Lily leaving Mary not because she doesn't love her anymore but because she'd never truly seen herself making it out of the war

She settles for someone simple and easy because she doesn't think she could bare to imagine Mary having to wake up one day without her being in their shared home. She doesn't want Mary to live with the pain of losing her so she tries to soften it by going back to being friends. As if it would make it any easier.

Unfortunately that choice is the one that gets her killed in the end. Maybe if she'd have stayed she would have made it out.

It was girl's night out and the legal girls of (R)WBY with assistance of Nora and Coco dragged Pyrrha out to celebrate her recent announcement of going steady with Joan(Jaune) Arc the Blond Angel of Beacon.

Coco : Pshsh... like anyone could see past my fashionable defense of your identity!

Pyrrha : But...

Yang: Enough P-Money. This is a celebration!

The group of young women entered the establishment... a less than reputable establishment, that was boasting "Ladies Night" In the dimly lit building the group grabbed a table and started to order drinks, as in the background scantily clad women danced on the stage.

Pyrrha : I shouldn't...

Announcer: Ladies! Earthly Delights is proud to present...

Coco : Oh... fanfare!

Yang: Heard their headliner was a pure sex appeal dish.

Announcer: the Fallen Angel!!!

Weiss / Pyrrha / Coco / Blake / Yang: JOAN(Jaune)!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Nora: WHOOOO!!! Shake you money maker!!

Then the music started up...

Weiss / Pyrrha / Coco / Blake / Yang / Nora : DIBS!!!

The group all looked at each other...

Joan(Jaune): Seriously? Seriously guys?

Weiss / Pyrrha / Coco / Blake / Yang / Nora : Sorry!!!

Joan(Jaune): You're ALL going to pay me back for posting bail.

Joan(Jaune) gives them all a disapproving and withering look, very much akin to Professor Goodwitch's trademark glare.

Joan(Jaune): And I mean ALL!

as always, when i draw something and post it this far ahead (this is volume 2), i'm always going to leave out some spoilers. consider this a heavily idealized/romanticized memory of a series canon scene. one guess for whose memory it is. when we get to this point in v2, i will happily reveal the spot the difference answers between this and the written scene. maybe i'll comm someone to draw an accurate redo of it...

anyways! i'm very happy with this piece :3 it revived all my ssvau brainworms that had taken a hit because of Life and also reset my 'if i don't get to this scene chronologically i will perish' goalpost as well! because the first bite was a major milestone. this is the next milestone. and i, for one, cannot wait! ヾ(•ω•`)o

On one hand, I feel horribly guilty for having a couple weekends where I've committed to absolutely nothing to the point of backing out of volunteering at a local dog show.

On the other hand, I have dog sport events literally every weekend and practice or class at least twice a week throughout the entirety of October and November. I think I get a free pass for a couple weekends.

Once again referencing that Shu is the light and Mika the shadow, the sun and the moon, but also note how the sun character is the more "femme" presenting one i.e. presenting us with the dress side of the costume or just wearing a dress altogether. Shu also mirrors this, thereby proving that he plays the "female part" in their performances. I really hope the climax discusses gender more because I find it really fun that Happyele chose for a dynamic where the lead is the femme part with a supporting male role. Their dynamic, not only in this performance but also in general, is like Orpheus and Eurydice but with the roles reversed (and hopefully without the tragic ending...)

Nora rushed in carrying an bubble envelop.

Pyrrha: Nora?

Nora: You got a letter...

Before Pyrrha could react, Nora snatched the cd and rushed to the common room, disturbing the teams of RWBY and CFVY, from their idle chatter, and commandeering the tv. Shutting of the dust documentary Weiss was watching

Weiss: Hey! I was watching that!

Nora: This is MORE important! Joan sent Pyrrha a cd!

Without delay as Pyrrha finally reached the common room, Nora to put the cd into the aged player.

The video started up with a small voice over by Joan...

Joan: I know I've been gone a little too long, Pyr... so I thought I'd send you something to... to let you know...

Pyrrha: Let me know? Know what...

The room fell quite as the video suddenly open with picture footage. Even one was awe struck as they watched the Angel of Beacon moving with seamless motion to the music. No one said a word, nor moved for the entire duration. Slowly the video faded out...

Joan: Miss you. Well I miss everyone... but you MOST of all.

Pyrrha: Joan... misses me the most?

Joan: So... um... when I get back... I want to tell you something... IMPORTANT!

The entire room remained quiet, as they watched Pyrrha starting to unravel. Tears started to form in her eyes, and before she could react... the entirety of team RWBY, along with Nora, Coco and Velvet surrounded her and buried her in a hug.

Pyrrha: Does she... does she...

Nora: I think she does, Pyr-Pyr.

Ruby: No... I KNOW she does.

we need to talk about chikaru's low self-esteem now. this is not something she has just because of a mistake; this is deep rooted in her. when she couldn't act on time and it cost a life, that made her self worth even worse than it was before.

the fact that she can't seem to even acknowledge her own skill hurts. all the girls in hervarar trust her and know they can believe in her support; but she still views herself as weak. as someone not worth it. maybe the next part of the event will say i am wrong, maybe not — but it's clear here that she is still struggling with what she needs to do.

see why i said that? yeah...

she needs therapy, now.

wondering if koga or adonis are going to get some more character development or like Not Really, because. koga's got his stuff in the ! era, which, fine! new players have absolutely no idea what happened and how important his current dynamic with rei is, it's cool, hurts only a little bit!, meanwhile adonis is still... trapped in his unfortunate character trope... that i doubt he'll ever break out of.

i'm not expecting either of them to do a complete 180 obv, but i do actually want to see koga figure himself out as, how to put it, an individual musician with his own style*? and if i have to read about how adonis is big scary huge and terrifying** at first glance, but actually, wow! what a surprise! kind, quiet and gentle once you talk to him even ONE more time, i'm going to snap.

*i'm just kinda biting my hands here because there are bighuge neons in my brain pointing out that koga's path should have him as a some sorta representative of undead ? temporary leader perhaps? considering everything we've learned in crossroads AND the fact that he mentions in his initial story how he's the least popular/known member and he wants to change it On Top Of wanting to face rei as equals, like. augh. put him in a situation please

basically both of them could use some activities separate from 2mkb, whether as a duo or individually, or perhaps as leaders of their respective shuffle units, but considering the next ud event is rei and shuffles probably won't return until after the climax series is over... it's Gonna Take A While I Think
