Cosmic Events: March 2022
A couple of important points for US followers. One, remember to file your income taxes during a void of course Moon; two, stupid fucking Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 13, at 2:00 am local time.
Void of Course Moon
Tuesday, March 1, 02:01 UT (Aquarius) - 20:53 UT (Pisces)

Thursday, March 31, 06:37 UT (Pisces) - 09:30 UT (Aries)
Lunar Phases
Wednesday, March 2, 17:35 UT - New Moon, 12:07 Pisces
Hoo boy, this one. It is conjunct Jupiter, and sextile Uranus/Taurus - a prime opportunity for us to become more tolerant and humanitarian. But this New Moon is also conjunct the Centaur Nessus, whose reputation is scary. Cycles of abuse, obsessions, bad family karma through the generations, things like that. But at Tumblr astrolovecosmos (link attached here) I found some ways to help Nessus break these cycles. For “Nessus in Pisces,” they write, “Cycles are broken by listening and following their intuition, find space to be alone and with ones self, learn healthy detachment, and seek out healers or those who have been in similar situations as them and have overcome the cycle.” Sounds like a plan….
Sunday, March 6, 09:28 UT - Crescent Moon, 0:46 Taurus
Thursday, March 10, 10:45 UT - First Quarter Moon, 19:50 Gemini
Monday, March 14, 12:56 UT - Gibbous Moon, 8:55 Leo
Friday, March 18, 07:18 UT - Full Moon, 27:40 Virgo
Monday, March 21, 19:24 UT - Disseminating Moon, 16:09 Scorpio
Friday, March 25, 05:37 UT - Last Quarter Moon, 4:33 Capricorn
Monday, March 28, 16:19 UT - Balsamic Moon, 22:57 Aquarius
Retrograde/Direct/Etc
Venus exits her post-retrograde shadow on Wednesday, March 2, 03:45 UT, at 26:28 Capricorn.
Ceres exits her post-retrograde shadow on Monday, March 28, 16:56 UT, at 12:08 Gemini.
Saturn is in his pre-retrograde shadow all month. Take good notes; you know this guy gives hard tests!
Really, this is literally a very straightforward month. The more direct among us will enjoy it. Although with Grandpa Saturn in his pre-retrograde shadow, it won’t do to get too cocky.
Ingresses
Sunday, March 6, 06:23 UT - transiting Mars enters Aquarius
Sunday, March 6, 06:30 UT - transiting Venus enters Aquarius
Thursday, March 10, 01:32 UT-transiting Mercury enters Pisces
Thursday, March 10, 18:18 UT - transiting Vesta enters Aquarius
Sunday, March 20, 15:33 UT - transiting Sun enters Aries
This is the Aries Equinox - the Sabbats called Eostar (for those of us north of the equator) and Mabon (for those of us south of the equator).
Sunday, March 27, 07:44 UT - transiting Mercury enters Aries
Opportunity Periods
Wednesday, March 2, 17:05 UT - 18:05 UT. “If you have something important to start around now, this is a great time to do it.” (This time span is 1/2 hour before, and 1/2 hour after, the New Moon.)
Tuesday, March 8, 14:04 UT - 18:40 UT. “An excellent waxing Moon OP for commerce, arts, networking, and more.”
Friday, March 18, 07:18 UT - 08:11 UT. “Productive time.”
Tuesday, March 22, 07:26 UT - 16:01 UT. “Catch this opportunity to make difficult tasks seem easy.”
Tuesday, March 29, 04:32 UT - Thursday, March 31, 09:30 UT. “Use this long OP to sort through emotions and make room on Thursday for what matters during this very fluid Balsamic Moon in Pisces.”
(There is an excellent Aries New Moon coming up for us on April Fool’s Day - excellent for, among other things, learning, as it will be conjunct Mercury, Pallas Athene, and Chiron. It’s also sextile Ceres/Gemini, and Vesta/Aquarius. So yeah, let’s get our ducks in a row!)
All data gleaned from either Llewellyn’s 2022 Daily Planetary Guide, or the Aries Nox issue of “The Mountain Astrologer.”

PAST TEACHINGS- [below are links to my past teachings that relate to today’s post ACTS 8- all verses below] https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/04/06/city-of-man/ https://ccoutreach87.com/1st-2nd-corinthians/ https://ccoutreach87.com/romans-updated-2015/ https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/01/18/acts-1/ https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/01/26/acts-2/ https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/02/02/acts-3/ https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/02/09/acts-4/ https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/03/23/acts-5/ https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/03/31/acts-6/ https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/04/06/acts-7/ https://ccoutreach87.com/protestant-reformation-luther/
(739) ACTS 8- After the death of Stephen the church scatters thru out the region. We see Phillip being used and directed by God. An angel will speak to him, he will be supernaturally translated from one place to another. We see the simple reality of all believers having Gods legitimacy to function. This is important to see! Later on we see the first gentile church at Antioch being told ‘separate me Paul and Barnabus unto the work which I have called them to’[Acts 13]. Some will develop unbiblical restrictions from this verse. The strong ‘local church’ view [the view that sees local church thru the 501c3 Sunday building mindset!] will later teach ‘see, you can’t function on your own. If you are not under a ‘local church covering’ you are an independent rebel out of Gods authority’. Here we see the simple reality of God sending and communicating to Phillip on the basis of him being a child of God. In Acts 13 the Spirit communicated his purpose to an entire group, in this chapter he communicates to an individual. The legitimacy comes from the reality of God being the one who is giving the directions! Now, we see Phillip at Samaria preaching the Kingdom and doing miracles. The sorcerer Simon gets converted. The church at Jerusalem sends Peter and John to see what’s happening and they lay hands on the Samaritan believers and they ‘receive the Holy Ghost’. This is also described as the Holy Spirit falling on them. This chapter is used as a proof text for pro Pentecostal theology and anti! The Pentecostals say ‘see, believers don’t have the Holy Spirit until a separate Baptism takes place’. The anti Charismatics say ‘this is an anomaly. God did this because he didn’t want to have a competing church in Samaria that did not have the approval of the Jerusalem church’. I will agree and disagree with both of these propositions [yes, at the same time!] Paul will teach in his epistles that it is impossible to believe without having the Spirit. He will also teach a doctrine of being filled with the Spirit. The arguments over the terms used can be confusing. The fact is we see both the experiences of believers [who have the Spirit] still experiencing greater empowerments down the road. And we see believers ‘getting it all at once’ [Acts 10]. Theologically, you can’t be born again without having the Spirit. But you can call ‘the Spirit falling on you in a fresh way’ ‘getting the Spirit’. The different expressions people use do confuse the matter. The hard and fast Charismatics will not agree with me. And the old time Calvinists might disagree with me. I believe both sides have things to add to the debate. I want all of us to be open and daily expecting God to renew us with the Spirit on a daily basis. I know one thing for sure, Paul taught we can water and plant all day. But if the Spirit doesn’t do his work we will never see any real increase! Simon the sorcerer sees that thru the laying on of hands the Spirit is given. He asks ‘Hey, I will pay you money for the gift of being able to lay hands on people and have them receive the Spirit’. Peter responds ‘you wicked sinner! How dare you think you can purchase Gods gift with money! You and your filthy money will perish together! You better pray that God forgives you for this’. Simon says ‘can you pray for me’? He didn’t want to get struck down that instant! Peter will later teach in his letters ‘take oversight of Gods flock, not for filthy lucre. But of a ready mind’. James will write in his letter ‘woe to the rich, their day is coming’. John writes in 1st John ‘love not the world neither the things in the world’. Paul will pen ‘The love of money is the root of all evil. Some went coveting after it and have left the faith’. Where in the world did all these first century Apostles get this idea from? Was it the devil tricking them out of the truth of wealth? Were they under the spell of church tradition? Lets see, Jesus said ‘the rich man dies and goes to hell. The poor man to Abrahams bosom’ ‘it’s harder for a rich man to go to heaven than for a camel to go thru the eye of a needle’ ‘the rich man went away very sad because he had much riches’ [after Jesus said go sell all you have and give to the poor] ‘you can not serve God and mammon’ ‘the deceitfulness of riches choke Gods word’ ‘thou fool! This night thy soul shall be required of thee’ [to the rich man who was planning on building more storage for his stuff!] The simple fact is the early church had imbedded in their minds a non materialistic gospel. The modern church seems to read scripture thru the lens of the prosperity promises that you do find thru out scripture. The prosperity promises are true and should be understood, but we need to also see the reality of what I just showed you. The church will eventfully coin the phrase ‘Simony’. It will refer to those who use money to gain influence and official positions in the church. Simons name does becomes famous, but not in the way he wanted! [parts] I mentioned Gnosticism on today’s post- below are my past teachings on it-
PLATO
Plato was born in 427 BC- he was the most famous student of Socrates.
He is best known for his theory of Ideas/Forms.
He believed that the material world was an imperfect copy of the Idea world. That is he believed that Ideas exist apart from the construct of the human mind- that they were the perfect forms of the things we see in the material realm.
He could also be referred to as a Realist- because he believed these Ideas actually existed [for real]. Where did he get this from? As we study Philosophy- each one that comes down the line has been influenced in some way by those that preceded them.
There was a famous thinker- Pythagoras [his followers were the Pythagoreans] who taught a concept called the Transmigration of the Soul [a sort of Reincarnation]. They believed that the soul of man went thru various stages- and existed independently of the body.
In Greek thought the soul is immortal- it exists before the body. In Christian teaching the Soul [mind- Spirit] comes into existence when God creates man [the bible says ‘and man BECAME a living soul’- referring to the creation of Adam].
The Greeks saw the soul as preexisting before the natural life.
In the mind of Plato- the body was a receptacle- in this life we recollect the knowledge that comes from the Idea world.
He ascribed Ontological status to ideas themselves.
In Philosophy there are 2 basic ways knowledge comes [we study this in Epistemology- an offshoot of Philosophy- which deals with how we know things].
A Priori knowledge is knowledge obtained independent of experience. A Posteriori is knowledge obtained thru the senses- what we call Empirical evidence.
In Plato’s schema he believed that the knowledge that comes to us from the Formal world [ideas- forms] was A Priori knowledge- that the human mind recalls- and in the present material world- knowledge comes to us from the perfect idea world.
The Greeks believed that all matter was flawed- that the Body was an imperfect vessel- and after death we are released into the perfect world- and free from the material realm.
Christian Tradition does not hold to this view. The Church teaches that the created world is good- not evil. Among Christians there is some confusion about this- because the older versions of the bible [King James] seem to teach that matter [world, flesh] is evil.
Why?
Paul the apostle talks about no good thing being in The Flesh- he talks about the Carnal mind- the apostle John says ‘all that is in the World- the lust of the flesh- the pride of life- is not of the Father but is of the world’.
There are many references like this in the bible- but they are speaking about the sinful nature of man [the flesh] and not about the human body itself [For instance Paul says in Romans ‘present your BODIES as living sacrifices unto God- Holy and acceptable’ in Corinthians ‘your BODY is the temple of the Holy Spirit’- there are many references in scripture that speak of the Body as Holy.
When the bible says ‘satan is the god of this world’ it is not speaking of the earth- which God created- and calls GOOD- but it is speaking of the ‘world’ system- an age of wickedness.
So- at times Christians have confused this- and have held a sort of Dualistic view of matter- that is not the biblical view- but a Gnostic view- that all matter is evil.
Plato saw the unseen world of Ideas as the perfect- pure world.
He taught that in this life we obtain the knowledge of the pure- by reason of recollection- that these pure ideas come to us ‘are recalled’ in this life.
He is famous for founding the first Philosophical school- it was called The Academy- named after a man by the name of Academus.
The land was donated for the school- it was previously used as an Olive Grove- and in honor of the donation- Plato named the school after the donor.
This is why we use the phrase ‘The Groves of Academia’ today.
Plato was actually a nick name- he wrestled in Athens- in a sort of precursor to what would later become the Olympic games- and he was broad shouldered- that’s where his name comes from- Plato means broad shouldered.
So- to sum up- Plato believed that Forms [ideas] were eternal, the cause of all that is. He believed we are born with innate ideas- these are not learned thru sense experience- but exist independently of the mind- and in this bodily life we retrieve [the body is a receptacle] these ideas.
Does the bible teach anything along these lines?
Not exactly.
Christians believe that God himself is infinite- without beginning or end. That wisdom- ideas- ‘forms’ of things do indeed exist- prior to our own life.
But these ideas are not without a Mind- God is Spirit- and he is everywhere [Omnipresent] he knows all tings [Omniscient] – so- in a way- there are indeed ideas- forms- but they come from the ultimate Mind of God.
A good example would be the building of the Tabernacle- and later the Temple- under Moses and King David [his son Solomon actually built it].
God told Moses ‘see that you build it after the Pattern shown to thee in the mount’. In the book of Hebrews we read that the earthly Tabernacle [Temple] was simply an image- a symbol- of heavenly realities.
That God himself had the ‘form’ in his mind- indeed- like Plato taught- the heavenly form is perfect- the earthly expression imperfect.
But these patterns- forms- ideas- are from the Mind of God- they are not Innate in the soul of man- nor does the soul of man exist before his birth. In the past few months I have had several Christian friends tell me that they feel like they existed before this life- a type of reincarnation.
I explained to them that in the Christian faith we do not hold to this view.
But- the bible does tell us that God had a purpose for us- Predetermined- before the ‘foundation of the world’.
Meaning that yes- in the Mind of God- in a way- we did exist- but we did not have actual being [called Ontological status in the field of Philosophy] until we were created by God.
God’s purpose for us was already in the Mind of God before our birth.
The bible says that Christ is made unto us wisdom- we are not Receptacles in the sense that Plato taught.
But yes- in time God reveals to us this Hidden Wisdom- about his love and purpose for us.
And in this life we act out- we fulfil this eternal purpose.
Man [or woman] can never find true happiness- true meaning- until they tap into this purpose. We were created by the hand of God- to bring glory and honor to him- and we in this life can ever find true fulfilment- until we make it back to God. The catch phrase for it was ‘Ad Fontes’ meaning ‘back to the sources’- both in philosophy- as well as in Christian learning. This began a revival of studying the Greek New testament again from its original language. The Catholic Humanist- Desiderius Erasmus [15-16th century] – re introduced the New Testament in the Greek version [He was referred to as a Dutch renaissance Humanist- as well as a Catholic Priest and scholar] Now- Erasmus was a critic of the Church- like Luther- but chose a ‘middle road’- he did not join the breakaway Protestant Reformers- but chose to stay within the fold of Rome- while speaking out against the abuses he saw. But his first Greek translation of the New Testament did indeed set a spark- because it allowed the Priests to see the bible in its original language. And Luther was actually teaching this book of Romans to his students in Germany when the Reformation began. Today the Catholic Church [as you can see in the official Catechism that I have been posting] does indeed teach the bible as God’s Word. The divisions between Protestants and Catholics are many- but they did agree that the bible was the Word of God. Some Protestants do not know this- they think the church holds Tradition higher than the bible. No- the church does believe that God speaks both thru tradition- and scripture. They see the tradition of the church as simply another means by which God uses the church [Magisterium] to explain scripture- but the Catholic Church does not elevate tradition over the bible. And indeed- it was a catholic scholar- Erasmus- who introduced the first Geek version of the New Testament. NOTE- Erasmus disagreed with Luther on the doctrine of Predestination- which I covered in the last video. Luther was for it- Erasmus was what we would call ‘Free Will’. In his writings- which were very influential- he wrote in Greek and Latin- the language of the elites. He did this on purpose- for his target was the influential leaders of the Church. He rejected offers of money- because he did not want to align himself with any particular movement- so he could be an independent writer with no strings attached. He had many criticisms of the Catholic Church- and was very influential for the later reforms- those we see at the Council of Trent [Though the church criticized him- they said he ‘Laid the egg that hatched the Reformation’]. He taught that the church/priests/popes should be the servants of the people- He rejected the idea that the Priests/leaders made up the ‘whole of the church’- but he believed all believers made up the true church. Erasmus was a firebrand in his own way- rejecting the language that Luther and some of the reformers used [they were vulgar at times]- Luther respected the works of Erasmus- he thanked Erasmus for debating with him on the nature of Justification by Faith- He disagreed in the end- but said this debate was at the heart of the gospel- and was glad that Erasmus was willing to engage.
RENAISSANCE ARTISTS- The famous renaissance artists- DaVinci- Michelangelo- Raphael- used their artwork as a form of knowledge- the images taught things- they were not just paintings. DaVinci’s most famous work was his painting on the ceiling of the Sistine chapel in the Vatican. It took him 4 years to complete. The renaissance period- from about the 13/14th century to the 17th- [though there was a sort of Renaissance that took place- yes- in the Islamic world before the European Renaissance] was marked by what we term Humanism. Today we associate this term with ‘secular Humanism’ which often has a bad connotation- especially among Christians. But it meant something different back then. It was a new focus on breaking the limits off of man- and for man to excel in knowledge and skill- and to see man as having value. There was somewhat of a break away from the church in a sense- in that the church and its teachings were not the only source of wisdom for man. But- Jesus himself taught that ‘the Sabbath was made for man- not man for the Sabbath’- so- the Humanist spirit- elevating the value of man- does have a Christian basis in my view. Leonardo daVinci [15/16th century] was what we refer to as a true Renaissance man- meaning his knowledge was in many fields- not just art. He actually considered himself a sculptor first- then an artist- though he is most famous for his Fresco mentioned above. [ˈsaɪ.mə.ni] or [ˈsɪ.mə.ni]) is the act of selling church offices and roles. The practice is named after Simon Magus,[1] who is described in the Acts of the Apostles 8:9–24 as having offered two disciples of Jesus, Peter and John, payment in exchange for their empowering him to impart the power of the Holy Spirit to anyone on whom he would place his hands. The term also extends to other forms of trafficking for money in “spiritual things”.[2][3] Simony was also one of the important issues during the Investiture Controversy. Wikipedia . [1770] TREASURY OF MERIT
Let’s pick up where we left off 2 posts back. We were talking about Martin Luther and the events that led up to the Protestant Reformation.
In order to understand the key act that caused the protest- we will have to teach some Catholic history/doctrine.
In the 16th century Pope Julius began the effort to build St. Peters basilica in Rome. He got as far as laying the foundation and died. Pope Leo the 10th would pick up after him.
The church needed to raise money for the project- and the German prince- Albert- would play a major role.
It should be noted that both Catholic and Protestant scholars agree that the Popes of the day were pretty corrupt. They came from what we call the Medici line of Popes.
If you remember last month I wrote a post on the Renaissance- I talked about the Medici family and how they played a major role in supporting the Renaissance that took place in the 13th century in Florence Italy that would spread to the region.
Well this very influential family also played a big role in who would get top positions in the church.
At the time of Luther and prince Albert- if you had the right connections and the money- you could literally buy a position in the church.
Albert already held 2 Bishop seats- and there was an opening for an Archbishops seat in Mainz [Germany] and he wanted that one too. [overblog- see the rest here- https://ccoutreach87.com/2017/01/24/galatians-5/ ]
It should be noted that official Canon law [church law] said you could only hold one seat at a time- Albert was bidding on his 3rd one! And he was too young for all of them.
So even the Pope and the officials held little respect for what the church actually taught at the time.
So Albert opens up negotiations with Leo- and the bidding starts AT 12,000 Duckets [money] Albert counters with 7,000- and they agree on 10,000. How did they justify the numbers? 12- The number of Apostles. 7- The 7 deadly sins. 10- The 10 commandments.
Yes- the church was pretty corrupt at the time.
So Albert works out a plan with Leo- he will borrow the money from the German banks- and pay the banks off by the Pope giving Albert the right to sell Indulgences.
What’s an Indulgence?
Okay- this is where it gets tricky.
The ancient church taught a system called The Treasury of Merit. This was a sort of spiritual bank account that ‘stored up’ the good deeds of others over the years.
You had the good deeds of Jesus at the top- but you also had Mary and Joseph- the 12 Apostles- and other various saints thru out time.
The way the ‘bank’ worked was you could tap into the account by getting a Papal indulgence- a sort of I.O.U. that had the Popes guarantee that it would get so much time out of Purgatory for a loved one.
The actual sacrament that accesses the account is called Penance [confession].
When a penitent does penance- he confesses his sin to the priest- and he is absolved by the authority of the church that the priest has. The priest usually tells the person ‘say so many Hail Mary’s- Our Father’s’ and that’s a form of penance.
One of the other things the church practiced was called Alms Deeds. This term is found in the bible and it means giving your money to the poor- it is a noble act that Jesus himself taught.
In theory- part of the sacrament of penance was tied into Alms Deeds- you can access the account thru the practice of giving to the poor- which also meant giving to the church that helps the poor- and in the hands of the Medici line of Popes- meant outright giving money to the Pope.
So now you see how the abuse worked its way into the pockets of the faithful.
Albert now had the permission from Leo to sell these indulgences in Germany- and he would pick a certain corrupt priest to sell them in a place called Saxony- the region where Luther operated out of.
It should be noted that the Catholic Church never taught the crass act of ‘buying your way out of Purgatory’. The practice of including giving money as a part of the sacrament of penance was tied into the biblical principle of giving to the poor- a good thing.
But Tetzel and others abused the official meaning of the indulgence- and did make it sound like you could by your way out of Purgatory [in theory- a loved one might be in Purgatory for so many years- and through the indulgence you are actually getting time off for them- because the good deeds of others are now applied to the account].
The money Albert would raise- half would go to Rome for the building of St. peters- and half would go to pay off the banks in Germany- it was a sad system- and a sad time for the church as a whole.
It would be wrong to judge the entire church at the time as being corrupt- you did have many sincere Priests and Catholic men and women who saw the abuses and did not take part in them.
But there was corruption at the top- and this would eventually lead to the breakup of the church- and the launching of what we now call the Protestant Movement.
As a side note- it should be said that many Catholics and Protestants are not aware of the whole treasury of merit system- and the church never officially changed her position on the doctrine.
There were 3 Church councils since the time [Trent- 1500’s, Vatican 1- 1800’s and Vatican 2- 1962-65]. The Treasury of Merit never came up for change.
Obviously Protestants don’t believe in Purgatory- and it’s not my purpose in these posts to change Catholics into Protestants or vice versa- but to give all sides a clear view of the issues that divided us- and to try and be honest- and respectful during the process.
Does the bible teach anything like a Treasury of Merit? Well actually it does. The bible teaches that the righteousness of Christ is the treasury that people can access- by faith- and become righteous in the sight if God.
The idea- applied to Christ- is good.
But in the hands of the Medici Popes- and the ambitious prince of Germany- it would lead to disaster.
[parts] The writings of Aristotle would be discovered again during the time of Thomas Aquinas [13th century Catholic genius/scholar] and this would lead to Scholasticism [a peculiar school of thought developed/revived under Aquinas] and give rise to the Renaissance.
Okay- before the birth of Christ- the Jewish people resisted the imposing of Greek culture upon them- you had the very famous resistance under the Jewish Maccabean revolt- where the Jews rose up and fought the wicked ruler Antiochus Epiphanies- and till this day the Jewish people celebrate this victory at Hanukah.
Eventually Rome would conquer the Greek kingdom and the Jewish people were allowed to keep their culture and temple- yet they were still a people oppressed. Hassidism [getting back to the beginning] [parts]

Acts 8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. Acts 8:2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. Acts 8:3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. Acts 8:4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. Acts 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. Acts 8:6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. Acts 8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. Acts 8:8 And there was great joy in that city. Acts 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: Acts 8:10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. Acts 8:11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Acts 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Acts 8:19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Acts 8:21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Acts 8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Acts 8:23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. Acts 8:24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me. Acts 8:25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. Acts 8:26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. Acts 8:27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Acts 8:28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Acts 8:29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. Acts 8:30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? Acts 8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. Acts 8:32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: Acts 8:33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. Acts 8:34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Acts 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea. Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. Isaiah 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. Isaiah 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Tad Cook, K7RA, Seattle, reports: Average daily sunspot numbers declined this week from 17.9 to 11.9. Why? Because on the final 2 days of the March 25 – 31 reporting week sunspots disappeared. That’s right. We’re back to the blank sun again, unfortunately.
Spaceweather.com reported on Wednesday that we may soon see a potential sunspot that’s currently on the far side of our sun.
Average daily solar flux dropped from 78.6 to 77.4. Geomagnetic indicators softened as well, with average daily planetary A index declining from 13.3 to 8.9, and middle latitude A index from 10.4 to 7.7.
Predicted solar flux over the next month does not look promising, with values way down in the 70s, although this forecast improved some over the past couple of days. Expect 10.7-centimeter flux at 73 on April 2 – 3; 71 on April 4 – 9; 73 on April 10 – 13; 74 on April 14 – 16; 76 on April 17 – 24; 75 on April 25 – 27; 74 and 73 on April 28 – 29, and 72 on April 30 – May 5.
Predicted planetary A index is 5 on April 2 – 5; 8 on April 6 – 7; 5, 10, and 20 on April 8 – 10; 5 on April 11 – 15; 20 and 18 on April 16 – 17; 8 on April 18 – 19; 5 on April 20 – 21; 8 on April 22 – 24; 12 on April 25; 8 on April 26 – 27; 5 on April 28 – 30; 8 on May 1 – 2; 5 on May 3 – 4, and 12 on May 5 – 7.
Here’s the geomagnetic activity forecast for April 2 – 27 from OK1HH. The geomagnetic field will be:
quiet on April 12 – 13, 24 – 26
quiet to unsettled on April 5, 14, 23
quiet to active on April (2 – 7, 15, 20 – 22, 27)
unsettled to active April (8, 11, 18 – 19)
active to disturbed April (9 – 10,) 16 – 17
Solar wind will intensify on April 3, (4-5, 8-9,) 10-11, (12, 16-17,) 18, (19-22, 27)
Parentheses mean lower probability of activity enhancement. Predictability of changes remains very low, as there are  ambiguous and quickly changing indications.
This article in The Irish Times asks, “Was space weather the cause of the Titanic disaster?”
NN4X reported a 15-meter long path opening to Asia: “Nice opening to Asia here in Central Florida on the morning of April 1.
“On FT8, I worked BA7LP, YD7ACD, BG7PHA, and VR2VLY, and heard 9V1PL and BD7LMA.
“It was very concentrated. Note, no JA/HL/DU. Typically, I’ve been seeing more YBs than anything on 15-meter LP, but certainly not today.”
Many years ago we reported in this bulletin the results JQ2UOZ was getting running one-half watt using simple wire antennas on his apartment balcony. Check out his blog.
Another blast from the past on flares and CMEs:
This article in The Conversation discusses, “Why we need to get better at predicting space weather.”
The Carrington Event, mentioned in this article, “Extreme solar storms may be more frequent than previously thought,” continues to fascinate.
AL7LO has a collection of his favorite ARRL Propagation Bulletins, and he shared this one from 8 years ago.
Sunspot numbers for March 25 – 31 were 24, 24, 11, 11, 13, 0, and 0, with a mean of 11.9. The 10.7-centimeter flux was 78.8, 79.6, 80.4, 75.1, 74.4, 79.5, and 73.8, with a mean of 77.4. Estimated planetary A indices were 18, 12, 9, 6, 4, 3, and 10, with a mean of 8.9. Middle latitude A index was 18, 11, 7, 4, 3, 4, and 7, with a mean of 7.7.

As Trump Declared Coronavirus Under Control, Local Leaders Faced Confusion And Chaos As Cases Piled Up
By Nicole Dungca, Jenn Abelson, John Sullivan | Published March 29, 2020 | Washington Post | Posted March 29, 2020
As a mysterious respiratory illness tore through China and other countries in mid-January, Kyle Coleman, an emergency management coordinator in Texas, took inventory of his team’s personal protective gear at a warehouse in Bexar County.
The hazmat suits and gloves were in good condition. Some of the respirator masks had expired. Three pallets of hand sanitizer seemed like enough because they seldom used more than one pallet a year.
Over several weeks in January, Coleman followed the outbreak of the novel coronavirus: the first death reported in China on Jan. 11, the spread to Thailand and Japan, and then the first U.S. case in Washington confirmed on Jan. 21.
The next day, President Trump, in an interview on CNBC, assured the public: “We have it totally under control.”
But Coleman thought it was only a matter of time before it arrived in Bexar County, home to nearly 2 million residents, including those in the city of San Antonio. So on Jan. 23, Coleman purchased another 25,000 respirator masks.
“You would read one story one day, and then you get another story the next day, and it wasn’t the same message coming out,” Coleman said. “But it kind of looked like it was bad so we started ordering supplies.”
Coleman’s decision to order more masks while they were still available would prove critical. His action was part of a patchwork mobilization by some local emergency management and public health officials to fight the virus even as Trump publicly downplayed its emerging threat.
In mid-January in New York, Westchester County officials identified staff that would need personal protective equipment. On Jan. 21, state officials in Tallahassee placed orders for masks, gowns and respirators. On Jan. 27, San Francisco ramped up its emergency operations center. In other communities nationwide, emergency management officials dusted off pandemic plans that had been in place since the 2009 outbreak of H1N1.
Across the country, state and local officials, frustrated by what they described as a lack of leadership in the White House and an absence of consistent guidance from federal agencies, took steps on their own to prepare for the pandemic and protect their communities. In some cases, these actions preceded federal directives by days or even weeks as local officials sifted through news reports and other sources of information to educate themselves about the risks posed by the coronavirus.
In other instances, cities and counties wrestled with how to handle individuals who tested positive or were placed under mandatory quarantine, and in the end, who was going to pay for it all. With scant information about the virus and no warnings against large gatherings, cities such as New Orleans moved ahead in February with massive celebrations that may have turned them into hotspots for the virus.
The Post interviewed 33 emergency managers, public health officials, local leaders and consultants in 14 communities across the country. Some local officials defended the federal government’s response, saying it was hard to anticipate the size and scope of the risk.
“It’s real hard to criticize what they were doing because this is new for everybody,” said Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, a Republican. “And it’s really hard to be a leader and make those tough decisions, and nobody predicted that we’d be where we are now.”
Officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not respond to messages seeking comment.
Judd Deere, a spokesman for the White House, said the president took “decisive action” to close borders, expand testing and accelerate the development of a vaccine.
“This President has taken an unmatched approach to communicating and working with our Nation’s Governors and local officials to guarantee they have the resources they need and the ability to make the best on-the-ground decisions for their communities,” he wrote in a statement.
Now, New York and other cities are beset by a growing number of infected people, a shortage of supplies and strained hospitals. These are the harsh realities that local emergency responders and public health officials had feared from the start.
“The leader in global pandemics and protecting the United States starts at the federal level,” said Nick Crossley, the director of emergency management in Hamilton County, Ohio, and past president of the U.S. Council of International Association of Emergency Managers
He praised Republican Gov. Mike DeWine for taking bold steps early, including declaring a state of emergency when there were only three reported cases on March 9, four days before the federal government followed suit. Thirty states had declared a state of emergency by the time Trump declared a national emergency on March 13.
“They didn’t move fast enough,” said Crossley, of the federal government. “And what you’ve seen is more local and state officials sounding the alarm.
“We needed a national response to this event.”
TALLAHASSEE
(*Jan. 30: 8,234 cases worldwide, 5 cases in U.S.)
On Jan. 30, Alan Petty, a retired National Guard colonel, made a surprise visit to Florida’s emergency command center, a stout one-story building in Tallahassee designed to withstand the state’s frequent hurricanes.
Workers at the command center were gearing up operations for the Super Bowl in Miami, which was just a few days away. But Petty, who had spent 26 years in the state’s National Guard and had overseen its emergency response efforts, had other plans.
Petty had been keeping tabs on the coronavirus as it ricocheted around the world. He knew the virus would likely strike Florida soon. As a consultant, Petty conducted “Thunderbolt” surprise drills for the state’s emergency responders.
At the command center, he gathered officials around a large table in a conference room and laid out a doomsday scenario: An employee participates in an IT conference in California with more than 1,000 attendees from across the globe. After returning to work in the command center, the employee falls ill with the coronavirus, potentially contaminating the facility.
Petty, 59, told state officials that they had to figure out how to run the command center remotely. Could emergency personnel use their home Internet to order safety equipment, set up mobile hospitals and send nurses to hard-hit areas?
Officials spent three hours war-gaming how they would respond. The drill prompted the state to send 300 employees home early to test their remote work capability. That unmasked a serious problem: A quarter of the team could not perform their jobs at home because they needed access to secure computer systems.
“That’s why you do simulations,” said Jared Moskowitz, director of Florida’s Division of Emergency Management, who said they later fixed the problem.
After the drill that day, Petty climbed into his truck and began the three-hour drive to his home in St. Augustine. He turned on the radio and thought about his adult sons, one of whom is a firefighter. Then he heard the news: The United States had identified its first case of person-to-person transmission involving someone who had not traveled overseas. Also, the World Health Organization classified the coronavirus as a public health emergency of international concern.
“I knew this was going to happen,” Petty said, “but I had no idea it would happen the same day.”
CHICAGO
(*Jan. 31: 9,927 cases worldwide, 7 cases in U.S.)
With seven reported infections in the United States by the end of the day, HHS Secretary Alex Azar declared a public health emergency on Jan. 31, and Trump announced strict travel restrictions, barring most foreign visitors coming from China. He also imposed the nation’s first mandatory quarantine in 50 years.
Americans who had visited China's Hubei province would be forced to quarantine for 14 days and those who visited other parts of China would be screened for symptoms and asked to isolate themselves for two weeks.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was caught off guard. The directive came with little guidance. Where were local governments supposed to quarantine the travelers? What would they do if someone refused to quarantine? Who was going to pay for the resources needed to quarantine people?
“In the first few sets of conversations, we were not hearing answers to those questions,” Lightfoot, a Democrat, said of her talks with federal officials. “It was kind of like, either silence, or ‘Do the best you can,’ which was obviously not acceptable.”
On Sunday, hours before the Super Bowl, she locked herself in her home office, away from her 12-year-old and barking dog, to host a conference call with other big-city mayors and their staffers. For more than 45 minutes, they vented about a lack of federal direction and questioned whether they would be reimbursed for their efforts.
“We didn’t have a sense of how the numbers were going to look like, how we could actually operationalize it,” Lightfoot said.
So she drafted a letter to Trump on behalf of mayors from Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. They insisted on clear, written directions from the federal government, according to the letter, and worried about diverting health care resources during flu season, when hospitals were already stretched.
“We are concerned about our public health system’s capacity to implement these measures, recognizing they may inadvertently distract us from our ongoing tried-and-true efforts to isolate confirmed cases and closely monitor their contacts,” according to a previously unreported Feb. 6 letter. “We also worry about the potential to again overwhelm laboratory capacity, recognizing that national capacity has not been adequate to quickly test our highest-risk individuals.”
SAN FRANCISCO
(*Feb. 4: 23,892 cases worldwide, 11 cases in U.S.)
In San Francisco, city leaders were on high alert, but wanted to avoid panic.
So far, San Francisco had no reported cases of the coronavirus, but Lunar New Year celebrations were in full swing and sick passengers were likely traveling back and forth to San Francisco. The city had already ramped up its emergency operations center, one of the country’s first to fully mobilize for the coronavirus.
On Feb. 4, city officials gathered with dozens of Chinatown leaders at City College of San Francisco’s Chinatown campus to assuage fears, tamp down growing xenophobia and combat misinformation spreading on social media.
Grant Colfax, the director of the city’s public health department, and his colleagues ticked through a presentation. One slide cautioned everyone about the lack of information: “The issue is evolving quickly. There is still a lot that we don’t know.”
But they stressed that the risk of contracting the virus remained low at that moment for Bay Area residents. The city’s large Lunar New Year parade would go on as planned, and schools would remain open.
The community leaders were calm, but their questions revealed growing anxieties — how could they keep kids safe in schools? Should they be wearing protective masks?
Healthy people do not need masks, city officials explained, and they should be reserved for individuals with symptoms or medical professionals.
Colfax referred to the illness as the novel coronavirus, unlike Trump and some media outlets, which had been calling it the “Wuhan virus” or “Chinese virus.” Colfax, a gay man who had gone to medical school during the AIDS crisis, worried about the stigma and xenophobia surrounding the coronavirus — it reminded him of how the gay community had once been blamed for AIDS.
The Bay Area’s Asian community was already a target of abuse because of the disease’s explosion in China. In late January, the University of California at Berkeley apologized for a post on its health center’s Instagram that listed “xenophobia” and fears of interacting with Asian people as a “normal reaction” to concerns about the coronavirus.
“We know that xenophobia, stigma and discrimination are exactly the sorts of things that impede a response to an epidemic because they drive the very communities [we need to work with] underground,” Colfax said in an interview.
MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.
(*Feb. 9: 40,150 cases worldwide, 11 cases in U.S.)
In Westchester County, health commissioner Sherlita Amler was grappling with the fallout from the CDC’s airport screenings. She only received about 48 hours notice that she needed to house an individual who had recently traveled to China and landed at JFK. The person had no symptoms but was instructed to quarantine and had no place to stay.
Hotels were out of the question. Apartment buildings were not ideal because of shared common space like elevators. Eventually, Amler identified a property the county owned in a rural area and dispatched staff to Target and Bed Bath & Beyond to stock up on dishes, towels, sheets, food, television — anything and everything a person could need for 14 days.
Before the first traveler arrived on Feb. 10, Amler stayed up until midnight spreading white sheets on the bed. A colleague from the county’s technology office hooked up the Internet to support video software so the health staff could check in with the quarantined individual to make sure she was safe.
Weeks earlier, Amler had started fitting employees for personal protective equipment and training them on how to use the gear. In January, she watched what was happening in Wuhan with growing concern: “It seemed impossible that it wouldn’t eventually spill out of China into the rest of the world.”
By mid-February, Amler had one quarantined individual in a county property. The person had tested negative for covid-19, the disease caused by the virus, and her team was monitoring more than two dozen other people in their homes, ensuring they had food, medication and access to medical care if needed.
“Most of the time, we know the natural course of the disease. We know how long you’re incubating. We know at what point you are no longer infectious to others,” Amler said. “But with covid-19, we’re just now figuring those things out.”
With so little information on the illness, it was unlike any other outbreak she had ever confronted. The 64-year-old doctor had served as health commissioner since 2011 and handled various crises, including H1N1, Zika and measles.
Following guidance from the CDC, Westchester and other municipalities were advising residents to wash their hands and stay away from sick people who were coughing or sneezing.
“Do what you would to protect yourself from the flu,” the county advised in a Feb. 18 news release.
SAN FRANCISCO
(*Feb. 24: 79,561 cases worldwide, 51 cases in U.S.)
Trump continued to reassure the public that there was little to worry about. On Feb. 24, he tweeted, “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA.”
But Colfax and his public health staff in San Francisco were seeing something else when they studied the “curves” of the pandemic — graphs showing how many cases were reported in other regions over time.
Wuhan’s curve was climbing exponentially, and other countries, such as Italy, was seeing soaring infection rates as well. Colfax noticed that in every infected region, officials were more and more aggressive about restricting their populations.
“It became apparent that no jurisdiction that was where the virus was being introduced, was sort of, in retrospect, thinking, ‘Oh, we overreacted,’ ” Colfax said.
On Feb. 24, Colfax and other health officials assembled their research and met with Mayor London Breed. They made an urgent request: Declare a state of emergency.
“Whoa, hold on,” Breed, a Democrat, remembered thinking. “Wait a minute. Do we have to go this far?”
The California counties of San Diego and Santa Clara already had declared a state of emergency earlier in the month, but both had confirmed coronavirus cases within their borders. San Francisco still had no cases.
Breed considered the economic damage it could wreak on the city: Chinatown was already a ghost town, and local hotels and restaurants could lose business if people thought there was an emergency in San Francisco.
But by the end of the meeting, Breed was convinced. They needed to declare a state of emergency so that they could tap into state and federal funds and supplies, and redeploy city employees. The next day, San Francisco became one of the first major cities in the United States to do so, after Santa Clara and San Diego counties did earlier in the month.
It would take another 17 days, as the virus infected people in nearly every state, before Trump declared a national emergency.
“We see the virus spreading in new parts of the world every day, and we are taking the necessary steps to protect San Franciscans from harm,” she said at a news conference announcing the decision.
But in some cities, little had changed.
In New Orleans, officials moved ahead with Mardi Gras festivities in late February that packed people into the streets. It was a decision the mayor would later defend as coronavirus cases traced to the celebration piled up.
“No red flags were given,” by the federal government, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, a Democrat, later said in a CNN interview. “If we were given clear direction, we would not have had Mardi Gras, and I would’ve been the leader to cancel it.”
On Feb. 27, at a White House reception, Trump predicted that the coronavirus would disappear.
“Like a miracle,” he said.
SAN ANTONIO
(*Feb. 29: 86,011 cases worldwide, 68 cases in U.S.)
The last day of February marked a major turning point for the coronavirus in the United States: the first American who had been diagnosed with the illness died.
In a Saturday news conference, Trump described the patient from the Seattle area as a “medically high-risk” person who had died overnight. A CDC official said that the man, who was in his 50s, had not traveled recently — another sign that the virus was snaking through local communities.
During the announcement, Trump asked the media to avoid inciting panic as there was “no reason to panic at all.”
“We’re doing really well,” he said. “Our country is prepared for any circumstance. We hope it’s not going to be a major circumstance, it’ll be a smaller circumstance. But whatever the circumstance is, we’re prepared.”
That same afternoon in San Antonio, the CDC mistakenly released a woman from quarantine who was infected with the coronavirus. The woman was one of dozens of evacuees from Wuhan whom the federal government had brought to a nearby military base and then isolated at the Texas Center for Infectious Disease.
The woman first tested negative for the coronavirus, had a second inconclusive test and then tested negative again. She was tested a fourth time by the hospital without the CDC’s knowledge, but was released before the results showed she had the virus.
By then, the woman had been dropped off at a Holiday Inn near the San Antonio airport and headed to a local mall where she shopped at Dillard’s, Talbots and Swarovski and ate in the food court.
The next morning, Coleman, Bexar County’s emergency management coordinator, got a call from the regional health authority about what had happened.
Shocked, he immediately called his boss, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff.
“Damn,” Wolff responded, seething with anger.
Wolff had written a letter several days earlier raising concerns about the risks of moving evacuees off the military base.
As local officials learned details about the infected woman’s movements and how she had been transported at 2 a.m. back to the Texas Center for Infectious Disease, they waited for the CDC to issue a statement. Hours passed, but they heard nothing.
“They were like quiet little mouses,” Wolff said. “They were all scared to talk because I think they felt they were going to get in trouble with the president of the United States because he was saying there was not a problem.”
The next day, San Antonio officials declared a public health emergency and filed a lawsuit to prevent the CDC from releasing the 120 people in quarantine until they were confirmed negative for the virus or completed a 28-day quarantine. A judge denied the motion, but the CDC agreed that evacuees must have two consecutive negative tests that are 24 hours apart, and no one with a pending test can be released.
Coleman and his team again took stock of the emergency supplies. He wished they had ordered more hand sanitizer: In less than two months, they had plowed through what they normally use in a year.
When he tried to order more masks, none were immediately available. By then the entire country was scrambling for protective gear.
MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.
(*March 3: 92,840 cases worldwide, 118 cases in U.S.)
Westchester County’s health commissioner was sleeping when the phone rang at 1 a.m. with the news she had been dreading: The county’s first positive case of the coronavirus involved a man from New Rochelle, who was hospitalized.
Amler and the health department quickly traced his steps and put the man’s wife and family under quarantine. They learned he had attended services at Young Israel of New Rochelle on Feb. 22, and a funeral and bat mitzvah at the temple on Feb. 23.
At the direction of state authorities, Amler instructed Young Israel to immediately halt all services and told congregants who attended the same services or events during those two days that they must self-quarantine until March 8.
Within days, state authorities set up an emergency operations center in New Rochelle and created a one-mile containment zone. Inside the perimeter, schools and community centers shuttered and large gatherings were prohibited.
Through it all, local officials faced backlash from some community leaders who thought they were overreacting.
“Having to make those initial decisions and helping people make those initial decisions is never easy,” Amler said.
She also worried about her public health colleagues, many of whom had families and were putting themselves at risk. Amler thought about her husband, a physician, their six children and six granddaughters.
“This is not a sprint,” Amler told her staff. “We’re in a marathon. We just have to kind of work together and support each other and get through this.”
SAN FRANCISCO
(*March 5: 97,886 cases worldwide, 217 cases in U.S.)
Days after San Francisco’s emergency declaration, Breed stood in front of news cameras to announce the city’s first two cases of the coronavirus.
“We have been planning this for weeks, and so we are prepared as a city,” she said.
Colfax stepped up to the podium inside City Hall and put on his glasses to read from a statement about the two patients. One was a man in his 90s, who was in serious condition, and the other was a woman in her 40s, who was in fair condition.
They were not related, had not traveled to any coronavirus-affected areas and had no contact with known coronavirus patients: It was spreading in the community.
By then, Miami Mayor Francis X. Suarez, a Republican, had announced the cancellation of Ultra Music festival, a three-day celebration that draws about 50,000 people. Miami was the first city to call off a major music festival, and Suarez faced tremendous backlash.
“I’m really reluctant to downplay this when I’ve seen what a city can go through during a hurricane when it’s without power for eight or nine days,” Suarez said.
In Oklahoma City, the coronavirus became a reality for Mayor David Holt, a Republican, when the NBA abruptly canceled a Thunder basketball game after a Utah Jazz player tested positive for covid-19 on March 11. Until then, Holt said, the coronavirus felt “distant on many levels.”
Days later, Holt huddled on the phone with other leaders from the United States Conference of Mayors. For about 20 minutes, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, a Democract, detailed the crisis seizing her city.
“She sounded like the main character in a Stephen King novel,” Holt recalled. “She had hundreds of cases, she had dozens of deaths.”
Oklahoma City had no coronavirus cases at that moment, but residents there and across the country had little or no access to tests.
“Any struggles that we’re having, whether it be testing or other issues, or even just convincing our public of the seriousness of the matter, there are some roots back to the time period in January and February, when not all national leadership was expressing how serious this was,” Holt said.
While the mayors held their conference call on March 13, Trump declared a national emergency to combat the coronavirus.
By then, Suarez had tested positive for the coronavirus and was in quarantine. As of Sunday, he remained in isolation, leading the city by phone calls and video chats. He wanted to stop flights into Miami and the governor to order residents to shelter in place as California and other states had already done.
And he worried about Miami becoming the next New York City, the hardest hit in the nation with more than 33,000 cases.
“You have the president saying he would like everybody to be at work by Easter. While aspirationally that’s great,” Suarez said, “we want our decisions to be driven by what’s in the best interest of the health and welfare of our residents.”

Dow loses all gains since Trump’s election, down nearly 40%
President Donald Trump has long pointed to the stock market’s success under his administration as a tangible endorsement of his economic policies and had often boasted about the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s gains since his election. That was, of course, before investors knew about the new coronavirus.
With COVID-19 and measures to contain its spread seeding economic angst across the globe, the Dow’s steep drop on Monday pushed the 30-stock index below the level where it closed on Nov. 8, 2016, the day Trump won the 2016 election over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
The sell-off is part of a historic market meltdown that has sent the Dow down nearly 40% since last month.
Dow industrials fell 841.24 points, or 4.39%, to trade below its close on Election Day 2016 at 18,332.74. The sell-off on the week’s first day of trading put the index down more than 38% from its all-time high notched in February. The S&P 500 was more than 30% below its February high by Friday’s close.
The White House declined to comment on Monday’s market sell-off or the reversal in the Dow’s gains since the president’s election.
The latest setback for Trump comes after the Dow last week fell below the level it traded at prior to his inauguration. At that time it still managed to retain its post-election gains, when Wall Street snapped up stocks as the promise of corporate tax cuts and regulation rollback was enough for investors to bet on U.S. profit growth.
“I’m very hopeful and optimistic on what [Trump’s election] means,” billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller said on Nov. 10, 2016. “The fears of protectionism, while valid, are greatly oversized relative to the benefits to the other parts of the economy [from deregulation and tax reform].”
“This economy is so over-regulated and people are just drowning in red tape, that the removal of that, and I’m expecting serious tax reform, cuts to the corporate tax rate. … So I’m quite, quite optimistic on the economy,” he added at the time.
But U.S. stocks have been in a violent free fall over the last month as efforts to contain COVID-19 stoke fears of a global recession. Federal and state governments have forced the closure of businesses and borders around the world, which economists warn will likely lead to significant job loss and GDP growth declines.
Some, such as former National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn
Those fears have manifested themselves in the stock market’s plunge. But the losses may prove a tough blow to Trump, who has for years used the Dow as an effective referendum on the success of his economic agenda.
Most recently, Trump highlighted on March 13 an autographed chart showing the Dow spiking at approximately the same time he began an emergency coronavirus news conference.
But Trump’s fixation on day-by-day stock market moves isn’t new: Less than one month into his presidency he boasted on Twitter that equities had hit a record.
“Stock market hits new high with longest winning streak in decades,” he wrote on Feb. 16, 2017. “Great level of confidence and optimism – even before tax plan rollout!”
The president has largely come through on his promises to lower the corporate tax rate and ease regulations on many of the nation’s largest companies. Trump and Republican lawmakers passed the landmark Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in late 2017 that cut the rate U.S. corporations pay to 21% from 35%.
But now, Trump faces a new threat that he must overcome in the form of the novel coronavirus, which threatens to tip the U.S. economy into a recession and has sent the U.S. equity market spiraling deeper into a bear market.
Federal lawmakers are haggling over a massive fiscal stimulus bill, which failed a key procedural Senate vote on Sunday after the chamber’s Democrats warned the measure did not do enough to help impacted workers. Still, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told CNBC on Monday that Democrats and Republicans are nearly in agreement on the package.
“I think we’re very close. We need to get this deal done today,” Mnuchin told CNBC’s Jim Cramer. “It is very important as you can see, Jim. We announced overnight with the Fed some very important actions supporting the asset-backed market, supporting the corporate bond market — primary and secondary.”
Senate Republicans last week rolled out a roughly $1 trillion proposal after working closely with the administration in a bid to slow COVID-19’s impact on the economy. As on Monday, more than 35,000 have tested positive for the illness in the United States.

Notes:
The Western side of the wooden deck was ripped up yesterday, revealing rotting joists and ample evidence of various wildlife homesteads.  Our plan is to have it safely re-usable (but not to T. Greene, pHD, MS, MBA, BS, BA’s standards of perfection) within a week.
Owen and Armando came to the Barn at 0730 and performed 2020-1.  Coaching/Counting/encouraging were the parent Kennedy’s, myself and Miss Linda.  Scores can be seen on CrossFit Games.com after postings on Monday. Warren A was also present.  He did a scaled version.  I let him get 2/3rds into it before I told him, mid-Burpee, that the barbell weight he was using was 20 lbs too much.  It’s fortunate for me that we are Blood-Brothers For Life.
Our old friend STEFAN came to play today !!  Stefan had his first CrossFit workout 8-10 years ago at our Barn.  He was home for the Summer from U. of Maryland where, among other things, he was getting schooled in Gymnastics.  After an Achilles Tendon problem, he dropped from attendance.  I ran into him again a few years later when he was a student in Physical Therapy at RESULTS in Brentwood.  During one of my very recent treatments at RESULTS, I got Stefan’s email (he is a PT at RESULTS in Belleview), and so he came back.  I’m happy many of you got to visit with Stefan.  He is truly an admirable young man who is overcoming some serious problems that would stop most people.  Although he denied doing much CrossFit, he is still in pretty fair condition, and judging by the thick callous on his hands, he is spending time on the rings and bars.  I’m hoping he will be able to attend on weekends often.
Sunday at 1 PM.

Australian cheats return and they’re still insisting: ‘We were scapegoats’
The Aussie Rules season starts here and the back pages are full of it.
Cameron Bancroft was caught on TV cameras during the Cape Town test in March 2018. Premier Malcolm Turnbull led the screams. led the screams. & # 39; This morning we were all shocked and bitterly disappointed by the news from South Africa & # 39 ;, he said. & # 39; It seemed completely clear that the Australian cricket team had been involved in cheating.

& # 39; Our cricket players are role models and cricket is synonymous with fair play. & # 39; ancroft for nine months. Loudmouth Vice Captain David Warner, who came up with cheating, and Steve Smith, Australia's 45th test captain, were both excommunicated for a year.
Bancroft & # 39; s ban expired at the end of December but is not under consideration for direct national selection. Smith and Warner are certain that their exiles will end this Friday. And their rehabilitation has begun in Dubai.
Tim Ford, the Harvard-trained leadership advisor, was deployed to oversee the reconciliation process that put ODI team ahead of its series of five games that began with the victory over Pakistan on Friday

Cameron Bancroft's ban expired at the end of December, but he is not under consideration for immediate national selection
The indecent couple does not play in Dubai. It was just a meeting to break the ice.
The two outcasts made positive noises about the reunion.
But it is probably naive to imagine that it is all suddenly sweetness and light.
Aaron Finch, the ODI captain, said about the Smith and Warner voyage: & # 39; What is important is that Justin Coach only & # 39; dysfunctional family & # 39;
& # 39; They were probably just as nervous as someone who returned to the group. It's a different time and they've been gone a while. "
There is also the question of national state of mind. Some people here are not ready to forgive. The Australian cricket team is also important for the country's sense of identity for easy redemption.
Warner has closed its mouth almost completely since the scandal. Big-money offers for interviews have been refused.
The confronting air that Warner & # 39; s many opponents gathered has been replaced by a dignified silence. Smith and Bancroft allegedly carried out his 100 hours of community work to cricket with distinction.
While Smith suggested that the fault of Warner was to come up with the method of cheating, logic suggests that culpability is broader than that.
Australia shows some signs of improvement under the captain of Aaron Finch "
Since Smith and Warner were banned, CA has been renewed. Chairman David Peever, James Sutherland Chief Executive Officer, Pat Howard National Manager, Coach Darren Lehmann and David Saker are all gone.
Under Langer, Finch and Test Captain Tim Paine, the emphasis is on creating a new spirit of sportiness to address the shortcomings of old growling Australia, one that was ready too quickly to remove stones from it. throw glass house. The mix of hypocrisy and aggression is the reason why the downfall of Smith and especially Warner – and the whole team through association – has cost so much joy in many corners.
The mantra is now about & # 39; cultural changes & # 39; and the Dubai meeting was intended to emphasize the new modus operandi
LAST UNDER FINCH
Australia, a country accustomed to winning at cricket, had to get used to losing in the post-Steve Smith (left)
The Aussies played 42 internationals in the last 12 months and only won 13.
A period that started with a one-day T20 whitewash in the hands of England has at least finished scoring an improvement.
The Australians have won eight of their last ten games in all forms and, under the leadership of Aaron Finch, have won their first one-day series in India for 10 years.
Smith and Warner took great trouble in the scandal – they approached £ 5 million between them in various contracts that were torn apart.
Warner & # 39; s wife Candice, a retired Ironwoman, had a miscarriage during the stressful period. & # 39; We held each other and cried, & # 39; she said. & # 39; The miscarriage was a heartbreaking end to a horror tour. We are now pregnant with what they hope will be their third, and we will have nothing to do with them. & # 39;
Smith and Warner remain Australia's most decorated current batsmen, with 44 tests between them and both seem to recover well after elbow operations . the Australian team, hit a century for its club side forty days ago and was one of the top scorers in Sydney club cricket before Christmas. Smith also scored well.
They will both play in the Indian Premier League in the coming weeks before, if selected, leave their concessions early to participate in the World Football Championship in mid-May
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting , assistant coach of the World Championship, said: & # 39; The most difficult part for these guys will be the public perception of us in England. They should not expect too many pats there. & # 39;
Smith and Warner & # 39; s punishment for their duplicity under Table Mountain is clearly not over yet.

Next By Susan Spencer Telegram & Gazette Staff Posted Jul 23, 2018 at 5:17 PM Updated Jul 28, 2018 at 9:07 PM SUTTON - Selectman Michael Kenney resigned his seat Thursday after reports of his arraignment in Bennington, Vermont, Superior Court on drunken driving charges. Mr. Kenney wrote in an email Thursday to Town Administrator James A. Smith, “As we spoke on the phone, due to personal reasons, effective immediately I have resigned my seat on the Board of Selectmen.” Mr. Kenney pleaded not guilty July 16 to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, third or subsequent offense, and refusing to take a test for driving under the influence after having previous convictions. According to Massachusetts court records, Mr. Kenney was found guilty of drunken driving in Webster in 1998 and in Grafton in 1999. He was found not guilty after a jury trial for a third drunken driving charge, which occurred in 2009 in Millbury. Vermont State Police Trooper Raymond R. Witkowski reported in his affidavit to the court that Mr. Kenney was allegedly so drunk when he drove a white Mazda Miata into the parking area of a Cumberland Farms gas and convenience store in Bennington in the early hours of June 20 that he stumbled out of the car and had to hold onto the car to pull himself up and steady his balance. He also hurled obscenities at police and allegedly threatened them with violence, including threatening to shoot them if they ever came into Massachusetts. According to astrologer Bernadette Brady, in her book The Eagle and the Lark, this is actually a good eclipse! "This is a very joyful, happy family of eclipses. There is a sense of good news, falling in love, a peak experience that is joyful in some way. The benefits that appear in the individual's life under this eclipse Series can be expected to continue well after the eclipse has passed." Let me also point out that both Mercury and Vesta are involved - given that the sign is Sagittarius, this is definitely a great time to initiate some scholastic or academic project.

The Capricorn Solstice occurs on Tuesday, December 21, 15:59 UT. If you want to set an intention, though, you might want to wait - the Moon will be void of course at that time. There's a nice Capricorn New Moon coming up on Sunday, January 2; use that one instead.
The third and final Saturn/Aquarius - Uranus/Taurus square occurs on Friday, December 24. Don't go all rejoicing just yet, though - we'll continue to feel the reverberations next year, especially in October and November 2022.

(739)ACTS 12- Herod kills James [not the brother of Jesus who is one of the lead Apostles at Jerusalem] and puts Peter in jail. The church has a prayer meeting for Peter and an angel goes into the cell and wakes Peter up. He leads him outside the city and frees him. Peter thinks it’s a vision and realizes it really is happening! Note how real their visions and dreams must have been, Peter at times can not determine fact from vision! He shows up at the prayer meeting and a girl named Rhoda hears a knock at the door. She asks ‘who is it’? He says ‘It’s me, Peter!’ She can’t believe it and leaves him standing at the door! She tells the prayer group ‘it’s Peter’ they tell her ‘no way, maybe his angel?’ Funny, you can believe his angel showed up, but no way could the Lord deliver him from jail. At the end of this chapter we see the return of Paul and Barnabas after they brought the relief money to the saints at Jerusalem. It calls it ‘their ministry’. This early church did not see ‘the ministry’ as the actual business and the need to raise funds for the ‘church’. Now, it’s fine to pool your money for good cause’s with other believers. When I teach we are not ‘under the tithe’ this does not mean we shouldn’t support good ministries with 10 percent or more of our money. The point is, here we see Peter going back out to the field, Paul and Barnabas returning back from ‘the field’. Spontaneous prayer meetings. No set time or way to give offerings, just a true freedom of giving themselves away for the cause of Christ. Leadership does exist, but the normal function and flow of this church is not centered around ‘the Sunday Sabbath’ [EEK!] There is a real sense of this community of believers being led by the Spirit. It would be wrong to say ‘hey, Phillip went out on his own! He is not under the local church covering’! Or ‘now that we are back from Jerusalem, lets ask Pastor so and so [the supposed Pastor of the ‘church at Antioch’] what’s next’. There were no ‘Pastors’ in the sense of the fulltime Christian minister who oversees the ordinances on Sunday. Now, these developments will arise as the centuries progress. Many good Pastors and Priests will function this way for centuries. They will see the church ‘building’ as ‘the church’. Our Catholic brothers will begin to see ‘the altar’ as the actual place ‘in the church’ that Jesus Body is ‘re offered’ [presented] as a ‘bloodless sacrifice’ for the salvation of the world. All developments that are not seen in Acts. The point is, we limit the flow of Gods Spirit thru his people when we regress from ‘the true has now come’ [the whole reality of Jesus and the church being the real image of things. The law and it’s shadows were only an incomplete picture]. When we as believers go back to ‘the shadows’ thinking that form and ‘pictures of things’ [symbols] are the way we will touch the world, then we lose the reality of us being the actual people of God showing the world Christ thru our unselfish lives. Jesus said when the people of God love each other and lay their own desires and goals down for his Kingdom, then the world will see our actions and believe. Jesus did leave us memorials ‘do this in remembrance of me’ ‘as often as you do this you SHOW the Lords death till he come’. I do realize that the church does have an element of ‘presenting thru picture [art] the Lords death and resurrection’ [passion plays and so forth] but when we lose the real fellowship mentality of this first century church, we then lose the greatest picture of all. Being the actual functioning Body of Christ on earth. John writes ‘how can you say you love God, who you don’t see. When you can’t love your brother, who you do see?’ [1st John] the New Testament clearly shows us that the love we have in word and deed is the greatest ‘sacramental’ picture we can declare to the world. Our Catholic friends have a song ‘they will know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes they’ll know we are Christians by our love’. I agree.
[parts] ALEXANDRIA- EGYPT. Last night I was watching the news coverage of the demonstators in the streets of Egypt- they were protesting the government’s response [or lack] to the bombing of the church in Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt [around 4 million people live in the city]. As I watched the sad story- in my mind I recalled all the times I have run across Alexandria in my studies of history. The city was founded by Alexander the great in the 4th century b.c.e. It had the largest library of the ancient world and was Egypt’s capitol for around 900 years. When the Muslims took over in the 7th century Cairo became the new capitol [under another name at the time]. Alexandria was one of the great centers of Christian learning during the first few centuries of the 1st millennium of Christianity. I remember reading about the great church father Origen- he lived in the 3rd century and eventually would head up the school out of Alexandria- one of the first Christian schools of the day. The famous philosopher Plotinus also had a lot of influence in the city. It was sad to see the destruction on the news- so many years later. This morning I read Revelation chapter 13. The apostle John writes about the persecution of ‘the beast’ against the Christians- the apostle says he makes war against Gods people and overcomes them. We often neglect to see this aspect of scripture- I mean how many songs have you heard that say ‘the beast overcame us and killed us’. We like to sing stuff like ‘we overcome by the Blood of the Lamb’ [another verse from Revelation]. Yet the apostle foresees a time of persecution of the church that will include the deaths of many believers. Those who think the book of Revelation was written early [before a.d. 70] see Nero as the one who bares the mark of the beast- yes the popular 666 is in this chapter. Others who date the book later [around a.d. 90] see the emperor Domitian as the beast- either way John was speaking about a future ruler who would severely persecute the saints [and of course the most popular view today among evangelicals is the anti Christ is yet to come]. In verse 10 of the chapter John says those who kill with the sword, must die the same way- this is the patience of the saints. John is communicating to the 7 churches that he is writing to that they should not retaliate against their oppressors- they should patiently endure- knowing that the persecutors will eventually ‘hang themselves’ with their own rope. Of course the great empire of Rome would finally fall- and for those who see Nero as the 666 guy [my view] he eventually dies a shameful death as well [he killed himself].
As I watch the various responses from Muslims and Christians [and Jews] to these types of events- we all have a tendency to view things most favorably to our own particular viewpoint. While some Muslims are of course outraged over the church bombing- yet the Christian community is more enraged. When the recent peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians broke down- many Christians in the west couldn’t care less- many of them view the entire conflict thru the lens of end time dispensationalism [an end time view that sees Gods plan being played out by the displacement of Palestinians from the land]. I grew up in New Jersey [yes- the state of the great governor Christie!]. As a good old Italian boy- I had lots of ethnic friends- Germans, Dutch, Spanish- etc. Many of these families were immigrants to the U.S. whose families had a history of living in the country for a hundred years or more [some less]. Now- if I were to come to your neighborhood, and tell you ‘look, the governments of the world made a deal [league of nations- later called the U.N.] and you have to leave this area and another group is going to move in’ how what this make you feel? Put aside your view of the bible and how you see ‘Gods plan’ being carried out- I mean just as a human being- how would you feel? You would feel terrible- you would think ‘geez- my father and his father settled here a hundred years ago- I’m not an alien!’ Yet the Palestinians were living in their land for 2 thousand years! Okay- just see the other point of view. Some of the Palestinians are Christians [small %- 2-5]. How do you think they feel when they have been praying for justice- many lost their homes and family estates during the displacement- and then they see the parade of American Christians trod thru the land like their on some Holy Land adventure- taking the kids to Disney world type thing- and yet in the real world lives are being lost on both sides of the conflict.
Most American Christians who hold to these end time scenarios that play into the geopolitical situation on the ground- they don’t realize that many Jews- and even many in the Israeli govt. do not completely embrace their enthusiasm for Israel. The Israeli leaders also know that most of these scenarios see a bloody conflict that will take place in the Holy Land [does Armageddon ring a bell?] and that many Jews will be slain- only a small remnant will escape [does the number 144,000 ring another one?]. The Israeli security forces in the city of Jerusalem actually have a specific profile for a group/persons that they see as dangerous to the city. Do you know who these ‘dangerous persons’ are? They are the tourists that enter the city every so often- and they have this wild look in their eyes- they are there to await the return of Jesus and they believe that they will be a part of the end time army that will spill much blood and defeat the forces of the enemy- yes- these types are deemed dangerous to the Israeli’s.
Lets pray for the peace of all people- let’s do our best to reject all forms of violence as being totally unacceptable- whether it be the bombing of a church in Egypt- the destruction of the Buddha statues by the Taliban in Afghanistan [they destroyed these ancient pieces of art when they rose to power in the early years]. Even the bombing of abortion clinics- or the shooting of doctors- we need to see what the apostle John saw- those who take up the sword must in this manner be killed. I think too many of us have signed our own death warrant.
[parts] (360)I was up praying early. I was actually saying to myself ‘you can go so low in the pit to retrieve treasures, that it becomes dangerous’. I had a sense of a Hollywood schema that would have the ‘hero’ saying ‘I will go and risk my life to save the damsel [or some other corny thing]’ and the others standing by and pleading with him not to take the risk. Sort of like Peter telling Jesus ‘don’t go to the Cross’. As I was actually ‘muttering’ the words about ‘a very low pit’ I heard on the radio the days verse ‘he reached down and took me out of the most horrible pit’ it was a contemporary version from Psalms. Lets share some treasures that were just mined from a low place. On this blog I discuss a lot of controversial things. One is the end times. I don’t hold to a lot of the popular end time scenarios. For instance I recently showed you why Christ’s return will not vindicate natural Israel. The answer was Jesus could not ‘vindicate’ any system outside of the true gospel. So the ‘key’ to seeing this is actually the Cross! You will find this to be the key to everything. All truths must ‘filter’ thru the Cross. You will not rightly divide scripture until you master this. One of the controversial ideas I have espoused is Nero being the ‘beast’ of Revelation. Many evangelicals disagree. Lets open a door using the ‘key’. One of the New Testament books that Paul wrote speaks of Jesus ‘destroying the antichrist’ at his coming. With a total destruction. Some who believe Nero was the beast say this ‘coming of Jesus to destroy’ was a ‘coming’ in judgment in AD 70. They ‘spiritualize’ the 2nd coming to make it fit. The modern evangelical who holds to the Tim Lahaye stuff sees this as an excuse to prove a point. They say ‘see, if Jesus totally destroys antichrist at the 2nd coming, then obviously Nero wasn’t him!’ I do want to note that early historians will tell you that one of the ‘nick names’ for Nero was ‘the beast’. Here’s a ‘key’. In Revelation you see many things happening at different times. You also see many spiritual truths that are concurrent [remember what I showed you the other day]. There are images that show the beast and the antichrist being bound for a period of time. I also showed you on this blog that Hebrews says ‘Jesus destroyed him that had the power of death thru dieing himself’. This ‘key’ of Christ’s death teaches us that the devil is already destroyed by the Cross. It’s not ‘really’ a future event. The 2nd coming is a ‘culmination’ and ‘crowning’ of the Cross’s work. So the image in Revelation of the antichrist being ‘bound’ might very well be speaking of what happened at the Cross. In all the generations of man, since the Cross there has been more light and freedom than at any other time. The enemy, as well as the antichrist, can very well be described as ‘bound’. Now you also have images in Revelation that show this ‘binding’ as being a ‘waiting stage’ for ultimate destruction. The ‘contents’ of death and hell are finally ‘poured’ into the lake of fire. Peter in the New Testament gives images of rebellious angels being ‘held in chains’ until the final ‘destruction’. So with all this in mind, here’s a key. Nero is being ‘held’ right now, with Hitler and every other wicked despot that has ever lived. They are waiting for the 2nd coming. At the real 2nd coming [not AD 70!] he will really be ‘destroyed with total destruction by the presence of the Lord’. This my friends is the key, Jesus and his Cross.
VERSES- Acts 12:1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. Acts 12:2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. Acts 12:3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) Acts 12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. Acts 12:6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. Acts 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. Acts 12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. Acts 12:9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. Acts 12:10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. Acts 12:11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. Acts 12:12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. Acts 12:13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. Acts 12:14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. Acts 12:15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. Acts 12:16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished. Acts 12:17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place. Acts 12:18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. Acts 12:19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode. Acts 12:20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country. Acts 12:21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. Acts 12:22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. Acts 12:23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. Acts 12:24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. Acts 12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark. Mark 3:17 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder: In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations Matthew 2:18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. Billy Connolly announces his retirement from live performances
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Billy Connolly has announced his retirement from the stand-up circuit.
The comedian – who has sporadically toured for half a century – revealed the news during an interview with Radio Times, saying: “I won’t ever tour again.”
“It’s the rigmarole of getting around,” he continued. “I’ve had 50 years as a professional, that’ll do me. I kind of miss it, but I get enough chances to talk to people and be funny.”
During the same interview, Connolly rebutted claims made by Michael Parkinson that Parkinson’s disease had “dulled” his brain.
“He thought I’d lost track, mentally, but I never remember what year anything was,” Connolly said. “I haven’t a clue… These Yorkshiremen, I don’t think they apologise much. I wasn’t disappointed, it just made my life a bit difficult. People feeling sorry for me, I don’t like that.”

U.P. Breaking News Bulletin – 2-19-18 – 1:03 a.m. ET –
Two snowmobile wrecks today; many crashes this weekend, a tribute to those who have died so far this winter in U.P. sledding wrecks this winter
Tumblr media
By Greg Peterson U.P. Breaking News Owner, News Director 906-273-2433
(Upper Peninsula of Michigan) – Rescues are underway this Monday afternoon at two snowmobile crashes in the Upper Peninsula – one on Lake Superior ice off Drummond Island and another in Negaunee Township.
The Lake Superior crash was dispatched just after 11:30 p.m. ET this morning, Mon. Feb. 19, 2018 one of the Chippewa County islands. However it likely occurred 15 to 30 minutes earlier (scroll down for more details).
Then about noon today, a snowmobile crash happened just west of the Carp River off County Road 492 at Forge Road on snowmobile Trail Number 8 in Negaunee Township. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department Special Operations Unit  has been paged along with fire and additional law enforcement. He was reportedly traveling with two other snowmobilers including his son. The victim is being taken by ambulance to U.P. Health System – Marquette.
The victim is said to be a 65-year-old male sledder with collar bone pain and swelling/deformity. On Saturday afternoon at least 7 U.P. snowmobilers were injured in crashes across the U.P. in about a 3 hour period.
The drivers of the those sleds are lucky their injuries are not life-threatening as at least six people have died in U.P. snowmobile wrecks this winter. At least three other snowmobilers were critically injured in the U.P. Scroll down to see our tribute to those who lost theirs lives this winter (2017-2018).
Officials still have still not released information on a terrible wreck last week in Luce County near the Chippewa County line involving a 74-year-old snowmobiler who hit “head-on” with a tree going abut 60 miles per hour. Nothing about the terrible wreck has been released buy either the Luce County Sheriff’s Department, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police or the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The Thurs., Feb. 15, 2018 snowmobile crash happened in a remote area of Luce County way down the CCI Road then off County Road 407 (off the CCI Road) on snowmobile Trail #9.
Near Hurley, WI this weekend – a snowmobiler was killed.
Back to Drummond Island:
Tumblr media
The victim was laying on a frozen portion of Lake Superior about one mile north of Drummond Island. The sledder reportedly hit a bump on the ice, lost control and thrown from his snowmobile.
The victim is said to have several “unknown” injuries including a dislocated shoulder. A friend and fellow snowmobiler met emergency officials on “yacht haven” at S. Water Street and Old Mill Road. The ambulance was able to drive onto the ice to get the victim.
Among those being sent are the Drummond Island Volunteer Fire Department and EMS and the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department. An ALS intercept has been requested for pain control. The victim have to be taken by ferry to the mainland, and then taken to the Mackinac Straits Health System.
Six snowmobile crash fatalities so far this winter – all loved sledding and many had interesting careers. There are at least three other snowmobilers hospitalized in critical condition after U.P. crashes this winter.
