I think it makes sense for no chemistry reads because there wasn't really a plan for who would end up with who until later on they were teasing all the pairings to see which one worked and which didn't obviously Jiara blew them all out of the water to me it's the best ship on the show.

Yeah I think so too but too many shows skip chemistry reads in general for ships they know are going to be the main couple. Or if they don’t they do one and don’t read the results right lmao. I think the biggest mistake with pokie wasn’t the experimenting with it; it was having Kie kiss him at the end of S1 and writing themselves and us into a hole they had to then write themselves out of. And I think they wrote their S2 arc well overall but absolutely no one wanted that much screentime of pokie.

I think it’s also different to have a shitty ship for a while on a show that has 22 episode seasons. When you have ten episodes there’s a lot less room for getting back out.

Easily my least favorite thing about S2.

I’m not trying to be a purist about sex but there was just no need for that. Even if sex itself isn’t a big deal to Kie, I definitely think it was to Pope. And that could have so easily been handled without it, in so many different ways. Even if they wanted to keep a very similar plotline with them.

They knew they messed up at the end of S1 and had to get out of it and they tried to be unique and explore that relationship more where other shows wouldn’t have. So while I get what they were going for and can appreciate the Jiara parallels it’ll give us (and already has for some), I still think they fumbled giving so much screentime to such an uninteresting dynamic and DEFINITELY fumbled with them having sex. I prefer not to think about it lmao.
