“Curly, no.”
“C’mon, nobody’s gonna know, Ponyboy!”
Ponyboy stared at the teenager outside his window, exasperated. The feeling of the splintering window frame beneath his hands has become familiar, as Curly has been here every night for two straight weeks. He makes an attempt to convince Pony to come join him, but it’s usually met with resistance from the Curtis boy. But he will admit, the exhilaration and freedom that came from Curly’s revels was worth it. Even if the night usually ended in Pony and Curly screaming at each other.
But his brothers had started to catch on that something was happening. They don’t like the Shepard kid, so they shut down Pony’s good times with him quickly.
“Look, I’m glad you’re out again after everything that happened. I really am.” Darry sighed s he lectured Pony. “But there’s better guys than Curly Shepard. Do you want to be put in the reformatory with him?”
Pony had begrudgingly conceded, but that didn’t mean Curly had.
“Ain’t it right that Darry works late every Saturday? An’ didn’t I just hear that the one an’ only Sodapop Curtis was out with some Soc? Nobody’s here to stop y’a. So jus’ come have fun for once.”
Pony groaned, looking desperately at his desk for a book to knock him out and decide for him. The cold wind seemed almost enticing tonight, as if everything wanted him to just climb out of this very window and run with the middle Shepard sibling. He tried to remember his oldest brother’s warning, but that wasn’t working tonight. Pony was restless.
“I’ll buy you a Pepsi. You hear that? Buy, not steal.”
Pony grinned at that comment. Curly buying someone something was a big deal. “I don’t believe you.”
But his legs were already swinging over the windowsill in preparation for him jumping down. As he let go, he heard Curly’s chuckle as Pony fell hard onto the ground. He never got better at the dismount.
Curly clapped Pony on the back as he brushed the coarse dirt off his pants. “That’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout!”
The two boys walked away from the Curtis home, talking animatedly about everything and nothing. Pony knew he had hell to pay if his brothers found out - but if was the key word.

Misogyny in the fandom: let's talk about it
Not gonna lie, the level of interalized or even just blatant misogyny in this fandom is really disheartening sometimes. There is already VERY few female characters in the book, even fewer with speaking roles, and yet I see all of them being hated on in some way. People hate on Cherry for standing up for herself when Dally was harrasing her, and for not seeing Johnny in the hospital, which bullshit to begin with but also, you can't tell me that if the roles were reversed and Cherry sat down behind Dallas and starting talking about how stupid and classless greaser boys are, and Dally threw a coke at her, that the fandom wouldn't love him all the more for it. People hold her to this impossible golden standard, expecting her to literally be perfect instead of a conflicted and grieving teenage girl, when they embrace the flaws and give a lot more grace to much more violent and 'bad' male characters. It's a very 'boys will be boys' and 'girls mature fatser so they should know better' double standard that I really can't stand. Marcia gets a level of the same treatment, with people occasionally calling her vapid or shallow when the book makes it clear she and Two-bit actually really hit it off, and the number she gave him being fake was only Two and Ponyboy's speculation. But I digress. Moving on.
Misogyny and classism intersect when it comes to the few female greaser characters we get a little insight on. So many people LOATHE both Sandy and Sylvia because they're cheaters, but honestly, how is cheating worse than stealing? (And don't pretend they steal because they need to survive Ponyboy makes a point of claiming Two-bit doesn't really need or want half the stuff he shoplifts) How is it worse than jumping little kids? How is it worse than sexually harassing girls? How is it worse than the plethora of immoral or illegal activities the greaser guys partake in? If we're being 100% honest, it isn't. "But-but Sandy cheated on Soda, who really loved her". Yeah, she did. That was shitty of her, I'm not defending that, but she was also a sixteen year old girl in a tough situation she was trying to navigate the best she could. She could have lied and told Soda it was his and trapped him in a marriage raising a kid he definitely couldn't afford if she wanted to- but she didn't. Hell, she told him the truth and he was still ready to do that and she wouldn't let him. I don't think those are the actions of a completely terrible person, I think they're the actions of a scared kid who did some shitty things, but is trying her best and trying to do better. At the VERY least they're the actions of a multifaceted character who deserves the same level of grace and insight afforded to the male characters. (If anyone wants to read more of my thoughts on Sandy and her narrative importance, I have a post here). There's also something to be said about the poor 'greasy' girls facing harsher vitriol than the soc girls, and while part of it is because of Ponyboy's biased narration, it's clear to see that readers very much took his views at face value. Soc girls are 'good girls' and have to be perfect to deserve credit from the fans, but greasy girls are 'trashy' so it's ok for them to be judged and shit on. Spoiler alert: it isn't.
Sylvia is similar to Sandy in that her cheating and 'loose' behaviour earn her a lot of hate, which again, I'm not defending her cheating, but we need to give her the same analysis and benefit of the doubt given to Dally. Dally is NOT a good person. Ponyboy says this and makes it clear plenty of times. He's a hurt character, so we can explien why he is the way he is, but he isn't a GOOD character. he values loyalty, so he never cheated on Sylvia, but it's clear based on how he treats Cherry and casual comments he makes that he doesn't really respect women. I can't imagine Sylvia's experience dating him was one where she felt very adored. Again, not an excuse for cheating, but I can understand WHY she'd try and take back power within a dynamic and a society where she never had any, and I don't want to vilify her for that. She's also a poor woman growing up in the sixties- the book makes it clear life is hard enough for poor guys griowing up at that time, but it was probably equally if not more hard for poor women. I think, like the gang, she does what she had to to survive. If you can understand why the gang does bad things, and still be humans who can be considered good, you can extend the same understanding to Sylvia (and Sandy.) I think people need to also keep in mind that everything we know ABOUT Sylvia (and the rest of the female characters) we know from Ponyboy, a fourteen year old boy who's narration is INCREDIBLY biased and who doesn't have the full details of any of the relationships in the gang. Ponyboy sees Sylvia and Sandy as these terrible, loose women who have hurt people he cares about, so a lot of the fandom does too, but it doesn't change the fact that by doing so you're accepting and embracing Ponyboy's internalized misogyny and making it your own.
Anyway, I don't think I'm articulating this as well as i want to, and i spoke a bit more about this in this reply to one of the posts on the confessions page, but yeah, I just wish people could accept that fact that if they bend over backward to find ways to defend or explain immoral actions from male characters, but refuse to even attempt to do the same for female characters, they've probably internalized a bit of misogyny they should maybe work on.

I Explain the Context for the songs in The Outsiders Musical
Spoilers for the Musical under cut! I was lucky enough to see the show in person so now that the album is out I decided to provide context for the songs so people listening to the album can know where in the story each one takes place/what is happening on stage during. Also some fun tidbits sprinkled in because this show is really so amazing I can not praise it enough.
Tulsa '67:
The self-explained exposition song. We get the intro being the first line of the book and then we get the song as out introductions to the characters. One thing that is interesting is that there's a projector screen on stage and for this song Pony sits in front of the screen and speaks to the audience while the other characters are behind the screen. Acting out little scenes to show their personality while Ponyboy narrates and at the end of the song the screen lifts up to show a clear view of the stage. It's also right before Ponyboy gets jumped.
Grease Got a Hold:
Right after Ponyboy gets jumped. Like the song says in this version of the story a greaser isn't just something you are born into it's something you "earn" by being beaten down on by the socs. It shows the differences in each character most notably Darry and Dally because Darry hates the idea of Pony being stuck as a greaser, presumably because he wants more for his little brother, while Dally sees being a Greaser as something to be proud of. Presumably the first time Ponyboy gets to grease his hair (this song was also performed on the Today show and I highly recommend looking up the performance it's so good, it should be available on the today show website along with the other songs performed that day)
Runs in the Family:
Darry gets a song! After the previous song we cut to Darry in the Curtis home reflecting on where he was going in life versus where he ended up. In the musical the fact that Darry would be a soc without the gang is played up a lot more. The emphasize Darry's friendship with Paul and their history seems to go a lot deeper than just football buddies. Paul mentions gifting Darry a madras shirt and Darry being over at his house. The rest of the gang piles in at the end of the song.
Great Expectations:
The titular 'I want' song in any musical. The night after getting jumped Ponyboy tells Soda about reading great expectations and after Soda bids him goodnight he starts singing. When he mentions Darry and Johnny the actors come on stage. And at the end of the song the chorus of overlapping voices is the whole gang on the outskirts of the stage looking down/at Pony while Ponyboy sings out to the audience. (This song was also performed on the Today show)
Friday at the Drive-In:
The Soc introduction song. I think an important thing to note is that while the greasers dancing is far more rough and tumble. Jumping around and over each other, spinning and getting out nervous energy. The socs are far more reserved in their movements. They are still dancing around with spins and flips but this scene features a lot of partner dancing that's more self contained than the greasers who jump all around the stage.
I Could Talk To You All Night:
After Johnny tells Dally off/Dally leaves. Ponyboy and Cherry go to the concessions stand together. While in line Ponyboy tells her about Johnny getting jumped to which Cherry tries to defend Bob as Ponyboy already knows it was her boyfriend who beat Johnny up. Her defending him is half hearted though when Pony insists Johnny didn't do anything, he mentions reading Great Expectations to her and she tells him how Pip gets a happy ending before they start this song. It carries the story forward up until the end of the movie/the scene where they try to walk the girls home only for Bob and the socs to stop him. Also, in the musical Cherry does not go with Bob and instead breaks up with him right then and there because she's tired of all the fighting.
Runs in the Family(Reprise):
Ponyboy and Johnny make it to the Curtis house and instead of falling asleep at the lot it's stated that Ponyboy just spent so long talking to Cherry that that was why he was late for curfew. He acts nonchalant about it and Darry bursts into the reprise. There's also a scene here where Darry goes to advance on Johnny only for Soda to step between him(I think this was meant to be a moment where Darry is just lashing out because he's under a lot of stress as a guardian and Johnny is there but it hurts my heart a little to think Johnny was scared in that moment as he backs up and ducks away before Soda steps in front of him) And after the slap Ponyboy freezes until Johnny runs over and tells him they gotta get out of there.
Far Away From Tulsa:
After getting hit is when the two wind up at the park. Their conversation in the book about a life outside of Tulsa is now taking place after Darry has hit Ponyboy which makes his desire to find a place without worries all the more real. Johnny and Pony have this beautiful moment on stage together where they look out to the audience together and imagine a life where they can do and be whoever they want. Which makes it hurt all the more that right after they sing all their desires for a better life is when Bob and the rest of the socs show up.
Run Run Brother:
The two make it to Buck's after the stabbing of Bob where they ask for Dally. It's worth mentioning that Dally straight up mentions his willingness to die for Pony and Johnny, and that he thinks of the two of them as brothers, though I can not remember if this happens here or after 'Grease Got A Hold'. After the first bit of the song the scene shifts from Buck's to Pony and Johnny running to the train/hiding from the workers as they make their way to Windrixville. There's also a line in the beginning when Pony says 'when I came to there was Johnny with his knife' this is important and I'll explain in 'Little Brother.' I also really like the detail of before, during 'Grease Got a Hold', 'you're a greaser now and you ain't going back' was said as a proud statement and now when the chorus sings it it sounds sad and almost like a death sentence.
Justice for Tulsa:
We cut back to Tulsa after the boys escape. The cops line up the socs on the stage as they call for justice now that one of their own has been murdered. When Cherry speaks she is doing it at the vigil the soc's are holding for Bob before Randy approaches her. He's organizing a hunting party against the greasers. It's worth mentioning that when Cherry speaks against him Marcia tries to go to her side only for the other soc girl in the show(Bev) to hold her back. Cherry leaves alone and once she's gone Marcia pick up a flashlight, which serves as the symbol for the socs hunting down the greasers with no mercy during this scene. Where in the book Dally mentions Two-Bit getting jumped during this song we see it happen. The socs jump him and Bev holds a lit cigarette to his cheek while the guys hold him down(in the live version of this song we hear Two-Bit's scream) It's worth mentioning that Randy does not get a redemption in this version, in fact, outside of Cherry the socs are pretty much painted at the bad guys with her as the one exception. Even though we get Randy's emotions with 'this can't be real, he can't be gone' rather than feeling sadness over his friend's death for too long Randy switches to anger. Cherry's role as such has been adapted to be a mix of her and Randy from the book in terms of story beats.
Death's At My Door:
The boy's are in the church, as far as I can recall this was after they cut their hair and I believe it was meant to be implied that a day or two has passed since Bob's death. Though if this is before or after Pony read the poem I no longer remember. The two boys are relying on each other in this scene as they reflect on how nothing is gonna be the same again what with their ability to go home taken away unless they want Johnny to be thrown in jail. Something I forgot to mention before is that Pony blames himself for his parents death. In the musical he say that on Darry's birthday he was supposed to pick up a special frosting for his brother's cake from a bakery his mother liked. But because he forgot his parents had to go out of their way to go and get it and thus were hit by the train because they had to go over the tracks. He tells Cherry before 'I Could Talk To You For Hours' that if he had just remembered his parents would still be alive. Which is why in this song he claims death follows him because he believes his parent's would still be alive if he had remembered to pick up the frosting, and that Bob would still be alive if he hadn't run out of the house/if Johnny didn't need to protect him.
Throwing in the Towel:
We cut back to Darry and Soda after the boys have been missing for a few days. Darry finally breaks down to Soda all the pressure he's under and how he feels like his brother's would be better off without him. He admits how much he thinks this is all his fault for being too hard on Pony and causing him to storm off after hitting him. During this scene while Soda and Darry are singing Ponyboy can be seen at the back on the stage watching them, and during the last chorus of the song 'this it the darkest hour of the darkest night' his voice joins his brothers. (This song was also performed on the Today Show and you should go watch it)
Soda's Letter:
Back in the church now right after Dally gets there after greeting Pony and Johnny he hands over the letter for Pony to read. Ponyboy reads it at the front of the stage while Soda's actor sing behind him/looking at him. Pretty much unchanged in terms of what Soda's letter gives to the story/when it given/read. The final "Ponyboy this house ain't a home without you" is sung by Darry who makes his way onto stage when Soda mentions him in the letter and we see him behind Ponyboy all but begging his brother to come home in this song.
Hoods Turned Heroes:
This is the fire song. We see Pony, Dally and Johnny in the church, I saw Pony light the cigarette and toss it behind him. I saw the flames go up and a terrified Ponyboy going "it's my fault" and then we cut to Two-Bit, grabbing the paper and beginning this song. We see a somewhat split stage in terms of spacing, the greasers back in Tulsa on one side, passing the newspaper between them as they read it, and we see Pony and Johnny in the middle saving the kids from the church. The scene is actually so creatively done and I adore it, outside of the fire they have two actors hold up a blanket and use shadows to show Pony and Johnny pulling kids from the fire since there are no child actors in this production. Interlaced with the puppetry of the saving kids we see Johnny and Pony sliding out from under the blanket and jump around beams that are held up by other actors while the paper is being read. All ending with Dally going in after Johnny. The scene changes to Dally holding Johnny, who's been changed into a hospital gown, and Dally gently lays him on the hospital bed when the song ends.
Hopeless War:
Before the rumble Pony does not leave the hospital. He stays there watching Johnny until Cherry comes in. She looks at Johnny, asking after his health, before turning to Pony and begging him not to fight. But if you recall earlier, as far as the musical is concerned the fire was set by Ponyboy's cigarette(sidenote: I think it'd be cool if every night they rotated who lights the cigarette and throws it and just switch Pony's line from "it's my fault" to "it's our fault" but I only saw the show once so I assume it's the same every time for who lights the fire even though it the book and movie we don't know for sure) So Pony can't listen to Cherry, even though in this scene she's taking the place of Pony's discussion with Randy in the book about the fight not making areal difference, because he sees this as his only chance to try and do something for Johnny since he can't do much else but watch over him in the hospital.
Trouble:
We cut to directly after Pony's discussion with Cherry. The greasers have their war cry of trouble brewing as everyone prepares for the rumble. While Ponyboy gets ready Darry comes up and begs him not to fight. If you recall during "Grease Got a Hold" Darry says how Pony "better know what you're fighting for" But he still doesn't want his brother to have to fight. But by this point Pony had his reason for fighting and he's the one to rally the gang with the call of "Do it for Johnny!" right before the socs roll up. Dally does say “do it for Johnny” at the beginning of the song but it’s Ponyboy who uses it as a war cry. Dally also has a moment where he calls out Darry for being on the greasers side when he was so against being a greaser before, but Darry looks at him and says confidently "once a greaser always a greaser". Paul has a moment with Darry where he calls him out for wanting to be a soc but Darry shuts him right down and the rumble is on.
Little Brother:
Right after the rumble the entire gang heads over to see Johnny, yes, the entire gang. Not just Pony and Dally everyone gathers around him and tells him about beating the socs. They watch as Johnny tells Pony to stay gold and they all break down when he passes, Dally runs out before anyone can stop him. He makes it to the top of the stage, and he begins his song. breaking down the boards around him in a show of anger and violence while the ensemble sings below him looking up. He says tearfully "I could not save you" remember during 'Run run brother' where I said the knife would be brought up later? It's because Dally was the one to give him the switchblade. Before the socs get their number Dally comes across Johnny staying in the lot while his parents are fighting. He tells Dally how he's been uncertain since he was jumped to be out alone. So Dally reaches into his jacket, pulls out the blade, and gives it to him(that one promo pic) and Dally tells him that "if you're gonna use it, use it" and I believe he says something along the lines of "because if you do there's no going back" Dally gave Johnny that knife to try and protect him, but all it did was sign his death warrant. It protected him from Bob but not from anything else, not from the fire. And when Dally said he would die for Pony and Johnny he meant it. He sings and is joined by the cast who echo him "little brother" but he stands alone at the top of the stage. He makes his way down to the bottom portion of the stage, stepping onto the train tracks(in my mind it's the same spot where the Curtis' parents crashed) planting his feet and squaring his shoulders before the song ends, and the train comes. According to Ponyboy his body derailed the train, and Pony likes to believe that despite that, some part of Dallas Winston managed to make it's way back to New York. (Playbill released Joshua Boone singing this song and it's so heartbreaking because there is no ensemble in that version so you have to sit with the harsh melody when Dally makes his choice to face the train head on)
Stay Gold:
After Dally's death we head back to the Curtis house. We don't get a time frame but going off the book it's been a week or two since they've both died. Cherry comes by with Johnny's things from the hospital, she mentions she volunteers there now, and gives Pony Johnny's letter for him. Pony refuses to read it but after Soda has his break down about "we're all we got left" he grabs Johnny's letter and starts to read it for Pony. Getting a line or two in before Pony asks for it, starts to read it himself, and the song begins. Johnny Cade joins us back on stage as he sings to Pony his hope for the world he has to leave behind. And of course, that request to stay gold.
Finale (Tulsa '67):
After reading Johnny's letter Ponyboy begins to write his theme. He finishes a page or two before joining his brothers at the table, he tells them what he writing about and Soda tells him to read it. Pony says it's only a few pages but Darry speaks up, "Can I read it?" he asks. And Pony hands it over, it isn't Ponyboy reading that intro again, but Darry, determined to do better by his brother and reading his work. He and Soda pass the theme to each other, taking turns reading sections aloud while Pony sings. Sings about Tulsa and the gang, of Dally who saw being a greaser as a badge of honor, of Johnny who wanted more for himself and more for Ponyboy who vows that "in his memory I'll stay gold!" The entire cast comes onto the stage as they sing, no longer to each other but to the audience, "stay gold!" It is something that has stuck with me and will stick with me to know that those final lines were no longer characters talking to each other, but talking to the audience right as the show comes to an end.
Anyways this got way longer then I thought but if you want me to ramble more about the show literally just ask I can not stop thinking about it. Might make another post about the differences between the musical and the book.

Things I'm noticing on my reread. Chapters 1-2
Darry was captain of the football team in school
Soda knows how to lift one eye-brow and he learned it from Two-Bit
DARRY APOLOGIZES TO PONYBOY IN CHAPTER ONE
Ponyboy has to put a stupid bandaid on the cut he got bc Darry told him to.
when asked about school at the end of chapter one, Soda redirects to talk about Sandy instead
could be wrong but Dally is waiting to meet Johnny and Pony under a streetlight at the beginning of chapter two, would be kinda cool if it's the same one he dies under
Hinton always avoids going into detail about what Dallas is saying when Ponyboy talks about how good he can swear or how dirty he can talk.
PONYBOY CALLS DALLAS OLD IN CHAPTER TWO D:
Cherry ate with "too bad you can't ride a bull half as well as you can talk it" no crumbs
Cherry apologizes to Ponyboy when he says he's friends with Dallas. I just thought that was funny.
TWICE HE CALLS DALLAS OLD IN CHAPTER TWO
slightly off-topic but a couple times Pony will explain something they do and go "don't ask me why, I don't know why" meaning he knows how shitty some things they do are, but it's just the way that it is, and if he felt like he had a choice, he wouldn't say or do those things.
Two-Bit is good at voice imitations!! I feel like we moved past that one too quick
GUYS CHERRY IS SO FUNNY I LOVE HER SM.
Two bit jokingly goes "who's this? your great aunts?" and Cherry (the GOAT) Valance goes "Great-grandmothers, twice removed" THAT WAS SO FUNNY.
Two-Bit does the eyebrow thing when he's puzzled or confused <3
GUYS THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN TWO-BIT AND THESE GIRLS.
Guys even Two-Bit called Dallas old.
okay but "Mr. Timothy Shepherd and Co." was one of the funniest things Two-Bit ever said.
I feel like the sentence "He sure put things into words good" was bad on purpose. Like Pony you're writing a BOOK wtf are you talking ab
TWO-BIT HAS GREY EYES <3333
It's interesting to me how the Socs attack on Johnny effected him more than a whipping from his father with a two-by-four
Also Dallas looked sick at seeing Johnny all beat up, despite having watched, yunno, murders back in NY
guys off-topic but Cherry is such a girlboss
anyway
Sylvia tried to make a move on Johnny while Dally was in reform school >:(
Chapter two ends with "I know better now." which actually like stabbed me through the heart bc AGH
Lmk if you want more updates and lists like this as I reread. This was only chapter one and two D:

Here’s my piping hot take on the outsiders
Okay, this is gonna ruffle some feathers but I don't think it makes sense when people dislike Dallas for what he did to Cherry…….
NOW I KNOW IT SOUNDS BAD- but believe that my opinion is justified. I’m not saying that what Dallas did to her was okay because it wasn’t. He was a total douchebag. I think disliking a character for harassing someone is valid, but you shouldn’t hate JUST HIM for it.
Though some of you may not have read the book, there’s a very important detail in the drive-in scene that is so overlooked. I haven’t seen anyone talk about matter of fact. And it’s that Pony explicitly detailed that Dallas wasn’t the only one who engaged in this kind of behavior. “Two-Bit or Steve or even Soda would have gone right along with him, just to see if they could embarrass the girls” The rest of the boys would have done the exact same thing!!! He says it like this is a very common thing that the gang does to women- because it is. He even goes on to say “I wouldn't have felt so embarrassed if they had been greasy girls- I might even have helped old Dallas. But those two girls weren't our kind.” Pony only wouldn’t hit on them because they were Socs (but he can hit on greaser girls?? Not cool pony boy!)
Now I know that Dallas did initiate the gross comments but Pony does tell us the whole gang (excluding Darry and Johnny because he doesn’t mention them) treats women like this all the time! He talks about how they will be polite to girls they know but not strangers,” I don't know how to explain it —we try to be nice to the girls we see once in a while, like cousins or the girls in class; but we still watch a nice girl go by on a street corner and say all kinds of lousy stuff about her.”
All of this to say I don’t think using that situation to hate on Dallas is valid unless you hate on the rest of them! I understand not liking him because he has jumped and robbed people, but his situation with Cherry was unfortunately normal behavior for the time. Let’s be honest, all the boys probably weren’t as respectful as we’d like because, well, it was the '60s.
Wow, this was long but…. It’s whatever
Thank you for listening to my TED talk! 😙

Hiii!
Was wondering that could you do like an angst with a happy ending for Ponyboy and a NiceSoc!reader Fic? Like the reader is a bit of jealous that her crush (Ponyboy) take interest in Cherry and start ignoring the reader to spend time with Cherry more and the reader starts feeling left out and she starts distancing herself from Ponyboy, and Pony notices this and they kinda reconcile at the end please? (I’m sorry if my English is bad since it’s isn’t my first language<3🫶💖)
Summary: In which you are jealous of Pony’s new friend Cherry.
Warnings: jealousy, pony ignoring you (not full out) Author's Note: so tired today, probably the only post for tday.
Ponyboy had been your lifelong crush. You could only describe it as a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ love. You're a soc and he's a greaser, but that made him all the more enticing.
You and Pony were actually good friends. You talked quite a bit at school and always walked you home. As you were waiting for him you saw him walking the other direction.
“Pony! Where you goin?” You called, jogging after him. He turned around, surprised that you were there.
“Oh, sorry Y/n, I promised Cherry I'd walk her to the drive in… you understand, right?” He asked, an apologetic wince crossing his features.
“Oh..Cherry? Like the..the soc?” You asked, shocked that she was walking home with Pony. He just nodded and waved a quick bye before walking away. You watched as he walked with her and turned around to start your long journey home.
Ever since then, Ponyboy started to hang out with Cherry more and with you less. You took it as a sign to step away from your relationship and the possibility of ever getting with Pony, even if the thought hurt you. It wasn't until he decided that he wanted to walk home with you that he discovered your feelings.
He was waiting for you at your normal meeting point when Soda came up to him
“What're waiting for? Let's go home”
“I'm waiting for Y/n, I want to walk them.”
“Pony, they left like 10 minutes ago.”
“What?!”
He was red-face and out of breath from running by the time he caught up to you. “Y/n, you’re supposed to wait for me, man!” “Oh, sorry. Thought you were walking with Cherry again.” You said softly. It took a while for Pony to register the real hurt in your voice, and what he’d been doing to you. “Oh..” He replied after a while. “Y/n, are you…jealous?” He asked, risking everything for you just to tell him what's wrong. “That’s a terrible way to put it, Pony. As if I was in the wrong..” You scoffed at him, folding your arms. “Are you?” “..Yeah.” You rubbed a hand over your face, taking a deep breath and you feel one of Pony’s arms wrap around your waist. “I’m so, so, sorry Y/n for making you feel left out. I never meant for you to feel that way.” He said, trying to make you feel better. “It’s fine, just go hang out with your girlfriend or whatever..” “Girlfriend?” He asked, shocked and a bit embarrassed.. You just rolled your eyes. “So, you haven’t asked her out yet?” You tried to tease him, but it hurt having to see acting so different for another girl. “No, actually..Cherry was helping me ask someone else out.” He said, smiling at you. Your heart was broken again, not only was he hanging out with another girl, but he was actually planning to confess to somone too! His smile was full of joy and you tried to return it before trying to walk away. “Oh my god, Y/n. Seriously?! You’re the girl!” He pulled you back to him before you could walk away and you nearly burst into laughter. “Huh?!” You asked, smiling from ear to ear. He just rolled his eyes with a smile. “If you can, huh, you can hear.” He teased and you laughed. “Will you be my girlfriend Y/n?”

Speaking of female characters in The Outsiders, what do you all think their clothing styles and personality would be like? Characters we’ve read about or watched in the movie, what kind of depth do you think their characters have? I’ll try to give an idea of what I think. I also will say I don’t like a decent percent of the female characters bc of things they’ve been described to have done. Although Angela is the MVP we love her. @nexternalknowsthingz @thatonetotaldramaguy weigh in on this in curious.
Cherry: A girl a really tries to please both sides, can come off as arrogant and selfish but is forced to go along with what she is told (Socs forcing her to treat Greacers like trash). She although has a fiery side to her and has a big belief in her moral values (stuck up for Ponyboy at the drive in) she’s not perfect but I think she definitely tries and has good heart. 6/10 (God I hate her a lot though 😭)
Clothes:
Marcia: A genuine girl, shes very shy and polite. She can be sassy but also classy. Definitely also defends her friends like Cherry and is a real girls girl. Definitely also keeps out of trouble, she doesn’t trash Greasers but can believe some can be erratic or spontaneous into doing bad behavior. Doesn’t condone it but doesn’t make you feel bad for it. 8/10
Clothes:
Beverly: Now, forgive on this, but haven’t seen the musical so I don’t her personality at all. But she seems like she would take no shit. Think of Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls. Very demure, very mindful, but will bust you right up side the head if she thinks you acting up. I can also see her being a bit of a toxic friend who uses people as stepping stones. 3/10
Clothes:
Evie: Steve’s gf. Not much is told about her in both the in the book and movie but let’s be real, she’s dating Steve. (I personally ship Soda and Steve but if we’re going cannon…) I definitely she a loving girl but someone who can PARTYYYY! A friend who would give the most amazing advice, definitely the girl who like knows what you like before you telling her, example:
Evie: “What you want to eat?”
Friend: “Idk I’ve never ate here before.”
Evie: “I bet you’d like (random food and drink combo)
You order it and you fucking love it. She understands ur taste. 10/10
Clothes:
Sylvia: Oooo hold me back I’m gonna beat this girl up. Similar to Beverly but way more toxic and isn’t afraid to show. Bev would work behind backs and in the shadows, but Sylvia would just be a brat and absolutely bitch to your face. She wants to demolish your self esteem. Katy Perry’s song Hot and Cold (idk I don’t listen to Katy Perry lol could be the wrong song name). Like one minute she could be super sweet but then tear you down the next. Constantly keeps you on your toes and gaslights you till you cook
S/O (Prob past Dallas): “Hey I’m leaving to hang out with my friends.”
Sylvia: “You never talked about them, who are they? Where are you going?”
S/O: “I talked about hanging out with them this morning.”
Sylvia: “No you didn’t, stop lying. Maybe you should get your brain checked because you’ve mentioned them before. Are you gonna go cheat on me with them?” Etc. Not a good time, -10/10
Clothes:
Sandy: Well, she’s not good either. Definitely a little spoiled. Would def manipulate Soda into believing he was a bad bf bc he didn’t do one really small thing for her like pull her chair out in a restaurant for her. Miss literally cheated, got pregnant and left Soda. (Or Soda got her pregnant? Can’t remember lol) But I feel overall she’s very bratty and not fun to be around. 3/10
Clothes:
Angela: This bitch! WE LOVE HER!!!!!!!! Comes in clutch. Someone talking shit about someone she loves, smack to the face. Don’t like the way ur acting, ear gets pulled. She wouldn’t do this unprovoked either, like she would need good reasons. Def a lover to her friends and a fighter to her enemies. I also believe that she’s into exercise or weight lifting. Honestly in my opinion def the energetic on steroids version of Evie. 1000/10

I need to hear about WLW Marbit plssss
OKAY IM AWAKE NOW.
So last night me and some mutuals were yapping up a storm because someone had mentioned how a highschool production had a female two-bit and how marbit went crazy and since we all know I'm literally insane over wlw marbit we started yapping.
I fear I wrote SO much but I hope yall enjoy this because it's just me yapping and probably doesn't make sense.
So I believe @girlishwhimsies had mentioned soft butch two-bit x fem marcia and I fear I have NOT stopped thinking about it. Like godddd imagine all the events that happened.
Like Marcia a girl who has dated a lot of guys just praying to feel some sort of feeling back first talking to two-bit who is by far the coolest fucking girl she's ever seen and realizing something was different about this girl. Marcia who had learned very quickly in life that things were very "black and white" and there are rules she has to follow to stay with her collective group. Despite knowing that she still give this girl her number in hopes of... something.
Then Bob dies and her focus turns to Cherry and her boyfriend who's she's always just convinced herself she's liked him even though he sort of treats her like shit.
Two-Bit who the jokester still in her group full of boys and just having a blast is so silly to me. She's still a amazing fighter who's just pretty much doing whatever she wants without a care in the world. Her constantly getting in trouble at school for wearing pants and shorts at school. Two who stayed behind in order to watch over Johnny and ponyboy is actually so important to me (I believe @brunetteairhead said this at some point ‼️).
Two-Bit who has always seemed so brave and strong literally falling all over the place because of some soc girl who is prettier than anyone she's ever seen at the drive-in. She like tripping over herself trying to impress marcia because she's never met a soc girl like her before. She's quick-witted and confident and that takes two by surprise. And getting Marcia’s number was the highlight of her night. While walking home doubt settling and making her decide to toss the number assuming it was fake makes me so sick.
Then Johnny and pony run away and everything goes down from there. She see Marcia once in the week their two youngest are gone and it's at the police station. Marcia doesn't see her but two spots her almost immediately. Marcia is just staring off into space and the bag underneath her eyes are dark. Two was leaving after being questioned so they never got to talk again.
Then later that week two gets jumped. Marcia standing there with her back turned hurt her for more than any kick or punch she got from the socs pinning her down. Long after her torment two wasn't sure what she was going to do, she could barely walk let alone all the way to the curtis residence and that's when she sees someone coming towards her. Marcia coming back and helping Two and two finds herself in Marcia's house holding her side because it hurts like a bitch but she can't believe she's in Marcias house. The two of them practically losing it because they both sense there's something there but both know they can't act on it because Marcia still has a boyfriend and two still worried about her friends. (Marcia breaks things off with trip after this because she doesn't want to be with someone who thinks its okay to hurt others .)
Them meeting eachother after a few months post book and both of them just kicking their feet n shit because they are SO down right bad. Two-bit yapping to soda about marcia knowing she likes her so bad and Marcia yapping to Cherry about how two isn't like any boy she's ever met and how she really wants their friendship to be good and Cherry hesitantly pointing out how she thinks Marcia might want more than that and marcia freaking out because she knows that it's wrong to want to see herself with this girl. A girl who seems so impossibly strong and a girl who just seemed to understand her better than anyone she's ever known. She knows it's wrong but she can't find it in herself to care. She denys her feelings for awhile because she doesn't want to ruin everything she's worked so hard to build.
The two of them hanging out more and more until eventually they are hanging out at Marcias and two is allowing Marcia to paint her nails despite not necessarily caring too much about like having her nails being done etc but she can't find it in herself to say no to Marcia whenever she makes that face that looks like a puppy who just got kicked so she always agrees. Anyways the two of them are laughing and joking and Marcia like brushes a curl out of two-bit face and the both of them sort of freeze because they are so close together. Two-bit shockingly makes the first move and kisses Marcia (ofc with a bit of hesitation but Marcia meets her halfway) and the both of them just pull away both shocked that they just kissed.
Marcia in that moment does panic for a moment before realizing that she liked the kiss and that no kiss that she's ever shared with a boy ever felt like that. Part of her couldn't find it in her to care that this was "wrong." It felt right and she wanted more, she wanted to sit here and be happy with two.
Meanwhile two is panicking so bad because Marcia is just sitting there with this shocked expression and two-bit is frantically apologizing and trying so hard not to scream or cry she doesn't know herself bit then Marcia takes two-bits hands and tells her that it's alright and that she liked it which catches two completely off guard.
"Wait you did?"
"..yeah"
Anyways after that fact they just sort of just do not talk about it for the rest of the night because the both of them have no clue how to go about talking about what they are so they just wrap up their hangout and go about their week. Two-bit absolutely losing it the next day to soda and is practically screaming over how the kiss was and how she doesn't know what to do and marcia reluctantly yapping to cherry and cherry fully saying "I told you so" and marcia just going crazy because she wants to hold Two-bits hand and she wants to be able to kiss her again but not knowing if Two-Bit wants the same(she does) and they are just complete messes I fear.
ANYWAYS once they start dating they have sleep overs all the time. Two-bit will go to the curtis house and they immediately know she was at Marcias because her nails will be all nice and pretty and her hair will be all nicely braided and she is giving them the look of 'don't you dare talk about it'. Soda totally makes fun of her for it and they almost always end up fighting on the ground.
Anyways I have no clue if any of that makes sense but they've truly taken over my life I fear.

more cherrycola hcs bc i saw them get mentioned like once and got activated like a sleeper agent
- they’re literally penny and johnny castle from dirty dancing during the first dance scene at the hotel. they can absolutely tear UP the floor. doesn’t matter if they’re going solo or partners, everyone might as well go home if they pull up to the function, they’ll dance like nobody’s watching
- when soda wants a kiss he’ll ask cherry what kind of lip gloss she has on, and because he’s a man of follow through he’ll actually guess what flavor
- cherry lovessss going over to the curtis house. compared to hers and her friends’, it’s the warmest place she’s ever been. she notices the way every floorboard, every wooden picture frame, every blanket draped over the couch is worn down with love, and she gets along really well with pony obviously
- meeting darry as soda’s gf was kind of awkward. the last time cherry saw him, he was high-strung, pressed down by anxiety, and the most emotional he’s ever been in his life. so meeting him on a regular day, she was a little startled to find that he really was as intimidating as pony described
- (she has no idea about the actual history between him and paul, so she doesn’t understand that darry’s wariness stems from fear of seeing soda hurt like he was and not hatred of cherry’s soc status)
- as good as cherry looks in pink, soda is head over heels seeing her in a forest green dress for the first time. he’s stumbling over his words, blushing hard, just so in love with her
- RODEO DATES‼️ cherry brings marcia so they can barrel race together and soda brings two-bit and they are the biggest hype men. they’re dripped out in cowboy hats and ringing cowbells and cheering for their gfs. soda sees cherry covered in dirt and mud with her hair up and he’s down bad
- bc coffee makes his adhd brain sleepy, he drinks it to mellow out while watching movies at the drive-in with cherry. she thinks it’s the cutest thing in the world when he falls asleep on her halfway thru a film. she’s just glad he came with bc she knows movies aren’t really his thing
- when her stingray needs a repair cherry is BEGGING her parents to let her take it to the dx on the east side and they look at her like she’s crazy, my girl ain’t subtle. but like who wouldn’t want to see their bf with mussed hair and oil spatters on his face leaning over the popped hood of a car, working those muscles to fix it. cherry’s got priorities alr

Cherry goes to work & Soda brings kat to the DX with Two-Bit. Give me all the imagines. Would socs come by and tease them?? What would the other customers think about a teen dad actually taking care of their baby (especially in the 60s) ?? i MUST know these things🫣🫣
I THINK ABT THIS CHRONICALLY
no caide like soda would rather die than spend time away from kat bro loves his kid so bad lmfao, he’d be so excited 🥺 two-bit ofc is ecstatic cause he wants to goof off with kat and be the silly goofy uncle he was absolutely destined to be. honestly i think the socs would judge but more be like confused almost? in greaser culture it’s like pretty common for a dad or a mom to up and leave but with socs the family normally stays and the dad leaves for work and never really connects to the kids, so they’d be SHOCKED that a dad is caring for his baby and being that excited and happy with her. the costumers would be along the same lines of like huh this is NOT normal and expected. but also kat is such a charming cute baby who could not love her!!! kitkat curtis my love, you just know two-bit would be joking with her and soda it’s adorable to meeeeee. btw two-bit makes sure marcia sees how good he is with kat cause he heard in a magazine that girls like men who are good with babies and he wants to impress her 😭

I read (half of) chapter 2 last night and realized a few things
The Socs have their own bars. Rusty’s and somewhere else (can’t remember the name) while the Greasers have The Dingo and Jay’s. Pony said The Dingo is SUPER rough and “a girl got shot once”. Pony seems to be very observant as well when he says that “Cherry didn’t take Dallas’ Coke and said she wouldn’t drink it if she was dying of starvation in the desert, and she meant it. It was the principle of the thing.” meanwhile “Marcia didn’t see a reason to throw away a perfectly good Coke”. Kinda shows he’s observant and whatnot. He also said when Dally started in on Cherry he “always knew how to talk dirty” and whatnot. He said Two Bit or Steve or even Soda would’ve joined in. He said he felt embarrassed when Dallas did it “I felt my ears get hot” and he said himself that doing that to a girl “just doesn’t appeal to him”. Meaning he would likely not really participate in stuff like this, although he and Johnny did blow straw wrappers at waitresses and “eyed some of the things in the drugstore until the manager said it was best if they left”. He also said Johnny VERY hastily left when Dally started in. Pony said he himself might’ve “even helped old Dallas had they been greasy girls”.
Another thing was Two Bit-Pony said Two tended to be forgetful (at least with Johnny and his being jumped by the Socs because he came down and roughed both Johnny and Pony up by pretending to be a Soc and merely ruffled Johnny’s hair and told him he forgot. It’s also hard to tell when Two is sober or not because he acts the same regardless. Also Johnny being sassy “Aw cut it out! They asked us to come up here an’ protect them from wisecrackin’ greasers like you!” and Pony saying it “wasn’t often Johnny got sassy, the gang thought they were doing good if they got him to talk at all”. Also Marcia being like “I’m a night” and Two just being “you dig real good baby” ugh-love that.
I’ll add on when I finish the chapter lol

Let's Talk about Soda and Cherry As Foils
It's pretty widely known and accepted that Bob and Randy are foils to Soda and Steve, almost the soc version of them, something Hinton even named in her book. However, I think BECAUSE she named this foiling people overlook another pair of narrative foils who are a little harder to notice but ultimately very interesting to analyze. This may ruffle some feathers, but I'm talking about how Bob and Cherry's relationship foils Soda and Sandy's. Cherry and Sandy are narratively as different as they could possibly be. Cherry is the queen of socs, a cheerleader, at the top of the social totem pole, whereas Sandy is pretty enough and 'sweet' but still a loud and brash greaser girl, with very little social status. That said, both girls managed to pull boys who are viewed highly by their peers in their own respective circles, Bob who was 'charming and funny' and well liked by socs, and Soda who was 'handsome enough even soc girls went after him'. HOWEVER, in my opinion, this is a very surface level view of these characters relationships foiling one another- and that's because I don't truly think Chery and Sandy foil each other, or that Bob and Soda do. If we're looking at foiling through the lense of both problematic romances, which both end badly (albeit in different ways) I actually think that Cherry and SODA foil each other the best. They both fell for problematic people, but Soda was too blind to see it, and Cherry willing to ignore it. They're both very clearly upset when their relationships end, but Cherry develops through the story to the point where it's questionable she would have stayed with Bob had he survived, whereas Soda admits he was willing to stay with Sandy and marry her even though she cheated and was having another man's baby. Now, having looked at Chery and Soda as foils, we now need to look at Sandy and Bob as foils. This is difficult, as neither character gets a lot of 'screen time', but narratively speaking, they're not that different. Both were good looking, known for being charismatic, but they both clearly had a dark side, something neither of them are shown to ever have had much remorse about. We know that Bob 'was always waiting for someone to tell him no', and I think to some extent the same could be said of Sandy. I don't want to impose TOOO much speculation into what's supposed to be a cut and dry character analysis, but in my experience cheaters often want the next, shiny new person, when they get bored/feel a lack of attention from their new partner, and I think that's what happened to her when the Curtis parents died and Soda had less time to shower her with attention/love. One COULD argue that Sandy also has the INVERSE of Bob's problem, in that she's spent her whole life being told no and not having enough, so that when she has a surplus of boys who are after her, the first time she's had "too much" of anything, she takes what she wants from all of them, however, I think that interpretation comes with it's own set of problems. Either way you look at it, Bob and Sandy both end up being wolves in sheep's clothing, albeit in different ways, and Cherry and Soda end up being the idiots who fell in love with them, and ended up breaking their own hearts in the process but also learning from these failed relationship experiences.
But yeah. Just some Thursday night thoughts.

saw the outsiders night of 10/12/24 & here are my thoughts!!
josh strobl on for pony, andre on for steve, ryo on for brill, henry on for chet
before the show my friend and i were waiting in line outside the theater and daryl peeked his head out the window above us and waved to the crowd but very few people noticed and then jason peeked his head out and we were the first people who saw him and we waved and then he waved back at us specifically!!!
josh strobl & his beautiful little broadway voice - his voice is so different from brody’s and trevor’s and it was so cool to hear the songs delivered in kind of a different way!!
josh strobl is so short omfg every conversation pony had with darry was like. yes obviously that’s a big brother and his little brother one of them is literally a head taller than the other.
him being so short was also very good for the fourteen-year-old vibe!! i always talk about trevor being so fourteen in his portrayal of ponyboy and josh was also fantastic in that regard!
melody & ryo were Thee cutest couple in the world in the background of tulsa ‘67 and the drive-in omgggg
moment where johnny cleans up pony’s face with his little rag in early act i is always a win for me personally
DARYL TOFA THE MAN THAT YOU ARE <3 literally the main reason i decided to see the show again was because i didn’t see daryl or sky last time and they did not fucking disappoint!!!
some very soft soda pony moments on the car before great expectations - there was a moment where soda put his arm over pony’s shoulder and said “signing off now, okay?” in the softest voice i think i audibly went “aww” <3 <3 <3
emma cherry josh pony height difference save me. holy shit. played in so well to the sixteen year old girl/little fourteen year old boy dynamic and like. ugh something about him looking up to her is so precious to me
two-bit calling bob “robert” will always be famous, as will “eat shit, marcia!” lmfao
ponyboy’s “out. in the world.” is so fucking funny he’s such a little shit
lighting and sound for when darry hit ponyboy my beloved
josh spit on kwp so bad during the fountain scene that some of it ricocheted off back onto his own face lmfaooo
there is a moment during run run brother where pony and johnny are running across the stage and they pause at center with like their hands on each other’s shoulders and make beautiful eye contact before they keep running <3 <3 <3
moment during justice for tulsa where cherry is sitting on the tire with bob’s varsity jacket on her shoulders and from behind her marcia very gently gathers her hair and puts it over her shoulder and then she has her hand on cherry’s shoulder for a little bit <3
emma opt up on “out looking for a fight” you will always be famous
cherry holding her hand out for marcia in jft got me holy shit
two-bit getting jumped in jft fuckin hits different when ryo is playing a soc holy shit it is so narratively fascinating for one of the only two asian characters in the show to be beating the shit out of the other one. please god someone talk to me about this in a ryo paul context
sky-josh moment after death’s at my door was PERFECT- sky held out his hand for the knife and held josh’s hand when he handed it over and then put his other hand very gently on josh’s shoulder until the lights went down
sky’s “you like her :)” about cherry was fucking precious
ponyboy watching darry on the final “ponyboy this house ain’t a home without you” …holy fucking shit
there is a moment during hoods turned heroes i think where darry picks ace up and it is very cute <3 she is also on his shoulders at one point which is adorable
when two-bit hands darry the newspaper in hoods turned heroes he starts smiling for thee rest of the song because he is so proud of his baby brother 💕💕💕
there is also a little bit in hoods turned heroes where darry very playfully hits soda with the newspaper it is very cute <3
i completely forgot that emma pittman belts hopeless war kneeling on the floor?? holy fuck
paul and darry first ones who enter before the rumble both in white t shirts that’s what i call a visual parallel baby!!!!
when darry said “once a grease always a grease” soda went “yaaayy!” it made me laugh out loud. overall jason was very silly tonight it was very charming <3
soda hugging pony from behind during little brother holy fuck. josh is like on the ground after johnny dies and jason comes up behind him and just holds him <3 <3 <3 im so ill about them
josh did the “does anybody care?” in little brother very similarly to how daryl does it and i do not remember him doing that the first time i saw it!
with where he was sitting on the set josh looked like a little kid on the playground during dally’s death it was fucking heartbreaking
had a borderline religious experience watching sky sing stay gold live. i have known a love that many never know btw. if u even care.
soda’s little “ok” after ponyboy says “there’s a lot more inside me than just grease” was so fucking cute
andre, jason, josh, ryo, melody, kwp, tilly, emma & henry came out to stagedoor after the show!!

there’s tends to be a trio in the show right? examples include: pony, dally, and johnny / trip, chet, and bob (and paul but he’s a hag and doesn’t count rn) / marcia, cherry, and bev / pony, darry, and soda ofc
i’m thinking that anna!bev, paul and darry were a trio when they were all school. like paul and darry are in the same grade but bev’s maybe a grade below. paul and darry were always attached but they met bev when bob first started dating cherry and in those beginning stages she was always around her girls.
darry’s still kind of finding his footing with all these socs but he’s gotten pretty good at hiding his feelings like the rest of them. but when he first meets bev the soc he can’t help but feel protective. because way back when he a kid, before ponyboy was even a thought, he could remember his mom babysitting a tiny little girl with brown hair. he wasn’t sure at first but when she introduces herself as beverly bush there’s a look in her eyes. a look that reminds darry of himself when he first started hanging out with the socs, a look that begged darry not to say anything about how she use to being a greaser. darry’s simply shakes her hand and says how nice it is too meet her and he wants to say more, wants to pull her aside and ask tons of questions, but the way her previously put upon smile lights up darry decides it doesn’t really matter. not right now
they mean sm to me your honor
i got distracted but! thinking about paul who’s been tasked by his parents to watch out for the younger socs one night bc there’s some big party or something (idk bare with me) so he’s driving around the west side neighborhoods and darry came along for the shits and giggles. and while driving through one street they see bev smoking outside a houseparty. the first thing they notice is she looks pissed and as the elder brothers they are they can’t help but immediately swarm her asking what’s the matter and what they can do to help (nvm that they’ve only known her for like a week. cherry likes her and bob likes cherry so by default they like bev too).
anyways they’re so busy trying to be knights in shining armor they don’t realize bev alrdy had it whatever was bothering her handled until some drunk rando from their jv basketball comes out and she decks the absolute shit out of them. and i think this is when paul decides he likes beverly and wants to keep her (what can i say this is a man who likes projects) and darry remembers that oh yeah, she does come from a grease background, of course she can take care of herself.
and i think they invite her to hang out with them all the time. darry and bev are closer ofc; once bev realizes that he really isn’t about to go snitching she lets loose and he becomes her personal diary. it’s the same thing for darry too. for him it’s relieving to see that his hopes of lifting himself out of “greaser status” isn’t just a stupid dream, even if bev did get out a little different than he would.
i think if i squint hard enough i could even compare their relationship to claudia and louis from interview with the vampire with paul as lestat.

@wassupmygays heres my fav moments from the trailer for the outsiders (these are almost all gonna be from the drive in but thats ok)
-the way Marcia's grinning at Two-Bit as he starts to dance
-in that same clip ace skids over and makes cherry get out of her way
-Bev is also really grinning at the greasers in this clip
-the clip of the opening when the soc boys swing onstage and Sean is doing it using only one arm
-everyone looks kinda confused when Steve is doing that move where he's going into a sort of body roll on the ground? idk how to describe the dance move, but everyones faces are so funny
-you can see bev coming down from the platform on the stage at the top of the drive in, and i didn't remember that was he entrance!
-when marcia and cherry are talking to ponyboy and johnny trip is on the car with paul, but nowadays he leaves during that part and when he enters he argues with marcia
-when darry is yelling at soda ponys face is so silly hes fr like 😐
-when ace is pushing bob off the tire cherrys on the tire with him
-in that same clip trip and dally are having a thing and Marcia pushes through them to walk right towards two bit!!! this girl is on a mission and its so obvious (and im not exaggerating here, thats actually what she's doing)
-trip has his arm around marcia in line for the concession stand and Paul doesn't look happy about it
-in that clip I can't tell if Marcia is looking at cherry or two bit
-two bit, ace, and brill are all talking at the concessions stand lol
-Paul pushes past ponyboy in the opening and i never noticed?
-also bev goes up on the platform in the opening to talk to cherry
-bob doesnt seem happy about it lol
-bev and marcia cheering when brill jumps over steve
-paul staring at marcia while she dances with trip
-that moment when two bit is facing off with chet and is being held back???? which to my knowledge never happens in the show??? its definetly not during the drive in cuz sodas there, but maybe in the opening number? it could also just be something they filmed for b roll
I might be late to class thanks to this lmao but it was worth it
