to me, the real tragedy of kiriona gaia is that, technically, she gets everything gideon ever wanted. to be free of the ninth, to be rid of harrow, to join the cohort, to be on the front lines. it’s in the most twisted way possible, but she gets her wish. and yet—it’s not enough. she’s still miserable: the saddest girl in the universe.

I love how every single character in the locked tomb series is a complete girlfailure. Except Camilla obviously.

The way Gideon must have wanted Harrow so bad after waking up as Kiriona. How world bending that was, waking up with everything unnatural not really her; but still in the same body with skin that doesn't fit right, wanting something, anything, to remind her of home even if it was her prison. I feel like this is backed up by Nona kissing her. Kiriona must have been filled with so much want seeing the girl she literally died for. Just to come to the realization that she's not even in the body she died to protect as soon as she kisses her, because Harrow would have never kissed her. Literally the saddest girl in the whole universe.

can't stop thinking about john gaius being the Great Resurrector and just entirely phoning it in with gideon. she can resist any wound but he didn't close the one that opened her chest, and instead left his fingerpring on it with the teeth. harrow, notably not God, meticulously grew ianthe a full new arm but God, also her Literal Dad, didn't give her a new heart. all she ever wanted harrow to do was eat her but she found out God was her dad and also a dick then he ripped her from harrow's soul (just like he told harrow he couldn’t!) and put her in a half assed verson of her body and made her a revenant of herself. not even a real resurrection. she’s a ghost possessing her own dead body without the freedom palamedes had to move between bodies because she’s Trapped In There. i'd be down to resurrect the only thing that could kill god too

Kiriona misses the Ninth House like a neglected child misses their parents

All i'm saying it's that maybe, just maybe, Kiriona has face paint somewhere in her rooms. And sometimes - it's just the muscular memory, she tells herself - she does the Ninth's face paint, bites her cheeks' interior as she paints them hollow with black, so the colour's uniform. The white it's tricky, easy to smudge, as Harrow used to say. And she ends the face paint. It's not perfect, in fact it's pretty wanky, but it looks similars to Agliamede's.

This is all she ever wanted, she reminds herself, this is her dream life, not the Ninth, with their dying nuns and their Reverent Daughter and dead bodies.

She takes the paint off.

do you ever think of the light in Gideon/Kiriona's eyes leaving the second she realizes who's body is kissing her and that the soul of that body would never kiss her like this (or probably in her opinion ever) so it is not her kissing her and everything that could have been good is once again crushed and she is still just dead and in a body?

yeah me neither, because I’m very normal about it and totally okay and it's not one of the most devastating things I can think of
