Ok, that time my mom took me to the Emergency Room because my anemia was so bad I couldn’t walk??
She worked there.
Not that day, she wasn’t skipping a shift because her 39 year old daughter hid just how bad her chronic internal bleeding had gotten until Opps! Almost in a coma!!
But as I’m gradually gaining enough awareness that yes, this is bad…
(Partly due to the blood they were pumping in finally reaching my brain)
She’s chatting with everyone, teasing specific coworkers about doing their job right.
And poking at the blood transfusion machine, making it go faster…
…..
I was still the one to politely ask, “Um, is the tube turning red supposed to be hooked up to my needle?” on the second transfusion before it got on the sheets.

Pairing: Max Verstappen x teacher!reader Summary: When your student gets injured and you can’t get hold of her parents you try call an old contact number hoping he can help. Warnings: slight angst, fluff WC: 3.4K
Tumblr media
Max frowned at the unfamiliar number calling him. If it wasn’t for the fact it was a local number he would have ignored it but since few people had his personal number he decided to answer it. Immediately he was hit with the sound of high pitch cries and a soothing voice softly singing a lullaby that eased the knot of anxiety that had formed in an instant.
“Hello, is this Max?” you asked when you realised the dual tone had stopped and the call had been answered. You shifted the child carefully on your lap and grabbed the old enrolment form to see the name again. “Max Verstappen?”
“Maxy?” the girl in your arms echoed with confusion.
“Yes, who is this?”
“Miss Y/L/N, I’m one of Penelope’s teachers. There’s been an incident and I found your number under her emergency contact list.”
“Oh no, sorry, there must be a mistake. You should call her mother or father. I’m not, we’re not, um, I shouldn’t be on that list anymore.”
You cringed as another piercing cry deafened your ear and you rubbed the little girl's back. “It hurts,” she whimpered.
“I know, sweetheart, someone will be here to get you shortly,” you replied softly and you hoped it was the truth. “Look, Max, I’ve tried every other contact number and no one is answering. Is there any way you could come down here? At least until I can get in touch with someone else.”
Max pinched the bridge of his nose but when he heard P’s shuddering cry he knew he had to go. “Okay, I’ll be there shortly.”
Max didn’t care if he got a parking ticket, he took the loading space right outside the preschool building. He likely would have gotten a speeding ticket too in his rush to cross the city but thankfully there weren’t any police in his path.
“Maxy!”
Penelope wriggled in your arms as she spotted the stranger walking into the classroom. His eyes immediately found her and he crossed the space to where you sat holding her.
“Hey, P,” he greeted with a smile and knelt down at your height. “What’s happened, bug?”
Her little eyes welled up again as she lifted her bandaged wrist. “I fell off the playground.”
“I don’t think anything is broken but I would suggest having her doctor check to be sure.”
“I don’t know who her doctor is. I don’t even know what I’m doing here.”
“You’re contact details were-”
“Those must have been from when she started. Her mother and I haven’t been together for a while.”
“Oh, I see. I’m sorry to put this on you. I swear I tried every other phone number we have.”
Max nodded and his sigh sounded exhausted as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. “I just need to make a call. I’ll be back in a minute, bug.”
Max walked along the room, looking over the children’s artwork as he pressed his phone to his ear and waited. Eventually the call went to voicemail and his spine straightened tensely. “Kel, I’ve picked up P from daycare and I’m taking her to the hospital. Call me when you get this.”
You could see the man was stressed when he returned and his short hair pointed in all directions from the hand he kept nervously running through it. It was cute.
“Daniil is in Italy this week for work,” Max said as he returned to your side and picked up Penelope’s Prada backpack before opening his arms. “I’ll keep trying to get a hold of Kelly. Come on, bug.”
Lunchtime was coming to an end and children were starting to file back into the room, a few of the older ones stopping at staring wide eyed at Max. He was tall but not that tall or formidable to draw such a reaction but your question was answered when one of the boys ran to his picture on the wall. Timothée unpinned the drawing of a race car and ran up to Max, holding it out with a pencil.
“Sir, can you please sign this?”
Max looked used to the attention and took the pen with a polite, “Sure.” He stared at the picture for the moment after signing it and chuckled. “Is the RB20?”
Timothée nodded eagerly. “It’s my favourite.”
“Mine too,” he said as handed the picture back and smiled as it was crushed happily to the boy's chest. Max then carefully picked up Penelope, slowly so she wasn’t jostled, and his arms brushed yours.
“If you need anything you have my number,” you reminded as the weight was lifted from your lap. “Children can be a little overwhelming if you’re not used to it.”
Max smiled fondly at Penelope and shook his head. “This isn’t new. I still have her room set up.”
“You do?” Penelope asked hopefully and Max turned his head as he cursed to himself. “Are we going to live with you again?”
“No, no, sorry, P,” he said softly. “I just haven’t had time to redecorate.”
“Oh.” You both winced at the defeated tone and you knew the fresh tears had nothing to do with her arm this time but you were saved by the bell as it spurred Max to toss the bag over his shoulder and look to the door.
“I hope you feel better soon, Penelope.”
“Thank you, Miss Y/L/N.”
“Thank you,” Max echoed with a nod before departing.
All afternoon you were distracted with thoughts of the two of them until the final bell rang and you grabbed your phone. You had sporadically tried to contact Daniil and Kelly again but the calls went straight to voicemail every time and you found no returned calls.
Y/N: How is Penelope? Max: She is happy watching The Little Mermaid. She has a sprained wrist and the nurse complemented the bandaging so you should be proud. Y/N: And how are you? Max: I’m fine.
Max swore as the pot of water boiled over and he hissed as he grabbed the handle to find it was just as hot. He dropped his phone reaching for the teatowel and then P started calling out from the living room complaining that the movie was boring - the same movie she watched a thousand times and she had specifically asked for.
Y/N: My mentor used to tell me that stood for: freaked out, insecure, neurotic and emotional. Are you sure you are fine?
After turning the stove down to a simmer and wiping up the mess of water that had splashed across his floor he went and changed the movie to what would hopefully last longer than ten minutes before she changed her mind. Taking another attempt at making dinner, he grabbed a bag of pasta from his pantry and poured its entirety into the pot.
Max: I’m thinking I am definitely neurotic and possibly starting to freak out. Y/N: I couldn’t have that on my conscience. My offer still stands if you need some help. Max: You don’t have anyone you need to get home to? Y/N: My cat prefers his own company unless he’s hungry and he’s already been fed today so no. Max: I don’t want you to go out of your way. Y/N: I wouldn’t have offered if I wasn’t willing to follow through. Let me help. Please?
Max smiled at his phone before sending his address and looking around to see how tidy the place was. His jacket was tossed on the table instead of being hung up and Penelope’s bag was spilled across the entryway floor, not the first impression he wanted to make.
You entered the port address into your phone and locked the classroom behind you, feeling a little unsteady at the thought of seeing Max again. Penelope was a sweet child and she seemed comfortable with Max but you hadn’t really ever heard her talk about him before. You told yourself the only reason you were going there was to check on your student's wellbeing, but a small part of you wanted to see Max again.
You wondered if maybe he hadn’t heard your knock on the door or that you had the wrong apartment and you rapped your knuckles on it again before he called out. There was a crash and then a groan close to the door before it swung open and Max balanced on one leg.
“Uh, is everything okay?” you asked as he clutched his foot.
“Yeah, everything’s fine,” he rushed before he caught the teasing curl of your brow and he froze before a smile grew on his lips. “Right, freaked out, insecure, neurotic and emotional.”
“You’re a quick learner.” You stepped inside at his invitation and he closed the door behind you while you rushed towards the burning smell in the kitchen. “Oh, wow.”
“Fucksake,” Max grumbled as he grabbed a wet tea towel before reaching for the tray of garlic bread in the oven. “Ouch, shit!”
“You said a naughty word,” Penelope called out from the next room like it was something that she regularly commented on. “That's another 20.”
Max sighed heavily as he looked at a jar on the bench that was already filled with cash. “Shit.”
“I heard that.”
“Shouldn’t you be watching your movie?”
You giggled at the amusing conversation before turning the tap to cold and taking Max’s hand. “Wet towels and hot trays make steam.”
He watched you guide his hand under the water and flinched as it hit the burn mark on his palm. “I don’t usually cook, if you couldn’t tell.”
“The life of a bachelor. Keep your hand there.” You moved with ease around his kitchen trying to save what was left of dinner but paused at a huge pot of pasta that had swelled up and pushed the lid half off. “Are you expecting a dozen other people?”
Max shrugged innocently. “I didn’t know how much to put in.”
“Well the good news is the top half is edible,” you stated after finding a colander and draining the pasta until only a thick layer remained stuck to the bottom of the pot. “Do you have any sauce?”
“Sauce?”
“What were you going to have with it?”
“Garlic bread.” You both looked at the charred sticks still smoking on the baking tray.
“Do you mind?” you asked as you pointed to his fridge and the cupboards around the kitchen.
“No, please. Go ahead.”
You checked the fridge first and you were pleasantly surprised to find it well stocked with fresh fruit and vegetables. “Do you live off salads or does all this go to waste?”
“Neither, my nutritionist comes by twice a week and he prepares the meals.”
For a moment you had forgotten his profession. You had googled his name after Timothée couldn’t stop talking about meeting the ‘Max Verstappen’. “That must be intense, and restricting. Does your social life suffer?”
“It’s not so bad. I still get to go out for dinner and have a few drinks when I want.” He started to pull his hand out from under the water but you tutted and caught his wrist, holding it back beneath the cold stream.
“Keep still,” you warned with a voice you saved for children who weren’t listening. “It needs 20 minutes under there.”
“You want me to stand here for twenty minutes?”
“No, science wants you to stay there for twenty minutes.”
“Are you a teacher or a nurse?” he asked with a playful roll of his eyes.
“Depends if it's halloween.”
His loud laugh made you smile and you eased your grip on his hand one finger at a time to see if he would stay where he was. He did. “I’ll behave, Miss Y/L/N.”
“You can call me Y//N.”
“I kind of like calling you Miss Y/L/N.”
You checked to see if he was serious but thankfully there was a teasing smile on his face before you returned to the fridge to gather some ingredients.
Tumblr media
By some small miracle dinner can’t have been too bad since everyone cleaned their plates of the pasta, though you thought they were likely being polite since you could still taste the hint of smoke from the bottom of the pan. Penelope had spent most of the meal asking Max if he remembered what they used to do when she lived there, how they used to go travelling and shopping. You got to see first hand how much patience the man had as he answered each question despite how it made him uncomfortable.
“You miss her,” you commented after she had gone back to the tv. Max started to collect the dishes with you and sighed as he placed them in the sink.
“It was a big change when they moved out,” he spoke quietly and you stepped closer so you could hear better. “She kept asking if she did something wrong.”
“That must have been hard for you.” His eyes widened and you wondered what shocked him, but you had a feeling it was the fact someone showed concern for him. Even though you didn’t know the details of the break up, it was clear he had and still did care for Penelope and you felt sorry for him. “Can I hug you? I’m a hugger and I feel like you could really do with one.”
“You want to hug me?”
You tried to shrug it off casually. “If you want to. I don’t want to make you uncomfortable. Everyone needs a hug sometime.”
“I do,” he said quickly, very quickly, before he cleared his throat. “I mean, I-I wouldn’t mind a hug.”
You smiled at his tentativeness and stepped into his personal space, slipping your hands into the narrow openings between his limp arms and his body to curl around his waist. It took a moment for him to respond before his own arms embraced the comfort and curled around your back too.
“You smell really good, Max,” you complimented as you rested your head on his chest and caught the scent of his cologne.
“Thank you,” he chuckled, the amusement relaxing him even more until his entire body curved into yours. “I think you have playdough in your hair.”
You hummed in agreement. “Highly likely. You wouldn’t believe the places I find that stuff at the end of the day, glitter too.”
His bold laugh made you smile and you didn’t care it was at your own expense, you were just happy to know it was because of you. Unfortunately you didn’t have the chance to hear it again as his phone rang from the countertop and you saw Kelly’s name light up the screen.
“I should let you get that,” you said as you stepped back, instantly missing the warmth and his scent. “I’ll go keep Penelope company.”
Max waited for you to leave the kitchen before he accepted the call, his calm state evaporating in an instant. “What the hell, Kelly? Where have you been?”
“My phone was on flight mode, I was on a plane. Is P okay?”
“Her wrist is sprained but she’s alright now.” Max pinched the bridge of his nose and reminded himself to breathe. “Why would you leave her alone?”
“She wasn’t alone. Maria was meant to pick her up after school and I should have been home in time for dinner but my flight was delayed.”
“Who is Maria?”
“Her nanny.”
Max had to suppress the groan at the news. He knew Daniil hated the idea of a nanny and he had offered to have more custody so that P would be raised by her parents and not a stranger, but Kelly had vetoed that idea.
“Do you want to go out for dinner? I owe you.”
“No, we’ve already eaten.”
“Some other time then.”
Max made a non-committal sound, his eyes darting to the living room where he watched Penelope explain the movie to you. You were so attentive and patient, asking questions that had Penelope thinking deeper and using such a simple interaction as a learning opportunity. He could see why you suited being a teacher.
“Maybe,” he lied, “just let me know when you’re almost here and I’ll bring P out to you, I don’t want to confuse her any more.”
“Right, of course,” Kelly sighed. “I’ll see you soon, Max.”
Max made the most of the time he had left with P, abandoning the dishes so he could sit on the other side of her and watch the movie about a chef rat. She had cozied into his side with a yawn and nudged his arm until he eventually draped it over her shoulder. It was completely innocent but you couldn’t help noticing the heat of his hand touching your arm, the warmth spreading like wildfire.
The fire was doused when his phone vibrated and the moment to leave had come.
While he grabbed Penelope’s backpack, you grabbed your handbag and prepared your own goodbyes. It was silly to feel sad the evening had come to an end but you knew that you would likely never see Max again. You weren’t famous and he didn’t have children, your paths weren’t meant to cross.
“Have a good weekend, Penelope,” you said as you knelt down and gave her a hug. “I’ll see you bright and early on Monday.”
“Bye, Miss Y/L/N.”
You rose to your feet wondering where you stood with Max until he opened his arms. “Anytime you need a hug, you have my number,” you offered as you stepped into his embrace, no matter how unlikely that prospect was.
“Or if I’m feeling fine?”
You giggled and nodded against his chest. “Especially if you’re feeling fine.”
The walk to the elevator was slow, as if no one wanted the strange evening to end, but there was no stopping time as it began making its way down from the penthouse to the ground floor. The doors opened and you instantly spotted Kelly in the reception area, her elegant and effortless beauty reminding you that you still had playdough in your hair.
With one last look at the man beside you, you gave him a small smile and stepped away. “Goodbye, Max.”
He didn’t respond as you headed to the valet area but he pulled his phone out of his pocket and yours vibrated a moment later.
Max: Are you okay?
Y/N: I’m fine.
Max: Me too. Emotional, you?
Y/N: Insecure.
Max: Want a hug?
You stopped and turned to see Max hand Penelope’s bag over before struggling to separate the girl from where she clung to his leg. She didn’t know, couldn’t see how it was hurting Max, but you could. So you waited, and when the mother and daughter had departed you stepped into the elevator with the subdued man, slipping your hand into his.
The elevator rose quickly and you watched Max’s throat bounce with the deep swallow he made before he choked out a broken, “Fuck.”
“I feel like I should remind you about the swear jar,” you teased as you bumped your shoulder gently against his arm. “But I’ll let you off this once because I have a soft spot for you.”
He looked down at you from the corner of his eye and you saw some of the sadness fading from them. “Does that make me the teacher's pet?”
You gasped dramatically and clutched your chest with your free hand. “I could never bestow such high praise after just one day.”
“What are your plans tomorrow then?” he asked with a smirk as the doors opened and he pulled his house key out of his pocket.
“I don’t have any.”
“Lovely, now are you going to answer my question?” He stepped inside the apartment and opened his arms. “Did you want a hug?”
Your smile chased away more of the shadows in his eyes and the last of it was erased when you stepped into his arms with an eager nod. “I will never say no to a hug.”
His chest bounced with a laugh and you felt him rest his cheek on your head with a contented sigh. “That is very good to know.”

Will you write something about single dad bakugo falling in love with his child’s daycare teacher and her or them feeling the same 🥺🥺 -🦕
Sorry this took so long 😭😭
— — — — — —
Katsuki didn’t plan on ever getting into a relationship again; just him and his darling daughter was enough for him. That was until your stupid face somehow wormed its way into his mind.
His girl, Bakugou Chiyo, had been going to daycare for a few months now, but he’d never met you officially.
As much as Mitsuki loved having the little one over most weekdays, she didn’t have all the time in the world to spend babysitting. Eijirou encouraged Katsuki to enroll Chiyo and had recommended the daycare he used for his kids. Despite Katsuki’s hesitation towards it, Eijirou wouldn’t stop pestering the man to give it a chance. Something about ‘socialisation’ or whatever. Still, Katsuki put up a good fight.
“Fuck no, you know how disgusting other people’s kids are?? I don’t want Chiyo catching rabies from those things.”
“It’s expensive, I’m not exactly rich right now you know!”
“How do I know those teachers are qualified?”
“I’m sure Chiyo’s gonna hate it so what’s the bother.”
Unfortunately, Chiyo loved it, waking up early and being pretty self sufficient for a 4 and a half year old. She even packed her bag herself before bed so it was ready the next morning. Yes it was filled with just stuffed animals, and what.
“Baby, do you seriously need all of your friends? Why not pick one?”
“But they’ll be lonely :(“
Katsuki had to write out a whole schedule of which plush goes to daycare on which day. This rotation made sure the toys all got an equal amount of days.
Chiyo had been getting chattier in the recent days. Perhaps shitty hair was right about the socialisation bit… However, at dinner that night, a new name kept coming up.
“-and I was really sad. But then, Smiley came over and made it better!”
“Who’s ’Smiley’, princess?”
“Silly daddy, you see her every day at pickup!”
That was helpful. One out of the army of children he has no time to notice.
“Tell me about Smiley. She nice to you?”
“Mhm! Today she secretly gave me a chocolate from the teacher desk :D”
Alarms went off in Katsuki’s head. Chiyo’s friends with a thief. Chiyo’s gonna turn into a criminal. Chiyo’s gonna get arrested in the future. Chiyo needs to stop being friends with this ‘Smiley’ kid!!
“What??”
“Yeah. She told me not to tell anyone or she’ll get in trouble… But you won’t tell, right daddy l?”
The next day and drop off, Katsuki stomped in, all geared up in his hero suit, with a massive scowl decorating his face. Usually Mitsuki and Masaru drop the sweetheart off in the mornings, and by the end of a long work day, Katsuki doesn’t have time to chat. So other parents and teachers had basically never had a proper conversation with the man. That sure was gonna change.
“Who is this ‘Smiley’ kid??”
The receptionist looked befuddled.
“Oh no.. what did she do?”
“Nunya goddamn business. Point me to ‘er”
A shaken older hand pointed towards a young and surprisingly pretty face across the room. Must be the kids mother.
Katsuki stomped his way over to the woman. Either she shrunk back in fear of the pro hero, or his anger made him grow a few inches.
“Oi! Who do you think you are? Letting your kids behave like that? I swear, don’t give me some shi- stupid excuse!”
“I’m so sorry! Has someone been picking on Chi-Chi?”
“Chi-Chi? Seriously nicknaming a kid that doesn’t belong to you? That’s so fuc- freaking creepy.”
Chiyo yanked at her father’s pant leg a bit.
“Don’t yell at Smiley like that >:(“
Huh. Smiley.. is the teacher. Oh. A normal person would instantly apologise, but Katsuki? Pro hero Dynamight?
“What kind of relationship do you have with my daughter??”
He made you look like a child predator in front of your entire classroom, their parents, and your boss +coworkers..To say he felt bad was an understatement, the look of your terrified and embarrassed face scarring his mind for days.
Then, Chiyo came home balling her eyes out.
“Miss Smiley wasn’t there! She left me!”
Fuck. He knew what he had to do.
+81 XXX XXX XXX: Meet me at the restaurant down the street in 10.
Y/N: What the freak
When he saw you walk in, his jaw dropped. Unfortunately, you were beautiful, like the girls on the covers of magazines. However, your cute and almost squishable face quickly turned to a glare, eyes shooting lasers through his face.
It’s silent for a long time.
“This is the part where you apologise for getting me fired.”
“Right, I’m really sorry.”
“Look, I love Chiyo so so much. She’s a good kid and I’m sure you can tell she’s grown an attachment to me. If it’s because you or her mother feels jealous-“
“I’m single, the mother is out of the picture.”
“Oh so you just felt like being a dick?”
“Mind your language, Sensei. Wouldn’t want any kids to develop a fowl tongue.”
“I’m the reason Chiyo doesn’t have some of your key vocabulary. Watch it, Dynamight.”
“Oh I’m so scared😒”
You instantly stood up and grabbed your purse. “If you’re just here to rub salt in the wound, I think we’re done.” Fuck. Katsuki yanked you back down into your seat, eyes begging.
“No, fuck- I can’t stop fucking this up. Sorry. I’m sorry.”
“Wanna add another f-bomb to that statement?”
“Fuck off.”
“There we go.”
Katsuki groaned to himself, wanting to kill himself right there and then.
“I came here to apologise and fix things, but I’m stupid and can’t fucking communicate!”
“There are other swear words y’know?”
“Take me seriously.”
Your face softened slightly. You seriously thought he might cry in the middle of some random ramen restaurant.
“How do I fix this??”
“Well..”
You didn’t ask for too much really. Shopping spree (clothes, jewellery, cosmetics, skincare, shoes, hair pins, the works), official apology to everyone who was in the room at the time, get job back, and a bunch of tiramisu.
After all that, you were nothing but smiles. Then it clicked. Always smiling. Miss Smiley. Damn, that was a lazy nickname.
“Chiyo was the one who came up with ‘Miss Smiley’.”
It’s the best goddamn nickname anyone has ever made.
“Is there anything else you wanna add to that long ass list of yers???”
“Perchance..”
“Well??”
“A second date?”

“Charles?” You tilted your head to your side once your husband picked up the call.
“Yes, honey?”
You looked back facing your nail lady and pointed at the pastel lavender colour before bringing your phone back to your ear. “Can you pick up your little daughter from the daycare today? I don’t think my nail appointment would end in 15 minutes.”
“Yeah, of course. Don’t worry about her. Enjoy your day out with your friends, okay?Let me know if you need anything.”
“Thank you, honey! I love you!” You ended the call and went back picking different charms for your new nails.
﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎
“Dada!”
“Hey, baby! I missed you.” Charles crouched down and picked up his baby girl into his arms and nodded as an act of acknowledgement and gratitude to the daycare worker as he turned away to make their way to the car.
“Sir, may I have a word with you?” He turned back and raised his brow in question to the sudden interference.
“Yeah? Yeah, sure. Is there anything wrong?”
Charles was told how his little girl was caught scribbled on her classmate’s notebook using her crayons. The notebook was actually used for kids and tutors for daily activities which required paper and pencils. Not only did his little girl scribbled on her classmate’s notebook, she also shred a few pages.
“We left the children a few minutes and came back to see the other student crying. And this is what she did.” She handed him the proof of crime and Charles was astounded. He had to continuously apologise on behalf of his daughter while Y/D/N kept on hugging his neck and giggling in his arms, completely oblivious to the informal parent-teacher meeting.
“Dada, I want choco this time!” She squealed in her car seat, elated for her daddy and daughter ice-cream date which had become a ritual every time Charles picked her up.
“No ice cream this time, baby.”
“Eh? Why? But, dada, I want ice-cream!” She stopped clapping her hands and caught Charles’s gaze on her through the rear view mirror.
“You were not a good girl today so you don’t get ice cream. We are going home and there’ll be no movie night for you too.” Charles saw she jutted her bottom lips out and whimpered.
“Did you say sorry to your friend?” Charles looked back into the rearview mirror and saw she was wiping her tears off with her arms. “Baby, dada’s asking you. Did you say sorry?”
She didn’t reply as she kept on sobbing but she actually nodded to his question but Charles didn’t catch that so he thought she was ignoring him.
“No cartoon after this and go straight to your room. I’m telling mommy what you did today and she will scold you even more.” He had always been very gentle with her before she was even born. He never had a sister nor any girls from his family members. When you told him you were pregnant with a girl, you knew right away he would make her the centre of his world.
﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎
When you came home, Charles was in the bathroom while your daughter was nowhere to be seen. You usually would always came home with your husband and daughter cuddling on the couch watching Disney movies.
“Baby?” You had found her in her room with puffy eyes. Sitting on her little bed, you brushed her hair away from her face and she hugged your middle. “Who made you cry?” You cupped on her chubby cheeks and softly rubbed your thumbs across her cheekbone, wiping the freshly tears away.
“Dada hates me…”
“Who said that? He loves you so much, baby.”
She ended up telling you everything that happened, which made her cry again and you had to continuously wiped her tears and told her it was fine. You had learnt that she was upset because she was looking forward to her little ice cream date and was turned down by her dad without being told why. She was upset because she had never seen her daddy being so mad at her and she didn’t understand why.
﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎﹎
“I missed you.”
You were making dinner when Charles hugged you from behind and you could smell the scent of lavender from his shower gel when he dropped trail of kisses on your neck.
“Did you get into a fight with your other girlfriend?”
“What?” He broke the hug and went to your side, leaning against the kitchen counter with a frown. “Did she complain to you? Honey, she ruined her classmate’s notebook. How can I not ground her.” He stole a slice of mango that you were cutting and you slapped his hand away.
“Did you actually ask her what happened?” You raised your brows when he looked dubious to the questions.
“Did she tell you what actually happened?”
“Yeah, she did. And I think you are in trouble this time, honey.” You took a slice of mango and put it in your mouth, chewing it while looking very thrilled meanwhile your husband looked like he was going through every single possibilities in his head.
“Oh! Hi baby! Are you hungry?” You exclaimed when your little girl approached your little time with your husband with her fluffy friend, Mr. Boo.
“Baby, do you want to set the table with dada? Like always?” He crouched down and stretched his arms, expecting her little girl to come running as she usually did but she didn’t. She went to your side instead and hugged your leg, struggling a little when Mr. Boo almost slipped off her little arms.
“Oh, shit.”
“Language, Charles!” You glowered at him. “Baby, let daddy set the table alone while you helped me stir the soup, alright?” You picked her up as she shrieked with laughter, leaving a peck on your cheek and tried to grasped on the ladle, completely ignoring your husband.
“Can I get a kiss too, baby?” Charles went to her side and leaned in to kiss but she quickly turned her head away, hiding her face in your neck. “Honey, help me here.”
“Don’t involve me.”
Charles didn’t get a kiss and he stopped asking when your daughter got into a fit crying as she got annoyed from the constant bugging. When she walked to the dining table, Charles pulled the chair by his side, as she usually wanted to sit by her daddy but this time, she went straight to your side. You had to hold your laugh seeing your husband looked defeated with the constant ignoring game.
“Baby, say ah!” He cut the steak into a smaller piece and stretched out his arm that was holding the fork to feed his little girl but she shook her head without looking at him.
“No thank, dada.”
“Wow, I just got rejected over and over. Honey, can you–“ You shook your head without letting him to finish his questions.
“I can’t help you, Charles. Serve you right.”

You had left your little girl alone in the living room while she got busy munching on her animal shaped biscuits as you went to the kitchen to hug your husband from the back while he was washing the dishes, your head leaned against his body.
“Did she make you upset, honey?”
You heard him heaved a sigh which made you chuckle. “You are so silly. Just go and apologise, she’ll be fine.”
“Flirting you was way easier. Ouch!” He winced when you slapped him on his back. “Honey, she’s 2! Where did learn how to sulk like a literal teenage girl?”
“She probably learned it from me.” You leaned away when he turned his body around as he properly engulfed you back in his arms.
“Why did you teach her these bad things. Where is she, anyway?” Charles slanted forward to try to look for Y/D/N and you pulled his face closer to peck on his cheek.
“She’s eating her snacks. Go and talk to her, baby. I don’t think she’s still cranky.”
“Wish me luck.” He tilted your chin and brushed his lips on yours, patting your bum as he left the kitchen.

“Hi, baby. Can I get one?”
Her small hand was in a fist, full from grabbing the biscuits along with her little chubby cheeks. When Charles took a seat by her side and asked for one, she was contemplating, her other hand opening and closing as she looked on her little plate back to her dad. Once she came to a decision, she took two pieces of the biscuits and handed it to him.
“Can you feed daddy instead?”
She lifted up her hand and put the biscuits into his mouth, giggling when Charles tried to chomp on her hands.
“Are you still mad at daddy?”
“Not much. A little bit, I think. Is dada still mad at me?” She pinched her chubby fingers together and scrunched her nose while answering the question.
“Daddy’s not mad at you, baby. I’m sorry, okay? Can you forgive me?” He swept off the crumbs on her cheeks with his hand as she put another biscuits into her mouth.
“My friend ruined my book first, dada.” She wept the back of her hand against her cheeks and Charles immediately leaned in to stole a peck on her cheek. She looked like a little chipmunk, he couldn’t not kiss those little face.
“What else did your friend did, baby?”
“She threw my book away and I was upset so I did bad things back to her. But I said sorry to her.” Charles’s heart was swollen with guilt when he saw her little pout.
“Next time, don’t do that to others. Just let daddy knows if someone’s being mean to you, okay? Are we good now, baby?”
“I think so.” She wiped off her hands once she was done eating and grinned. “I finished!”
“Can daddy get a hug?” She pushed her little chair back to move closer to her dad and wrapped her arms around his neck. Charles stood up with her in his arms and began attacking her face with kisses, making her laughed.
“Oh? You guys are back to best friends now, I see.”
“Mama!” She ducked down and pecked on your cheek as Charles pulled you closer by his freehand.
“You got crumbs all over your face, darling. Did daddy say sorry already?” You brushed off the leftover crumbs on her face and fixed her bangs.
“Yeah, dada said sorry to me.”
“Dada owe you an ice cream date, right, baby?” You poked on his waist, causing him to twitch.
“I want chocolate ice cream!” She squealed with exhilaration, causing both you and Charles to chortle.
“Can mommy come too?”
Charles shook his head immediately and turned your daughter away. “Mommy can’t come. It’s only for us, right?”
“That’s mean!” You scowled and slapped on his arm.

It’s well into the evening when Jeongguk walks you home. The path is quiet. It’s illuminated by the dim light of the street lamps. It feels like a scene from a movie you’ve once watched ー the origin of all your teenage fantasies. But this is real. You’re just a girl, standing in front of a boy, and that’s where it all begins.
“y/n?” The way he says your name brings you to a halt. His voice, although usually confident, is timid and uncertain. “I’ll see you tomorrow, right? We still have a lot to talk about.” He looks at you with stars in his eyes, although none of them belong to you, and they could never be yours.
Your lips press together in a tight line, nodding your head in affirmation. As you bid your goodbyes, you wonder if it would be inappropriate to give him a hug. After all, you’ve only just met the day prior, and this is nothing but pretend. Yet how will you ever grow accustomed to the touch of your husband?
Your arms remain crossed over your chest. You look down at your shoes, kicking a loose pebble at the front of your door, contemplating.
But he reaches for your hand, lightly grasping around your fingers. You jolt back as if he set your nerves aflame. Your gaze lifts toward his eyes, but it quickly lowers as Jeongguk descends down to one knee.
Your heart pounds against your chest, and you pray that he cannot hear it.
“I’m sorry I don’t have a proper ring…” He begins. “I hope you can accept this for now, and I swear I’ll get a diamond on your hand one day ー As big as you want.”
Jeongguk carefully pulls a small metal band from his pocket. It can easily be confused for the end piece of a keychain ー perhaps it’s something that his daughter had left behind in his coat, never to be remembered. But for Jeongguk, he knows perfectly well that it’s the pin from a grenade he had tossed the week prior on an escape mission. He slides the ring onto your finger, and although it is slightly too large, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I may not have been your first choice of a partner, and for all I know, I could have been dead last, but thank you for sticking by me. I swear I’ll take care of you. I’ll hold your heart with gentle hands, and I won’t ever let it break.”
After all, this is just pretend.
But for some reason, his voice sounds so earnest, and you almost believe him. To be frank, you never really cared about lavish weddings and seven carat diamonds. If you were to ever look for a companion, all you could ask for is an honest partner.
Too bad Jeon Jeongguk is anything but that.

First day of school
Tumblr media
A/N : hey guys ! I went back to school this week so I decided to stick to the theme and I actually wrote a little fluffy Marshall + Lily something. Basically just him feeling all the feels as his baby starts preschool 🥺. I hope you enjoy it ! 💕
Lily was starting preschool this morning and Marshall was a mess. In the past few days, he’d been going through several stages of grief : denial that his baby was old enough to go to preschool, bargaining and trying to get you to agree to letting him homeschool her, guilt regarding the few moments he’d missed in her early life (when the two of you weren’t even together !)… you were eagerly waiting for him to move on to the acceptance phase. She had just turned three and she’d have to go to school at some point. Plus, she was more than ready. More so than the two of you, who were emotional at the thought of your baby girl growing up so fast. You had managed to put on a brave face but Marshall was not there yet. He’d been there before with his eldest daughters so you had figured that he would deal with it rather well but he was actually more depressed than you. You were almost scared he’d bawl when he saw her walk in the kitchen with her brand new uniform of the fancy preschool you had managed to her her into.
- Daddy ! Look ! She shrieked when she saw him. I’m dressed !
- You’re beautiful, pumpkin ! He cooed. Come and give me a hug. Today’s the big day, huh ?
- Yes ! She giggled.
He engulfed her in a warm hug and looked at you with eyes full of gratitude. He was really glad that you’d be the one to help her get ready because, even though he was more than decent at doing her hair, this moment would have been too emotional. Her hair was neatly braided with little bows and she was absolutely adorable, a big smile on her face.
- Are you coming too, Daddy ? She asked eagerly.
- Of course, I’m coming, baby, he said softly. I’d never miss such a big day ! Mommy and I will drop you off, walk you to your classroom and pick you up when the day’s over.
- And we don’t want to be late, so now, time for breakfast ! You reminded them. Look, baby, Daddy made you pancakes !
- Yay, she cooed.
The three of you ate, and you lovingly listened to Lily tell you how excited she was. A few months ago, you had gone to meet with her teacher and visit the school and she had been impatient ever since. In fact, she had spent the whole summer talking about school and she’d had trouble sleeping the night before because she was too excited.
When you took her to school, she was so happy and she didn’t waste too much time on goodbyes. Some of the kids there definitely had a hard time letting go of their parents but it felt like Lily couldn’t get rid of the two of you fast enough. She handed her favorite duck plushy to Marshall, seeing as she wasn’t allowed to take it to class and quickly hugged the two of you goodbye before running inside the classroom and hugging one of her friends that she knew from daycare. Her eagerness put a smile on your face and you knew she’d have a great first day. However, Marshall was silent as the two of you walked to the car.
- She barely looked at us, he sighed.
- She’s excited, you pointed out. It’s a big day for her.
- When did she become so independent ? He asked. One minute she needs us for everything and then-
- And by us, you mean you, you giggled.
- No, he lied. I mean us.
- Marshall, you gently scolded.
- Fine, he conceded. I like it when she needs me. I like being the one she calls for every little thing.
You smiled with understanding and kissed his cheek. You could see the sadness in his eyes. He had always had such a strong bond with Lily, after all. So did you, of course, but seeing as you’d already had to deal with being replaced as your baby’s favorite person when Marshall stepped into your life, you didn’t have as much trouble.
- You’ve been grumpy, you said softly.
- I know, he sighed. I’m sorry. It’s just… it’s a lot, you know ?
- I think I do, you hummed. She’s my daughter too, remember ?
- You’re right. I’m sorry, baby, he said. I’m making it all about myself. If anything, I should be supporting you, not the other way around.
- I’m good, you said reassuringly. I’m glad she’s so excited about school. It breaks my heart to see her growing up so fast, but she’s so full of life, healthy, too… I just feel so blessed to be able to witness it. She’s pretty amazing.
He nodded, and you could see in his eyes that he was deep in his thoughts. The two of you drove home. You had both taken the day off so that you could enjoy Lily’s first day of school as a family. Marshall sat on the living room couch, still holding Lily’s duck plushy, that he held close to his heart.
- The house is empty without her, he sighed.
- Now you’re just being dramatic, you giggled. She’ll be back before we know it. It’s just school, Marsh !
- I know, he shrugged. It’s just that I spent every day with her, this summer while you were working. And I kind of loved our routine.
- Now you get to go back to the studio and do what you love, though, you said with a smile. Just the other day you told me of everything you planned on recording !
- I know, he shrugged.
You lovingly pressed a kiss to his cheek and sat next to him.
- Lily’s lucky to have you as her dad, you cooed. And I’m glad you had a great summer.
- It feels like I haven’t enjoyed it enough, he hummed.
- I hate seeing you so bittersweet, my love, you said. Our baby’s growing up and I know it’s hard on you, but it’s happy, too.
- I’m sorry, he sighed. It’s just… it brings me back, you know ? Eleven years ago, I almost died and realized that I had missed so many important moments with my kids. And now, life has blessed me with Lily and I get to give her my best. Not only do I have another baby, I get to experience life with her. And I know it’s happy, I do. But it’s so bittersweet because time goes by so fast. My eldest daughters are grown up and before I know it, Lily will be an adult. I just need her to be my baby a little bit longer.
You nodded and wrapped your arms around him. He closed his eyes and let you hold him. You stayed like this for a long moment. Marshall turned to you and you got to take a good look at him. You noticed that he had tears welling in his eyes.
- I love you, you said softly. Everything will be alright, my love.
- I know, he nodded as he wiped his own tears. I’m just so emotional. But I’m so proud of Lily, you know ?
- She’s doing great, you said. A testament to what an amazing father you are.
- And what an amazing mom you are, too, he cooed. I don’t thank you enough for bringing Lily into my life.
- Believe me, I know the only reason you married me is that you wanted to adopt her, you grinned.
- Come on, he chortled. You know it’s not true.
You giggled and he kissed you lovingly. You got up and grabbed his hand.
- Come on, you said. I think mom and dad deserve a day of doing nothing and lounging in bed.
- I’m all for it, he agreed.
The two of you ended up spending the day cuddling in bed, munching on snacks and mindlessly watching TV. Basically just indulging in the pleasures of being parents whose time-consuming toddler wasn’t around for the day. But just like any other parents, you couldn’t help but wonder how Lily was doing and you were more than happy when it was time to go and pick her up. When she spotted the two of you outside of her classroom, she immediately ran to give you hugs. She was beaming and apparently happy about her first day. You could see other parents staring at Marshall, who did his best to appear unbothered, though he quickly decided to walk to the car with Lily while you talked to the teacher.
- How did she do ? You asked eagerly.
- She did splendidly, the teacher said in a reassuring tone. Your Lily is well-adjusted ! Rather advanced, too ! There was just one minor mishap…
- Was there ? You asked anxiously. Did she have issues with another kid ? I’m sorry, her siblings are grown-up so she’s sort of an only-child-
- Don’t worry, she chuckled. She just decided to skip nap. She was very energetic today and we couldn’t get her to sleep. She also mentioned that she’d rather nap with her dad.
- Oh, you giggled. I’m sorry. She was extremely excited about school. And, well, she spent the whole summer with her dad so she’s gotten used to napping with him. Did she disturb the others ?
- She didn’t, the teacher assured you. I just let her draw quietly and she did just fine. I’ll see you tomorrow.
When you got back to the car, Lily was telling Marshall all about her day. She seemed to really love her teacher and classmates. She also proudly showed you a drawing she’d made. The two of you were absolutely smitten and reassured that she actually liked school. As soon as you got home, you offered to hang her beautiful drawing on the fridge and prepare some snacks for the three of you while they went to the living room.
When you walked in there, you found Marshall laying on the couch, Lily curled up on his chest, eyes closed, clutching her favorite stuffed animal. Your husband was tracing circles on your daughter’s back as she was sleeping peacefully. You lovingly looked at him, able to tell he was enjoying the contact. He threw a glance at you and smiled. After his little meltdown from earlier, you knew he needed this moment.
- Looks like someone needed a hug from her Dad, you said.
- First days of school are exhausting, he commented. She fell asleep in like three seconds.
- You’re enjoying this, aren’t you ? You said teasingly.
- Yeah, he hummed. She’s still my baby after all.
- She’ll always be your baby, you reassured him. She was your baby from the moment you first held her.
- It’s just so hard seeing her grow up, he shrugged. Soon enough, she won’t need me as much.
- Looks like you’ll still be needed for a while, you smiled as you pointed to the way Lily was clutching at him.
- Hopefully, yeah, he chuckled. Thanks for today, my love.
You smiled and cupped his face before gently ruffling Lily’s hair. He placed a soft kiss on the top of her head and the two of you enjoyed her light snores, looking lovingly at each other.
- The teacher said our baby did very well today, you said proudly.
- Of course she did, he said smugly. She’s our daughter.
- She didn’t nap, though, you continued. Something about telling her teacher that she’d rather have her dad by her side for nap time.
The news brought the biggest smile to his face. He hugged Lily a little tighter while he stared at you with a shit-eating grin.
- She loves you so much, you know ? You said emotionally. I’m so glad you’re her dad. So happy that you’re here for her. And healthy too.
- Me too, he replied with a heartwarming smile. I love being her dad. And your husband, too. Now, how about you join us for nap time, wifey ?
You nodded and, though it took a little bit of flexibility and adjustments, you managed to fit on the couch, snuggled against your husband. You placed a hand against your daughter’s back and enjoyed the sight of her sleeping so peacefully. Seconds later, her soft snores were joined by Marshall’s and you let your eyes shut.

YOU WERE NERVOUS, i mean, rightfully so.
Monday, August 23rd. the first day of school, and the first day of your new job.
in the past, you thought you’d be anything but a kindergarten teacher. but after volunteering with a local daycare over the summer…
you were smitten.
besides, you knew one day you’d actually have kids. but that was about… seven years down the line. (yes, you had your future all mapped out)
and it’s better this way, really. you get to hang out with the kids, paint with them, read with them, talk to them, and then at three o’clock you can just return them back to their parents and not have to deal with kids all night.
perfect plan, right?
wrong.
after pacing your well-decorated classroom back and forth about sixteen times in the past twelve minutes, a fellow teacher came in to chat.
“Hi, you’re Y/N, right?”
you spun around to the source of the greeting.
“sorry, yes, i am.”
you shook his hand with an anxious type of firmness.
“it’s nice to meet you, i’m Remus. i teach seventh grade.”
his smile lit up the awkward mood in the room.
“i assume you’re a bit nervous, yes?”
“a bit more than a bit.”
you admitted embarrassingly, they were just kids.
“well, you’ve definitely gotten the best age group to start out with.”
“i have?”
“mhm, all you have to do really is teach them their ABCs, and make sure they don’t eat the non-toxic paint.”
you let out a soft chuckle at that.
“i’ll certainly try my best, Remus.” he smiled.
“well, you’re about to get some kids in here so i should probably leave. just be careful, when i started out i was so much taller than the kids that some of them climbed onto me like i was a tree.”
he chuckled, definitely easing your nerves.
“that sounds like hell.”
“it was.” he nodded, closing your door with a soft thud, leaving you to your own thoughts and feelings.
until a young boy walked in with his dad, nervously clutching onto his big hand.
“hi… you’re ms. L/N, right?”
the dad spoke in a soft spoken manner, clearly not wanting to spook his son. (totally not because he was absolutely astonished and terrified that his sons teacher was maybe the most gorgeous thing he had ever seen)
“yes, i am.”
you answered with the same tone, swallowing down your anxiety.
“well… this is harry.”
Harry ducked behind his legs.
“i’m sorry, he’s not usually shy.”
“it’s alright, everybody gets nervous the first time they try anything.”
you crouched down to the boys level.
“hi, Harry. i’m Ms. L/N.”
“h-hi, Mrs. L/N."
the boy smiled cheekily as he held his little hands.
"we're gonna have so much fun today, so don't be scared." you returned his smile, yet you were probably about as nervous as he was.
you stood back up to face his dad, he was tall... very tall, and his eyes a hazel hue.
god, was he handsome.
no, that was not a good thing to say about someone who was definitely married with a kid.
but... maybe just sneak one more glance..
but, of course. the kids began to pile in, and the handsome young dilf dad waved goodbye to his son, and turned to leave.
little did you know he was thinking of you too.
your first day on the job was incredible, and time had flown by to Christmas Break.
your classroom was lovingly decorated for the holidays, and you had gotten to know your peers a bit better.
Remus was definitely your teacher buddy, you'd get coffee every Friday after school to discuss the past week and your plans for the next.
you had come to find out (through these coffee debriefs) that Remus was actually roommates with James- Harry's incredibly hot father.
and Remus was practically Harry's uncle, along with his long-time boyfriend, Sirius,
"So you're the Moony Harry is always talking about." He chuckled, blushing embarrassingly at the nickname.
"Moony was a nickname from High School, but Remus is difficult for Harry to pronounce so we went with that to make it easier."
You smiled, Harry was a very smart kid for his age.
"so.. James, is he-?"
"single? yeah, he chased after his highschool crush for about seven years at our boarding school, and once she finally gave in they got married quickly. but she eventually realized that she didn't like James that way, and had a thing for our close friend, Mary. so they broke off, luckily it wasn't a nasty divorce but Mary wasn't ready to take on the burden of a child, so James took Harry and now he lives with us."
Remus quickly explained before realizing that was probably a ton to drop onto you all the sudden.
"i-.. sorry, i didn't mean to drop that all on you at once."
"it's alright, and i'm sorry for James."
"he's alright now, the divorce took a large blow onto all of us, since... you know.."
"from the outside it looked perfect, didn't it?"
"couldn't have explained it better myself."
He smiled, sipping on his tea.
"besides, i think he's got his eye on someone."
"oh really? who?" that was a selfish question.
"you."
"w...what?"
you deadpanned, thinking he was joking.
why hasn't he said he was kidding?
where's the punchline?
"he wont stop bloody rambling about you, Y/N."
"what?!"
"yes! he wouldn't stop talking about how you had these braided pigtails two or three weeks ago and how adorable you looked-"
his rambling about James' minute obsession with you faded into the background as you attempted to process-
James, James Potter, James Fleamont Potter, your favorite students father.
likes you, his sons Kindergarten teacher who probably has black circles under her eyes because she barely sleeps anymore cause she stays up and thinks about him-
"Y/N!"
"WHAT?"
Remus broke you out of your thought jail.
"i said that you need to set something up with him, because i know you like him too and i cant keep being the monkey in the middle and trying to get you both to finally wake the fuck up and date eachother!"
You'd never heard Remus so insistent, he was always so calm and collected.
"Remus... i've never asked anyone out before."
"And? it's really not that difficult."
you sighed, pinching your nose bridge softly.
"fine, fine. I'll talk to him Monday."
and you dreaded Monday, but it also couldn't come soon enough.
after finishing up your classes for the day, you walked Harry to James.
"Hey.. Y/N."
"James."
"Daddy!" Harry went running to James, gripping onto his leg with all of his toddler force.
"He did great today, as usual."
"That's great to hear..."
You accidentally stared into his eyes for moments longer than you should have, but it didn't feel awkward.
"Y/N, I have something i need to tell you."
"i have something i need to tell you too..."
"I like you, alot."
you blushed furiously, why wasn't this easy?
"i-i-i like you too.. alot."
"would you... want to go out for dinner, sometime?"
"I'd like that."
"FINALLY!" shouted an exasperated Harry.

“Hey I need your help out front,” Jessica wearily asks as she pops her head into the classroom door. The other woman who’s sitting on the jungle carpet with the kids nods her head and stands up, kids clinging to her arm as she does so.
“What’s up?” she asks, shaking off the monkey children, “I need you guys to go sit on the carpet. I need to talk to Ms. Jessica.”
The kids run back to the group before Jessica explains, “There’s a man here to pick up Wyatt but I don’t recognize him and he’s not showing any ID. I figured with who his parents are, you might want to check it out.”
“Bruh you’ve got to be kidding me. Get a picture of him and his car and don’t let any of the kids out of the room until I come back. I’m getting real sick of this shit,” the mental exhaustion of running a daycare, let alone one with high-profile clients, rips her apart most days.
Another kid comes running up to the two women, complaining about how annoying her brother is being, “Ms. Jessica, Ms. Sunny, Mason won’t leave me alone. He keeps pinching me.”
Jessica takes over the situation and leads the little girl back towards the carpet, asking her what she did to try and stop him while the other woman, Ms. Sunny, leaves to handle the rather broody-looking man at the school’s front doors. His jaw is locked in a permanently clenched state, no doubt causing tension but also creating a killer resting bitch face. He’s looking down at his phone and doesn’t notice that she’s in the lobby with him until she clears her throat.
“I’m here for Wyatt,” he fumbles to put his phone away when he looks up at her.
“Can I see your ID please?” she asks, coming to stand in between him and the hallway leading toward the classroom.
“No.”
She flashes a very fake smile and crosses her arms over her chest, “Unfortunately it’s our policy; I can’t release a child into someone’s care unless I know who they are or I see their ID to confirm they’re on the approved adult list. So if I can’t see your ID then I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
“Just call Steve,” his jaw twitches as his frustration grows.
“I can once I see your ID.”
“You don’t need to see my ID. Just call Steve and bring out Wyatt.”
She scratches at the corner of her eye in annoyance, “I’m about 30 seconds from calling the police on you for attempted kidnapping. You may either leave or show me your ID, it’s really not that hard.”
When he puts his hands on his hips, metal flashes from under his coat in an attempt to scare her into submission but all she does is let out a breathy laugh at the lame attempt. This only frustrates him even more and he digs into his pocket to retrieve his phone to make a call while giving her the staredown. Being an unbothered queen, she flashes him another sarcastic smile when he gives her a particularly nasty look. The kids are going wild in the classroom, screams and laughter echoing through the hallway and into the lobby. Another man gets out of the SUV the first man no doubt arrived in and raps harshly on the school’s glass door. A black hoodie peaks out from under the leather jacket he’s wearing, giving him a softer look than the other man who’s in a full suit. If she didn’t know better, she would’ve assumed that he was the lackey and the first man is the boss but she does and resists rolling her eyes when she pushes open the door for him.
“Thank you, Doll,” his honey voice coats her ears as he slides past her, “What seems to be the problem?”
“This asshole here wouldn’t let me see his ID and was being rude, demanding that I just bring out Wyatt,” she’s dropped the kind daycare teacher act at this point and falls back into her normal personality and word bank.
“Is that true, Scott?” the honey-voiced man asks Scott, turning his head to look at him.
“Maybe if she wasn’t being such a bit…”
He cut him off with a stern look, “I’m going to stop you right there. We don’t call women names even if they are true. Now apologize to her and go to the car.”
Scott mumbles a very curt and snarky apology to her and shoves the door open, storming off like a child. She lets out a deep sigh, watching him leave before looking at the other man whose eyes haven’t left her, “I still need to see your ID.”
“Of course,” he pulls his wallet from his back pocket and flips it open to hand her the card.
She glances over it and hands it back, “Thank you, Mr. Barnes. Wyatt will be right out and next time you come to pick him up, please come in yourself or have the Rogers add the asshat to the list. I really don’t enjoy arguing with a man-child when I have a classroom full of better-behaved kids.”
Mr. Barnes chuckles and nods to show he’s in agreement, “Scott could use a lesson or two in manners. I’ll make sure he won’t bother you again.”
Wyatt comes bounding out of the classroom, backpack hanging off one shoulder and half-finished coloring pages fisted in his hands. He breaks into a sprint when he spots his uncle crouching down with arms wide open and nearly tackles him to the ground.
“Uncle Bucky!” he shouts when he jumps into Bucky’s arms.
“Hey buddy, how was your day?”
“Look at what I made,” Wyatt shoves the coloring pages into Bucky’s face with excitement, “Ms. Sunny helped me.”
Bucky’s eyes rake up her form before making intense eye contact with her, a small smirk on his plump lips, “Is that so? Why don’t you say goodbye to Ms. Sunny?”
Wyatt launches himself at her legs, rapidly saying his goodbyes. She smiles down at him, “Have a good night, home slice. We’ll see you tomorrow morning.”
He runs back to his uncle and takes his hand as Bucky pushes the door open to leave. He pauses and sends Wyatt to the car so he can get one last word in with the daycare teacher.
“I really am sorry for the confusion earlier. Let me make it up to you.”
“Yeah come in yourself next time,” she scoffs, spinning to go back to the classroom.
“How about dinner?” he calls after her, freezing her just before she gets to the room.
“Are you seriously asking me out?”
He shrugs his shoulders, a smirk growing even wider, “Are you saying yes?”
She doesn’t give him the satisfaction of answering and disappears into the classroom, leaving him chuckling to himself. It’s not the first time they’ve met, having seen each other in passing when he picks up Wyatt but this is certainly the first time he’s actually talked to her. She’s not surprised that he decided to flirt with her; he is, after all, the king of New York and known as the Flirt of Brooklyn. Even though the kids call her Ms. Sunny, she’s a far cry from her nickname and is unamused by his behavior. He’s going to have to try harder than that to get under her skin or take her out.
Jessica quickly gets up from the teacher’s desk when Sunny comes back in, “Everything go okay?”
“Yeah, yeah,” she waves Jessica off, “It ended up being Wyatt’s uncle who sent in his bodyguard. I told him that he needed to come in himself like he had been doing so hopefully I won’t have to call Mom and Dad. You know how Mr. Rogers gets when we call him.”
“Oh yeah, I wouldn’t get them involved unless it again,” Jessica agrees but her face lights up at the mention of the uncle, “Oh my god it was Bucky Barnes?”
This time she can’t stop her eyes from rolling on their own, “Yes it was. Jesus, what is it with you and every other woman who works here?”
“Um did you even look at him? He’s like super hot and rich, who wouldn't want a piece of that ass?”
“Ok language, we have little ears,” Sunny whispers to her over-excited coworker, “Also he’s a criminal so there’s that.”
“Which makes him even hotter. You’re telling me that you didn’t feel something down there?”
“Jessica!” The woman smiles devilishly at her, awaiting her answer.
“No, and the whole bad boy thing is the worst trope I’ve ever heard of.”
“I’ll bet you anything that after one more interaction with him and you’ll be gossiping right along with us,” Jessica winks at her as she waltzes away to go help one of the kids with their project.
Tumblr media
“Oh Sunny,” Jessica’s sing-song voice calls out as she walks down the hallway to the classroom. From her spot at the teacher’s desk, she can hear just how excited Jessica is by how she’s practically running down the hallway. She bursts into the room, two drinks in hand and various bags hanging off her arms.
“I come bearing gifts,” she puts the drinks on the desk whilst dropping her bags to the ground, “A chai with almond milk and cinnamon. Also, I have a favor to ask of you.”
Sunny takes the boiling chai into her cold hands and sighs at the warmth it brings as she listens to the favor, “Thank you, my dear. I’m all ears.”
“So,” she begins, shoving off her leather jacket, “my friend is having a kickback this weekend and I need you to come with me.”
“Why?”
“Because I want you to be there.”
Leaning back in the creaky chair, Sunny gives her a disapproving look, “Hm you said need.”
“Can’t it both?” Jessica’s black hair falls forward over her shoulders as she moves to rest her arms on the desk, “Either way I would really really appreciate it if you came with me.”
“You still haven’t told me why.”
“The guy I've been talking to on and off for like months now is going to be there and I could really use a wing woman.”
“Girl, what do you need a wing woman for?”
Jessica scoffs, dramatically spinning away, “He’s so fucking dry over text but in person, he’s like a totally different person. I need someone to flirt with him a little and see if he’s really just that way or if he’s just not interested in me.”
Sunny mulls over the thought, sipping away at the devilishly hot coffee in her hands. Going to a kickback would be fun but flirting with people, let alone talking to people isn’t something that she enjoys or wants to do on her time off.
“What do I get out of it?”
Flashing the best smile she can, Jessica pleads with her, “A lifelong friendship. Please please please come with me.”
“How big is this kickback going to be?”
“Like 50 people tops.”
Her jaw drops in shock, “50? As in five zero?”
“Yes,” Jessica says sheepishly, dropping herself onto a tiny table meant for their kids.
“That’s not a kickback. That’s a whole ass house party. Kickbacks are maybe 10 people, not five times that.”
“I promise it’ll be so low-key that you won’t even notice. I’ll pay for the Uber, drinks, whatever, just come with me please.”
“ You do realize how inappropriate it is for a director to hang out with a teacher let alone go to a house party, right?” Sunny asks, setting her coffee down and checking the time to make sure they have enough time to hash out the details before the kids arrive.
“No one will find out. Your bosses don’t even check on us that often. I highly doubt they’re going to find out you went to a friend’s house for some drinks.”
“You underestimate their ability to royally fuck me over,” her alarm goes off to let her know that it’s 7 am and parents are about to start showing up, “I’ll go BUT you’re paying for everything and I reserve the right to leave whenever I want and you have to come with me.”
“Oh my god! Yes yes yes thank you so much, Sunny you’re a lifesaver,” Jessica jumps up in glee and throws her arms around Sunny who had gotten up to open the school doors, “We’re going to have so much fun!

Mediator
Pairing: James Potter x Reader, Remus Lupin x Reader
Warnings: smut and a little bit of angst!
Word Count: 2.7K+
A/N: a short one this time! but I absolutely adore this one so I hope you do too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can tell a lot about a person from the way they look when they drop off their kids in the morning. The afternoon is different, people have time to get ready to look put together in the afternoon, but the morning is telling. It was interesting to watch Harry Potter get dropped off every morning. His mother and his father were very different people in all cases but especially in the morning. His mother started work early in the morning, so the 7am drop-off was right on her way. She always wore something professional, some nice slacks or dress with a blazer or a blouse and a clean pair of heels. She wore a necklace, generally a string of pearls with a matching earring set, and a beautiful wedding ring on her fourth finger.
However, over the course of the past year, the wedding ring disappeared and a series of rings that matched her outfits took that place on her fourth finger. She always pleasant in the morning, holding a cup of coffee-or rather tea now, she switched after her divorce-in one hand and her son on her hip. Harry’s father was another story. No one was going to deny that James Potter was a gorgeous man, but to say that he was disheveled in the mornings was an understatement. He generally sped to the drop-off center, sometimes in his pajamas or workout clothes, or on one strange instance, in full quidditch kit complete the broom and goggles that made the workers at the daycare swoon. Sometimes he had an energy drink or protein shake with him and he usually was tugging a drowsy Harry along with him, apologizing profusely for being late. He still wore his wedding ring, much to the chagrin of many women who had their eye on the attractive actor. It was no secret that Harry Potter’s parents had problems despite the fact that James Potter still loved his ex-wife very very much. That why this particular visit to the mediator changed the everything.
“I don’t think I’m being unreasonable on this,” James said, arms crossed over his chest.
“You don’t think it’s unreasonable that I’m not allowed to have any adult I’m not related to in my house on my days with Harry?” You bit your lip and glared at your ex-husband.
“I have a compromise,” the mediator said, cutting off any of James’s smart remarks, “While it may be a bit extreme to ban all adults from your home, I think it’s very reasonable that any adult that is going to be around your son needs to be  approved by the both of you.”
“Is this because of Remus?” You asked.
“Who’s Remus?” The mediator asked.
“A friend from work,” You sighed.
“Much more than just a friend from work.” James spat. This had all started when James had picked up his four year old, Harry, from school.
“Hey Harry, how was school?” James asked as he peeled out of the school’s parking lot.
“Good! Daddy I want to work in the ministry when I grow up!” Harry giggled from the backseat.
“Work in the ministry? Just like your mom, huh? You want to work in the department of magical accidents and catastrophes and solve problems?” James chuckled a little bit, trying not to think too much about you.
“No, I want to work in control of magical teachers.”
“Magical teachers? Oh magical creatures! Where’d you hear about magical creatures?”
“From Mommy’s friend Remus. He’s in the department of magical creatures and he helps creatures like werewolf and centaurs and dragons. I want to do that when I’m older!”
“Mommy’s friend Remus?” There was a ringing in James ears as he pulled up to his house. He helped Harry out of the car and lead him inside. Harry hopped up onto the kitchen counter as James reached into the fridge to pull out a plate of pre-cut and washed carrots.
“Yuckie. I want crisps.” Harry grumbled, pushing the plate of veggies away.
“Crisps aren’t good for you, you know. Especially not crisps like these,” James reached into the cabinet and pulled out a bag of sour cream and onion chips.
“Please please please please!” Harry begged.
“Tell me more about Remus,” James said, waving the bag in front Harry teasingly.
“He’s Mommy’s special friend. Yesterday he came over and made pasta for us! He spends a lot of time with Mommy now and sometimes he sleeps in her bed. Last week we went to the muggle movie theater and had popcorn and we saw Indiana Jones and it was so cool! Indiana Jones was like shoo shoo and he was running the bad guys and it was like boom boom and brah brah and-”
“You did great, buddy. Go crazy, I have a call to make.” James tossed Harry the bag and dialed the number the meditator that you both had used when you first divorced. He couldn’t bring himself to actually call the meditator though, it felt like crazy overkill. As the clock hit 7:30, James put a sleepy Harry in the car and drove him back to your place, prepared to have a nice, calm, conversation with you about your ‘special friend’ Remus. He wasn’t prepared, however, to see a tall, tan, drop-dead gorgeous, dark-haired man who James had once called a friend answer your doorbell in your short silk lavender robe.
“Oh James, you’re not pizza. Are you?” Remus laughed sheepishly.
“Remmy!” Harry murmured in his half asleep state, snuggling further into James’s arms.
“Been alright James?” Remus extended his hand awkwardly.
“Is she here?” James refused Remus’s hand and glared at him.
“Um, yeah, she’s here. Come on in.” Remus stepped back and let James walk into the house. He heard you humming as you walked out of your bedroom, only wearing a white button up that obviously did not belong to you.
“James? What are you doing here?”
“I’m dropping off Harry, bud go to your room. Your mom and I will be in a minute to tuck you in.” James set Harry down on the floor and watched him patter away.
“Why are you dropping him off now? You have to call before you show up you know that.” You crossed your arms over your chest.
“It’s not my fault you’re too busy fucking other men to realize what day you need to expect your son.”
“You’re supposed to drop him off on Thursday.” Your jaw was set.
“It is Thursday.”
“It’s Wednesday!”
“Wednesday? No,” James’s eyes darted to the calendar on the fridge and sighed, “shit.”
“It’s fine, James. Nico can stay here tonight, just go please.” You rubbed your temples.
“I’m not leaving Harry here with your man-whore.” James spat.
“That’s not fair, James.” Remus started but you and James both turned to him and said,
“Stay out of this!”
“Fine.” Remus said, chuckling awkwardly and walking to the bedroom to change.
“What the hell is wrong with you? You can’t come to my house and use that talk about my friends like that.” You spun on your heel to face James.
“I’ll talk anyway I want to when it concerns my child.” James spat back, getting closer to your face.
“I, uh, I’m gonna head out.” Remus was standing at the door with a pair of pants and blazer that didn’t really cover his bare chest.
“Probably for the best.” James pursed his lips. Remus left and the only noise in the room was the sound of the door closing and a car starting up and reversing out of the drive.
“I think you should leave,” you said after a few moments of silence.
“Listen,”
“You know, James, that Remus only has mine and Harry’s best interest at heart. This isn’t some random guy, this is a man who we’ve known since we were eleven years old. One of your best fucking friends.” You said, trying hard not to raise your voice and alert Harry.
“Exactly. He was my best friend and now you’re fucking him.” James crossed his arms.
“You have no right to be jealous! We’re divorced!” You cried.
“Are you two fighting?” Harry asked, rubbing his eye and keeping a tight grip on a stuffed bunny.
“No, no, buddy. I’ll be in in a minute to kiss you goodnight.” You said, staying quiet until Harry made his way back to his room.
“No you listen here,” James started.
“No. Just go. Neither one of us are going to be able to say anything useful now. I’m just going to call the mediator and we can talk there.” You didn’t wait to hear James’s response, you walked back to your room and listened for the sound of the door clicking shut.
And that was where you were, sitting across the table from your ex-husband and trying to resist the urge to scream.
“You know what? I think it might be helpful for the two of you to go to dinner and just talk about what you want for your son. I think you’ll find that you both have Harry’s best interest at heart and hopefully it’ll help your relationship.” The mediator suggested. You bit the inside of your cheek and looked at James.
“Well I’m game if you are,” James was waiting for you to say no. You weren’t one to shrink from a challenge, however, and you nodded.
“Sounds great. I like Italian so let’s do Bocellini's at 8. I’ll get a sitter.” You walked out of the mediator’s office, thinking about this dinner tonight. At 7:30, you were finishing your glass of wine when the sitter rang the doorbell.
“Hey you look nice! Do you have another date with Remus?” Lily asked, walking into the house.
“No, I’m meeting with James actually, not Remus. Our mediator suggested this.” You slipped your coat on.
“Oh, uh, this is gonna get awkward then. His car pulled into the driveway after mine.” Lily said with wide eyes.
“Shit. Uh, I should be back by eleven at the latest. Thanks Lily! You’re the best.” You ran out the door and stared at Remus, who was walking up to the house with a bouquet in hand.
“What are you doing here?” You hissed, “James is coming to pick me up in 10 minutes.”
“I wanted you to know that I’m in love with you.” Remus said with a grin.
“Okay great now get out!”
“Alright,” Remus started to walk away when something clicked in your mind.
“Wait!” You ran to him and put your hands on his shoulders, “you love me?”
“Yeah. I was going to give you this, but I guess you’re busy.” Remus tossed you a small velvet box. You looked in and saw an engagement ring.
“Oh Remus…”
“I know its fast and I’m not saying we need to get married right away, but I love you and I love Harry. I want to be there for the both of you.”
“Oh God, Remus, you have the worst damn timing.” You stared at the ring.
“Don’t answer now. Have a good dinner, we’ll talk tomorrow.” Remus kissed you before getting into his car and driving away. You barely had enough time to shove the ring in your bag before James pulled into the driveway.
“How’s Harry?” James asked as the waiter poured wine for the two of you. You and James had been silent the entire car ride over.
“Good. Career day is next week and I’ll be going but Harry wants you there too. He wants his big shot quidditch star dad to talk about touring with the Bats.” You said, taking a sip of wine and pursing your lips.
“Why did we ever get divorced?” James asked.
“Really?” You laughed humorlessly, “You don’t remember? You don’t remember the fighting and the arguments?”
“I do, of course I do. But…things were good when we were together.” James said.
“Oh my God. James, you can’t be serious.” But you knew that look in James’s eyes. He was reminiscing, remembering the good times. And there were good times, as much as you loathed to admit it, and the good times were real good.
“Come on, don’t you remember that time that we went to the beach to have dinner and I brought a bag of crab legs and we didn’t have our wands and we couldn’t open them so I ran over them with my car to try and crack the shells?” James asked. You couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Yeah, that didn’t work either. We ended up going through a drive-thru and getting burgers, fries, and shakes.” You giggled. “Those were the best burgers I’ve ever had.” James laughed.
“Would you make those burgers your last meal?”
“No, come on, what about that fresh penne a la vodka in Rome we got on our trip to Italy, that would be my last meal.” James licked his lips, practically salivating at the thought.
“Oh that was incredible. Almost as good as the tortellini we got in Napoli.” You grinned.
“Have you decided what you’d like to start with?” The waiter asked, interrupting the reminiscing.
“Uh, I’m going to get the penne a la vodka and…what about it, love? Tortellini?” James asked with a sly smile.
“I think that sounds great,” you smiled at the waiter. You hardly had a chance to try your food however, before James was carrying you into the bathroom, his lips on yours as your back his the wall. You snaked your fingers through his hair and moaned as he moved to your neck.
“Fuck James,” you gasped wrapping your legs tighter around his waist. His large hands went to your top, pulling it off and getting your bra off with it. He started squeezing your breasts and flicking at your nipples with one hand and shoving his fingers in your mouth. You held eye contact with him as you ran your tongue over the digits and you could feel him getting harder by the second.
“Dammit, love, I forgot how fucking hot you are.” He cursed, removing his fingers from your mouth and shoving them inside you.
“Shit,” you cursed as James scissored his forefinger and middle finger inside you while rubbing your clit with his thumb. You adjusted your position slightly and practically came right then and there as his middle finger brushed against your g-spot.
“Faster,” you moaned against James’s lips.
“Are you going to cum?” He asked, rubbing your clit faster. You nodded, your bottom lip coming into contact with his lips. He sucked your bottom lip into his mouth and placed more pressure on your clit until you came with muffled moans.
“You have another one in you?” James asked, unbuckling his belt.
“That’s up to you,” you teased as James pulled his cock out. He entered you in one swift movement and you swore you saw tears in his eyes.
“Goddammit I missed this.” He said, adjusting to the almost forgotten feeling of you clenching around him.
“Move, please,” you begged. You had missed the fullness that only James could provide. James started to thrust into you at a deliciously fast pace and you hoped that no one was waiting for the one bathroom stall you were occupying.
“Fuck, I forgot how good you felt.” James murmured in the crook of your neck. He fucked faster and deeper into you until you clenched around him as you came. James gasped and let out a strangled moan as he came inside you. You set your sweaty forehead against his as you came down from your high. He pulled out of you and tucked himself back into his pants.
“I’m gonna go order us some drinks,” James grinned kissing you quickly as you fanned your face.
“Yeah, I’ll meet you back at the table. I need a second to clean up,” you winked, James’s cum dripping down your legs. James walked back to the table and chugged his water. He looked down at his pant leg and saw that there was a questionable stain on it. He knew that you always had a stain remover stick in your bag and grabbed the bag on your seat, rifling through the purse to find it. He didn’t find the stick however, he did find a blue velvet jewelry box that held an engagement ring.
“Oh good, the food’s here. I’m famished.” You said, sitting down and starting to shovel the pasta in your mouth. James held out the ring and looked at you with a set jaw, practically spitting:
“What the hell is this?”

Buddy Daddies - Episode 6 - Thought Post - SPOILERS!
First, we now know that it is May 27th, so Miri has been with Kazuki and Rei for about 5 months now. We are very squarely in the "several months later" time frame when the opening from Episode 1 would likely have occurred. (Since several is usually viewed as being between 4 - 7). I'm personally thinking that the opening bit from Episode 1 has likely already happened/passed, since Rei seems slightly (only slightly) more attentive, lol.
Tumblr media
It's also interesting that the bulletin about the school trip used 父兄 (fukei) instead of 保護者 (hogosha). Both can mean guardians, but 父兄 (fukei) is seen as a bit more outdated and not as all encompassing as 保護者 (hogosha), since fukei is made up of the kanji for "father" and "older brother." It makes me wonder if that little reminder was aimed specifically at Kazuki and Rei, lol.
Tumblr media
Also interesting that Kazuki used ママとも (mama-tomo) instead of ママたち (mama-tachi) or something similar when pluralizing and talking about "the other mothers" when saying "Of course, the other mothers all say the same about their kids." It implies that he sees himself in that group rather than outside of it.
Tumblr media
I really liked how the focus of this episode was in having a bit more faith in your children (and in how you've gone about raising them) and also how children can behave differently in a school setting than at home. Since I have definitely seen that before with kids when I worked as a teacher. I would mention how well behaved they were or mention something behavior-wise during Parent-Teacher Conferences, and the parents would be surprised, since it was different from their at home behavior.
Tumblr media
Taiga was interesting to me, especially because earlier in the episode Kazuki was mentions to Miri that she doesn't understand the difference between right and wrong yet, and many children her age are still learning that and really don't know (also, just realizing that this was said over an image of Rei, highlighting the fact that he is still kind of learning this as well).
Tumblr media
I feel like that was Taiga. We learn later that he is a big Morio Kart fan, but he must have had the impression that the others weren't, so he might have acted out a bit in order to get their attention (the other girls). I had a boy, also named Taiga, who used to behave a bit similarly. He was a big fan of zombies, but none of the other kids were, so he acted out in order to get attention and fit in.
Tumblr media
The miscommunication between what actually happened (Miri accidentally hit his hand) vs. one of the caretakers thought a fight had occurred, is a very true and accurate thing as well. Young kids Miri's age can communicate their thoughts and feelings, but they may have a tough time communicating it properly still.
Tumblr media
Like, Miri knew she didn't hit Taiga and that there hadn't been a fight, but she didn't know how to fully explain it to Kazuki, and likely a similar thing happened with the caretaker at the daycare. They eventually got it all straightened out though.
Tumblr media
I love, love, love that Rei was the one who read through the notebook at the end. And how he took Miri to school with little complaint. He really is wrapped right around Miri and Kazuki's fingers and will go at their pace, huh (like the lyrics of the OP). But, I also think it highlights the ways in which Rei is becoming more proactive too. He seems more engaged with being an actual parent.
Tumblr media
I can't really explain it well here either, but there is something subtle about the writing that really captures and shows how, with each passing episode, they are becoming more and more like a family. Rei and Kazuki's conversation in the car at the end of the episode felt like a very real conversation that parents would have at the end of the day. I felt they did a good job of making Miri and Taiga's friendship feel like a friendship too, and not any kind of 4 year old crush situation (regardless of what Kazuki's overactive imagination might think!)
Last week's episode introduced us to Kazuki's overactive imagination and his flaw of jumping to conclusions, but this week's episode showed how that could negatively impact Miri. I'm glad he has Rei to reel him in, though him imagining Miri as a delinquent girl made me laugh. Though, I am sincerely hoping that Miri turns out to be a lesbian otherwise Kazuki being so overprotective will turn into an issue in the future. Hopefully, Rei will be able to work on that with him over the years.
Tumblr media
The above image, of a teen Miri with a teen Taiga also reminds me of an incident when I was working at as a shadow trainer for an ALT at a junior high school in Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture. The school’s in that area don’t have a great reputation, so while the ALT I was training was teaching a class, I was outside the halls, just going for a little walk. Then I saw two of the students (a boy and a girl) go into the bathrooms together. They had made it clear previously that they were dating, so I just ended up turning around and going in the other direction, because I had zero desire to get involved in any of that - as ALTs you can’t discipline students).
Tumblr media
Rei had some absolutely stellar comedic moments this episode from him asking Miri how the fight went and not caring about the violence (which makes sense given his upbringing). To Kazuki mentioning that Miri got their genes and Rei's reply of "Our what?" (Dude was 100% questioning his understanding of biology and genetics right then), to him adding the "paca" verbal tic at the end of one of his sentences, even after they were out of the mascot outfits, seems he got too in-character, lol.
Tumblr media
His smug expression whenever Miri preferred him was also unexpected but great!
Tumblr media
Oh, also! Before I forget, Miss Anna is a gem and she must have been so worried when she couldn’t find Miri and the others! Anyway, I hope the rest of the field trip was a breeze for her. <3

— — — — — — — — — —
After a week of meeting up Bobby and thinking things over. I have decided to take up Bobby’s offer. She told me that it would take a few days to get it the more important toys of her town to look over the idea.
After three days I went over to the field again. As I waited for Bobby I then noticed something off in the distance of some hills off in the distance.
Before I could get up to go and see what it was. Bobby showed up. She told me that the higher up toys said that you would need to have a meeting with me first before they can completely think the idea over.
I told her that I was ok with it. She then told me that I would need to be blindfolded as well as cared. So that the location of there town will stay hidden. I said ok as long as nothing scary happened.
Bobby then took out a small scarf as she then put it on me as a makeshift blindfold. She then picked me up. I think it was bridal style.
Either way she picked me up. She told me to stay calm, and relax since she was now taking me to the meeting area.
As Bobby cared me we made small talk. She told me about her friends. How she would like me to meet them.
After I guess about ten minutes I hear the sound of Bobby opening a door. When I asked she said where in the office building.
As she then continued to walk she then opens another door. Then placed me down on a chair.
Telling me that the other toys will come into the room in a bit. As well as to not be afraid since she will be right in the room next door waiting for me.
— — — — — — — — — —
I only sat down in the chair I was in with my hands on my lap. As I took some calmed breathes as try to calm my self down a bit.
After a few minutes I then hear the sound of the door opening from my right. After a bit I hear something like metal clinking and clanking agents each other.
I then feel the blindfold being pulled off my face. As my eyes adjusted to the light of the room. I see that only half of the room is lit up since the lite was right on top of we’re I was.
I then look into the darkness in front of me only to see a metal hand. It looked to be made out of metal, wires, as well as having a bit of bones at the wrist area.
Uh…hello? I said nervously as I looked at the hand then into the darkens of the other side of the room.
Hello human
A voice called out as it echoed a bit in the room. It was calm at the same time I felt like what we it was it was watching my every move.
I’ve been sent here to talk with someone. Is that you? I asked as i tilted my head as I looked into the darknes of the room.
Yes, that is right. I’m the one you came to meet with.
Ok then it’s nice to meet you um—
Prototype. My name is the prototype.
Nice to meet you s-sir.
The hand then pulled back into the shadows. Then it came back into view with a packet of papers plus a clipboard with papers. Being held out with only two of its long fingers.
Here. Take the clipboard first.
As I take the clipboard as I then get see a pen attached to the side of it. Ok then. What do you want to ask me?
Well you can fill out the papers on the clipboard. As I ask a few things about you?
Sure I don’t mind. Ask a-away. I told him as I then started to read the papers and fill them out.
What other job did you have before?
Well I’ve been a part time teacher helper and have worked in a daycare before that. I-I’ve also work at food and desserts shops. I even had a at home flower shot for sometime.
I said to the unknown figure. As I continued to fill out the paper now flipping it over to the back.
Ok then what job did your parents have?
Oh um I don’t know. I’ve never had parents I was raised by my grandmother. But she had a bakery.
Ok then. You pass the first text now onto the second. What do you know about this place your trying to get into?
Well I don’t know much but Bobby Barehug told me that it’s very big town. T-That everyone is very nice. That I can find a job here and get along with e-everyone.
I answered as I then finished the paper and re-flipped it over to the front side. And pushed the clipboard over to them.
The hand then took the clipboard into the darkness. I hear as they look throw the paper. As I hear the paper being flipped over to the back. Then reflowed to be on the front again.
Oh then everything looks good. I’m going to discuss this with others. So it may take a while to get you and answer. So in the mean time you can fill out this packet.
The prototype said as there hand pushed the packet of paper over to to me.Ok then I’ll be waiting for your response then.
Bobby you can come in now.
The door then opened showing Bobby at the entrance. Hi BB
Hi y/n. She softy wavered at me as she got into the room.
The meeting is over now. You can take her back to the filed.
Ok then.Bobby said as she then got the blindfolded back and then started to put it around my eyes again.
She then picked me up again now with only one hand. The door being opened was then heard.
But before Bobby could start walking I spoke. Good bye prototype. It was nice meeting you.
The prototype didn’t respond as Bobby then started to walk.
After a bit of silent walking Bobby picked me up and placed my feet on the ground. As she then took of the blindfold.
As my eyes adjusted to the light I then turned around to see she had a worried face.
What’s wrong BB?
I’m just a little nervous on what his answer is going to be. She then started to play with the end of her sweater.
I then went up to her taking her hand and holding them in mine. Well as best as I could with her’s coving my whole hands.
Hey it’s ok BB I’m sure everything will be fine. And if I don’t get the ok to get in then we can just keep meeting up here.
Well it’s almost 5 pm. I have to go home i will be back next Friday with this packet filed out. Hopefully the prototype has an answer by then.
I then gave her a hug and started to walk across the field back to my car.
If only it can be that simple.

Dad Eddie where daughter starts giving people at school the finger because she’s seen her dad do it
anon, so I totally went all out on this one. bringing an unexpected cameo haha than you for this request! I hope this is what you wanted! xx
pairing: dad!Eddie Munson x wife!reader tags: part of my dad!Eddie series, this takes place 1997, Arwen Munson getting in trouble at school, no mention of baby brother but he's alive and probably at daycare (Steve), we're in the principals office oh no, Eddie standing up for his daughter, not so nice teachers, typical Eddie and Arwen behavior, we are fully supportive. word count: 1.7k oops a/n: I have more requests incoming :)
Tumblr media
When you swung open the school’s front door, the smells of childhood filled your senses. Did every elementary school smell the same way? Was that a good thing? Whatever the case, the smells of crayons, cleaning supplies and germs was not how you envisioned your morning.
Your boss was annoyed at your sudden need to leave work at the demand of Arwen’s principal. His tone only meant she had done bad and a parent conference was due. Eddie was on his way from work to meet you as well and together you would both tackle your first (and hopefully last) time sitting in an office due to your daughter's behavior.
“Hi,” You attempted a smile at the receptionist. “I am here for a meeting with the Principal? I’m Arwen Munson’s mom.”
“Ah yes, wait right here.” The woman led you to a row of chairs and you waited patiently.
Arwen was a good kid. She would never do anything maliciously. It was inconvenient that they didn’t explain the reason over the phone, making the dramatics of having you come in. Arwen was in 3rd grade, she was raised to use her words and to be respectful. There was no way she got into a fight or bullied someone. There was no way she’d find herself in those situations. And if she did… You prayed it didn’t come to that.
You couldn’t help but feel that you were in trouble. In middle school, you only had to come to the principal’s office once because of a miscommunication.  Eddie always teases you for your good record and how you’d never do anything bad. In high school, he’d call you adorable for it.
The other side of you were nervous for how this would look as Arwen is the daughter of Eddie Munson. What if she really didn’t do anything wrong but because of her dad, the veteran teachers who once taught her dad are now treating her like they wish they did him. That was unfair. Especially since Eddie was a kid who acted out as a mask. A defense for how he really viewed himself. If only these schools recognized that earlier instead of showing him he wasn’t worth two cents.
The front doors barged open and you heard “I’m here! I’m here! Sorry I’m late. Was stuck under a car for 3 hours.”
“And you are?” The secretary asked nonchalantly. Close to the way the secretary at Hawkins High would sound when she heard a younger Munson run in tardy.
“Oh-” You could hear the surprise in your husband’s voice. “Right, Eddie Munson. Father of Arwen Munson.”
“Your wife is around the corner, you can wait for Arwen and Principal Jenkins there.”
Your husband wrapped around the corner and gave you a smirk when he saw you. He threw a red and black flannel over his work shirt and jeans. A few rings helped make him look more put together and not as if he just came from the repair shop.
“Well well well, I’m getting flashbacks.” He said as he slumped down into the chair next to you. “How are you?” He asked, leaning over to give you a quick kiss as a greeting.
“I was doing good until I got this call.”
“It’s probably nothing.” Eddie reassured.
“If it was nothing, we wouldn’t get called up here. I’m just scared how this will affect her school life from now on.”
“I highly doubt it will, sweetheart. Besides, we don’t know what she did. Maybe this is a good thing! Maybe she got an award!” As he gave your lap a quick pat, you sighed.
“Maybe. Just the tone they gave makes me scared she's in trouble.”
“Mom?” You heard your daughter ask across the office. She stood there with her lunch bag which showed she was pulled from the cafeteria. Her hair was fashioned into a high ponytail after seeing DJ from Full House wear it that way. Her overalls unclasped from one side revealing an old faded band t-shirt that has shrunken from Eddie’s collection. When you locked eyes, she immediately looked away embarrassed of whatever she did.
“Hey, sweet girl.” You smiled.
“Mr. and Mrs. Munson?” You heard someone call from behind you. Principal Jenkins was standing outside her door with a slight smile.
“That’s us.” Eddie responded.
“Come on in.” She walked into her room, inviting you to come inside. Arwen ran over and gave you and Eddie a quick hug before going inside with you. “Please sit.”
The three of you sat in the chairs lined up on the other side of her desk. Arwen sitting between you and Eddie. You rubbed Arwen's back consolingly before facing the principal.
“Thank you for coming on such short notice.” She started. Another set of smiles were sent her way despite you both being annoyed you had to leave work. “I wanted to start off by saying I am very proud of Arwen’s academics. She has complete excellence in all her studies and her special area classes. I wanted to ask if she would be considered for our gifted program.”
Relief ran over you as the good news was delivered. You looked over at Eddie who showed nothing but a proud face. He gently shook your daughter’s shoulders.
“That’s my girl! Yes, that would be amazing.” You noticed Arwen’s lack of enthusiasm and patted her leg.
“Is that something you’d want to do?” You asked.
“There is one thing though.” The principal started.
Oh no.
“It seems this morning Arwen decided to effect that perfect citizenship grade by an act of throwing a middle finger at her substitute teacher as well as some of her students.”
“What?” you asked, baffled.
“I bring this up as a concern because that would affect the final process of the gifted program application. Her homeroom teacher must approve that she is capable of maintaining good citizenship when brought into the gifted classes.” The principal didn’t seem too happy.
“Arwen, baby, why did you do that?” Disappointment settled in as your daughter sat quietly, kicking her feet slightly under her chair.
“Sweetheart, you know that’s not appropriate to do.” Eddie added, yet his face seemed more worried.
“I didn’t mean to. I just got really mad.” She admitted.
“What happened?” You asked.
“Mrs. O’Donnell saw my last name and asked if you were my dad.” She looked toward Eddie. The name rang the bell as your old English teacher from Hawkins High. Guess her retirement meant coming to torment 8 year olds. “I said yes and she said she hopes I don’t turn out like you. That she didn’t like the Munson kids. So I just did it.” Eddie sighed, knowing she didn’t know of the things he went through in school. Including the time he gave Hawkins high Principal and Mrs. O'Donnell the bird as he got his diploma...
Sure she knew he was a bit of a troublemaker but you didn’t tell her specifics. That was unfair of O’Donnell to say that to her but not okay to respond that way, especially with her presumption of Eddie’s children.
“Yes, we are taking care of Mrs. O’Donnell’s behavior but it was not okay to do that on Arwen’s part especially toward her fellow students.”
“They were laughing at me instead of standing up for me!” She exclaimed.
“I can’t take away the mark on her citizenship for that as it is still behavior we do not allow.” The principal added.
“How does that affect her ability to do the gifted program?” You asked.
“Her homeroom teacher has to approve that she is able to show good conduct in difficult situations.”
“I promise, this was a one time thing.” Eddie reassured.
“I do hope so, Mr. Munson. I’m only concerned about how she has learned that behavior.” Her tone showed a hint of judgment.
Your eyes widened, knowing this was a trigger for Eddie.
“My daughter is nothing like me. She is more than I could ever be. I will not tolerate teachers having assumptions of her due to the mistakes I made when I was in school. This gifted program is an amazing opportunity for her and I don’t want that to be affected by anything other than her own accomplishments. We will make sure she does nothing like that again. But she deserves this.”
You’ve never heard Eddie like that before. Prompted by his own past and his defense for your daughter, he truly has shown his growth. You didn’t think you could love him anymore but here you were, smiling wide at him as he stood up for your daughter.
“Thanks, dad.” Arwen smiled.
“We will put it into consideration, thank you for coming in.” Principal Jenkins was lost for words. The three of you stood up and left the office.
“How do you feel about getting checked out and getting some dessert?” Eddie asked Arwen, giving her shoulders a tight squeeze as he led her to the front of the school.
“Eddie…” You whispered.
“It’s okay I need to talk to her about a few things.” You simply nodded, trusting his judgment. “Go grab you stuff from your class, I’ll be checking you out.”
“Okay!” Arwen smiled and ventured toward her class.
You and Eddie walked back toward the front where the secretary you greeted earlier sat.
“Hi, we’re going to check out Arwen Munson for the day.”
“Alright, her class is at a special area class so she will be brought up with her teacher. Wait right here.”
Eddie put his arm around you and you wrapped yours around his waist in response.
“Are you okay?” You asked.
“I’m doing great.” He responded.
“Mr. Munson.” You heard. Turning around, you saw Arwen being brought to the front by Mrs. O’Donnell. This is why he checked her out…
“Ah Mrs. O’Donnell. Missed me so much you came out of retirement to see my daughter.”
“Eddie!” You lightly smacked his back.
“Yes, she is wonderful.” Mrs. O’Donnell deadpanned.
“Oh and thank you for those kind words you said today about me. Always a pleasure knowing you think so highly of me. Have a good one.” He said as Arwen walked toward the two of you. He wrapped her around and led the both of you out of the school.
“But she didn’t, dad.” She looked up at your husband.
“I know,” he said as he shut the door. “and so does she.” He said before quickly flipping off the school and running to his car laughing with Arwen.
So that’s where she learned it from…
Looks like you had to be the one to get onto the both of them but you couldn’t help but be proud of the way they defended each other.

Okay so I did a thing. @passivenovember made an excellent post on twitter about kindergarten teacher!Steve and I indulged.
• • • • •
The first day of school should have been the red flag. Day One of kindergarten was technically a half-day, because the little ones might find their first day of school to be overwhelming. It was a fifty-fifty chance that a student had done preschool before kindergarten, so the day was only from 8am to noon.
Steve had been doing this job for long enough that he had developed a good eye for which kids would be problematic. It was never indicated by the children, themselves.
It was the parents.
The first day of school was an unofficial parent-teacher conference, with Steve meeting every parent and introducing himself and his classroom to them. Plenty of parents were sweet as could be and profusely grateful, because they had been waiting four or five years for this day: the day they’d finally get to have more hours to themselves. Hours for self-care. Hours at their workplace to make better money. An overall passing of the baton to someone else to raise their kid.
As for the kids themselves, they were easy to read in regards to who’d been in daycare or not. They were either very social or immediately minded their own business. The kids who looked around like they were lost were where he devoted the most of his time on the first day.
Lila Hargrove was one of the latter. She walked in, holding her dad’s hand next to her head while the other fiddled close to her mouth. She didn’t suck her thumb, but she seemed to be thinking about it.
Steve stood up from where he crouched next to a table, getting the others settled and extended a hand. “Good morning! I’m Steve Harrington.”
The father was able to shake his hand since he carried his daughter’s purple backpack on one shoulder. “Billy Hargrove. This is my cupcake, Lila."
Hearing her name, her head jerked up, but Steve smoothly knelt on one knee for her level. “Hi, Lila. I’m Mr. Steve. What’s your favorite thing to do?”
He liked giving the kids options on the first day. Coloring? Reading? Blocks? Anything to help them establish a comfort level with the room.
Lila hesitated for a long moment, long enough for Steve to almost stand back up to address her father, but she murmured, “I don’t know.”
“That’s okay,” he reassured. There was nothing wrong with being shy or anxious. Usually mothers or both parents brought their kids in for the big day. A dad on his own…Hargrove was hardly the first, but they were always a bit special. “I made a present for everyone on their first day. Do you and your daddy want to open it together?”
She sure did, looking up at her father with the most hopeful expression, it made Steve’s heart pinch. Billy smiled down at her but prompted, “I see name plates.”
Steve guided them through the room with a brief glance at his other students to make sure they were behaving and occupied. He’d gathered them in one spot, but for lessons, they’d sit in their designated seating arrangement. Pulling out Lila’s chair for her, he explained, “I folded construction paper for everyone’s name plate. One of your first projects, Lila, will be decorating yours. After that, I’ll have them laminated so you can collect stickers on it throughout the year.”
Lila’s name stood on a table in the corner of the room. The nook was framed by cubic shelves and hooks mounted on the walls, which also had names over them: less glamorous marker written on masking tape. Colorful backpacks featuring action figures already hung from some of the hooks. Hargrove took his daughter’s backpack off and set it on her table. “Everything on the school supply list is in here.”
“Great!” Steve said as he took a box bound up with ribbon from one of the shelves. “I try to supply some of the stuff myself, but the school always gives out the same list. Do you want to do the honors?”
Again, Lila looked to her father. Disciplined, Steve wondered in the back of his mind, but the alert didn’t go off in his head. Far from it, he smiled as Hargrove knelt beside her chair and pinched one end of the ribbon bow.
“One? Two…” he counted, and the smile that his daughter blossomed with gave Steve a wave of relief; both in the comfort she had with her father as well as a knowledge of numbers. She took the other ribbon tail and they pulled on three. Lila whipped off the box lid to reveal a small stuffed lion, a Lego block the size of her hand, and a box of glitter crayons.
Hargrove pulled out the soft lion and poised it on the table that she’d be sharing with three other students. “Well, look at him. Does he have a name?”
Steve opened his mouth to prompt Lila to name him, but she piped, “Panthera leo! Like daddy!”
Steve’s mouth froze open around a, “Huh?”
Hargrove grinned as his daughter shoved her hand into his dark blond hair, and then ruffled the lion’s mane. Then he looked up at Steve. “The lion was a good choice. She loves animals right now. She only knows like six, but that includes their Latin name.”
“I…’ve never met a kid who knew Latin,” Steve recovered. “I have a confession, though. The lion and crayons are for you, Lila, but the block is for me. I like for all my kids to write their names on a block so I can build something with them at the end of the year.”
Hargrove’s eyes immediately swept up to the Lego sculptures on top of the arts and crafts cabinets. A small smile ghosted over his face, but he didn’t point them out to his daughter. “Lila can write most of her name but struggles a little with round letters.”
“That’s okay. We do a lot of practice with writing. The block is a promise: I’ll keep it safe for you, and you’ll be able to write your name and help me build something in the spring. How’s that sound?”
Whether or not parents understood the promise didn’t really matter. It was always worth it by the end of the year to remind the kids of their first presents, and seeing their excitement at such a long awaited activity.
Hargrove got it, though. “You play the long game.”
Steve looked up and smiled, only to face the full brunt of Billy Hargrove’s gaze. Attractive was an understatement. Water blue eyes pinned Steve in place, a chiseled jaw but full cheeks giving the man a stop-traffic appeal as well as an approachable softness. His short hair was long enough to imply that he was due for a haircut or in between styles; the broken and wonky curls had been haphazardly shoved to one side of his head. The man wore an ironed button-up, but his shoes gave him away: dirty black Converse with ombré pink and purple shoelaces.
Steve responded on autopilot. “Delayed gratification can be a doozy. Might as well make it fun.”
Hargrove didn’t really answer. He just sort of nodded and returned his attention to his daughter.
Lila Hargrove was a good girl. She loved animals, showed an early propensity for math, and carried the collective sweetness, observation, and behavior skills that teachers longed for.
Billy Hargrove was a red flag. He exhibited over-protective, analytical habits alongside a bizarre talent for filling every minute of Steve’s time when he wasn’t directly managing the kids or other parents coming and going.
Going, being the key word.
Hargrove stayed at the school all the way until noon. Then he donned the purple backpack and carried his daughter out, encouraging her tiny fists into the air for completing her first day.
“Donalds! M’Donalds!” she chanted.
Some time later, as Steve cleaned his classroom, vacuuming the reading time rugs, disinfecting each table, and tagging each Lego block with another masking tape label—so nobody had a crisis in May like, “But my block was Blue in August! Why’s it yellow now?”—a knock sounded on his doorframe.
Steve looked up, prompting Billy Hargrove to stroll in with a familiar paper bag. “Delivery for Mr. Steve. One Oreo McFlurry with a medium fry.”
Steve leaned back in his seat. He’d been standing for most of the morning, he couldn’t be bothered anymore. “Uh, thanks. You didn’t have to do that.”
“Are you lactose intolerant?”
“No?”
“Then it’s my pleasure,” he said with finality, giving the bag a shove to be a few inches closer to Steve. With the smell permeating the room, he couldn’t say no.
He asked while unpacking the bag, “Where’s Lila?”
“Her dance class. My P.A.’s got her while I get some work done. I just wanted to say thanks for catering today for the kids.”
Steve used the time to bite through four fries at once while he formulated an answer. This guy’s got a personal assistant?
“I’m happy to. Their first day in here is kind of the first day of the rest of their lives. It’s my job to help them feel safe and confident in here.”
A smile twitched on Hargrove’s face. “You’re playing nice, but I did notice the other parents leaving their kids in your hands.”
Steve allowed himself a harmless glare. “I can deal with a helicopter dad for a few hours. But after today, it won’t be up to me.”
The man held up a hand as if to gently move that aside. “I won’t need the principal escorting me out. I’m too busy to be here all day, anyhow. I just needed the full measure of the person who would be here with my girl.”
Steve looked up with the massive McFlurry spoon in his mouth. “Anph?”
Billy’s stoic bravado visibly dented as a laugh blurt out of him. “And you’re all right. But if my kid comes home crying, you might not be.”
Steve let exactly what he thought about being threatened ripple under his features as they steeled into what his best friend called, “Customer Service Harrington.”
And yet…he felt pinned in place again...because Billy’s eyes flashed, his expression opening as if he were intrigued—excited—by pissing Steve off. The spark settled as quickly as it manifested, making Steve wonder if he’d imagined it.
“The kids go home everyday with a progress folder. You’ll have my notes on the hottest kindergarten gossip.”
Billy laughed breathily, but it wasn’t as real as the rest of his emotive gestures. He lightly slapped the surface of the desk and dragged his hand away as he pivoted toward the door. “I’m looking forward to it, Harrington.”

Oh yeah!!
Baby boys having a tough week. Lots of stuff going on. Most of it not great. It all feels very heavy. Of course receiving different feedback from different professionals.
Yesterday both my husband and I picked him up from daycare. The teacher asked who was at the door. When baby boy heard my voice he screams "Oh yeah!!" in the sweetest/most excited voice you've ever heard. We took him to pick out a pumpkin at the grocery store. We carved it with him. Then he asked to put on "the eye of the tiger." The song his sisters been playing nonstop as they are learning to play it on the recorder at school. He made me pause the song until they came home from ice skating. Then insisted everyone have a dance party. What a sweet hearted little boy.
I think I need to step away from the research, the nyc special needs what’s app groups, the special needs social media, the assessments, etc. I’m not helping my kid by staying up all night scrolling special needs parenting Reddit accounts, reading research papers, etc. I know that but when I can’t sleep it’s where I go. He’s at his worse at assessments. He doesn’t like it and very clearly let’s us know by his behavior. It’s not helping him and it’s not helping us. I may have to let getting him into an appropriate Kindergarten go. He beyond the academic material so it will be the bad behavior. I think the bad behavior will get him where he needs to be for 1st grade. I was trying to avoid a year of stress for him. If it’s gets super bad I’ll quit my job and keep him home. We can’t afford it but we will have to figure it out. But that maybe the best I can do despite spending so so so much time and so so so much money. I got him a good 4k spot- which is more than some kids with his issues get. Most kids don’t even have appropriate schools in their city.

I never understood the thing with Isadora Starfighter. She just went to visit different planets every book, stayed there, left. It got so boring after it happened for a fourth time.

No? Of course I haven’t read book 6. I lost interest at book 4. Didn’t even know there was 6 books.

Here is a synopsis of what happened in book 6. If you dare to call that boring then I will hunt you down and throw acid at you.

It’s so funny that every time I say I have a dream, people get so intrigued. Maybe because my dreams have tended to either predict the future, give me clues of what to do next when I’m in doubt, or given insight into my early childhood.

I got to know that my first word was ”fuck”.
My life is complete
🌼 punk-not-dead follow
Ok, I hear you, you wanna hear about my life.
So I was at daycare, age 1. I was awfully quiet, which the teachers deemed suspicious. They went up to check on me. I was just playing with blocks, not harming anyone.
As I finished my block tower, I smiled mischieviously and yelled ”FUCK!” as I kicked the tower down.
The daycare teachers contemplaited if they should call my parents or not, and eventually decided not to, but wrote about the incident in my daycare reports card (which is how I know of this information). I also know it’s one of my first words because they wrote, and I quote, ”She’s only been communicating in grunts and babbles and this was the first clear word.”
🌼 punk-not-dead follow
Ok, so you may wonder how I learned this word. Many people guess I’ve heard adults swear. But the thing is, my parents NEVER swear. I also got to hear that the only things I got to see on TV as a 1 year old was VHS tapes of kids shows my parents had recorded beforehand that they deemed suitable (they were way stricter back when they only had me. The second the twins were born they did a 180 switch to hippie parenting).
So my theory for how I learned the word? From my previous life.
You see, I have this theory that the reason we do not remember anything in our first years on the planet is because our spirit from a previous life is guiding us on how to live. They feed us ideas and tips on how to navigate life. And when they deem us to be ready, they leave our body, and that’s when we have our first memory. That’s why when you have your first memory you don’t remember anything beforehand. You’re kind of just thrown in and you’re familiar with everything but you don’t know why you are.
Anyway, I think the spirit from my previous life cursed a lot, so I was probably influenced. And thus, my first word was fuck, even though no one around me had ever uttered those words.

So… hi.
I’ve never really talked about this, or really… thought about it, to be honest, until recently.
A lot of my friends are LGBTQ+. Like, a lot. I think… all of them. And I’ve always supported them, and I’ve been known as the ”token ally” of the group. I’ve considered myself straight, because from what I know, I’ve only liked boys. The thing though is, I’ve only really had a crush on one boy. No one else before, no one else after.
I think that I’ve also just been really heteronormative in general. Always assumed my female friends had crushes on boys, I never saw hints or signs… when consuming media, I never really noticed any subtext either. I was very often ”if this female character is shown to like this boy, I will assume that she only likes boys” and I never really got it when people shipped two characters of the same gender if they weren’t dating in canon. ”But they’re only good friends? And they dated boys in canon?” I can also add that, I for the most part consumed media that focused on straight couples. Never, or just rarely, were there even a gay character there, and if there was then it was just a side character. I had barely seen or read any queer media. I hadn’t seeked it out, either. I was just in my little bubble of books, shows and films I liked. And I mean, so is a lot of people!
However, movie nights with my friends have made me get so many new perspectives on things. Our movie nights are essentially a ”show the others something you like”, so everyone picks a movie or some episodes from a show they like, and show everyone else. A great way to get cultured in stuff you’re not usually into, and to get to show your friends something you’re personally into. And I think in the past year, I’ve seen more quer films and shows than what I’ve had in all of my life. And even when we don’t watch explicitly queer media, my friends have managed to put in those perspectives and made me notice things I wouldn’t otherwise. And it’s made me look at movies I’ve seen several times in a sudden new light.
One night, I was the one to comment about something I found queer coded in one of the movies we saw, and one of my friends commented ”You notice so much queer stuff for a straight person!”
We all laughed about it, but at that moment I realized… for some reason it didn’t feel good to hear that I was straight. I mean, I was… that’s what I always assumed about myself. So… why did it feel off when another person said I was?
Everyone around me was queer. I couldn’t ask anyone ”how do you know you’re straight?” because… no one was.
So I wondered… what if I’m… NOT straight? But how do I know I’m not?
I’ve never had a crush on a girl, I don’t THINK. But the thing is, maybe I have, and I didn’t realize it at the time. I haven’t had a lot of experience in romance in general, and due to thinking pretty ”straight”, I might have not considered it.
I know it’s not a requirement to feel attraction to the same gender to be not straight. You don’t even need to feel attraction to anyone at all, because it’s more than romance and sexual feelings. I’ve learned so much just hanging out with my everyday peers.
My mom’s partner, a woman (my mom is a lesbian, too), told me that people out of society’s norms often manage to find each other even before they know why. She told me her closest group of friends, when they got to know each other all of them were thought to be straight and cis. Now, all of them have come out, either as gay, or bi, and even the ones who still are straight turned out to be trans. And maybe it’s true, that eventually everyone in the group turns out to be queer in some way.
The thing is, I don’t know how to label myself. It does not feel good calling myself straight. It doesn’t feel like that’s what I am.
Recently I told my friends this. I don’t know why I was nervous about telling them… maybe it was like I killed the perception they had of me. But I should have never been nervous. They immediately showered me with support and told me, it’s perfectly fine to not have a specific label to you (no matter how much you want to be organized and put people into boxes and categories, like I can be sometimes). Sexuality is fluid, and it can always change. Whatever feels right in the moment may change as you grow, and learn more about yourself.
So… I have a lot to figure out, but I wanna tell you all that I am fairly certain that I am not straight.
Happy pride month to everyone, especially those who have not had it all figured out just yet. Here’s to us.

happy father’s day to wayne munson 💕
excerpt from gone away, my love letter to wayne…
Miss Dunham, the teacher’s aide, opened the front door for him as he ran, heart pounding, toward the building. “Hi, Mr. Munson,” she greeted him cheerfully. She didn’t sound angry. “Eddie’s waiting for you in the Activity Room. I’ll show you where it is.” She chatted to him as they walked through the school, telling him that Eddie had a good day, he was a very bright and sweet boy— Wayne already knew that, but it still made him happy to hear it— and, most importantly, that a few of the teachers ran an after-school daycare program for kids whose parents both worked. “Or guardians,” she added hastily, glancing at him. “I don’t know if that’s something you’d be interested in, but if so you could enroll Eddie any time during the year.” Wayne assured her he would definitely be interested.
He eagerly scans the room for his nephew as soon as Miss Dunham pushes the door open, and his heart does something funny in his chest when he catches sight of the boy. Something that he’s fairly sure a flowery dime store novelist would describe as “leaped for joy”. Eddie is sitting at a small table with a few other kids, all of them coloring pictures of what looks like Halloween monsters. A brief half-formed thought about costumes flutters through his head, but it completely vanishes when Eddie catches sight of him and his entire face lights up with a huge smile. He jumps up, nearly knocking his chair over, and Wayne is dropping to his knees before he even realizes what he’s doing, holding out his arms to catch Eddie as the little boy flings himself wildly at him.
“Hey, little darlin’,” he murmurs into his nephew’s curly hair. “I’m so sorry I’m late. I got here as quick as I could, honest.”
“‘S’okay,” Eddie whispers, and Wayne squeezes him a little tighter before letting go. Miss Dunham is watching them with a fond smile. He breathes a sigh of relief; he hasn’t messed up too badly. “Ready to go?” he asks, and Eddie nods happily, rushing to grab his jacket and backpack. He whispers a goodbye to the kids he was sitting with, and Wayne’s heart does the funny leap again at the kids’ friendly sounding chorus of “bye, Eddie!” with smiles and waves. It leaps even harder when Eddie thanks Miss Dunham on their way out.
He wonders briefly if it’s odd to feel so much pride— after all, he wasn’t the one who taught the boy those nice manners— but he can’t help the warm glow that washes over him when Eddie reaches up to take hold of his hand. He decides to quit trying to figure it out and just enjoy it.
“I’m sorry I was so late,” he apologizes again as he leans into the car to buckle Eddie’s seatbelt. “Be honest, now,” he adds, “did you think ol’ Uncle Wayne forgot you?”
“I didn’t think you forgot,” Eddie says quietly. His lower lip quivers as he continues, “But I was scared something bad happened to you.”
“Nothing bad’s gonna happen to me, little darlin’. I’m fixin’ to be around for a long time.” He gently wipes away the single tear that escaped with his thumb. “But I’m sorry I made you scared.” He slides behind the wheel, and catches his nephew’s eye in the rear view mirror. “I’m usually real good at keeping promises. I feel bad that I promised you I’d be here and then I wasn’t. Will you let me try again tomorrow?” And Wayne’s heart does that strange leap of joy again when Eddie smiles and nods.
As they’re passing Benny’s diner he has a sudden impulse, and pulls into the parking lot. “I think your very first day of school deserves a little celebration, don’t you? Let’s get some ice cream and you can tell me all about it. Sound good?”
“Sounds real good,” Eddie agrees. He’s barely out of the car when Wayne has another sudden impulse. He pounces, lifting Eddie up high and swinging him in circles. The little boy’s delighted squeals and giggles fill the air and Wayne’s ears and an empty place in his heart he hadn’t even realized was there.
