Reaction to Season of the Risen Storyline

first problem w how salad is going about mentoring crow—

He’s completely blowing off his concerns as foolish without actually doing anything to help crow understand the necessity of what we’re doing. Instead of helping him work through the reasons we have to do these things, he’s just telling him to basically suck it up and quit complaining

SECONDLY THAT STORY ABOUT THE GIRL WHO HE ‘SPARED’ ONCE HAS ME FUMING because the way I see it, her journey from thief to bandit leader was less because of his sparing her at all, but because instead of actually guiding her and helping her make the most of the life hes allowed her to keep, he just gave her a trinket and some vague words that could be interpreted any which way and then he fucked off!!

the moral of not letting your sympathy to the criminal outweigh your duty to the victims is completely understandable and i agree w it wholeheartedly, but at the same time this isn’t about sparing our enemies, Crow is worried we are Becoming What We Are Fighting Against

and poor zavala is trying to get salad to understand where crow is coming from and also get salad to give him proper guidance, but it’s becoming more and more obvious to me that these two just dont fit each other in a teacher-student sense. incompatible

there are just so many better ways to allay crows doubts. tbh i feel like caiatl would be much better at teaching him why this is all necessary, because from what ive seen in the lore shes much better at being understanding w her forces and colleagues. the best way to encourage someone to never trust you is to blow them off completely when they show doubt, and i feel like she understands that

i think part of the reason it bugged me so much is because the whole scene made me feel like i was trying to talk to my dad about politics and it rlly put me in crows shoes

i feel like salads whole pov is based off of his need to be completely doubt free. He feels like he needs to be firmly in the right, so he cant have any doubts because that means he could be wrong and that would mess up his whole thought process. this leads to him being overly confident and hard headed and blowing off other peoples concerns about his choices, because if theyre right he would be wrong and he Cant Be Wrong otherwise its all for nothing. if that makes any sense idk

ok update on my guardians view of the situation— after the debrief from this weeks mission i feel a lot more optimistic both for saladins teaching of crow(he asked the psion to talk to him!! he said the psion was respectful, and that they had the same view of the situation that i talked about having!! he’s trying to change for the better!!) And the alliance w the cabal, because zavala and caiatl have been getting along really well and both sides are finding common ground!!! i don’t wanna get my hopes up Too much because its only three weeks into the season’s story but im optimistic

and he has finally given some actual advice to crow, with the whole ‘you dont know enough about yourself to know whats right yet’ and ‘you have all these memories of uldren sovs experience while you have only a few years of your own’ stuff, and thats really good

i feel bad for the psion, but it really was a well intentioned, albeit misguided, mistake. it all could have been avoided if crow had thought to ask the psion how to disable the machine first, but whats done is done

and now i think what crow needs is a sleepover w the guardian and maybe amanda(if she feels up to seeing him again yet) and saint because i feel like he needs some emotional support/pep talks rn

also saint could use some emotional support too atm so i think itd help him too. maybe should also invite eva and suraya, eva because everyone needs a good grandmother/mother figure, and suraya would probably be entirely on crows side of thinking but also be pragmatic about it so shed give good advice

We have meat like chicken, sometimes bacon if it's like some breakfast recipe or if whatever it is calls for it (one time I made a BLT but I dont think that's common for at-home). I see ground beef quite a bit. Store bought lunchmeats aren't uncommon, usually gross packaged bread that's unhealthy, it's common to have fruits and vegetables like apples and baby carrots (we get large carrots that havent been cut or treated with whatever), uhhh, honestly a lot of vegetables work, like broccoli or cauliflower, bananas is another ones that's probably common, maybe onions but we use those for cooking. We usually have some vegetables on hand, we dont seem to buy tomatoes anymore because they're not good for my mom or whatever thing but we have some canned ones.

Garbage junk food is common in most houses, chips for days and candy somewhere (my mom mostlt buys her own stuff, I dont care much for candy). Honestlt and chips that are big brand are common. We have like- Cheetos, Clancy's which is Lays comparable, some pringles and pita chips because I prefer those but those probably arent familiar. I've seen meatloaf quite a few times and I don't like it at all so? We've had steak before, chicken baked or whatever. Canned soups are probably common. Spaghetti is a common household meal Im pretty sure which for us usually means """garlic bread""" or texas toast which honestly I could go without and I end up making aglio et olio or just some plain butter noodles. I'm almost positive ramen is common to see, the vast majority of my friends had it when I was younger and a lot still have it today. If I have the time I take time to make my own broth but I don't think most do that. Frozen pizza is common (Aldi has a refridgerated pizza which is good ngl). We've made our own and I've made some using tortillas. Actually, tacos come around here occasionally, which is why we have ground beef half the time.

Bread can be eaten any way - toasted (with butter, peanute butter, used for a sandwich, plain and can use for dipping, use normal bread for a sandwich, it's endless (not, maybe).

And this may be a given or go for others but soda is probably almost an essential, my parents drink soda all the time and my dad drinks moutain dew which really isn't good for you At All, I drink water and right now powerade because we got a deal on it. Also cookies are common. And ice cream.

French fries are pretty common too, maybe some like chicken nuggets or we usually had fingers because they were cheap from Aldi (we shop there a lot), eggs are a necessity, usually we have dressings and like whatever the word Is I can think of like ranch, ketchup, mustard and the fancy mustards, mayo, french and other salad dressings, we have jelly which is common, uhh. Most homes have peanut butter which might be like another necessity unless switched out for jelly or something similar (I dont personally like jelly). Cooking oils and sprays are probably common, also butter. We always have olive oil, maybe canola, corn. Cooking sprays are just. Butter? Is one. Coconut maybe? There's more but.

Apple cider vinegar maybe. (Also normal but we use that for cleaning here so-)

My mom usually cooks and I like to cook too, so, there's a lot of recipes she's done or whatever, like spaghetti, meatloaf, some breakfast casserole she used to make all the time (don't rlly like it but I ate it sometimes), cut of potatoes from a bag (potatoes are popular here) with sausage sometimes its hash, hamburgers with groundbeef, cakes and other desserts, and plenty of other things. I fry and make enjoyable soups, soups are what Im good at, and whatever else I can get my hands on. It depends on probably where a person grew up and how their experiences are and what their family did and stuff.

hey quick question in all seriousness: what do white people eat? Like not at restaurants and stuff, like at home with your families or like what your parents made you as a kid. I’m genuinely curious, I have venezuelan or italian food basically everyday so I have no idea. (and even if you’re not white, if you see this could you put in the tags or otherwise what nationality/ethnicity or whatever you are and one of your favorite foods from your culture?) thanks!
