the fire of powerful societal issues. “You will feel the pain, the torment, the love, insanity, and loneliness in all of our characters. We want the audience to really question that what they are experiencing; is it truly a movie or real life? Crossing the boundaries of reality and fiction is without a doubt a deliberate intention.”
2020 Global Pandemic:
INDEPENDENT THINKERS THRIVE ON THE UNKNOWN “Since it’s NEVER been “business as usual” for BETWEEN WARS, why would we wait around to have our future dictated now! So, in the spirit of true INDEPENDENCE, we are bringing BETWEEN WARS to the people, when the people need great storytelling the most… NOW!”
