PREFACE

so you’re probably wondering. What is this weird sapphic tirade of 3K words? Well, this “note bible” was originally something I was going to keep for myself but figured others may want to see it too. This document is similar to a character bible, hence the name, except it’s more of a deep dive into two particular characters, strung out like notes. Please keep in mind that this document does not go into every idea I’ve had about these two but is more or less the basic ideas for the sake of consistency. This goes over canon and non-canon information which are separated so you know what’s true vs my own interpretations, though depending on which version of this post you’re reading, you may notice that there’s only canon information—which is more or less to let you have your own ideas from their purely canon-selves without the inspiration of my own non-canon ideas—the cut version of this document is also considerably smaller (1.7K). If you’re not on the canon cut version, then obviously the previous statement can be ignored. Regardless, I hope you have fun reading!

ESTABLISHING THE IDIOTS

let’s get down the gist of these sillies!

Goombella:

A junior at the university of Goom majoring in Archeology and seems to also consider herself a historian

- sassy, genuinely seems like she’d bite people’s fingers off sometimes

- nerd (but would backfire if you called her that given the note above)

- confident (of course, there are moments where she loses this but most of the time she seems rather self-actualized about things)

- kind, but does tend to poke fun at others (I can’t believe she called Koops cringe)

- curious

- knowledgeable (though she does make her mistakes regarding things like being fooled by Doopliss)

- excitable (after reading her dialogue over and over she uses a LOT of exclamation points. Girl calm down)

- kind of a hot head at times and jealous type, especially with how Ms. Mowz goes after Mario (Goombella definitely had a crush on him as well) and snaps back a lot though this could just be related to her mentioned sass

- this isn’t so much a character trait but she says “totally” a lot as well as “oh my gosh” which this one may be a catchphrase

Non-canon interpretations:

- has ADHD, needs meds or she loses her mind and becomes scrambled (top of the line “gifted” kid)

- possibly has a fear of heights given her comments at Hooktail’s castle making her nervous

- most Goombas seem to have two prominent fangs so I assume she’s missing one

- half Australian and half Maltese (has slightly an Australian accent but mostly sounds American)

- intersex, given Goombas are based off of mushrooms (and also chestnuts but I digress) and mushrooms are intersex, took estrogen to appear more feminine and identifies as a woman (this still applies to her gijinka, just that her species of demi-human is also all intersex)

- futch (femme/butch, will wear either or-or dress equal)

- has a lot of (unsuccessful) relationship experience which adds to her anxiety about her feelings for Vivian, specifically having dated three other people

- Full name is (Goom)Bellami Alessia Bones (Goom is a family title and not actually required to say, though she prefers to be called Bella than Bellami)

- 21 years old (while she has no confirmed age her being in her early 20s makes the most sense given she’s a Junior at university)

- has an earthy/dirt yet flowery scent

- has a cut on her right eyebrow

- loves savory flavors but occasionally enjoys spicy and sweet (Goombas have a main diet of meat so she tends to eat a lot of that)

- executive dysfunction sometimes causes her to not clean herself, but if someone complains then she will (she tends to carry around a perfume bottle)

- pansexual (possibly a coping lesbian)

- (gijinka) is missing the majority of her right forearm though she has a prosthetic for it (was born like that) and is missing almost all of her left arm aside for the shoulder (incidental)

- swears fairly often

Vivian:

Youngest of the three shadow sirens/sisters with the ability to use fire magic

- shy/somewhat reserved (opens up more later on, still shy but less reserved)

- cutesy (how the fuck did she speak with a heart symbol in one of her quotes)

- graceful

- polite

- sweet/kind (there should be no mistake to how far Vivian’s forgiveness goes considering she’s willing to forgive her own family that abused her for years—Vivian disowning them is not something Vivian herself would do)

- empathetic/sympathetic (I think about her random glitz pit dialogue a lot and how she worries if her and Mario did a bit too much on the enemies. But also she sometimes says “NO MERCY” she’s so silly)

- curious (moreso about most things being new to her due to being sheltered by her sisters for so long)

- submissive, though gains some confidence later on (this is just my own take but I feel like it’d take her longer than it does in-game to be more confident given the severity and length of abuse she experienced)

- struggles with an inferiority complex (this is actually a canon thing and made mention of) at the hands of her sisters abuse

- says “gee whiz” a lot, might be a catchphrase

- tends to stutter when nervous (possibly easy to fluster, especially considering she likely has not received a lot of compliments in her life)

Non-canon interpretations:

- possibly has athazagoraphobia (the fear of being forgotten) or just has general struggles with the concept

- given her trauma (mental/emotional abuse, unsure if there’s ever been physical though in one of the translations of the game Beldam apparently starved her, neglect from Marilyn), she probably would struggle with depression, anxiety and PTSD

- dysphoric, obviously feels better about herself the further into her transitioning (something about Vivian makes me feel like she’d struggle with dysphoria—it’s already a lesser discussed topic among fictional transwomen and given Vivian’s upbringing I think it’d make sense that she particularly has this and would make mention of it)

- she’s autistic and I can’t exactly explain why but someday I will (this very well could be projection uhhh. Anyway she probably doesn’t even know she has it or what it is, has had struggles to learn magic as the ways her sisters were trying to teach her weren’t working for her)

- demisexual-biromantic (I feel like it just makes sense for her to be this way given how she warms up to Mario and the same would apply to Goombella)

- has a beautiful singing voice partially learned from vocal training herself, however she is also called a shadow siren

- a piece of the Shadow Queen, her future

- has no exact ethnicity hc aside for being black as a gijinka, she’s something else entirely and can speak all languages (including sign language and braille) but mainly speaks English and Latin (if she were to be an actual human she’d be Eritrean and Sammarinese)

- femme (specifically loves to wear flowy things like dresses and skirts, the most “masculine” thing she’d wear is a suit)

- Has no full name, simply known as Vivian (if her and Goombella were to marry then she’d be Vivian Bones :flushed:)

- 20 years old

- has a smoldering lavender scent

- (gijinka) actually lost one of her legs while learning to veil, simply conjured up a convincing new one that she can freely remove

- can swear, refuses to do so (she’s too nice and polite the silly thing)

- is a pure-magical being so she requires frequent mana consumption to live, fire flowers are her favorite thing to use for this

- unaffected by fire and heat, can touch it without pain, body temperature is always high, only sweats when she’s sick, it’s very unusual for her to feel cold

- loves sweet, spicy and hot flavored things

- very clean, loves to shower or bathe (sometimes very atmospheric about it with hot water and candles)

- I like to think that she becomes a bookworm and wants to learn more about magic, but also reads up on psychology after the things she’s been put through

- shadow’s eyes are extremely sensitive to light, their hats have magical properties that keep them safe and shadow over them, without it she can only open her eyes in complete pitch-darkness, otherwise she keeps them closed (their gloves also work as buffers for their magic to make spells less intense, they’re sorta limiters in a way, Vivian especially has to wear them due to having fire powers and well… fire is commonly seen as destruction more than life)

- left handed, can use right okay

- knows how to cauterize wounds using her magic

- during new moons her appearance changes to more resemble the Shadow Queen, gaining more shades of purple and little stars speckling all over her, as well as having her eyes always shown

HOW THE FUCK DID WE GET HERE?

vivibella stems from Goombella’s tattle dialogue during the first battle with the three shadow sirens as shown:

note that this dialogue varies from the original GameCube version of the game compared to the Switch remake above:

unfortunate how the dialogue was nerfed compared to the original, making her seem jealous rather than having some kind of sapphic awakening but now I think of it as she’s deflecting what she’s feeling

DYNAMICS

- has a sort of opposites attract kinda thing going on, Goombella being the more open and expressive one while Vivian is the shy and reserved one

- enemies to friends to lovers

- love triangle (for the fact they both had a crush on Mario at one point but Goombella never seemed to be bothered by Vivian’s feelings for him unlike how she’s felt about the other women pining after him, she probably respects Vivian’s feelings for him given what he meant to her)

- the studier (Goombella) and one to be studied (Vivian) idk if there’s an actual name for this dynamic but I went into this concept a bit in this tweet:

THAT ITALIAN GUY

Before we get into the meat of vivibella, it must be understood what Mario meant to these two. As it goes in TTYD, Mario for some reason is just a MAGNET for ladies and Goombella and Vivian are no exception to this, most of the female characters seem to express having a crush on him but let’s take a look at them individually:

Goombella particularly seems to fall under having a crush on him but she’s rather dismissive of it/acts like she doesn’t in a teasing way. She expresses jealousy whenever other female characters pursue him (think of Flurrie and Ms. Mowz, even speculates on Lady Bow post-game) but doesn’t with Vivian, likely due to the fact that Vivian doesn’t express her feelings for him around anyone (aside for the finale) considering during Chapter 4 it’s only her and Mario together when she kisses him—we don’t exactly know how Goombella would feel about Vivian’s feelings for Mario, but I think she’d probably be the most respectful to her given the things she’s been through and how Mario helped her open up and improve. During her letter to Mario at the end of the game, she talks about a “secret” which I imagine has to do with her crush on him, but she doesn’t follow through with it likely due to Mario’s pursuit of Peach

Vivian and Mario have a much deeper relationship compared to all the female characters that fall for him. Vivian definitely has a crush on him but also seems to actually be in love with him given the events that transpire; Mario helping her through her trauma and accepting her without question and also being a lending hand to someone in need despite his own troubles at the time of having lost his name, body and trusted companions. Even after realizing who he is and leaving given that he was her enemy at a certain point, she comes back upon realizing what he showed her and valued that over everything else as being the first person to EVER be kind to her. She turned her back on her family for him. During the final battle Vivian attempts to confess to him as well as during the end of the game when he’s leaving, but hesitates again due to the fact that she knows that he’d choose Peach and even thinks that the two would make a great couple. I’m sure it would be hard for Vivian to move on from him, he’s probably the first person she’s ever loved in such a way and again, he’s the first person to show her real kindness

THINKING TOO HARD

Goombella is obviously the one to crush first given her tattle dialogue, she may be kinda sassy about her feelings for her when teased by others but when she’s actually around Vivian she’s more reserved and anxious due to her shy and gentle nature, in some ways I feel like she may fear possibly scaring Vivian away by being too forward and is also afraid of the possible rejection as she’s aware of Vivian’s feelings for Mario despite him eventually not being in the picture (and of course possibly being unaware to the fact that Vivian is bi). Goombella’s probably very likely a girlfail and a fumbler when it comes to flirting but god if she isn’t confident about it and Vivian finds it endearing. I think it makes the most sense for her to confess later on as I’m sure she probably reaches some form of boiling point and just drops all her words out after being unable to hide it anymore (Vivian doesn’t like to assume things about others typically so that’s why I don’t see her confessing first instead)

Goombella falls first but I feel like Vivian would fall harder as the two of them grow closer, Vivian already experienced rejection from Mario so in some ways she probably wasn’t expecting to find successful love anytime soon nor in a more similar way to how Mario was with her. Of course, Goombella isn’t exactly like him at all but the kindness and patience is still there, albeit with some attitude which Vivian doesn’t mind. I think it would take a bit for Vivian to catch onto Goombella and her own feelings given her experience with Mario. This being her second experience with love, she’s definitely very inexperienced regarding all of it which is why she holds back. With my hc of Goombella having been through her own form of transition, a lot of comfort is to be found there for Vivian as they’re somewhat similar due to that. I don’t think Vivian really knows how to flirt but she’d give lots of compliments and do gestures, she’s also a girlfail but in a graceful way and tries not to show it, she’s kinda a secret dork (and I mean. With the fact she stutters when nervous. There isn't anyway this girl isn't also a girlfail of her own like come on now)

Regarding my own lore, I like to think that these two live together in Goombella’s Uni dorm after the events of TTYD. Vivian switches on Fridays to live with her sisters then back with Goombella the following Friday so on and so forth to help rebuild a healthy connection with them while with Goombella she explores herself given she’s been stuck with her sisters for so long. Their situation isn’t helped by the fact that they have to share a bed due to the limitations of Goombella’s Uni dorm size, though it is fancier as it’s more like an apartment with separate rooms, (basically consists of two small bedrooms, the other bedroom being her roommate’s, a living space and kitchen combo as well as a bathroom) still small though

Goombella tends to go to Flurrie for advice regarding her feelings for Vivian, while Vivian goes to Lady Bow after forming a friendship sometime after TTYD’s events. I also like to think that Flurrie and Lady Bow end up coming together to scheme about the two of them (neither are aware of this until they start dating)

Their relationship builds off of living together and Vivian learning about herself, Goombella there to guide her as someone who already knows her own life and the steps she took to get to where she’s at—the two spend a lot of time together obviously and Goombella strives to try and get something out of the two of them than just a friendship given her own growing feelings, even if it takes being more patient

Even on the weeks when Vivian’s living with her sisters Goombella tends to visit her and hang out, sometimes sleeping over as well. Vivian along the way starts to realize how Goombella’s care for her is much deeper than she originally thinks it is—in some ways Vivian already feels inspired by someone like her who is so confident and self assured, she could use someone like her to give her a nudge in the right direction

They probably even go out on adventures together which further strengthens their bond, which of course may stir up trouble and that leaves room for needing to rely on each other or help each other in such times of need (who doesn’t love some hurt and comfort mmmm)

CLOSING STATEMENT

Anyway, that’s really all I have though I have a feeling that even AFTER publishing this I’ll be still tweaking this until the day I die. I love these two very much if that uh….. Isn’t obvious at all. uh huh. I hope you gained some kind of enjoyment and understanding out of all this gay nonsense from these strange little sapphic creatures that have been rotting my brain for months :3

What's a headcanon/story about your Koopalings, that no one has asked the right question yet, for you to tell about?

(Like, you have a headcanon about their favourite foods or something, but no one has asked about that yet)

I totally forgot to share their dynamics like long ago so quick chart I made to quickly summarize the more important dynamics (plus some extra ones)

The last one is a little joke that goes with a short fic I was writing of the Koops worrying about Jr and Larry becoming adults since enough bad things have happened to the rest of them because of lore reasons™ (the point in which this fic takes place in my timeline is when everyone's doin' good tho so nothing to worry about)

Anyways I wanted to share some little tidbits of the fic cuz why not

Also as a treat, I will share some dumb trivia for them (I did already share some of Iggy's stuff before but I'll just leave it here since I just took it from these lol ToT) and I've included Jr as well!

Cooking Skills

Ludwig- Cooking hasn't been his strong suit for a long time and prefers to not “Meddle with those affairs”(his words). 

Lemmy- He's able to cook but usually only cooks stuff he knows and never really ventures out to try new things. But he's always happy to try if it's something everyone agrees on wanting to eat. 

Morton- Used to suck but has become the best chef out of all of them. He enjoys cooking for others and always offers to do it. 

Roy- Can cook basic level things but he's not really good at it. He doesn't like waiting so sometimes it gets burnt. 

Iggy- Absolute dogshit at cooking. Do not let him near a stove unless you want something to blow up. 

Wendy- She's good at cooking but it's not something she likes doing regularly all the time. God forbid having to cook with her other siblings too, it'd just be chaos. 

Larry- Only knows how to use the michael wave.

Jr- He waits to be served.

Singing Voice (formatted this on an understanding that this is them having a karaoke night)

Ludwig- He's good at singing but I think it's one of those voices that are just decent in their own way rather than being outstanding. It's probably one of the few things Ludwig is okay about not being perfect. 

Lemmy- He's pretty tone deaf but he tries. Everyone cheers him on for his enthusiasm. 

Morton- He sings quietly but he's not actually half-bad. It's not something he really likes doing so he just lets anyone else sing if they want the mic. 

Roy- Not that great and he falsettos a lot. He probably steals the mic the most. 

Iggy- He's alright at singing but can’t reach high notes well and is quite flat. 

Wendy- The best singer out of them all. She has a powerful voice and is a showoff about it. 

Larry- His singing is quite nice but prefers rapping more. He's the type of mf who beatboxes at crazy speeds. 

Jr- He's actually pretty good at singing too but it embarrasses him the most since everyone is so enthusiastic for him when he does. 

Dance Skills

Ludwig- Only knows how to waltz because of course he does. Outside of that, he dances exactly like a dad. He makes sure to avoid Bowser during parties so the others can't compare them. 

Lemmy- A total dancing machine. He mostly likes to do break dancing and disco but can quickly pick up on other dances as well. 

Morton- Doesn't seem like someone who dances, but he will get down if the situation calls for it. 

Roy- A great dancer who always likes to show off whenever he's partying. He can breakdance, pop and lock, moonwalk, you name it, he can do it. He's also a really good teacher and teaches a dance class in his spare time. The only time he ever wanted to give up on a student was when he was teaching Iggy. 

Iggy- Can't dance for shit, like he literally has no rhythm. The only move he knows is the floss and it took the gang forever to teach him how in the first place. 

Wendy- A very graceful dancer and knows ballet. Though she's always ready to be on the dance floor too. How could she not when she and Roy are literally besties?

Larry- A pretty good dancer. He can pick up moves easily and knows how to groove. 

Jr- He tries to act too cool and cross his arms all like “Heh, I don't dance” but in reality, it's because he's embarrassed that he's a clumsy dancer.

Now that more people have played TTYD, I wanted to compare and contrast a few things between that game and Super Paper Mario. In particular, this post will focus on...

PARTNERS AND SIDE CHARACTERS!

The Thousand-Year Door really shines with its partners and side characters, in part because every chapter allows one of these side characters to be a protagonist. This also ties into the "each chapter has its own subplot" idea that SPM lacks, at least in the beginning.

! SPOILERS FOR THE THOUSAND YEAR DOOR !

(and minor spoilers for Super Paper Mario)

Chapter 1 allows Koops to have a mini-arc where he’s avenging his father. Even though his father turns out to be alive, this adventure to defeat Hooktail marks an important development in his character that leads him to continue traveling with Mario. In SPM, while the first chapter does drop a few key pieces of information on the Ancients, there's not really a clear subplot or side character to follow.

Chapter 2 starts out with Punio and his desire to rescue his sister, and branches out (heheh) into the Punies trying to defend their home. Meanwhile in SPM, there's a bit of a sub-plot with Mimi and Merlee that places them both in the spotlight, but that's mostly it. If the chapter had given a little more attention to the other prisoners of Mimi's debt scheme, then maybe it could've come close to establishing the environment in the same manner as TTYD.

Chapter 3 kind of puts the entire cast of the Glitz Pit in the limelight, since you don’t really know who’s who until nearing the end. I can’t really argue that it makes Jolene the protagonist because that reveal comes only once the chapter ends--but after you realize Jolene's role in the mystery of the Glitz Pit, it becomes clear that she is a key protagonist in chapter 3, and the revival of Prince Mush serves as the completion of her arc. Again, chapter 3 of SPM could've pulled this off by giving characters like Carrie some more involvement in defeating Francis; after all, she was a victim of his weirdness too, right?

After playing the first three chapters of TTYD, you begin to feel more invested in the plot of the game. However, the first three chapters of SPM are weaker in terms of establishing interest, which is largely why many people who first played the game didn't stick with it past this point. However, around chapter four, the tides begin to turn!

Chapter 4 of TTYD follows the people of Twilight Town, as you are immediately introduced to the plight of their pig curse. However, after the first battle with Doopliss, the chapter places Vivian in the spotlight. Vivian becomes the protagonist in this chapter as she finally learns to overcome her fear of her sisters and fight for what she believes in. Chapter 4 of SPM actually has Squirps as a side-protagonist, so it comes pretty close to matching TTYD's pattern here.

Chapter 5 puts Flavio in the spotlight. He is...quite the personality! He's a flamboyant, arrogant coward who's given a Brave Moment during the climax of the chapter. In SPM, we have the conflict of the Cragnons and Floro Sapiens in the forefront of the chapter, which helps better establish the world of chapter 5.

Chapter 6, being all about solving mysteries, puts your partnership with Pennington in the spotlight, thus making The Penguin With the Improbably Large Brain a protagonist of the chapter. In SPM, chapter 6 focuses on the Sammer Guys as their world is on the verge of erasure.

Chapter 7 puts the main plot of the Thousand-Year Door back in focus, so there's not much of a sub-plot. However, you could still argue that TEC is made into a protagonist for this chapter, given his act of sacrifice at the end. And of course, Super Paper Mario has Luvbi as a protagonist, and her arc with Jaydes and Grambi as a sub-plot of sorts.

In chapter 8 for both games, all the strings tie together and the focus is placed primarily on the climax and conclusion of the main plot! For SPM, this includes focuses on each villain in turn (O'Chunks, then Mimi, then Dimentio, then Count Bleck and, to a lesser extent, Nastasia).

Because TTYD's writing allows you to be close with all of the partners and side characters you meet, parting with them at the end feels like a real goodbye. Even though you know you can just reload your save file, you still have the sense that you'll miss these people and this world you've gotten to know so well.

Despite all my love for the game, I do have mixed feelings on how effectively SPM pulls this off. I think they definitely give enough attention to the game's main cast to make the players curious about them after completing the main story, but I don't feel that this sense carries over to all of the side characters and worlds from throughout the game. I'm still fond of the characters in Super Paper Mario, of course, but it's not in the same "I feel I experienced something with them" kind of way that the Thousand-Year Door does so well.

TL;DR - Each chapter in The Thousand-Year Door gives some side character a chance to serve as that chapter’s protagonist, which helps better establish the characters and worlds in that game. However, Super Paper Mario does not do this to the same extent, especially in the earlier chapters, which I believe is part of the reason many people found SPM less engaging than TTYD when it first released.

Paper Mario TTYD roleswap AU

hypothetical drivel I'm putting here for funnies- pretty cut and dry, basically an alternate universe similar to the ones I've seen for Super Paper Mario, except all the party members swapped their roles while retaining their personalities

the AU is gonna include Hudson due to the uneven amount of party members, so I'm sorry, ppl cannot escape the 🐝

Peach <--> Mario

Actually no real changes to their character here, other than Mario being the kidnapped one that gets used as a vessel by the X-Nauts. Allows for more interaction since Peach isn't stuck with the "silent protagonist" curse.

Koops <--> Goombella

Koops is a meek explorer following in the foot steps of Kolorado. His father lives in Rogueport and often tells tales about the Crystal Stars, which encouraged him to go ask around.

Goombella is a spunky heroine who wants to save her old teacher, Professor Frankly, who went missing after touring a class near the castle in Petal Meadows. (the dragons all switched places in this)

Mini-Yoshi <--> Flurrie

Mini was an egg found by Jabbis, hatched and raised in Boggly Woods. He's very aggressive toward anyone who wants to harm his adoptive family, so he's pretty pissed off when he learns the X-Nauts allied themselves with the Punies. (Jabbies and Punies switched places here too, but Punio and Jabble are still friends)

Flurrie is a former wrestler from the Glitz Pit who retired, but had the spark reignited in her when she learned about the "identity thefts" happening. After which, she reenters the spotlight and travels with Peach, inspired by how tough she is under her ladylike demeanor.

Bobbery <--> Vivian

Bobbery is a grave keeper living in Twilight Town. There is a curse that drains the life energy of just about everyone in the village, thanks to a monster living in the Creepy Steeple. He hasn't left his hut ever since his wife's passing, but after seeing Peach's plight, comes out of his shell to aid the Princess who lost all her allies to the curse.

Vivian is a Shadow Siren with a heavy emphasis on the "siren" part. She uses water magic to crash the ship that Peach and the others are traveling on, in order to guard Keelhaul Key. She changes her mind later on, unable to tolerate her sisters cruelty toward others.

Ms. Mowz <--> Hudson

Ms. Mowz is an actress who starred in films adapting romance novels. She was waiting for her next big hit playing in Poshley Heights when she saw shenanigans happening on the Excess Express, and noted that Zip Toad was acting strangely.

Hudson is the infamous "Honey Syrup Thief", a bumbling burglar who is wanted throughout Rogueport. She has her own shop when she's not playing the role of thief, where she supplies ingredients to others… the X-Nauts are usually her most frequent target.

Grodus <--> Crump

Lord Grodus is the second in command of the X-Nauts, his body mostly consisting of cybernetics, which he can use to attach himself to robotic creations. Compared to his leader and the other minions, he's overly serious and ambitious. He doesn't stand for his own failures.

Sir Crump is the leader of the X-Nauts, but is strangely laid back. He makes it pretty clear to Mario that he wants to use him as a vessel to take over the world, rather than hiding it from him.

Beldam <--> Marilyn

Largely the same, but their abilities have swapped (ice and lightning) and Marilyn uses her large stature to push Beldam around, who is nothing more than a sniveling snitch and a coward instead of a scheming manipulator.

They also have no ties to the X-Nauts, unlike the original game.

Doopliss <--> Grubba

Doopliss is a Duplighost who thinks identity theft is so cool that he's going to steal the abilities of the strongest wrestlers in the Glitz Pit after imprisoning them.

Grubba meanwhile, is a Spike who drains the essence of everyone living in Twilight Town for the sake of keeping his youth.

Neither Doopliss nor Grubba join forces with the Shadow Sirens after they are defeated and Vivian abandons, due to their parts in the story. Instead, Sir Crump willingly hires the two of them to work with Grodus after learning what happened in their encounters with Princess Peach.

Luigi <--> Bowser

Luigi is now the one with random intermissions, trying to locate his brother.

Bowser goes on his own adventure with party member partners and rather than kidnapping Peach, tells her everything that has been going on… well, his twisted version of events, at least…

idk what to do with Flavio and Rawk Hawk, maybe we'll make them switch places /j

or they can stay as they are since they are fan favorites

An another OC’s from my Super Mario AU I came up with! I’m really inspired by @ask-the-koopa-family/@natsuko-the-mun to create the ruler of the Piranha Plants like she did with Princess Cherry and her past family— because of their human species and also their wonderful crowns— and also my friend @beeanstalk09 to create one like she did with Kinboshi! 

But since I’m mostly fond with @ask-the-koopa-family/@natsuko-the-mun’s designs of the Piranha Plants rulers based on her AU, I would really stick to it for my future OC’s and here they are!

Here are my headcanons for them— more of them for Maximus and Olivia, but less of them for their parents. ^^; 

HEADCANONS FOR MAXIMUS AND OLIVIA:

Princess Olivia is the future queen of the Royal Piranha Plant Family.

She has a twin brother named Prince Maximus. He is a few minutes older than her and also the future king of the royal Piranha Plant family.

As time goes by during their beginnings of their childhood, Olivia and Maximus are waiting at the castle to know if their parents are coming back from the royal meeting. But as they were sooner told that their parents are not coming back, Olivia and Maximus though that they have vanished forever, and they were all upset.

As Olivia was devastated that her parents are not coming back, she was left under the care of her twin brother. Maximus becomes overprotective and remembers the promise he made to his parents to take care of Olivia.

At an age of 18, Maximus becomes king of the Piranha Plants, but he wished his parents would come back, just like his sister Olivia wished for.

At their ages around 20ish, Maximus and Olivia go for a walk to get their heads cooled off, but were suddenly stumbled upon a Warp Pipe which leads them to the other world… stumbling upon the Spirit Animal Kingdom merged with the Darklands. They went there to discover the kingdom curiously.

Discovering the kingdom of the Darklands, Olivia was caught being gazed and her twin brother was confused. Olivia was gazed at by Bowser Jr. who had a slight crush on her. Maximus was shocked that his twin sister is having a thing for a Koopa. 

Maximus was being a bit skeptical, but he sees that Junior has a thing for Olivia, and it takes time for Maximus to get over it.

Maximus and Olivia introduced themselves to the royal Koopa family and they were being friendly to King Bowser and Queen Sheila’s children.

Maximus and Olivia didn’t realize that Junior and the Koopalings’s sister— Annabelle— was different than them, but they made friends with her, including Annabelle’s best friends, Prince Petey, Princess Marion, and Prince Jared from the Mushroom Kingdom and Sarasaland. Maximus and Olivia got along really well. Luckily had more friends— such as Petey, Marion, and Jared’s love interests named Princess Mocha Swirl and Prince Chocolate Mint Graham of the Sweet Kingdom and Princess Galaxia of the Cosmos.

Maximus and Olivia were a few months younger than Junior, but years younger than the Koopalings; the twins are years older than Annabelle, Petey, Marion, Jared, Mocha Swirl, Chocolate Mint Graham, and Galaxia.

Junior has Olivia hang out with him, but he acts flirty with her, and Olivia was being blessed by his true feelings. 

Olivia comforts Junior whenever he gets embarrassed by his family for being with a human princess. Maximus didn’t even embarrass his sister because he thinks it would be bad to do so.

Seeing how much Junior and Olivia both loved each other, Maximus approves his sister in being with Junior. Even Bowser and Sheila both approved Junior in being with Olivia.

Junior and Olivia were not the only couples, but including Annabelle and Claw, Fang and Karen’s son; Ludwig and Eliza Koopa; Lemmy and Carly Koopa; and even Roy and Pom Pom.

Junior proposes to Olivia and she accepts it, impressing his family and her twin brother!

When Claw and Annabelle become king and queen of the Spirit Animals and the Koopas, Junior wanted to be king of his homeland, but Maximus has an idea to make Junior become king of the Piranha plants with Olivia so that she could be his queen, and Junior approves the decision after his family gave their approval for that.

With the decision made, Bowser Jr. and Olivia become king and queen of the Piranha Plants. 

Maximus and Olivia started having a strong friendship with Junior, the Koopalings, Annabelle, Claw, Petey, Marion, Jared, Mocha Swirl, Chocolate Mint Graham, and Galaxia.

HEADCANONS FOR VINE AND AMELIA:

King Vine and Queen Amelia are considered the best and loving parents to Olivia and Maximus.

Their parents had to go to a royal meeting, leaving their kids- who are at ages of 7– to be safe in the castle. However, it is seemingly unlikely that Vine and Amelia never returned from the meeting.

I’ve been replaying an old game recently. Ive improved so much since ive drawn Mario stuff, remember my ugly as Koopas? Koops is the definition of a glo-up.

What kind of activities would the game koopalings do if they each meet their cartoon counterparts?

Ludwig would be amazed that the him from another world is EXACTLY like Iggy, and would then proceed to forcefully give Kooky a bath and brush his hair, all the while Kooky is screeching like a pterodactyl. Once Kooky calmed down, they’d both start working on their next plan to defeat Mario, combining Ludwig’s practical ideas with Kooky’s outlandish plans before whatever they built is destroyed by the others.

Lemmy and Iggy plus Hip and Hop? The only thing that could happen is the greatest prank war in history! Nobody would be safe, not even King Koop and Bowser! Of course, they’re more than willing to team up to pull a prank on Ludwig, Kooky, Wendy or Kootie Pie…It would just be unbridled chaos with a lot of practical jokes and vandalism, and they’d all probably end up in the infirmary one way or another.

Bully and Roy would obviously team up to bully their siblings (mostly Iggy and Lemmy-Hip and Hop) and attempt to bully Ludwig/Kooky but almost immediately feel the sting of their revenge. Later on, their tempers would run over and they’d end up fighting each other, and both of them end up in the infirmary with several bruises and a broken bone each.

For Kootie Pie and Wendy…shopping spree! Whatever chaos their brothers are causing, they want no part of it. They’ll both just steal their Dad’s credit card and tell one of the escorts to take them to the biggest mall in a 50-mile radius. They’ll spend the entire day trying on clothes and accessories, and will leave the mall with 1000s of coins worth of useless tat and a hundred new dresses.

Larry and Cheatsy would love each other (platonically). Those cunning little imps would immediately team up to steal stuff off their siblings, and they probably won’t even get caught very often! Then, Cheatsy would try something outlandish such as robbing a bank and they’d both get arrested and locked in their rooms. They’d have a blast, though!

Morton probably wouldn’t get along with Big Mouth too much in the talking department. Big Mouth’s tendency to ramble will almost certainly confuse and bore Morton. However, they’d both have a great time exploring their largely nonexistent culinary talents in the kitchen (without the chef’s permission, of course) and watching their sibling do stupid stuff. They’d probably set something on fire whilst ‘cooking’, though.

Basically, they’d cause absolute carnage and probably destroy half the castle, and somehow end up fighting Mario after Ludwig and Kooky’s plan sorta works, but everyone is in too much disarray to really help.

Koop is so boring what I’ve noticed is that no one has there own creative voices anymore. Is like when one group does something new and it gets trending then all these other groups try to follow the same sound just to get views and votes. For example when bts released dynamite the song was a hit and it was widely loved after that all these other groups started making songs with the same retro sound and mv’s with the same style to the point where it got played out. Kpop lost its spark tbh

Yeah it has. Honestly some fans clown old kpop but mostly everyone was unique and had their own style, sounds and looks back then. Every group sampled and tried popular trends. Thats why when one anon confessed he / she thought Bigbang music was sexist and sounded dated I couldn't get behind that cause at least BB had their own sound. Super Junior, Bigbang, 2pm and Shinee all sounded nothing alike and that's the beauty of it. There was something for everyone. TVXQ didn't sound nor act like GS&TOP the subunits were unique too.

i hear you anon, and no offense taken! i appreciate you trying to calm the panic :) but from what i’ve seen, people are still sending letters to him as well which is shitty :/ but i hope he and his team ignores them. i also think horikoshi is too deep in the manga to change anything in the current anime but idk. fans give him money and that’s persuasive in of itself 

tbh tho, i think a lot of people’s impatience w the fandom surpasses ship wars. there’s just a lot of drama that constantly happens within it. ik people try to avoid it but it’s hard when it comes up on your “try these posts” page every other day. also, if it’s something that affects them, people naturally get involved. ofc, it’s not everybody, and all fandoms have their bad eggs, but it’s still disheartening(?) to see. but yeah, i agree that you do (mostly) cultivate your own experience

I would say I’m a bit mismatched kind of person- I like Koop but also like heavy metal and love Disney cartoons but also murder mysteries. and i think she learnt v quick that this disposition can be put into use for whatever the count has planned for her, so she’s internalised a lot of it (in robo fashion 🤖) but like, even then she doesn’t sound that childish to me?? i feel like that gets mixed up w how polite she pretends to b sometimes. w the occasional ‘gee whiz, golly gee’ speech she has but. that’s mostly just paper mario vernacular- koops talks a bit like this too !

she’ll go from calling the heroes a bunch of meanie poo pee heads and then immediately go for the ‘are you gonna get your boyfriends to clean up this mess for you too? :)’ she’s so facetious abt it most the time, it’s hard to catch that thinly veiled bitterness but. it adds more to her character than just saying ‘she talks like a kid bc she is one’.

and like, by post-game, she isn’t even using her goofy ‘golly jeepers crimminy on a biscuit!’ speech much. she’s more lowkey after peach snaps her out of her ‘myehh ive lived my whole life like this, its not my fault waa!’ mentality. it all makes her such a flip floppy chara to analyse- which is good ! mimi’s entire backstory is based on how shrouded and unknown her identity is. we know the least about her and why she is.. who she is.

and like..just to back myself up here,  there is canon dialogue that p much state she’s not a child. interned warns merlee and mimi that x question might stir up childhood trauma, referring to them being kids as past tense. there’s another question he’ll open up implying he (and the audience) are interested in both of the ladies’ type of guy, to which mimi will flirt back at him w. and OFC the whole option of confessing your love to her is right there for mario and peach to try at so ye.. rlly makes it seem shes like, of age to hear these kinds of things from adult charas.

. i realise i sound kinda upfront here omg im sorry if i sound defensive LOL ! i obvi have no beef w anyone who portrays her (or any other chara) differently!! she’s a nice n easy candidate for the spooky child trope- but i do feel like i need to get my point across that i personally and firmly don’t see her as one, since i know the general hc of her being adult squicks som ppl out, esp the more mature way i draw her and the ships i have for her etc.

Since I am not over the fact that for Bowser Jr. and Koopalings in the Mario amd Luigi games, let's talk about that. I think right after the whole incident in BJJ, I wonder if Ludwig or Wendy would actually be more considerate for Junior's well being after the whole ordeal. Ludwig has the Panic Big Bro if Junior does obscenely stupid stuff w/ his hair going Kooky levels of panic or Wendy has the tough yet caring and has the bitch slap defensive tic if she sees somebody hurting Junior.

Oh, absolutely.

All of the Koopalings have very distinctive, unique personalities and it definitely shows when it comes to their relationship with Jr.. That’s something I loved about BJJ–They really showed how they are all different and handle this snot-nosed brat. I like to think the Koopalings would follow specific traits as siblings for Jr.. So….ah, let’s look at ‘em all roughly!

LUDWIG: Over protective type. Will do all he can to keep Jr. out of trouble. I HC that he is the most mature of the group and does all he can to stop Jr. doing something ludicrous. (Another I.e. Jr. grabbing a bowl of raw cookie dough and eating it as it is and Ludwig literally running across the room and practically slapping the bowl from his hands “NO LORD JUNIOR THAT ISN’T GOOD FOR YOU PLEASE STOP!”)

WENDY: Another over protective type but shows it a bit more…bluntly? She cares very deeply for her siblings. (Even Roy!) She can be bossy and maybe a bit insulting but it’s all meant well. If someone was to even think of being mean to Jr. she would be over jumping over the castle walls and readying her hand for an almighty slappin’. Never insult her family. Even Jr.. I also HC that she and Roy are twins hence the hint of rivalry.

LARRY: Larry and Jr. are cuties....Drawing buddies that like to play video games and share creative ideas. I like to think that they would team up at some point and create a comic about them being heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom...As kids do. The least likely to start a fight with Jr.. 

LEMMY: Probably second to Larry in least likely to start a fight. Jr. use to tease Lemmy about how small he is (Smaller than him!) but after BJJ, they get on much better and Jr. doesn’t make those jokes anymore. I like to think Lemmy would teach Jr. about how to ball balence when he’s up for it. (Not that he’s very good lmao)

IGGY: Like Lemmy and Larry, he doesn’t want to start any fights. He does enjoy a good joke or two with Jr.. Maybe a prank here and there but usually, they work together to prank the other koops as opposed to pranking each other. 

ROY: OOOOOFFFFF.....Well, the most likely to fight, thats for sure. Y’know those tropes of the little sibling being so annoying and being just a HUGE brat to the older sibling (Like Daniel in LIS2 or DW from the show “Arthur”)? Well that’s Jr. to Roy. Roy has been known to be physical in showing his annoyance but it’s mostly typical sibling things. (rubbing fist into Jr.’s head, dragging him across room to get him off his bed/sofa, willing to carry him upside down etc...) VERY rare Roy shows affection towards anyone but....ok consider...consider if Roy was trying to cheer up an upset Jr. and he ends up falling asleep so Roy is like “shitshitshit I can’t move or he’ll wake up and cry again okok lemmie think” but ends up sleeping too...They just nap together on the sofa and it’s like--the longest they’ve gone without fighting...Bless...

MORTON: Last but definitely not least! Morton is a bit difficult because his difference in character between BJJ and Paper Jam....But which ever way he is...I think of him as a big ol’ teddy bear. He will protect Jr. all he can. Despite being a big ol’ meat head, he very rarely fights with any of his siblings and Jr. unless it’s to be defensive.

I'm heartbroken over how thing ended for our beautiful ship and I'm trying to erase from my memory the images of the last two episodes

[2/3] episodes (and half, considering the ending of 8x4). I just want to be able to look and Jaime and Brienne and preserve, not lose, the love, the affection, the emotion, the hope that their relationship has always gifted me. I don’t want that the ending D&D chose for them, making them and the others completely OOC, ruin all those years. In my mind, Jaime is now happily on Tarth, like Gwen and Nik also desired. Those are fictional characters, so they can live in our personal fiction

[3/3] so D&D’s finale doesn’t deserve our pain (and I’m glad that most of fans are hating on it). My hope is that GRRM finally gives them the canon ending they deserve but if that doesn’t happen, those dialogues and those scenes will always be there and will always live for us and for them, nobody can take it away from us. We last saw the REAL Jaime&Brienne in that Winterfell room, so… they’re are happy and in love and alive in there. Just wanted to share some positivity as a thank you! *Shosh

And I agree. I think right now the challenge is to figure out how to continue appreciating what we always enjoyed and loved and admired about Jaime, Brienne and their dynamic, without letting the last 2.5 episodes retroactively ruin entire years of it. 

I personally struggle with it because I tend to be a very canon-focused person, so if the ending ruins it, it’s difficult for me not to let it colour what happened previously. Analysing the writers’, rather than characters’, motivations helps in my case (i.e. sort of the Nikolaj approach), as it helps me step back and see it as the fiction it is and criticize the craft. Other people decide to throw it all in the trash and forget about it. Others (that I am jealous of) have an easier time ignoring things that upset them in order to continue deriving enjoyment from it. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to go about it and I hope that, with time, I too will reach the stage where I can appreciate the good while ignoring the bad. 

And I think, if you can do that easily, GO FOR IT. Especially if we consider the fact that even IF (and it’s a big IF, still), this is GRRM’s broad-stroke ending for our favorites, the specific context, causes, effects and events that characterized it on the show are 100% D&D fanfiction (and when you look at how much they deliberately and substantially altered Jaime’s book material, I don’t see how anyone can think that their beyond book material isn’t mostly or entirely made up). Given that I get the feeling most of us take biggest issue with the specific details and writing of this ending, more than the ending as a concept per se, this approach is even more valid.

We may or may not get GRRM’s intended ending for them and it may or may not be better than what we got on screen (I think it will - although that bar is REALLY low! lol), but, until then, D&D’s fanfiction isn’t any better or realer than ours. If you like it, enjoy it. If you don’t, dismiss it, as you would any kind of fanfic.

But you’ve got to start somewhere (we're talking, of course, about ugly vehicles, not cars in general). It would be many decades after the world was put on wheels for SUVs to appear, though not long after that ugliness caught up with that vehicle format, too. Pretty much everyone is (or should be) in agreement that Pontiac's Aztek, produced from 2001-2005, is the most repulsive of the breed. Nearly 20 years later, the misshapen crossover, with its narrow hips and insectilian face, remains the butt of jokes and the scapegoat for the death of the Pontiac brand. But is the Aztek really the ugliest SUV ever? Here we've gathered a list of 20 others that have a shot at the title; many also count among the greatest automotive flops of all time. Acura ZDX (2010–2013)Our original road test of the 2010 Acura ZDX begins: "We're tempted to believe that ZDX stands for 'zero demand expected.'" Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT/GMC Envoy XUV (2004–2005)In the early 2000s, GM’s design studio was apparently looking to corner the market on ugly SUVs, and it mostly succeeded. Two of its worst projects-besides, of course, the Aztek-were the extended-wheelbase versions of the Chevy Trailblazer and the GMC Envoy. GM stretched these rigs limo-style, adding 16-inches to their wheelbases, deforming the three-row SUVs into proportions so misshapen they have a fun house mirror quality. That the Envoy XUV's roof could be partially retracted (the part over the cargo area) for carrying tall things both made no sense and was completely overshadowed by the GMC's hideousness.

Chrysler Aspen (2007–2009)Based on the second-generation Dodge Durango, which itself looked like a Pug sucking on a lemon, the Aspen was the first SUV marketed by the Chrysler brand. That is pretty much where the fun facts end, unless you count the hybrid version Chrysler sold a few hundred of before pulling the plug. Anyway, the Aspen's overly chromed flanks go poorly with the overly flared wheel arches, while the grille appears to be pulled from a 1972 Mercedes and turned on its side. Somehow, the Chrysler still managed to be vapid and generally unattractive. Since most Americans that drive do have eyes, it was a flop.Chrysler

Dodge Nitro (2007–2012)Chrysler doubled down on hideous SUV design in 2007 by launching the Dodge Nitro, a rebadged and offensively squared-off version of the Jeep Liberty, right around the same time as the similarly bad Jeep Commander and Chrysler Aspen. Despite its overwrought flared fenders, the Nitro manages to look tall and narrow. Even more intriguing is its underbite face, which appears bearded in the style of C. Everett Koop.

Honda Crosstour (2010–2015)Honda's design team must have shaped the 2010 Crosstour on a bet. As in, "I bet we can make this new wagon/crossover look like a Platypus and the executives will still sign off on it." Well, they did and they did. The resultant Crosstour wasn't popular, but it sure was hunchbacked. After just five years and a single generation, the Crosstour was crossed out.Honda

Honda Element (2003–2011)The Honda Element seemed to be inspired by Picasso's Figure dans un Fauteuil, but it's no exercise in Cubism. Instead, it looks like a mail truck got busy with a Honda CR-V-actually, that's not far from the truth, as this relentlessly rectilinear SUV was based on the un-weird CR-V crossover. Later in its life cycle, the Element became slightly less repugnant, thanks to Honda's decision to paint more of its previously raw gray plastic bodywork.Honda

Hyundai Santa Fe (2001–2006)The original Hyundai Santa Fe is so frumpy it surely was designed by at least a dozen people who didn't talk to each other but enjoyed group play with clay like Patrick Swayze in the movie Ghost. The SUV's shape is wrought with odd concavities and bulges, like Play-Doh squeezed by a child's fist; from some angles it actually appears dented, as if its front fenders have been hit with a baseball bat.Hyundai

Infiniti QX56 (2004–2010)The first-generation Infiniti QX56 (now known as the QX80) was a chromed-up version of the Nissan Pathfinder Armada, meaning that both full-size SUVs were based on the Titan pickup truck. Infiniti fitted the massive QX56 with a car-like nose and elements from its sedans, creating a centaur-like monstrosity with an oddly domed roof and none of the mystical creature’s elegance or muscularity. Its immediate followup wasn't great either, with a beluga-like front end; a refresh for 2018 transformed the design into something actually good-looking.Infiniti

Isuzu Vehicross (1999–2001)If the Suzuki Vehicross has a calling card, it's that it appears to have more bottom than top, if that makes sense. It also predates the Pontiac Aztek. When the concept version debuted at the Tokyo Auto Show in 1993, we called it fish-faced. Later, we said the production version looks like an escapee from the set of "Battlestar Galactica." Jeep Compass (2007–2017)The design of the current Jeep Compass is clean, decently proportioned, and appealingly upscale (in sharp contrast to the rest of the little crossover, which is decidedly down-market). Mostly, this is because the second-generation Compass resembles a smaller Grand Cherokee. Too bad the original Compass was the exact opposite, with a bug-eyed face, weird roofline, and blocky lower-body detailing. It sold in strong numbers from 2007 to 2017, though for the life of us we can't figure out why.Jeep

Lamborghini LM002 (1986–1993)Cool can be ugly, and vice versa. And SUVs don’t come much cooler or much uglier than the Rambo Lambo. Angular to a flaw, the LM002 could use a curve or two. Its body panels are as flat as Fenway’s Green Monster. And the styling, such as it is, is applied liberally and seemingly without consideration. Hey, why not bend this that way, or toss an angle there? Originally designed for military use in the 1970s, Lambo built about 300 twelve-cylinder "civilian versions" from 1986 to 1993.Al Satterwhite

Lexus LX570 (2012–present)If there’s one vehicle that combines everything wrong with Toyota and Lexus design over the last 30 years, it’s the current LX570. The luxurious Lexus version of the venerable Toyota Land Cruiser is now in its third generation and has been homely ever since it debuted in 2008. The LX grew downright grotesque in 2012 when, to the already cosmetically challenged SUV Lexus began adding mutations of its spindle grille along with low-hanging rocker trim. Lincoln MKT / Town Car (2010–present)Sometime around 2006, someone at Lincoln must have decided American luxury car buyers wanted a three-row SUV with the grin of a baleen whale and the appearance of having a loaded diaper. So began the development of what would become the 2010 Lincoln MKT (at least, so we think), which was based on the Ford Flex. A minivan-esque silhouette, grossly long overhangs front and rear, and, though we've already mentioned it, that awful grille are co-conspirators in the Lincoln's ugly play. Even though the MKT remains in production for fleets and hired-car services, it has never sold in respectable numbers; fewer than 3000 were bought last year.Lincoln

Nissan Juke (2011–2017)According to Nissan, the Juke's greenhouse resembles the visor of a motorcycle helmet and the small SUV’s curvy fenders evoke the so-called "Coke bottle" styling popular in the late 1960s. It sound pretty cool, but in reality the Juke’s design is a hot mess, exacerbated by a painfully overdesigned, frog-like front end the likes of which hadn’t been seen since the Aztek was put down in 2005. Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet (2011–2014)Allegedly, Nissan's now-former CEO Carlos Ghosn pushed the Murano CrossCabriolet into production because his wife liked the idea of it. Well, nobody (okay, almost nobody) else did. The two-door convertible crossover was a packaging disaster and visually challenged whether its cloth top was raised or stowed. Like the Aztek 10 years its senior, the Nissan became a punchline and it lasted just three years on the market before we had to say goodbye. Bizarrely, these days CrossCabriolets enjoy a cult following; meanwhile, Mr. Ghosn, for the first time, has bigger problems than being tangled up with the CrossCab's birth story.Nissan

Subaru B9 Tribeca (2007–2014)Subaru claimed the B9 Tribeca's front-end design was inspired by Alfa Romeo race cars of the 1930s. And you could see the resemblance if you squinted really, really hard. The look, which debuted in 2006, triggered more gag reflexes than sales-or, maybe, it was the three-row crossover's inexplicable name-and an updated model with a less controversial face was rushed into production for the 2008 model year. At the same time, Subaru mercifully dropped the "B9" part from the Tribeca's name. Apparently, this arbitrage was enough; the SUV lasted essentially unchanged until its discontinuation in 2014.Subaru

Suzuki X-90 (1995–1997)The next time someone tells you there is no such thing as a bad idea, show them a picture of the Suzuki X-90, a two-seat SUV with about the passenger and cargo space of a Mazda MX-5 Miata. Basically a chopped down Suzuki Sidekick, the X-90's tiny dimensions and odd proportions kept its appeal in check. With its narrow track, high stance and tall greenhouse it looked like roller-skate. It's of little surprise, then, that the Suzuki was only sold here from 1995 to 1997.

Suzuki XL-7 (2007–2009)Automotive designers are always looking to other art disciplines for inspiration, and the designers of the Suzuki XL-7's second generation divined their vision from the face of rock god Alice Cooper. At least, they must've-how else can you explain the drooping, curvy headlights on the unpopular SUV? The XL-7 also features-if that's the right word-an oddly long nose and too long a wheelbase and overall length for its narrow gait.Suzuki

Nursing Homes and Fall Injuries

Each year, over 300,000 seniors over 65 suffer from a serious hip fracture. These injuries usually occur in one of two ways. Many people slip and fall, and then break their hips. That’s especially common in nursing homes that have environmental issues, like dark hallways or wet spots on floors. Alternatively, according to former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, many people break their hips and then fall, mostly because they stand up from sitting positions incorrectly and knock their hip joints out of alignment.

If either of these kinds of falls occurs in a nursing home, the facility may be liable for nursing home negligence and legally responsible for damages .

Falling and Breaking a Hip

Under common law, nursing home residents are invitees, because they are on the premises for a business purpose. In this case, money changes hands. The patient often pays the nursing home for ongoing care, and the nursing home usually receives money from the government for services rendered to the patient.

Some states, including California, have abolished the common-law classification system which includes invitees, but the legal duty remains much the same.

If the victim was an invitee, the landowner has a duty of care to keep the premises reasonably safe. Furthermore, the landowner has a duty to inspect the premises and warn invitees about any dangerous conditions pending their repair. This duty is nondelegable, so the nursing home cannot blame the situation on a janitorial company or other third party.

Breaking a Hip and Falling

As many as 90 percent of nursing homes are understaffed. In these environments, the details are one of the first things to go. And, overlooking these details often causes serious injury.

In many understaffed facilities, common areas are not watched as closely as they should be, largely because the staff often erroneously assumes that if the resident is healthy enough to be mobile, the resident needs less attention. As a result, some residents stand up incorrectly. To give themselves better leverage when standing, many seniors spread their legs. This position puts too much stress on the hip, and the joint breaks.

Nursing home owners breach their legal duty of care if they do not provide enough people to ensure that residents are keeping themselves healthy by getting up from a seated position with their legs together.

In both these situations, victims are usually entitled to compensation for tangible damages, such as medical bills, and intangible losses, such as emotional distress. Large punitive damages are available as well, in many situations.
