Mage's Ball

Just a little blurb I did for @occudo 's fantasy AU thing. My writing isn't like... flowery or anything, but it at least put down the start of a brainworm THIS comic gave me. There's more to it but like. I'm really bad at being able to continue/finish fics (I do better at RP) so this is what you get.

It was the middle of the ball, and Tim had been left on his own. By choice, mind you, but he still wasn’t particularly happy about it. Sir Timothy Stoker, knight to Mage Sasha James, had come along to keep an eye on his charge and perhaps… well. He didn’t entirely know what he was expecting, but it wasn’t this. Sasha focused on… Jonathan Sims and his knight, Martin Blackwood. Focused, and chatting so animated about their latest trials and tribulations in the aftermath of the Prentiss incident. Tim was not pleased, and therefore he was incredibly distracted. 

“A knight without his mage- that’s a rare sight. Did they abandon you?” A deep, smooth voice croons in on the knight from nearby.

“My lady can chat without my help.” Tim turns to see who was addressing him, only to find another Mage. “I don’t see a knight by your side either, Lord-” “Delano.” Gerry removed the sheer fabric that had been covering his head to better view this pouting guardian. 

Standing at attention, Tim reached for the mage’s hand to draw the back of it to his lips in greeting. “Sir Stoker. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” His eyes fell to the fabric at the mage’s waist, only for his eyes to be guided up to the bared skin of his chest. Lord Delano had a considerable amount of tattoos; eyes decorated his skin all the way up to the collar at his throat. 

“Likewise,” Gerry responds, smiling at the display. His eyes traced over the knight for possibly the sixth time this evening, having noticed him earlier in the evening. “I never felt the need to employ a bodyguard for myself- way too much work if you ask me.” Pale gaze lifting, it seems like his interest has yet to bring his eyes back up from his chest, and he sighs in amusement. “Also- my eyes are up here, Sir Stoker.”

“With all due respect, they are also down there, my lord.” Tim couldn’t help but find himself mesmerized by them, among… other things. This was a fancy ball and somehow Lord Delano managed to get away with having so much skin exposed. It was daring, it showed off his nature as a Seer Mage, and it was… well. Distracting. Very distracting. Finally, he manages to tear his eyes away from ink and look back up to the other man with a flush across his cheeks. “I think you’re the only one who got away with going casual,” he jokes with a smile. 

“Casual?” The response comes with laughter, Gerry lifting a hand to cover his smile briefly as he turns to glance around the room. He notices Stoker doing the same, and together they take in all the grandeur of the Winter Mage’s Ball. “That would mean some of those here are a bit over-dressed, wouldn’t you think?” The knight’s own lady was in quite a gown, and he watches with a smile as she laughs and converses with her two current companions. He catches the eye of the shorter mage over there, and enjoys the rather disgruntled look he gets out of it. “Want to get away from here for a little bit?” Tim had been distracted again, both to try and not openly ogle at Lord Delano again, but also because those three looked like they were having quite a good time. Over-dressed? His gaze manages to move away to fluffy dresses and gents looking so prim and proper. Plenty to look at, nothing to see. Hearing the laughter, he looked back at the trio just about when Gerry spoke up again. “E-Excuse me?!” Tim sputters, turning to stare at the taller man. Gerry offers him a smile, and then a hand. “My rented quarters aren’t too far, and it looks like she’s well entertained. There are guards posted everywhere and the room is full of mages. I think she is quite safe, and I’ll admit you have me feeling a little under-dressed.” Tim’s eyes are roaming again, but fortunately it was more than just at his chest. He watches the man sputter again, trying to find words for what he wanted, only to get a- “...give me a second, please. If you would?” Tim has to check in at least once, and that was probably the quickest shuffle he has made to Sasha’s side outside of danger. A quick conversation, with no small amount of glaring from Lord Sims, and Lord Delano gets gestured to. More conversation happens, and Lady James nods her head and offers the other Seer Mage a polite bow before returning to her conversation. Tim returned to Gerry’s side shortly after, offering him a bow of his own. “My services are yours for the evening, My Lord.”

“Well. I’m going to have to get you to say that a few more times while I have you, then,” Gerry muses. He beckons for Stoker to follow, turning to head for the exit doors that would lead them outside. “Come along, then, Sir Stoker.”

hello fandomstuck people, i have brainworms again and now roomy has siblings. i've had ideas for cy, sammy, and sig for a while but i wasn't sure whether to make them full on characters or have em be puppets due to how much the fandoms for these 4 overlap since they're made by the same creator. these designs are subject to change but i think i have a solid base for how i want these 4 to look.

classpect-wise, i know roomy's a prince of mind and that sammy's a seer of doom, cy would prolly be a blood player (not sure about her class tho?), and sig would be either time or void (again, not sure what his class would be)

i'll (hopefully) write more about these guys soon, and maybe get some more finalized designs for these guys as well

Sorry in advance for the sudden jumpscare in the Nexomon fanbase (or my dash rn), but I really needed to get this brainworm out of my head here:

The teaser for Nexomon 3 already came out a while ago, but I was giddy enough to know that the theme of old characters/concepts from the previous games returning is still going strong here. Especially with the importance of witches and seers from the Abyssals DLC; since they were supposed to help predict when the Abyssals will strike back and share knowledge on their behaviors and weaknesses to future generations...And now in a undisclosed amount of time, the bloodline was being destroyed until there's barely anything left.

Of course, it's not like the Abyssals picked them off, but something or someone that is completely unknown to the people of Aurelian/Aurelia(?) (and congrats on VEWO for finally making a region name) both past and present. And I know that it's way too early to speculate on who that might be, but given the current track record in bringing back old characters for some much-needed vengeance is a definite must for the series. You know...like Metta and Leah?

Major rant/theory dump below cause I have no way to explain this normally.

Metta's a obvious pick since, as far as Nexomon 1 is aware, he should be dead after his Omnicron revival stunt, but he's not. He wasn't in the Netherworld when the MC went through their Doom arc and revisited Omnicron's kids in their Nightmares, you only got to see his Nexomon form post-dlc, his real name only mentioned once, and he even has a joke headstone in Extinction playing with the idea that he might still be around somewhere in the world (so 1 million post-Ulzar and N1, 1 thousand-ish years old N:E + however long until N3 starts). I mean, Omnicron's kids are effectively immortal (and Solus too), so who's to say he's been playing the extremely long game in gaining the upper hand? They have a legitimate reason to take the reins as Omnicron's heir, after all, and he would've been incredibly pissed if he was completely overshadowed by his surprise niece/nephew instead of following a typical hierarchy.

As for Leah, it's a bit iffy on her part since she might've Digi-died before the MC battles Vaithe/Vados (and Malk mercing the entire program in a blaze of glory), but data can still be recovered, right? Like sure, 95% of the Micromon database was destroyed in Extinction from the Drakes (as mentioned by Amelie and Logan in the dlc), and only the Chaos Quartet were left over...But that's not the case. 29 Nexomon from N1 were somehow revived on Precursor Island (6 of them being Micromon related), yet there's no real answer on how that was possible. Not to mention the possible hint that Leah's the only one who can control all four Chaos 'mon, even with the possible upgrades, so it wouldn't be more of a coincidence that she comes back somehow to complete the set (and possibly be Metta's confidant/overseer since she definitely has the look, mask or no mask).

And circling back to the step up with Nexomon 3 being 3D like Pokemon Arceus or Breath of the Wild (crossing my fingers on it still being different from them), I'm kinda curious if they're going to show the Omnicron fam transform into their Nexomon forms, Solus and Omnisun included. It will definitely be a pain in the butt to animate, sure, but it also got me thinking about how Metta works with a human form since he's just a glass ball and a bunch of ribbons. I'm personally hammering in the idea that he just a bag of air in the shape of a human (minus the head for his main body) and possibly circulates element-based energy though it to fake it till he makes it (Fire for body heat, Mineral for "bones", Water for "blood", Wind for circulation, Electric/Nature for a passable heartbeat, and Normal...well, to look normal). And methinks that when he finally does the big reveal that it's not with a giant flash of light or a massive wave of energy, but it's slow and unnerving as his body just unravels apart. Skin slowly peeling away to show nothing underneath, ribbons pale white but the ends colored with attributes of long past, and the only thing physical about him is the glass sphere where his skull should be, just staring with chiseled-on eyes at his soon-to-be enemies...And then the real nightmare starts trying to fight something so small but so so powerful that will definitely put his siblings to shame. -Oh yeah, and Byeol. They definitely need to come back, but they're the one that does the flashy introductions and stuff. They have that kind of energy to me.

But if that isn't final boss material (or second to final), than I have no idea what is. Anyway, rant over. Thank you for your patience and stuff :)

i received this ask. a Month ago. you do not know how many rounds of revising this post got in my drafts and over the course of this month john (preemptive i believe in both john and june canon [with all the doomed timelines and aus and how homestuck is literally a narrative about narratives i literally cannot have only a singular headcanon about a character] AND i think they're coexisting. there's extreme angst potential in egbert gender fuckery in general. if you forced me to choose a single headcanon it's probably going to be for the epilogues meat timeline - i think here that john is already the ultself, he just doesn't notice yet. the universe divergence began at the retcon. i think his realization will come from his time in the meat universe dead in terezi's wallet, and specifically a fraymotif involving terezi's seer powers and june accessing the memories of her iterations through every timeline - if you've read a certain mspfa you'll know immediately what i'm reffering to) AS I WAS SAYING the egberts have firmly rooted themself in my brain as favorite homestuck kid for. all the reasons. yeah

on a more serious note a lot of my initial grievances about john (antagonizing his dad for seemingly no reason, apparently uncharacteristically flipping out on the 3 year trip, the final left-for-interpretation scene in act 7 where he embraces the post-scratch version of his dad etc.) gradually made sense to me afterwords

What's a headcanon you have for this character? - john forgets things a lot but remembers them some time later. jade gave him some of her colorful reminders on the yellow yard. john used them for a bit but stopped post-retcon (he isn't that frustrated with not remembering, he tells himself) 2. he plays the piano a lot on earth c. he only does so when no one else's around though 3. meat john thinks about the ghost vriska he met in the dreambubbles 4. he does not enjoy metaphysical contemplations, normally, but finds himself rather inextricable from them.

on some level we know he does care, but when it comes down it in both of their doomed game timelines, karkat is panicking and sobbing over his lost friends and frantically trying to fix things, while john is apathetically wandering around watching the world disintegrate around him. src

as bitterly ironic as it may seem, johnkat is about holding on in change - to memories, to people as they grow, to your friends who are no longer who you knew them to be, from the very beginning of the time shenanigans surrounding john and karkat's conversations to the infamous commander karkat scene

perhaps more in the spirit of the original question i like ROXYGEN too though not sure if flushed or pale all i'm sure of is that the way the epilogues did it was a clusterfuck (or maybe they've just both witnessed too many horrors? i don't know. first of all they should be both transfem though) but. maybe in an unwritten timeline they get to be truly free together. hopefully

I have Opinions about Clockwork (DPhantom); if you don’t want to know them, there’s a Read More, lol.

I have Opinions about Clockwork both as an individual, and as part of a duo (Rich History i.e. Vlad/CW is my biggest brainworm always).

My favorite completely self-indulgent headcanon is that CW isn’t like a normal ghost for two reasons, which are also related: 1) Because he is Old As BALLS, and 2) He is OABalls because he is not the ghost of a human; he is the ghost of a Faerie. A very old, very powerful group of Fae, referred to in my favorite urban fantasy books (October Daye series, by Seanan Mcguire, BIG recommend) as the Firstborn. They’re the sons and daughters of the three rulers of Faerie: Oberon, and his queens Titania and Maeve. Each of the Firstborn have unique abilities which in some way serve Faerie, and CW (or as he was born, “Aeon”) has his ability to see and manipulate the Time Stream. This makes him one of a very small and very rare subset of Fae who fall under the category of Seers, all—or nearly (*spoilers for the October Daye series)—descendants from Queen Maeve’s line.

CW is also unique in that, unlike a normal ghost, he didn’t *exactly* die. As a younger man, he travelled to the Fae realm known then as Emeralkeen—later to become the Ghost Zone!—in response to a vision, which told him that realm was where he needed to be to focus and mature his power. Emeralkeen felt like it was created for him, from the moment he set foot there; his abilities had never been so amplified anywhere else in the realms.

In time, a series of events (featuring, in part, two subsequent tyrants in the position of Ghost King) culminated in the poisoning and breaking down of the land. Emeralkeen was dying, and with his by-then deeply rooted connection to its magic, so was Aeon. As the land sickened, he weakened physically, even as his power over the Time Stream grew. Eventually, the sickness “killed” him, but the power he already possessed wouldn’t let him die completely. He revived as the ghostly being whom many called “Clockwork,” becoming a sort of “halfa” in his own right which would precede Vlad Masters and Danny Fenton by several hundred years.

I have LOTS of fun headcanons wrapped up in this backstory (including CW’s varied relationships with his siblings, the other Firstborn, as well as their descendants), but I wanted to get down the basics for my own purposes, and anyone who might be interested.

As to my OTP: I have a shit-ton of Vlad headcanons too, but they mostly involve his personality and behaviors, and how he Got Like That. In regards to CW, I picture most universes/timelines would have them start off in, at minimum, a somewhat antagonistic place, and the crux of their dislike and mistrust for each other would usually be Danny. CW wants Danny to succeed, and in some universes/timelines actually cares deeply for the boy, so Vlad’s attempted harm and manipulation would piss him off. Vlad meanwhile covets the power CW wields to traverse and alter Time, and also resents his interference where Danny is concerned. He also just plain HATES that someone out there is more powerful and knows more than he does. How this relationship would evolve would vary wildly based on which multiverse headcanon is being referenced, but I have some in WIP form at the moment which I may share soon. ;)

The common element, I think, that would end up drawing them together (beyond their mutual link through Danny) would be Loneliness. Vlad craves love more than anything in the world, and Clockwork has been alone for centuries. Both have suffered trauma and drastic changes in their lives, and both have some difficulty relating to others on an emotional and intellectual level. The CW in my brain loves horology (clockmaking) and tinkering, and Vlad is an inventor; they can match each other’s brain power and creativity. I also headcanon CW as having a sometimes-dry sense of humor and a mischievous streak, which would make a nice companion to Vlad’s sarcasm and sass.

Who Tops? I know a lot of people hc Clockwork as a top, and I get it, he’s ancient, he’s powerful, he’s “all knowing,” and also Vlad is a Turbo Virgin and a brat. That being said, I hc CW as not just a bottom, but a slutty, *subby*, bottom, needy and hypersexual and flirty to the max. Why? Well first of all because I just like it, lol. But also, consider: “I am literally micromanaging ALL OF TIME, constantly making sure this universe we inhabit stays unfucked and functioning properly, why the *hell* would I also want to make all the decisions in bed??”

In addition, this man has to maintain HELLA emotional regulation to stay objective while doing his job, and that kind of iron grip on one’s feelings can’t be good for anyone to have to do 24/7; he’d crave somewhere he can lose that control and emote freely. He would need somewhere safe to channel his emotional responses into, and Sex could be that place. Also, the CW in my brain is a bit bratty in his own right, when he’s not being all mysterious and wise, so Vlad will have his nonexistent patience fucking *tested* on the regular. Masters is going to snap and turn that faerie bastard over his knee, and they will both enjoy it. Lots.

As for Vlad being a Turbo Virgin, my hc is this: there is No Way he is going to let the opportunity to have the Master of Fucking Time melting in his hands get away; he will *research* gay sex, he will deep dive that shit, he will stalk online LGBT and BDSM forums and prod people for info under carefully crafted pseudonyms, he will get a P.H.D. in fucking if he has to, as long as it gives him *power* over someone like Clockwork, and all that might entail if he plays his cards right! He’s a scientist for chrissakes, he will learn, he will overcome 70’s Era internalized homophobia, he will even push down his obsession with Maddie Fenton in pursuit of such a promising treasure. The issue will come, of course, when somewhere along the line he trips onto the realization that the attraction is *mutual.* (I also heartily believe that Vlad is some flavor of demisexual, and it won’t be long before he realizes that not only does he want Clockwork, he also wants Clockwork to *love him*.) The idiot went and Caught Feelings somewhere between the scheming and attempts at manipulation, and now he had a brand *new* obsession. Oops! :D

Clockwork meanwhile finds that Vlad is A) Oof, Very Much His Type, and B) Somehow *not* the biggest asshole he’s ever slept with (that honor belongs to his ex, the Ghost King and the fucker who gave him his nasty face scar). This is tragic, because Vlad is also a dastardly, lying, scheming bastard with a huge ego and a ton of emotional baggage. None of which are actually as daunting as the fact that, being simultaneously alive and dead, Vlad (like Danny) is an Anomaly, as in: a factor in the river of Time that CW cannot reliably “See” or predict (might go into that hc more later). That makes Vlad dangerous, and makes CW wary. Alas, he is also Very Hot and Clockwork is Very Horny and Alone. I figure CW actually being quite emotional beneath his inscrutable exterior makes a lot of sense, if you subscribe to the ideas presented in the Danny Phantom comic, “A Glitch In Time,” i.e., “ghosts get their power from emotions.” CW is a very powerful ghost, ergo, powerful emotions!

All of which culminates in some very intense sexual encounters, once Vlad works up the nerve to make a move (or CW decides it’s worth the risk). They are like rabbits to me: they will fuck angry, they will fuck affectionate, they will fuck over an argument, over slinging stupid jokes at each other, over Vlad being smug about something, over Clockwork being fond about something, day, night, ghostly realm, human realm, in a bed, on a couch, over the kitchen table, on top of Vlad’s stupid expensive car, they are going *at it.* And sure, Vlad’s probs in his fifties or something, but he has Ghost Powers, he’s running on an internal battery that makes a nuke look cute, and CW was terrifying before he even died. Neither of these men have a refractory period to speak of. We’re talking multiple orgasms, 9 encounters out of 10.

(Also the first time Clockwork sinks *deep* and sobs Vlad’s name like he’s gonna die all over again, all tears and trembling lips and “please pleasePLEASE” Vlad is going to experience a power trip the likes of a bomb going off. He will never recover, and neither will his dick.)

in case anyone is wondering who these freaks are:

all the greys in white are part of an AI hivemind thing (think ancillary justice style) called "undermoon", and specifically the unmasked ones are part of undermoon's sub-brain, eclipse. sub-brains tend to have slightly different personalities and preferences, the other two are from tide & albedo and showcase different fashion. the individual grey bodies are called 'seers' and the hiveminds are called 'overseers'.

the short stylish grey is nixie, an exile from the empire who lives with myzo (fibsharks)

the tall grey in black is enen, who is sort of the main character of the story i have going for greyworld. they're an ex-mech pilot and they have many, many things wrong with them

the dark grey myzo is unnamed, they're stationmaster of an important space station where a lot of things happen in the story.

the shorter yellow myzo is named chesse and they're on a mixed-species pirate crew. they are a very unremarkable person and it's unclear how they ended up as a pirate

the red/brown myzo is sorsha and they're part of the same crew as chesse. they're an absolute bastard with a mysterious past (the clipped fins and neck scar suggest that they should have a brainworm but they don't)

aaaand lastly the black and white myzo is eel and they're one of nixie's friends

♡ you assumed he must be playing a prank on you, but he seemed so genuine. so at peace as the thoughts of gertrude got him off. you felt tears brim at your eyes as you shouted that you weren't gertrude and that he had to leave right now.

♡ when your voice pierced his ears, his eyes widened in shock. his entire face went beet red as he blubbered out apologies and hiked his pants back up. the furious look in your eye wracked shivers down eli's spine, he knew there was no going back from what he had done.

♡ you shook with sobs as thoughts of not being good enough for eli pulsed through your head. he attempted to rest a reassuring hand on your shoulder but was chased out by two grief-stricken words: "just go."

♡ for the next few days, eli repeatedly tried to pull you aside in the manor to speak with you, or he had someone else ask you to see him. you rejected their advances. eli chose between you and gertrude that night. he chose her.

♡ letters delivered by victor piled up at your doorstep. naib couldn't rescue you without urging you to see eli. norton couldn't heal you without mentioning how the seer has a broken heart.

♡ eli was a good man, you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him, but you couldn't handle being in gertrude's shadow. how many times has he almost moaned her name? when his voice was muffled by a pillow, has he said it then? in his sleep? when you walked away did he call out a 'bye gertrude'?

♡ when he looked at you, did he even see you? or did he see her?

♡ the girls of the manor were the ones who had your back (even if reader isnt fem). when you vented to them about eli, they nodded in pained understanding and invited you to their girls nights.

♡ the only one who didn't agree with the pack was patricia. she told you a story while decoding. when she was little and lost her mother, she would constantly call her adopted mother the name of her birth mother by accident. it didn't mean she preferred her birth mother, just that she missed her.

♡ patricia also informed you that while picking herbs, she saw eli distraught at the manor's outdoor fountain. she told you it was unusual for the seer to be this crestfallen and inconsolable, even if you were seething you should still check in on him.

♡ mike overheard your conversation and told you he occasionally refers to his teammates as his costars from the hullabaloo circus, it's just motor memory and your brain not thinking straight. like how someone swears when the hunter knocks them down, you don't think about swearing. it just happens. he didn't know eli that well but he had always thought you two were a brilliant couple and wanted you to thrive.

♡ you agreed to see him, a pang of guilt hitting your heart as you thought about the condition eli was in. maybe you were too harsh.

♡ exiting the manor at night and heading to the fountain, you heard the distant sound of sniffling. it was eli, slumped over on the fountain holding an echo. he tossed it in the water to make a wish.

♡ "i wish that... y/n has a wonderful life, surrounded with love, even if i blew my chance. i just want her to be happy."

♡ eli's voice raspy from crying broke your heart in two. you silently took a seat beside him, dipping your hands in the cool water.

♡ a gasp fell from his lips when he saw you. your eyes met his blindfolded ones. his lips were stretched into a tight line as he thought of what to say to you. pulling down his blindfold, he revealed to you that his eyes were bloodshot and damp from tears.

♡ "...it was her birthday," eli croaked out. "i wasn't projecting, i promise you can't be compared to her, i was just... stressed, thinking about how she'd be alone." he couldn't dare to look at you. "i hope you'll forgive me."

♡ your words caught in your throat and your mind went straight to your conversation with patricia and mike. your boyfriend wanted to be intimate with you so he'd forget something stressful that was eating away at him and you made him think he'd lost a lover again... you felt like a jerk. "i promise it's okay eli, i'm sorry for blowing up."

♡ he perked up at your answer. "y-your reaction was reasonable, don't apologize... now, are we still..?" he made a heart shape with his hands that made you weak in the knees.

♡ pressing a chaste kiss to his cheek and feeling his breath hitch, you smiled with your lips on his skin. "we are, i'd never want to leave you. i've got you eli, always and forever," his cheeks burnt underneath yours. pulling away, he grabbed your wrist like he did when the incident first happened.

♡ "don't go y/n... i can think of a way to make everything up to you."

That one is actually from a video i really like! It's a super cool theory

The theory is that the great great grandfather Jesse mentions in the movie was actually part of Jesse's troupe and had a child with a woman as a vampire and that's why Ethan is a seer and also why his blood is H Deficient out of no where because really why is some random teen in the middle of Canada chilling with this crazy rare blood anyway
