That little evil voice in my head wishes it happened like that, that Dean had died and Sam had to tell Cas and watch him unravel with the same kind of pain. (Except in this Romeo and Juliet, tragedy is reversed and Dean comes back eventually)

dean literally kills himself one episode prior to this and is only brought back because billie decided it wasn't his time to die. like he really pulled a romeo on cas. imagine cas coming back and asking where dean is and sam is like oh uh he just killed himself because he thought he'd lost you forever :/ sorry :/ this blue cross in the background reminiscent of baz luhrmann's romeo + juliet means nothing btw

Widower arc is absolutely insane because Dean's grief was ultimately over the loss of ... Cas. And every single writer on that cursed show put extra effort to highlight how DEAN'S GRIEF WAS ALL ABOUT LOSING CASTIEL.

It's gotta be the widower arc of s13, just immaculate. The comparison of Sam and Dean's reactions, the expressions, the prayer of he's everything and I need him, absolutely wild.

If it has to be one part, though, I 'm gonna have to be a basic bitch and say the "we're making it up as we go," because the soft way that Dean looks up at him just plays in my head from time to time.

Idk why I'm so obsessed with the s13 widower arc but I am so-

Either have the Good With Kids!Dean that has been there all throughout canon, or commit to the fucking Winchester family storyline and admit that he loves Cas. They had two choices and neither were done right.

Insane that they said "Dean, a man who has historically been shown to be gentle with children, is going to treat Jack like absolute garbage" and then half-assedly parallel him with John but it just doesn't get the bite of a direct parallel. The story line doesn't come across as how cycles of abuse are perpetuated and broken because they just cannot look too closely at equating Dean's behavior to John because that means equating Cas to Mary.

The whole thing comes across as mushmouthed and ooc because they can't acknowledge that yeah, Dean is in love with Cas. And while I'm sure labor laws are part of why Jack was born as an adult rather than a kid (also it is kinda interesting), you cannot give a baby (Cas' baby!) to Dean to raise because then it's too clear of a parallel to John having to take care of Sam and Dean after Mary's death. Why does John fall apart after Mary's death? Well, he was in love with her. Why Does Dean fall apart when Cas dies? Oh, well we can't talk about that.

He really did say that he sees loss when he looked at Jack, those eyes are bright blue but not the right ones, not enough to fix him-

On the topic of jack looking like Cas

I do think that's a large part of why Dean was so mean to him specifically during the widower arc. Imagine the love of your life dies and this kid who looks JUST LIKE HIM shows up and your brother has him following you around
