I got a question but I need an objective answer please. So I saw a lot of people complain about Yui being written in a very bad way in Ayato’s routes starting with More Blood and was curious if you think that she became a bad girlfriend as the story progressed?

More Blood:

Even from the first two chapters we are aware of the fact that Yui got a big crush on Ayato merely because of his looks and pleasure he gave her. At first sight, these reasons seem very superficial, but at the same time you can’t blame her completely for that. Yui went to a normal school and used to read magazines for teens, therefore it’s obvious she would have hormones and fall in love with someone who got features portrayed as the beauty standard.

It's understandable why some found her annoying, as she repeatedly cried for Ayato's love without making any real effort to earn it. Apart from giving him her blood, she didn't try to understand what he was going through, even when she noticed changes in him that made him crave so much blood.

Nevertheless, I believe that she did redeem herself in the last chapters, where she admitted being selfish and only thinking about her own desires, instead of focusing on Ayato’s struggles too. I know she paralyzed him out of jealousy and cheated on him in the bad endings, but in the good one, she’s actually a really loyal person. Yui waited years for Ayato to wake up from the coma and Ayato searched for Yui for years in his dream until he finally woke up. This ending confirmed the genuineness of their love.

In the After Story, Ayato planned to attend university for Yui's sake, aiming to get a job and buy a house. Yui helped Ayato with his studies and praised his skills. Initially, she fell for his looks, but in the After Story, she mentioned falling in love with him again because of his caring, determined, and hardworking personality.

Vandead Carnival & Lunatic Parade:

I really liked Yui in both of Ayato's routes and honestly, I can't find anything to criticize about her behavior.

It's not that Yui was a bad partner; it's just that Ayato was portrayed as too good, such as when he ran through flames for her or protected her from a bomb explosion. But that's likely because these are fan service games, where the love interests are designed to be your knights in shining armor. xD

Dark Fate:

I absolutely loved Yui’s portrayal in that route. It was the sweetest version of Yui I’ve ever seen, and I really enjoyed seeing her so happy and soft. Regarding her relationship with Ayato, he was truly the apple of her eye, lol.

The only problematic thing she did was pushing Ayato to face his abuser, Cordelia, even though he didn’t want to. I honestly don’t care if a character does something to another character, as long as it doesn’t affect them and the story, so since Ayato didn’t get mad at her for that, I didn’t mind it much either. However, from an objective point of view, I agree that doing such a thing is quite bad. Being in the presence of someone who ruined your life can trigger intense memories and forcing a confrontation removes the victim's agency in deciding how to cope with their trauma. Ayato might not have been mad at Yui for planning that, but if it had been Laito, I’m sure he would have shown why Yui was in the wrong.

Other than that, she was a kind and supportive girlfriend throughout the whole route, clearly having no ill intent, and I appreciate that she had an actual important role in the route.

Lost Eden:

Ok, I really can’t defend her anymore there. She literally had no redeeming qualities, no matter how many times she got the chance to fix herself. I discussed my thoughts about LE Yui in this post, but I’ll sum it up.

She tried to convince Ayato that despite Cordelia abusing him, she actually did it because she “cared about his future”, and then acted surprised when Ayato started feeling uncomfortable because of her words.

Yui knew the reasons behind Ayato’s behavior, yet when his brothers started mocking him, she didn’t even try to defend him. Everyone ganged up on Ayato, and he was on the verge of a panic attack, yet she remained silent.

Another terrible scene was in one of the last chapters, when Ruki admitted to turning the Vibora Clan and Church organization against Ayato out of envy, aiming to kill him. Instead of criticizing Ruki’s actions, Yui justified them and spoke ill of Ayato behind his back. I wouldn’t like to date someone who claims to love me but keeps hurting me without learning anything… It felt as if Ayato only continued being together with her because he had no one else. No wonder he didn’t marry her there.

Chaos Lineage:

I found Yui quite boring in CL in general, but she started off as determined and sweet in his route, so I liked that.

For most of the route, Yui’s entire personality seemed to revolve around Ayato, and she didn’t do much. There were many cheesy moments between them that made me cringe. Still, I’m sure a certain audience enjoyed those.

My only complaint is that when his brothers started treating Ayato unfairly, despite the fact that he came up with the idea of breaking the glass floor of the church, Yui did nothing to defend him, again.

However, I do appreciate that she gave him that adorable monologue. I just wish she had done it in front of others instead of only acting when Ayato was already insecure and sad.

Now… let’s see what kind of girlfriend Yui was in each route by judging her progress:

TL;DR: HNL was studying how to give human subjects electromagnetic, most specifically visible light based, powers in order to bend space-time for their needs.

I’m going to try and condense this as much as I can because considering electromagnetism as a major force in ST (pun intended) opens up so many potential areas of analysis that can only be a brief cover of without turning into multiple essays.

Let’s go over the electromagnetic spectrum:

I hope you might already be recognizing some symbols we see often in Stranger Things, especially if you’ve been following the BTS and some location and set leaks from Season 5.

The electromagnetic spectrum encompasses the different frequencies of electromagnetic radiation - waves of energy that travel at the speed of light (and produce visible light to us at certain frequencies). You’ve probably heard of most of these, including cancer-causing gamma rays and x-rays, the visible light spectrum (the rainbow), microwaves, and radio waves.

In S5, we have the radio station as a main location for the characters. They’re also driving around in the radio station’s van, which has an image of a hawk emitting a rainbow (visible light radiation). Steve’s car also has a massive antenna on top of it. My first thoughts were that the team was trying to keep in contact with Max in hopes of her being able to hear them in her coma, considering she has a radio near her bedside. While that still may be a reason, I think the characters may have come to realize how important electromagnetic fields could be in their fight against Vecna (this where leader of the AV Club also focused on electromagnetic objects Scott Clarke may make his triumphant return).

Now to pivot onto why electromagnetism is so important to the lore of ST:

What the scientists in Hawkins Lab are likely studying is a way for human brains to produce or manipulate certain types of electromagnetic waves through telepathy. Most obviously this is seen by them having the kids try to manipulate and turn on a circle of light bulbs. Our brains actually already produce electromagnetic waves, but at a very slow frequency. The scientists are constantly measuring brain waves while conducting these experiments. We even get full shots of El’s brain waves during NINA, for example. We also see similar shots in S2 while Will is in the HNL.

You can also observe that the Hawkins National Laboratory has absolutely massive satellite dishes on it’s rooftop; ones that do not exist on the real life building but are added in post because they pose some sort of significance. Nudge, it’s because they are transmitting and receiving massive amounts of electromagnetic waves.

Why are they studying electromagnetic waves then?

They are studying electromagnetic waves because they are a method in which time travel can theoretically be achieved - the focus of the Montauk Project in which Stranger Things is based on. The military likely is investigating time travel as another war tactic against Russia.

Let us take a look at the first chapter of the Montauk Project: Experiments in Time book (they are seriously plagiarizing the living hell out of this thing):

Also, did you catch the whole 'attaching a massive antenna on the hood of my car to pick up a secret signal' thing? That's suspiciously similar to the state of Steve's car! Anyway...

The story of Stranger Things starts chronologically, as does Montauk, with the disappearance of the USS Eldridge and Project Rainbow (named after the bending of the visible light spectrum). Brenner’s father was revealed to have captained the boat in TFS, which disappeared for 12 hours into Dimension X and when it came back, the crew was killed or driven mad (except for Brenner Sr). This inspires Brenner to continue onto the Nevada project, and eventually, Hawkins National Lab’s studies. The USS Eldridge / Philadelphia Project conspiracy from real life went as follows:

They were studying electromagnetism, specifically the bending of light, to make objects invisible. This was only the first step in the experiments. Once Henry got involved and came back from his trip to Dimension X with powers, Brenner must have realized he could potentially use human subjects to manipulate electromagnetic fields themselves. Human subjects didn’t require machinery or set up and could bend space-time wherever they pleased, as long as they were able to learn the ability.

The more conspiratiorial side of Theoretical Physics proposes using circulating light beams to warp time-space, creating a wormhole in which one can literally walk through time. This is pop-science, likely not true but interesting for fiction purposes. This method of time travel being used is heavily implied due to the fact that the USS Eldridge was already able to disappear into another dimension by the bending of light.

This is how it worked in the Montauk Project book (absolutely ridiculous how much they took from this honestly):

My guess is that in the Stranger Things universe, they have not yet managed to time travel, only to create portals into this alien Dimension X. Previously, said portals were only made twice by highly advanced technological equipment. El demonstrated that she was able to open a portal all by herself - another step to achieving time travel with singular human subjects. Season five is when we will see the beginning of the time travel plot line, though it like in Montauk is likely already in a loop.

That’s where we get the name for the Rainbow Room, named after this Project Rainbow. The rainbow represents the full spectrum of visible light, and the goals of the project to bend said light into portals and eventually time travel wormholes.

Implications?:

-Well, first of all it seems very obvious by this point that we are going for a time travel plot line, and this is how it will be achieved.

-Will is heavily connected to light in general, the sun, and of course… the rainbow. He is also implied be the one involved in the time travel plot line. This will be very relevant going forward and deserves it’s own post. Potential funniness of defeating Vecna with the power of the rainbow afoot.

-Coma patients are known to have odd, barely detectable brain waves. The kids will be able to communicate with Max in her coma using the electromagnetic spectrum somehow, probably through the radio waves.

-On the farthest end of the spectrum, we have ionizing gamma ray radiation, which is known to cause cancer in humans. Expect Hopper’s daughter Sara to connect to this plot line (and perhaps Sam Owens’ dead son). There is a whole theory on this site already called radiationgate. I have not managed to look into it yet but I think they are probably onto something there. The original al pitch mentions the UD leakage into the real world causing cancer as well.

TDB Episode 7 Thoughts

So this episode sort of felt like a filler chapter between "Meeting the Ghouls" and "the Laurel Crown" arcs of the story. I didn't mind since I really like Yuri and Jiro's dynamic, but the pacing of the story was very quick and not a whole lot happened, after an Episode as loaded with action as Obscuary's it can feel a bit like a let down.

Now as for specific thoughts:

I want to start by saying I appreciate how Yuri doesn't believe in the prophecy because it isn't scientific but 100% thinks he is the chosen one, the champion anyway. Yes, have that self confidence that is nothing but a paper shell built on lies to cover your insecurities king! We love a pathetic meow meow in this house!

His connection to Frostheim... I have had this crack theory in my head that he is related to Jin somehow, like maybe he's his brother or something, but I do think how he talks about Frostheim makes me think he is either a transfer to Mortranken or used to be closer to Jin than he is now. We all are pretty sold on Haku being the one who sold Jin out, but there is a chance it could have been Yuri too I suppose.

We were right! Zenji and Jiro are brothers! And we have Zenji's real name, Taro Kirisaki! He doesn't seem to hate it or anything he is just really proud of his role as a man of the quill so he uses a pen name.

Zenji really loves his brother huh. "If anything were to happen to him I might not survive it this time round" I'd be willing to bet that whatever happened to the Krisaki brothers was connected, it's just that Zenji got dumped at Darkwick General while Jiro was taken in by Yuri. Zenji's voicelines about a brother "in his rebellious phase" and his struggle to express his love for his older brother makes me think they might have been at odds before the clash... maybe Jiro hated how laid back Zenji was when he literally made a deal with a demon? Of course he did too... but maybe Zenji's was related to trying to make Jiro healthy? He seems to have some sort of auto-immune disease and while that could be a side-effect of the coma but it could also be something Jiro's always struggled with and explain why Zenji is so protective of him. I bet they were killed by the same anomaly...

Sorry I have a lot of feelings about the Kirisaki brothers... what happened to them? Why does no one care that they're dead and dying other than Yuri? I don't think Zenji cares that much that Jiro doesn't remember him so long as he's alive... but would it bother Jiro if he could remember? Does he ever find himself making tea and turn to scold someone for talking too much, he's being annoying again but there isn't anyone there and he doesn't know who he's scolding because it wasn't Yuri... does he know how to make tea because Zenji insisted on teaching him? Is Zenji the one who he would tease about being afraid of dead bodies before MC?

Right on not simp notes: we have more information about the murder, the victim was from Ultio! And the murder predated the Clash so it's pretty safe to say the inability of the school to find the murderer is probably what kicked things off.

We also have hints of a mermaid student, so be patient fish fuckers we- I mean you will be getting fed soon. This student seems to be known to Yuri and Haru, and Haru's reaction suggests he might think of him as a friend? He's not beating the Steve Irwin allegations is he, I'm surprised Ed isn't obsessed with him at this point. Then again I think Ed would resent me implying he's an animal, but we've seen the inside of his room so I rest my case.

Nicholas appears to be in hot water with the Institute, and he is not trusted by Yuri. Cornelius references something he calls "the Dionysia breakout" as being Nicholas's fault to contain... given that those students are missing and Nicholas has only recently found them... I want more information before I say anything but Yuri's explanation of how he sees anomalous anything illnesses I think it makes sense to say an anomaly outbreak occurred in the Dionysia dorm that was not contained by its ghouls, something the school blames Nicholas for.

The school knew the MC was going to turn into an anomaly and did not tell her "for her mental health." I like MC's mixed feelings on this. On the one hand I don't think she would have handled it well if we had learned it immediately. On the other, I am a firm believer that information is not something that should be gate kept, and hey. It's the MC's life she deserves to know what happened to her. I think I land on not trusting Darkwick but I do trust Yuri, I want to know why he's so determined to cure MC but I don't doubt his sincerity in the slightest. If I had to say who is most determined to see MC cured, I'd say its Yuri and Haru. And Zenji but he's out of commission at the moment. Yuri has an ego the size of his forehead, but he does seem very passionate about curing anomalous diseases and takes failures a bit more personally than he'll ever admit to. Haru is just a stand up guy who seems like he wants the best for those he loves, and he really does seem to love MC! He says he'd trust her with his life! That's my dorm captain he's literally the best <3

The tree is curious, one of the fruits looked a bit better, but then it shrunk after the announcement of the Laurel Crown and the Gala coming back... which I guess makes sense? The ghouls are fighting again, technically, and if their hate for each other is what makes the tree sick then I don't think it is going to get better. Speaking of the tree... poor MC.

Yuri's description of an anomaly that could destroy the world does match up with how Ed describes the Kyklos. Dani and I talked about this already, but that name (in addition to being super similar sounding to cyclops explaining why she has one eye) is ancient greek for cycle. It is typically used to refer to a theory about human history that depicts it as being a cycle between Dark and Golden ages, how this monster came to be is something I'd be super interested to learn about... I have some theories but they're 100% pure Colombian crack with no evidence.

That being said, Ed knows what it is but Darkwick's staff does not... Ed revealing the MC is going to turn into a monster to the whole student body makes a lot of sense for him to do actually. He sees it as him helping the MC because he wants the ghouls to compete to cure her, and knowing how he thinks of humans he probably assumed they wouldn't do so unless there was an incentive so that's why he made that the goal the dorms would have to meet to win the Laurel Crown.

Speaking of which... Sho. Shohei. Hyde has him doing a special mission, wonder what that is huh? Whatever it is, that's suspicious. That's weird. I've got both my eyes on you Mr. Playboy, Lyca wouldn't do this to me maybe he should get to keep the babygirl title.

... also I really love the "if it were not for the laws of this land I would have killed you" vibes Rui, Tohma, and Haku had during their little conversation. I was dying, "oh hiiiii Rui :D so nice to see you NOT IN THE SHADOWS STALKING ME. DID YOU KNOW HE CAN DO THAT MC? GO INTO SHADOWS AND STALK YOU? NO???" Haku just being like "teehee maybe MC and I are a thing Tohma" and Tohma leaving that on read because who cares? As for her story/Timeline, I decided to throw a few things from Canon and Fanon together.

Her first memory was of her going to the circus when she was 4. Her parents had just come home from a business trip and wanted to spend some quality time with her. There she met Fanny (Female Dick) and saw the incident that killed Fanny's Parents.

She spent a few years in therapy after that.

Her hyper fixation with Batman and Robin when she was 6 after one of her live-in Nanny told her about them saving her from a robbery.

She just wanted to thank them.

At 9 years old she realized that Batman and Robin were her neighbors Bruce Wayne and Franziska Grayson.

This realization also started her career as a Baby stalker.

(The only reason why she was able to sneak out every night was because she played the role of the good and gentle rule-following Daughter to her Caretakers.)

She was 13 when she blackmailed Bruce into taking her as Robin after Jennifer (female Jason) died and Fanny wouldn't come back to Gotham.

Their relationship was rocky and cold in the beginning till Live decided to fuck her over.

At age 14 she had been captured and tortured by the Joker for a few weeks, resulting in her becoming Joker jr for months.

She only snapped out of it after her mother died and her dad went into a coma.

Despite popular belief and the fact that they spent most of their time aboard, she was close to them.

Daily phone calls and the writing of letters were their way of communication.

The Titans Tower incident happened when she was 15. (Her time as Titan started with her time as Robin)

At age 16 Lilith (female Damian) appeared and Bruce died. She became Red Robin and went on a wild goose chase to bring him back.

She laid down the mantle of the red robin and became crow after accepting Lilith as her family member/as robin.

Now to her relationship with the batfam:

Alfred: doting grandad vs granddaughter who has no sense of time and keeps on forgetting to visit.

Bruce: she still sees him as her boss, whilst he is the most parental girl dad to her.

Fanny: still looks up to her despite the feeling of hurt she still feels about her actions. Fanny just loves her little sister a lot but doesn't know how to apologize.

Barbara; she was her first celebrity crush and still adores her. Barbara enjoys spending time with her and they bonded over the whole "Joker ruined my life" thing.

Jennifer: they are surprisingly good. Dorothy used to look up at her and saw her as "her Robin". Jennifer apologized and all but begged for forgiveness after she broke out of the Pit madness.

Stephanie: Exes turned best friends. Their dating was just a try to name the close relationship that they had.

Cass: they are platonic soulmates. Twins from different parents.

Dara (female Duke): She sees her as the little sister that she always wanted. Dara wants to study her /jk. They often talk about comics and video games.

Lilith: She pittys her after having to deal with the league herself and tries to help her. Lilith hates that but has some respect for her after she brought her father home.

Shadow episodes 8–14

Well, that went to some unexpected places! I’m not sure it entirely held together in the end, there were definitely some dropped threads and weak spots in the cast, and the back end wasn’t as tightly paced as the first half. I still enjoyed watching this show overall but the back half didn’t live up to the hype they built with this release schedule, unfortunately. And not gonna lie…I kinda hated that ending.

Some initial reactions:

As I mentioned back when I finished part 1, this show is emphatically not a bl. There is no romance and the protagonist is not, in fact, gay. I do think this show marketed itself to bl fans and did a little dishonest baiting on that front and I will side eye it for that. It does have several explicitly queer characters and themes, however, which is probably why it’s on Gaga.

They disappeared Danai from his own fucking narrative! I was already bummed by him disappearing into a shadow coma for most of the last two episodes; it already felt like he vanished from the resolution of his own story. And then that final reveal that he never actually came back and Trin has somehow managed to possess his body. So the end for Danai, the character we’ve been following this whole time, concluded with him passing out on stage during his attempt to expose Anurak during the play and then getting squashed by Trin in the shadow realm? Thanks, I hate it! 

The reveal of the shadow as the forest spirit (not to mention that goofy ass costume) was also kind of a letdown; I have no idea what this forest ghost has to do with the backstory they showed us for Danai and his family, and I ended the show still unsure of why this spirit glommed onto Dan in the first place. The complete dropping of the family trauma theme is especially egregious to me; I was so interested in everything they set up for Danai in part 1 but they left most of it on the table. Strange writing choices.

The final reveal of Brother Anurak’s whole deal lacked juice (and as the story continued it became clear the actor playing him was not strong enough for the role). Nice guy tries to do what’s right and fails and cries about it for twenty years is just kind of boring as the ultimate reveal of a spooky mystery story. And I didn’t really expect the haunting to be about state-sanctioned murder in the end. While I appreciate that the show is referencing real history and making a (somewhat garbled?) political statement here, this direction for the story felt like an awkward fit with the beginning, which was more about family trauma and homophobia. 

I thought Trin’s story was the best executed part of the show. Fiat was great in this role and his plot and characterization stayed consistent throughout. 

Poor Nai. The way Dan gave him that total stone face and zero reaction to his attempted kiss was almost worse than an outright rejection. And then the show added insult to injury by having Dan say he liked Cha-aim after all. You expect me to believe that shadow fucker is a straight dude who wanted to date the insipid girl? Okay show!

Anan was a pretty decent antagonist for most of the show (I hated that dude and his evil ass teacher girlfriend) but I thought him getting another girl pregnant and then murdering her together with the teacher kind of came out of nowhere? And ultimately his story didn’t connect to the larger reveal, he just exited stage left before the big dramatic climax. 

After part 1 aired @wen-kexing-apologist tried to tell me my boy Josh was evil, and I was not having it. *Captain Holt voice* Vindication!!! Josh is just a garden variety dumbass teenage boy.  I always believed in you, boo!

All the teachers were, in fact, sus. Not a single decent educator among them.

that's what i've been saying! i personally love the sperm donor storyline because it happens after he learns he was made for spare parts and he CHOOSES to donate some spare parts to his friend so they can start their own family - it's about the CHOICE - even though we see him struggling with it. s6 was such an interesting season for buck's development because we see him struggling with not being chosen for interim captain, asking bobby "you don't think i'm at ease?" and asking hen "what do you think it is, the secret to happiness?" and then reminiscing about his adventures, choosing to be a sperm donor for connor and kameron, the coma dream full of lessons and affirmations, and trying to deal with the aftermath of his temporary death. hands down fave buck season. they messed it up by trying to get him with natalia (because the show was not being renewed and we can't have people end up single? the horror!) and bringing back kameron to crash at his flat as if she doesn't have anyone else to go to...? fucking bizarre choices. 6b suffered from the impending doom lmao.

anyway! sometimes canon only gives us half a story and we have to dig a little deeper and use the source material to do our meta analyses and try to understand what it says about our favourite character. and i'm really hoping to see buck being confident and settled in s8, even if he's dealing with the fuckery at his workplace, i want to see that he's in a good place in his relationship with tommy, that they're good together, they're still communicating and being open and there's no bullshit like jealousy and exes and cheating and all that cheap drama crap lmao. i want to see buck who makes choices for himself as his own person and what that means for his relationship with tommy.

and while i'm here, because i've talked about wanting madney to have another baby, and i see people say "but it was so bad the first time with the postpartum syndrome etc etc" and once again i want to see maddie CHOOSE to get pregnant again - it's about the CHOICE - i want to see her say yes i want to do this, i've been through it before, and i learned a lot, i healed a lot, and i can do this with the support of my husband and a therapist and a local group for expecting or new mothers.. because the first time around: it was a surprise pregnancy, and she had thyroid problems that no doctor had apparently thought to check? or her having her nursing background? (that SL has some issues for me personally because i know it was done due to actress unavailability lol, i would have done a better job with it no offence) and because this is a fictional show, we can write characters who go through a second pregnancy as a healing experience - something that is hard to do IRL cause life is unpredictable, you know? i wouldn't advocate this for a real life woman is what i'm trying to say but maddie is ficitonal and i can make her have positive experiences. anyway!

Summary: Chantea Withlock was born in a family of writers and readers. The only reason why she stands out is because of her stories. Have you ever heard a story wherein the villain wins and gets the girl? No? Well, welcome to Chantea's World.

2. Chapter

Chapter 1

Chantea Withlock. A bright 22-year-old woman who loves to read and write. When she lost her mother due to an unknown illness, her father would read his own stories to her until she fell asleep. Growing up, she had to learn how to take care of the house with the help of their neighbor, Lady Eleanor. She also taught the young woman how to read and write while her father was away. Soon, she was able to do the house chores alone and write her own stories.

In the little town where she lives, people would often describe her as a simple princess because of her chosen clothes and her characteristics. She is friendly, polite, and full of imagination. Her medium-length brown wavy hair would bounce up and down while she skipped through the streets to her house, her blue eyes would sparkle when she found new books, and her skin was as brown as the freshly cooked crossaints she would devour in the early mornings.

She would often be seen wearing her white lace blouse, a dark brown soft corset and the sane colored skirt as it's her favorite clothes, but it would change into a dark brown cotton blouse and grey checkered lizzy dress for time to time. Basically, her wardrobe color consists of brown, white, and grey. She would just mix and match everything she has.

"Good morning, Chantea! You came at the right time! There are newly arrived books and papers for you at the back!" The daughter of the local bookstore owner told her. In exchange, she would give them one of her written story, which a lot of people loved, because have you read a book, where as the villain wins and gets a happily ever after? No where, right?

"Thank you so much, Grace! Here's the continuation of The Evil Dean. I hope you'll like it!" You smiled and gave her a handcrafted pocket book.

"No way! You wrote it that fast! Is it possible that The Evil Dean and the princess end up together? Because I know it's erringly to imagine that two women would end up together and what would people think about it!" The young woman talked in a hush voice as if she's gossiping about other people's business.

"Don't be silly, Grace! Of course they can be together! Love is for everyone. Just remember, as long as you don't hurt others, it shouldn't be a problem, and who cares what other people think? I am certain they have other major problems to think about! My stories that I have been sharing with you, they aren't even real, I have made them up — you know daydreaming while I was doing my chores and have you ever heard about a school for good and evil? I doubt there's something like that." You snorted as you look through some of the boxes filled with books.

You hear her gasped and grabbed your wrist, looking at you with wide eyes as if you just said something offensive. You look at her confused and wait to elaborate on her reaction.

"You have never heard of the tales about Sophie and Agatha? Or Leonora of Gavaldon?" Grace searched your eyes for something to click in your wonderful brain of yours, but you still had the confused look on your face. Have you been living under a rock? you thought, as this was the first time you heard those names.

"You haven't heard anything about the twin brothers who founded the school for good and evil to groom hereos and villains? Sophie and Agatha of Gavaldon saved the school from the evil twin Rafal and united them together?" Grace summarized the whole tale in one and is shaking your shoulders for you to wake up from your coma.

"I'm sorry, Grace, but my father always told me not to believe in tales until I have seen it myself, and my father isn't a big fan of hereos saving the princess because in all of us there is good and evil, there's a hereo and villain in us. We will always be a different character in someone else's story. I might be your princess friend who gives you free story time in this liefetime, but in others, I might be a wicked witch disguised as a writer who corrupts your mind into thinking same sex relationship is a good thing." You stopped her from shaking you by putting your hand on top hers, and you eyed her suspiciously to read if she saw your lie in your words, you snorted when she dropped her jaw and her arms to her side and has no clue you just told her a lie. You shook your head side to side and continued looking for new books in stacked boxes.

Your father isn't a fan of those popular hereos saving princesses from villains because for him, there is no such as fairy-tales. He only believes that surviving this cruel world is the only tale you should pass on.

You knew your father isn't the most innocent man on earth, but you have to give it to him. He's a good father. He could've just left and forgotten about his responsibilities, but no. He would come back home for a while to spend time with you and would bring various gifts. It's either new clothes, new papers, new leathers, inks, or quilts. He is indeed a good father, but if you look past that, if you only look at the things he does for a living, you'll probably have to pretend not to know him.

Despite your father's loathe against the stereotyped stories — you read them. Every single one of them, it would be a lie if you hadn't daydreamed about a knight rescuing you from this lonely place. It helped you cope with your parent's absence and being alone in a house for three people.

"Grace? You mentioned a name earlier... Leonora of Gavaldon? What happened to that girl?" You asked as you found a book with a stamp saying S. G. E. with golden swans around it.

"My mother used to tell us 22 years ago a girl named Leonora was taken from Gavaldon by The School of Good and Evil, for some reason, they saw something in Leonora and took her under a blood-red sky. Nobody heard from her ever again, but some say Sophie and Agatha from the same village. When they came back, people heard them talking about Leonora and that she is alive and well. The only thing that confuses me as to why she didn't come back like the two girls?" Grace furrowed her brows as she opened a new box filled with books.

"Could it be she wasn't fond of living in Gavaldon? Maybe she found her purpose in that school, that's why she decided to stay." You said, giving her a side eye.

"Probably. We will never know. Do you want me to pack those?" Grace asked as she saw how many papers and books you were carrying.

You nodded and handed her the stuff. Grace started to pack the papers neatly in a papier bag when she suddenly remembered something.

"Oh... I almost forgot! There was a lady asking for your books. She looked very noble and rich. She had this big puffy red hair, wore a suit like dress, and had a cane. I gave her the evil dean as I have already finished it." Grace finished packing your stuff and handed it to you to place them in your basket.

"Really? That's odd. Nobody has asked about my books before, right?" You asked as you organize your basket.

"Mhm! I think your books are getting popular these days and Oh! Her reaction to your book was like a child receiving a present on Christmas day!" Grace added, slamming her hands on the counter with a lot of enthusiasm.

You chuckle a little bit and nod at her enthusiastic reaction. You thanked her again and proceeded with your list of chores. The next stop is the bakery, which wasn't far from the books store. As you walk down the streets, a lot of villagers greeted you with a good morning, and how are you's, which you respectfully returned.

The smell of freshly baked crossaints had you almost drooling as soon as you stepped foot inside the bakery. You smiled at the baker and asked for three crossaints, which you traded with 3 gold coins. You thanked them and continued to check your list of chores.

When you were meters away from your house, you saw a man standing in front of your gate, which you had never seen before. You cautiousley eyed the man as you slowly stopped in front of him and entered the gate.

"Miss? Are you the daughter of Mr. Withlock?" The man asked with caution and insecurity.

"Depends who is asking." You replied to be sure if this isn't one of those scamming schemes.

"I'm — well was his assistant, Gregory, before he continued his travels to the east. He requested that I should personally deliver this letter to you or well his daughter — if you're his daughter. Oh! and in this bag, there are various tools and materials he also wanted to give you." He hands you an envelope and a sailor bag made out of high-quality cotton and leather straps.

"Well, thank you." You felt guilty for snapping at him, even though he was already shaking in anxiously, so you beamed him a small smile before he nervously walks away.

You ripped the envelope open, scanning through the letter, you gasped. Your father had turned himself in to the authorities and left you the house and the money he earned from his writing job. Everything else he owned was confiscated by the authorities.

Now, would be the perfect timing for a prince charming to enter and save you from your loneliness, but nothing happened. You sighed, stuffing the letter into your basket and carry the sailor bag into the house.

Little did you know a certain red fox was lurking in the bushes, spying on you. As soon as it saw you enter the house and made it's way back into the forest. Dashing through the branches of fallen trees and bushes until it came to a halt. Morphing back to it's human form. Crane stumped on the earthy ground, puffy red hair bouncing up and down, dusting her dress suit off, with a swift motion of her hand, a magical portal began to open, as soon as she was inside, the portal closed and the forest became dark.

The Nova Family - Mainline Gen 7 - Young Adulthood

Thought I'd include a shot of all of Maddox's second stage kids together since I hadn't yet. The pointy ears in the family came from Petra and they're still poppin up from time to time. I think I've even given em to Bastian here and there as well.

ANYWAY, let's get back to Bash. Waking up weeks after the day he and his dad had been together at the military lab, Bastian is told his father has disappeared because he's in hot water after one of the techs caught him while he was working on Bastian. When he fled he also set their home on fire, but thankfully no one was hurt since most of the family were out for the day.

Initially Bash didn't know what to make of any of it and while he felt strange, to all the medical staff there he seemed perfectly fine aside from having been in a coma for several weeks.

As time went on, no one was able to figure out what had happened to Maddox so after about a year he was declared dead so everyone could move on with their life. At least in a legal sense.

As part of this Bastian got a sizable inheritance as his father had made him the sole beneficiary of the Nova Family Real Estate fortune. They had always lived frugally and his dad's last name wasn't even Nova so the whole thing caught him by great surprise. That being said, he was more than happy to spend that money - immediately buying a cheap houseboat and beginning his adventures as a traveling himbo fisherman.

These were good times. He met a lot of pretty girls.

Got himself a motorcycle.

Life was good ya know?

Until, like a suspicious mole on your leg you refuse to acknowledge, Bastian couldn't help but wonder what his dad was up to. Surely he wasn't really dead? Right? He just had a feeling and that feeling was unsettling.

So while he was loath to leave the life he had begun to enjoy he knew he had somewhat of a responsibility to figure it out.

And that's where we get to the Alterknight Saga which is probably where the majority of the lore and background on him was fleshed out. If you want to actually read it, I must warn you, it doesn't have a definitive ending, but you can do so here. It's probably one of my favorite things I've done on here?

It's kinda weird cause it's gameplay turned story midway through the first sims week but I'm going to do a summary of events in my next post. Including kinda what I was going for in the end. Sorry for how long these things are. I didn't plan how I was going to go about this at all. I did tag it properly at least "NovaLegacyRambles." Rambles indeed.

assuming youre asking for like general loz/totk thoughts, what are your thoughts/ideas that have sprouted from the light dragon?

No worries!

I actually got spoiled about the Light Dragon, literally on TotK's release day. Partly because of the YouTube algorithm and partly because my sheer curiosity was too strong that day. I essentially went into a singular state of TotK madness that day and the next 2 weeks afterwards. lmao

So I didn't get a strong emotional reaction like many other players did to the "reveal" once I knew what happened and why the Light Dragon exists. And as a result, I had a different gamplay experience as well as a different set of headcanons to how Link would comprehend the Light Dragon's existence.

And MAJOR TOTK SPOILERS AHEAD. Reader's discretion advised. (and long post incoming....)

The whole plot twist about Zelda transforming into the Light Dragon to spend the next 10 000 years to repair and infused her Sacred Powers into the Master Sword. It actually reminded me a lot of Doctor Who and the story tropes they had in regards to time travelling and what kind of impact that would inflict onto the characters involved. Particularly their individual perspectives of time.

Zelda essentially had to take the long path to the future.

With no other options to time travel herself back to the future...along with the Master Sword needing to be repaired...with what little time she had left. Zelda chose to undergo draconification and in a way, the Light Dragon was her vassal to travel into the future.

And...dare I say, to describe Zelda's plan to - transforms into an immortal dragon and restore the Master Sword for the next 10 000 years and that Link will hopefully recognise her as the Light Dragon and retrieve the Master Sword from her - as "long shoot" would be an understatement.

Her chances of her plan to succeed is - in the closest real life terms I can think of - the equivalent of NASA launching the New Horizon satelite in 2006, travelling through space in hibernation until it reached Pluto in the closest range that they could get to, in 2015. And it worked! (There's probably a better analogy to this but this is the closest I can think of.)

AND THEN, at the ending when the Light Dragon was transformed back into Zelda and how she woke up with the "feeling of a warm hug". This indicates that despite the looong path to the future she had to take... Her time perspective felt so short!

One moment, she was in a state of pain-filled dread and hope before her draconifcation. The next moment, she was in the warm arms of Link.

AND THEN THERE'S LINK'S OWN TIME PERSPECTIVE.

For Link, it must be very jarring for him to experience the whiplash of the Light Dragon's reveal as he experienced each Dragon's Tear memory.

One day, Link's arm almost gets severely damaged along with the Master Swird and watches Zelda disappear in a flash of light. Then the next moment, he wakes up with a strange new arm and then watches the Decayed Master Sword disappear in the same way as Zelda! And then finds out that its been....a month I guess (they didn't really say how long were Link & Zelda were missing from Hyrule) and the Upheavel happened while Link was in a coma...again.

And then...a week or heck a month later...Link finds out that Zelda willingly sacrificed her own state of being and spent the next 10 000 years as the Light Dragon as a means to travel back to the future and strengthen the Master Sword....all for HIM.

That is so gut wretching for Link to find out.

Whether or not, Zelda was completely lost in the Light Dragon...or was in a "state of preserved slumber" is another question though. Especially after the Ending.

I don't know if other players think about what the Wibbly-Wobbly-Timey-Wimey perspectives would be like for these two. But this is my deep thoughts about the Light Dragon and the story plot around it.

When I saw that you asked about Ocelot. barking biting this guy occupies such a big portion of my thoughts.

First impression

If we're talking VERY first the gay guy Venom splashes in the rain with. kinda awesome that he does that. (I saw the model swap of the Quiet cutscene with no context and then thought it's the original for years).

If it's about the proper introduction to the series I started with mgs3 and lost my shit at the meow. I do that now too. Together with the hand gesture and the 'I've been waiting for this' he does at the waterfall. He's a dipshit for how he treated Eva even if it was for show. I didn't see him being a triple agent coming and thought that was cool.

Impression now

I have. so many thoughts about Revolver Adam Adamska (not a real name) Shalashaska Ocelot. fuck this guy. I hate him. he makes me so sad I want to cry. want to punch him in the face. make him a nice cup of tea and let him sleep. feed him to the bears.

He was raised to be a weapon, and yet he is a creature of emotion and love that exists hand in hand with violence. He was never meant to be a person but all that he cares about are people's real names and his comrades (that aren't actually that, he's a triple agent) that Volgin kills, and animal and plants facts. He loves westerns and made them his whole personality for decades and decades. He talked to guy once and then almost burned the world down for him. A lot of times.

I find it so interesting that in v he says he plays up the idea of himself being a sadist and enjoying torture to some extent. I think the Huey interrogations show a lot of how he actually likes doing his work, which has an accent on efficiency and not blood and guts. It's simultaneously cruel and merciful, and it saves time and lives that he can use for something else. I could go on and on about this guy honestly, there are so many fascinating things about him.

Favorite moment

What isn't honestly. The meow. The revolver spin. He tried to poke Snake in his missing fucking eye?? The way he dresses in mgs1&2. also

"It doesn’t feel right to shoot an unarmed man…but I’ll get over it." Slay.

Idea for a story

Let's see I have so many of those. The idea of Ocelot inheriting some of Sorrow's powers is really fun, I was thinking about writing about him using it for a mission with Kaz where they have to dig a dead guy up and interrogate him to get some info.

Unpopular opinion

His feelings towards bb have never been reciprocated, he has never tried to act on them, and is fine with that. him in v is the closest we ever get to seeing him being his genuine self. There is not enough information about how his hypnosis works but that's an interpretation of it that I really like. Also people seem to be really hung up on the fact that he is ""canonically"" gay when he isn't canonically anything. so I guess my unpopular opinion is not necessarily viewing him as specifically gay idk.

Favorite relationship

sigh. ocelhira. horrible terrible predictable I know. I have a big ass wall of text about them in my notes I need to finish. even the ship stuff aside, the things they were hypothetically up to during the nine year coma must have been insane. and after that? What about FOXHOUND? Or Kaz's death? So much could've happened during all of it aghhh. Even during events of v, we get so little of them together in it. Also Ocelot is a loser and has no other friends lol look at that guy. Him and Eva before mgs4 are such a cool duo though, a shame we didn't get to see any of their dynamic in that time period, or during the Patriots.

He's on aroace spectrum. also stupidly in love with kaz miller and the reasoning for why and what and how is entirely in my head and hopefully in text at some point, it makes sense I promise. I just like when characters are in love even though I am so bad at understanding what that entails but so is he so that's fine. Their dynamic is really interesting to me.

Oh No! Here Comes Trouble ep 12

Completely satisfied with this show and definitely expect to watch it again.

Okay, spoilers for the series follow so don't read if you haven't watched the whole thing.

The good

Script, story, characters, acting, comedy, direction, cinematography. Basically everything.

Unclear/didn't understand

I didn't get the bit with the security guard and his accuser. I thought it was setting up another obsession but it just happened, then they went back to it with a repeat of the action. Will rewatch to see if I missed something (was interrupted several times (grumble) so this very well could just be me).

Could've been better

CGI was pretty good in general though the closeup paper bits landing were a little, oh, procedural vs. natural. The big plane crash (the full scene) wasn't quite as convincing as I would have liked but I get that budget isn't infinite and this kind of work is expensive. (Heck, big budget movies often have less convincing CGI than this series.)

Subtitles often were a bit fleeting (the English ones) especially when there was a short line. Dear subtitle team: love your work but please remember that we are switching between watching the action and reading so we have to spend time on both; it's not the same as listening to dialog and watching simultaneously. I had to rewind quite a few times because I wasnn't sure what had been said because I took my eyes off the titles for a moment and missed something.

Things I loved

The writing was terrific. Not one of the obsessions played out like you might have expected. Twists every time!

Every. single. one. of the actors were good. Every one of the minor roles was done well. The actor playing the OLD WOMAN was brilliant, made more effective by a great costume, hair, the smoking (lighting a wet butt was a genius touch). Traffic boulder man was perfectly menacing.

Guang Yan's reaction to being pulled away from Yi Yong by Li Song was devastating and perfect; Cian You nailed it.

The scene where Yi Yong and Bao Sheng are talking in the hospital after Yi Yong wakes up was economically written and acted. Scenes like this are often overloaded with exposition or overdone by the actors/directors. They didn't even say that Ren Xiu had died; the acting did it all. Cheryl Yang seemed effortless in all her parts, whether doing comedy or badassery.

Another example of beautiful spareness in writing and directing was when Yi Yong went to the (graveyard? mausoleum?). We don't know where he's going in the taxi, the taxi driver just gets out (sensitive!) and Yi Yong's sobbing is perhaps all the more heartbreaking because it was shot from outside the taxi.

The first balcony scene with Ren Xiu and Yi Yong was another example of terrific writing. We got introduced to Ren Xiu's character and the real nature of his relationship with his son in such a short time, yet you learned enough to care about him. The second balcony scene was beautifully acted by both men, and the necessary tonal shifts were slow and delicate enough to keep the viewer in the moment.

Loved the ending. Wake up, hear yet another plea for help, roll eyes, roll credits. That said, Yi Yong losing another couple of years to a coma? UNFAIR.

Side notes

Jing Hua actually spent time to learn calligraphy in more depth. I assume (as someone who doesn't read it) that he had to be convincing enough to make Chinese viewers believe in his expertise. Role reversal: in one of the behind the scenes videos, Cian You gives Jing Hua a cartoon of him that he said that he had drawn.

Conclusion: 🎖️ Absolutely recommended. Run, do not walk to your preferred IQIYI access.

Going to re-watch and think about this some more.
