this man said "i need a drink" & proceeded to craft the the most sex & the city-coded poison cocktail ever, so from cascade ocean wave blues come i give you:
Osha ducks her head to deposit the straw back in her glass, and he very carefully stores away the image of the pink flash of her tongue. “I suppose you should show off a little, just to salvage your supposedly fearsome reputation, since you’re a coward who refuses to do shots with me.”
He’d gotten a scant pour of liquor, and nurses it like a grudge. “I’ve learned better,” he tells her while wiping his hands off, “than to let my guard down around others.”
She regards him in silence, clearly trying to gauge whether his even tone is one of mild reproach.
It’s not—she is perfectly safe to let her guard down precisely because he is there to guard her—and so he adds gently, “I also don’t like straight liquor, but the only mixers they have are dishwater and cooking oil, and I figure I’m consuming enough oil as it is.” To punctuate his point, he offers her a lump of unidentifiable fried food.
“I told you, no way am I eating that, it’s as greasy as you were back in that apothecary on Olega.”
“Greasy is a strong word. I was going for more of a windswept, ruggedly handsome look.” He fights not to smile at the face she makes, and allows, “I may have overemphasized the rugged aspect.”
“You were gross,” she informs him with what he feels is entirely too much glee, kicking her dangling feet and taking another long sip of her drink, slurping when she gets down to the dregs. It shouldn’t be endearing.
It is.

So I’ve been convinced to watch The Acolyte even though I’m 10000000% removed from anything star wars.
And THE OSHAMIR agenda i am fully on board.
“If you’re not going to join me [skinny dipping, post strip -tease- COUGHS] I’d like to put my clothes on” and you’re telling me she’s able to still keep semi composed when the man’s schlong is prob just junk out all wild????

“If Osha indulges the Dark Side in some fashion, it seems she'll do so with her eyes open. Frankly, that's sexy as all get out, too. The direction Osha and Qimir seem headed is what I wanted from Rey and Kylo Ren and fundamentally couldn't have: a complicated, angry woman embracing power and freedom through villainy. The Acolyte exists in the gray areas outside the Skywalker saga. If Osha finds herself in the Force by embracing her darkest instincts, so be it — preferably, while also embracing Qimir. How perfect is it that The Acolyte, a Star Wars series crafted by women, introduces the franchise's most simmering moments to date with audacious awareness and aplomb. Long may the Darth Biceps and Oshamir agendas reign.”
I so appreciate Collider for their service in promoting Oshamir and their dynamic in an honest manner.

Oh, I am ON this. I know we won’t get to see this in the show but I am writing this bc nothing is sexier or more beautiful than a man taking great care and appreciation of his black wife’s hair. I need this like I need air
I want Qimir to retwist Osha’s clay locs, taking his time to learn the texture of her hair and appreciate how different it is from his own. I want him to interlace his fingers around the coils, then massage her temples while he cleanses her scalp, as they shower together. I want Osha to trust him so immensely that she lets him do these wonderful things to her without protest or fearing judgment for her texture. Instead she leans into this new comfort, luxuriating in all the ways he makes her feel beautiful and special.
As a black woman, this would mean so much to me—having her be loved on in such a way that’s rarely shown on television.

Here’s my unsolicited two cents; some creators I have immense respect for have taken affront at the “soapy” direction “The Acolyte” has pursued with its latest 6th episode edition. While I certainly have my own hiccups with the pacing of transition, (and the show in general) I’ve picked up on nuggets along the way that weave, albeit a slightly frayed thread, with OSHA’s characterization to make all the things Qimir is saying appealing; adding in the sexual element only heightens that tension which refreshing.
We have explored every primarily masculine traits for those characters seduced to the dark side; ambition, power, anger, revenge, loss, fear, even love in the case of Anakin but never has Star Wars are portrayed characters that experience “lust," "hunger," "longing," so when Qimir brings up “desire” imo it isn’t soapy as much tantalizing the femininity of the protagonist by emphasizing the primitive emotions between them, something every person that chooses to become Jedi or train using the force ala Jedi way, must ignore.
Osha being teased with being able to use her powers in a manner that still allows her to maintain her autonomy coupled with her very real unexpected attraction to someone who can not only expose her vulnerabilities but has the same “literal” scars is in itself seductive to the mind, body, and spirit. However, she's been taught to be ashamed of these traits and has lost her ability to wield the force because of it.
The story is effective with this new energy that shouldn’t be dismissed because it doesn’t fit into one’s idea of Stat Wars.
This universe is HUGE; it’s presumptive to assume a story like this can’t be feasible because it tonally doesn’t jive with what has come before it. That’s the appeal, at least for me. The same reinforced tropes I've previously enjoyed are at this stage of 1k plus franchises is boring; imo. Perfectly logical not the like it; every ice cream flavor isn’t going to be your fav…it’s ok to want what you DESIRE the most but to spit in the container because it’s distasteful to you isn’t necessary nor can you declare it isn’t ice cream!
Sidebar; as someone who isn’t into the “soapy” romance myself, I think the moniker is misused here. Friends to lovers has been around in movies and television for longer than most people have been typing on these social media platforms that are becoming less about constructive criticism, entertainment or discussion than agendas but I digress; while I can understand the kneejerk response to dismiss the current Oshamir arc in that manner, it IS a valid storytelling choice and "soapy" is supplanted incorrectly to mask the fact that a the choice to be "seductive" star wars just isn’t your cup of tea.
Fair enough, but this hasn’t even come close to that label. Go watch the Young and the Restless; an actual soap opera and I challenge you to spot the difference lol
Fanfic would be more appropriate but even so, it’s not a criticism; only the uncomfortable emotion that you dislike. I’m not here to tell anyone what they should or should not like only to let out my own frustration regarding the unfairness of some of the commentary when juxtaposed against valid reasons for this unfolding story arc even if it isn’t to your appetite.
I’ll sound off this long ass post to emphasize there are no gatekeepers to the franchise; a franchise only survives by reinventing or delving deeper into unexplored territory. LucasFilm approved this show meaning they WANT to take chances with some of the themes many “fans” cry foul as not within their right to do so. No one makes a series for it to fail and whether it succeeds, or fail is still about taking a chance to do something different. it doesn’t give anyone the right to allow their passion free rein to attack or turn vitriol their disgust at anyone who dares to not have the same issues as you may feel are prevalent.
At the end of the day, it’s ENTERTAINMENT not one’s own self-identity intertwined with fiction.

Maybe it's only a coincidence, but I just realized some parallels about Oshamir's first meeting and Anidala in Attack of the clones...
1. Both, Anakin and Qimir, worked in shop when they met their future love interest.
2. Padme and Osha pretended to be someone else when they each met Anakin/Qimir
3. Anakin and Qimir both were in awe when they met Padme/Osha.
I don't really think it's intentional, but it's still cute 😊
This ask made me rewatch The Phantom Menace, and you are so right. That's actually such a cute parallel. :')) Now I need Qimir to compare Osha to an angel once to fully feed my Oshamir-Anidala agenda.
Also this is an easter egg to me, and my tin-hat.

I hate to say this but I kinda agree with anon. If they’d put more effort into making Osha a character who makes her own choices, isn’t swept along for the plot and actively showcases her dark side tendencies throughout the show, then maybe. But the writing of Osha’s character specifically and the way it was acted felt bland. I did find her to shine in her scenes with Qimir but the rest of the time I couldn’t really get behind it. Because of this, I do wonder if they put an agenda before the characters.
I do agree though that there is a TON of racism and misogyny in the fandom and that must not be forgotten when approaching the topic.
(As a reminder: I am a big Oshamir shipper. However my account for the way Osha was written and portrayed does not need to exclude the joy I felt for the romance)
God, the problem is not racism or sexism. In Star Wars, there were strong female characters and there were people of color and no one had a problem with that. Seriously, such characters were in classic movies 1-6. However, the problem with The Acolyte is that the creators decided that it was enough to make the characters JUST women or JUST people of color and this would somehow sell the story to people. Well, look at the ratings. This show doesn't have a good script, an interesting plot - anything good at all, except a title about a strong woman, and also a black one. That's not how it works. If your characters are empty, progressivity will not save them.
Are the characters empty ? The heroine is simply summarized as being a strong woman, and black ? Is there nothing interesting in the plot ? Absolutely nothing good at all ? Wow... We must not have watched the same show at all, my word... Or then you are at a very high stage of bad times. And if you think that racism and misogyny are not a factor of deep hatred in the Star Wars fandom (hello The Last Jedi), and more specifically in the case of The Acolyte, you are very naive.
