The Batch is a small time outlaw gang of brothers hiding out as hands on a dude ranch. Trying to leave their pasts as mercenaries behind them. Until they receive a mysterious letter that their long lost younger sister is being housed in an orphanage nearby. After an unsuccessful attempt to legally adopt her, they return later to break her out.

Now they’re all wanted criminals trying to outrun the law as well as their past.

Dream would win poker and all things gambling cause he can feel emotions.

Nightmare can too, but I feel he doesn't really play it that much.

Maybe for sick satisfaction of watching his opponent fail until they are broke and in serious debt to him.

Dream plays just cause he wants too and he oddly keeps a straight face as he does unlike Nightmare who always smiles.

They both know they're going to win, they always do.

It's just kinda funny when their opponent thinks they have a chance, not knowing they can feel every shift in their emotion.

oh theyd LOVE that shit istg. luck and bluff and tells and lies??? god who knows your own lies and deceit better than another version of yourself??? and yet picking up the other two's tells is oh so very hard because theyre not the same anymore than when they were all sans and sometimes they dont even know themselves so how could they pick up on a mirrored version's? it works out a lot more than they think

killer would have no disregard for what he bets. he plays unpredictably and sneakily. probably faking some emotion here and there to get the hasty (horror) confused and concerned about what he could do and then it turns out killer had a fucking ass hand yet he won??? BULLSHIT horror cries out!!!! but dust just picks up the cards on the ground and deals them again and they play another round. sometimes killer purposely loses. why? he dont know its just to throw a wild card into dust and horror's predictions and mayhaps for the reactions

dust is a dirty player he is a fucking CHEATER‼️‼️‼️ phantom paps are his eyes that he uses to spy on killer and horror's hands. would he need to even try anymore at that point when he could easily win every round? well yes because that wouldn't be a fun game and dust wants to have as much fun as he can in this game of lies. he pretends he doesn't know what horror and killer's hands are. they both know. theyre both more than aware of dust's cheating. and that's why their betting starts going against him specifically and then dust has to figure out how to bet them higher while also trying not to fuck himself over

horror's main thing is just to not get fucked over. goddamnit why did he agree to this he's not as open to getting hurt than dust or killer are!!! (but you still agreed anyways?) so he thinks he's the only one to have a real reason to win (because horror no wanna get hurty hurty owww owww painpainpain ouch!!!) maybe he gets too cocky and ends up betting too high because dust or killer had been losing and he wanted to take a chance. maybe that high bet was actually what got him to win?? it's all a game of chance of course and horror'll only show what he thinks after the round's done. when the cards are dealt and the stakes are up he'll just analyze the hell out of the two (don't YOU hate being analyzed??) and tap his fingers on the table over and over

their way of betting would be like: the winner gets to do whatever the other two said as their bets to the betters. like if dust loses and horror wins and he said he could get sucker punched horror is sucker punching the FUCK out of him. but these three argue they fight and bicker and throw gibes and taunts!!! how would they ever agree on what bets are higher and which are lower ⁉️⁉️⁉️ to horror a bet of saying that he'd have to eat something could be like straight hell to him but killer and dust could just put the argument that it doesn't REALLY mean that much (they know it does to horror) and then force him to bet higher because cmon coward you can do better than that!!! dont you want to get some sort of revenge on us if you lose a previous round and win this one??? and other forms of logic like that 4 dust and killer

killer starts off with an absurdly high bet (because he would) like getting to mess with his soul or something. is he sure that dust and horror have losing hands? he doesn't know. and because killer has no form of limit for himself and that's already a high bar to set for dust and horror to reach (if they don't have good hands i think they'd probably want killer to bet lower. but would they tell him??) so damn it horror has to pull out some bullshit fucking bet like he'll allow himself to get hunted down by the two with every trap he's ever set on a human in horrortale (sooo much more psychological thinking and trickery going on without betting money and instead scenarios its SO FUN). and then could dust fold? does phantom paps say he should? it depends on the cards dust has (and what if he doesn't believe paps based on his own assumptions? (paranoid bitch)) and if he can't fold he has to match the bet or go higher and then he comes up with some bogus situation like ok i'll let you guys dress me up in my human's clothes and throw me in an au and have to do what they did (and OH GOD what about if they make a bet that the other 2 wouldn't actually want to do if they win??? if killer won that round with that as dust's bet would he want someone to reenact something similar to what his own human did and have to watch??????)

oops they just got another new set of scars from last week's poker night and another layer of trauma but why the hell are they sitting down at the table again??? idk man i'm just the dealer here trying not to get killed

misc lore drop day 11/?

I said it in yesterday's but now I'm pondering about it more deeply. Thinking about how I said Seb would let Fernando win at random things. I guess actually it's not that he's letting him, more that he's not as upset to lose, or rather, playing a different game entirely. It's mostly because during their early relationship, that was like, the only way for Seb to witness him happy, or more accurately, without his barriers up. I think winning is the most important thing ever to both of them, above anything, and at everything. But I guess Fernando finds it a bit more dire? Like he'll prove his self worth, even if it's just a game of cards.

It's not that Seb isn't as petty or competitve, but rather that he learns he can win "more" in some cases by losing. He is willing to concede sometimes because sometimes losing means that he wins something more valuable, such as Fernando's affection or happiness. Maybe in the beginning, he was just as agressively competitve, but then noticed that every time he lost, Fernando would suddenly chill out a lot more. So on some level, even if they're just playing cards or something, Seb is playing a completely different game.

I think a lot about that one duo interview with them, where they had to compliment each other, and Seb was so quick and honest with it, but Fernando struggled and came off sounding a bit fake. At any time, they are, both consiously and subconsiously, playing that mind game with each other. If I let him win, what does that say about me. What does how I act after winning say about me.

OKAY so! Literally why didnt I think of this the first time but anywho!!

Each member of the Jellicles have their own roles, both within their respective families and the organisation as a whole. Munkustrap, as well as being the heir to his father, mainly working with the business and financial work (mainly fronts) when hes not doing any protector work.

He mainly works in the clubs he co runs with Tugger.

Tugger as forth in line to taking over for his father (behind munk and his Neices) chose he wanted to run some of the main clubs and bars they had as fronts, oftentimes letting it be an excuse for him to get involved with performing the live music. His goal for his job was to make sure they had the best entertainment to get the most amount of revenue. Munk, to his surprise, thought it was a great idea and now they work on it together!!

Misto runs the gambling rings (originally just for his family, but quickly picked up doing it for the Deuteronomys as well) (ones that are situated in munk and tuggers clubs after the jellicles were formed) since he is the undisputed champion in any card game (he can pick any card from a pack) not to mention a killer with games that involve any dice, (hes equally cunning with dice)

He uses his talents to manipulate the games he watches over in the jellicles (or whoever's playing his favourites) favor, without anyone being non the wiser!

Tugger is literally obsessed with this small cat and how he is yet to be beaten seriously at any game thrown his way!

Macavity takes all this as a personal attack, since one of his main exports came from gambling that came from his clubs. This lead to him personally challenging misto to a game of poker.

This obviously becomes the poker game of the century!

Been wondering lately if having glowing red eyes with no visible pupil would make it difficult to read DDMG Splinter's facial expressions. Like would that give him the ghost version of resting bitch face?

On the one hand, it's going to make it hard to tell where he's looking most of the time, and his eyes aren't going to show much emotion.

On the other hand, his ears and whiskers are very expressive, like they move around a lot based on his emotions and what he's thinking. They're a massive tell and I imagine it's very frustrating for Splinter as a ninjutsu master to not be able to fully control his body language.

It's also possible that when someone doesn't know him very well, they have a hard time reading his emotions, but after getting to know Splinter they realise he's a dork who wears his heart on his sleeve.

The carriage drops him at the town gates. He rifles in his pockets for his fare, suitcase balanced precariously on his wrist, though the weight of it tugs at the straps around his forearm, pinching the skin. Coins handed over, the coachman whips his reins and the chocobo trots off, leaving him alone. The letter in his inside pocket said that the maid would be at the gates on the fourteenth, and he’d squabbled quite viciously with the coachman about getting here as early as possible.

It is a stupid idea, he knows, to come. Her letters had been – they had been pleasant to read, and he had meant every word he’d penned, though it had taken some getting used to letting the words come. But there had been something so restrained about them, something so cold. She had written of their truths, of their honesty, but she had not been honest with him. He has known her too long, too – too – too well, to let it pass him by. She is hiding something.

And so, here he stands, staring at the town as it shuffles past him, ignorant of his arrival. For now, at least. It is dusty, stiflingly hot and he yanks at his necktie to try and loosen the knot he’d tied over-tight, which is what tends to happen when you don’t have any grip with one hand. He looks at his shoes, already tinged gold by the dust, and at his suitcase, suddenly seeming so small and he wonders if he is unprepared.

Do y’all know what we’re missing in the Overlord Husk AU genre?

A fic (or fics ; 3 ) where Angel goes to Overlord Husk himself to get free from Valentino.

Imagine: Angel is fed up with Valentino, the studio, the clients, the whole Valentino & Vox thing, the entirety of the Vee’s operation.

So one day, after he gets off work, Angel disguises himself, expertly swipes a pack of cards from Husk’s casino as he walks in, sweet talks his way into learning what room Husker’s in, sneaks his way into a meeting with Husker.

He takes off bits of his disguise, You know who I am?

Doesn’t everyone, kid? Your face is plastered everywhere.

Angel grins, Most everyone, but never hurts to ask.

Angel starts shuffling the deck and Husk thinks Angel wants to play a round, but Angel’s playing an entirely different game.

He tells Husker what he knows about him, his casino, how he plays in soul contracts. Doesn’t bother with his sob story, Husker knows who he is, he can put the pieces together himself. Angel pulls out the King of Hearts from the deck.

You’re the King of Souls, baby.

And what? You’re trying to become my Queen? Because I’m not interested-

No, don’t be silly, Sweetheart, I wanna be your ace.

Husk raises an eyebrow, mildly interested.

Angel starts dealing out cards for a round of poker.

Do you realize how many people can’t shut up after a night with me? It’s like their brain turns to mush or something and they can’t remember why they shouldn’t be talking ‘bout certain stuff. I know things about Overlords and their operations and their right hands and their subordinates, etc etc that no one else does.

Husker stares at Angel. He’s considering everything he’s heard.

Husk flips over his cards, he has a pair of Kings.

Angel flips over his hand to show a pair of aces.
