New hobby just dropped (new hobby has been brewing for the last 3+ years)

1: 64mo blank book, aka 1/64 of a letter sized piece of paper. Total 1.5 sheets, dimensions ~1x1.5 in.

2: progress pic, the 64mo textblock. second binder clip is an attempt to make something even smaller than a 64mo

3: progress pic, the 64mo cut and folded signatures, ready to be punched and sewn

4: sticker of my bindery logo, which I designed myself :) + quarto notebook bc I made the textblock forever ago as practice, started using it as a notebook, and then figured if I was gonna use it, I should put a hard cover on it. It currently serves as my reference guide (paper size, suppliers, margins, etc).

Anyways it's so over. I'll see you in hell (WIP list)

Since stepping foot in the Oldest House and beginning her unconventional career as its Director, Jesse had done some things she'd regretted - gotten into arguments with the Board, fought a fair number of the old guard, momentarily lost herself to the Hiss, everything that had happened with Dylan...but this? Oh, putting the tape into the VCR was the worst decision she'd ever made.

"GEE MEG, WHAT'S THAT AWWWFUL SOUND? HEY, ARE THE WALLS MOV - AUGHUAGHUARUHGGHHGHHH!" was what she, uh, thought Topher said before his tiny puppet body was sucked into the little cardboard set, bisected and twitching, a horrendously cartoonish imitation of a House Shift.

"I still can't believe Trench's people thought The Threshold Kids was a good idea," Jesse said slowly, her arms folded and her brow furrowed, visibly wincing as Meg waddled over and began trying to pry Topher's leg from out of the House itself.

"I know, it's unthinkable," Emily began, providing a completely reasonable and normal response to the papercraft gore they were witnessing...until she pointed her pencil at the screen and continued, "I mean, that's the worst visual representation of a building Shift I've ever seen - there's absolutely no usable information a child could glean from this!"

Happy STS! I’m currently obsessing over this myself, so I’ve decided to infect others with it too~ In a Coffeeshop AU of A Tangled Knot of Gold, what would the characters look like? Who’s the employee(s) vs patron(s)? Favorite drink order? Is it a massive chain store or a little local establishment? Go wild!

Oooooh this is from last week and I know you're skipping this week, but I am SO excited to answer! I think that Soter would be the shift manager of a small local coffee shop and bakery. Zie doesn't own it, but spends a great deal of time and effort on it. Zie makes seasonal bulletin boards every month and changes out the menu to match. Zie knows all of the regular customers by name and their usual orders and always has a smile and a general bright energy that keeps people happy and coming back. The coffee is good and so are the donuts/muffins, but they might not otherwise be quite worth the price.

Tlapil is still Soter's cousin and spends a great deal of time in the coffee shop. Tlapil is mostly nonverbal and has AAC on eson phone, but prefers eson deck of communication cards because it's nice to have something so concrete and real. They can get plenty complex when eson arranges them into sentences. But mostly eson is left alone to journal and make papercrafts, sometimes read a book, until Soter finishes zir shift.

Tlapil's slime friend (SF for now because she doesn't have a name yet) in human form is the epitome of artistic clumsiness. She has big bushy curly hair and is very nice and helpful but struggles to learn all the buttons and orders and do them fast enough. They meet the first time when SF asks what Tlapil is working on and is not only patient with eson answer, but fascinated by the cards. They meet the second time when Tlapil takes pity on her and shows her how to do everything--which eso knows because eso spends so much time in the shop observing Soter. After that they're friends and chat on SF's breaks or meet before her shift to hang out at the game store and arcade down the street. There would be a whole chapter dedicated to them visiting the waterpark on SF's day off.

There aren't a whole lot of other characters developed for this story yet, but definitely halfway through it would be revealed that the owner of the cafe is a known character with some kind of tension with Soter. There's a sideplot where Soter's two middle siblings run off and save the world through shenanigans, but only ever in the background.

Life is pretty chaotic this time of year when one works retail, so I haven’t been posting much of anything.  I have been stitching when I can, though!  While a lot of these will end up as cards that may get their own post eventually, that’ll be in a few months at best (assuming I even remember), and since @mathysphere asked to see what I’ve been working on -- here’s a general post for all of them for now!

I managed three fall-themed pieces for Halloween, and over the last few weeks I’ve been working my way through some of the small patterns in my stash that I haven’t stitched yet -- both to weed out any that I don’t care to keep, and to give myself some options for seasonal cards this year!  As an atheist I don’t send out holiday cards as such, but I do love sending people a bit of warmth and color to brighten what is often a very long winter.  I’ve had to fall back on papercraft shenanigans for the last few years just for lack of time, but cross-stitch will always be my craft of choice so I’m trying to get back to stitching at least some of them.  I’m also trying to use up some of the fabric scraps and samples that are too small for most uses.  They aren’t always easy to stitch on, but I do hate to waste them!
