man it really is such a bummer how the Mexico arc ends in sort of a cop out because the Johnny Miguel relationship breakdown in season 4 is honestly really well done and it’s there from episode one to the finale

Something I did love (upon rewatching the last scenes from the episodes) are how mutually IN LOVE Ben and Devi look once they finally get together. Devi looks sooo at peace and the happiest she's ever been, and the same with Ben. After so much strife, I was so happy they ended up in their lil happy relationship in the end xoxo

one thing I like about bnha is that it happens in the generation in which having quirks is so common it's weird for izuku not to be born with some kind of extranormal superpower, because the feeling is different

in a lot of superhero shows from when I was a kid, the problem was that no one else could possibly relate; even in the X-men, people didn't trust rogue, and she had to basically remove herself from all her prior connections. angel's father completely disowned him for having wings. logan was a test subject and considered subhuman by general society; even when the X-men had literally just finished saving lives, they were blamed for existing at all

and then in bnha, heroes are a dime a dozen. your english teacher in high school could breathe a little fire. the attendant at your corner gas station has the head of a red-tail hawk and can see in perfect detail from a mile away. you were in the same econ class as the guy who just saved an entire school bus with his tentacle growth powers.

and if you don't have powers, you're lesser. they say you're not, they tell you everything you want to hear, but you're not a hero. at best, you're a celebrity, if you're attractive and talented, but you're not a hero. police are functionally paper-pushers waiting for the real boss to come around.

it's an interesting dichotomy between narrative value on the quirk/mutation. in X-men, if a non-mutant wanted to be a mutant, even the X-men would think they were insane. it's the difference that makes them targets. but in bnha, if a hero willingly gave up their quirk to go back to working at a deli or something, they'd be insane. the difference gives them power.
