Honestly werewolves. I have written (and posted) it today for the first time, and I can see myself expending on it or writing something else. Especially the bond after one is being bitten is fascinating to me, I would love to explore that a bit more. How much can they feel the other, what does the bond do - does it have maybe a kind of will on its own and is displeased when Leon and Matthew fight on the ice etc? lot's of possibilites. plus hot smut options!

27. your favourite part of the writing process

I like plotting out ideas (but not too much into detail) and then the actual writing, especially when I get into that flow and all of a sudden I've written a couple of thousands words in a day and it all comes together. It's a great feeling. What I like least is doing research.

Back to the woodwind quintet today, featuring the clarinet, and once again experimenting with the near-infinite possibilites of colour this group has. The first idea behind today's piece is having some players sutain notes from the soloist's melody, creating an effect like playing piano with the damper pedal. I find it sounds fascinating with woodwinds, like they're playing in a massive echoing hall.

The second idea is how I harmonized the melody, with bassoon and muted horn. This is a combination I discovered years ago, when I once had to fill in for a bassoon 2 part on my horn; I chose to use my mute to imitate the bassoon's timbre a bit better, and the blend I found between myself and the bassoon 1 player was intriguing. Here, the bassoon's scale alternates seconds and fourths, so I had the horn mirror this my moving in 4ths when the basson moves by 2nd, and vice versa. The resulting harmony sounds a fair bit like the horn fifths pattern, with many major thirds and perfect fifths, but it lacks the clear root tone that horn fifths has, making it function very differently. I'm definitely going to experiment with this more in the future.

Ok Y’all Time For My Undertale Crack Theory

I think the monsters use base-12. (I’m going to go ahead and explain base-12 since it’s not common knowledge, if you already know then you can skip the next paragraph!) Basically, base-12 (or duodecimal) is a numerical system in which twelve is the first double-digit number. Counting in duodecimal would look like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X, Ε, 10 With X being equal to ten, Ε equal to to eleven, and 10 equal to twelve. The values are still the same, but the characters used to represent them change. This is admittedly a pretty sucky explanation but if anyone is genuinely curious I can try to do better lol ANYWAY my friend initially brought this up; she immediately paused after getting this dialogue:

Instead of having -2 followers like he would have in decimal (or 111 if you want to get SUPER nit-picky), he would just have... 0. I think this is probably the most convinving piece of evidence in our favor. Of course it could just be some fun dialogue Toby through in as a joke, but overanalysis is fun so. I’m not stopping there. Next I noticed the in-game year:

Ebbot 201X] So, initially, I believed 201X was meant to indicate some year between 2010 and 2019, with X replacing the last number. BUT if you consider that X is a character marking the value of ten in duodecimal, the year becomes 3478 in decimal (aka base-10, the number system we use). Now if the year had only been mentioned in the opening sequence, it would be a lot easier to play off as an unknown, but it’s written on a calendar in Asgore’s house!

You can’t really make a calendar for a nondescript year (unless he’s got just... a nine year calendar?) so it would actually make more sense, in my opinion, for 201X to indicate an exact year in duodecimal than a range of years in decimal. Those are my really hard-hitters, but I also think it’s cool to think about WHY monsters would use duodecimal. The reason humans use base-10 is because we typically have 10 fingers. It would be easier for a person with 10 fingers, 10 ‘digits,’ to use a mathematical system based around the number 10. But as far as I can tell, monsters don’t have 10 fingers. Granted, this could be more related to art-style, but the coincidences are stacking up at this point, right? Look at these sprites:

If we are to assume that the monsters have been sealed underground for a while, it would make sense for them to eventually convert to a numerical system that fit them better, right? So they would probably want to choose a base divisible by the number of fingers they have on a hand. It just so happens that 12 is divisible by 4.  Sure, they could also use another base like 16, but Papyrus’s initial comment and the fact that X is used instead of A have me leaning towards 12.

TL;DR the monster’s numerical system revolves around the number 12 instead of 10.

Anyway that’s all I can think of at the moment!! If you have any more examples of this or even something that disproves it entirely, please let me know! Interview

1. When and how did you start to become interested in photography?

First of all, I would like to thank the PWS Team for this event and their support for photographers here on Tumblr! The first point is a small black and white laboratory in the garage of my father in which I spent many days (and nights!) in the red light, learning and practicing film and paper processing, years of Patterson cuvés, Ilford papers and Durst. The second point is a very beautiful full-length black and white portrait of an American singer found in an old magazine of bands with a great range of gray, highlighting the many details, from skin to the eyes to the clothes to the hair. This photo has remained in my memory as the translation of colors into black and white, sublimating the portrait.

2. How would you say your photography changed since you started?

I began photography with a SLR camera and black and white films. At that time the films were expensive so I did not take many pictures and learned to take my time before releasing the shutter (this way of taking pictures has stayed with me). I discovered the complexity of the sensitivity, speed and aperture settings. Now with the DSLR models, there are a lot of possibilites and many automatic settings, but I always come back to the manual mode with no auto focus. Otherwise, the change comes by itself when you look at a lot of photographs, inevitably, you become much more critical of your own pictures.It happens by itself.

3. Is there something you learned during your photographic journey that you would have loved to know when you were just starting out?

Don't focus too much on the technical settings and leave a lot of space around the subjects.

4. Your blog consists to a large degree of macro photographs. What is it that draws you towards macro photography?

So many magnificent colors and patterns. It's fascinating what you discover when you get very close to the pistil of a flower, to a tiny insect that turns its little head towards you, I still haven't got tired of it! It's like entering another world on another scale, full of symmetry and extraordinary shades.The beauty of a snowflake!

5. What inspires you?

So many photographers, black and white street photography by Vivian Maier, and contemporary photographers like Mitchell Kanashkevich, and Anne McKinnell, and many photographers here on Tumblr. ...And the light! How a ray of sunlight enters a room, the shadows it casts on the walls, the curtains or in a forest, illuminating the leaves like a golden curtain.

6. If you'd have to describe yourself as a photographer in one sentence, what would that sentence be?

Like thousands of other photographers to show the beauty and diversity of the Nature that surrounds us in order to stop this useless destruction and the endangerment of our biodiversity.

idk if you've said anything like this before but you're the only glee & avatar person i see anymore sooo... what kind of benders do you think all the glee kids would be (or just the ones you feel like talking about lol)

Ah yes, the intersection of Glee and Avatar is... quite something lmao. I think I listed them out like a year ago and on a different platform so that's no longer relevant anyway. These are most vibes-based but Avatar does have a pretty neat system of symbolism behind the elements so I'll try to keep that in mind - unfortunately, Glee lacks any kind of thematic consistency lmao.

Fire

I've seen people say water as Santana's element (in a non-Avatar context) and as interesting as I find that choice, I kinda can't not go with fire for her. I think she'd initially rely a lot on anger and I like the idea that she needs to be more like a waterbender and find that push and pull balance. Can be a chaotic and destructive force but also someone who breathes life into things, metaphorically? Heck yeah.

Rachel’s the most difficult character for me to envision in the Avatarverse and I feel like this is a pretty surface level choice but idk, it’s her drive. That passion and persistence, the way she burns so brightly in spite and because of everything. And she will not shine with a lesser intensity for anyone.

Blaine’s friendliness also makes me think of air or others for him but I think the passion with which he creates makes a case for fire. Because fire is creation, and I think the fire peeps together could represent different but equally fascinating aspects of the element. He can be intense like Pezberry but is more aware of not, well, burning out as it was. Like a more lowkey firebender? But other elements could be compatible too.

Air

Mike as major air vibes, with his fluidity and easy-going attitude, willingness to remove personal glory, all that. He’d be such a fun airbender, showing off on his glider and all. I’m also manifesting Harry Shum to play some kind of role in the franchise, whether that’s Avatar Studios or the Netflix live-action.

While I’m drawn to the idea of fire and water Brittana and the binary opposition there, I think air fits Brittany more. She’s one of the least grounded characters and very much about different perspectives, finding her own way, that eccentricity that we see from flashbacks with the Air Nomads. She’d follow her own path for sure.

I swear I only thought of Theo after I thought of this, but Artie. Bending is something that can turn traditional disabilities into strengths in the Avatarverse and I like the idea of air being an escape for Artie where he’s flying free. His creative vision also makes me think of airbending and how it’s full possibilites and the freedom to do whatever you want.

Water

I can see Quinn being a lot things depending on which personality she's using that day but I gravitate towards water for her. Sort of ice queen vibes, starts out solely as a healer but breaks away from her traditional family. I also think she'd be the most likely to dabble in bloodbending just because of the thematic importance of generational trauma and breaking the cycle there. Out of all the elements and subtypes of bending, I'm the most fascinated by bloodbending but convo for another day haha. Water is also the element of change and that’s a huuuge thing for Quinn, learning to embrace it.

Kurt, and I can’t really put my finger on why. I suppose, the adaptability, associating him with the colour blue, maybe the defying of traditional gender roles too. I could see him being air as well but yeah I’m going with water.

Sam could probably be different ones depending on the season but there’s something about the fluidity of water, the sense of community and adapting to different tides. Push and pull also feels kinda apt for him and I think he embodies different qualities of the element than Quinn and Kurt do but still fits. A more lowkey waterbender.

Earth

Finn could be different things depending on how you read him and I’m tempted to say fire because of his temper but earth feels more accurate. He’s stubborn and finds it hard to find a different perspective but once he opens up his world he can be a really grounding presence for others. There’s also a special kind of community feeling to the Earth Kingdom where they’re quite scattered generally but have this greater sense of belonging that I vibe with for Finn, who does have this arc of being the uniter.

Puck goes here because of his toughness but I also like a metalbending arc for him. Metalbending is about pressure, and social pressure hardening you until you can turn it around and live by your own terms. I think Puck has a lot of redefining to do and I like the idea of him starting as such an indelicate earthebnder and learning to appreciate and use the finer things. Handle things with more care as it was.

Tina could also be water on a different day but today I’m feeling earth for her. The stability, but also the danger of being stagnant and struggling to break free of the mold others have created for her. The power to shape so much around her but the willingness to do so being a key component. Also the endurance of putting up with so much, often unappreciated. Yeah, today I’m feelign earthbender Tina.

And, finally, hear me out... Mercedes as the Avatar. I see maybe earth being her base element but I just vibe with the idea of her being the master of all four elements, the one being the most balanced and capable. She's also the only one I'd trust with my life, frankly.

I feel like you're relatively new to the fandom. So how did you get here? What draws you to Rumbelle?

I’m quite new to the fandom on Tumblr, certainly, it’s only been about a year or so, and was late to the Once party in general. So /here/  is how it all happened, my /long/ journey to Rumbelle, and the Tumblr Rumbelle fandom.

In my 20s I suffered a massive depressive episode. The /only/ thing that would get me out of the house was the movie, The Mummy Returns. I saw it in the Theater at least 10 times.  My first fan fiction was a Mummy fic, because I didn’t like the fics I was reading, and decided to write something myself. That began my fic writing, which persisted from then, until now, (almost 30 years).

Fast forward to 2016. Because I learned that Oded Fehr was going to play Jafar in Once, I wanted to watch it, but aware that this was going to be season 6, I figured I should probably watch 1-5 first, so I would understand what was going on. Once was binged... and from the very beginning Rumple resonated with me... he was so fascinating, so complicated, and just so very well acted.  Then Belle came along, and I was lost.  Their story together was just the perfect mix of beauty and angst... but of course was /horribly/ treated by the show. Cue wanting to write fiction, my first was written in 2017, but with the onset of another depressive episode, I hit a block. Fast forward again to 2019.  I was reading a lot, and I was reading a lot of rumbelle fic on AO3, and I happened upon @emospritelet I started reading her work, and I think commenting on just about every chapter as I read it, and then found her on Tumblr, and through her, came to the Rumbelle fandom here. I’m drawn to Rumbelle because theirs is a journey of so many possibilites, as I said, the perfect mix of beauty and angst, and they are very inspirational as far as writing fic is concerned.  Their mix of dark and light, their balancing of one another. What’s not to love? They are complex in their simplicity, and are very much a poorly treated ‘backbone’ of the entire Once arc... at least to me, anyway.

the devil: do you enjoy thunderstorms? I LOVE them actually. But we rarely get proper long ones. There is rain and maybe a bit of sound of thunder and then it usually stops. I absolutely love it when it happens though. Wether I’m at home or outside. Everyone hides and gets shelter but not me. the tower: favorite colors to wear? PERSONA 5

Akechi Goro/Kurusu Akira

I’m a big sucker for party traitors, so it isn’t really a surprise that I walked out of my Persona 5 playthrough with a new shiny ship. I love how messed up it is with both of them planning to outplay each other in a deadly game and yet still forming an emotional attachment. I also really love how they are mirror images of each other. They are extremely similar, and yet they are also each others opposites. There’s just something fascinating in watching them interact.

For the story, I’m very okay with some in-between the canon flirting with the obligatory dash of scheming and mind games. I also would endorse, some post canon with Goro turning out to be alive. Not having idea what to do next with his life, he follows Akira to his hometown, where he stalks him for some time (bonus points for Goro being miserably homeless, because he probably doesn’t have much at this point), before Akira spots him and reluctantly decides to help Goro get some footing. I would love if Akira helps convince Goro to take a therapy, because he really needs it.

AUs and ships

I don’t mind AUs, just be aware that the messed up relationship between the two of them is a huge draw for me, so I would definitely opt to preserve that part in some form. You don’t have to do the exact same scenario, but at least make them childhood friends, who ended up on the opposite sides of some conflict. Or undercover spies who got in relationship without knowing each other true identities and they really should kill each other since they work for different clients. The exact setting is of secondary importance to me, so choose whatever you feel would work best. AU Divergences are also welcome. I’m always a game for Akechi surviving. Especially, if he gets to shoot the final boss--he deserves that.

As for how spicy I want this pairing, I would be pretty okay with them having makeouts or even sex, but you shouldn’t feel pressured in this regard. I would be as delighted to see 5k words of them just doing intense mindgames.

I’m okay with including pretty much any other ships, except for the ones between the characters who are still students and adults in this case.

DORORO

I’m watching the anime as it comes out, so you are free to incorporate any new developments into the story. I will definitely be caught up on new episodes.

Hyakkimaru

I love the whole idea of someone’s sense and body parts being stolen with them. The process of Hyakkimaru regaining his body parts is fascinating and the main draw for me. You don’t have to concentrate on this aspect, but just a few mentions will go a long way for me.

I would love some sort of youkai of the week story. Hyakkimaru and Dororo having to figure out how to find it. Bonus points if Hyakkimaru’s newly regained senses become an asset/inconvenience when facing the youkai.

I asked for Hyakkimaru, because he is tied to the aspect of the story most interesting to me, but I’m okay with fic not focusing on him, especially for some of AU suggestions bellow.

AUs and ships

The “regaining body parts and senses” plotline is such a huge draw for me, I’m not big on any AUs that change the setting (unless you can somehow incorporate that aspect). Also I love how much the show commits to the gruesome warring states aesthetic, so I would definitely love to see more of that. 

However, I’m all for canon divergences or roleswaps. Like messing around with the order in which Hyakkimaru got his senses back. Or a roleswap AU where it’s Mio who is cursed and killing demons. Or Mio somehow surviving the attack, which results in Dororo and Hyakkimaru desperately trying to keep her alive despite the wounds she sustained. Or a bodyswap between two characters with Hyakkimaru being extra overwhelmed by suddenly having all senses and limbs, and the other character struggling to navigate his half-complete body.

I have no strong ship preferences here. I’m okay with Hyakkimaru/Mio, but if you have a strong preference for some other ship I probably won’t mind. I would prefer Hyakkimaru and Dororo’s relationship to remain platonic, though.

BEASTARS

I’m caught up with the manga, so don’t worry about spoiling anything for me or incorporating new developments.

Legosi

He’s beauty, he’s grace, he’s a teenage grey wolf with a lot on his plate.

I love Legosi as a character. He has great interactions with literally everybody and keeps getting himself in a lot of trouble without even trying. I would love watching how he bounces off other characters. I would especially love a case fic. I really enjoyed his investigation of Tem’s death and would love to see him solving other crimes/problems. Whether it be Rokume asking Legosi for help with yet another investigation, Yafya pushing him into doing something or Louis just grabbing him out of the street, because he needs a trusted person to help him find the truth, all those scenarios would be great. I would especially love, if someone was helping Legosi bounce the idea. I’m not picky about who it is, chose whichever character you like. Whether it be Louis, Haru, any classmate, theater member, Rokume or Legosi’s grandpa, they are all valid choices.

If investigation is not really your cup of tea, you can go for some other adventure. Maybe some story from when Legosi was working part-time for Gouhin? Or Legosi’s struggle with drama club stuff. Maybe an AU where Legosi ends up having to be an actor in some different circumstances?

AUs and ships

Setting influences the characters so much I can’t even imagine divorcing them from it. However, I don’t mind any Canon Divergences.

I’m okay with pretty much any ship for Legosi, other than shipping him with his family.

SWORD ART ONLINE

I haven’t read Alicization novels, just watched anime. I know anime skipped some content and if you want to use it in the story I’m fine with it, just make sure to establish the situation so I know what’s going on. However, I would be grateful for not spoiling the story from the novels that have yet to be adapted (you are free to use general worldbuilding from it, just don’t spoil major plot elements).

Eugeo/Kirito

I was perfectly fine with Asuna/Kirito becoming canon and then Eugeo comes and makes everything gay. Honestly, though, I love the interactions Eugeo and Kirito had and I would love to see more. Especially from their sword academy days where they had some peaceful time before they were brought to the tower. I want to know all the weird shenanigans they got into during that time, given how much like they acted like an old married couple. Or if you want something else then maybe some exploration of their struggles as they climb the tower. For example, a time loop taking place during their tower climb, with the system returning to the last save state each time Kirito dies to keep him alive. 

AUs and ships

I don’t have any suggestions, but I don’t mind setting changes if that’s where you want to go. I’m also okay with Canon Divergence AUs of any kind. Especially, for ones changing the ending of first season. Like, I’m okay with sad gay we got, but there are so many possibilites to explore here other than what canon gave us. Maybe have Eugeo permanently fuse with his blade so Kirito ends up having a sentient sword boyfriend. Or he asks Cardinal to transfer her authority to him and have him oppose Administator as the new Cardinal. There’s just so many interesting ways this could have gone.

As I mentioned I’m okay with Asuna/Kirito ship, so if you want you can incorporate it in the story. Just make sure the focus stays on Eugeo/Kirito. I must also admit that I really can’t see Eugeo’s feelings for Alice as romantic, so I would prefer them to not be portrayed as such.

BOKU NO HERO ACADEMIA

I read the manga chapters as they come out, you can assume I’m caught up on all new developments.

Bakugou Katsuki/Uraraka Ochako

I love how different the two of them, but at the same time how well they see through each other. I would love to have them work together while showing both great teamwork, but at the same time butting heads over their differences in worldview. I also love how they both acknowledge each other’s strength.

They are both very focused on becoming heroes, so I would prefer that they don’t just get together easily. I believe they would be both be extremely reluctant to do so, because of their line of work and media attention that heroes get. Still, I would love to see the tension between them where their professionalism fights against their feelings.

For prompts I would love having them complete some sort of exercise or exam together. I would love to see them pretend to be villains for the sake of exercise and Ochako surprisingly getting into the role, with occassional moments of her breaking out of it, which give everyone a whiplash. I feel like Bakugo would have amusing reactions to seeing her act so out of character. Or the work together on something for school festival. Like making a perferomance togater. Alternatively you can go for future fic where the two of them take part in an action to stop villains. Maybe one of them gets hurt which prompts the other to get more honest about their feelings. 

AUs and ships

I would very much encourage any future fics for this pairing. I love seeing characters as fully-fledged heroes. I’m okay with other setting changes, though I would prefer for the competence aspect to still come in play somehow in them (with Bakugo being stupidly talented and hard working, while acknowledging Ochako’s potential). I’m also okay with canon divergences.

I don’t mind past Midoriya/Ochako if you want to incorporate it into the story, but I’d rather not get any love triangles for this pairing. Either have Ochako’s feelings sizzle out or have them date and break up at some point in the past. When it comes to other pairings I like Midoriya/Todoroki and Eraserhead/Mic, but have no strong feelings on other characters pairings, so you are free to do whatever I guess.

As a child, it didn’t matter to me where I came from. Where my genetics originated or who my ancestors were didn’t intrigue me. When I became an adult, my genealogy fascinated me. Some time ago, my mother created a family tree of my father’s family. I always knew that side of my family was big, but I didn’t realize the number of relatives I had.

My father was one of six boys born to Austin Waldo Evans and Yvonne Bertrand. My grandmother, Yvonne, was the youngest of twelve siblings. Each of her siblings had no less than three children. And the children old enough to have children had no less than three of their own. You can imagine how many of us that is, but I’ve done the math.

From my father, I have 105 family members, give or take newborns and the deceased; not to mention the few that we have adopted or taken in. That’s quite a clan. From my father’s family tree, I learned some of my genealogy. I am Creole; a mix of French, Black, and Native American; Dominican; possibly Black and Native American; and some Spanish. I surmised long ago that I come from a long line of mixed race ancestry.

When my mother finished mapping my father’s lineage, she partnered up with my uncle to map out her lineage. From their unique childhood memories and a number of family stories, they put together a nice size family tree. They eventually did some research using Ancestry.com to fill in some blanks. On my mother’s side of the family, there is Creole, full blood Native American, and some Irish.

What does this have to do with adopting a holistic lifestyle? For a long time, I experienced very detailed dreams, phantom taps on my shoulder, shivers, and strong senses of awareness. I also experience strong senses of emotion. The strong senses of awareness resembled anxiety, even panic attacks. At the time, I was suffering from severe panic attacks and anxiety as PMS symptoms. That’s what I thought I was experiencing. Recently, I had gone through a time of introspection and self-exploration. Since then, I’ve come to realize that what I was going through was intuitive experiences.

Along with a strong intuitive sense, I also can sense nature. I can smell rain and feel actual water when there’s humidity. I can even feel a difference between summer heat and the heat of the cooler months. I remembered a time when my maternal grandmother, Amelia, mentioned she’d been told she was born inside her amniotic sac or in a caul. This is a rare occurrence and is said to mean that a newborn will possess supernatural abilities or has been born into greatness. Grandma Amelia referred to it as “being born with a vail”. She also told stories of having dreams of my deceased grandfather, Ishmeal, and sensing his presence after waking up.

I knew, from my grandmother’s stories and my strong bloodline, that I inherited intuitive abilities, as well as, a strong spiritual connection to nature. I, possibly, inherited these abilities from a distant grandparent or an ancestor. I wanted to study intuition and strengthen my abilities so I bought a book called “Intuition for Beginners”, by Diane Brandon. I read and studied; did the exercises and started keeping a journal to document my experiences. My first time reading this book, I learned that honing your intuition can help enhance all aspects of your life. I’m still studying and honing my abilities. My experience with my intuition has introduced me to the possibilites of living a natural, authentic lifestyle.

Actually, I think Fukuzawa and me could complete each other really well. I am generally a vivid and emotional person and could really use someone calm and collected to rely on. On the other hand, I feel like he could use some caring to give him emotional support with the burden he has to carry leading the agency. Plus I am just as passionate protecting those who I feel are my kin.

I recently started following your blog, and I must admit I don't ship Ned/Cersei, but I'm kind of intrigued by the possibilities. How does she react to his lack of ambition? How does she react to Jon? Its all a fascinating thought exercise

It is fascinating, which is why I love the potential and possibility it allows. Exploring the what-if relationship is really fun to me. I love Ned and Catelyn together, but I think that Cersei would have had a completely different dynamic with Ned and I am here for it!

The consensus of responses to this post was "hate azula all you want" and i feel as tho... yall misunderstood me. Azula's not evil incarnate and that is not what i am implying.

I am suggesting that this young child has been raised in a position where she has demonstrated survival mechanisms of extreme manipulation and emptional distancing and a dependancy on perfectionism.

Golden child finds put her grandfather wanted her dead but her father and mother arranged a plot to overthrow said grandfather? Azula would learn a few things. Like "i am alive because i am my fathers favorite and he chose to keep me. I am more important than my brother because i have been chosen, and my father has mever chosen zuko over me." And also "if you are not absolutely perfect you are disposable. I need to be absolutely perfect." And maybe also "no one has more power than my father. My father arranged to have my grand father, a powerful fire lord, disposed of. My father can dispose of anyone. Even me, but he chose not to, because i am perfect."

This is not shade to Azula, this was a very frightening reality to grow up with. Her father disposed of the fire lord, his elder brother who was in line for the throne, his wife, his eldest son... and she was spared and kept because she is *perfect* and thus he wants her.

Coping mechanism for the fear, because fear is useless? Lying to her brother about what happened (denial probably)

I do not hate azula, i find her fuckin FASCINATING and heartbreaking and frightening.

And also theres a misconception that i am trying to paint Azulon in any kind of positive light for thrying to get rod of azula or for punishing ozai. Do not get it twisted: Azulon ordered and commited genocide, hes obviously terrible. But it was canonically established that he intended tonpunish Ozai for disrespecting Iroh and Lu Ten. This is not a redeeming quality. This is just a fact.

(Wouldnt be shocked if Azulon had a favortism thing for Iroh and was crueler to Ozai in a similar manner as Ozai is toward zuko. Could be where ozai learned his behavior of favortism, if Azulon valued his eldest son infinitely more than his youngest son, and thus Ozai decided he did not gove a shit about age importance of his children and chose to value the strongest (as he probably viewed himself compared to Iroh) and thus more worthy. Azulon is definitely not a redeemable character, he fuckin commited war crime and raised the nightmare that is Ozai.)

Thinking about the atla scene where theres a flashback to Ozai userping Iroh. And Azulon got mad for disrespect to his crown prince and recently deceased son.

And i know its the Fan Popular Opinion that Azulon was going to order Ozai to kill his own eldest son, especially because thats what Ozai and Azula say. But like... makes no sense.

Theres no other heirs to the throne without Lu Ten, and then Zuko, both dead. Its neither confirmed or denied whether Azula would have been *considered* eligible for the throne as we dont really address Firenation Gender Customs. But after Iroh (presuming he lived a full life span), Zuko would be the next of throne. Heir aparent with no generation to follow iroh.

It would make infinitely more sense is, to punish Ozai... Azulon ordered him to have Azula killed. She is a "spare heir" second born child, the one Ozai CLEARLY favored thus a better punishment, and if you follow the gender typical model, she would be an "heir presumptive" not an "heir apparent".

Azulon would have considered Azula the expendable one, and a better punishment for Ozai. And if Azula had over heard exactly as much as she said she did... she would have just assumed they were talking about ZUKO, not HER, because she knows she's Ozai's favorite and *better* and she maybe didnt even lie to Zuko, and genuinely thought it was zuko they were going to kill.

Additional fucking note is if she heard MORE than she said she did, and actually heard Azulon, grandfather who she is named after, order her to be killed? And then Lied To Zuko about it because she was frightened up until Azulon was killed, and believing her father arranged for Azulons death specifically to save her?

Well that would just shave a few layers off that girls already shallow sanity and would at yet another layer to her desperation to please and side with her father now wouldnt it. Especially if Azula, who was convinced her Mother hated her and was the enemy... then realized her MOTHER made a deal with Ozai and killed Azulon to protect HER? Would make that whole struggle with the reflection of her mother saying she loved her... make quite a lot of SENSE... dont you think...?

Tl;dr: im pretty sure Azulon ordered Azula killed to punish Ozai. Azula Always Lies.

The new band, named Acme, starts with a mini-album, where we can see that they are ready to go right to the point. An energetic rock sound, with strong electronic elements, surrounds their debut work, where the most important thing is Chisa’s interpretation, which sees an important growth, enclosing aggressive and deep tones against the clearer ones of his time with DIV.

If you make a band and put up together members from acts like Moi Dix Mois, Art Cube, Triggah and Endgam∃, what would be the final result? Surely a really good one, according to this first and unfortunately last album, invaded by fine and structured metal tracks, where the vocals are even better than what we can expect from this singer, really known by visual fans as Z. The band disbanded on the following month and that’s a bad thing, as with this release they showed to be really promising and entertaining.

In fact the singer Hitomi debuted with his solo project, releasing a mini-album, in two different versions, one per month. This one is the live-limited one, where the songs, different and complex in their own, see the presence of notable musicians of the scene, such as the famous singer Aie, Yuu from Merry, his ex band-mate Velo and Yuya from Develop One’s Faculties, giving to this release a more unique identity (not that the regular version, come out in September, is less).

This Japanese rock band started their career on 2007, releasing few singles and two mini-albums. But with this third mini-album they have caught my attention, as they managed to deliver something fresh, from a common musical style. The high-toned vocals drive well the songs, energetic and flowing and easy to be attracted to. Surely Rigel is a band ready to explode in something more powerful and we can’t wait to discover where they are heading to.

The first mention is for the prolific project led by the mentioned Soan, teaming for the second time with the vocalist Temari in his third mini-album. This time it seems that elements of both releases have been incorporated in this one, like the idyllic themes and energetic notes, accompained by the distinctive voice of the former Amber Gris singer, widening the possibilites that this project has for becoming bigger.

The final mention is for a really freaking and eccentric Japanese rock band, which became quite popular oversea for their energetic and adrenalinic themes. In the second album, they express at best their energy, with dynamic rock melodies, driven by a compelling rhythm, piercing guitar riffs and catchy vocals, for a true rock ‘n’ roll release made in Japan.

KOKOKO! – FONGOLA

You're right, this is getting intense. What is music? What do I like? Who am I? I feel as if this is the kind of exercise the School of Life might get you to do as a way to reconnect with your voice and your values and sense of purpose/fun. I'm lost.

I noticed the Guardian have been doing their top 50 by democratic process – they got fifty different critics to vote on their top 20 and based the final list off a points system; and look at the Turner Prize! I told you we were in the age of post-hierarchyism.

KOKOKO! have said their ethos is "survival fuels creativity". It's the sound of Kinshasa, Africa's third largest city, where the urban infrastructure buckles and gives out, where traditional instruments are only found in the relatively wealthy evangelical churches. A collective of inventors, musicians and artists, the members are part of a scene of alternative instrument-makers, harvesting sound from scraps and junk. I've got a slight-discomfort about the dystopic possibilities of this music, made possible by and through and despite life conditions that exist because of a world of criminal inequality; I don't want to fetishise that. So, I'll say it loud – this is ecstatic, but it is also art as protest and KOKOKO! are at the forefront of a Congolese wave making music in and about an increasingly strained political context.

They connected with Belgian producer Débruit back in 2016, when he was in the city shooting a film, and the collaboration grew from there. The sound is wild textures, ripped from the city. Dido, a primary member who makes the musical objects, told It’s Nice That, “we’re always looking for innovation, to find new sounds, the city is already very sonic so with your eyes closed you know who is around you…The street sellers each have their own rhythm, people who sell nail polishes bang them together to a certain rhythm, those who shine shoes have wooden boards which add another sound or people announcing destinations on minibuses.”

Débruit has said he was fascinated by the techno-qualities, improvisational but insistently present, despite the musicians not being familiar with the music. I’d argue this is probably because techno is a bastardisation of a lot of other things, and framed around essential rhythms and elements, rather than this slightly uncomfortable implication of it being the other way round. I also don’t much think Fongola shares common ground with techno. But it’s not got that thin, improvisational found-sound quality you might imagine from ‘music objects’ – which makes me think of performances in white cube gallery spaces. The instruments are hand made, their scope and range impossible to realise except by the person who invented it, so it probably sounds more like nothing you’ve ever heard. They call this up-cycled party “tekno kintueni” and ‘kintueni’ is a Congolese rhythm/dance, “a raw, hypnotic dance music that fuses local tradition with contemporary influences and new musical directions”. This is a music of emergency and choas, it's also raw and urgent and brilliant. A standout track is BUKA DANSA, which means 'dance till it breaks', or 'break the dance'. Brining the protest and the party, embrace the possibilites of that.

I’m not sure how this album ever made its way OUT of my top 25, but here we are. I’ve lost the thread and everything is up for dispute. Tomorrow’s placement brought to you by rune-reading?
