season 16 would be one of the best seasons of the show if a huge chunk of it didn’t suck so much, if that makes any sense
because the rest is *so good*, like So Good. but to get to it you have to face the horrors

shisno paradox donut deserves the world. I wasn’t the biggest fan of these time travel seasons but holy shit he was so good. he was angry! he deserved to be way more mad than he actually was. he is so, so important to me and the way he reacts to everything. i hope he stays like this

"Hey man we need some fight music for s17 of red vs blue when carolina is fighting herself"
and then levy went and wrote one of the best pieces of action music i've ever heard like it's just another fuckin tuesday
youtube
seriously the drop at 1:30 and the build at 2:30 as it flashes to the freelancer leaderboard, where it's only carolina with the rest of the spots blank and flickering (all flickering, except for Wash's spot!) is just. it's sublime

Tuckington/Chucker girlies want what Tucksis girlies have (for Tucker to actually be canonically attracted to the other person)

Genkins stole O'Malley's master plan and didn't have to be the villain. O'Malley was right there! You cannot change my mind.

i’m gonna throw up, church has been running simulations over and over to prepare them for what really comes when those doors open and i’m sick thinking about how much he cares for them and how desperate he is. all this to say, there’s a part of me that is immensely happy everything past s13 was retconned.
i wake up and redvsblue is getting a new season but it’s officially the final season and it’s written by burnie and i feel like i’m back in 2012 where everything was okay and i trust him so much with this

might be getting back to the RvB rewatch grind this weekend. I've earned an AA and a BA in the time since I last watched the shisno trilogy all the way through, and remember hardly Anything about it besides the truly important stuff. (grimmons knife, doc's sister EDIT: brother. his brother. god it’s been so long. grif siblings moments, wash's Ordeal, donut genuinely suffering more than christ. locus. y'know, the important stuff.)
now that i'm thinking about it, I don't think i've Ever fully rewatched season 17. i'm not certain i've rewatched 16 either, but. I think I had a reason for that LOL
that's kind of crazy, actually.

I'd still say the whole series (not counting Zero) is absolutely worth the watch, I think season 16 and 17 are very very enjoyable, albeit with some flaws especially regarding characterization but also having a show go over the course of 20 years and switching writers like 4 times at least will do that to you. They're absolutely really funny on their own merits though, and I'd still definitely recommend it, and still call them very enjoyable! Just that you have to stomach season 15 to even get there, and then have to deal with 16 and 17s flaws, which I personally was able to get past but I know not everyone is and that's cool, but I think every arc just has their own flaws, so it's a real pick your poison situation. I know some people that consider season 10 the ending, some people consider season 13 the ending, some people even consider season 5 the ending (I don't agree with that one at all but I get it, it marks the end of classic RvB.) I personally think that the Shisno paradox is worth it. That it has some great moments of growth and characterization and even some really emotional moments, and one of my favorite action sequences of the whole series, as well as quotes that, to me, stand out as jokes that feel like they were ripped right out of seasons 3-4 in the best way, just with the absurdity cranked up a bit (but yet again that's what two decades of an ongoing comedy does to you)
on a red vs blue rewatch, I rarely go back to season 1 because of the quality but a line stuck out to me that's so good
"16 days??!! That's almost two weeks!!"
never change, Tucker

Not to be a negative little shit during our final hours but I gotta write my feelings out: after reading the leaked scripts I finally figured out what I hate about the shisno paradox writing (aside from the obvious stuff). There's basically no subtlety in anything, any time there's a chance for the audience to interpret a character's behavior themselves they need some third party to walk in and explain the moral like a PBS cartoon. They can't let a character's actions speak for themselves they have to treat the viewer like they're 5 and haven't been watching the same show for decades (which previously WAS able to show and not tell) the audience for this show is adults with characters that are also adults yet they can't seem to grasp that adult audiences can comprehend mature topics. It's so grating.
